Lucy & Cooper: Eye to Eye
A/N: So short but needed it out of my head. Vague spoilers for the end of Fallout's first season, so be aware.
L & C: Eye to Eye
Vaultie doesn’t talk much for the first couple of days.
Coop tries not to dwell on it—lot easier for him, lot safer for them, if she keeps her mouth shut. Just…well, hell, it’s one of those things that niggles at him, twitching in the back of his mind like a worm on a hook. Dumb fuckin’ fish that he is, Coop lets it draw him in.
The ghoul gives her a once-over as they settle in for the night. Blood’s still crusted on her uniform, near the corner of her mouth, some of it flecked into her hair. A mottled bruise stretches across her cheek and up over her temple, purple at its center before paling to yellows and greens on the edges. Coop knows it hurts, but Vaultie doesn’t say shit.
A noose and a prolonged stay on death’s door, dehydration, and irradiation hadn’t shut her up, but she’s sitting there, staring into the fire, all banged up and silent.
Cooper chews a sardine ponderously. There’s no taste, not anymore, just the tension of flesh and little bones giving way beneath his teeth. He grunts before sliding the rest of the tray across to her. Vaultie doesn’t take it. He clucks his tongue. “Eat when then eatin’ is good, Vaultie. Get deeper into the Wastes and…well.” he shrugs as if the silence should be all the answer she needs. And it should be, but she just goes on staring with her huge doe eyes.
“I’m not hungry.” Almost as an afterthought, she adds. “Thank you.”
“Do what you like. You’re a big girl. And I ain’t your daddy.”
The phrase jostles something in her head. Vaultie’s whole face screws up—nose scrunching, lips curling—and she opens her mouth as if to speak, only for it to snap shut. A muscle twitches in the corner of her mouth and it’s…it’s a hell of a thing.
He doesn’t see his daughter in her face…doesn’t see Barb. He’s looking in a mirror. It’s two centuries ago, and he’s staring at himself—all offended dignity as he reads something unsavory in a script or listens to a suit wax philosophical about a battlefield they’ll never see.
Vaultie must clock something about his reaction. All the stiffness leaves her posture. She just…deflates, eyes dropping. “I know that,” she says, voice soft. Not the “let me de-escalate this situation” bullshit she’d put on in Filly…just human. Very human and so tired. “I’m sorry—it was wrong of me to snap at you.”
Coop almost laughs. He holds his arms out wide instead. “No harm done.”
She goes back to her staring, back to her silence. Something howls off in the distance.
Out of nowhere, and because it’s all just fuckin’ disorienting—the silence, having somebody around again—the ghoul says, “Reckon you’ll kill him?”
“Excuse me?”
He picks nonexistent grit out of his teeth and spits. “Think you know exactly who I mean, sweetheart.” Vaultie cocks her head to the side. Firelight licks at her skin—it makes his hard lines harder, edges more jagged, but for her? She looks soft and young…a gross oversimplification. There’s steel in her eyes. Coop shrugs, flashing a smile that must look horrible. She doesn’t shrink back. “You find it offends your finer sensibilities and I’ll do it for ya.”
“No.” Her tone leaves no room for debate.
“Vaultie, that’s not a word I’m in the habit of hearing.”
“It’s Lucy,” she corrects. “And I…said what I said.” The girl hugs her arms around herself. “He’s still my dad. I don’t want him…” Vau..Lucy pauses. Her brow furrows, “...Well, I guess I don’t know what I want yet. But…I have time.”
“Less and less of it every day.”
She screws up her nose again. “Maybe. But it’s my choice.” It’s the damnedest thing: the words just hang there for a second, silence broken by the crackle of the fire. And then she seems to actively register what she’s said. It’s Lucy MacLean’s choice. She smiles and nods—brilliant and bloodied and somehow still clean. “But…thank you for offering.”
Like he’s suggested giving up his seat on the bus and not filling her daddy full of lead. Fuckin’ Vaulties…Coop shakes his head, “Anytime, sweetheart.”

Priyaleb is so funny because it’s totally possible that Caleb has no idea Priya is into him. Like yeah she was watching him work out, but then he offered for her to work out with him, so it’s not bizarre that he would just think she admires his athleticism. Also the irony of Priya going “omg he’s totally flirting with me” and Caleb going “alliance! Yeah!”. And Caleb saying he’s dated but never had a girlfriend since he was 5… 🏳️‍🌈? I might be reading it wrong but I just think it’s funny

thought id see some deep and thought-provoking discussions about the philosophical and moral questions posed in atsv but all im seeing is a whole bunch of "the whole spider society is evil and fucked up for trying to save the entire fabric of the multiverse even if they have to bear personal grief for it and miles is the only Good One" and man . expected too much from the 'spends 90% time and energy thirsting for scary big vampire guy' fandom huh

“Born from the Same Ink” Ch. 5 Sneak Peek
Hey fam, not dead.  [Insert good explanation for not updating here] Gonna post an update this weekend. Probably on Friday? Still figuring that part out.
This sneak peek is my favorite part of the chapter (which is why I’m sharing it) but it requires a titch of background info. They’re in the hotel/building where you get the ID card in the game and Bendy is carrying an emotional support plush of himself. Yep.
Enjoy! 😘
“Alright Bendy, I’m going to need you to wait here for a bit while I explore the hotel’s upper floors, okay?”
It was not okay.
The demon immediately latched onto her leg, wrapping his arms and legs around the limb. He vigorously shook his head with a pleading gaze.
Heart panging, Audrey attempted to gently dislodge the little guy. “I’m sorry, but I need to find the ID card. I’ll be right back-”
His  eyes filled with tears and she worried that if he started crying she wouldn’t have the mental fortitude to leave him. Glancing around frantically for a distraction, she spied a Boris plush on the chair behind the reception desk.
She took a single step towards it and was unable to lift her other leg due to the distressed toon clinging to it.
Exasperated, she wondered how he managed to weigh her down now despite the ease with which she was able to carry him earlier.
“I’m not going yet,” she sighed, “just…please let me reach the desk.”
After a tense second, he mostly released her leg and she hobbled over to the counter. Turning the swivel chair around, she picked up the Boris plush. Crouching to Bendy’s level, she offered him the toy.
“Look!” she feigned excitement, speaking in an overly cheerful tone, “now mini-Bendy has a new friend! You three can play together while I’m gone. Does that seem fair?”
Hugging the Boris plush against the Bendy plush, he fixed her with a fearful and desperate expression. Audrey regretted giving him the doll as she found herself facing not one, not two, but three sets of cartoon eyes instilling her with a sense of neglect. Almost like they were accusing her of abandonment.
Skin prickling with shame, the animator glanced away and stood up. This time, Bendy allowed her to approach the hole in the ceiling without protest, although she could feel the burning weight of his gaze on her back.
As she stood underneath the gap, she hesitated. Her desires to explore and locate the ID card brawled with her worries and concern. A new fear was shoved to the forefront of her mind. What if a lost one wandered in while she was gone? If the toon needed her, he couldn’t call out to her for help.
As the Ink Demon, he could clearly handle himself, but as Bendy? She wasn’t so sure. Considering how he reacted to her previous fights, either he was unwilling or unable to change at the moment. Could she really justify leaving him alone, especially if he was vulnerable? It’s not like he could call out to her if he was in trouble…
Audrey had an idea.
Swiveling around, she strode back to the reception desk, easily locating the object she desired. She tested it out and it let out a satisfying ding.
Perfect.
Lifting a confused yet unresistant Bendy into the air, the animator placed him on the swivel chair.
“If you need me, ring this-” she pointed meaningfully at the call bell resting on the reception desk's dusty surface, “and I’ll come right back. Can you do that for me?”
The aura of fear plaguing the toon lessened. Still nervous, he nodded.
Relieved, the artist went to leave. She managed one step forward when the bell rang.
When she turned to face Bendy, he was watching her with an expression of deep longing.
Quenching the bit of annoyance that rose up within her, she forced a smile. “Wait to ring the bell until you can’t see me anymore, okay?”

random PikuNiku post bc why not?
alright, I’m bored, time to rant my thoughts on tumblr!!!
Okay so, during the whole robot boss fights (especially the pinecone one), what was Piku (the player, aka the red bean guy) thinking? Like, this lil beast guy woke up after like. A 100 year slumber to solve capitalism in this whole new place it doesn’t even remember or know about, and now it has to kick some explosive pinecones at this damn robot by this pink cloud lookin guy named Mr Shithead Sunshine.
Also, when it dies to the saw during the one boss I’m talkin about rn or gets exploded by a damn PINECONE, what in the world is going through this lil dude’s mind? Like, it’s failing to kick these pinecones, is suffering from a saw and failing to do it’s one job (aka kick the explosive pinecones)
Oh and don’t even get me started on the water bossfight, it’s probably hell for the lil dude.

The implications that Caleb was perfectly fine with Witch Hunts and killing people until he met Evelyn and learned better and was willing to change as a person is sooooooooo tasty
i love it when characters were bad people/did bad things but changed for the better <3

not to bother more people but like... ive said it before and i will say it again; there's nothing wrong with an evil hank. i do think he absolutely has dubious morals, dubious ideas, dubious motivations that could be exploited in ways to make him the worst possible version of himself. it's what makes him an interesting character–that there are so many ways he could be evil, so many events in his life that would be a villain origin story in any other characters' history, and yet he remains someone who tries to think about ethics, that makes his friends laugh, who is considerate and kind and likes to play music and quote shakespeare.
the thing isn't that hank is evil, it's the fact that hank is just unbelievably , cartoonishly evil. he's not a convincing character anymore, because every evil aspect of him is so greatly exaggerated he genuinely feels like a star wars villain more than anything else. wherever as before, while Hank was questionable, even at his worst moments you could always empathise with him or at the very least understand where he was coming from; he's clearly torn up while doing shit for the illuminati, or while he's working with dark beast in endangered species, or when he's teaming up with supervillians to cure the legacy virus or when he's faced with his consequences in all new x-men. even during ivx, when his reasons were bogus, you at the very least could understand where he was coming from from an ethical perspective even if it was fucking stupid.
And every time where Percy has had an opportunity to display an understanding of Hank or even like reference anything that might be consequential or interesting or impact him, he just doesn't. Like it does feel like there's zero consideration into how a character like Hank would actually evolve into an evil character, which Dark Beast did. Dark Beast was interesting because despite being a clearly and overtly evil person, he also had emotional draws even he hadn't managed to rid himself of; one of the most interesting comics with Dark Beast is X-Men Unlimited #10, where he's unable to kill Hank's parents after hearing about their genuine love for their son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not convinced if asked Percy would comfortably name who Hank's parents actually are. And it's unfortunate because it ends up feeling like Percy has a shockingly naïve idea of what evil people look like despite the actual content of his comics. That they're clearly and overtly insane, cruel, sadistic, literally making torture stations in space or killing their closest friends and are overall easy to hate and easy to dismiss as being nothing like yourself. And no, not every villain has to be a deep nuanced portrayal of corruption and how even those with the best intentions can become warped and lead astray, but Hank was once a nuanced character. He was interesting, once.
What made Hank so interesting again, was that he could have very easily been evil the moment he became blue and furry, but wasn't. He became an Avenger and when that didn't work, applied himself to the Defenders. He was kind. He made friends. He played the guitar and was deeply upset when he couldn't anymore when he became catlike. Like when he says in New X-Men #117, the reason he avoids violence is because he believes in other, better, bigger things.
Tumblr media
Again. I do think Hank can be morally questionable and dubious and do incredibly unethical things in the name of the greater good.... but he is also someone who loves his friends and that doesn't stop being a factor. Evil shouldn't be a supervillian who will literally shoot some of his closest friends in the back and use their bodies against their will and break a submarine in half condemning men with families and children to death, we don't need that. It doesn't serve any purpose than a cartoonishly caricatured antagonists for heroes to take down. What makes a morally dubious Hank interesting is the fact that people can still at least understand where he's coming from. Understand his thoughts and motivations and when done well even relate to them. That he could still be loving and caring and funny and kind and still do horrible things, because being evil doesn't miraculously remove your ability to make jokes.
It's just frustrating. Because I feel like the only thing the increasingly ridiculous feats of evilness do is just make it more and more likely that the next status quo will just reset Hank rather than deal with all that unless they just want full on Cassandra Nova deranged villain. And it's annoying because there are so much potential here but instead that's being ignored in favour of the shock factor and it's frustrating because I do enjoy the darker side of Krakoa–but there's no believability in making a bunch of clones to make up for your team, who will probably end up turning on themselves in like an issue for again, shock factor.
Anyway I'll get off my soap box but basically I think Hank would be more interesting as an actually morally grey character rather than all out evil, or at least an evil person you can understand and share motivations with. Instead he's literally just cartoon character villain with a little more blood and gore than usual.

making an outer wilds au that takes place sometime after the end of the game, can’t wait to inflict it on the world /hj
what i’ve got so far:
-everyone is human(oid. human-like? not sure, still have to iron it out)
-much of the main cast is in college; their field of study mirrors what they specialized in/talked most about in-game (ex.- hal = ancient languages, gabbro = quantum physics, riebeck = ancient cultures + architecture)
-they’re all part of a club called Wild Ventures
-Sunstone + Hal are the newest members
-Gabbro + Sunstone have hazy memories of a life they lived long ago, but don’t recall until one fateful meeting when Sunstone joins Wild Ventures as its’ newest member
-Solanum is there <3 she uses a text-to-speech device and has a walking stick; i considered giving her prosthetics but decided against it
-Gabbro is hard-of-hearing and wears hearing aids; they alternate between speaking and sign
-Gabbro writes poetry
-Gabbro and Solanum are both studying quantum physics
-ironically, Sunstone has a deep distaste for the sun
-like the game, there is like one (1) gendered person in the entire cast (it’s solanum)
. . . . . .
bonus sunstone

A powerful fixer in Night City, operating from the shadows and only known by their alias. Cold and ruthless, focused entirely on wreaking havoc in the existing mercenary world by planting seeds of distrust and paranoia, to pit everyone up against each other. While their interference is still minimal, the long-term consequences can be felt in every corner of the city.
Once a powerful Arasaka asset, the Broker has access to a tight network of assassins- a few highly skilled killers who serve as their security network, all ex-Arasaka as well. Through connections they also have an entire division of Militech in their pocket, and the NCPD tends to turn them a blind eye.
The Broker is a horrible fixer, presenting themself as "one of the good guys" and luring mercs in with eddies and empty promises. With their charismatic nature, they're able to use the backstabbing and corruption in Night City's underworld as a tool to manipulate mercs into thinking no one can be trusted and the entire network has to be destroyed for good, and they themself are the only person in the whole city they can trust; this way, their mercs end up developing a strange dependency on them, meaning they'll do anything they tell them to do without giving it a second thought.
Though once the Broker has lured the mercs in, they stop paying them well and give them little support while they do all their dirty work, uncaring about what happens to them and whether or not they'll make it out alive. The mercs are mere tools to the Broker to achieve their long-term goals, and they even take pride in killing those who dare to disagree with them- turning them into an example for others.
Some time after Vincent has been cured and is no longer actively dying, one of Vitali's cargo trucks is intercepted by a group of his old mercenaries- all people who felt betrayed and abandoned by him after his departure from Night City with Vincent about six months ago, when they left for Arizona in hopes to find a cure. The attack leaves Lauren, Eddie and Mikhail gravely injured and it can be traced back to the Broker; while it is still unclear what their deal with Vitali is, they now seem to be targeting him and his entire fixer network specifically.
