ART RAMBLES: as i mentioned on the tags of my last drawing this piece gave me SUCH a headache #i think it's probably cos it was just supposed to be a quick sketch so i used a more stable pencil brush #but then i really liked it so i decided to properly colour it instead of just doing the watercolour thing i usually do for sketches #but with finished pieces i like the lineart to be kinda messy and the sketch to even show through bit #and since i used the more stable brush for the sketch it ended up looking WAY too clean. not like my stuff at all.#so i just started throwing stuff at the wall to see what could make it more interesting. full background! actual lineart! texture layers!#and this here is what i was the happiest with. i don't... love it though. it should be looking way more interesting given the pose #and then i also did the purge girl halfway through this and it looked SO good right out of the bat (pun intended)#so i went a bit into a spiral. did some realistic stuff i'll post soon. and now am trying out a thick black lineart style.#(i'll definitely still use the coloured lines for the sketchy watercolour stuff though. it just looks way too cute)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GALACTA KNIGHT!!!! And congratulations to Meta Knight for experiencing the Cain Instinct for the first time.

Galacta Knight, as you might've been able to tell already, is one of my favorite characters, and KSSU is one of my favorite games (the original SS was my introduction to Kirby!) so I wanted to go all out. Happy day, old man. I pray for at least 20 more years.

Oh, and don't worry! He's not upset about the cake smash, he thinks it's funny. And he got back at him.

As for the in-universe explanation for there being 16 candles in his cake?

... 500+ didn't fit in safely.

ITS THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN!!! 2023 was so warm and cutesy so i thot why not choose more cold cool colours this yr? BOOM back in the 2021 colours but i still prefer the look of a warmer pink to be honest... (◞ ‸ ◟ ; ) and i also like colouring with more vibrant colours... BUT THIS MARKS THE START OF MY NEW ART YEAR RESOLUTION!!! I want to draw with more colours out of my comfort zone next year >:O I wanna start thinking more about my value compositions, and I wanna draw more backgrounds!!!!! I made a mental resolution last year to be more confident at drawing noses and im def getting there (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

#something extraordinary #alexis hall #aroaessidhe 2025 reads #aromantic books #platonic-romcom that really delves into the characters and their relationship and it’s JUST what I crave so much #it’s the kind of aromantic narrative I want more of.#Someone who’s (mostly) content in their identity AND the narrative actively discusses and explores amatonormativity and being aro #(rather than just internalised arophobia; or aro but it’s barely part of the narrative)#I have read the first book in this trilogy and it was okay but not really my vibe; I skipped the second because of this.#I realise belle has some background development in that one but. well #I think this third book as the conclusion of her arc has the most important part of it to me #I appreciate how well this managed to have them both at separate points have to convince the other that eloping is a good idea #really digging into their characters and not feeling completely like ridiculous back and forth #(though of course it’s pretty ridiculous in many ways being the kind of book it is)#it’s very heavy on the witty regency banter which is fun to an extent but there’s a bit much for me - I guess I knew this going in #The pacing at the end is a bit weird with multiple timeskips.#I feel like it could have padded that out a little more and removed some of the earlier bits #Some of those parts like re: his parents felt like they could have used a bit More to them.#I also appreciate the ‘fuck you for planning to punish yourself by getting married to a woman without thinking about #what that’s like for her’ from MULTIPLE women lmao #aro woman x gay man friendships are very important to me. good dynamic.#anyway. did make me cry aromantically

Lyanna was a very privileged girl who was indulged by her family and was taught how to joust- stop right there. You are basically going directly against canon:

‘Lyanna might have carried a sword, if my lord father had allowed it.’ (AGOT, Arya II)

Lyanna was clearly not indulged more than any other female noble child in this world was.

And since she wasn’t allowed to carry a sword it’s obvious that she was also not allowed to joust, which means she was taught in secret or was entirely self taught.

‘Now two children danced across the godswood, hooting at one another as they dueled with broken branches. The girl was the older and taller of the two. Arya! Bran thought eagerly, as he watched her leap up onto a rock and cut at the boy. But that couldn’t be right. If the girl was Arya, the boy was Bran himself, and he had never worn his hair so long. And Arya never beat me playing swords, the way that girl is beating him. She slashed the boy across his thigh, so hard that his leg went out from under him and he fell into the pool and began to splash and shout. “You be quiet, stupid,” the girl said, tossing her own branch aside. “It’s just water. Do you want Old Nan to hear and run tell father?” She knelt and pulled her brother from the pool, but before she got him out again, the two of them were gone.’ (ADWD, Bran III)

These two characters in Bran’s vision are obviously a young Lyanna and Benjen, and it’s quite clear that she was not supposed to be doing this.

So, sorry, but Lyanna’s family had gendered expectations of her like any other noble family—the only difference between the Starks and most others comes from the fact that Lyanna decided to defy these expectations.

The only reason she was so good at ‘male activities’ was because of her own noncompliance. Attributing her deeds as the Knight of the Laughing Tree to naivety/childish idealization of knighthood and the indulgment of men instead of acknowledging her own hard work she was forced to keep secret is oh so feminist of you 🙄
