Hi again. I hope you’re doing alright and I hope I personally didn’t make you feel upset or uncomfortable or anything. I feel part of it is my fault that you feel down about your art…
But I want you to know that you and your art are truly special and wonderful. Even if it is simply just a hobby…
You and your art mean a lot and I hope you know that you are important and you matter very much! ❤️
First thing first, it’s not!!!!! I love your questions it’s just I had some hard time coming up with answers, it’s never your fault don’t say that :’) !!!!!!
I’ll do my best to answer some of your questions, please take all of these with a giant cart of salt I don’t know anything
Do I study art? Yes, I’m currently in college studying animation. Is it worth it? Depends, most of the stuff they teach you can learn online for free, companies don’t really look at their education level when hiring an artist they focus more on the person’s portfolio, if you can get the job done then they would hire you👍 most people here are to build connections and have a environment and peers to motivate themselves to study.
For the second question, how do I balance art and life? The answer is no I don’t :’) the problem with turning your hobby into work is that you don’t get a hobby anymore, I draw for school then I draw for myself it’s all I do I draw, non stop… I’m trying to get into new hobby lately so I don’t burn my passion away it’s a bit hard but it’s going
Third question is it an alright source of income? I don’t have an answer for it yet since I’m still in school, but from what I heard it really depends. Animation jobs are gig based, it’s not a stable career you’ll be running around finding new jobs every few months. Most artists I know have a side job that they can lean onto when they’re in the middle of job hunting, either an Etsy shop or commissions. The pay depends on the studio you’re working for, if it’s a big company then they can pay you okay, it’s a big company at least they have policies and regulations. if it’s small production then it’s hard to say, many are too much work for too little pay.
The animation and gaming industry are not doing well either, so many experienced people are getting laid off lately leaving little chances for newbies it’s a burning dumpster of a industry and don’t even get me started with ai art … I don’t want to sound negative and kills someone’s hopes and dreams but it’s really not the best place to be at the moment, I don’t even know if I want to do animation in the future it’s kinda frustrating
I’ll leave the final decision to you ofc, I’m not saying don’t study art, just that you need to think this through, there are positives like you’re gonna learn so much new stuff to better your work, and you can do something you enjoy as a job, it’s so much better than spending your life doing something you don’t like. But there’re also negatives like it might kill your passion and a job is hard to find

Howdy! I'm back with another Fakemon post- technically these guys wouldn't be in the main story of the fangame I'm making, but would be available as postgame mon found in the Wilawestan Catacombs. I mostly started this idea by going "what if I got to use my favorite form of Ampharos again after all these years" and then, since the Catacombs has a LOT of demon-y fakemon in it, added in the idea of sacrificial lambs and demon summoning until I had these cute little guys! Dex entries under the cut.
Wilawestan Mareep
The Static Pokémon
Dark/Electric
Wilawestan Mareep is a Pokémon so loyal that it will follow its trainer to the ends of the earth- closing its eyes and following the sound of its trainer’s footsteps in a show of blind faith. No amount of abuse can jostle its loyalty- it absorbs love and malevolence in equal measure into the orbs on its body. When petted, its wool generates dark energy- releasing that energy from the orbs on its body lets it manipulate and fix sources of its owner’s frustration. Wild dark-type Pokémon are often noted to keep herds of Wilawestan Mareep, presumably to bolster their power with the energy it provides.
-
Wilawestan Flaafy
The Static Pokémon
Dark/Electric
Wilawestan Flaafy, much like their younger forms, keep their eyes closed all their lives in a show of blind faith for their trainers. This is, however, much more perilous for Flaafy- as their tails grow out, they grow clumsy, tripping over their tails and hurting themselves on the places no longer protected by their wool. The dark energy collected in their wool grows in power with each fall, leading some to allow their Flaffys to repeatedly hurt themselves- but it is only by careful protection and cultivation of true trust that these Pokémon evolve, so any mistreatment of this Pokémon is seen by even the darkest of hearts as wasteful.
-
Wilawestan Ampharos
The Summoning Pokémon
Dark/Dragon
Ancient strains of draconic energy awaken in this variant's final form, causing the orbs in its wool to warp and multiply. It keeps its eyes closed as always- but never needs open them, as pure draconically-charged dark energy renders it impervious to harm by all save for its Trainer. It is said that killing it will unleash power ten times as potent as usual, but even the most cruel evil-doers scoff at the notion of wasting what power caring for it brings. This Pokémon can, by releasing the energy charged by the movement of its wooly mane, summon powerful dark spirits, eliminate its trainer's inconveniences, and even call upon the power inherit to darkness itself. Despite the apocalyptic potential it wields, it will never harm anyone its trainer trusts.

Sometimes you just have one of those moments where the progress we've made as a culture get thrown into stark relief. You look at something and go "Holy shit, that would never have happened when I was a kid."
Today, I had one of those moments when I realized that the teenage boys I'm working with are just. genuinely, openly enthusiastic about going to Build-a-Bear for their outing.
These are sixteen and seventeen year old boys! They just had a whole conversation about what to name their "cute", mostly new squishmallows! They're genuinely excited that they're going to Build-a-Bear this weekend and asking other kids to pick up specific accessories for them!!
Holy shit, that never would've happened when I was 16. None of the boys would have dared to be visibly interested - and neither would most of the girls! There would have been a million gay jokes and "Haha, you're a girl" jokes and "What are you, a baby?" jokes. Teenagers weren't even supposed to care about anything back then!
Less than 15 years later, and I'm watching three 17 year old boys treat all that as not even worthy of comment.
So let's call that a reason for hope. Even when the kids aren't alright, in some ways apparently they are alright. Go Gen Z, honestly. It's so lovely to watch you guys just openly doing and saying stuff that, when I was a teen, would've been a social death sentence.

percy: *intensely watching the news, waiting to hear about something he may have caused*
piper: come on percy, come eat with us. you’ve been sitting there waiting for hours. if something happens, you’ll hear about it eventually. a watched pot never boils
percy, distractedly: yeah and an ignored one boils over
piper: that-
piper, turning to annabeth in confusion: have i been spending too much time with him or is that one of the most logical things i’ve ever heard someone say?
