What was the first song you heard by six (paramore): 

gosh i dont remember,, i might have heard misery business/decode when i spent my 8 year old days watching random music videos on my dad’s old first gen ipod, but i dont have a clear cut memory of that per say so it could have also been aint it fun/still into you playing on the radio when i was 11. as for the first song that really got me into them, it was ignorance. 

What is your favorite song by eight (the 1975): 

that would be settle down, and it’s always been settle down, and i cant really explain why. it’s just a song that im never not in the mood for i guess, and it’s always stood out to me as just one of their grooviest songs. 

What kind of impact has one (fall out boy) left on you:

god... i cant say enough about what fob has done for me. this is all gonna sound terribly cheesy but if it wasn’t for fob being the first band i fell madly in love with, i wouldnt be the dumb nerd listening to all the varied stuff i listen to nowadays. throughout some of the darkest periods of my life, i poured my heart and soul into loving them, and man did that get me through a lot. and i cant help but think of that one textpost that said something along the lines of how much patrick’s voice feels like home, and god is that so true for me, to this day, no matter how many artists i discover and love, nothing’s ever gonna woo me harder than that man’s voice. seriously, initially it’s always a bit hard for me to outright dislike a fall out boy song, because no matter what weird/dumb/downright awful sounding sonic lane fob decides they want to fling themselves down, there’s always going to be patrick’s voice floating above it all. and i guess that’s just a testament to how much of a constant comfort they’ve been in my life for the past four to five years, and i cant really picture them going away anytime soon.

oh boyyyyy,, gosh im terribly lazy and dont have the energy to find em all right now so im just gonna nominate the entirety of build god, then we’ll talk because holy shit is that not a gorgeously written intriguing narrative or what. hats off to you mr ross seriously.

once, last july in boston and it was so so much fun, i’d die to relive it.

 fuck i gotta choose just one??? uhhhhhh i guess i’ll shout out subterranean homesick alien. ever since i first heard ok computer it’s always been a comfort song for me, i just love the spacey beautiful atmosphere it creates w jonny’s sweet sweet guitar

Are there any songs by three (arctic monkeys) that make you sad:

uh well despair in the departure lounge is pretty depressing, and ive cried to 505 before i guess if that counts, love is a laserquest is also pretty sad, and i guess you could argue do me a favour...uhh that’s it i think... i mean the monkeys can be slower and reflective at times but not a lot of their songs give off a particularly sad vibe y’know...maybe a bleak vibe, or maybe a frustrated vibe but not a sad one per say.

uh no seriously i’d think it would have to come down to either all these things that i’ve done or believe me natalie. all of these things that i’ve done is such a timeless and beautifully crafted anthem, and believe me natalie has such a wondrous freeing sense about it, i’ve got such good road trip memories associated with it.

well i was a pretty big fan of gorillaz first and im guessing you can put two and two together. honestly i was pretty hesitant of them for a while until i heard for tomorrow and somehow that changed my mind.

 hmm i think it’s a solid tie between their first two albums (is this it and room on fire) because they’re both flawless masterpieces, and while i enjoy pretty much all their albums, im such a sucker for their classic garage rock sound ughh

· Definition of Nostalgia – the state of being homesick, a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition also: something that evokes nostalgia. – conceptual idea of home or about a particular time in past can be real or imagined.

· Why are we so nostalgic? –  ‘ on this day’ on social media apps, ‘throwbacks’ viral movements – social markers encourage nostalgia – technology allows us to explore nostalgia in a more convenient yet public way, bombarded with nostalgic images

  What are you nostalgic for? – times past, old friends, family, youth, carefree living….? Indulge and re-experience these aspects again – what triggers your nostalgia – different experiences, sound, sight, smell, etc. nostalgia rising due to hard times?

·      Digital Nostalgia vs Physical Nostalgia – modern media encourages it – volume of material larger due to the digital age

·      Nostalgia never satisfied yet we still practice it – we chose it

·      Marketing tool? Political persuasion and gain

·      The ministry of Nostalgia –  ‘ we will remind people of how good things used to be. · The poster wasn’t mass produced until 2008 which is important as it is a historical object. In 2009 it became increasingly popular due to the reaction to the credit crunch and the banking crash. Tapped into narrative of the ‘British Finniest Hour’ – is there’s a negative uncurrent – nationalist undercurrent?

·  ‘Keep calm and carry on’ – Stuart Manley found a faded poster – a relic from world war two, long lost government propaganda bearing the message. Manley sold copies of poster behind his wife’s back as she didn’t want to commercialise it.

·  Become a joke – a reference within a reference.

Criticism has a negative connotation to it but it's not just negative it is a judgement of the work - personal and others opinions of the topic, testing the evidence, consider alternatives arguments and explanations - completion can’t be reached without, a conclusion. - not just fact telling there is an analysis to be done

Analysis is a critic, investigates the evidence for and against different theories and ideas, considers alternative perspectives , reach an informed opinion, give a reasoned argument

Critical thinking - persistent, sceptical, always ask why am i being told this, who is telling me this, what am i not being told, where is the evidence to support this.

Obtain some level of objectivity - can create a prejudice if not 

‘Pick anyone off the street would my essay make sense to them.

Key Questions : What is the main point to make, can i back up my argument, is the evidence relevant, accurate and up to date, is this view based on false logic

Either describing ( facts , why are these facts important) or being analytical ( pick up key issues, precise what information you use and challenge )

Set Task

For the set task I did some research into Ian Howorth and his work called ‘Arcadia’.

‘The images in this series capture a retro nostalgia and constantly question our preconceived ideas of beauty. Arcadia takes us from the serene if not metronomic seaside towns of the South to the Working Mens Clubs and forgotten factories of the North. Through his unique style and mastery of film, Ian highlights a contemporary Britain suffocated by its past whilst allowing the viewer to draw their own conclusions.’

I think the imagery is slightly before my time however it still allows me to be slightly reminiscent of my childhood for example the caravan’s and bowls on the green 

A nostalgia linked to the seaside parts of Britain 

‘Arcadia has been referred to in popular culture as a utopian vision for centuries. A fictional place which is fertile and bountiful. A promised land of milk and honey. Held aloft by artists, poets and playwrights as a depiction of one’s individual paradise. Now eroded by times relentless indifference to change, it remains lodged in our collective psyche as a touchstone.’

Collective hauntology? - the record player becomes more popular after 2010 - became a staple of pop culture 

Hauntology technology is almost a search for a utopia - we created and created for years never fully achieving this futuristic idea we had for after 2010ish then began more to revert back to old school technology calling is fashionable. 

This collective nostalgia shows how we are suck still in time , at the end of history.

Arcadia as a term  is linked to greek mythology and is a poetic shaped place - a utopia  - Howorths work is  almost a ‘poetic’ version of Britain's past that we are nostalgic about and retreat to for comfort from fear of the future.

Well, what would be a good title for this...

Hello Peep´s, tbh, I don´t have a nam for this post, and usually, I alays find one. But toda, Idk how to put everything I want to wite in one title. This text is like a real personal one, and I don´t even know if I´´m able to find the right words because my mind is a mess I can´t tidy up. - Have you ever had a situation when you wanted to talk to someone and really feel the need to, not because there´s something important to tell, just because yu´d like to talk about anything WITH THIS PERSON Normally, it´s okay for me to wait for a person, but when I get a quick text like "half an hour, then we can talk" after hours of waiting for an answer, I start to feel replaced by whatever. LIke "wow, thank you for taking time, no need to hurry mate, I haven´t been waiting like...uhm...THE WHOLE DAY" I know that it´s acc not the person´s fault, but sometimes I start to wonder about those situations. I mean, a text like "sorry, can we talk later" during the waiting time would be perfect, but normally, there comes NOTHING. And yeahh I know, I also put my phone away and leave for a couple hours, but I´m telling that I´ll be busy. ANd yes sure, it´s okay to not have time. I hope someone understands my problem. The thing is that I first yell at the person why I´m not worth a short message, but then I apologize and say that it was stupid to be mad about real normal thing. But at the same time, I still feel a lil mad bcs I still feel replaced even though I know I´m not. That´s the struggle of my life, end of story. - And here´s a quick funfact: I wastexting my boyfriend and he wasn´t replying, and when he did, exactly what I wrote happened. I decided to text back "Ok" and leave my phone in my room and go write a blog entry because this gives me chills. So basically, He might´ve already texted me back and I´m doing exactly the same wahat I´m so mad about. Yep, I need to chill because I miss him and want to text him all the time but we both have things to do. wow, ok, buckle your seatbelts this is a backstory and will be a lONG ANSWER.

i have had this blog since 2011! IT used to be call 12tinyteapots! And i used it with my sister for poetry and memes. THEN It was propinquity, when I was a huge fan of music (as a whole) and then I got really into youtube in like 2012/13 and made a (now forgotten) sideblog for youtubers. (dnp, o2l, shane dawson, onision etc..) SOOO I used this as a blog for memes.

Then i actually stopped liking a lot of youtubers, and i got into 1d and 5sos on tumblr more. and this was a 1d blog, i ended up getting a ton of followers, which are now inactive blogs… but still. so it was mgcliffxrd for a while. and then i stopped liking them and was super e m o in 2014/15ish not only that i was halfway through highschool and it seemed childish? idk?

now in 2015 my bff and i got super into youtube again but only connor franta and dnp. so this blog evolved into memes and youtube again (which is what it is now) (i also at this time was into superwholock and just refound that mess of a sideblog)

the 5sos username wasn’t fitting anymore and so i wanted to choose a more general lowkey url that i wouldnt want to change and if i lost interest in these things again i would be ok to keep it the same. so i chose forgetfulassistance

the url is actually the title of one of my favourite songs by an awesome indie canadian band! the song is about being hella gay and you can read the lyrics here as like i think they relate to dnp HARDCORE js. the song is also a bop 

and in 2016 lo and behold! I’m a senior i gave up on dnp after their book came out. I bought it and was just like yeah i think im over this.. and i was focused on like schools and being seniors and the school musical and boyfriends/girlfriends and stuff. I also thought the ph*ndom was super negative and just not a good space at the time i made a post calling it out too s o then i covered all my dnp with memes and sort of left tumblr all together. 

(i also think a huge part of leaving then was me being severely depressed and just seeing everyone meeting dnp and just all the bs in my life and on top of that living in the middle of fucking no where canada it costing upwards of $700 to see them and feel like a part of the phandom took a huge toll on 17 year old me)

BUT NOW, ya bitch is 19! she lives in the heart of NYC shes LIVING HER LIFE doing musical theatre shit everyday, having a blast. then i got homesick so my bff and i watched easter baking together on ft and then i remembered my blog and came back to it and just cringed at myself. from 2-5 years ago. and i realized that i still really appreciate and enjoy the content that dan and phil post, and i will reblog the gifs and some textposts and i find to be ~good memes~ but tbh im not as into it as i was like yeah i want to talk abt the tour and them but im not like ALL over them and their relationship. plus like O T H E R super major crap i have to worry abt… i also can really relate to dan and appreciate him talking about his depression as thats one of the things i struggle to talk about especially in my career because if you put your depression on a dance medical directors will read that as unmotivated. 

SO MORAL OF THE STORY, dnp got me back into tumblr. and i love this site, and ive had this url for years so im not going to change it bc i like it. as for my profile picture, thats from someone who saw my inTeresting face and decided to draw me and i thought it was amazing,, the rest of my blog i like to keep p general so that if i lose/gain interest in something i dont have to like make any huge changes thats all.
