Tracking down Pallas
Pallas is the name given to the second asteroid discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Wilhelm Olbers. He discovered both asteroids Pallas and Vesta, and named the asteroid for Pallas-Athene from Greek Mythology who was the patron goddess of Athens Greece. Olbers was upset Piazzi had beaten him in the race to find the first asteroid, so he named the asteroid to upset the Roman, him giving it…

Eye see you… 👁
Back in 1996, Nasa Hubble revealed the hourglass shape of this young planetary nebula located about 8,000 light-years away. In previous images taken from the ground, the nebula looked like a pair of large outer rings with a smaller central one, but the finer details could not be seen.
Planetary nebulae are created by the death of Sun-like stars: the star collapses to form a dense and hot white dwarf star. At the same time, the dying star throws off its outer layers of material, forming an elaborate cloud of gas and dust known as a planetary nebula. This isn’t an uncommon phenomenon, and yet, this “eye” star is a little unique: it should be at the center of the nebula, but it’s off center.
Hubble also revealed other new and unexpected features in the nebula. For example, there is a pair of intersecting elliptical rings in the central region, which appear to be the rims of a smaller hourglass. There are also the intricate patterns of the etchings on the hourglass walls. There are a few possible explanations for the arc-like etchings – for instance, they could be the remnants of shells ejected from the star when it was younger.
This picture was composed of three separate images taken by Hubble’s Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 in the light of ionized nitrogen (represented by red), hydrogen (green), and doubly ionized oxygen (blue).
Image description: This nebula has an interesting appearance: what looks like a turquoise blue eye stares right at you from the center of a red-orange hourglass-like shape made from two interlocking circles – like a Venn diagram turned on its side. The circles each have arcs within them. The darkness of space forms the backdrop of this image.

With NASA’s Webb, Dying Star’s Energetic Display Comes Into Full Focus
New images from Webb’s MIRI instrument, which was managed by NASA JPL through launch, reveals previously unseen layers of a dramatic cosmic scene.
Gas and dust ejected by a dying star at the heart of NGC 1514 came into complete focus thanks to mid-infrared data from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope. Its rings, which are only detected in infrared light, now look like “fuzzy” clumps arranged in tangled patterns, and a network of clearer holes close to the central stars shows where faster material punched through.
“Before Webb, we weren’t able to detect most of this material, let alone observe it so clearly,” said Mike Ressler, a researcher and project scientist for Webb’s MIRI (Mid-Infrared Instrument) at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. He discovered the rings around NGC 1514 in 2010 when he examined the image from NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). “With MIRI’s data, we can now comprehensively examine the turbulent nature of this nebula,” he said.
This scene has been forming for at least 4,000 years — and will continue to change over many more millennia. At the center are two stars that appear as one in Webb’s observation, and are set off with brilliant diffraction spikes. The stars follow a tight, elongated nine-year orbit and are draped in an arc of dust represented in orange.
One of these stars, which used to be several times more massive than our Sun, took the lead role in producing this scene. “As it evolved, it puffed up, throwing off layers of gas and dust in in a very slow, dense stellar wind,” said David Jones, a senior scientist at the Institute of Astrophysics on the Canary Islands, who proved there is a binary star system at the center in 2017.
Once the star’s outer layers were expelled, only its hot, compact core remained. As a white dwarf star, its winds both sped up and weakened, which might have swept up material into thin shells.
Its Hourglass Shape
Webb’s observations show the nebula is tilted at a 60-degree angle, which makes it look like a can is being poured, but it’s far more likely that NGC 1514 takes the shape of an hourglass with the ends lopped off. Look for hints of its pinched waist near top left and bottom right, where the dust is orange and drifts into shallow V-shapes.
What might explain these contours? “When this star was at its peak of losing material, the companion could have gotten very, very close,” Jones said. “That interaction can lead to shapes that you wouldn’t expect. Instead of producing a sphere, this interaction might have formed these rings.”
Though the outline of NGC 1514 is clearest, the hourglass also has “sides” that are part of its three-dimensional shape. Look for the dim, semi-transparent orange clouds between its rings that give the nebula body.
A Network of Dappled Structures
The nebula’s two rings are unevenly illuminated in Webb’s observations, appearing more diffuse at bottom left and top right. They also look fuzzy, or textured. “We think the rings are primarily made up of very small dust grains,” Ressler said. “When those grains are hit by ultraviolet light from the white dwarf star, they heat up ever so slightly, which we think makes them just warm enough to be detected by Webb in mid-infrared light.”
In addition to dust, the telescope also revealed oxygen in its clumpy pink center, particularly at the edges of the bubbles or holes.
NGC 1514 is also notable for what is absent. Carbon and more complex versions of it, smoke-like material known as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, are common in planetary nebulae (expanding shells of glowing gas expelled by stars late in their lives). Neither were detected in NGC 1514. More complex molecules might not have had time to form due to the orbit of the two central stars, which mixed up the ejected material. A simpler composition also means that the light from both stars reaches much farther, which is why we see the faint, cloud-like rings.
What about the bright blue star to the lower left with slightly smaller diffraction spikes than the central stars? It’s not part of this nebula. In fact, this star lies closer to us.
This planetary nebula has been studied by astronomers since the late 1700s. Astronomer William Herschel noted in 1790 that NGC 1514 was the first deep sky object to appear genuinely cloudy — he could not resolve what he saw into individual stars within a cluster, like other objects he cataloged. With Webb, our view is considerably clearer.
NGC 1514 lies in the Taurus constellation approximately 1,500 light-years from Earth.
More About Webb and MIRI
The James Webb Space Telescope is the world’s premier space science observatory. Webb will solve mysteries in our solar system, look beyond to distant worlds around other stars, and probe the mysterious structures and origins of our universe and our place in it. Webb is an international program led by NASA with its partners, ESA (European Space Agency) and the Canadian Space Agency.
MIRI was developed through a 50-50 partnership between NASA and ESA. A division of Caltech in Pasadena, California, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory led the U.S. contribution to MIRI. JPL also led development of MIRI’s cryocooler, done in collaboration with Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach, California, and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

The Central Galactic Sun Talon Abraxas
The energy of the Central Galactic Sun is concentrated fire energy that can either be extremely repelling (literally burning off disturbances or energy cords into the karmic worlds) or extremely loving (sustaining, nurturing and transmutative) depending on one’s intention and karmic purity. Mysterious Alignment of Stars Near the Galactic Center When the stars align! Planetary nebulae are clouds of gas expelled by stars at the end of their lives. The ejected clouds are ‘ghosts’ of their dying stars, forming beautiful structures such as an hourglass or butterfly shape.
Almost a decade ago, Manchester PhD student Bryan Rees discovered the alignment of planetary nebulae. However, it remained unexplained.
A collaboration of scientists from The University of Manchester and the University of Hong Kong have found a source for the mysterious alignment of stars near the Galactic Centre. Along with confirming the alignment, scientists found a particular group of leads that is responsible, namely close binary stars.
Scientists investigated a collection of so-called planetary nebulae in the Galactic Bulge, close to the Milky Way‘s center. These nebulae are unrelated, originate from distinct stars, were born at various times, and live their entire lives in multiple locations. However, the study discovered that many of these shapes align nearly parallel to the galactic plane (our Milky Way) in the sky and similar patterns.
This is in the same direction as found by Bryan Rees a decade ago.
The alignment is only present in planetary nebulae with a close star companion, according to the latest study directed by University of Hong Kong student Shuyu Tan. A tighter orbit than Mercury has to the Sun is taken by the companion star around the primary star at the planetary nebula’s center.
The alignment is not present in the planetary nebulae that do not exhibit near partners, which suggests that the alignment may be related to the initial separation of the binary components during the star’s formation.

January’s Night Sky Notes: Connecting the ‘Dots’ with Asterisms
by Kat Troche of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific
In our December Night Sky Notes, we mentioned that the Orion constellation has a distinct hourglass shape that makes it easy to spot in the night sky. But what if we told you that this is not the complete constellation, but rather, an asterism?
An asterism is a pattern of stars in the night sky, forming shapes that make picking out constellations easy. Cultures throughout history have created these patterns as part of storytelling, honoring ancestors, and timekeeping. Orion’s hourglass is just one of many examples of this, but did you know Orion’s brightest knee is part of another asterism that spans six constellations, weaving together the Winter night sky? Many asterisms feature bright stars that are easily visible to the naked eye. Identify these key stars, and then connect the dots to reveal the shape.
Asterisms Through the Seasons
Stars that make up the Winter Circle, as seen on January 1, 2024. Credit: Sky Safari
Try looking for these asterisms this season and beyond:
Winter Circle – this asterism, also known as the Winter Hexagon, makes up a large portion of the Winter sky using stars Rigel, Aldebaran, Capella, Pollux, Procyon, and Sirius as its points. Similarly, the Winter Triangle can be found using Procyon, Sirius, and Betelgeuse as points. Orion’s Belt is also considered an asterism.
Diamond of Virgo – this springtime asterism consists of the following stars: Arcturus, in the constellation Boötes; Cor Caroli, in Canes Venatici; Denebola in Leo, and Spica in Virgo. Sparkling at the center of this diamond is the bright cluster Coma Berenices, or Bernice's Hair – an ancient asterism turned constellation!
Summer Triangle – as the nights warm up, the Summer Triangle dominates the heavens. Comprising the bright stars Vega in Lyra, Deneb in Cygnus, and Altair in Aquila, this prominent asterism is the inspiration behind the cultural festival Tanabata. Also found is Cygnus the Swan, which makes up the Northern Cross asterism.
Great Square of Pegasus – by Autumn, the Great Square of Pegasus can be seen. This square-shaped asterism takes up a large portion of the sky, and consists of the stars: Scheat, Alpheratz, Markab and Algenib.

This image shows the region around the Hyades star cluster, the nearest open cluster to us. The Hyades cluster is very well-studied due to its location, but previous searches for planets have produced only one. A new study led by Jay Farihi of the University of Cambridge, UK, has now found the atmospheres of two burnt-out stars in this cluster — known as white dwarfs — to be “polluted” by rocky debris circling the star. Inset, the locations of these white dwarf stars are indicated — stars known as WD 0421+162, and WD 0431+126.
NASA, ESA, STScI, and Z. Levay (STScI)
Tracing these outlines can guide you to objects like galaxies and star clusters. The Hyades, for example, is an open star cluster in the Taurus constellation with evidence of rocky planetary debris. In 2013, Hubble Space Telescope’s Cosmic Origins Spectrograph was responsible for breaking down light into individual components. This observation detected low levels of carbon and silicon – a major chemical for planetary bodies. The Hyades can be found just outside the Winter Circle and is a favorite of both amateur and professional astronomers alike.
How to Spot Asterisms
Use Star Maps and Star Apps – Using star maps or stargazing apps can help familiarize yourself with the constellations and asterisms of the night sky.
Get Familiar with Constellations – Learning the major constellations and their broader shapes visible each season will make spotting asterisms easier.
Use Celestial Landmarks –Orient yourself by using bright stars, or recognizable constellations. This will help you navigate the night sky and pinpoint specific asterisms. Vega in the Lyra constellation is a great example of this.
Learn more about how to stay warm while observing this Winter with our upcoming mid-month article on the Night Sky Network page through NASA's website!

End of semester, facts on Dumbell nebula
The Dumbbell, a nearby planetary nebula residing more than 1,200 light-years away, is the result of an old star that has shed its outer layers in a glowing display of colour. The nebula, also known as Messier 27 (M27), was the first planetary nebula ever discovered. French astronomer Charles Messier spotted it in 1764 (nasa 3). Ah, the Dumbbell Nebula! It's a fascinating object in the nigNt sky. Also known as Messier 27, it's a planetary nebula located in the constellation Vulpecula. The Dumbbell Nebula gets its name from its distinctive shape, resembling a dumbbell or an hourglass. It's formed from the outer layers of a dying star that has shed its outer layers into space. The central star, which is the remnant of the original star, can be seen at the center of the nebula. It's a popular target for astrophotographers due to its brightness and unique structure. Capturing its vibrant colors and intricate details is quite a treat! The Dumbbell Nebula is really a showcase of the end stages of stellar evolution. When a star like our Sun gets old, it starts to lose its outer layers into space, creating a planetary nebula. The term "planetary" is a bit misleading though, because it has nothing to do with planets. It's just because these nebulas, through early telescopes, appeared round like planets. The Dumbbell Nebula is one of the closest and brightest of its kind, making it a favorite for amateur astronomers. It's about 1,360 light-years away, which is pretty close in cosmic terms (Nasa). With a good telescope, you can see the details of the gas clouds that used to be part of the star, glowing due to the ultraviolet light from the hot central star. It's like a cosmic recycling program, showing us the beauty of the universe's life cycle! Sure, diving even deeper into the Dumbbell Nebula, we see that it's not just a simple shape. The nebula has complex structures with knots, loops, and filaments of gas. These are all part of the turbulent history of the star's demise. The colors you see in images are due to different gases getting excited by the central star's radiation. Oxygen emits a blue-green light, hydrogen gives off red, and nitrogen glows in low-intensity red. It's a cosmic painting in progress, with the physics of the universe acting as the artist. And because it's a planetary nebula, it gives us a glimpse into the future of our own solar system when, billions of years from now, our Sun will go through a similar transformation.
When you look at the Dumbbell Nebula with an in-depth perspective, you're essentially peering into the heart of a star's dramatic transformation. The central star, now a white dwarf, was once much like our own Sun. As it aged, it expanded into a red giant and eventually shed its outer layers. These layers are what we see as the nebula.
The intricate details within the nebula, such as the knots and filaments, are areas where the ejected material is denser. The patterns are likely caused by variations in the star's loss of mass, interactions with stellar winds, and the magnetic field of the dying star (Nasa). Over time, these structures will disperse into space, enriching the interstellar medium with heavier elements that could one day be part of new stars and planets.
The Dumbbell Nebula is also a study in how light and elements interact. The white dwarf at the center emits intense ultraviolet radiation that excites the atoms in the nebula, causing them to glow. This process, called fluorescence, is similar to how neon lights work.
The study of objects like the Dumbbell Nebula helps astronomers understand the life cycle of stars and the chemical enrichment of galaxies. It's a reminder that the universe is constantly changing and that the end of one star's life can sow the seeds for the next generation. It's a stellar example of the cycle of cosmic birth, life, and death.

2023, Week of September 17, lower 48
This week we get the rise of 28 Scorpio. This is the degree for the king of the fairies bends affectionately over the sleeping figure of Puck [mfn/] from Shakespeare’s Midsummer’s Night Dream [/mfn] and sprinkles him with pixie-dust. The shining sparks form a whirl of images which enter Puck’s dream. Martin Goldsmith [mfn/] in his “Revised Sabian Symbols” second edition, published by Red Wheel…

As we come out of this dark cycle, it can feel like moving through the narrow part of an hourglass, where the micro and macro are being compressed together and squeezed through the bottleneck. We are processing the dark eon of these controller power abuses along with the accumulative pain of the suffering that is being inflicted upon the Earth, while we come into a deeper knowing and comprehension that it was never actually about us at a deeply personal level. We may have had many spiritual lessons that our soul could learn in this dark cycle, through incarnations in this density. We may have come to the planet in order to find completion and healing from other lifetimes where there was abuse or dysfunction and this is the lifetime that we are going to clear many of these inherited overlays or karmic issues.
That's why this ascension process has been so exceptionally hard for so many, as this is the life time many souls are completing incarnational cycles based on consciousness slavery. Those awake and aware to the ascension cycle are choosing to end the accumulative karmic patterns of consciousness slavery this time. You are not going to repeat this cycle of abuse and pain again. This means that you must see what has happened to your lifestream in order to enslave your mind.
To graduate you must see the impact of those interactions with the darkness that felt such immense pain, in order to finally heal from those patterns.
Once we can see it, then we must choose to stop allowing darkness to inflict harm and slavery upon ourselves and others. We must stop the behaviors where darkness creates harm in our consciousness and choose to align ourselves with the Godhead. This happens easily when we intend to align ourselves with Natural Laws and Divine Will, not my will but Divine Will, and this intention will help to take us through this very difficult and challenging process with as much ease and grace as possible.
We are in the end game stages of the final conflict for Earth.
Message for Christos Mission Family.
For awakened Starseeds connected to the Cosmic Emerald Order Elohei lineages of the Cosmic Christos Solar Dragons with cellular memory records of our spiritual mission, we are enduring the final battle in the timeline wars, which has amplified the energetic challenges we face at multidimensional scale. Not only are we enduring the surface physical war with military grade mind control with brainwashed people promoting the harmful bio-weapon injection designed to destroy the original angelic human DNA, through forced genetic bonding with nano composites of self-assembling metal materials used for AI alien hybridization, but we are also facing extremely hostile dark entity backlash when awakened Starseeds are singled out because we are the genetic holders of the original Diamond Sun Founders DNA records that anchor the planetary ascension timeline.
There is no sugar coating this phase of heightened spiritual warfare, the current state of the anti-Christ death culture instigates the agonizing desperation of wanting to escape, to flee from those in the global population who are gripped in carrying out harmful anti-human agendas of self-destructive madness. We must remember that we were made for these tumultuous times, as we are facing the heat of this spiritual battle for the ultimate liberation of angelic humanity so that all humans can have the opportunity to evolve into the consciousness freedom that exists in the future timelines. Each individual is either currently asleep, or awake at this position of the bifurcation in the timelines to know without doubt that humanity, our children are under aggressive siege.
While facing this reality, our most potent state is to remember that God is Love, and to do our very best to embody this inner blessing as a prayerful wish for all on the planet to achieve this consciousness freedom someday.
Beloved Cosmic Christos family of Emerald Founder Elohim and Indigo Blue Ray, we have been preparing lifetimes to be fearless in the face of these end time challenges and to awaken to remember that we must build the architecture of loving kindness and compassion inside of us in order to return our knowledge of the authentic Cosmic Holy Mother Sophia into this world. We are blessed with the privilege to know that the ultimate power of God and the truth of the Inner Christos is with us now through the presence of our Cosmic Parents, and that divine alignment within our crystal heart to be in right relationship to our highest loving expression, is all that really matters.
Take peace and comfort in this ultimate truth that IS our direct relationship with our God creator, knowing you are not alone in this spiritual warfare, as we are sharing this heavy burden together.
Our unique energy signature and spiritual name is known and written in the eternal sacred scrolls of God in the ancient records of the perfect Cosmic Order, thus none of us will be left behind no matter what happens.

The Cosmic Christos Metatron Collective entered this fallen system with the mission of rebuilding the Lyran gate and helping to repair the 8D layers in the Metagalactic Core.
We look at why this was necessary and how their failure and capture have become entangled with alien technologies of reversal fields, used to syphon and entrap. Recently, Guardians have been able to access pre-fall and pre-invasion templates for correcting the architecture in this present timeline.
The Vatican City in Rome is one of the NAA Black Sun entity’s main control bases and global headquarters as the spiritual center used for carrying out the satanic ritual and funding their global elite pedophile satanic agendas.
We are observing the top hierarchy of nonhuman controller power that designed the religious centers for the purpose of global human slavery and building their satanic empires to control the planet, -crumble.
We are living through the personal mystery of waking up to find out that earth humans have been existing in a fallen system. We are in the process of undergoing a spiritual liberation of our planet, in which everything we thought was true is being tested and challenged during this time.
We all have been here before, standing at a precipice of major evolutionary change where the same choices were presented to us, Love or Fear.
Much of the current crisis and the themes we are facing now are steeped in our hidden Galactic history. We must ask ourselves, how do we actually choose a different future, an ascending timeline that benefits all human beings? If we can do our part to stay out of fear and continually choose love and peace, we can create a link through time in which our present timeline can phase lock into the future timeline of the Christos realignment, where spiritual freedom and human freedom has already manifested.

Karma Music Video Thoughts
So I mentioned some of this before, but I wanted to do a better deep dive of some of the things I see in the video, specifically the different outfits. My thought is thus: In addition to being about her eras living and dying, it's also a celestial mythology analog. I took a very literal approach to the eras, matching them in order with the way the planets are aligned-which leads to some strange parings but also some really brilliant ones. WARNING: Lots to read ahead.
Justice/The Sun/Debut
Cultist/Mercury/Fearless though the Rep vibe is strong obviously.
Dorothy/Earth/Speak Now is a retort to critics, which may be the three fiendish figures on the other side of the book.
Hourglass twins/Mars and its twin moons/Red (THE RED PLANET) And 22 with the twin time taylors
Housewife on cat/Luna/1989 (People have already noted the Blank Space visual similarities)
Stairs outfit with Ice Spice/Jupiter. Jupiter is the roman equivalent of Zeus, and the scene represents Taylor taking 'her friends to the summit' which is the peak of Olympus home of the gods. we get the cute 'moon to saturn' reference, which also ties the preceding and following scenes together. Juptier is also the KING of the gods, and this ascension scene definitely looks like two queens to me/Rep This doesn't feel like a rep moment, but i'm following through on the pattern. If someone knows more than me please correct me.
lightbulb into 5 lightbulbs/Saturn/Lover (The light here is golden which matches song ideas presented on Lover.)
Te Fiti or more probably Gaia/Uranus is the Greek titan of the sky, married to Gaia. Ice spice plays Uranus in this scene, pairing with Taylor as Gaia/Folklore
Charon/Pluto --This is almost too perfect, because Pluto is the roman version of Hades, and Charon is of course the one who ferries the souls of the dead/Evermore is a pretty somber album, so this matches the mood i feel.
Casual/No analog because we've left the album dream/Midnights something something midnight, something something 2blue8black
Ice spice outfits:
Venus/Venus literally doing the birth of Aphrodite here, explaining the absence of Venus from the planetary lineup.
Jupiter outfit with Taylor
Uranus
Crossing the underworld with Taylor
Sadly i don't know enough about the early albums to fill in my missing blanks. The alignment of Taylor outfits 10 to the # of studio albums being the same feels significant, but maybe the order i assumed isn't right. Please send asks or reblog with your questions in the tags. I'd love to discuss this more.

The Hourglass Nebula
“This is an image of MyCn18, a young planetary nebula located about 8,000 light-years away, taken with the Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) aboard the Hubble Space Telescope (HST).
This Hubble image reveals the true shape of MyCn18 to be an hourglass with an intricate pattern of 'etchings' in its walls. This picture has been composed from three separate images taken in the light of ionized nitrogen (represented by red), hydrogen (green), and doubly-ionized oxygen (blue).
The results are of great interest because they shed new light on the poorly understood ejection of stellar matter which accompanies the slow death of Sun-like stars. In previous ground-based images, MyCn18 appears to be a pair of large outer rings with a smaller central one, but the fine details cannot be seen.”

chart patterns: t-squares
In a natal chart, there are 10 planets that are represented. These planets are usually arranged in configurations called chart patterns. I have previously covered the bucket and bowl configurations; another notable chart pattern is a more challenging one called the t-square. A t-square is a chart pattern in which two planets in opposition both aspect a third planet by square. This is one of the most common planetary patterns, it’s estimated that under half of all charts have planets that form this pattern. Another common planetary pattern is known as the hourglass pattern, which I will cover in my next installment. T-squares denote a sense of struggle. This is a very Capricornian/Martian type of configuration because the native has to go through trials and tribulations in order to overcome them. It also is a very dynamic pattern that sparks action in order to reach a resolution; it’s an amalgam of edginess, energy, and stress. It’s three-fourths of a square, and it symbolizes facets of ourselves which are at odds with one another.
When looking at a t-square, look at the two planets the make up the opposition, then pay special attention to the planet that the third leg consists of. This third leg is what’s known as the “focal planet”, in which this particular planet is at the midpoint of the opposition. From there, analyze both the opposition and square aspects that make up the t-square. Both ends of the opposition are in square to the focal planet. As in the basket configuration, the aspect that sticks out is the solution to the problem posed by the opposition. In the case of the t-square, it would be the focal planet (aka the apex). This is where your greatest legacy will be. Also, look at where the T-square is situated; it can only be made up of three sets of modalities: cardinal, mutable, or fixed. Cardinal t-squares call for correct action (cardinal t-squares are the easiest to master), mutable t-squares call for correct thought, and fixed t-squares call for humility (this goes without saying, but fixed t-squares are the hardest ones to overcome).
In this example, we shall examine the chart of Nina Simone, who had a T-square.
There was a reason why Miss Simone was so divine; the lady had a Capricorn moon as well as a Cardinal t-square in her chart with a 2nd house Uranus in Aries as her apex. Let’s dissect this t-square:
It is in cardinal signs. Cardinal signs are initiatory, active, ardent, intense, ambitious, and enthusiastic. Their minds are quick and insatiable. They can be selfish, hasty, domineering and inconsiderate, and fail to finish what they start.
The planets involved are Uranus, Pluto, and the moon.
Both ends of her opposition are quite relevant to her temperament, as well as her focal planet; she was a conflicted and tormented soul.
If the opposition were not as prominent, then it would be because the focal planet is supplemented by supporting facet of the chart (a great example of this is if Saturn is the focal planet and it conjuncts the midheaven). This will ensure that the most prominent facet of the personality is centered solely on this focal planet.
The planets and houses involved are her Pluto in Cancer in the 6th which directly opposes her 12th house moon in Capricorn. This aspect is what makes up the main opposition. Consider the planets: the moon and Pluto are secretive, transformative, and powerful. Uranus is the odd one out; it is a revolutionary force. This suggested that she demanded a great deal from life and was naturally defiant of authority. Squaring this opposition, to make the third leg, is her Uranus in Aries in the 2nd. This leg suggests that she was a progressive, rousing crusader fighting for social change. This cardinal t-square falls in earth houses, meaning she was a trailblazer with gravitas, intellect, authority, and self-worth in the most. To break this down, I shall dissect each part of the t-square in further detail, starting with the opposition of her Moon in Capricorn in the 12th and her 6th house Pluto in Cancer.
As I’ve said before, oppositions often involve restrictions posed on a person by outside forces, be it people, places, or things. This need for action in order to satisfy her self-worth ran counter to her relationships with her family (Cancer) which also ran counter to her career (Capricorn). Cancer versus Capricorn manifests in a schism between the domestic sphere (the family) and the professional sphere (her work as a singer/pianist). Through the filter of the house opposition, it also manifested in a division between those who she felt she was working for (6th house) and her artistic talent that set her free (12th house). She didn’t tolerate working with colleagues who were inefficient or who obstructed her in any way, even if it was her family (Pluto in Cancer in the 6th). Sometimes work could be an uncomfortable place for her, as her relationship with her co-workers was marred by undercurrents of intrigue and treachery (such as her manager/second husband who physically and psychologically abused her). The roots of her emotional problems were found deeply embedded in her unconscious, which she toughed out and made them work for here, releasing these emotions brilliantly through her work (Moon in Capricorn in the 12th). She was a bit brutal in her relationship with her daughter (Pluto), and that resulted in a complex relationship. Also the people that were in her life that were supposed to protect her [mainly her husband and her immediate family] weren’t there, and that carried some emotional scars (Cancer). But she showed a stoic and steely resolve in the face of adversity (Capricorn) and released her demons through her art (moon in the 12th house) and in doing so, set others free. She is revered and is a massive influence to an endless list of people (moon in Capricorn): singers, songwriters, musicians, and beyond.
Next, we’ll delve into her focal planet, which is her Uranus in Aries in the 2nd house. This particular focal planet meant that she belonged to a generation in which freedom of thought and action was very important. As a member of a marginalized group, Simone didn’t only consider freedom of thought and action important, it was extremely essential to her sense of self-worth and dignity (2nd house), and this led to her being extremely outspoken and blunt, on and off stage. She was known for her temper and frequent outbursts (Aries).
To quote Maya Angelou,
"She is loved or feared, adored or disliked, but few who have met her music or glimpsed her soul react with moderation".
My kind of lady. She was not content to simply wait around for things to happen; she showed a pioneering spirit, and was courageous and zealous (even aggressive) in following her causes and ideals. She not only welcomed and spearheaded change (Uranus), she demanded it (Aries). For herself and for everyone like her. This was her focus, and since she had a cardinal T-square, this was the correct action for her life, this was her release, this was her greatest achievement. And so it was that this was her solution to the problem posed by her opposition. As such, her legacy as a legend, freedom fighter, and influential artist is sealed.
