The explanation for why totk’s story is so Not Great and how disconnected from its predecessor it feels being that the devs didn’t want to alienate new players who didn’t know anything about botw’s story just falls apart the more I think about it. Nothing from this stupid half a plot works unless the player is familiar with specific details from the better games that came before it.

The believability of Link and Zelda’s connection to each other hinges on you knowing about the nuance of their relationship in botw. The ancient sages fighting with the champions’ arms and divine beast helms will only be impactful to botw/aoc players because totk doesn’t bother to explain the significance of that callback at all. Fi’s cameo is meaningless unless you either got every memory in botw or finished the master trial dlc (and know about her from skyward sword). You’ll only get the full context of Teba being sidelined in favour of a 12-year old if you played a specific chapter of Age of Calamity’s second DLC. Like sorry but I think Nintendo just made a bad story tbh

HOW FAST THE SCENE FLIPPED, HOW QUICKLY- WHATEVER THAT THING (IT DEFINITELY WASN'T THE ACHERON WE KNOW) WAS TOOK THE LEAD and LITERALLY tossed Black Swan around like a helpless bird. a PREDATOR chasing their PREY

AND THE PREY IS BLACK FUCKING SWAN???? THE FUCKING MEMOKEEPER FROM THE GARDEN OF RECOLLECTION?? THE MYSTERIOUS AND ELEGANT SOOTHSAYER???

To see Black Swan of ALL characters in this game so far be filled with such visceral fear and trepidation, to be tossed around at the MERCY of something that could have so EASILY killed her just like. t h a t. is beyond insane.

this is basically a crack au that takes place in the universe and world of the owl house. Dew is basically Luz, and finds himself in the demon realm while wandering (or taken) through a strange portal door. Anton, basically Eda, is very fascinated with humans and decides to keep Dew and try to teach him magic until he can get the portal fixed. totally (he’s not letting him go). except everything gets a lot more complicated because Pierce is Belos and like, imagine something that makes absolutely 0 sense for a second: imagine if Hunter somehow escaped Belos and was on the run, and he figured out how to practice wild magic, and he was obsessed with humans and lived in the owl house (and Eda never existed). that’s basically Anton here. so he simultaneously plays the role of Hunter and Eda and im sure i sound absolutely insane right now but i don’t care. am i ever going to write anything with this? no

joke headcanon: the original kaiser and angelic buster storylines more accurately capture what happened with velderoth and all, but the new version is their super condensed recollection because it’s been so long they’ve kind of forgotten a lot of the finer details, so we end up getting something like

I truly hate that they reduced Landons character into nothing more than a plot device and love interest. Need to move a plot along they found a way to sacrifice Landon to do it. They wanted no humanity Hope and they killed Landon to make it happen. And what really kills me is that it’s not like they didn’t have plenty of opportunities to give him an actual storyline, they just decided not to. They even started to give him a few storylines and then dropped them. Him deciding to learn to fight in s2, his powers. Anything to do with him in the PW( I still don’t understand why they had him say “I will get myself home, no matter what it takes” if they weren’t gonna show us any of if), or him being possessed by malivore. Even limbo they could have done so much more with that than they did. So from s2 onwards Landon went from being Josie’s boyfriend to Hope’s boyfriend. S3 they made a fake him just to be Hope’s boyfriend and s4 he was only there to help move other people storylines along 😤. I also hate that they reduced Hope to being the problem solver. No matter what they problem was they went running to Hope so she could figure it out or make the sacrifice to solve it(that’s something else I also hate. Hope and Landon were always the ones making sacrifices. All theses other characters and you’re telling me that not one of them could make any sacrifice. I thought and hoped that with Alaric in limbo with Landon that Alaric would sacrifice himself so Landon could come back at one point but nope didn’t happen). The only time they didn’t go running to Hope was s4 when her humanity was off. And then it was all “we don’t need you,Hope”, humanity back on and it’s all “we need you Hope.” 😑 and what’s really crazy is that the second her humanity was fully back on she went to fight a God. Bc she was the only one who could do it, so therefore she couldn’t even process her humanity being back on. I swear the way this show treated their two leads will never cease to amaze me.
