I'm still sorting out my mixed feelings re: Ahsoka, but I'll say it felt a little bit like a love letter to Anakin Skywalker (and to Hayden as Anakin) and for that I could never hate it.

Tumblr media
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
Jean is a king of aftercare. No matter what happens in the session, he’s so soft afterwards, helping you get cleaned up and then offering to get a drink or some food for you, or even just cuddles if that’s what you want.
B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
On himself, Jean likes his hands for a variety of different reasons. But especially because of how quickly he can get you squirming beneath him with just his fingers.
On you, he loves your boobs, no matter how small or big. Even in a non-sexual way, he loves laying his head on your chest to rest.
He has a habit of leaving a trail of marks across your chest, and gets off on the fact that only he can do that.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically)
His preferred place to cum is inside you. It’s such an intimate thing, which is why he prefers it.
Plus the sight of his cum dripping out of you as he gently presses against your abdomen is enough to get him ready for another round.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
It’s not too much of a secret, but he loves seeing you brought to tears as you struggle to take his cock.
“Look at you princess, crying over my cock.”
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
He’s not too experienced when it comes down to it, but he learns really fast! He’s very attentive, and can easily pick up on what makes you feel good and what doesn’t.
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual)
Missionary mostly, but Jean also loves cowgirl. He just likes positions where he can see your face, so he can see how much of a mess he’s making you, especially if you’re so fucked out that you’re on the verge of tears.
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
He’s fairly serious, but there are times where he won’t hesitate to crack a few jokes just to see you laugh before he starts pounding into you.
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc)
He’s well groomed, as in he trims down there but isn’t completely hairless.
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect...)
Sex with Jean is always intimate, he likes making you feel good.
He’s a giver, he just wants it to be all about you, and honestly wouldn’t mind spending hours in between your thighs if you let him.
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
Jean doesn’t tend to get himself off very often, why would he need to when he has you? But in times where the two of you can’t see each other, he’ll look to videos or pictures you’ve sent, imagining you’re there for him.
If you were to send videos where you’re touching yourself and begging for him, he swears he could cum right then and there.
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)
Size kink: Now this doesn’t necessarily mean his height only, but he does enjoy that too. No but this also counts for his cock and how he enjoys watching you struggle to take him fully.
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do)
Majority of the time he likes to keep it private, anywhere around the house he doesn’t mind. But sometimes, when he just can’t help it, he might just pull you aside and try something if you’re comfortable with it.
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Something that manages to turn him on without fail; seeing you wearing his clothes. There’s something about seeing you with one of his shirts that just awakens the possessive side of him, knowing no one else will get to feel that way about you.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Jean would never do anything that could really hurt you. He’s also not into anything involving bodily fluids except for cum.
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
As I said earlier, Jean is a giver, and he’s good at it too! He could spend hours between your legs, coaxing orgasm after orgasm if you would let him.
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and Sensual?)
He prefers things to slow and sensual, so he can really spend time focusing on you and your pleasure. But sometimes, especially if you two haven’t seen each other or done anything in awhile, things will be fast and rough.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions of quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc)
Jean likes quickies, but they don’t happen too often. And when they do, it’s typically him just making you fall apart on his fingers.
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc)
He’s up to taking risks, but again, he would never do anything that could hurt you.
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last)
Jean can last a few rounds, around 4 before tiring himself out! And he’s able to pull orgasm after orgasm from you before he finally chases his own release.
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
Before you two started dating, Jean didn’t own any toys. But after, he bought some just to use on you.
U = Unfair (How much they like to tease)
Overall, he’s a gentleman, he wants you to feel as good as you can. And bringing you as close to the edge as possible before pulling away, wanting to hear you beg for him before he finally gives you want you want, is all part of making you feel good.
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
He doesn’t care too much about being loud, and often groans or moans to let you know how you make him feel. He’s also constantly praising you, reminding you how good you are and how amazing you feel around him. He’s definitely got a praise kink.
W = Wild Card (A random headcanon)
While he’s definitely more on the dominant side, Jean is actually a switch — something he never willingly admits, but the blush spread across his face and the beautiful whines falling from his lips whenever you dom makes it obvious.
X = X-Ray (Lets see what’s going on in those pants)
Let’s just say the horse jokes definitely weren’t only about his face. About 7 inches, and on the thinner side.
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
Jean tends to have a pretty high sex drive when he’s not stressed out about something, he just wants to be feeling you up whenever he has the chance. But he would never pressure you into anything.
Z = ZZZ (How quickly do they fall asleep afterwards)
It takes him awhile to knock out after sex, his first priority is taking care of you after all. Jean also loves cuddling after sex, being able to hold you close and talk about whatever comes to mind until you fall asleep in his arms.

I've actually enjoyed watching new episodes of the show for the first time in a LONG time! I thought Lucas being frustrated w/ Elizabeth was contrived and misplaced. Was his mom like "me & your father are separated btw i told elizabeth before you?" The bit felt off. But hey, these past three episodes have been fun & much-better written than anything last season. How much of this season's improvement over recent prior ones do you think is due to the season having a new showrunner?
As to Lucas and Elizabeth, I feel this is an issue with shows in general of this runtime and episode length. I like to compare WCtH with Road to Avonlea because both shows had short seasons and 40ish minute long episodes, were family shows, and featured ensemble casts. Avonlea had a similar issue with pacing in the occasional episode. I know I like to nitpick WCtH a lot about its writing, and I never shy from honest critique, but I really do think the hiccup with Lucas and Elizabeth in Ep3 was just a product of needing a few more minutes of screentime—preferably the start of Helen telling Lucas about the situation with his father, since it did feel like him knowing everything came out of almost nowhere. We knew Helen would have to talk to him, but we never really saw her resolve to do so, and I think we earned the emotional payoff of the truth coming out. (As an aside, Helen should have apologized for telling Lucas that Elizabeth knew as well as putting her in a position where she had to keep a secret from someone she cared about. Elizabeth being put in a bad position was awful enough, but then she went and told Lucas that Elizabeth was aware the whole time? Yiiiikesssss...)
I’m pretty confident that Helen told Lucas something like: “I have to tell you something important... Your father...left me...a few weeks ago. I need to apologize for keeping it from you but I didn’t know how to bring it up...” and then probably responded to something Lucas said with a comment about how she’d talked to Elizabeth about it, or Elizabeth suggested she be honest about the situation because Lucas would find out eventually and it would be better if it came directly from her. I could definitely see Helen accidentally being too honest in a situation where she’s nervous about admitting the truth to her own son. She’s probably extremely embarrassed and ashamed, and the episode doesn’t really go into how Helen feels about it. They just jump into talk about love and how it needs to be nurtured and nobody ever asks Helen if she actually loved/loves her husband, let alone if he was a good man/husband to her.
Not getting a scene where Helen confesses the truth weakens the entire plotline. I’m hoping they’ll just keep improving on this specific aspect of the show, and consider getting rid of unnecessary scenes or entire unnecessary storylines in favor of stronger, more complete stories.
I know their hesitation is based on the idea that not everyone cares about (for example) Lucas, so focusing really hard on Lucas’s relationship with his mother might feel Bad, but the entire “chair” plotline with Rosemary and Lee was unnecessary, as were the longer Florence and Ned scenes. Don’t get me wrong—I enjoyed them! But if they cut those out, or mostly cut them, then there would have been enough screentime for a full scene showing Helen telling Lucas about the truth.
And Chris McNally is clearly an actor who can handle an emotional scene like that, so it would have turned out well, and been well-received by the fans...even the ones who aren’t rooting for Lucas. Because what people who watch this show want to see is...depth, I think. So many relationships feel tacked on or fake. I’ve seen improvement this season, but they could definitely do more to bolster the “community” feel of the show.
--
As to the quality of the season so far...
@trash-god and I were chatting earlier this week about how wild it is that we’re both, like, actively looking forward to the next episode regularly. Sure, it’s still pretty early in the season, but we’re 25% of the way through. If the writing stays this consistently decent I think we’ll have the best season in a long time on our hands!
It’s funny because if you lurk on the WCTH subreddit, you’ll see most of the fans there are bored of this season, but I disagree with them in a bit way; this season is DEFINITELY better-written and smoother. As to where to place the credit, I think it’s worth considering the last few seasons and what the writers/writing teams have struggled with.
Season 4: They knew something was going to happen with their lead man so they tried introducing other things and in many ways had success. There were some REALLY GOOD scenes in S4, but there were also scenes or arcs that had a lot of potential that just fell flat. For example, they had that plot where Frank and Abigail got annoyed with each other over the fact that he’s kind of still living (mentally) as a carefree bachelor, and even though it wasn’t as thorough as it should have been, it was a pretty good and realistic storyline. But then later in the season, they introduced Carson, and Frank is suspicious of him for almost no reason (or at least, no solid reason), and then actively is...like a BAD PERSON for NO REASON. Two completely different plots, one was good and felt natural, and the other was awful and cringey. We also have the AJ plotline in S4. It started out super good because it was one of those plots that was genuinely built up to over the course of several episodes. We find out the accountant that was going to testify has withdrawn their statement, then we find out they’ve disappeared and we have a name. Bill discusses it with Abigail and Frank both, multiple times. He thinks it’s a payoff and he’s determined to prove it so he starts poking around. Eventually he gets a lead and follows it, and it’s revealed that AJ is a woman. Bill is annoying. AJ is a liar. I think conceptually this is one of the more interesting plots they’ve cobbled together, but in execution it was lacking toward the end of the story. Bill spent two episodes fighting AJ’s attitude and in the end he just lets her go with a smile? That isn’t like Bill at all. There’s a scene or two missing to make that reaction make sense. They don’t interact enough to give us the idea that Bill *understands* her, let alone would be okay with her literally breaking out of his jail ON HIS WATCH.
Season 5: They had to write Jack out of the story and had to rush a wedding in to “appease” the fans. They also had to write Shane, Philip, Frank, and Dottie off the show in this season (Dottie because the actress deals with a chronic illness and can no longer do acting work—I want to say she has Lyme’s). So they cobble this like, awkward storyline to write Frank out that doesn’t really make a lot of sense. They put this dramatic story together for Philip (when him just moving away would have been better/more interesting), and they try to bring AJ back for another 2-part episode, which sounded fun until we actually had to watch the episodes. It was at this point that I thought, “The people writing this show...think they’re writing a movie script.” It’s not that I think AJ isn’t pushy or emotionally blunt, but it definitely came across in those episodes that they wrote her that way specifically because the plot wouldn’t work out if she wasn’t. She does unreasonable things. For some reason Bill still has feelings even though she’s done nothing to earn them. (And vice-versa; he’s just so mean to her...why would she be interested?) Everyone was like :O when the AJ episodes weren’t very well-received. But like, I didn’t want AJ to come back for a huge dramatic rattlesnake bite scene. I wanted her back to see her emotional struggle with facing prison. I wanted to really see where they’d go with her seeing Henry Gowen. She says she wants to start over in Hope Valley after prison, but like...WHY? The only people who are nice to her are Dottie and Abigail! And then after this super dramatic poorly written set of scenes that pretty much ensured AJ would never be seen on the show again (because her presence was actively mocked by a lot of fans) they actually kill off Jack and try to have a deeply emotional and thoughtful episode.
The worst part is that...the post-death episode was good. The actors were great. Then you look back at the dramatic rattlesnake stuff and you’re just like, “What went wrong here?”
Season 6: They decided they were going to introduce a love triangle, so they start doing that, but then Abigail’s character AS WELL AS CODY’S CHARACTER has to be cut from the show, so they edit those out. I still think doing this was the right thing—Abigail as a character was literally UNBEARABLE throughout most of S5—but I also can’t deny that it probably brought the cohesiveness and overall quality of the season down by a bit, particularly with Abigail acting as a buffer between Nathan/Lucas and Elizabeth. I have no way of knowing if they edited other characters into those roles (it’s possible Bill became a buffer between Nathan and Elizabeth, for example), but the editing still gave us some scenes that just didn’t...quite work, like the one where Elizabeth comforts Henry, or when Lee becomes Bill’s confidant regarding the position of judge being offered to him.
Season 7: In their attempt to make Lucas seem “mysterious” they accidentally made him come off almost creepy. More than once. They had some good ideas in this season, but the writing felt a bit choppy and isolated from episode to episode. Of course Nathan’s father was innocent. Of course it was resolved in five minutes. You could see they were trying REALLY hard for cohesiveness at certain points (Elizabeth tried talking to Henry about his attitude; Jesse mentioned Frank; Dottie was mentioned), but each episode felt very isolated from the others, almost as if most of them were written completely separately from the rest.
And you’ll notice in S4, 5, and 6, we kind of have a similar problem, where some plots feel like they were written or inserted into the story independent of the other plotlines. Frank breaking into Carson’s room at the saloon to snoop through his stuff was one of the worst things in the season (literally cringey—and not in that “character is doing something in character that is hard to watch” way, but rather, “this character would literally never do that” way). The AJ storyline in S5 felt like the person who wrote it watched AJ & Bill’s interactions in S4 and absorbed ONLY the fact that they bickered a bit (and then didn’t know how to write that dynamic in a pleasing way). Writing Abigail out of the show was for the best, but it forced cracks in the plotlines that weren’t necessarily filled, as well as gave us interactions that didn’t feel quite right.
And I think S7 was trying to get on the right track, but wrote episodes in a very disjointed, haphazard kind of manner. There were good things about it, yes, but there were also some very...bad things.
And overall the problem almost universally was that it felt like some of the episodes/interactions were written as if they were part of a movie, as part of a one time deal, instead of something that would need to be carried forward. If you go back and look over some plotlines you can start to see where the writers...didn’t know how to write fanfiction. S5 AJ is not the same character as S4 AJ. She doesn’t feel the same. She’s not written with S4 AJ in mind. She’s not a natural version of the character that exists a year later in the storyline...and then she was given a storyline that they had to force the character to fit, instead of tailoring a storyline to match the character. And they continued this trend...over...and over...and over...and over.
And now, finally, it feels that they may actually have a head writer who knows how to write television, who knows that in order to write a successful television series, you have to go back and watch the early episodes. You have to see how the characters have evolved. You have to consider how they’ve gotten to where they are, and where they will LOGICALLY go from here based on things that happen to or around them.
I don’t want to state this as Fact too early, but I definitely think it’s a factor. We’ll see how the rest of the season plays out, but I hope the quality continues to be as good as it is.

Serpent & Dove
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Bound as one, to love, honor, or burn. Book one of a stunning fantasy duology, this tale of witchcraft and forbidden love is perfect for fans of Kendare Blake and Sara Holland.
Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned.
As a huntsman of the Church, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. But when Lou pulls a wicked stunt, the two are forced into an impossible situation—marriage.
Lou, unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, must make a choice. And love makes fools of us all.
Set in a world of powerful women, dark magic, and off-the-charts romance, book one of this stunning fantasy duology will leave readers burning for more.
Title: Serpent & Dove Series: Serpent & Dove Author: Shelby Mahurin ISBN: 0062878034 (ISBN13: 9780062878038) Pages:  560  pages (Paperback) Published: August 4th 2020 by HarperTeen (first published September 3rd 2019) Characters: Reid Florin Diggory, Louise Margaux Larue Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance, Magic, Paranormal
I feel like I can’t even begin to describe just how pleasantly surprised I was by this novel. I am not a big fan of romance-heavy stories and one of my least favorite tropes of all time is hate-to-love relationships—so basically the two things the entire plot hinges on. Needless to say, I went into this very hesitantly. Very intrigued to learn how Lou and Reid end up in the position they do and to experience this story everyone has been raving about, but also keeping my expectations as low as I could. I did not for a second expect to come out of it knowing it will, without a doubt, be on my list of favorite books of the year. This is one of those books that I believe truly lives up to all the hype surrounding it.
Serpent & Dove is a dual perspective narrative following Lou le Blanc, a witch, and Reid Diggory, a Chasseur, or witch-hunter. Lou has escaped from her coven and has taken refuge in the city of Cesarine. She lives in hiding. giving up magic and surviving as a thief.  In Cesarine, witches are seen as a danger to all of society—they are hunted and burned, and no woman is above suspicion.
Reid is sworn to the church and charged with the hunting and capture of witches, sworn into a role that demands he will not let a single witch live. In a surprising turn of events, Lou’s and Reid’s paths cross in a way neither of them could have ever expected. A way that leads to their marriage, that forms a seemingly impossible love, and that brings Lou under the roof of the people who could be her source of protection—or her death.
The writing in this book is absolutely superb and cements Shelby Mahurin on my list of favorite authors. Her writing is gorgeous and so easy to fall into. It is incredibly clear how meticulously she formed every aspect of this novel. Both the plot and the setting are incredibly intriguing and captivating. I loved the French influences in all aspects of the story—it makes for a very vivid and enticing atmosphere and Cesarine is the perfect backdrop for everything that takes place. She also does a wonderful job with the dual perspective narrative and creates two very individual voices for our two main characters.
Even though the romance is the main focus of the story, the fantasy aspect is very strong as well and is of almost equal importance. The fantastical elements, though more of a side plot for now, don’t really take a backseat in terms of detail or how significant they are to the overall story. Mahurin crafts an interesting and intricate magic system as strongly as she crafts the romance. It’s something I’m particularly looking forward to seeing in more detail in the next book.
The only minor issue I had plot-wise was the event that sends Lou and Reid down the path toward their marriage. Though my opinion shifted by the end of the novel, as I was able to see every event throughout in a different light, the scene still felt a little bit clumsy and heavy-handed and also completely random, maybe a little too much so. It wasn’t at all what I would have expected and was a bit of a letdown for me, so I sort of wish it had been done differently. But overall, this barely affected my enjoyment of the story as a whole.
This novel holds one of the most brilliant and beautiful casts of characters I’ve ever come across. Lou is everything. She is one of my new favorite characters of all time—I fell completely and utterly in love with her right from the very start of the novel. She is so strong despite the pain she has been through and the terror and uncertainty of her life now. Lou is sassy and sarcastic and absolutely hilarious. She’s tough and guarded much of the time, but underneath, she is so intensely loving, caring, and loyal—just an absolutely beautiful person. I connected with her so easily, and it was an absolute joy reading from her perspective and following her journey.
It took me a while to warm up to Reid, but I definitely had by the end of the novel. He’s quite set in his ways and his prejudices against women, always acting in a very traditional way toward Lou. They are living in a time when women are little more than the property of their husbands and this is something that is clearly ingrained in Reid. He is protective of her and chivalrous to a fault, but it takes a while from him to sound anywhere near loving, even after it’s clear he has feelings for her. At first, I struggled a bit reading his chapters because his attitude and initial inability to be open-minded frustrated me so much. However, there is one major reason I noticed that I think prevented me from connecting with him sooner.
Yes, he is very close-minded in many of his beliefs and his actions, but I felt that there were a few times where things sort of got lost in translation in a sense. There would be scenes from his point of view where his actions and words felt a bit confusing to me and I took them as negative. But later on, something would cause me to realize what exactly he meant by what he said or did and that it wasn’t in fact negative. I don’t think I explained that particularly well, but basically, I think there were times where his point of view could have been written more clearly. In the end, though, I did end up really liking him and it does become very obvious how much he truly cares and would do anything for Lou.
I ended up absolutely adoring the relationship between Lou and Reid. It unfolds and transforms in such a natural way. As I said before, hate-to-love is one of my least favorite tropes, but it is done so well here that I didn’t really mind it. It’s still not something I enjoy reading about and that obviously does impact my rating of the novel slightly. However, few people can get me to like a novel that features this type of relationship, and Mahurin definitely nailed it. My problem with the trope tends to stem from the tension being completely nonsensical and feeling like it’s just thrown in to create drama, and you will not find that in this book.
The tensions between Lou and Reid feel so realistic and necessary—they have every reason to be wary of each other. Understandably, that they sometimes overlook what they truly know about the other as a person in favor of ideas and prejudices that were hammered into them from a young age. They are both strong characters that are unapologetically themselves and, while it causes them to butt heads at first, it turns into a mutual respect for each other and, of course, love as well. The issues that create conflict, in the beginning, are what come to be the things that pull them together rather than drive them apart. And the sum of both of them individually—the strengths and the flaws—is what brings them each to love the other wholly.
There are also some stellar side characters in this story. Coco was, by far, my favorite—she is totally someone I’d love to be friends with. The friendship between her and Lou is so lovely and I’d gladly spend hours just reading about them. They have such a fun dynamic and they always have each other’s backs no matter what. They are the definition of found family and their story warmed my heart. Ansel, a bit like Reid, took me a while to start really liking, but he turns out to be an absolutely wonderful person and a great addition to that lovable found family.
Now for one of the most surprising things I’ve probably ever said and also one of the biggest contradictions when it comes to my typical taste in stories. As I’ve already said, I’m generally not a fan of books that heavily focus on romance. However, this book was so well written that one of my absolute favorite scenes in the entire story was the scene where Lou and Reid make love for the first time, as well as the truly heartwarming lead-up to it.
I am beyond picky about how sex scenes are written in novels. So many fall into the trap of using overly descriptive and flowery prose and a lot of just plain weird words for everything. While I think that being extremely blunt and cold about it is not a good direction to go in either, the flowery descriptions and oversharing of details tend to make these scenes feel very awkward and unrealistic.
The sex scene in this book does not fall into either of these traps and I absolutely adored it. It just feels so realistic and natural, and that is exactly what I frequently find is missing from these types of scenes. Mahurin continues to write as beautifully as ever but is, I felt, fairly minimal on the exact details of the scene. And this is exactly why it works so well.
While yes, there is still detail, she relies more often on the reader’s knowledge of what takes place during a sexual encounter, which cuts out the need for the overly flowery prose and questionable word choices. In a number of places, she writes it in a “fade to black” way without actually fading to black. Mahurin has created a perfect example of how a sex scene should be written and how it should feel to the reader. The focus is on the passion and love between Lou and Reid—on not just physical feeling, but emotional and mental as well. It is so beautiful and natural and is, by far, one of the best-executed scenes I’ve ever come across.
Suffice it to say, I really enjoyed this book. It is so beautifully written and captivating—it is very easy to fall into and get lost in. Shelby Mahurin has created a magical and emotional tale, both heartbreaking and heartwarming that, at its core, brilliantly demonstrates the power of love of all kinds. The story and especially the characters will definitely stick with me for a long time. I’ve honestly been thinking about it constantly since I finished it a few months ago. And, of course, I am absolutely dying to get my hands on the next book in this series. I love how this ended and I cannot wait to be back with these characters once again and see their story continue.

Can I get Giorno w/ fem s/o who has a daddy issues and it’s similar to his. (Trying not to be too vague/too specific but of course It’s a comfort request)
Giorno with a Fem!S/O who has Daddy Issues
Giorno never met his biological father and the only fatherly figure he had were quite abusive him. Even after that mafioso demanded his step father cease his physical abuse, emotional and verbal abuse was still free game. It was like psychological warfare and Giorno pondered from time to time, wondering what life would be like if his biological father was alive.
He moved into the dormitory to get away from his family. It was a nice change of pace but after first, Giorno struggled to adjust. It was hard to understand the concept of bills, groceries, financial stability. Which is why he resorted to stealing from others and often took risky bribes. Shortly after he joined Passione, he met you... you were also a risk taker.
But in different ways. Before joining, you had tended to find yourself in dangerous situation with older men. It was difficult for you to trust anyone, especially men. When Bruno and Giorno attempted to recruit you, you were skeptical of the life they promised. But Giorno understood your situation, knowing the lack of relationship with your own father.
The blonde hair boy understood what it meant to take risks. Him attempting to overthrow the the don was a huge risk. And he understood some people didn’t quite like taking the risk of possibly changing their life for the worse. But he knew this was not a way of living for you. Just like how stealing money, trinkets, and cars was not a way of living for him.
“Y/N, do you really want to risk your life for men who are taking advantage of your insecurities and only see you as a play thing?” those words may have seemed harsh. They had hit you. Before Bruno could speak up about not probing any deeper, Giorno continued. “Or would you rather find... stability? A place you can call home?”
You don’t if was because, yes, you so desperately wanted a secure place or if Giorno had just managed to convince you by his sincerity... but you agreed. It was difficulty adjusted to a gang of primarily men. While they were definitely kinder and gave you the respect you deserved, a cloud would loom over your mind as you grew closer. Abandonment.
You were especially close with Giorno. He had promised you a better life, after all, and his oath stood true. The blonde hair boy also enjoyed your presence. Daddy issues aside, you did have a glowing aura, a kind persona, and overall, you were good-natured. But he had a feeling, that you had been taken advantage of multiple times...
Those had dimmed down the positive aspects of your individuality. Giorno had been the same and he could easily read your face. Eventually, the two of you opened up. The two of you found a similarity, that being the lack of a father figure. While it was nice to find a connection, that made you compare yourself to Giorno, who had his shit together.
He didn’t carry his emotional baggage like you. Insecurities never seemed to be an issue with him. And while some of his ideas were bizarre, they always somehow worked out. Giorno was way out of your league and eventually, he would leave you too. Just like all of your past lovers, like your father. The mere thought of being abandoned made you cry one night.
And Giorno came to your room, as if prompted. He had comfort you, holding you and trying to coax whatever was troubling your mind. It was hard to express yourself. What if he thought you were stupid? What if he didn’t like you like that? What if he laughed at your face and left? What if, what if, what if— Giorno had to assure you multiple times that he would not judge.
Eventually, you spilled your heart out to him. How you liked everyone, how you especially liked him (maybe even love?) But you were afraid of not being good enough. You feared this was all so fleeting and that it would come crashing down. You never had felt this stable and secured in your life and that made you even more worry about losing your family—
“But I’m really afraid about losing you,” you admitted weakly. You waited for the moment you dreaded but instead, felt slender arms wrap around your body. Sure, Giorno had learned and grown from his trauma... and eventually, you would too and realize your worth. But until then, he would constantly reassure you, for years, for eternity.
So, he made another promise and kiss you on the crown of your head with sincerity. “I won’t leave you, cara. You are still recovering... still growing. But I’ll continue to provide you with sunlight. I’ll water you. I don’t care how long it takes for you to bloom. But I’ll be here to watch you become a flower. Sarai il mio fiore preferito. Mio fiore, ti farò un bel giardino.”

NSFW Alphabet: Orson Krennic
This was requested by anon! :)
Tumblr media
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
Orson is very committed to aftercare, especially after a particularly rough session. He offers your praise and kisses for being able to take him so well. He helps you get cleaned up before settling in. Sometimes he even runs a warm bath for the two of you to share (which often leads to more fooling around.)
He’s a pretty big fan of pillow talk as well and often the two of you will stay up late just quietly talking about things that seem to silly or personal to see the light of day.
B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
Truly, he doesn’t have a favorite part of himself. He tends to be pleased with himself overall.
There’s a tie over what his favorite part of you is. The tie being between your legs and your eyes. He loves the way your legs feel when they’re wrapped around his waist when he fucks you. However, he is equally pleased with the way your eyes get all round expressing your neediness when you look up at him with his cock in your mouth.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person)
There is no method or location of cumming this man doesn’t like. He wants that release, and it’s not of much importance to him where it lands or how he gets there. He’s particularly fond of cumming on your chest, or even your face if he’s feeling particularly naughty. Marking up your body with his seed is very much so a turn on for him.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
After watching the destruction of Jedha City he got so turned on he had to excuse himself to the bathroom to jack off.
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
He’s surprisingly well experienced, if not slightly out of practice. Over the years his work became his sole interest, and so sex kind of took a backseat until he met you. So, he does know what he’s doing. It just takes him a bit to get in the swing of things again.
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual)
His favorite position is you on your back with your legs push against your chest so he can thrust deeply inside of you.
https://pixxxels.cc/9rYYVZ6f
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
He tends to be quite serious in the moment, although he can see the humor in a situation when it presents itself.
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
Orson’s body hair is still dark, in contrast to the silver strands on his head. He keeps himself immaculately groomed, even when he’s not particularly sexually active.
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)
Intimacy is something he struggles with, but he tries very hard. He wants to be able to show you how much he cares and enjoys being with you. Honestly the fact that he does actually put in the effort on his own accord only adds to the romance. Words of praise fall from his lips, he leaves kisses trailing your skin, and his hands soak you in.
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
Unless the need is extreme, he doesn’t typically jack off very often. He would much prefer to get off with you.
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)
There’s some light bondage, blindfolding, spanking, and orgasm denial. He develops a bit of a breeding kink when your relationship reaches that level. Perhaps the biggest kink is submission and dominance, of which he likes to switch up his role. In general he prefers to be the dominant one. You’re a perfect sub, so eager to please him. He loves being in control of your pleasure and having you in the palm of his hand. However, after a particularly rough day he enjoys being able to fall at your feet and give himself over to you.
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do)
His favorite place is his quarters, naturally. He can have you in whatever way he wants without having to worry about interruptions.
However, he also enjoys fucking you in his office. There is an excitement about knowing someone could walk in at any moment to see you bent over his desk while he fucks you mercilessly.
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
He gets turned on easily, although he tries to pretend otherwise. His biggest turn on is when you run your fingers through his silver hair, and your nails scratch against his scalp. Which you do quite often, sometimes not even meaning to illicit such a response.
There’s also this thing you do (which he’s certain you do on purpose) where you get this innocent look on your face before tilting your head to the side, and in whatever context you call him “Sir.” This fucks him up completely. He is ready to fuck you wherever the two of you happen to be as soon as you call him that.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
He would not share you with anyone. That’s a definite no. He doesn’t like to be degraded either.
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
He prefers receiving, especially when you're knelt down beneath his desk while he works. However, he is eager to reciprocate. He is quite skilled with that mouth of his, and takes pride in how quickly you become a moaning mess under his skillful tongue.
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
Orson is rather versatile in this respect. It really just depends on his mood. Sometimes he wants to take his time with sensual thrusts, but other times he just wants to make you cry out his name.
The only time the pace is definite is in the mornings. He likes to take things slow, to really build the pleasure while dispelling the morning grogginess.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
He loves quickies. Not as much as proper sex, of course. But he is always ready for a quickie. At least once a week you find yourself either in his office or in a closet engaging in a quickie. Most often it’s after a tense situation, especially one which might have made him feel emasculated.
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
He loves to experiment, and is down to try just about anything you’re interested in. Risks are enjoyable as long as it won’t actually do any harm to you.
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)
He’s can last as long as he wants, but typically can only go for couple rounds unless there’s a good bit of space between rounds.
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
A vibrator, handcuffs, a blindfold, and nipple clamps. All of which he uses on you, but he’s not keen on having them used on him too much. Except for that one time you used the vibrator on his balls, he’s too embarrassed to ask you to do it again though.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Oh boy, he is a tease. He loves teasing you. You get so flustered and your cheeks turn red. There’s also this desperate little almost whimper you do that drives him wild. He likes to toy with you until you’re begging him to fuck you. Even then he’ll take his time, rubbing the tip of his cock along your entrance before pushing inside at an achingly slow pace so you feel each inch of him enter.
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
He is rather vocal during sex. Moans are sprinkled in between words of praise and adoration, as well as expletives. You can always tell when he’s about to cum because he will suddenly get quiet as he attempts to focus, only to let out a soft, breathy moan when he reaches his climax.
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)
He wanted to fuck you the first time ever laid eyes on you. You walked into the mess hall with your fellow officers, and he immediately wondered what your plump lips would feel like around his cock. It was the first time in a long time he’d felt such unrestrained desire for someone, and he got off to the image before he’d ever even spoken to you.
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)
He’s a bit larger than average, and is uncircumcised.
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
He has a relatively high sex drive, and finds himself yearning for you quite often. It’s a bit of a weakness really.
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Orson doesn’t tend to fall asleep very quickly afterwards, preferring to stay up and bask in the warmth of your company for a while. He likes to talk to you in the privacy of your bed, it feels as though nothing else in the world exists in these moments. He likes to soak them up while he can.

Hi there, can you please do a Rebekah smutty abc’s??
Rebekah Mikaelson Smutty ABCs
Tumblr media
A  = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
Both dependent on her mood and who she slept with, Rebekah with either stand up and get dressed and leave, or stay, fall asleep with you and then make breakfast in the morning. If it’s just a one-night stand, she’ll leave. If she truly cares about you and she’s in a meaningful relationship with you, it’ll be the latter.
B = Body Part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
Rebekah’s favorite body part on herself is probably her chest. She knows how to dress to flaunt it and even if she’s not dressed to flaunt, she can flaunt it anyway. On her partner, she doesn’t really have a favorite. She loves everything on them. Their hair, their smile, their soft skin, their lips. Rebekah has struggled for love for a really long time so to have someone to hold close is really important to her, so she treasures everything about them.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person)
Rebekah loves making her partners come. If it’s a female, she’ll eat them out for hours until they orgasm again and again. If it’s a male, she’ll do the same. Since vampires can’t procreate, she prefers her partner without a condom, so coming inside/on her is definitely a thing.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Probably has a knife kink. Likes cutting her partners and then drinking the blood from the wound. Oops.
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
As an Original Vampire and a beautiful woman, it’s obvious that Rebekah has been around. She enjoys having sex and in return, she makes sure that her partners enjoy it as well. Rebekah definitely knows what she’s doing and she’s willing to teach her partners a thing or two.
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual)
She loves being on top. Like come on.
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
No. Rebekah is pretty passionate when it comes to sex. She’s not a particularly goofy person overall, especially when it comes to sex. She’ll lighten up if her partner is nervous, but she doesn’t become goofy and it’s part of her charm.
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
Rebekah keeps herself trimmed just so she can wear a bikini without embarrassment and she does daily self-care down there and yes, the carpet does match the drapes. ;)
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)
Rebekah is incredibly intimate, even with people she’s having a one-night stand with. She will touch every inch and then touch it again. She will love you to death and give you the best night of your life and then make you beg for it again the next day.
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
Likely does so when she doesn’t want to have sex with someone else. Just to burn off steam or relieve some tension. That sort of thing. But sex is preferable.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
Knife kink, blood kink, feeding kink.
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do)
Literally everywhere? Up against the wall. Check. In a bathroom? Check
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Her partner being moderately exposed, wearing anything cute or attractive. Consider her down and dirty.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Rape. Y know it’s gross. Also actually hurting her partner.
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
She doesn’t really have a preference in giving or receiving. She loves both. 69ing is a hundred percent a thing and she’s definitely skilled.
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
She tends to change up her pace depending on what her partner likes or what she’s feeling in the moment. If she’s feeling very intimate or vulnerable, she’s go slow and sensual. If she’s not, it’ll likely be fast and rough but she’ll def make it enjoyable.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
Uh, she is a quickie queen ok. Give her Quickies all the time every day, all day. Like yes??
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
As long as her partner is okay with it, she is definitely game to experiment, but she does have limits (like actually hurting her partner or rape). Other than the really off-limit stuff, she would be willing to try anything and take any risks they wanted her to.
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)
I mean, she is an Original vampire so she can several times for several hours. Expect to be occupied for at least a day. You can make her last several days with edging/denial. ;)
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?
Rebekah definitely has a few vibrators and likely a dildo for masturbating (see masturbation headcanon), but she’s soooo down to use them on a partner, especially if they’re into it.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Rebekah is a hella tease. She will tease you verbally, physically, etc but she will definitely make up for it. Like, she loves to talk a little dirty, show a little cleavage, tease you under the dinner table when she shouldn’t, that sort of thing, but when she finally gets you alone, she will literally give you orgasm after orgasm and not let you leave until you’re pleased.
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)
Rebekah rly rly rly wants to use her toys on a partner, whether it’s during sex or foreplay or otherwise. It’s something she’s hella into and would really like to do.
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
Again, as an Original Vampire, this tends to be higher than an average human and since she doesn’t really do anything to burn it off (no, murder doesn’t count), it doesn’t have an outlet. So uh, yeah, high. Expect to get sexed up a lot.
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterward)
This would really depend on who she’s with. If she was just with a one-night-stand, she wouldn’t fall asleep at all. She’d dress and leave or kick them out (and then sleep or take a shower and then sleep). If she was with an intimate partner, she’d likely cuddle with them, engage in some pillow-talk (she loves it!!!) and then go to sleep. She’s not one to immediately fall asleep.

Oscar’s Arc in Volume 6
Tumblr media
Volume 6 is definitely a volume that I hold higher than the previous two volumes. The writing seems to have been given more thought, was tighter with less flaws, and the overall characters were slimmed down to allow more time to develop their arcs throughout the thirteen episodes. Is there still flaws to this volume? Of course, there is no piece of media that is completely flawless, but I will be talking about one particular fault that I, and many other people, have noticed.
Oscar Pine’s arc.
Oscar has a very interesting premise to his character with his relationship towards Ozpin, the soul of a thousands of years old man who had reincarnated into Oscar in Volume 4, pushing him to leave his quiet life behind for the greater good as Ozpin could not stay out of this war between him and Salem. The idea of an innocent person having to deal with not only having been shoved into a far that he had no idea of before and with no skills like everyone around him, as well as being the focal point of everyone’s attention not for himself, but because of the man inside his head, could’ve given Oscar a very detailed and dynamic growth in this volume with Ozpin’s revelations.
But it didn’t. Why?
Changing Fears & Motivations
Tumblr media
The first problem is that his character arc is very haphazard through the entire volume. It was so confusing at first that after Jinn’s revelation about Ozpin’s secrets, I thought Oscar’s quote: “I’m just going to end up another one of his lives, aren’t I?” was in relation to everyone remembering him more as Ozpin than Oscar when he passes on and Ozpin reincarnates into someone else, leaving what was left of Oscar to join the culmination of their memories with the countless other lives before him. But the episode where he returns after disappearing seems to paint his fears in a different light.
Instead, Oscar seems to have the idea that soon enough, Ozpin’s personality will override his own and that Ozpin will live on using his body. Not only is this blatantly untrue, it shows him and everyone in the cast, and by extension the writers themselves, as people who’ve ignored what the God of Light and Jinn told them and Ozma. His reincarnation doesn’t work that way, it is specifically stated that Ozma had learned to live alongside with his host so that he is never alone in his quest.
The only time he forcibly overrode someone completely was his first reincarnation into Ozma 2.0, but even then we see that deep underneath, the man he reincarnated into could talk to him and had enough grasp on the world around him that he knew what was going on. While that does raise an awkward implication of how the man who owned the body before Ozma came about thought about his relationship to Salem, a woman he never even met before, it’s something that we’re not discussing today.
Even with Ozpin’s ability to take over Oscar’s body when they’re in immense danger, like the battle with Hazel, Oscar is shown to have the same ability to not only take his body back from Ozpin’s control, but to forcibly look into Ozpin’s memories and thoughts to find out Jinn’s name to tell to Ruby. Having his arc turn into him deciding that he’s going to use what little time he has left to help is meant to be uplifting and showing Oscar coming into his own when before he was just a lost boy thrown into the mess, but it’s just distracting because the writers have forgotten that the reincarnation aspect of their story does not work that way.
His Treatment by Others & The Resolution of This Plot Point
Tumblr media
This has to be a point that’s said but I don’t hate that the plot point of the group turning on Oscar at that moment simply because in the context it makes sense. Ozpin is not there, and for all the time the group has known Oscar, they’ve known him as the boy who’s directly connected to Ozpin rather than just Oscar. They can’t get at the man who they’re angry at, so they’ll rage against the carrier out of fear, frustration and grief for the people that they’ve lost in this fight against Salem.
It’s a great show of dehumanization done by the protagonists. They didn’t see Oscar as his own person, rather just a physical body that Ozpin occupies, and it’s completely summed up by Jaune when the group reunite in Argus.
Jaune: How do we even know it's really him?! What if we have been talking to that liar this whole time?!
I thought this plot would go on to them learning that Oscar is his own person, and for a while the show was putting my point up to be right, with Ruby quickly comforting Oscar and validating his worth as his own person even when no one else did. But that quickly fell apart when they reached Argus.
Oscar is then left to suffer the brunt of Jaune’s grief and distrust of Ozpin, and while the group timidly try to defend him before Ruby jumps in, no one steps in after Jaune leaves to make sure Oscar was okay. If they did, it happened off screen, and because of that it can’t count because the audience didn’t see this. All we have seen is Oscar be shouted at, assaulted, and had not only his sincerity questioned, but also his very humanity, something that he had been struggling with since his introduction into the show. And all of this culminates in Oscar running away.
I don’t hate the plot point of him running away either, because it was a realistic consequence for the group to realise that they had been taking it out on the wrong person, and while they’ve all been trapped in their own problems, no one had bothered to make sure Oscar at least felt wanted. However, his arc continues to deteriorate when the main problem of the story line happens.
Oscar has no moment of reflection. He has no time to be rightfully angry or scared or to have a chance to talk to someone about how he’s feeling. Instead that time is spent with Jaune’s resolution over his grief with Pyrrha’s death and Ruby being angry that they found Qrow lying on the stairs drunk. I do not want the Pyrrha statue scene to be removed, because it was needed to conclude not only Jaune finally being able to move from her death, but to reaffirm that his teammates love him and that they all have to band together despite this loss.
When Oscar does return, the group welcome him back with open arms but the only person to apologise for Oscar’s treatment was Jaune. It’s good for him to accept responsibility for his actions, but Jaune was not the only one to hurt Oscar, Qrow was just as much of a perpetrator and even after he starts to recover from his downfall in this volume, we never see him apologise to Oscar for his physical assault and then dismissal of Oscar’s humanity and identity.
The ending feels like it was unearned and paints Oscar as someone who’s willing to brush off how the protagonists have unfairly treated him because of an off screen epiphany. Ignoring his weird speech about his merge with Ozma, this just has very unfortunate implications in the writing around this scene and entire plot line. It loses all consequences that was set up last episode with the group realizing just how bad their actions has affected their situation, because now they had to deal with the guilt of pushing Oscar away and for losing both him and Ozpin.
How Can This Be Fixed?
Tumblr media
While I despise posts that claim to fix points due to the fact that what may work for some people might not for others, I’ll just say what I think would make the flaws far less egregious.
Simply give Oscar the screen time to show us how he handled his treatment between him running away and him returning with a new resolve. It could be something as simple as Ozpin returning earlier due to sensing something wrong with Oscar, and have him finally unload all the baggage that he had been left to deal with alone. Give Oscar the chance to actually talk about how everything was affecting him similar to Volume 5, where he confessed to Ruby that he was scared and didn’t understand the point of all the fighting.
Have him reconnect with Ozpin so that him defending the man from the group in the trip to Atlas had more weight. Afterwards, we can then have Oscar regain the resolve he had to do the right thing and change into his new outfit to represent that change rather than gloss over it. At the end, keep Jaune’s apology and have the group remorseful that they were so caught up in the problem with Salem that they were taking out their frustrations on him, including Qrow.
Another idea I’d like to throw out isn’t necessarily a fix-it idea, more just a fascination on what the story line could’ve taken on instead of canon. A few people had thrown the idea around after the episode where Oscar ran away that Cinder and Neo would kidnap him, and I’d have really enjoyed that plot point in my honest opinion.
Not only would it be a more drastic consequence to the protagonists’ actions, as it was their behaviour that pushed Oscar to run away in the first place, but it adds more moral complexity to their situation now. Their mission of getting the relic to Atlas still stands, and with the effect of the lamp attracting Grimm meaning that the city of Argus is in danger the longer they remain there, the team are torn between protecting the people and getting the lamp out of Argus as fast as possible, or putting that mission on hold so that they can rescue Oscar and not let Ozpin be taken back to his abuser.
It’d put more importance on Cinder and Neo also, given that outside of them teaming up and getting to Atlas, they had very little importance in this volume. Cinder kidnapping Oscar to either take him back to Salem to get back in her good books by giving her Ozpin, or holding him as ransom to get the lamp which is what Salem wants also, would be a better goal for them than their canon one of just killing Ruby. I’m not convinced that Cinder thinks that just because she wasn’t the one to “actually” kill Ruby, that Salem would let it slide on a technicality after making it a big deal that Ruby was brought to her alive.
Cinder was arrogant, but she wan’t stupid.
That’s the end of my thoughts regarding Oscar’s arc, and I’m sorry that this one seems overly negative and critical compared to my more neutral posts in the past, but it’s incredibly difficult not to see the flaws in this work when they’re so blatant and annoying. It’s made even worse with my deep love of Oscar and what can be done with his character to make it interesting and full of depth.
Either way, thanks for reading guys!

peter parker college!au
part 4 ; biology tutor
Tumblr media
summary: you’ve somehow landed a study date with none other than peter parker. you just hope he doesn’t find out you’re only doing it because you have a massive crush on him and aren’t even in biology.
pairing: collegestudent!peter parker x reader
a/n: i missed this series so i decided to bring it back! i’m not even going to bother tagging btw because its been so long. i hope you enjoy anyway.
[the series masterlist]
Peter Parker can barely sleep that night.
He’s far too busy thinking about the cute girl from down the hall who wants him to tutor her. He thinks of every moment he’s seen you, and he remembers them all. Your first meeting was quite awkward, and admittedly so was the second one. He doesn’t know what, but there was something about you that made him feel like he was back home in Queens, a feeling he could get used to.
Of course he tells Ned all about it when he returns. Ned thinks his best friend might be developing a major crush on you, and he’s correct. He notices that the smile never leaves his face as he talk about how smart you were, to which Ned replies, “You’ve never even had a class with her, how do you know that?” “I don’t need to know, dude, I can just tell.” Ned nudges him with him his elbow with a smirk on his face. He knew this crush would likely not go away any time soon.
He reviews his biology notes all throughout his morning European history lecture, not even bothering to pay attention. Peter wants to make sure he has everything together for your tutoring session. And when he returns to his dorm at the end of the day, he’s nervous to say the least. He sees you in passing in the hallway, and you flash him a smile that nearly stops his heart.
“Hey, Peter! Study sesh still on for tonight?” You ask, fumbling for your key to your dorm.
“Yeah, definitely!” He says back to you. He was going to go to the movie night in the dorm lounge, but he wouldn’t cancel on you for anything. This was his chance. Maybe, just maybe, he would ‘make a move’, as Ned urged him to the night before.
You’re struggling to get ready that night. Julie cooes at you as you check your appearance in the mirror once more. She’s going through your side of the closet, picking and choosing possible outfits. “Ooh, wear this!” She holds up a hanger with a red, floral patterned dress to her own body and catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror.
You’re still doing light touch-ups to your makeup and you look at her in the mirror. “Julie, it’s a tutoring session, not a backyard barbecue.” Her smile fades, but not before a chuckle escapes her lips. She sighs then, placing the dress back and flopping down on her bed.
“I ship you and Peter so hard.”
“As you’ve said.” You comment. Your roommates comments about your crush were all but endearing, and you were glad you had someone to root for you like she did.
You realize it’s 5 o’clock, Peter would be expecting you now. You reach over and grab your favorite destressed denim jacket off the hanger and slip in on, giving Julie a twil in your outfit. Julie sits up to look at you and a smile emerges. “You look great.”
You silently thank her and she helps you collect your bookbag and textbooks. “Now go get your man! I expect a three-page double-spaced report on what happened when you get back!”
You just roll your eyes playfully at her, waving a final goodbye as you slip out of your room.
Peter is in the middle of color-coordinating his notes (which is surprisingly difficult, mind you, especially when he and Ned wasted ten minutes arguing over the difference between blue-green and turquoise), when you knock on the door.
He feels his stomach do a small flip, and Ned is getting up to answer you. He smiles widely as soon as he does. “Hey, Y/N.”
“Hey, Ned.” You return his smile even though you’re a little thrown off at him answering the door instead of Peter. “W-where’s Peter?”
“Oh, he’s in here. I was just heading to the library,” he slips past you and before you know it, he’s halfway down the hall calling out a goodbye to you and Peter.
When you timidly enter the threshold of his dorm, he’s sitting on his perfectly-made bed, notes spread out across it. You immediately take in the decor of his room– a Star Wars poster hangs above his bed, and the room is overall surprisingly clean and organized for two teenage boys.
But Peter doesn’t even notice you observing his whole room. He’s too busy taking this whole situation in. You somehow even look more alluring than he remembers and– was that a new jacket?
He really can’t get enough of you.
The words come out before he can stop them. “You… you look nice.” He offers you a sheepish smile.
You feel like you might explode, your cheek surely reddening at his compliment. “Thanks, Peter. So do you.”
You smile instictually at the boy and he clears out a space for you to sit across from him on his bed. Your heart starts beating rapidly for some reason, and you couldn’t stop it even if you tried.
You’re both sitting in silence for a moment, kind of just staring at each other. Neither of you really knew where to go from here. Not to mention, you still haven’t really decided if you would at least try and tell him how you felt. But judging by your complete silence, Peter wouldn’t know your feelings. At least not today, he wouldn’t.
“So,” he awkwardly clears his throat. “Where should we start?”
“Um, I guess what I don’t really understand is the whole ecology aspect?” You say, and can’t think of how absurd you feel. You weren’t even in a biology course, you just wanted to spend some time with Peter. Luckily, Julie was and you remember her telling you about how boring the ecology lecture was.
Peter shuffles through his notes to find the ones from that lecture, and your eyes are still scaning the walls. He’s explaining ecosystems to you, but you’re not reallt listening. It’s then that you see it– a framed picture of Peter and Tony Stark sitting on his desk. You audibly gasp.
“Oh my God, is that you and Tony Stark?” You point at the picture. Peter turns to see what you’re looking at.
“Oh, yeah. I had an internship at Stark Industries in high school.” He smiles, getting up to grab it and hand it to you to get a better look. You’re visibly impressed, and Peter can tell.
“That is so cool,” you’re still staring at the photo in awe, and Peter blushes. He can’t believe this is happening to him. “Not to sound, like, I don’t know, weird but I love Tony Stark. All of the Avengers actually.”
Somehow, his heart starts racing even faster than before. “Y-yeah, me too. Iron Man is defintely my favorite, though. Thor is cool too.”
You look up at him only for a second to smile. “Spider-Man is definitely my favorite.”
Peter feels like he might pass out.
“I’ve heard he’s a cool guy.”
“I bet,” you hand the photo back to him and he puts it back in its rightful place on his desk.
You can’t even focus on biology anymore, you’re too busy wondering what else Peter had done aside from his Stark internship. And you thought he was out of your league then, he was almost unattainable at this point.
Wait until Julie hears this.
You and Peter spend the rest of the night talking about anything but biology. You’re laughing at all of his jokes, which makes you all the more attractive to him. You listen to him tell stories from back home, and you find out that you have much more in common than you thought.
You both realize it was almost 10 o’clock when Ned returns from the library, several books in hand. Peter’s heart sinks when he realizes you’re collecting your things, on your way out. He opens the door for you, and you’re both standing in the hallway facing each other.
“Thanks for the help again, Peter,” you say, placing a hand on his arm. “It really means a lot. I actually had fun learning about ecosystems.”
He smiles nervously. “Of course. I had fun too.”
A moment of silence passes again and you start to notice how many awkward silences you’ve already shared together when Peter clears his throat. “Hey, um, I was actually planning on going to this film marathon thing that the science department is sponsoring next week, and… would you want to come with? There might be some professors there who can give you extra help with all this stuff if you still needed it, too.” His hands are clasped and they feel clamy. He’s anticipating your response.
You answer without even thinking twice. “Yeah, definitely. That should be fun.”
He’s beaming now. “Great!”
“Great.”
“Awesome.”
“Fantastic.”
You both start laughing, and you realize you’re both talking to avoid yet another awkward silence when your phone vibrates in your hand. You glance at it to see a text from Julie; What happened?! Why are you laughing?? Another follows a moment after; I’m waitingggg. No pressure.
“Is that your roommate? Julie?” Peter says when he notices you reading from your phone.
“Yeah, I oughta get back.” You shove your phone into your pocket and start walking back to your dorm. “Later, Parker.”
“Night, Y/L/N.” A grin.
“Tell Mr. Stark I said hello!” You’re touching the handle to your dorm door before the conversation is even over.
“Will do!” He calls back, and you both slip into your respective doors.
Yup. Peter Parker was definitely falling for you.

Yandere DRV3 Boys
I fucked up the ask but I hope whoever requested this likes it :’)
The girls can be found right here
(Trigger Warnings for the following: Abuse (Emotional and Physical), Kidnapping, Manipulation, Suicide, Self Harm, Eating Disorders, Implied Murder, and Implied Torture)
Rantaro Amami
Probably fell in love with you when you asked him for help with something and thanked him for it by helping him with something he was struggling with
Wants to feel needed 24/7 so he just kinda
Does everything for you
All the time
Whether that means doing your homework, bringing you a lunch, buying you expensive gifts, or just being a shoulder to lean on
God help the people you vent about though
He's basically your personal problem solver so when people are the problem there's only one solution
Doesn't really mind you having friends because they make you happy and that's all he really wants
But again, god help the ones he deems unworthy
Definitely introduces you to his sisters
The amount of attention and devotion he gives to you probably worries his sisters though, and can lead to fights between him and them
They realize he's running himself ragged trying to take care of everything for you but he doesn't see that as a problem
In his mind you're helpless and need his help all the time and since he loves you why wouldn't he try to help :)
Who cares if he's tired, you take priority :))
You have to be careful about trying to get him to take breaks because if he knows what you're doing he'll get huffy
So you have to be like “awww maaaannn I'm super tired, will you cuddle with me for a while?" and hope for the best
Make sure you put in some effort too
He has it in his head that he needs to be doing everything for the both of you so
Make!! Sure!! He!! Rests!!
He'll overwork himself if you don't
He also makes a lot of decisions for you so if Y'all go to a restaurant he's ordering for the both of you
Overall a good boy who I would die for
Kokichi Ouma
Did somebody say mind games?
Probably fell in love with you when you exceeded his predictions multiple times
I imagine he's a lot like Izuru and Junko when it comes to being bored so when you came along his heart just !!!!
Finally, someone who didn't bore him to tears
And that's when things went from bad to worse
Gets really clingy shortly after his obsession starts
Always making excuses to be near you
He just doesn't wanna lose the only person who isn’t absolutely boring, okaaayyy~?
That being said you're not allowed to talk to other people period
He takes it as a personal offense tbh
Wants you to talk to him, pay attention to him and just never look away
Talking to you is something he enjoys immensely btw
Bonus points if you can see through his bullshit
Not gonna lie he's probably gonna threaten you a lot
Don't get him wrong he loves you dearly but
He wants to be the only one you think of
Would kidnap you given the chance
Probably tried to get DICE to kidnap you but since they thought it was a bit much for a “prank" they didn't do it
He screamed and yelled when they didn't
They're terrified of him at this point but that doesn't matter because he has you!!
Have fun being locked in what used to be DICE HQ
He doesn't actually love you btw
It's just flat out obsession
Try your best to keep him entertained with you
If you don't he's gonna be sorely disappointed in you and you're gonna be horribly disfigured by the end of it
After all, what do you do with toys you don't like anymore?
: )
Kiibo
Probably didn't realize he fell in love until waaaaay later
All he knew was that you were really nice to him and caused him to overheat like a motherfucker
Poor Miu honestly
She's probably the one who told him about his feelings but we all know she gave him more questions than answers
Google: what is a smash and why do I want to do it????
Bless him
He just wants to impress you so he researches fucking everything he can about dating
Also if you like the more robotic aspects of him he asks Miu for hella upgrades
Would straight up do anything for you just so you would keep looking at him
Gets jealous a fair amount but he doesn't know what it is or why he feels it so he just acts pouty
That being said he's kinda indifferent towards your friends for the most part but he doesn't think they deserve you
He's done so much for you to keep looking at him and what have they done? Nothing, that's what.
You trying to leave him would be your downfall
Idk why you would but if you did that's when he fuckin snaps
He's tried so hard and you still won't look his way
Nuh-uh
His thinking does a 180 and now he expects you to do everything you can to make it up to him
If you don't he's gonna get real nasty with you
Not above blackmail and threats at this point
He acts like you owe him everything
Why couldn't you just love him for the jetpack??!?
Shuichi Saihara
S t a l k e r
Fell in love when you were consistently nice to him
Probably sees it as some sort of debt that he can never pay back
Like Rantaro he just wants to make you happy but unlike Rantaro he's doing it from the sidelines
Leaves nice notes in your locker, candy in your desk, and anything he can think to do to make you happy
Doesn't care if you know it's him
He just needs to pay you back for being such a kind person
If you find out it's him he's over the moon
Until you say you want him to stop
W hat???? Why????
He's near tears you fucking monster
When you explain it's just because you feel guilty that he's putting in all this effort he reassures you that it's fine
He would do anything for you after all
Now if you're not a cuntlord like me and you don't want him to keep doing this he's heartbroken
Takes it as a flat-out rejection
And that's when the emotional manipulation rears its ugly head
The worst part is he's not trying to manipulate you he's doing this because he feels like he needs to
And by this I mean he's eating and sleeping less and probably started cutting himself as a sick form of punishment for making you mad at him
You were just too kind to do it yourself so he has to do it
When you find out and tell him to stop again he's sobbing
He just doesn't know what you want him to do any more
You need to be real careful around him at that moment
Reject him and he will lose all faith in himself along with any confidence he ever had
Might kill himself not gonna lie
Choose to accept him and he's listening to everything you say like its gospel
If you want something done it gets done no matter what
Just… try not to abuse your power… he'll make himself sick trying to do everything for you
Overall he's a really big emo and I love him a lot; 10/10 would die for this man
Ryoma Hoshi
Another emo piece of shit
He's a lot like Shuichi except he doesn't stalk you
He just kinda stays at your side
Unless you tell him to go away; then he's stalking you
Fell for you for the same reason Shuichi did except you really had to give it your all
He sees you as his new reason to live and thinks that since you saved his life it's only fair that he spends it trying to make you happy
It's the least he can do
As a bonus, he would totally let you make a whole bunch of short jokes and would genuinely laugh at every one of them lmao
If you tell him to stop hanging around you he is crushed
Starts taking risks like no tomorrow
He smokes 2 packs a day and is right back where he started, if not worse, on the suicidal front
Doesn't even try to make it up to you because he doesn't believe he can
You were his second chance and he blew it
Now he's just stuck in this funk until he eventually just dies
He either kicks the bucket from health problems caused by smoking or doing something stupid like walking into traffic
All he wanted was to make you happy
Kaito “luminary of the stars" Momota
Fell for you when you both were talking about space and you managed to out-nerd him
Wholeheartedly believes he deserves you
Why wouldn't he? After all, he's a fucking astronaut
An astronaut
Who wouldn't want a cool guy like him?
Apparently, you, because when he started flirting with him you shut him down immediately.
Well shit
That's okay! He likes them feisty too!
Tries showing off but nothing's working
Okay, now he's pissed.
Great.
He still keeps trying but on the inside, he's starting to doubt himself
Why isn't THE Kaito Momota good enough for you
Truly snaps for the first time when he finds out you have a boyfriend
Why the Fuck would you pick some loser, who's not even an astronaut, over him: Kaito. Mother. Fucking. Momota.
He's done
Kidnaps you and tortures your boyfriend in front of you
He doesn't even care if you love him as long as your his, you can hate him all you want for all he cares
He might even hate you a little bit back tbh
You're nothing more than a trophy to him right now
Can somebody say yikes?
Gonta Gokuhara
Precious
Too good for this
I can totally see him kidnapping you and keeping you in a giant terrarium though
He would probably fall for you after you weren't afraid of him due to his stature. Also, if you say you like bugs (even just one bug like a butterfly or a ladybug)
After he started obsessing over you he also started killing his entire bug collection
Gonta only collects the prettiest of bugs after all
Why would he need all those ugly bugs when he has the prettiest thing he has ever laid eyes on locked away for his eyes only
Might realize it's wrong to keep you locked up but not before you lose hope of ever getting out and break
Actively tries to get you out of your cage now
Doesn't work though because you barely talk and don't move on your own
:’D
Korekiyo “I will rip out your nerves” Shinguji
Let's get this straight: He doesn't love you.
He's obsessed with you, yeah
But he doesn't love you
He wants to observe your beauty and nothing more
Actually won't kidnap you
Hurray!
He just intensively stalks you
Un-hurray!
It's gotten to the point where he can predict you with ease
He knows your schedule, your hangouts, your friends, and your mother's maiden name
Probably has tea with your mother on the weekends, just saying
He prioritizes watching you above everything, even food and hygiene
He's getting a little thin… :( your mom is worried about her new friend :(
Doesn't matter because how could he miss you doing laundry!! So exciting!!
The big drawback with this man is that all he does is watch
If you're getting bullied, beat on, made fun of, abused; does not fucking matter
Kukukuku the faces you make while you're in agony are exquisite
Overall he's not much of a problem unless you don't want to be watched 24/7
….
I still hate him tho

Week 2 - Today we’ve come back after half term and overall I feel quite tired as I fell back into a bad routine of staying up too late and not having a usual routine. I felt I didn’t get a lot done and took this time to rest from college as I still had to focus on my job and hadn’t quite recovered from the previous project yet. Its definitely made me feel a little deflated and not as prepared as I want to be but I also think I needed this break to now come back and be ready to work hard for the next few weeks to finish this project. However, I completed the mood board task set out in the previous lesson and I really liked the outcome and felt proud of myself, it was very aesthetically pleasing.
In lesson we looked at in store displays and floor walk planning - something I feel very comfortable with as I create these day to day at work. It was interesting learning about focal points and other display techniques as in my work I’m usually very limited to a certain style and given restrictions usually through guidelines about the placement of merchandise and with what metalwork/displays/fixtures we have available in our store. In addition to this we learnt about retail legislation, consumer rights and health & safety. For Health & safety we learnt the procedures and cautions we should take as retail staff and why, this again I found fairly tedious as I’ve struggled through watching all the videos at work for various brands and know it all already. Consumer rights was good to solidify my understanding - although I know how to deal with customer issue and queries I never learnt the actual laws so this was beneficial for me to broaden my knowledge and gave me more confidence in the workplace - as a supervisor I have to train and answer other staff members questions and be the port of call when a customer has an issue about a refund or faulty item.
The other lesson was on fashion photography which was a lot more stimulating for me we learnt about different types of photography like street style and editorial and what aspects make a good photo. I’ve added to my to do list to research more photographers like Tim Walker to get more understanding and to in tern hopefully improve my photography. We also covered art movements and how they influence fashion and had to complete a C&C task related to the movements we researched. I chose cubism and created a collage dress from b&w editorial images of facial features I found in magazines like vogue. I aimed to finish this in lesson, however I didn’t manage to finish the explanation, so I aimed to do it on the train journey back home as it was fresh in my mind. I felt very drained after that day and ended up napping on the train so had to complete it later in the week, I took from this that I need to get more sleep and not leave lots of small pieces of work unfinished as its harder to go back and complete it when it isn’t fresh in my mind. We also covered editing, we went out around the college to take our own photos to come back and edit. I enjoy photography but felt quite limited to buildings, I think I need to improve on my confidence to be able to ask people to take their photo as I really like street style photography. I also need to take more photos in everyday life, constantly collecting images of various things or scenes will be useful for future projects and inspiration. When it came to editing I played it quite safe and felt there wasn’t much I could do to the images. It meant my images came out quite plain - so next time I’ll aim to be more adventurous in my photography and editing.

Process Journal
Link to my Learning Agreement
2.10.20
This week I organized all of the Polaroids I’ve taken thus far into mini books to help organize and protect the film. I’m still working on finalizing the list of “bucket list” items I want to complete, as well as what the journal entry prompts will be. Besides the pretty big gap in research that I have with this, my project doesn’t feel “substantial” enough right now, if that makes any sense.
Tumblr media
Some of the photos below!
Tumblr media
(above is from the museum I went to, below is from my trip to Israel!)
Tumblr media
Additionally, I did a critical response workshop with fellow Arts Scholar Adriana Alonzo:
Critical Response Process-w/ Adriana Alonzo
Statements of Meaning:
- Likes how this project has an air of “fulfillment”
- “Fun” premise; Makes it real life, not a HW assignment
Artist as the Questioner:
Research angle: the mental health benefits of traveling, journaling; Research the individual aspects of your project
- Logging mental health over a long period of time
-follow up research on the ones I enjoyed
Neutral Questions
- How many “experiences” do you plan having; do you know
Goal between 10-12; subsections within each “header”; don’t have final list
- How are you going to set up website?
Current plan is to have a gallery, but also direct links to each experience; A more clean cut design than the original scrapbook
- Any research on website?
Probably gonna have a page about that; be the home screen? (maybe not)
Permissioned Opinions
- Do you like the experiences I’ve brought up?
“It’s cute! I think the mix you have is good; always people to relate, like you want”
2.12.20
I had my advisor conference today with Heather and she gave me some really great advice on avenues I can go down for the research end of things. One thing Heather said that is really sticking with me is what she said about making this an experiment of sorts—I’m not just going to complete these bucket list experiences, but having a common theme/experiment throughout that will help me connect them. What if this experiment was prose related? I wanted to add in a writing element other than journaling originally so this could be my opportunity to do that.
I’ve also decided to use Wix for the final web format. It’s easy to use but also has the opportunity for “advanced tinkering,” as I like to say.
2.17.20
I’ve had a breakthrough today—I was hanging out with my writer friend and I remembered a while back she was talking about how one of her english classes had them do an assignment where they had to “people watch” for thirty minutes once a week and write down some of the conversations they overheard. My friend used this to help better her dialogue in her writing. I’ve decided to emulate this but take it a step further: I’m going to go to places I’ve always wanted to go to, but I’m going to people watch at these places—write down snippets of conversation I might overhear, etc—and then choose a subject/person to write a short story about. This allows me to not only experience new things, but try and put myself in a new mindset, context, by writing in these places about someone/something else. Because there’s a new, more time-consuming and creative-consuming element to this capstone, I think it’s wise that I aim for 5-6 total pieces/experiences instead of the originally intended 10-12.
2.19.20
I had my first look presentation today and overall I’ve gotten some really good feedback from everyone. I still need to thoroughly go through the flashcards I got from everyone, but so far everyone seems to like the direction it's going, even giving some great suggestions for what format the stories should be in (flash fiction maybe? Or even dabble in poetry as well) and how I could narratively tie all the stories together. Below is the google document I used to succinctly point out the differences and similarities between this “new” capstone and the old one.
A Collection of Stories Inspired by People (or Wizard) Watching
SIMILAR ELEMENTS
Still In a web format
Still involves me going out and trying new things; simply asks me to be more engaged with my surroundings and other people there
Still involves reflection/journaling on my part
Still involves a photographic complement
DIFFERENT ELEMENTS
New narrative element- I’m writing a short story about a person experiencing the space I’m in;
Possibly contrasting and/or complementing that story to my own personal emotions tied to that space
Story is going to be the main focus, while my own thoughts are going to be secondary
RESEARCH
Fairly new idea, so I’m working on curating a new list of sources, but I’m going to primarily focus on researching the benefits of people watching, actively being creative in a new space (seeing how that affects my writing process), etc
2.21.20
Today I started messing with Wix a bit. I’m definitely jumping ahead on my schedule and ignoring what I should really be doing (research!!) but I’m giving myself some breathing room to get my thoughts and such accumulated to this new idea. I don’t want to share any pictures of my website bare bones until
2.24.20
My goal for this week (on top of research) was to compile a rough list of the places I want to go for writing this story. A lot of the preliminary reserach I’ve done on writing/being creative in a new space suggests having a “control;” this means, in regards to this particular project, that I need to write in a space I’m familiar with and see how that differs from writing in a completely new space. Then there’s also the question of how I’ll write at the beginning when I’m first introduced to the new space, and then how’ll write once I get slightly more acclimated to the space. Regardless, here are my ideas for where to people watch/write as of today:
(1) Starbucks route 1 [serves as my control for this “experiment”]
(2) Bookstore/Restaurant (I’m visiting one next Thursday for a comedy show)
(3) “Somewhere” in NYC (visiting w/ scholars—write during free time?)
(4) Center of a campus (not UMD— maybe Towson? over Spring Break?)
I don’t want a totally “complete” list yet, as I want opportunities to present themselves as I go along, but I still think it’s good to have a basic list of things to do. I think the first thing that I’ll end up doing is either the Starbucks one (my control) or the bookstore/restaurant since I’m attending a comedy event at one next Thursday.
3.1.20
I haven’t really made much headway in research, writing, or anything to be honest. I had a pretty busy weekend—worked most of Friday and all of Saturday— and now I’m starting to get a little bit nervous. I’m switching up my weekly plan a bit and having this week be primarily research and working on my annotated bibliography. Then maybe I’ll have a good idea of how I want to go about people watching for the comedy show this Thursday.
3.4.20
Last week we had arts scholars alumni join us for our weekly discussions. While I was expecting a plethora of great advice from each of them, It was also great to hear about how they each struggled, and that changing your mind is okay.
3.10.20
Tonight we heard that school is going to be closed down for the next month or so because of the current worldwide health situation (it might be a pandemic. we don’t know yet). As much as I hate to admit it I’m more annoyed than anything, but I understand how paramount safety and health is over any frustrations I might have. I know we’ll adjust accordingly. I hadn’t really thought about how this was going to affect my capstone until now. Hopefully I’ll still be able to travel to new places. Everything’s pretty hectic right now so we’ll see what the next few weeks bring.
3.25.20
Creativity; Time Management Chosen Technique: Incubation. While I’ve utilized “taking a break” while I’m working, (going to take a walk, etc) I’ve never really considered it in the context of “this is my time to let my thoughts marinate.” I really enjoyed reframing my mindset while taking incubation breaks and found that it allowed me to not only work longer, but more effectively.
3.31.20
It’s been an interesting month to say the least. I’m going to have to change my capstone quite a bit in light of the rest of the semester being online and not being able to travel to write my pieces. I’m really not quite sure what I’m going to do, but we’ll see. I have nothing to show at this time. I have my research but I haven’t dived into writing because I’m unsure of what direction to go in. Perhaps after I talk with Heather I’ll have some more direction.
4.5.20
Curation Rapid Prototyping Exercise: essentially, my sketching revolved around the various menu tabs I want for my website.
- An Artist’s Statement/Process page (BTS)
- Research page
- A central page for someone to visit that organizes all of the pieces onto one “table of contents” that links to each pieces individual page
- An individual page for each piece
- A contact page?
Second Advisor Meeting: 4/9/20
I met with my arts advisor (Heather!) over ZOOM today and thank god because I can salvage this capstone. I honestly with I’d reached out to her sooner. We’ve found a way to salvage my research and redirect/reword it to fit the current situation. I’ll be writing about rooms in my house that I’ve changed emotions for. It plays into my research on the Differential Susceptibility Hypothesis (our susceptibility of change due to environmental factors) and change itself. I want these pieces to encapsulate a clear before and after, and how that may have negatively or positively affected me.
Second Look Presentation: 4/17/20
Going into the second look presentations I felt more grounded in what I wanted to write about and the literary mediums I was going to write about. However I still feel like I’m lacking focus. Heather’s feedback on my central question really had me think about how I can clarify and specify the focus and the audience of my capstone. I’ve decided to rephrase my central question as: What’s new? It proposes that something has changed, but it allows me the flexibility to offer different answers with each prose. I intend to add some context to this question on my Wix page (perhaps in the process section?).
4.21.20
For my show and tell I’d like to share a screenshot of the brainstorming process of my pieces right now, alongside a few little rough excerpts. I’ve also thought of doing a mini photo shoot to provide visuals for each of these pieces if I have time.

The Method Behind The Madness
Creative writing is deeper than putting words into sentences, those sentences into paragraphs, and those paragraphs into a story. Writing is a unique, dynamic, and expressive form of art. As the sole author and editor of everything published on this blog, I pour my heart out in every post to ensure peak levels of quality. On a personal note, though, this post in specific will outline the basic steps I take when writing and how I produce my own literary art. Please remember that what works for me may not work for you and everyone’s mind is different; mine happens to find order where others would chaos, yet there still is a method behind the madness.
Step One: Music is everything!
Before I even write a single word, I listen to (and reflect upon) diverse, rather ‘weird,’ music for inspiration. I typically tend to stray away from mainstream pop or rap songs when searching for inspiration as I believe the most effective way to tap into my creative mind is through understanding somebody else's. Listening to music also helps me imagine scenes, characters, and storylines based on the beat (upbeat or sad), words (vulgar or selective), and tone (sombre or ravaging). Listed below are a couple of songs in my personal “writing playlist” that help me write with ease.
1. Digital Farm Animals – Didn't Know (feat. Yasmin)
2. Middle School – How To Say Sorry. (w/ ÊMIA)
3. Jakubi - Couch Potato
4. Milky Chance - Stolen Dance
5. IDK - Pizza Shop Extended (with Yung Gleesh, MF Doom & Del The Funky Homosapien) INSPIRATION BEHIND “In the Silent Stillness”
6. IDK - Pizza Shop Extended (with Yung Gleesh, MF Doom & Del The Funky Homosapien) INSPIRATION BEHIND “Young Gunnin’”
Step Two: Be in your element!
Another pre-writing step that must be considered before starting your work of art is where you are. I find it essential to write in a place that allows you to be comfortable and free from distractions. I struggle writing at school as there are just so many distractions-- friends, teachers, time restrictions, and other unrelated, school-induced drama. By working at home, for example, or a coffee shop/library (like I am right now at the time of writing this), you are more prone to WANT to write. The environment definitely has a strong influence on your attention to the story and, from experience, can help me tap into my creativity, and overall encourage me to explore unique aspects are perspectives. If I choose to stay home, though, I really make a sublime effort to make myself as relaxed, calm, collected, and comfortable as possible. Personally, I enjoy turning on my essential oil diffuser alongside my strong, LED lamp to light up my room entirely. I keep the lights off, aside from the lamp, and wrap myself in blankets over my hoodie with the hood covering my head. With music playing from my headphones, the energy just flows into me and allows me to produce great work. Warmth, good smells, and inspiring music help me get into my element and facilitates an environment where I can produce great art and quality stories.
The next post will discuss my writing process itself and will explore the steps I take when making my creative art.
Thank you for reading my blog and stopping by. Remember, the power is in your hands. Write the Future.

i don’t really know, man. rom/an’s always been my favorite wrestler, pretty much since my grandpa sent me a video of him in FCW. and when i was rp’ing in a group, i had wanted to rp as him but was unable to, so coming to the indies was something on my mind so i could rp as him, definitely. i guess just because he was my favorite?
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ASPECTS OF YOUR CURRENT MUSE:
like, as how i write him? probably his overall sweetness, kindness and attitude towards things. hell, that’s for the man himself, to be honest. i don’t know, just going through life, knowing that he get’s through a shit load of things without letting it really effect him - or letting it show how it affects him - is probably why i love him so much. or one of the reasons. that reason, specifically, is what made myself able to keep going on in life, really.
WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION WHEN IT COMES TO WRITING:
eh, probably just, knowing that i could write roman in a way that would make me proud as a fan, or deal with certain things that the w/w/e are too afraid to deal with? or won’t do in general, with his character. i guess, also, making him completely different than how most rp’er’s do. i remember this one user, she had messaged me ooc saying that, as a samoan who knew the family, she was proud of the fact that i kept his heritage in tact throughout everything. i don’t know how much to believe about the knowing his famly bit, but that still made me super happy.
FAVORITE TYPES OF THREADS:
lol, not angst. as someone who went through a major stage of depression, has attempted suicide, gone through a lot of triggering things - i just, don’t enjoy writing all angst all of the time. i can handle it every now and then, but i prefer fluffy, cute things, or emotional, serious, thinker things. angst is fine, but as long as it’s not on-going throughout everything and there’s a resolution, eventually.
BIGGEST STRUGGLE IN REGARDS TO YOUR CURRENT MUSE:
i guess, how everyone seems to be happy about his character, and the storyline, and doesn’t just... look past the fact that he hasn’t been treated equally within the storyline? also the racism. definitely that.

Winter 2017 - Final Impressions
This is like a week late (again), but here are my thoughts about the animes I watched that finished this season! There’s 10 reviews under the cut, and they’re listed in alphabetical order for your convenience~
3-gatsu no Lion (March comes in like a Lion) - 9 / 10 ( A )
a super good character drama!!! I love how it focuses on themes of depression / loneliness as well!
the art / animation by Shaft is… well, very Shaft-like! (thanks Akiyuki Shinbo~)
good use of both muted / pastel colors and sharp / dark colors in different scenarios
hash lines were used on characters as well! gives it a sketch-like quality~
the animation itself was quite good too! mostly subdued, but had moments of really good fluidity
this shows itself the most in the more artistic sequences, for sure
and since this is Shaft, BOY did they pull out all the stops for those sequences!
…and yes, the infamous headtilts are also here :P
It was also good w/ the comedic animation (including w/ expressions!)
a note about *sound* for a sec: they always had voice-over to go w/ onscreen onomatopoeia!
plus they gave monologue voices to the kawamotos’ cats… interesting choice~
this show just *really* loves cats (even making shogi explanations using cats!)
there are A LOT of really good / memorable characters here; they help the show really shine!
(it IS a character-based drama, after all)
Rei Kiriyama!!! what a great (and relatable!) protag
seeing his mental struggles play out was very interesting to see (& also very complex, in a good way!)
he’s also very sympathetic, despite being a prodigy! he has to deal w/ lots of crap :(
we see him struggle & blame himself a lot, so it’s even better when he finds some happiness or revelation!
HE DESERVES TO BE HAPPY ;A; (…and he definitely makes progress by season’s end!)
there’s so many Good supporting characters that i’d be here all day if I went into detail about them ^^;
the Kawamoto’s are such a supporting family for Rei!!!
all 3 sisters are really good (and occasionally get some spotlight time… mostly Hinata though)
Nikaidou’s also a good guy… he’s kind of like Rei’s rival! (he’s kinda pushy but gives Rei good motivation & help!)
shout-out to Tatsuyuki-san; his personality was quite fun and also loves cats to death
Hayashida-sensei! He’s a bumbling guy, but really gives great advice once in a while :’)
he also is Rei’s main mentor on the school side of things, pulling some strings to help Rei move on to 2nd year ;~;
Shimada-san was a late addition, but HOT DAMN did he have a great impact on Rei + the show
I loved his backstory, i loved his personality, i loved his seiyuu’s performance… great character all around
Kyoko is VERY FAR from a Good character, but she shows more complexities as time goes on
on one hand, she’s VERY manipulative of Rei’s emotions; she also has feelings of jealously towards him + feelings for Gotou
speaking of Gotou, WHAT A FUCKING ASSHOLE
I don’t remember what his first appearance was, but that scene of him riling up Rei made me LIVID
at least he gets beaten by Shimada-san in the lion king tournament >:)
as far as story goes, it’s a character-focused drama; so it follows a year of Rei’s life going through high school and his pro shogi career
the drama comes from both character interactions & developments they go through; it’s executed REALLY WELL
the show pulls off both incredibly goofy and incredibly somber moments quite well!
Rei’s path of self-growth isn’t quite done yet, as the final episode shows him entering 2nd year and establishing a club!
the finale also has a look back on how his perceptions on life & loneliness have changed since he was a kid~
in any case, season 2 is confirmed and will be coming this fall season! \o/
Overall, I really enjoyed this artistic and introspective show! Definitely one of my (four?) picks for AOTS~
ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu ka - 8.0 / 10 ( B )
This was probably the most chill & relaxed anime about bureaucracy and political coups / upheaval that I’ve ever seen xD
animation:
I really like what Madhouse did with the visuals! It’s quite a unique look~
The art style had elements of realism (w/ the characters, at least); however their hair looks fluffy & light! (& some funny facial features, so it’s not all realism :P)
not to mention the backgrounds are brightly colored & watercolor-esque~
the art in general is also kinda sketch-like with the outlines! it’s kind of a rough look but w/ a bunch of charm!
I also have to mention the FOOD in this show; there’s good attention to detail here, plus it’s drawn so nicely (+ even huge sometimes!)
the animation itself was also nice, in terms of subtle movements, like walking or hand/head movements!
super big shout-out to the *opening theme*!!! That was definitely my favorite OP of the season; it’s such a jam!!!
It’s also a nice contrast from the rest of the show’s tone (the song’s super upbeat, while the show itself is so chill :P)
characters:
The cast overall was interesting to watch; there’s a good mix of personalities here, but all of them contribute to the show’s laidback tone~
Jean Otus (the main protag) can sneaky when he wants to (but he’s mostly nonchalant)
he’s a nice guy, but doesn’t emote much… it can be hard to get a read of what he’s thinking, for sure
either way, he’s still quite caring (towards Nino & his sister Lotta, at least)
Nino’s great… he’s my favorite character in this show, for sure
he can be really sneaky sometimes, but is also a genuine friend to Jean & Lotta :’)
I also really liked seeing how tight Jean & Nino’s bond was~
it also helps that his seiyuu (Kenjiro Tsuda) had a great performance voicing him~
Lotta is a happy & cheerful girl who loves her food / bread! (she doesn’t contribute much to the overarching plot, though)
Rail (the policeman) gets dragged into some plot happenings from time to time, but proves to be a nice guy by the end
Prince Schwan, despite being the next-in-line for the throne, doesn’t seem to do much in the overarching plot (at least not until the finale?)?
in any case, any character voiced by Miyano Mamoru is still fun to watch regardless
Maggie (Schwan’s guard) keeps a good eye on him
plus he’s kinda a dork… in a deadpan way (& he sure loves his sandwich bread)
Lilium kinda blended in w/ the other ACCA chairmen in the beginning, but eventually showed his true (i.e. evil) intentions by ep. 10 or so
poor Grossular’s had it rough; first he had his country take responsibility for a major train accident, and now Lilium blackmailed / took advantage of him :(
he was a prime suspect to being the true identity of Nino’s main boss for a while, too! (it ended up being Oulu, the blond mustache guy xD)
Mauve was a good & strong female authority figure in ACCA too! She kinda acted like a private investigator at times :P
I was unsure where she stood most of the time, but I’m glad she proved to be the one to thwart Lilium’s plan in the end~
the other five chairman + other ACCA members were… just kinda there. That’s all I’m gonna say about them ^^;
story:
the basic premise involves Jean having to travel to each of the 13 districts within the country, while plans for a coup d’etat brew in the background!
no matter what wheeling & dealing was going on during the story, the tone always stayed calm & cool (w/ smooth jazz music to boot xD)
there’s quite a bit going on in the story at any given time, but I will admit it was hard for me to follow much of the time ^^;
many characters being really vague (I’m looking at you, five chairmen…) didn’t really help things in this regard either
of course, you could argue this adds to the mystery / intrigue, so… your mileage my vary
I was still interested in what was happening though! Especially when it involved the main players (& learning more about them!)
I liked the world-building!!! It was cool seeing how each district was different from each other~ (plus the different foods, of course)
episode 4 was particularly interesting, since it involved Suitsu & how it was kinda like a darker-tone mini-version of the overarching plot!
my favorite aspect of the story was learning about Jean’s (& Lotta’s) secret link to the royal family, along w/ Nino’s involvement w/ that!
the episode(s?) that were from Nino’s perspective as he grew up w/ his father (as they both watched the Otus kids) were definitely a highlight for me
the overall picture (or at least, where certain characters stood in the plot) grew clearer by the end, and by the climax, we knew for sure who the main antagonist was
the finale had the “coup” halted swiftly (and calmly, as is tradition in this show), plus we got to see a bit of epilogue too~
the climax itself was pretty short (& kinda underwhelming?), but then again, it makes sense considering how the rest of the show is, tone-wise
also, it’s worth noting that the anime as a whole covered the entirety of its source material! that’s a rarity nowadays!
Overall, I enjoyed my time with ACCA! It’s not the easiest show to follow plot-wise, but it has a cool sense of atmosphere & is just a very suave show in general xD
Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Impure King Arc - 8.5 / 10 ( B+ )
This second season, that we finally got six-ish years later, was pretty good! I think I preferred S1 (or at least the 1st half) but I still like what we got here!
art / animation:
A-1 Pictures did a good job here for the most part!
the art style does have some subtle changes from S1 (like bloom effects and rounder/softer features on characters), but not too different otherwise
I liked how the color palette felt muted and bright at the same time! the backgrounds were also quite nice~
plus the special effects weren’t bad (i.e. fire, the Impure King’s spore-like body)
I did notice some episodes in the middle dipped in animation quality (mostly in character’s faces/heads), which kinda took me out of those episodes :/
other than that, the animation was above average and had some good action animation in there (though not *great*, per se)
characters:
it’s good to finally have these characters back after so long! admittedly, it was had to remember what state they were all in at the start (…six years is a long time, okay?)
Rin is still a good and lovable protag! I love how he has such a kind heart, despite acting rough on the outside xD
he had to win back the trust of his friends (and overcome his fear of losing control of his flames)… i’m glad he got to find his self-worth in the end ;A;
Yukio still takes his duties very seriously and scolds Rin a lot ^^;
he had some mind-games to overcome too, courtesy of Toudou (thoughts like: jealously towards Rin and hating having to watch over him all the time)
not to mention he awakened some demon powers for the first time (demon eyes)!
by the end though, he still has a way to go (as he acknowledges he still very self-hating)
Rin’s entourage of friends were hesitant / distrustful of him at the start (due to events from last season), but were won over one by one eventually~
it was kind of weird being brought back (after so long) to *that* particular point… it was a little jarring from what I remembered of them before
Shiemi felt like she wasn’t being of much help (especially since Nee got temporarily destroyed), but she gained back her resolve as well \o/
plus she helped Rin gain confidence w/ a hug & nice words in ep. 7 :’)
Ryuuji got some focus as well, as he had a rocky relationship w/ his dad (which struck a GREAT parallel as pointed out in ep. 4)
Tatsuma was seen as suspicious despite his cheerful / ditzy attitude, but learning about the secrets he had to hide made him more lovable~
In general, we got to learn more about where Ryuuji, Konekomaru, and Renzou grew up and learn about their family sects!
Shura is still a good mentor / ally to Rin (& his friends), while also keeping him in line~
Toudou (the human villain of this season) was a good manipulator / mind-game player… that’s about it ^^;
…and Shirou is still a great example of a dead character remaining relevant throughout the show~
he’s still a motivation for both Rin and Yukio, plus we learned of his history w/ Tatsuma & the Sect!
story:
This arc starts off on a weird place, since not only has it been six years since S1, this arc picks up from the *middle* of S1
of course, this is because this season’s arc is from the manga, while S1’s second half was anime original
that being said, the transition could’ve been smoother; some canon-versions of events are only shown in flashbacks, for example :/
in any case, this arc is all about the Impure King’s eventual revival in Kyoto, and the exorcists having to stop it!
while the main story of this arc wasn’t doing much *new*, necessarily, the execution overall was… pretty good!
there weren’t many moments that reached the emotional highs of S1’s best moments, but they were still good here too~
that being said, stuff like Rin being reassured by Shiemi in ep. 7, and Rin finally controlling his flames in ep. 11… still good moments there!
however, episode 4 was definitely my favorite episode; it brought up that father/son relationship parallel i mentioned earlier in a GREAT way~
it was definitely the best emotional high for me, especially since it made a connection to such a powerful moment in S1 ;~;
I also liked seeing more of Shirou’s past life (as told through Tatsuma), along w/ learning Rin’s sword was originally the Sect’s object of worship!
Seeing Yukio gets confronted w/ mind-games was interesting to see, along w/ him unlocking demon powers for the first time!
It’ll be interesting to see the implications of this later on, assuming we get a S3 ;A;
in this regard, I’ve seen people refer to this arc as a “setup arc”, and I can kinda see why. Progress was made, but there were hints thrown out as well
the finale was an epilogue of sorts, with Rin & friends recovering + seeing the sights, Rin & Yukio talking it out, and hints of Mephisto’s ulterior motives
the talk between brothers at the end definitely left things open-ended for a continuation
Overall, I had a good time with this sequel, and I’m glad I got to see more of this series in general, after so long! The transition from S1’s midpoint can be kinda rocky, but still check this out if you’re a shounen fan~
Demi-chan wa Kataritai (Interviews with Monster Girls) - 8.0 - 8.5 / 10 ( B )
A cute and fun slice-of-life show about a handful of monster girls in high school (plus their teacher)! It does a good job tackling some social issues as well!
art / animation:
A-1 Pictures did a good job with the visuals here! Very light and simple style~
The color palette is full of bright colors (w/ lower saturation), and the character art style has rounded features for girls (some moe influence, probably) & angular ones for boys
The animation itself is mostly standard fare, but has some above-average fluidity w/ some special effects (Yuki’s ice tears come to mind)
it does lend itself well to comedic moments & timing, which is good for this show ^^
characters:
I liked the cast overall! they had a good dynamic together (which is good, considering how they become close friends over time)
Takahashi-sensei was a good (& different) lead for the show! He’s caring and very knowledgable about monster lore~
for a harem-esque main group like this, it’s great to see a different take on the typical “male harem protag” like this!
he’s a good support system for the other demi girls, and helps them be more confident in themselves (& learn more about themselves)!
(he’s like this for even Satou-sensei, since he’s really good at covering up the aphrodisiac effects have on him)
Hikari is hyper and silly, and is a big contributor to this show’s comedic side~
she’s pretty different from vampires of lore, which is explored quite a bit during the show (& ties into the show’s themes too)
I also liked how she’s not afraid to stand up for her new friends (like how she confronted people gossiping about Yuki) :’)
Machi is sort of soft-spoken, but she also smart and willing to talk to others!
she’s the most physically different out of the three (since she’s a dullahan), which leads to interesting (& funny) scenarios w/ her head & body~
she (w/ help from Takahashi & co.) develops work-arounds for her problems, and helps others feel less awkward about talking to her!
her crushing on Takahashi-sensei is… weird (why do you do this, show)
Yuki is definitely the most shy of the three starting out, and has the most noticeable development during her arc
she was self-hating over her demi (snow woman) nature, but the main crew help her learn about her abilities and help her gain confidence!
she becomes more outgoing after her arc, and even is shown to secretly be into hardcore manga~
Satou-sensei is a succubus teacher! She doesn’t have an arc, necessarily, but she gets some character focus nonetheless
she adjusted her daily schedule a lot due to her aphrodisiac effects, and has a hard time trying to confess her feelings for Takahashi
she tends to sympathize w/ Machi’s (& sometimes the others’) feelings towards him… you’re a teacher, don’t condone this… :/
aside from that last point, she is another good occasional support system for the girls, since she’s both a teacher and a fellow demi~
even *she* has her own support(?) system, in the form of Ugaki!
story:
like most slice-of-life anime, this follows the lives of high school girls and show their experiences, both good and bad
however, this one focuses around *supernatural* students: a vampire, a dullahan, and a snow woman! (plus a succubus teacher)
I really liked how this show handled themes of what’s it’s like being different (not unlike people w/ disabilities!), and helping people overcome social stigmas too!
it included stuff ranging from Yuki’s insecurities about her snow woman nature + being gossiped about…
…to more lighthearted stuff, like how Machi wanted to poke fun at her own differences without her friends feeling awkward about it!
the show would also compare & contrast the Demis w/ their mythical counterparts, which ties into this theme well~
moments like Hikari standing up to Yuki’s gossip bullies & the video letter to Takahashi were some of this show’s best moments~
there’s also some fun comedy! (which was kinda hit or miss for me)
the comedy’s at its best when it plays w/ their personalities and/or unique aspects of their Demi natures!
stuff like Takahashi + Hikari’s dynamic, plus Yuki’s hidden “hardcore(?)” side are good examples of this
the show’s comedic timing in general is pretty good!
this also includes the romance stuff though; they code Takahashi-sensei + the Demi’s relationship as romantic sometimes and it’s just… no
thankfully it was only one-sided (since Takahashi explicitly says he wouldn’t have feelings for them), but it still kinda rubbed me the wrong way
the finale was mostly some fun comedy stuff (it was a pool episode), but it threw in some nice heartwarming stuff in the end~
Overall, this was a really enjoyable & laid-back anime that wasn’t afraid to be serious / heartwarming too! (w/ some good social commentary to boot!) In a season full of comedy slice-of-life shows, Demi-chan (& one other) is one of the season’s best~
Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon - 8.5 / 10 ( B+ )
The *other* good SOL comedy this season! Really funny and really cute w/ that reliable KyoAni polish~
art / animation:
as per usual, Kyoto Animation did a great job w/ the visuals!
the style they used this time around is more cartoon-y than their usual style (so closer to Nichijou, rather than Hibike Euphonium)
very bright color palette and (kinda watercolor-like) backgrounds! Just a “simpler”-looking show all around (which is definitely NOT a bad thing!)
the animation itself is, of course, really great too! the fluidity is strong w/ this one~
whether it’s subtle movements or even an action scene or two, the animation has a great sense of movement & body language!
it also lent itself to comedic moments very well! (i.e. well-animated slapstick or good comedic expressions / backgrounds)
there is, also… some fanservice (not a *lot*, per se, but enough that it drove away some people on my twitter feed)
it’s mostly boob-centered, as a few characters have large boobs (w/ Lucoa having *huge* ones), so there’s… boob jiggle sometimes, among other things
the fanservice in this show specifically didn’t bother me *that* much, but your mileage may vary
characters:
the cast as a whole was really fun! they all played off each other well too!
Kobayashi & Tohru have a good dynamic together, and develop a good relationship together too! (let’s be real here… lesbians~)
both of them have pretty different personalities (stoic / brash vs. bright / bubbly), yet work together quite well!
Kanna is somehow stoic & happy at the same time! I like how she’s curious about everything & is just a good bean in general~
Lucoa has a nice “older-sister” dynamic w/ the others! She’s got good wisdom, but can also be a bit of an airhead ^^;
but please… someone tell her to give poor Shouta a break…
Fafnir starts out as wanting nothing but killing & destruction, but eventually bonds w/ Takiya-kun and gets addicted to video games ^^;
I liked seeing how he has his own ways of showing affection / appreciation for others~
(...and he’s voiced by Daisuke Ono, which is always a plus)
Elma didn’t even get introduced until episode 8 (& doesn’t even get a ton of screen time after that), but she’s enjoyable too
her revenge(?) against Kobayashi only lasted for 1 episode(?), and then just becomes an office worker (so she ends up being the most normal dragon, in a way :P)
story:
the premise involves an office worker lady who meets a dragon who decides to be her live-in house maid! (plus there’s other dragons!)
this is a slice-of-life comedy, so like most others, it goes through some daily life scenarios that are also humorous
this time around though, there’s DRAGONS! (so there’s supernatural stuff sometimes involved)
the comedy involved the dragons learning & adapting to aspects of human society, which was fun to watch
I liked seeing how they would react to different situations! (especially since each dragon would respond differently)
the characters bouncing off each other (i.e. dynamic) also led to some good comedic moments
kobayashi & tohru’s relationship was a big contributor to this as well
there were a couple reoccuring gags that got old after a while: Lucoa’s… boob antics w/ Shouta, and Riko’s overreaction to Kanna
the former is… basically rooted in fanservice (leave the poor boy alone! ;~; )
the latter I didn’t have as much issue w/ to start, but after seeing it pointed out on my twitter TL, I can see why people take issue w/ it (i.e. fetishization (i think?))
there were also some really nice heartwarming moments too! stuff like that helps elevate a comedy anime for me~
many of these were centered around the character’s relationships w/ each other (it was nice seeing them grow closer over time!)
the finale had a different, more serious tone than the rest of the show, but it was still really good!
seeing tohru (& eventually kobayashi) confront tohru’s dad really showed how much their relationship (& love for the human world) has grown!
Aside from a couple small issues, I really did have a great time w/ this show! If you’re looking for a fun comedy w/ supernatural elements plus some heartwarming stuff, this won’t let you down~
Kuzu no Honkai (Scum’s Wish) - 9 / 10 ( A )
A really well directed character drama about sexuality and unhealthy relationships… It’s definitely not for everybody, but it’s really well done!
art / animation:
Studio Lerche did a *really good* job with the visuals here! Definitely their best-looking anime yet!
the art style makes good use of muted colors and sketch-like outlines on characters; it makes everything look kind of like a watercolor painting!
they also do close-ups by overlaying a strip or square on top; sort of like a manga panel! (It’s definitely executed better here than in GATE :P )
the art direction in general is just really good… they know how to use lighting well, plus there’s good artistic / stylized scenes when characters are introspective~
as for animation, it’s nothing to write home about, but it gets the job done in the end~
they do sometimes use lower frame rates for artistic / stylistic effect though!
also shout-out to the awesome ED theme by Sayuri! I’d always want to sing along with it at the end of each episode (+ used really well as a transition!)
characters:
this cast is… quite the interesting bunch to say the least ^^;
the show’s english title is “Scum’s Wish”, so yeah, most of the main cast is pretty scummy in one way or another. The good news, though, is that it leads to really good *character development*! \o/
pretty much everybody got at least one focus episode, which is great!!! I love it when shows do that!!!
Hanabi is the main protagonist; she tends to keeps to herself, and is also snarky at times.
she goes through a pretty dark road over the course of the show, but comes to terms w/ herself and what she’s looking for by the end~
Mugi is kinda like Hanabi in some ways, but he can be quite forward at times, and also can get roped into bad situations.
he eventually comes to terms w/ his love situation as well, but it’s a bit of a rockier end for him :(
Akane… is definitely the “villain” of the show, and VERY easy to hate xD
she sleeps w/ guys all the time + plays mind-games w/ Hanabi + Mugi, but by the end, even she finds some happiness & change for the better through her new marriage~
Sanae is Hanabi’s best friend, and also a lesbian! Her personality is very headstrong and sassy at times.
she also starts going after Hanabi in her own way, in hopes of winning her heart… thankfully, the two eventually reconcile (even though it was messy by the end)
Noriko (aka Moca) is Mugi’s childhood friend, who still has feelings for him after so long…
she definitely has the least amount of screen time out of the main characters, but her focus episodes show another side of her character (+ her self-realization as well)
Kanai-san is Hanabi’s crush who falls in love w/ Akane… he doesn’t do much until closer to the end, during Akane’s focus episodes
There’s also Sanae’s cousin and that one womanizer dude, but they aren’t around much (but still have contributions to different character arcs)
story:
the premise on paper definitely will turn some people off, since it’s about two people “dating” each other since they can’t be in relationships w/ who they truly love
not to mention said people they’re in love with are probably 4+ years older than they are (& how Hanabi calls Kanai-san “big bro / onii-chan”… yeah :/ )
also there *are* sex scenes in this show (albeit no actual private parts are shown), and they can get steamy at times ^^;
so yeah, because of these things, this show is definitely *not* for everybody. I don’t blame you if these things’ll turn you off from this show…
that being said, even though this show is about messed-up people in messed-up relationships, it’s very well directed and executed!
they do a really good job of selling the emotion and subtle drama in each scene (including exploring characters’ mindsets really well!)
even though it’s a character drama, they still manage to pull off cliffhangers occasionally! You just want to find out where it’s gonna go from there!
each character arc wrapped up really nicely, and you can tell that they’ve bettered themselves by the end of the show
the final episode itself was great, too! it’s a little bit of a downer that Hanabi and Mugi go their separate ways, but it ties in with the ending quite well~
it also helps that the anime in general is a complete adaptation of the source material! we don’t get enough of those these days~
Overall, I really enjoyed this series, and is definitely one of my AOTS picks! If you like dramatic shows centered around romance, then this is a good one to check out!
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans S2 - 8.5 - 9.0 / 10 ( A- )
This was a really good second season and conclusion to IBO! Not to mention really sad & heartbreaking ;A;
art / animation:
Sunrise did a good job with visuals this season too! The quality is pretty much identical to last season (which is definitely a good thing!)
lots of muted & dark colors; really got the look of a gritty war-centered show down quite well~
Mars and Earth have distinct looks and feel to them too! (Mars has more dark, earth tones, Earth has brighter colors & more cool tones)
actions scenes are pretty good too; the mechas have good fluidity at times! (mostly Mika’s mech; the others have more stilted movements, since they’re, y’know, robots)
characters:
the Tekkadan crew’s back, and they’re still as likable as before~ (of course, this makes it even harder when each one dies ;~; )
Mika is as stone-faced and ready to kill as before… he does lose function of his leg and arm eventually (i think by the end of the 1st half) by using Barbatos too much
Orga becomes a bit different of a leader this season (as evidenced by his new suit!), as he commands from afar and has more negotiating talks w/ other factions
he wrestles w/ a lot of things happening around him, and what the best thing is to do at any given time… he goes through a lot ^^;
Takaki was previously just another guy in Tekkadan, but he got his own character arc during the season’s 1st half!
he had to lead a subsidiary group on Earth, which put him through a lot… in the end, he decides to leave Tekkadan so he can be helpful elsewhere & stay alive ;~;
there were a few new guys on Tekkadan at the start of the season, w/ the most notable being Hush
he wanted to catch up to Mikazuki, so he could be of more help, like his brother(?) that he admired ;~;
there’s some new faces in Gjallerhorn as well, w/ the most notable being Rustal Elion, Julietta, and Iok
Julietta seemed obsessed w/ doing anything Rustal wanted her to do, and Iok… got kind of annoying after a while (he just… wouldn’t… die!)
Iok’s eventual death was really satisfying though~
not to mention Rustal and Iok were responsible for a lot of terrible things that happened to Tekkadan this season (including literally killing them w/ hitmen >:( )
also Nobliss can just go and fuck off (and thankfully he died the most humiliating death imaginable)
I also gotta mention Gaelio, who wore a mask for most of the season (even though it was *really* obvious it was him) + helped stop McGillis
speaking of McGillis, he ramps up his plans this season and put his grand coup de tat into action
he’s more manipulative this season (involving the Bauduins & Tekkadan), but definitely fights to the bitter end (all by himself, even…)
story:
this season picks up not too long after where last season left off; Tekkadan is a more prominent organization alongside Taiwan & Gjallerhorn
their prior successes led to more people wanting to enter Tekkadan’s lifestyle, which wasn’t really what Tekkadan wanted :/
there’s a lot of political wheeling and dealing this season that was interesting to watch, but there’s no way I could remember all the details ^^;
this also applies to military strategy (mostly on Gjallerhorn’s end)
the first half’s main plot beats mostly composed of the Earth branch arc (centering around Takaki), and the Mobile Armor arc!
seeing the Mobile Armor(s) in action was pretty crazy (and scary…), and it took A LOT to take them down!
after that arc, I would’ve expected them to be more relevant in the 2nd half, but that didn’t really happen at all (asides from Dainsleif usage)
the second half sees McGillis’ coup and Tekkadan’s life to its conclusion; going up against the mighty Gjallerhorn, but falling short in the end…
*lots of characters die* during this half… and all of them are REALLY SAD (*especially* Lafter and Orga, who die by hitman gunfire)
each death scene is really effective, but Orga’s especially is SUCH A GOOD SCENE (he dies looking forward the whole time; even his blood moves forward ;~;7 )
I wish he didn’t die 2 episodes before the end, though… Mika & Orga should’ve been able to fight together at the end ;A;
almost every main character dies, including Mikazuki… Tekkadan dies w/ it, making the ending partially a tragedy
the finale has the end of the final fight + epilogue; the antagonists win in the end, but they work w/ Kudelia + others to help make a better world
it felt kind of weird for Gjallerhorn to change like that, considering the bad things they did? But whatever works, I guess :/
that being said, I liked seeing the surviving members of Tekkadan lead new lives, and Atra getting to takes care of her new son :’)
Overall, IBO was an emotional and action-packed ride from start to finish! I really enjoyed my first Gundam series~
Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu S2 - 9 / 10 ( A )
one of my AOTY picks from 2016 strikes again with this great sequel & conclusion to the series!
art / animation by Studio Deen is very subdued and not very flashy (i.e. not much in motion, per se) but it still looks quite pretty
good use of muted colors (both pastel & dark), plus good use of soft shading!
backgrounds looked nice as well! the set pieces in general helped sell many scenes, both artistic & grounded ones~
also super shout-out to that awesome OP sequence! great scenes centering around Yakumo + unsettling music = MAGIC!!!
this season shifts back to modern(?) day, so we see much more of characters that we only saw in the 1st and last episodes of S1!
before we get to that though, let’s talk about Yakumo!!! what a great character / protagonist
he’s a stubborn old man on the outside, but a haunted soul on the inside, who can’t escape his past & the two main people in it
a lot of this show’s appeal was seeing how his story would progress (and finally, conclude)
we all wanted him to find his peace at his death (& even after it!)… it all worked out in the end ;~;
he’s complex in a lot of ways, which makes him interesting to watch for sure (especially after watching S1)
yet another mention to Akira Ishida totally rocking it in his performance; he does it all w/ this character!
Yotaro’s back!!! He’s such a chipper guy the whole way through, and he’s a joy to watch~
He can be very headstrong too, and can help force some sense into people!
The scene where he confronts the gang boss comes to mind
Another part I liked was the episode where he watched Sukeroku’s taped performance… I liked seeing how “into it” he was
He’s also very determined to keep rakugo alive into the future! He was a great foil to Yakumo in general :)
Konatsu is very short-tempered & snappy at times, but she has a caring heart deep down too~
I loved when she got to perform Jugemu!!! She was so happy getting to fulfill her dream! (She even did it again in the finale!)
Her becoming the first female rakugo performer in the end was another added bonus~
I have mixed feelings about her never learning the truth about her father (Sukeroku’s) death... There could’ve been some good character development to come from that, but at least she gets to keep a secret of her own in the finale :P
Speaking of that secret, her teasing about the possible identity of shinnosuke’s father in the finale… i don’t know how i feel about that :/
other supporting characters like Higuchi-san were enjoyable too, even if their contributions were more minor
I did like seeing Higuchi-san butt heads w/ Yakumo on multiple occasions over their viewpoints towards rakugo’s progression though! (It was intriguing drama :P)
I love characters staying relevant even in death, and Sukeroku (and Miyokichi to a lesser extent) are no exception
he’s a motivating factor for Yotaro, but is like a haunting ghost to Yakumo (which is a nice contrast~)
we got to see their development book-ended in episode 11 too~
I’m glad Matsuda-san got to see everything to the very end (including sending Yakumo off in the afterlife) :’)
As for the story, just like last season, this is a character drama first and foremost~
Unlike 3-gatsu no lion, however, there’s more of an overarching plot here (w/ Yakumo’s life story + how rakugo will survive past his death)
the plot was more enjoyable this time around, since we’re finally progressing the modern day timeline! This season picked up right where the 1st season’s finale left off~
it definitely can suck you in w/ its execution! Again, it’s very subdued / laid-back, but you can still sense the tension in the air during many scenes!
any scene involving Yakumo literally seeing things (or his run-ins with the shinigami) definitely grabbed & peaked my interest!
these scenes had a mysterious, almost supernatural vibe to them! It made them even more interesting to watch~
when red-eyed Sukeroku shows up in the OP, it can’t be good news… those cliffhangers were 2spoopy4me :P
I talk about Yakumo’s scenes a lot, but other characters like Yotaro had some really tense and heartwarming scenes at well!
I brought this up in the character section too, but scenes like Yotaro ranting to the gang boss, or Konatsu reciting Jugemu in front of the elementary school kids, were also great!
the transition to Yakumo’s final scene of life to death is kinda weird, but the scenes / episodes on both ends were really nice!
episode 11 was like a de-facto finale, as Yakumo (+ Sukeroku & Miyokichi) got to tie up loose ends in the afterlife, plus Yakumo got to do one last show to the dead crowd (+ Konatsu)~
the finale was a nice little epilogue showing both of Konatsu’s kids all grown up, and how rakugo will continue on~
This season was a great follow-up (& conclusion) to last season! This is definitely an AOTS pick for me (and possible AOTY pick… again ^^; ) If you’re looking for a great character-based historical drama, this is an easy recommendation for sure!
Tales of Zestiria the X S2 - 8.0 / 10 ( B )
this was a good second cour for ToZX! it had some good character focus stuff + action, and (will probably) conclude the story!
Note: This is based off the anime *only*, as I have not played the game(s).
art / animation still looks really nice, thanks to that Ufotable polish & magic~
The motion in action scenes were quite fluid, plus good special effects (i.e. fire, magic, etc.), which just makes it… really nice looking in general!
animation isn’t quite sakuga-tier, but it’s still more fluid than in most action anime!
it makes good use of muted colors (both warm & cool tones) as well, with nice backgrounds to boot!
plus the characters are drawn / rendered quite well~ (the CGI isn’t too bad either (i.e. dragons), aside from distance shots of people moving)
In terms of character development, Rose was definitely a main focus this season (in comparison to Alisha last season)
hell, most of the plot for the show’s first half (or more) was driven by her character arc!
we really get to see Rose change her mentality for the better, plus learn more about her past and explore her bond w/ Dezel!
speaking of Dezel, he ended up being a really entertaining guy himself (plus a good partner in crime for Rose~)
he had good development as well (along w/ his personality that grew on me over time), making it even sadder when he dies in episode 23 ;~;
Alisha doesn’t have as much screen time during that first half or so, but she definitely has her contributions in the second half~
she even gets her own armitization forms, which apparently weren’t in the games! \o/
During Rose’s character / story arc, Sorey had a good clash of ideals w/ Rose, which was interesting to see
It helped give him a new perspective, even if it didn’t change his ideals much in the end
Oh yeah, Zaveid *finally* came back and became a full-on party member this season! He’s still a cool fighter guy w/o a shirt :P
even then, he didn’t come in until the second half, but he definitely forged some bonds with Dezel (and Alisha too, I think?)
As for everyone else (including supporting cast), they were fine! No major developments, necessarily, but still good to have around
Story time! Like I said in the character section, Rose’s character arc was kind of a story arc in itself, taking up slightly more than the first half!
Even though the “main plot” was in the backseat, I still enjoyed this arc and finally learning about Rose (who we didn’t know much about during S1)
plus it had a tense climax w/ Rose trying to kill the man from her past… it ended sorta anticlimactically, but it wrapped things up regardless
The second half was definitely more skewed towards the main story, since there was the dragon in Ladylake(?), plus the final battle stuff itself
I almost forgot, there’s more Berseria references this time! Thankfully not full episodes this time, but just references for world-building
it sounds like these references though are from endgame stuff, meaning friends of mine playing Berseria had to stop watching to avoid spoilers…
I will say that this show does “the calm before the storm” pretty well, for the most part! Good character interactions + lead-up confrontations
also, considering Sorey is all about purifying everything, it’s fitting we get backstory for the final boss himself in ep. 24
As for the finale… as of when I’m writing this, the final episode hasn’t aired yet, and won’t for another month or so. So all we have for now is ep. 24 as a pseudo-finale...
That episode though was pretty good! It felt like a proper penultimate episode (i.e. the first part of the final fight), ending right on Sorey’s big power-up!
I have good reason to believe that the finale, when it comes out, will have a good sense of conclusion, so I’m not too worried~
I may update this review after that episode comes out, but time will tell if I get around to it ^^;
Overall, ToZX is a very solid fantasy action series! It doesn’t break much new ground, but its execution makes up for it to make an enjoyable experience~
Youjo Senki (Saga of Tanya the Evil) - 7.5 - 8.0 / 10 (C+ / B- )
An enjoyable (and popular!) military action show which centers around a basically evil protagonist! It had some interesting elements to it, but there wasn’t enough of them to go above “meh” status for me :/
art / animation:
Studio NUT is a brand new studio, and this was not a bad first outing for them at all in this department!
the dark and muted color palette helps to realize this war-torn alternate world, along w/ this show’s darker tone
this setting is very heavily inspired by WWI / WWII… *insert Nazi comparison here* (it takes place closer to WWI years, though)
the characters themselves are rendered w/ a slight lean towards realism, but still have cartoonish elements to them
the former characteristic is most notable in the male designs, and the latter is definitely noticeable in the female designs (i.e. big eyes, “pouty” lips, etc.)
animation-wise, it’s nothing to write home about, for the most part.
there were a couple nicely-animated action sequences (w/ the best one being in ep. 11), but other that that, it was mostly standard fare
the CGI, though, is not very good… you don’t see it much, though, so that’s good at least
characters:
sure, there’s a decent sized cast here, but there’s really only one character worth mentioning specifically... and that, of course, is Tanya herself.
she’s ruthless, brutal, heartless, and willing to sacrifice her own to reach her goals… no wonder she’s called “Tanya the Evil!”
her personality (& the idea of the protagonist basically being a VILLAIN) is definitely one reason why this show became popular this season
her backstory adds an interesting layer to the mix too, as she was a heartless company owner in her past life! (plus she retains her memories from said life)
seeing what actions she would take next (or how she’d react to certain situations) was a big appeal for this show too
not to mention she has to “pray” to the very thing she hates in order to launch attacks w/ her gun >:3
oh yeah, I liked Serebryakova, the girl who was Tanya’s right hand girl!
Her cheery personality was a good foil for Tanya’s, plus she’s voiced by Saori Hayami~
there’s also those military officers / strategists, I guess
aside from Erich, who had the most suspicions about Tanya, the others just felt like… generic military guys :/
story:
the premise sets up Tanya, an evil corporate boss in her past life, in a war-torn world where she must fight in the military!
it’s all about Tanya trying to get revenge against God / “Being X”, and dis-prove its existence…!
this battle of ideals / wits was the most interesting of the show for me; my interest went up whenever Being X (or anything related) showed up
Being X not having a set form, and only showing up through possession of other things / people was a cool concept too!
however, I felt like we didn’t see enough of this aspect in the show… so it felt like a generic military show, most of the time :/
any plot points that didn’t relate to the Being X overarching plot (or Tanya herself) didn’t really grab my interest… the military stuff was kinda boring, in that regard
episode 11 was my favorite episode, as it had Tanya duking it out w/ the guy she seemingly killed earlier (plus he had Being X powers!)
I felt like that fight was too short for the buildup we had for it, though… it was a good fight, though!
the finale was definitely more quiet and reflective, but also was pretty open-ended.
Overall, I had a good time with this show; there were interesting ideas in here for sure, but they didn’t get as much focus / screentime as I would’ve liked… That being said, I can see why this show became quite popular! If you like military shows (or shows w/ evil protagonists), give the first 2 episodes a shot and see for yourself~
I also will be writing a Final Impressions post for Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V, which also finished this season! I’ll update this post with the link when it’s done~

Module 7
Malcom X’s “The Ballot or the Bullet” – I appreciate the prologue on religion differences and how though their practice is different and may be conflicted over, the true conflict that needs to be united over despite differences is the overall oppression black people are experiencing under the white men in power. It is immediately stated right after that it does not mean that they are anti – white, but that they are anti-exploitation, anti-degradation, and anti-oppression. If white men don’t want to see it as them then they should stop exploiting, degrading, and oppressing. 1964 was only a few years before my parents were born. This illuminates the reality of post slavery oppression that continues to today. I have heard before of Malcolm X’s opinion on voting. What I am understanding is that he considers voting as a waste because their vote will give them nothing in return because the system is not in their favor and is under means to oppress them. I haven’t heard of a dixiecrat before.
W.E.B. DuBois’ “Strivings of the Negro People” – 1897 – I can compare the oppressed question that DuBois is given of “How does it feel to be a problem” to being persisted to today with people of color and specifically and almost identically to the book “How does it feel to be a problem” by Moustafa Bayoumi on being young and Arab in America. I had to google shades of the prison-house and it took me to a poem called “Immitations of Immorality.” He recounts the double consciousness and struggle of being black and an American. DuBois states over 50 years before Malcolm does “The power of the ballot we need in sheer self-defense, and as a guarantee of good faith.” To quote “there is to-day no true American music but the sweet wild melodies of the Negro slave; the American fairy tales are Indian and African; we are the sole oasis of simple faith and reverence in a dusty desert of dollars and smartness.” Is this contributing to the truths of music / stories being sourced from African Americans but not given the rightful accountability or profits?
Frantz Fanon’s “Reciprocal Bases of National Culture and the Fight for Freedom” – 1959 – The whole first paragraph lends to a lot of information on colonialism, disrupting and conquering people, a cultural obliteration that is over simplified. Occupying power and banishing natives and systematically enslaving. Fences and signposts being an basic factor. Brings me to reflect on the start of property and claiming land just by fencing it off. Can be compared to the idea of walls that are a buzz of today. “The poverty of the people, national oppression and the inhibition of culture are one and the same thing.” And “Colonial exploitation, poverty and endemic famine drive the native more and more to open, organised revolt.” Then it goes into literature and colonialism and the different narratives and consciousness and national consciousness.
Stokely Carmichael’s “From Black Power to Pan-Africanism” – the listen is different from the read, but in the listen he states, “Brothers and sisters” uniting being African in America because there is unity from America’s history of all being stolen and brought to America and experiencing the same struggles and oppressions under slavery and post slavery. He is calling the fighting an extended war that America. Revolution relying on truth and justice. The read delves into many critical comparisons with pan Africanism, Malcolm x, Marxism-Leninism, Muhammad Ali getting paid substantially less, and continued consequences under capitalism.
Melvin B. Tolson’s “Dark Symphony” – “Thorns of greed on labors brow” and “Black slaves singing” their verses give visualization to the words. These rhymes remind me of what DuBois was talking about with original music / stories being sole from African Americans. The poem is expresses the grim, bloody, and pain. “Barricades of Jim Crowism” and calling to advance past.
Amiri Baraka’s “Black Dada Nihilismus” - *May I just add I really appreciate the audio reads* There is low New York Art Quartet music playing in the background with Baraka in the recording. The website gives highlighted words with given definitions are very useful. It is explained that Baraka doesn’t actually want the gruesome stated lines to be true, but the gruesomeness needs to be accounted for to understand / hear the narrative that is given a shy eye when black people have been systemically fallen victim to the gruesome. It stated in the side bar “The New York Times critiqued the song for its violent imagery, specifically in these lines. The article goes on to describe Baraka’s “highly-political avant-garde” as a “call for black revolutionaries to rape and murder in the service of liberation.” I don’t think they understand.
three poems by Aimé Cesaire – To the Serpent – A little hard to read, searching for the right animal to adore then it gets to the serpent. “God gives not you hold supremely.” And “Serpent delirium and peace” going to how the serpent is a threat and that though “threat a sagacious hand that does not pardon cowards” I do not quite understand this poem or what it may be critically analyzed to be compared to. There may be euphemisms beyond my awareness. It sounds a little religious mentioning the fig and altar.
At the Locks of the Void -  This poem is more understandable than To the Serpent. There is more imagery and metaphors. There are a lot of comparisons. Cesaire is giving full amounts of detail to the text. Things that stick out to me are thirst, hunger, blood, disease, graphic, religion, and Europe. “Europe, eminent name of the turd”
Forfeiture – This poem is interesting. Closing with the line, “ay I am standing and in the sole whiteness that men have never recognized in me.” But preceding this includes mentioning genitalia, gruesome descriptions involving urine, snakes, the planets, and earth.
“Bread” by Kamau Brathwaite – I do not understand this poem. The lines touch a little on a realistic bread “adding water” or kneading.  But I do not understand what the words are making around it. The ending states “rolled into night into night w/out morning rolled into dead into dead w/out vision rolled into life into life w/out dream” which I think is comparing the rolling of bread to these. I will search for a guide / explanation to this poem.
Decolonising the Mind by Ngugi Wa Thiong’o – Language and Culture. I remember in class talking about how language should be saved and continued through natives. I think written language differentiated from spoken language was also conversed about of importance. Like how Ngugi states him and his family speaking Gi kuyH in the fields and at home and the importance of telling and retelling stories. After some schooling with his native language, colonizing and nationalism had the schools taken over to formal English education. Because of the declaration of a state of emergency over Kenya in 1952, others had to “bow” before English in differences involving corporal punishment for using native Gi kuyH.
excerpt from Aimé Cesaire on Negritude – a revolt against the European feeling of superiority and the result of an active and attitude of the mind on the offense. Stating to refuse oppression and to be against inequality. The system to revolt against is “characterized by a certain number of prejudices, of assumptions which generate a very strict hierarchy” For Africa to forward on from colonialism.
Jean Michel Basquiat paintings – I really enjoy his art. I believe I have been exposed to Aaron Douglas’ Birth of the blues before or at least its color scheme style may have been used as inspiration elsewhere. I did a project on an artist Chris Ofili who also uses culture and music aspects in his art similarly.
“The Radiant Child” by Rene Ricard – On tags, graffiti, rapping. “Graffiti refutes the idea of anonymous art where we know everything about a work except who made it” therefore comes the tag. As talked about in class, Basquait’s was “SAMO”.
material on Aaron Douglas: - a part of the “New Negro Movement” or “Harlem Renaissance.” Used silhouette forms in a friezed format, is this like a “freeze” or paused picture? The commotion in his art does look like a paused moment. Aspiration itself shows many chained hands all paused in an upward reaching moment.
YouTube playlist of Black political music – The variety in this playlist is very wide. With Billie Holiday, Kendrick Lamar, NWA, Beyonce, Sun Ra Jazz, Sam Cooke and many more.
On NWA – I’ve heard Fuck The Police, Seen Ice Cube in the family movie “Are We There Yet” and in 21 Jump street, Heard Dr.Dre with some 2000’s hits but that just might be all I know. Reading into the socially conscious rap I perceive the wave returning and persisting with Kendrick Lamar, Vic Mensa, and Beyonce to “expose the truth” as well.
Fela Kuti – Lagos Nigeria, in the 70’s created the bold Afrobeat music. A style and movement inspired by the Black Panthers and Malcolm X, voiced anger and protest against military rulers and corrupt oil industry. Music for revolution.
Amiri Baraka articles – Diz, or Dizzy Gilliespie, the late 40’s to 60’s music to Sun Ra with Afro American Jazz with Brazilian Samba styles, Pan American Funk, and orchestras making music that drives itself and transforms.
Music & black – the Black Power playlist shows substantial music that is meant for revolution and exposing the truth on an artistic platform. With the political messages in soul, funk, and jazz  this music expressed problems that need accountability and change.
