“Focus on your work Weasley” Snape smacked George Weasley’s head with the book he was holding, causing the whole class to look at his direction.
George was already an easily distracted person to begin with. but today especially, he got his mind somewhere else.
He was looking at you and his twin brother Fred, giggling while trying to figure out snape’s task. All of his life he never thought that he would feel this much jealously towards the older twin. Sure, sometimes it bothers him a bit that people pay more attention to him, or the fact that people always refers them as “Fred & George”, not “George & Fred”. But he knew it’s a silly thing to be bothered about so he always managed to brush it off.
But not today, Fred had been assigned with you. The girl George met on his last solo trip to honeydukes. It shocked him how he never saw you around before, despite being in the same house and grade. But hes glad that he met you. George didn’t like to be cheesy, but he was so sure that you were made for him. Whenever youre around, he just felt so happy. You’re funny, kind, and on top of all you’re prettiest thing he ever seen. Sadly, for him, other people seems to think that way about you.
He introduced you 2 weeks ago to his brother and friends. You seem to get along great with everyone. He liked that, his brother and friends is everything for him. But he cant help it but feeling a little bit jealous. He didn’t wanna admit it but this jealously is most probably because he was insecure about his feeling for you. Before everything he was sure that you fancy him the same way he fancies you. But now, hes not sure. And he hated it, youre supposed to be his girl.
The class that felt so long was finally over. George quickly stood up, walking towards the common room. he just want to burry his face onto his bed now. He felt an arm linking his. “Hey you” it was you. He let out a big sigh, not knowing how to feel right now.
“Hey, did you have a good time today?” He hated how catty he sounded. Knowing you, he knew you wouldn’t able to tell.
“Yeah it was fun. Your brother is hilarious you know that?” He rolled his eyes, feeling his face getting hot.
“Well yeah hes a clown” George answered shortly. Wanting you both could just drop this conversation. He didn’t like this, being jealous of his twin brother.
“ahah yeah true, youre also funny too you know” You leaned your head onto Georges arm. At this point it was hard for him to not just pulls you into a big hug. “Whats your plan for the rest of the day?” You asked looking up on him.
“Im not sure, probably just sleep” George answered looking down to you. You looked so cute leaning on to him.
“Wanna have a study date? Snape’s test tomorrow right?” George’s ears perked up at the word date.
A smile creeps on his face. “Yeah sure”
“Brilliant! I’ll see you in 2 hours then!” You gave his arm a squeeze before you go. Leaving George all smiley by himself.
2 hours later, George found himself getting ready for his study date. He finally going to make a move on you. Its obvious that you fancy him now right? At least you were the one who refers their study session as a study date.
He tried to look around for Fred but he was nowhere to be found. He feels weird do anything without asking for the older brother’s advice. But it was time to go to meet you at the Library and he didn’t want to make you wait, so he just decided to cross his fingers and hope for the best.
“Hey” George greeted you, big smile on his face. You look up at him from the book you were reading, smiling back at him. “You got a lot of stuff here” He sat down beside you, looking at paper and pens in front of him.
“Oh its not mine” You answered. “So, do you have anything you’re particularly struggling with?”
Whilst you tried your best to explain the things that he was struggling with. George was doing his best to stay focus on what youre saying instead of you. He cant help but admire your face, your cheeks, your lips. He wonders how would it feel like you press his lips against yours.
“Are you listening to me George?” You asked, knowing the answer pretty well.
“Uh yeah, im sorry I got distracted” he blinked.
You brought your hand on to his head, messing with his red hair. “you’ve been a bit distracted these days. didn’t you got smacked on your head earlier today by Snape?” you chuckled a bit running your fingers on the back of his head. “Did it hurt?” You tilted her head closer to him, rubbing the back of his head.
He couldn’t seem to think straight at this point. The fact that youre so close to him right now, he could smell your scent. He took a deep breath trying to be brave and make a move. He put his hand on top of yours, pulling it away from his head. “Y/N..” He started, linking his fingers with yours. “I think I like you”
“Yeah?” You chuckled feeling. your cheeks starting to get warm. “Whats going on George? Why are you suddenly so serious?”
“Well, Im not sure how you feel about me. But I got nothing to lose so here I am. I like you” Surprised by his words, you didn’t say anything. So he thought he could just make a move then. He leaned in closer to you getting you lips closer to each other. Not knowing what to do you just close your eyes. He smiled, taking this as a greenlight to proceed his act. Until all of the sudden-
“Your tea is here!!” Fred walked in, causing them to pull away from each other. “Hey that’s my seat George, do you not see the stuffs on the table?” He said as he sat down filling the gap between You and George.
“Fred what are you doing here?” George asked, clearly  frustrated with the situation.
“That’s not how you greet people, my dear brother” He said handing you the tea he was talking about. “Besides, youre not the only one who got invited to this study group. Right Y/N?” You just nod at him feeling flustered, thinking about what could’ve happened if Fred didn’t just walk in.
The next day, George has been avoiding you since last night. He thought you guys shared the same feeling. But yesterday proved him wrong. He was just another friend to you
Snape’s exam was a group work, being Fred’s partner obviously made you work with him for the exam. You looked so happy, George wishes it was him working with you instead of his twin brother. He hated this so much, it’s ridiculous how jealous he felt towards his twin brother right now.
The exam’s finally over, George saw you coming up to him from the corner of his eyes. “Hey” you greeted him. “Wanna go to Three Broomstick later? I haven’t really seen you all week”
“Who’s coming?” He asked, hoping this time its just the two of you. And everything that he thought about last night wasn’t true.
“Uh everyone. Fred, Lee, Angelina and others im not sure” George snickered. How stupid of him to think that you wanna be alone with him. How stupid of him to think he got a chance with you.
“I think im gonna pass on that” he took a deep breath. “Im tired. Ill see you around” He left you dumb folded, walking away towards his room.
The night comes around. The common room feels empty, his friends had left him for Three Broomstick. George just chilling alone on his bed when he heard someone opened the door.
“George?” You walked towards him, sitting at the end of his bed “Hey, im just.. I just wanna make sure everything is okay”
“Why you here” George answered bitterly. “Arent you suppose to be out with your friends, with my brother?”
“Well yeah but I wanna check up on you. And talk about last night..”
“What do you wanna talk about Y/N?” He took a deep breath. “I already get it, you see me as a friend. If anything, you like Fred more than me. I get it don’t worry. Everyone always picks him over me, im used to it”
“George…” you scotched in closer too him, trying to stop him from rambling all these nonsenses.
“Im not even sure why I thought you like me, he is the better twin. Im just me. I just thought I have a chance with you. Throughout my life, ive always get hands down from my siblings, share with my siblings.” He realised how ridiculous he sounded but it didn’t stop him. “I love how you get along with my friends. But, i just thought, I thought youre my person. Finally someone I can proudly say mine. I thought you feel the same way as I do…” Georges voice was getting quitter when he felt your hand grabbing his. “I like you a lot and I get that you don’t feel the same way. So if youre coming here to explain that i-“
His words were cut off by your lips crashing to his. “You never let me speak Georgie”  You murmured against his lips “I don’t know how you got it all wrong” you kissed his cheek lightly. “I didn’t know you felt that way. George. I like you, im your person. Ive always been“
With a big smile he pulled in for another kiss. He held on to your waist pulling you closer to him, positioning you onto his lap. You threw your and around his neck, deepening the kiss whilst his hands lazily griped your waist.
You can feel something poking between the inner part of your legs. With a slight smile you press your legs more on to him, grinding it against him. Earning a low groan from him.
He held your hips down on him, so both of you can feel more of the friction. His lips travelled to your jaw and to the back of your neck. You could feel his hot breath, sending shivers down your spine as he moved his lips closer to your ears. “Prove it” OKAY SO Let me know if you want a part 2 smut off of this HAHAH.
hehe part 2
this was quite hard to write cos i feel bad for him ahaha. this is loosely based on a true story. but i never got my Y/N :’)

Loki x Reader
1989, chapter 2
"There once was a girl known by everyone and no one"
Summary: It's hard to find the one, but even if you do find him it's always going to be a daily struggle to make it work. Can you even make it work after he broke your heart? The answer to that is complicated, but it all started when you found each other again in the stark tower- and that's where our story begins.
Word count: 4,864
Warnings: medium level angst I guess, and language as always.
A/N: writing this was challenging and I complained about this for like half of my mutuals lol. However, I did find the perfect song to mix with the title track obv and it was perfect to show their past. You will learn more about their past in future chapters.
A/N: thanks to @chrissquares for making me beautiful dividers especially for this series and @nacho-bucky for beta reading it all! A reminder to check out the song before reading/during!
No one is allowed to repost my writing or steal or copy my work! Reblog on tumblr is fine.

"You know him? Y/N, why didn't you tell us?" Steve scolded you as you sat in one of the rooms, in front of him, Natasha, Thor, and Tony. This felt more like an interrogation than a talk.
"Is this an interrogation?" you looked him dead in the eyes, you saw him falter.
"It doesn't have to be if you don't lie to us again."
"I never lied to you."
"You held back information." Natasha said then.
"Fine, yes I know him, I knew him." You sighed, remembering the night you met him, before everything went wrong.
You were walking through the park in the night, was it dangerous? Of course, but you needed to clear your head. That was when you saw him, sitting on a bench in the rain. He was different, you knew that the minute you noticed him- it wasn't even the weird attire he wore, but rather the feeling that came along with him, you didn't feel threatened and you have mace in your bag, so you approached him.
"You will get a cold if you keep sitting in the rain, don't you have an umbrella?" he looked at you and you got shivers from his blue eyes.
"No, I will be fine. Thank you my lady for your concern." God was his voice enchanting. Curiousity got the better of you then.
"You saw him on earth and you didn't say anything? He is not allowed to be here." Tony said, his fingers fidgeting with his cuffs.
"I knew him long before the invasion happened, it wasn't near the time when I became an avenger, or on shield's radar at all." You tried to explain yourself to them. You never lied to then, you never thought you'd see him again especially in the tower. "Look it is all in the past, there is no reason to talk about it."
"You were mad when you saw him, why was that?" Natasha glanced at you, you knew she would read you if you lied.
"Well, I knew him for a while. But he is the god of lies, I don't like being lied to. So that says it all." You shrugged it off.
"So you won't tell me where you're from?"
"I told you, I'm from England."
"No you're not, you're a pretty lousy liar you know?" you smirked at his taken aback look.
"I think you'd be surprised."
"Nope, I can already tell- you're a bad liar. Or you might be good, but I'm better." He gave you a curious look as the rain kept falling around you, the umbrella you were both sitting under protected you.
"He never mentioned you, or going to earth at all. When was this?" Thor asked you.
"Around 2009" it was so long ago, you now realized, but it still felt close to you.
"You should take my umbrella." You suggested to the man but he just laughed as you sat beside him. "What? You said that you need to go, and I live closer than you, I'll be just fine without it, the thunder doesn't scare me."
"I am not quite fond of it actually. But you should get home, it is getting late." He smiled at you and you got up.
"Let's make a trade then, you will take my umbrella" the two of you stood now. "And you will give me your name."
He eventually took the umbrella with a smile, his fingers were cold when they lightly brushed yours, and you went your separate ways.
"You have no reason not to trust me, I never saw him again after 2011!" you just wanted them to understand that it is all behind you.
"I never said I don't trust you, but kid why would you hide this from us?" Steve asked you, you were pretty close, he was kind of like a protective older brother to you- ironic since he is pretty reckless and Bucky is saner than him, but he cared about you.
"It isn't important Steve, he is a liar that isn't new to any of us. It's nothing personal or important anymore."
"Kid it seems pretty personal-" Tony started to say.
"Well it's not!"
"Okay fine, but just know that he will be here for a while until we figure out and deal with this hydra shit. Then after that Point Break over here will take him away." Tony was sincere now, you could see the worry in his eyes, you knew he was affected by the invasion the most. "So take my advice, and make sure that it really isn't personal."
You nodded to him.
"You are however more than welcome to throw him in a little nightmare, I'll pay you." He smiled and you chuckled.
"What are you saying Stark? My lady," oh you haven't heard that in a while. Fuck. "Do not give my brother nightmares, however you plan on doing that." He looked you up and down, and it was as if you could read him like an open book, you didn't have to use any of your powers because you already knew exactly what he thought in his head.
"I'll stay away from him. Just make sure he does the same."
You looked innocent, not harmful, the kind of girl you would offer help to with even the smallest stuff- a good girl. That's what they all saw before getting to know you, and maybe that was you before you got these dark powers, you knew you missed the old you but you could barely remember her.
"Are you certain that's what they said?" Natasha asked you from the kitchen table as you made her pancakes.
"I know, it sounds weird but it's Asgardian, they have weird names. Plus I doubt they were lying, they were sleep deprived and I can assure you they have been through a lot of stuff before I started to actually talk to them. Ready?" you looked back at her and she nodded.
You threw the pancake back and by the small 'yay' Natasha let out, you didn't have to turn back to know she caught it with her plate.
"Well, I think I'll go and make them write it down because I am certain we are pronouncing it incorrectly."
"Well I tried! Their accent didn't help at all!" you defended yourself.
"You're still pronouncing it wrongly." You froze, turning around to look at Loki and Thor who walked towards the kitchen. "One would think it was made up by how horribly you ruined the word. How would you know they were truthful after all? What could you have possibly done?"
You held his gaze before deciding to not retort back, you ignored that curious familiar look. He has some nerve to talk. You sat in front of Natasha with your own batch of pancakes, the room was quiet before Thor chimed in to break the tension.
"Are those the cakes from the pan? Oh they are tasty! Would you mind making me and my brother some, Lady Y/N?" Thor was actually nice, how could you say no?
"Of course!" you got up with a smile. "Oh, but I'm afraid there isn't enough batter for the two of you I'm afraid."
You let a small frown take over your face, and you saw Natasha's small smile when you turned to make Thor some pancakes.
"You are a bad liar." Loki pointed out and you didn't have to think.
"I fooled you." Soon enough you turned around to give Thor his pancakes with a smile, pouring the rest of the batter in the sink before sitting down to eat. "Oh and Thor, this is the second warning about what we discussed yesterday, I won't hesitate."
"Very well, however you never did tell me what-"
"It's not important." Thor glared at his brother.
"Brother please be more civil, it's for your benefit." You felt Loki's gaze on you as you ate.
"Do tell me brother, how is it for my benefit?" Loki chuckled.
"Well, you have wronged a lot of people here, and so lady Y/N agreed to not harm you if you stay away. We are here to help my friends!" Thor's booming voice alongside his hopeful smile contrasted his brother's.
You should have known he would test it.
"Oh, and how can she harm me now?" the minute Loki uttered these words you glanced at him for a moment, and the next thing he knew, his heart beat loudly as he fell down from the portal in New York, terrified when he saw the Chitauri around him, one monster opened its mouth and Loki was a moment from dying in its clutches when he heard Thor's voice.
"Enough!" Thor said sternly and Loki was back in the kitchen, disoriented as he took in his surroundings. You only nodded at Thor before you kept eating. Loki disappeared a moment later with a green shimmer.
"I don't like using my powers Thor, but if you care for your brother keep him civil." You said, sorry that Thor had to get offended by it too.
"I understand, but he is here to help right now, mere comments are the least harmful things he could do, there is no need to take it to heart." He put a hand on your shoulder and it was warm enough to get you to agree with him. Stopping hydra should be your top priority.
"I hate it when he does that." Tony groaned at the marking on the ground just outside of the compound.
Thor and Loki were now back at the palace gates, they heard a call, and Loki turned to see Iyllir walking up to him. She smiled at him and he smiled back, grateful for the lack of observant eyes to tell his fake smiles apart from the real ones.
"Prince Loki, what took you so long? You missed our picnic." The lady put her arm through his and he heard his brother snicker.
"How unfortunate. My brother and I still have very urgent business to tend to. I must go to a court meeting now." Loki gently tugged his hand out of hers.
"I thought you said this won't take long?" she frowned at him. She certainly was beautiful, with red hair and grey eyes, always majestic like a lady, and yet he couldn't follow both of their families' wishes.
"Well I am afraid things have changed, I won't stay here for long this visit." With that he went and followed his brother towards the big doors that opened for them and he saw Odin there alongside trusted advisers and of course- the warriors three. And then the meeting began.
Loki sat in his chair, bored as they talked about the mortals.
"Father, I can assure you that as of now there is no need in sending Asgardian forces there. My friends are handling it well now." Thor explained to his father and Loki couldn't help but get distracted.
"Let me help you, Y/N" he asked you, chuckling and biting his lip when you glared at him.
"I can handle it Loki!" you said as you tried to handle the pile of books in your hands so you could get the key for your apartment. He was thankful that you couldn't see his face now as he watched you struggle to balance the books on your thigh.
You let out a small shriek as the books fell out and were about to hit the floor when they just stopped midair, and you looked at Loki only to see him leaning on the wall, arms crossed with a smug smile on his face.
"I bet you liked my help now." You groaned.
"Yes thank you and your stupid magic Loki." You leaned down to pick up the books and stack them again after opening your door.
"If I remember correctly you were, oh what's the word- petrified when you first saw my magic"
"That is a big exaggeration! I was just a bit… startled maybe." You walked into the apartment and he closed the door behind you when you suddenly stopped, turning to him with an annoyed shocked expression, your mouth agape and your eyes wide and not amused. "You knocked my books down!"
You were met with a mischievous grin.
"You hurt my feelings darling, do you have any proof?" you huffed out a breath.
"You are insufferable!"
"You seem to manage so far."
"From what I gathered so far, the group called Hydra there seemed to have a hold of some old weapons of ours, nothing too big yet but we are looking into it to find out if there is more stuff we don't know about."
"And do you really think the mortals can handle this?" Odin asked the brothers.
"Yes father, they are very powerful." Loki couldn't help but agree with Thor, they really did manage to surprise him this time. He never expected her.
"What is this A children's playground? Stop pulling your punches and fight me." You grunted as you tried hitting Bucky again, you've been too distracted lately, your training didn't go too well and you ended up on the mat more often than not. At this point you considered just using your powers to make it seem like you're winning but now you were fighting Bucky, and from the day you met him you swore to yourself that you will never use your powers on him. He doesn't need anyone messing with his mind again.
So long story short you were getting your ass handed to you.
"I'm not a supersoldier may I remind you, so I'm sorry if I am a little tired! Bucky come on let's take a break." You ducked another punch.
"Maybe your mind just isn't with us right now." Natasha helpfully provided as she sat on the side with a smoothie.
"Fuck off."
"No, really, what is your deal with Loki?" at his mention you delivered a kick to Bucky that made him fall on the mattress with a thud.
"Nothing. Is this good enough for you now Bucky?" you reached out a hand to help him up.
"Now that we got you riled up about him, yes- let's go again." He laughed at the glare you gave him. Your jaw clenched as the two of you got into position.
"Bring it on, Barnes." He went in with his left arm now.
"I will, how did you know him? It certainly looks pretty personal and in-" you turned him around and pinned him to the ground.
"Shut up, just fight me." You heard Natasha laugh beside you and in that moment Bucky took advantage and got you on the ground instead. And you went back.
"What the fuck!" you screamed when you saw the figure in your room, Loki stood there, his face scrunched up.
"Sorry, my love."
"We talked about this Loki, you can't just teleport here- especially when I am sleeping!" you sighed when you saw his regretful face. "Don't stand there like a creep, come here I missed you."
He smiled and you closed your eyes, you still saw the green light that lit up the room when he changed his clothes and got under the covers with you. His hand was cold, making your skin prickle but it was worth it when he pulled you to him and the warmth spread between the two of you.
You fell asleep content with a smile on your face at the kisses he laid on your neck.
"Y/N?"
"What?" you looked up at Bucky who sat back on his heels, his brow was raised.
"You kind of spaced out, you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm- I'm fine. I probably should go though." you got up. "Bruce probably needs help in the lab."
"You did not tell father about lady Y/N." Thor stated the obvious.
"Don't call her that. Why would I do that? She is of no import." Loki walked towards his chambers, but alas Thor decided to escort him there with preying questions.
"How did none of us know that you spent time in Midgard?" Thor stopped Loki with a hand on his shoulder.
"That was a long time ago brother."
"And yet it seems that you have quite a history, what happened between the two of you? Were the two of you…?" Thor trailed off and Loki groaned.
"Don't insinuate that, there wasn’t anything. We knew each other for a while and then we didn't. Now, if you will excuse me, I'll go to my room. Alone."
Loki shut the door behind him, in his mind he still saw you and your eyes and then the flashes of the battle of New York. The day was tiring; he decided to get some much needed rest, to get you out of his mind.
The day was exhausting; he had to stay back in Asgard. He couldn't put up illusions all the time, it was taking a toll on him, but it was worth it in his eyes.
The palace was now quiet as everybody went to sleep. Loki wanted to rest too, so he snuck out towards the bifrost. Heimdall had already seen him coming, and was ready to open the way.
"Are you going to keep going to her every night, my prince?" Heimdall asked him and Loki let out a smile.
"Yes. Thank you, truly for keeping this a secret for so long." Heimdall only nodded at him.
"If you are going to keep sneaking out to see her, someone will end up seeing you sometime." Heimdall stepped down and came to Loki. "I think I should show you another way to pass through the realms, I think you are mad enough in love for it to work for you."
When Heimdall showed him the way, he thanked him sincerely, it looked impossible at first but soon enough he was there in your room. You already fell asleep. He watched your figure as you rested, your state of calmness washed over him, and then you suddenly screamed at him, maybe he should have tried to wake you sooner, it didn't exactly matter to him much when just a few moments later he was curled up in the warmest bed he'd ever known.
"So you see, this part here it seems to be controlled by the holder of the gun, that must be the Asgardian tech combined with our own." Bruce told you as you gently examined the weapon.
"Damn, how long do you think they had that then? Like, just the time that it took them to develop it…" you thought. There were probably much worse things out there at their hands.
"I'd say at least a couple of months. It's a shame about those scientists." He hesitated to say that and you knew why.
"I didn't know they had that, no one checked their teeth. I was doing my job. It's okay, you can talk about it." You shrugged it off. With a power like yours, you have to get used to using it, you must fit yourself to it… because it certainly won't happen the other way around. But you were fine. You were different now.
Right?
"Well, next time we will check their teeth, to make sure this won't repeat itself. But at least we got some information before that's good right?" you nodded to Bruce and took out the bullets from one of the guns. There was something red, or was it orange, inside it. You examined it closer, moving towards the microscope to try to see for yourself before you ask Bruce about it.
Curiousity killed the cat.
Before you could reach the table, there was a warm sensation in your hand where you held it and then all you knew was that your hand hurt and you hit the floor, the bullet exploding with whatever was in it. Maybe you should've worn gloves.
Oh well, satisfaction resurrected it.
"Bruce, did you see that?"
"Yes Y/N, are you okay?"
"My head hurts but I'm fine, did you know those bullets do that?" you got up a little too fast for Bruce and your head's liking, but you went to the table nevertheless.
"No, they were fine before, you shouldn't have touched them," he fussed around.
"But I saw something-"
"You need to ice your head, tell me or Cho if you feel anything weird. This isn't something we know about Y/N." he handed you an ice pack for your head and told you to sit down, to which you grumbled but obeyed.
"Ah, Y/N, F.R.I.D.A.Y has been telling me that you've been trying to blow up the lab." Tony laughed at you as he entered.
"No, I would never try to steal your job." You shot back and he winked.
"Okay Elsa, I thought you'd like to know that we managed to make sense of some of the files we found in the warehouse and it looks like they have been making trades and dividing what they found."
"What do you mean?" Bruce asked him.
"That place we found was only dedicated to create a couple of things, but they have more out there, dedicated to building who knows what." Tony groaned, "We will need to divide and conquer this, we can't waste time and there is no way I am letting those Asgardian warriors come here. Don't blow things up kiddo!" you nodded to him, things were getting worse by the minute. You pressed your hand holding the ice pack harder against the back of your head. You were not looking forward to tomorrow, so you kept Bruce company until you were too tired to push it any longer. You went to bed and magically managed to convince Bruce to go to sleep.
You woke up groaning, you apparently forgot to close the blinds the night before. Going back to sleep will only cause you to oversleep, which will cause Steve to activate the stupid alarm protocol Tony built for him after you annoyed him.
You did not want to wake up to old Captain America songs blasting your ears off.
So you got up and after a short breakfast you reluctantly got on with your duties and important paperwork.
"Miss Y/L/N, you called me? I'm Mike, you asked for an analysis check on some data?" you turned to him then from looking at the board in the small conference room.
"Yes! Hi Mike, thank you. We have some encryptions that probably lead to very specific locations, check radars of isolated places or you know what- scratch that, they could be under our nose in the middle of a city." You looked at him apologetically. "Sorry, I can't narrow it down but we do need those answers as soon as possible. Okay?"
The poor guy looked horrified, his brown eyes were wide and you let out a small sorry when you handed him the big file.
"Yeah, of course Y/N, I will get right to it." With that you were alone in the room once again, going over the information you managed to get from the now dead scientists. This is going to be a long day. You saw it coming and that didn't help at all.
"Oh fuck." You cursed when the cold water from the sink touched your palm, it wasn't badly burned but it still hurt you.
You closed the door to your bathroom and turned around to see him standing in your room. Your eyes locked with blue ones, they certainly were familiar even after all this time, but while you could see the hesitation and the other swirling emotions in his eyes you couldn't tell anymore if you could trust what you thought you knew.
"When?" you felt your blood boil, but you knew you couldn't avoid him forever.
"Sometime after-" you hesitated with your words, walking towards your cabinet to put away the first aid kit you had. "After." You settled with that.
"What are you doing here Y/N?" Loki heard his own heartbeats, seeing you here… After all this time and he never forgot you. How could he?
"I'm an avenger now Loki," his name felt bitter on your tongue and you had to swallow to continue. "A lot has changed you know, you don't need to ask all these questions. There is no point to them."
"Oh but there is," at his angry tone you turned around. It was years of bottling the fight that you never had, he never let you have it. "You never wanted this life Y/N! What are you doing fighting out there with heroes or whatever they like to call themselves?"
"They are heroes, they help people. You however seemed to do the opposite from what I remember seeing on the TV." You laughed and shook your head. "I was still there you know, I was right in that same apartment where you left me. And there I saw you on the TV and I didn't even recognize it was you."
"Did you get hurt?" the question startled you.
"No, but it doesn't matter Loki! I am fighting alongside heroes now, I changed since the last time I saw you, this is my place now!"
"Oh darling you can pretend all you want in front of them, but I still know you." He matched your stare now. "This is not your life."
"Well yes it is!" you shook your head when he got closer now, every emotion you never got to express came back to the surface. "Why are you here? Huh? You're the one who left in the first place!"
"I've come here to help-" you stomped up to him.
"You know damn well that is not what I asked." You hated how your voice wavered.
"I did come here to help with the weapons," he continued before you could try to intervene. "And I didn't expect to see you again. But you're here now, and so am I."
"Damnit Loki, we have been through so much together, we weren't dating for only a month or two. A year. We were dating for more than a year and that is a lot." The tears were brimming now when you remembered your theory, that one little theory that ate your heart out, this one theory you found only a few days after. "Or at least here it is. Maybe in Asgard with all the almost-immortal gods a year is insignificant to you- that sure explains it all."
"No, it's not!" he dismissed it immediately and you felt your defenses shattering when he walked towards you. "I know there's pain inside of you, which was caused by me. But I am here now and I can't deny that I can still feel what I felt all those years ago. Just hear me out, we can call it even, just for a little while."
The last time you played this game it left you with a nasty scar. The more that he said, the less you knew what to think anymore.
So you didn't.
You hated the calmness that took over you the moment his lips touched yours, tongue sliding over the other, it left you breathless. You knew it was still love for you, but it was torture, you knew the high will not be worth the pain but he felt too good, too familiar that it made you question that. You didn't know how long has passed, all you knew was Loki, you still fit perfectly with his body which was pressed against you. Time flew by and you didn't know how you got here.
One moment his lips were on yours, the next you were pressed into the mattress, his figure pressing on yours. Maybe this could be good for the weekend… the next moment your legs somehow were wrapped around him and pulled him more into you. His lips trailed down to your throat, making breathy moans come out of your mouth. Your eyes opened and were focused on one spot on the ceiling, when you managed to break out of this delusional pleasure time flew by.
"No Loki, stop." You pushed him off of you. You sat up, curling your legs.
"What? Darling-" he tried reaching out for your thigh but you shook your head.
"You should go, Loki." You didn't look at him. Your hand covered your mouth as you sank into thought.
"Go? Why would I go? I know you feel exactly like I do." You couldn't deny it. You both knew that.
"You left me before Loki, what is the problem with leaving me now?" While you couldn't see him now, you had to get him out of here, so you could think clearly. This was too reckless. "It doesn't matter, this was just a relapse."
He left you there, and once the door shut you broke down, hating yourself for drowning into him again. You knew you were the one breaking your own heart when he took his warmth from the now cold bed. But it is better that you'll break it before he ever gets the chance to do it again.

you’re the one that brings the sun; chapter 3/6
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Warnings: None
Notes: I was actually going to post this yesterday but apparently a post limit is a thing, oops. I think that constitutes as me winning the liveblogging. /j
Also, yes I changed Willie’s pronouns because I’ve developed an attachment to he/they Willie :)))
Anyway! Here’s chapter 3, I hope you like it :)))
---
Alex doesn’t quite know when it happened, but the coffee… not-dates, have become a thing. Willie seems to have a sort of sixth sense that just knows when Alex needs coffee and a breath of fresh air. It’s odd, the way they’ve sunk into a routine in just a month and a half. Alex has Willie’s schedule memorized, he knows that Willie likes skating to his classes and that he only has caffeine on Saturdays and that he has a favorite tree he likes to study under. He refuses to admit to himself that Willie seems to know him just as well, from buying him more bandaids when he knows the ones in his fannypack are running low, to calling him and making sure he doesn’t stay up too late studying that one night when Willie was at Caleb’s for the weekend.
Alex has a tendency to stay up late studying, because he has this ridiculous, innate desire to get everything perfect. He supposes it comes from the fact that at one point, he was sure he wouldn’t even be in college, so now that he is, he feels like he has to succeed or his entire everything will come crashing down. So despite the fact that he’s gone over his notes a million times and the only noise is the clock ticking past 2am, he remains glued to the couch, eyes straining to read the page in his history textbook.
“I’m pretty sure you’ve been staring at that page for 30 minutes.” Willie’s standing in the entrance to the living room, smiling, their hair pulled into a loose braid that makes them look soft around the edges. He’s holding a cup of tea in one hand and Alex’s favorite blanket in the other.
Alex looks up, rubbing his eyes blearily. “Hm? Thought you were asleep,” he says, stifling a yawn. He feels a pang of guilt at the thought that he woke Willie up. Willie has a hard enough time falling asleep as it is.
Willie shrugs and moves to sit beside him on the couch, offering him the steaming mug. “I woke up to go to the bathroom and saw the light was still on. Drink the tea, it’s peppermint.”
“Peppermint makes me tired.”
“That’s the whole point.”
Alex eyes the tea suspiciously, but he’s weak for peppermint tea, and Willie knows it. He gives in, sipping it and sighing contentedly. His eyes threaten to flutter shut, and the prospect seems so tempting. “You should go to sleep,” he murmurs.
Willie shakes their head. “Not until you do.” They reach over and shut Alex’s textbook, ignoring his protesting. “You have a 9am class, you need to sleep, hotdog.” Willie’s voice is gentle in the way that makes Alex’s stomach do flips. He tosses the blanket over Alex’s lap, making sure it covers his feet, which are always cold, because anxiety sucks like that.
“I will,” Alex replies indignantly. “I just- I just gotta finish this one thing-” He cuts himself off with a loud yawn and Willie shakes his head knowingly.
“It’s 2am dude, you’re incapable of getting anything done past 1 and we both know it.”
“Not true.”
Willie raises an eyebrow. “Really? C’mon man, all that studying is gonna go to waste if you’re too tired to even take the test. Sleep, now.”
Alex hums in response, too tired to get out another coherent sentence. He supposes it wouldn’t hurt to close his eyes for a few minutes. “Five minutes,” he mumbles. “Then you wake me up.”
“Of course, hotdog,” Willie whispers. His hand hovers just over Alex’s, hesitant. He pulls back before Alex can overthink it, but there’s something hanging heavy in the air.
Alex pulls the blanket up to his chin and half asleep, offers Willie one corner. Willie swallows thickly before carefully taking the blanket and wrapping it around himself, drawing them closer together. If he’d been fully awake, Alex never would’ve done what he did next, letting his head drop unceremoniously onto Willie’s shoulder before drifting off to sleep, lulled by the sound of Willie’s heartbeat. It’s reminiscent of his drums and the way they soothe his anxiety, a steady, warm beat that feels like home. He’s sure that he’s dreaming when he feels Willie’s hand card through his hair, but oh what a lovely dream it is.
Alex wakes up to muffled cursing and the sun shining in his eyes. He blinks the sleep away, noting that the light is coming from the wrong angle and his neck is incredibly sore. The events of the night before come flooding back and he considers holing up in his room and never looking Willie in the eyes again. And yet, despite the mortification of falling asleep on Willie’s shoulder and the cramp in his neck, he feels more rested than he has in weeks.
A sudden crash from the kitchen snaps Alex out of his daydreaming  It takes him a good couple minutes to register that Willie is practically hopping around the kitchen, narrowly avoiding dropping more things on the floor, and he almost smiles at the sight before remembering that Willie has admitted to being a terrible cook and Alex should probably intervene before something gets set on fire.
Alex trudges up to the counter, eyes still heavy with sleep. “What’re you doing?”
Willie looks up and Alex breaks down, laughing so hard his stomach hurts. There’s flour smeared all across Willie’s cheeks and what looks to be milk dripping from their hair and their eyes are wild with panic and laughter. Willie reaches over and pokes Alex’s chest. “Stop it,” they whine, biting their lip to keep from laughing. “I’m trying to make waffles but…” he looks around at the mess in the kitchen and sighs in resignation. “This was a bad idea. The dining hall waffles taste like cardboard, and I would just make pancakes since those are easier, but I know you like waffles better since they have little compartments for the syrup. So I thought y’know, it can’t be that hard, I just need a recipe and a waffle maker. But did you know there are a lot of rules to cooking that are not stated like anywhere? And waffle makers? Not very easy to use. A pain to clean too.”
“Where did you even get a waffle maker?” Alex questions, glancing over at the contraption cautiously.
“That girl from my art history class owed me a favor.”
“The one you gave skateboarding lessons so she could impress her crush? She just has a waffle maker lying around?”
Willie nods. “Yup.”
“And you went all the way over to the girls dorms at-” Alex glances at the clock and subtracts an hour from the current time. “- 7am. So you could borrow her waffle maker?”
“Well when you put it like that…” Willie runs his hands over his face, laughing. “It’s stupid. But uh… I got you coffee?”
“It’s not stupid,” Alex says. “I uh, I think it’s sweet. Really. Just, please don’t try it again, I don’t want the dorm burnt down.” He chuckles lightly and begins toying with his hoodie strings, cheeks slightly pink. “Coffee?”
Willie reaches into the fridge and pulls out a coldbrew. “I didn’t want it to get warm and I didn’t know when you’d wake up, but uh, here.”
Alex takes the coffee and something in his heart bursts just a little bit. “You remembered my coffee order.”
“I mean yea it’s… it’s what you get every time.” Willie scratches the back of their neck, rocking back and forth on his heels anxiously.
“Your memory sucks, dude.” Alex continues to stare at the cup like it’s something from an alien planet. “I- thank you.”
“Yea, yea of course.” Willie smiles softly, sitting next to Alex and nudging his shoulder. “It’s what friends are for.”
“I’m not helping you clean the kitchen.”
“Rude, I hate you.”
---
Alex is fairly sure he didn’t fail his history test, and his professor for his last class of the day had to cancel, so he’s let off early. All in all, satisfactory for a Monday.
It’s a fairly warm day, but chilly enough for him to be wearing a denim jacket. LA doesn’t really see actual fall until well into November, but having lived there his whole life, Alex needs a jacket as soon as it hits 65 degrees. There’s a bounce in his step as he walks across campus, a grin tugging at the ends of his lips. He’d agreed to meet Willie at the skatepark, and it sounds stupid that he’s so excited to see them, considering they live together, but this feels different. It isn’t a date, he reminds himself that he couldn’t be that lucky, but it’s nice. It’s nice to be able to spend time together as friends instead of just roommates.
Alex swings his rollerblades over his shoulder, bringing his other hand up to his face in order to block the sun, hoping to make it easier to find Willie. It isn’t hard to spot him, Willie stands out, and Alex wonders if that’s because of Willie himself or… something else. They’re like a light, the center of Alex’s messy, muddled universe. Willie’s perched on the back of a wooden bench, feet planted on the actual seat and looking off at the sky, they drum theiir feet to the beat of whatever song is playing in their headphones and mouths the lyrics quietly. Alex has always has a habit of noticing things. It stems from his anxiety, but it isn’t so bad when the things he notices is the golden haze around Willie’s head from the way the sun is positioned, or the way the light breeze snakes through his hair. Willie is very pretty, it’s a simple fact, one that Alex had never failed to take notice of; but watching him so… at peace, lost in his thoughts, it hits Alex like a truck.
Alex sidles up to the bench, standing over Willie’s shoulder. “Whatchya listening to?”
Willie yelps and leaps slightly in the air, clutching at his chest. “Christ Alex, you’re like a ghost! How’re you so quiet?”
“Hmm, I think you’re just oblivious.”
“Am not.”
“Are too,” Alex hops over the back of the bench to sit beside Willie. “What’re you thinking about? You had your daydream face on.”
“I don’t have a daydream face.”
“You totally do!” Alex snickers. “It’s like…” He gives a poor rendition of Willie’s so called daydream face, sending the other boy into a fit of giggles.
“I sure hope that isn’t my face,” Willie breathes, clutching onto Alex’s shoulder for balance. Alex begs his heart to please beat a bit slower. When Willie finally calms down, his hand lingers on Alex for a few moments, like he doesn’t quite know how to move it. When they do, Alex’s shoulder feels cold, and he thinks that Willie holding onto him was helping to balance them both, in a way. He shakes that thought from his mind, forcing himself to focus on the present, not the possibilities. Willie is swinging their feet, occasionally brushing Alex’s knees or his calves. His hair is let down and slightly tangled from his helmet, which is resting on the bench beside his skateboard. Alex lets out a gentle breath. Focus on the present. God, he sounds like a therapist.
“Are we gonna skate?” Alex asks, gesturing at his rollerblades and Willie’s skateboard.
Willie seems to think about it for a moment before shaking their head. “Two more songs,” they decide. “I’ll feel incomplete if I don’t finish the playlist.”
Alex peeks over his shoulder at his phone, where Spotify is open. “What’re you listening to?”
Willie scoots closer and Alex is painfully aware of how close they are, their knees knocking together. He offers Alex his other earbud and his voice is soft when he asks if Alex wants to listen with him. It’s like he’s holding a piece of himself in his hands, Alex recalls a time where Luke said that showing someone your music is like showing them your soul. Alex thought he was being dramatic, but now he thinks that he wouldn’t mind having a part of Willie’s soul to keep. He takes the earbud, and they have to move their heads closer to avoid any accidents with the wire. Their foreheads are inches apart, Alex can see the reflection in Willies eyes, soft and earthy, like the bark on his favorite tree that he used to climb until he felt like he could fly.
“Hmm, Green Day’s good,” Alex says, softly lip-syncing the ending of American Idiot. Willie nods in agreement, the movement causing a few loose strands of hair to brush across Alex’s face. Alex has to close his eyes for a few seconds, breath catching in the back of his throat.
A beat of silence passes between songs; Alex can hear Willie’s even breathing and he’s sure Willie can hear his sporadic heartbeat. It’s like they’re trapped in their own little bubble, where the sun never sets and they’re always wrapped in gold. And then it’s over and another song begins.
“Avril Lavigne?” Alex means it to come out as teasing, but his voice is far more tender than he intended.
“Don’t make fun of me!” Willie giggles, bumping Alex’s shoulder. “Shhh, let me listen to the song.”
Alex is so focused on his proximity to Willie that he isn’t paying too much attention to the lyrics that everyone’s heard a million times. “I like ballet,” he mutters absentmindedly in response to the song, not really clocking the way Willie’s face flushes crimson. He quirks a curious eyebrow when Willie shoots up, shoving their phone and earbuds into their pocket. “We didn’t finish the-”
“Lets skate!” Willie cuts in, plastering on a false smile. “I just REALLY wanna skate, so lets do that! Yup! Okay!” They hop on their skateboard, bouncing in anticipation and Alex can’t even admire the way that their hair dances in the wind because he’s just so confused. He’s sure he didn’t do anything wrong. He just said that he likes ballet and-oh. Alex buries his face in his hands at the realization, internally cursing himself. Well that’s one way to accidentally admit to your blossoming crush. Lovely.
Alex opens his mouth to get out an apology, but it’s stuck in the back of his throat. He fumbles with his blades, straps too small and agile beneath his shaking hands. Whatever. It’s fine. If he doesn’t mention it, it didn’t happen right? Willie doesn’t seem to be making any moves to talk about it, so he doesn’t either. Willie still has one foot on his board, looking ready to flee any moment, his eyes glued to the pavement.
“So, you dance?” Willie asks casually, but Alex can hear the tension behind the question.
“Uh yea, since I was little. Another way I disappointed my parents, they always told me dancing was girly and it’d turn me gay.” He laughs ruefully. “We all know how that worked out.” Willie nods distantly. “I danced in high school, mostly jazz, I was never great at ballet.”
“Jazz?!” Alex gasps in mock offense.
“Stupid egotistical ballerina,” Willie teases. The tension seeps from Alex’s shoulders when Willie finally makes eye contact and there isn’t anything hidden behind his gaze. Alex lets a tentative smile creep onto his face, but there’s still something unspoken dangling precariously in the air above them.

Not meant to be (2)
PAIRING: Sirius Black x Reader
Series Masterlist
You got up the next morning with a bright mood. Dressing up, you put your hair in a ponytail and left for the great hall. You knew what you had to do today. You’d talk to Sirius. Sebastian was right, he couldn’t be that bad. You remembered not wanting to judge anyone based on rumors. You got to the Ravenclaw table and sat beside your friends, serving yourself some food. You kept sneaking glances towards the Gryffindor table, not really joining in the conversation about the test that day. You finished with your breakfast and finally saw Sirius come in. You felt your heart do a little jump. Getting up slowly you moved towards him and tapped him on the shoulder lightly. He looked at you and you gave him a small smile.
“Sirius, can I talk to you for a minute?” you asked and he nodded as you both moved outside.
“So…” you started, looking at him expectantly.
“So?”
“Okay, I know it’s a bit of a shock for us both, but I was thinking of not forcing ourselves into anything. What about we get to know each other a little bit? Be friends first?”
“I’m sorry, what are you talking about?” he said. You blinked.
“That I’m your soulmate.” You said looking at him for his reaction. His face remained stoic.
“Listen, I think you have a misunderstanding, I am not your soulmate. I don’t have one.” He said and your gaze immediately shifted to his hand seeing the leather bracelet he wore. Your heart thumped and you squeezed your eyes shut. No, this couldn’t be happening.
“Okay, if you were to remove that, are you sure I won’t see a star tattooed?” you whispered and his eyes widened a bit.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go see Dave, he’s expecting me.”
“So you’re just gonna pretend I don’t exist? That what I- we, felt yesterday was nothing?” you demanded and he huffed.
“I’m not pretending about anything.” He said pointedly going back into the hall. Tears fell down your cheeks and furiously rubbed them away. Not here, not now. Your legs felt too heavy for you to carry yet you walked around aimlessly. You should have known, a small voice in your brain said. He was Sirius Black; of course he wouldn’t accept you as his soulmate. It was like your heart was clawing you from inside. You were wishing for something you never had. You wanted to scream and cry, but somehow you couldn’t. Why you? Why were you supposed to be meant for someone who would never acknowledge you? Why was it you who would never find your other half?
You went into the girl’s washroom and locked yourself in the cubicle. You uttered a few silencing spells and finally cried. You looked at your wrist, and scratched and rubbed at the star furiously wanting it to just fade, wanting never to see it again. No, you could not accept this. You whimpered stroking the side of your arms.
You wiped away all the tears and got out of the stall. You washed your face and performed some spells to cover the red eyes. You looked at the star again which was a deep blue right then and performed some illusionment charms. It was like it never existed. Good, because you didn’t want it too. Taking a last look at yourself, you rushed to the transfiguration class.
***
“Professor, may I come in? I’m really very sorry for being late it won’t happen again.” You said as everyone looked at you.
“You’re 15 minutes late, (Y/n)” she said and finally looked up at you. You saw something cross her face. “I take your word for it and hope you don’t repeat it again. Come and take your test, I won’t be providing any extra time.”
You nodded and took the test from her, sitting in the chair nearest to you. Your head still thumped and you took some big gulps of water. No, you wouldn’t let someone who you barely knew destroy your grades or your life. You took out your quill and started scribbling everything you knew about turning a cup into a tortoise. You did not know how time passed. You looked at the clock when you finished your paper. 5 minutes to go. You revised it one last time and stood up to present it to McGonagall. She frowned slightly and her eyes skimmed through the parchment.
“Well done, (Y/n). You are one hard worker. I have very high expectations for your future; I hope to see you accomplish them.” She said. No matter how hard you tried you couldn’t smile right then. Your eyes started watering again and you didn’t know why. Nodding tightly, you turned and left the class not noticing Sirius’s eyes follow you, specifically your wrist.
***
Sirius’s heart thumped in his chest, his stomach was all knotted up. Wasn’t he the one who said that she wasn’t his soulmate? Then why did it hurt so much seeing her bare wrist? He got what he wanted. No soulmate for him to worry about. It felt so wrong. His mind had been booming since he left her in the hallway. He couldn’t concentrate on his test. He kept sneaking glances at the classroom door wanting to see you. And yet, seeing you finally didn’t make him feel better. He shifted his bracelet a little to look at the star. Dark blue. He did that, he made you feel like that.
“Mr. Black!” his head snapped at his head of house who was scowling at him. “Your answer sheet, please.”
He gave her the sheet quietly and got up taking his bag. He joined his friends who were excitedly talking about the test. Somehow, none of that could dull the turmoil he was going through. James saw Lily and jogged to catch up with her. Remus walked alongside him.
“So, (Y/n)’s your soulmate, huh?” he asked and Sirius’s head whipped towards him. He opened his mouth to reply but the former just shut him.
“You don’t have to lie to me. I understand Sirius, if you don’t want to let anyone into your life, but she’s your soulmate, your greatest strength and most terrible weakness. And don’t feed me with your ‘I don’t have a soulmate bullshit.’ It’s time you accept it. If you let her go Pads, you’ll regret it. Very badly.” Remus said as Sirius’s eyes gleamed.
“And (Y/n) is one headstrong girl; I’ve talked to her so many times. She’s focused on her dreams; she would not wait for you if you let her go. She’ll find someone to be happy with. How would that make you feel?”
Sirius gulped.
“Exactly, Moony. Why would she wait for someone like me?”
***
Days passed after that. Neither of you made an attempt to see or talk to each other. You were glad to have a friend like Sebastian. He cheered you up like no other. The sting was there, of course it was. You saw Sirius every day. It was like you were invisible to him. It made your stomach twist up. It made you want to burn everything around you. You were reminded time and time again that he would never be with you.
Sirius kept sneaking glances at you. His gaze always shifted to you whenever you entered the room. How could it not? Sirius saw the smile you always gave to your close friends how you laughed with them. He would never admit it, but he would give up anything to make you look at him like that. And his heart constricted every time because now, there seemed to be no way you could ever talk to him again. He pushed you away. You weren’t even asking for much, just wanted to be friends and he replied in the meanest way possible. He took off his bracelet at night, seeing the colours float through the star. He smiled a little when it turned a bright yellow sighing that you were happy again.
***
It was the Charms class. Professor Flitwick was late and you sighed, sitting down near Sebastian. He turned to you excitedly.
“So, I heard that someone was singing in the shower today?” he said wriggling his eyebrows and you playfully punched his shoulder grinning.
“I’ll have you know that I am an excellent singer, shower or not.” You said and he rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, my earflaps just open up when you sing.” He said sarcastically and you giggled.
“Alright, fine. I know I can’t sing.” You said shrugging. Sebastian gasped.
“How dare you insult the excellent voice you have?” he said with widened eyes and you laughed.
Sirius saw you and the other boy; he’d come to learn was one of your closest friends, giggle and laugh with each other. If he thought he couldn’t feel worse, he was so wrong. He was so far from you. He gulped, averting his eyes as he saw James notice him.
The professor entered the class mumbling apologies. He stood up on the little stool placed at the center of the class.
“Okay children! For the next assignment, you all will work in groups. And no, they will be pre-assigned.” He added as the class groaned.
You sighed as Sebastian went towards Lily and Grace.
“(Y/n) (Y/l/n), Remus Lupin and Sirius Black.” He said and your eyes widened. It was already difficult pretending that Sirius ignoring you didn’t affect you. Now you were his project partner too? How were you even to look at him without letting your face say all the words you’d been hiding?
Sirius’s eyes sparkled as soon as the professor took his name with yours. Maybe this was his chance to get closer to you. But then he saw your face fall and his heart crushed. Did he repel you so much?
He saw as your eyes flicked over the class room to where he and his friends were sitting. You slowly moved and sat beside Remus giving them both a tight nod. Sirius gulped, looking straight ahead.
The rest of the lesson you spent noting down the details of the project. As the lesson ended, you sucked in a breath and turned towards the boys. You couldn’t avoid them forever.
“I think the first topic seemed to be the easiest to research upon. I’ve seen various books in the library on the very same. What do you guys think?”
“Well, it works for me.” Remus said smiling at you. Your eyes flicked over to Sirius as your heart skipped a beat. It had been so long since you saw him this close. Sirius nodded.
“Yeah, seems good.” He added.
“So I am free on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. What about you?”
“Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays” Sirius answered.
“Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays” Remus said.
“So, Wednesday’s and Saturday’s evening at around 4?” you asked hopefully.
“Yeah.”
“Okay.”
“See you then!” you said giving them a small smile and forced yourself not look any longer at Sirius, who watched you with such a soft expression or you knew you wouldn’t be able to keep the feelings in.
A/N: My deerest peeps, I would love to know what you think. Written for Riley’s ( @wreckofawriter ) Cliche Month’s Challenge. Feedback is very much appreciated as it is like my coffee, energises me ;)

The championship game. If you had thought that the opening game was a big event, the championship game had blown all expectations out of your mind. You weren’t one for big crowds, but here you sat amongst the hundreds of people, Shawn’s large practice jersey adorning your body with the word MENDES written in bold letters along your back. “I love it,” you recalled him telling you the first time you had put it on for a game, “Lets everyone know you’re mine.” It seemed like just yesterday you were sitting nervously at the opening game, watching the boy that had won your heart with something as simple as cups of tea and messages written in sharpie. Fast forward to this afternoon when you had kissed your boyfriend good luck before he went to practice and were now watching him skate across the ice at a rapid pace. There was only 5 minutes left in the game with the score tied up, and everyone in the stadium could feel the nail-biting tension in the air. The puck was now in Shawn’s possession as he skated across the ice towards the goal, determination set in his eyes.
“Come on, Shawn,” you whispered to yourself, watching his every move with bated breath. 4 minutes 31 seconds...30 seconds....29 seconds...CRASH. A loud gasp escaped your lips and you stood in your seat, watching as his body got checked viciously into the boards with a loud bang. Shawn slumped down onto the ice, unable to get up while his opponent stole the puck and began to skate towards the goal. “No, no, no,” you prayed, hands covering your mouth, “You’re ok, baby, get up, you’ve gotta get up.” You saw him shake his head carefully, worried that he had a concussion from the amount of impact his head took, before looking up at the timer on the wall. 2 minutes 54 seconds. His head pounded, eyes wanting so bad to just close and rest for a few seconds, but he saw the clock, knowing that this was his last chance to make his team and school proud. He looked into the crowd, eyes landing on the one person he could always trust. Your eyes connected and as he saw the look of pure concern on your face, he knew that he had to use every last bit of strength inside of him to make you proud because at the end of the day, you were the only person that truly mattered to him. The cheers of the crowd were deafening as Shawn regained his ground, skating towards one of his teammates that had managed to to steal back the puck. Passing him the puck, his team flocked him on both sides, protecting him from defenders while he approached the goalie, the clock only seconds away from the end of the game. 5... Shawn maneuvered around an opponent, puck still against his stick ...4... he stared the goalie dead in the eyes as his heart rate increased from adrenaline ...3... thump thump ....2... shoot ....1... score. The crowd erupted into cheers causing the stadium to move up and down with the excitement in the building. You jumped up, smile so wide your cheeks hurt from the action, but you couldn’t help the proud feeling that erupted in your chest.
His teammates crowded him on the ice, adrenaline and victory rushing through their veins as they piled on one another, spirits high all around. The team’s all star player and captain was handed the winning trophy, National Champion written in bright gold lettering along the front. Cheeks flushed from the ice, Shawn held the trophy high above his head with a smile on his face that could be seen for miles, the stadium roaring in response. The energy was electric among the students, cheering from every inch of the team’s supporters as the team huddled around their winning prize and soaked up the crowd’s excitement. Shawn’s eyes met yours for a split second and you blew him a kiss, a silent message to him to show how proud you were, before he was whisked away for picture with his team.

The outside of the stadium was packed full of students, all waiting for the victors to finally emerge from the stadium. They were chanting the team’s name, the school’s fight song blaring from their mouths in celebration. The doors swung open and the boys came out to the wild applause and screams of the crowd. Shawn led the pack, the team’s captain smiling wide from ear to ear as the students crowded him. You leaned against the wall of the stadium, watching as all of the fans congratulated him, not wanting to disrupt his moment. He thanked them profusely, but his eyes kept wandering around searching for one particular person. Shawn’s eyes met yours and they lit up, pushing past all of the girls begging for his attention. You noticed him moving towards you and lost all restraint, running into his arms so he could pick you up in his strong grasp. You wrapped your legs around his waist, nuzzling your face into his shoulder as he did the same, “I’m so proud of you, bubs.”
“Couldn’t have done it without you, baby,” he told you sincerely, head lifting to show off that dazzling smile, “You’re my good luck charm.” Shawn had sworn by this fact after the only game they had lost had been the 3rd game of the season, the one you skipped in order to study for an upcoming test. Ever since then, you made it a point to be at every game and they hadn’t lost since, furthering proving Shawn’s theory. You giggled as he placed you on the ground, hands coming up to cup your face in a passionate kiss. Breaking away he placed an arm around your waist and kept you close while more people came to talk to him about the game. You snuggled closer to his arm, using him as a way to keep your calm over how crowded the situation was, especially when you began to feel the jealous stares of the puck bunnies around you. Shawn felt your discomfort after a moment and he squeezed your waist in reassurance before beginning to maneuver you out of the crowd. “Do you think you’ll be ok going to a party with me or do you just want to go back to your dorm? I’ll do either, it’s up to you.”
The idea of going to a party tonight made you sick when you’d much rather just cuddle in the arms of your man, but there was no way you were going to let him skip out on a championship after party, “I’ll be fine, you’ve gotta go to the party.”
He turned your body to face his, a serious look on his face, “I’m serious, though, if you don’t feel comfortable going we can just...”
“We’re going,” you replied confidently, hiding the nerves bubbling inside of your chest, “And what you’re not gonna do is worry about me and instead let loose and have fun.”
“I always worry about you babe, but thank you. I don’t deserve you.” He gave you a kiss on your forehead before he led you to follow the crowd in the direction of the chaos.

It was 2 hours into the party when you lost your boyfriend. He had been glued to your side the whole night in an attempt to make you feel comfortable, but once the guys tried to drag him into a game of beer pong after you had begun to strike up a conversation with a girl from your math class, you convinced him to go have fun, assuring him you would be fine. You weren’t one to drink so you had been nursing a beer all night long which only gave you a slight buzz. Shawn on the other hand was about 3 drinks in and had reached the point where you knew he was going to have a nasty hangover the next day. You couldn’t blame him though, you had actually promoted it when one of his teammates, Brian, had handed him another drink. “Shawn, I promise I’ll stay sober so you can have fun,” you had told him, but he protested, claiming that he didn’t want to ruin your night. However, you happened to love drunk Shawn because although you didn’t see him often, he was known to be extremely cute and clingy even if his energy was also to the max.
You followed the loud yells coming from within the house only to find Brian standing on top of the beer pong table in victory as Shawn laughed beneath him. Two guys you recognized as some of his teammates grimaced on the side as they took a swig of an unknown substance, immediately souring their faces in disgust. “Hey bubs,” you placed a tender hand on his shoulder, causing Shawn’s face to turn around with a dopey grin on his face.
“Babyyyyy,” he cooed, wrapping his arms around you, “I missed you.”
You could smell the alcohol on his breath, but you chose to ignore it, focusing on the feeling of being in his arms instead, “I missed you too, did you and Brian win your game?”
“We did! Baby, I’m so good at beer pong,” he mumbled into your hair as his hands roamed your sides, “I should play you sometime.”
“Nah, I’d rather play on your team.”
“Will you lovebirds stop hanging on each other over there, I need my beer pong partner back!”
Shawn’s head perked up after hearing Brian’s words and he pulled you in front of him, back to his chest with his arms still wrapped around you. “I’m not your partner anymore I’m hers,” he said confidently, placing his head on top of yours, “You wanna play us, Craigen?”
“I don’t want to drink anything, Shawn,” you whispered to him while Brian went on the hunt to find a partner.
“I know,” he took your hand in his, kissing the back lightly, “I’ll drink for you, ok?”
“You really think you need more to drink?” you teased and he laughed, throwing his head back causing him to hiccup. His eyes widened at his own actions and a giggle escaped his lips, “Probably not, but I’ve got a pretty girl that’ll take care of me.”
“Oh, I’ve gotta take care of you?’
“You don’t have to, but you’re the only one I want to,” he showed his puppy dog eyes, even though you were fully planning on ensuring he got home safely, “Pleaseeee.”
“I’m just messing with you,” you told him, ruffling through his curls, “I’ll always take care of you.” Just then, Brian came back with his newest victim, giving the both of you a mouthful after you pecked his lips before starting the game. Shawn wasn’t lying, even drunk he was good at beer pong allowing you to win even though you only made 3 throws. Brian’s team still managed to make a considerable amount of cups which led to your beloved boyfriend becoming even drunker than he already was. Once the clock hit 3 am and Shawn began suggesting that you join in on the body shots that people were beginning to do in the kitchen, you decided that it was time to bring your champion home.

“Come on, bubs, let’s get you out of these clothes.” Shawn was busy mumbling something incoherent as you stumbled into his dorm room and placed him on the bed. You knew Brian was probably not coming back tonight, so you weren’t worried about him barging into the room in the middle of the night. You lightly tugged on his alcohol stained shirt, a result of him getting a little clumsy during his second round of beer pong, “You gotta help me a little bit here, big guy.”
He lifted his arms up to help you out, eyes glazed over as he sat on the edge of his bed, “’M tired.”
“I know, bubs,” you sighed, beginning to unbutton his pants, “Just gotta get you into some clean clothes.”
“Hey, missy, no funny business there,” he slurred out with a drunken smile on his lips as he grabbed your wrist from pulling down his pants, earning a giggle from you in response.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, bubs,” successfully tugging his pants off, you reached behind you for the pair of pajama pants you had placed on the dresser and turned back to the giant man child that now had a pout adorning his face.
“You don’t dream of it?” he asked hurt, eyes drooping from the lack of sleep, “But, but, I’m your boyfriend...and you’ve said I’m handsome, and, and I’m hot!”
You laughed at his antics, getting the pants around his ankles and putting your hands in his to help hims stand up. He leaned against your much smaller body as you pulled the waist band up and held his face in your hands. “I think you’re very, very handsome,” you told him, admiring how adorable he looked even with glazed, drunken eyes and a bright pink tint to his cheeks from the alcohol, “I also happen to think you’re the hottest man alive, but you just so happen to be extremely drunk right now which means you need to go to sleep.” Shawn collapsed into your arms, giving you a bone crushing hug as you stumbled back trying to regain your footing.
“I love you,” he mumbled into your shoulder, “so, so much.”
Your heart fluttered at his words. You had only been dating for a little over 5 months, so the words were still very new to the two of you and they almost made you cry at how lucky you were every time he said those 3 simple words. “I love you too, champ. Let’s get you to bed.”
You maneuvered him into the tiny bed of his dorm room and he immediately snuggled into your chest like a little puppy once you laid down. With his head rested comfortably on your chest and his arms wrapped around you, his breathing began to even out while you slowly ran your fingers through his curls, “Goodnight, my little champion.”
_________________________
Your alarm went off at 9am much to your dismay, and you struggled to reach over the curly headed boy on your chest to turn it off. You didn’t have a single clue as to why you still had a lecture today, but you did, and as much as you wanted to just lay in bed all day with your boyfriend, you couldn’t miss one of your hardest lectures. You tried to move out from underneath your giant of a boyfriend earning you a groan while his arms tightened around you. “Shawn, I have to get up,” you whispered, tracing over the freckles on his muscular back.
“Don’t go,” he mumbled into your chest, “Just wanna cuddle for a little bit.”
“I know bubs, but I have to get to class.”
At this, he finally let you leave his strong grasps, grabbing onto the pillow to hold onto in place of you, “What class?”
“Mr. Howard at 11, but I have to go home and get changed.” You had put on the sweatshirt you had under his jersey along with your jeans from the game, knowing you couldn’t just wear the shirt you had stolen from his closet to sleep in last night to walk back to your dorm. “I left you some water and medicine for your head on the nightstand, make sure to get some rest, ok?” you ruffled your hands through his hair and he relaxed further into the mattress from your motions. You gave him a soft kiss on his mass of curls, mumbling an I love you into them, before grabbing your belongings from atop Brian’s bed and turning towards the door.
Shawn grabbed your hand to stop you from leaving, placing the sweetest of kisses on the back of your hand while looking you in the eyes, “I love you more.” Your cheeks heated up at his words and you squeezed his hand lovingly before making your way out of his room.
Walking as fast as you could to your dorm room, you got ready in a hurry, knowing you would have to rush to make your lecture in time due to the extra moments you had spent at Shawn’s place. You put on the first reasonable outfit you could find and packed your bag at a rapid speed in order to make it out the door with 15 minutes to spare. It usually took about 20 minutes for you to walk to class, but you were determined to not be late today. You practically sprinted to the large stone building and managed to walk through the door just as the professor was about to lock it. Giving him a sheepish smile, your eyes searched for an open seat, only to let out a disappointed sigh when you noticed that your typical seat towards the front had been taken. The only available seat was right next to the door and you begrudgingly sat down in it as you took out your laptop to take notes.
30 minutes into the lecture and your brain was fried. Your mind kept on wandering off and daydreaming about being back in bed in Shawn’s arms no matter how much you tried to concentrate. This had to be one of your hardest lectures, but you were having such a hard time focusing that you were wondering if you should just pack your things and leave. The growling of your stomach cut off your thoughts and made you realize that you hadn’t eaten or drank anything before coming to class, which was definitely taking a toll on you. You sighed, looking back up at the professor when you heard the door of the lecture hall closing. Whipping your head around, you couldn’t see anyone entering the room so you focused your thoughts back to the screen with a confused look on your face. As you went to move your laptop to better see your professor, your eyes were drawn to something that had definitely not been on your desk a few seconds prior. A white cup of tea, noticeably from the school’s cafe, was sitting right on the corner of your desk, staring back at you. Tentatively, you picked it up, turning it around in your hands only to be met with Shawn’s signature handwriting written in Sharpie.
A hot hibiscus tea with one scoop of sugar.
Sorry if I made you late to class today, thank you for taking care of me beautiful.
Love you loads, Shawn aka Bubs aka your Champ aka Best Boyfriend ever
P.S. because you’re an amazing girlfriend and you spent the whole night making sure I didn’t kill myself I’m taking you out tonight. I’m picking you up at 7, dress warm;)
You bit your lip to hide the wide grin forming on your face and suddenly, you wanted to get out of class as soon as possible for a completely different reason. The lecture seemed to drag on for hours and the moment your professor was finished you were rushing out the door to your dorm. You still had almost 6 hours left to kill before Shawn picked you up, so you texted him letting you know that you were done with class as you began to distract yourself with homework and notes from other classes. Once 6pm approached, you heart was beating rapidly with excitement and you decided it wasn’t too early to get ready. You didn’t quite know what to wear when he said dress warm because the weather was considerably nice outside and did not require a warmer dress code. Nevertheless, you decided to put on one of Shawn’s hockey sweatshirts that had his name printed on the back in bold with the school’s logo on the front and some warm leggings underneath.
7 o’clock rolled around as a knock sounded on your door. Opening it up to reveal your perfect boyfriend, you launched yourself into his arms which he responded to by pulling you closer with a light laugh, “Hi baby.”
“Hi handsome,” you giggled as he looked at you sheepishly while holding out a bouquet of yellow roses to you, which he just happened to know were your favorite, as if it was your first date all over again. You thanked him with a blush on your face and a kiss to his cheek, causing his face to light up pink when you turned around, just from your presence.
“That’s an awfully nice sweatshirt you got there.”
You laughed as he made his way into your dorm room, wrapping his arms around you from behind while you were finding a place to put the flowers, “I got it from the greatest college hockey player I know.”
“I’m the only college hockey player you know,” he pointed out as you turned around in his hold.
“Exactly,” you teased and he feigned offense, pinching your sides lightly in protest and pouting out his lips. You leaned up to kiss the pout off his lips and he immediately deepened the kiss, pushing his body closer to yours until he suddenly came to his senses and pulled away, “Stop distracting me woman, we have places to be.” With that he grabbed your hand and began to pull you out of the dorms and towards his jeep, the two of you laughing the entire way.
_________________________
The drive to your unknown location took less than 10 minutes and before you knew it, Shawn was pulling into a parking stop at the school’s hockey stadium. “What are we doing here?” you curiously asked through giggles from the last joke he had just told you.
“I may or may not have gotten the rink free for tonight so we could skate together,” he confessed, a bashful blush on his cheeks as he got out of the jeep and came around to open your door.
“How did you manage that?”
“Being the school’s star player and captain does have its perks. You’re practically dating a celebrity baby.”
“Oh shut up,” you pushed him jokingly and he retaliated quickly, lifting you over his shoulder and running towards the door.
“Shawn! Let me down!” you laughed as your arms tried to grab onto a part of his muscular back to no avail. He grabbed your legs to insure you wouldn’t fall and spun you around one last time once he reached the entrance, putting you down gently. Shawn opened the door for you, the stadium feeling oddly empty with how quiet it was. Guiding you towards the rink, Shawn felt his heart bubble in anticipation at the thought of having his girl alone with him in his favorite place to just skate around. He handed you a pair of skates that he had already placed on a bench for you, having asked your roommate for your shoe size earlier in the day. “I haven’t been ice skating in about 5 years,” you admitted, a nervous chuckle leaving your lips. How you managed to have a star hockey player as your boyfriend when you could hardly skate on two feet you didn’t know, and even though you knew Shawn wouldn’t judge you for your skills, or lack of for that matter, you still felt a tad bit embarrassed.
“Don’t worry, hun,” he told you as he helped you lace up your skates, “I’ll hold your hand every second we’re out there.” With one last tug on the laces, he patted your skate securely, looking up at you with doe-like eyes, “How do they feel?”
“Perfect,” you leaned down and pecked his lips before he sat down next to you to begin his own skates. Taking your hand in his, he pulled you onto your wobbily feet and led you towards the ice.
“Now I’m gonna get on first, just hold onto my hands.” This wasn’t your forte for sure, but Shawn was a patient teacher and after a few laps around the rink, you were feeling much more confident, probably a little too confident. You had been skating for about 45 minutes when you had suggested that he taught you how to skate backwards. Shawn’s face had lit up, loving every second of you being interested in something he loved and he immediately turned himself around to hold your hands to show you how to start. For a beginner, you weren’t doing awful, but you were far from perfect and that became clear when your feet fell out from underneath you. Shawn wrapped his arms around you just as you were about to fall on your butt, effectively having you land on top of him on the ice, the both of you laughing your heads off.
Once the laughter began to settle, Shawn’s eyes began to turn softer, the lights inside of the rink making them glow brighter than usual. “How’d I get so lucky?” he mumbled to himself as he tucked a stray piece of hair behind your ear, but you heard it loud and clear.
“I ask myself that everyday, bubs.”
He cradled the back of your head in his hand, lifting his head to meet your lips in a passionate kiss. “I love you,” you whispered softly against his lips.
“I love you too, baby. You mean more to me than any hockey championship I could ever win.”

Adversity (Chapter 2)
This is a follow-up to the first chapter here. Cross-posted in AO3.
Overview: Lin and Tenzin are both at the height of their respective careers – she with the Metalbending Police and he with the Air Nation. Questions about their future begin to arise and things come to a head when Lin responded to an emergency call. Would her job take them from each other forever? Eventual HEA. Non-canon compliant, AU. (Notes at the end of the post.)
--
Tenzin woke up with a start.
From his vantage on his bed, he could see the soft colors of the sky changing as dawn made itself known.
He swore quietly. He did not mean to fall asleep at the island. If he hurried, he figured he could probably still catch Lin before she left for work.
He tried to sit up; only to be weighed down by a toned arm slumped over him. He rubbed off sleep from his eyes and saw his girlfriend lightly slumbering on his chest. The airbender wondered how did the earthbender end up sleeping in his childhood bedroom at Air Temple Island.
Tenzin recognized that it was not a peaceful sleep, however. There were days that she was tense and there were days that she was relaxed. Today, her unblemished sleeping expression was marred by a small frown.
Tenzin skated his fingers on her forearm. His movements jolted her awake.
“Wha-?”
Without warning, the earthbender shot her arm up - hitting the master airbender on the nose.
"Ow!"
Lin bolted upright. "Tenzin - what- oh!" She turned to her side, seeing her lover of more than a decade clutching his nose and rubbing it. "I am so sorry," Lin reached out to touch his face. "I didn't mean to!"
Certain that there was nothing broken and that there was no blood, Tenzin took Lin's hand and held it to his cheek. Time and time again, he forgot that he should never try to startle this law enforcer in her sleep.
"Ten," The uncharacteristically soft voice of the chief of police whispered. "I'm sorry for missing dinner last night. I'm sorry -I just…" Lin trailed off. "I forgot."
Lin was not one to make excuses.  Tenzin loved that about her - she was authentic and honest to a fault. As he looked at her contrite expression, all his annoyances from the previous night faded.
In the light of dawn and in bed, it did not seem so bad.
“It's fine.” He replied, meaning it the first time in the past twenty-four hours, kissing her forehead softly.
----------
After spending a few more quiet moments in each other’s arms, Lin broke the silence. “Were you going to meditate?”
“No, actually, I uh, I planned to get home before you left for the station.” Tenzin rubbed the back of his neck. Then everything came tumbling out. “Honestly, I was really…” He searched for a word to describe his emotions. Annoyed. “Irritated.” He tested it. “At first, at least. Then worried – you didn't even think to let me know you'd be late.”
She motioned to speak but he continued. “I know. I know you said someone from the station would likely get in touch with me if ever – in the event of -.” He did not want to say “an accident” or “death” out loud, being a tad superstitious that way. “And you're Lin Beifong, Chief of the Republic City Metalbending Police. You’re practically indestructible, I know.” He held her tighter. “But to me, you’re Lin Beifong, the woman I love. Take care of yourself.”
“I shouldn’t have worried you, I should have called earlier.” Lin averted her eyes and burrowed in his embrace. She sensed something else was bothering Tenzin. “How was your day yesterday?” She ventured, peeking at his face from her position.
Tenzin shifted uncomfortably then sighed. “The air acolytes do not take me seriously. They were laughing quietly most of the session. They were never like that when dad conducted the session.” He huffed. “They probably don’t think I’m an airbending master.”
“It's just the first session.” Lin had another guess why they were laughing but did not speak up about it just yet. “I’m sure they weren’t laughing at you.”
“Why of course they were – they’d look at me then laugh amongst themselves.” Tenzin looked distraught.
“I don’t think so…”
Lin has seen how some of the younger Air Acolytes looked at the youngest airbender.
At the age of thirty-one, he did strike an intimidating yet appealing figure. While lean, his muscular limbs (and hidden well-formed abs, Lin thought smugly) belied a strength that he had acquired on his rigorous training sessions. Not to mention the upbringing of Katara and Aang turned him into quite an intelligent gentleman.
And obviously, Lin supposed, the prospect being the wife of the son of the Avatar does not hurt his chances with the ladies much either.
Wife? Not pausing to think about where that thought came from, she sought to assure him. “You’re doing great, I’m sure of that, Tenzin. Don’t worry so much – they, the Air Acolytes adore you.” She patted his cheek.
Tenzin rolled his eyes, his good mood restored. “You don’t have to be so sarcastic about it. It’s too early.”
Lin made a non-committal noise as she pushed to put her feet on the floor beside the bed.
“I just said it’s too early,” Tenzin reached over to stop her from standing up. “You’re getting up? You really enjoy contradicting me, don’t you?”
Lin laughed. “Well, I do – but yes, I need to go. I just wanted to make sure I got to you before we started today.”
“Let’s eat before you go – I’m sure Mother had some leftovers set aside from last night.” Seeing the woman’s unmoved expression, he changed his suggestion. “Or at least let me make you tea?”
“Tea would be fine.” Lin conceded as she went to change her clothes.
Tenzin got to the kitchen quicker as he did not need a change in clothes, having fallen asleep in his robes.
Lin followed soon afterwards, barefoot but in her daily uniform, carrying an overnight bag.
“You’re going straight to the station?” Tenzin got some cups out as the tea continued to steep.
“Yes, it’s going to be a long day.” Lin did not look forward to these meetings and public speaking engagements. There was a reason why she did not choose to be a diplomat or a councilwoman. She was a woman of action, like her mother.
She rummaged through the bag, checking that she had everything in place.
“How are you getting back to Republic City?” He poured her a cup tea. “I don’t suppose the ferries are operating now.” He leaned back, tugging at his beard while watching her sip her tea. “Or late last night either. How did you get to Air Temple Island anyway?”
She gave him a crooked smile. “I phoned in a favor.”
“What – how – how?” Tenzin stammered, staring at her. “This isn’t illegal, is it?”
“Of course not, it’s me you’re talking to.” Lin scoffed, finishing her drink. “I once helped a dockmaster catch a couple of smugglers in a case I worked on as a detective a few years ago.” She pulled her metal boots from the doorway. “He said I could borrow a boat or a ship anytime I’ll need it.”
“Good morning, children.” Katara entered the room quietly. Only Katara could get away calling the Gaang’s offspring as children, even if most of them are past their thirties.
“Hello, mother.” Tenzin poured her a cup of tea too.
“Lin,” Katara greeted the woman in the Republic City police uniform. “You’re here.”
Lin leaned over to give her adoptive aunt a hug. “Yes, but I’ll need to head on now.” She saw Katara gesture towards the dining table, indicating breakfast.  “Thanks, Aunt, but I’ll need to prep for today.”
The waterbender gave a light laugh seeing Lin make a face, recalling that Toph did not like those kinds of meetings as well. “Well, all right. We’ll see you later?”
Lin gave a non-committal sound as she got up to leave.
“Good luck, sweetie.”
Tenzin moved to give her a quick kiss before she hurried off, the ground reaching to meet her as she bent her way to the docks where her borrowed boat waited.
----------
Tenzin waited inconspicuously at the City Hall lobby. Well, at least as inconspicuous as an airbending master (one of two in the entire world) could be. He fidgeted from the stone bench he was sitting on. He figured he better wait until the council meeting was over. He wanted to take Lin out for an early lunch. If the meeting was good, they can celebrate. If it was particularly challenging (or infuriating, Lin might say), he can help her let off some steam.
He was lost in this reverie when the doors flung open.
There was a lot of commotion as the press started taking photos. Security was able to halt any further movement of the press into the council hall.
The Chief of Police rapidly exited the room, looking ahead and exiting the building; her three metalbenders struggled to catch up. The press followed, her stoic expression not discouraging them from plying her with questions.
It all happened so fast that Tenzin did not even get to call out to get her attention.
His father and uncle came out of the hall soon afterwards, albeit in a slower pace.
“Son!” Aang noticed him looking at the entryway of city hall. “You’ve come to join us?”
“Uh – Lin – I,” Tenzin’s eyes darted from where Lin just passed to his father, standing in askance at him.
“Let’s go, Tenten.” Sokka slapped his back, never mind that the airbender was a couple of inches taller. “If we’re lucky, we’ll find a good spot.”
“Good spot?”
“Yes, we preferred not to go the VIP route. Lin would have hated that.” Aang started to walk out of city hall, pleasantly surprised that all attention went with the young Beifong woman than the avatar.
“Well, she would have given it to us still if we asked for it.” Sokka considered, holding up his hand, trying to look against the sunlight as though searching for someone.
“Always hated attention,” The airbender stood patiently, waiting. “Very un-Beifong of her, I should think.”
“Who is very un-Beifong?” A voice rang from behind them, coming from one of the pillars.
“Toph!” Sokka rushed to give her a hug, which the blind earthbender deflected with a punch to his forearm.
“Hey, Snoozles.” She stepped aside as the Water Tribe chief greeted his wife who had picked her up from the pier. “Thanks for sending these two old ladies to fetch me – no need to do so though.” Toph Beifong sniggered, as she felt Katara and Suki roll their eyes as the Beifong heiress was only a few years younger than them.
“Good to see you, Sifu.” Aang tilted his head in acknowledgment to his earthbending teacher, who positioned her foot subtly then smiled somewhat sadly in return.
Tenzin tensed as he felt the milky green eyes turn to him. “Chief Beifong –.”
“That’s Toph Beifong to you, Junior,” Toph snarked, but accepted his bow. “I don’t see Lin around, you know.”
“Hi Sweetie,” Katara gave Aang quick kiss on the cheek. “Tenzin, there you are. I was looking for you earlier.”
Tenzin was bewildered at the gathering of their family at the steps of Republic City Hall. “Why are you all here?”
Toph slapped Tenzin upside the head. “I know I’m not the perfect goody-goody mother like your mother here. But don’t you think I’d at least try to be there for my child?”
The younger airbender still looked in confused as the group paired off and proceeded to what Tenzin saw as the direction of the police department.
Tenzin and Toph soon outstripped Suki, Sokka, Katara and Aang as Sokka got sidetracked by a street food vendor.
“It’s more difficult for her, you know.” Toph spoke, breaking the comfortable silence between them.
“I’m sorry?”
“Lin is in a more difficult situation now than I was in the police force.”
The tattooed airbender threw his girlfriend’s mother a glance. “Well, I understand there is a difference being the current chief versus being the actual founder of the entire force…” He trailed off.
“That’s not all of it,” Toph leveled the pavement in ahead of them, removing the uneven placement of bricks which were a result of shoddy workmanship. “I know she truly climbed up the ranks on her own. She deserves this position based on her own merit.” She felt Tenzin nod beside her. “It was different when I first resigned – she was a just a detective then. Captain Lee became my successor; he stayed there for seven years or so. I remained as consultant to the force during that same period. And, you know how Lin was mentored as his eventual successor.”
Tenzin was not sure where this discussion was going. He also was not sure why they were all trudging towards the police headquarters.
“Lin is truly on her own now.” Toph paused as they neared their destination. “I wouldn’t be around – I haven’t been around for some time now. It’s all up to her now to keep everyone in line and help make Republic City safer.”
Having reached the Republic City Police headquarters, Tenzin saw that an assembly was about to begin. The press was already positioned at the forecourt and a crowd of citizens have likewise gathered. The police force was also stationed in the area, with the Republic City Police and the Metalbending Police sectioned separately.
He squinted and easily found the Chief of Police at the head of the stairs, beside a podium which was set up for the occasion. She seemed to be barking out instructions to her subordinates.
Tenzin was surprised to notice that while there were other women police in the force, there were none in the elite Metalbending division. No one, at least, except for their leader.
“But you’re a girl too.” Tenzin blurted out without thinking.
Toph raised an eyebrow at him, amused. “Why, thank you for noticing. I figured you must have realized that at some point, given that I gave birth to two kids.” She slapped her foot down, sensing the perimeter to see if there are possible threats to the gathering in front of the police department.
“I mean, you and Lin,” Tenzin turned red, stammering. His brother would laugh at him if he were there. Despite being an eloquent speaker, Tenzin easily gets flustered among family and friends. “Lin is a woman too.”
Satisfied with her perimeter check, Toph turned to the airhead beside her. “I’m sure you’d know that pretty well, eh?” She gave a laugh, enjoying the racing heartrate and heat of embarrassment radiating from the man. “I’m also sure you’ve done due to diligence to confirm that she’s a woman?” She took pity at him. “Well, yes, there would probably be similar experiences between my daughter and myself, but she’s her own person. While she would need reminding sometimes, this is very apparent to the police force.” She flicked a hand to indicate the group of uniformed officers. “It’s challenging enough to get into the academy and get a good position in the force. Just think of all the male egos thinking she got a free ride not knowing she probably had to deal with worse as she was raised by me?”
“It would be hard to make sure they get in line,” Tenzin started to understand.
“Yes,” Toph nodded in appreciation. “Mind you, all the old ones – no problem with that. They all trained with me and Lin. They’ve been around longer.” She shook her head in emphasis. “No, I’m not worried about old-timers – they respect her.”
“The rest are probably terrified of Lin,” Tenzin ventured, recalling work stories about the newer officers that Lin shared as they ate dinner at home.
“Don’t be simplistic – I never felt any of the officers look at me the way they do at Lin.” Lin’s mother responded irritably, not being able to get through the man and so deciding to be as blunt as possible now. “They’re all too terrified of me for them to make a move on her. Times change, junior, and I’m no longer around Republic City as much. The mere threat of my presence used to be enough to deter them, but now,” Toph’s tone hardened, facing the general direction of the police force. “Not even her distant manner and aloof comportment can dampen her appeal.” At the airbender’s sharp intake of breath, Toph knew he finally understood what she was telling him. “I’m not threatening you – far from it. I don’t think Lin would do anything about it if she knew; she’s too attached to you for some reason.” Toph rolled her eyes good-naturedly. “I just thought you should know - keep you on your toes, remind you to appreciate my girl. Otherwise, you might have never known; I think you’re a dense airhead like your father.”  Just behind them, she could vaguely hear Suki wheedling some jerky from Sokka to subtly remind him of his healer’s recommendation to lay off salty food. “Or your mother for that matter.” Bending a brick in Sokka’s path so he tripped, tossing the paper bag of jerky in the air. “Definitely from your mother’s side.” The blind woman grinned, opening her palm to catch the paper bag as it fell.
“Hey, that’s mine!”
As his uncle struggled to take the bag from the master metalbender, who cackled as she started to eat the jerky, Tenzin could only watch Lin Beifong from afar, processing all that her mother imparted with him.
The current Chief of Police stood tall and poised amidst the frequent flashing of cameras, consulting a folder on the podium. She was getting ready to begin.
Lin was taller than the average woman from any of the Four Nations. Growing up, she did not feel comfortable about it. Already a bit more athletic than the average Republic City lady in the finishing school that the Beifongs went to, Lin felt her height was an impediment. Tenzin had always appreciated Lin’s height; he used to say that it was the perfect height for him to give her a hug. However, it certainly did not help that Bumi would occasionally tease her that she was possibly taller by a head compared to more than half the men in his regiment. That was until she learned to metalbend and once zipped open his fly while he was chatting up a group of women during one of their parents’ parties. Tenzin smirked in the recollection of Bumi apologizing to the women and to pleading with Toph not to arrest him for indecent exposure.
Watching the woman now, any insecurity seems to have been tamped out as Lin welcomed everyone confidently. Tenzin let her voice wash over him as she gave an introduction and an update regarding the earlier council meeting.
He did not see any reason to doubt the warning the former Chief of Police shared. Scanning over the crowd, he saw everyone listening attentively to her measured statements. He wondered how many of these people (and her people) were harboring romantic (or even less than wholesome and unsavory, he thought darkly) intentions towards his girlfriend.
His girlfriend. It clicked in his mind.
“But I’m her boyfriend. I’m an airbending master.” Tenzin whispered furiously at the oldest Beifong woman. “Shouldn’t I be enough of a deterrent to whatever they might be thinking of doing?”
The blind metalbender let out a snort. “You – not saying this to offend you, junior – are a pacifist. And these,” She nodded towards the sea of metal before them. “Are kick-ass metalbenders off to defend the entire United Republic in any way they can. Do you think they’ll be impressed just because you’re the only Airbender of your generation?” She crossed her arms. “Didn’t think so. Wait a minute – junior, do you even know what we’re doing here?”
“What? Of course, I do.” Tenzin aimed for a blank expression and a steady heartbeat, seeing that Toph had angled herself to face him. He barely caught the tail-end of Lin’s introduction speech.
“And so that is the overview of the achievements of the Republic City Police during the first ninety days of my official term as Chief of Police.” Lin’s voice echoed in the forecourt. “We will now proceed with the details regarding each of these items and how they relate towards the City Council’s performance pillars.”
Tenzin’s eyes widened. He had been too preoccupied with his own concerns that he had failed to check-in on Lin. Today was a milestone day in Lin Beifong’s career as the Chief of the Metalbending and Republic City Police department.
“You forgot – didn’t you?”
The airbender felt the ground gave way below him and then suddenly rise up to launch him to the sky.
“You, airhead! You’re more clueless than Twinkletoes!”
He was vaguely aware of his father trying to calm down Toph and hundreds of people turned to see what the commotion was about. But first, he needed to land.
Using his airbending, Tenzin descended beside the column of earth that Toph had seen fit to eject him from.
He raised a hand and gave a small smile at Lin’s stunned face as she was forced to pause her speech due to the disturbance. The tightening of her lips did not bode too well for him at this point.
Toph stopped arguing with Aang long enough to realize that the forecourt was silent except for them. “What?” She sensed her daughter’s mortification from yards away. “Proud of you, Chief!” She made a fist bump. No one moved a muscle as Lin waved one hand to the side and crossed her other arm to her chest. “Well, fine, let me drag myself and Master Tenzin here to the precinct for disorderly conduct or something.” She bent the ground to attach to Tenzin’s legs and literally dragged him sputtering in indignation, to the side entrance. “Carry on, carry on. See you later!”
Bumi sniggered from beside his mother. “Who would’ve thought it would be Mr Well-Behaved who would be called for a time out today?” He quickly put on his innocent face when Katara glared at him.
Aang smiled brightly at everyone else looking at their corner, waving them to turn their attention to the podium and for Lin to proceed with her speech.
Lin was right: it was going to be a long day and it was not noon yet.

Alex Jones had said nothing, only quivering in the corner when Loki got too close.
Holly Jones said nothing, only eyeing you when you walked around and picked apart her home with your eyes.
The forensic investigating team found nothing, leaving both you and Loki at a loss for a possible motive or path to these two girls.
The morning after the girls were kidnapped, after investigating Alex Jones, Holly Jones, and the RV, those who were given the rest of the night off returned to work the next morning, early, with dread in their steps.
The officers dreading the possibility of finding a body or two when they searched the forest and nearby fields in the early dawn.
Captain O’Malley dreaded the conversation he would have with PSP, and the FBI perhaps, if they couldn’t locate or find the girls on time.
But early morning came fast for you and Loki. You had just sat in your living room, looking blankly at the screen of your TV as the early morning news had replayed the same information about the missing girls over and over again, their pictures searing into your mind until the room was no longer lit by just the TV screen but the sun shining in from the windows behind it also. You looked at the cable box which read the time 6:57 on it and you knew Loki would be there soon to pick you up to go back to work, so you decided to shower and look as presentable as you could with little sleep, because today, you would meet the families and didn’t want to look unprofessional.
The same knock you heard every morning, three taps in a row sounded at your door at 7:15, right on the dot. You moved from the coffee cup you had been staring aimlessly at and opened the door, going back to the cup as he let himself in and you dumped it into the sink.
“Want any?” You offered and he shook his head in response, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“Get any sleep?” He asked and now you shook your head.
“What do you think?” You responded and he took his hand out of his jacket to look at his watch.
“Me either. We need to go, Birches first then the Dover’s. You want to ask the questions?” Loki opened the door and let you walk out first, closing it behind him and meeting you at the car. You hesitated opening the door and he looked at you from across the hood.
“You can ask the questions, if I have anything to say, I’ll say it.” He nodded his head at you and the two of you made your way to the Birches house.
The house stood atop the little hill, a nice, colonial style home with black shutters on the white windows and a red door adorned with a holiday wreath. It was in fact, the perfect family home. The one little children dream about having when they have a family, a pet, children of their own. One you had dreamed of too, a home for your husband, a big dog, two children, and maybe a goldfish if those kids were good enough and everyone loved you as much as you loved them.
“Is everything alright?” Loki asked you as he shoved a notepad into his pocket and reached across your lap to open the glove compartment in the car to grab a pen. You shook your mind out of those fairytale thoughts and looked over at him as he sat back up and you unbuckled yourself.
“I’m fine. Let’s go.” You reassured him but he wasn’t fully convinced. Loki, out of all the people that could have believed you were fine, knew you weren’t fine. This particular case weighed heavily on you, on your heart and family and he didn’t want to push the limits on what you thought you could do.
“Y/n, I’m serious. If you don’t think you can handle this, I don’t want you to go in there.” He told you and the way he looked at you made you believe he was telling the truth. Behind all that facade of brash harshness and tattooed toughness, Loki was a good man with a good heart and you were lucky enough to be at the receiving end of it.
“I’ll be fine... besides, maybe if they had someone that understood what they were going through, they will tell us more or be willing to open up.” You told him and he agreed with you, though still cautious. So, as the two of you approached the picture perfect home, he took the lead, promising to himself that he wouldn’t let you get lost in other people’s trauma when it clearly still affected you.
A man with glasses and a striped brown sweater answered the door. Loki pulled his badge off his dark pants and showed it to who you assumed was Mr. Birch, father of Joy.
My name is Detective Loki; this is my partner Detective L/n. Mr. Birch?” He asked the man and he nodded his head at Loki, his eyes flicking between the two of you.
“We are here just to ask some questions, follow up on what the police had reported to us from yesterday evening, is your wife also home?” Loki put his badge away and glanced inside the home. Mr. Birch opened the door wider and he gestured for the both of you two come inside.
“Franklin Birch, my wife is in there.” He extended his hand to Loki, then you, which you smiled lightly, shaking his hand. He led you inside and to the left, where the small living room which was decorated nicely, a large painting of a horse was sitting on the wall to your right. But in that line of view sat a woman at the kitchen table, Mrs. Birch. She didn’t move when she heard the door open or footsteps enter the room, instead, she sat staring blankly at the kitchen table and window across from it. You had seen this look on peoples faces before, your own even when it wasn’t overcome with emotion.
“Honey?” Franklin called out to her but she didn’t move even when you both walked closer to her inside the living room.
“Her name is Nancy.” He said to the both of you.
“Detective Loki and his- honey?” He walks up closer to her, Loki following behind Franklin and you not far behind.
Loki moved passed Franklin, coming to stand closer to Nancy. His footsteps must have shaken her out of her trace as she seemed to respond to the sounds. She picked up photographs of Joy and handed them to Loki, not turning to fully look at either of you.
“These photos are better than the ones my husband gave you. You can see her eyes better, more clearly.” She said and put her hands back in her lap, looking at the food that still adorned the table in front of you. Loki watched her for a few moments, analyzing her behavior as distant, closed off, what he would expect from a woman who has just had her child taken from her, at least that’s what he believed.
As Loki looked at the pictures, Franklin sat down on the couch behind you in the living room. He ran his hands over his face and moved his glasses up to rub his eyes in frustration.
“Has there been any news? Or any leads on where Joy and Anna might be?” Franklin asks the both of you, but maintained his eyes on you, as you were closest to him.
“I’m afraid we can’t discuss that at the moment. I will be sure to let you know immediately when we hear or find something that pertains to this case.” You tell him and Nancy turns around to look at you. You had never met her before, or seen her in town. She was a middle aged woman who looked destroyed by what had happened. She had bags under her eyes and was visibly stressed out.
“It’s my daughter! You can’t tell me what’s going on when it’s about my daughter!? What about the man that police said you caught yesterday? The RV had to be the one, it matched what Ralph Dover said!” She yelled at you but you shook your head and tried to calm her down.
“Mrs. Birch, I know what you are going through is confusing and difficult but please be patient with what we have to do. Detective Loki and I want to get Joy and Anna home as quickly and safely as possible but I need you to help me by staying as calm as you can and help us with anything we can use to investigate where they might be.” You say and approach her chair where you knelt down and grabbed her hand, which she took and squeezed hard, it was comforting in an odd sort of way to Nancy.
“I promise you we will try everything in our power to bring them home. Detective Loki here has solved every single case he’s been on and I know this one will be no different.”
That didn’t mean anything. The case could have gone good or bad, but it was solved. But you meant in the good way, where Nancy and Franklin Birch could believe that Joy could come home safely. It was something they could trust.
You let go of Nancy’s hand and stood back up, looking over at Loki who was already watching you and he gestured to the photos in his hands.
“We should be going now, Mr. and Mrs. Birch. Thank you, for the photographs. I am sure these will be very helpful for us.” Loki told the both of them and Nancy nodded, turning her back toward you and Loki, not looking back as Franklin brought you to the door.
“Thank you for coming, Detectives.” Franklin said and Loki shook his hand again before Franklin looked to you.
“Please let us know if you... if you...” He trailed off, he didn’t want to say ‘find anything’ because it sounded like the conversation someone would have if they had found a body. He doesn’t want you to find a body.
“Of course, Mr. Birch.” You tell him and make your way to the car with Loki, silent as he starts the car and drives away. The Dover’s had been sent to the station during that time to take a polygraph test, one the Birches would be taking later that day. O’Malley told you both that you couldn’t interrogate Alex Jones again because he was shaken up about the first interrogation with Loki. You would have to wait until at least the night to ask him any more questions, this time with an approach that didn’t make him feel so uncomfortable.
So, in the time you waited to head over to the Dover’s, Loki and you sat in his car, quietly working on paper work with the police scanner on until it was time to go. For most of the time, the shuffling of paper filled the air, pens scribbling back and forth as you write in a neat cursive all the details from the Birches visit.
“Do you want to get lunch?” Loki breaks the silence after an hour because he was starting to get hungry. He glanced over at you, still writing his own report, to get an answer.
“Not that fucking Chinese place.” You tell him and he laughs a little, a foreign sound to most of the officers and staff of the precinct but not unfamiliar to you.
“Fine, how about hooters then?” He asked, even though he knew the reaction he would get from you.
“I want to think your kidding but I don’t think you are. You would much rather spend your time drinking a beer on the clock and stare at some waitress’ tits than paperwork, I’d rather sit in the car as it plunges into a lake.” You say and continue writing notes, not giving him the satisfaction of letting him see the disgust on your face.
“They’ve got some good fucking food though, no?” He laughs and puts his work down, setting in the back seat.
“No, they don’t.” You continue writing.
“I wasn’t talking about the burgers...” He trails off, looking over at you and you slapped his arm, finally looking at his face. He was amused, rubbing his arm where you had hit him.
“You’re a fucking pig, you know that?” You say and scoff at him, shaking your head. You put the cap on the pen and throw the paperwork in the back just as he did before.
“Lighten up, I was just joking. I’ll run into Phil’s and get us some sandwiches.” He tells you and starts the car, beginning to drive off. Phil’s was your favorite sandwich place in all of Conyers, as it was the only place to make their bread fresh every day and boy, was it worth it. You sigh, feeling a little guilty for making a scene of something you should have known was a joke.
“Sorry I hit you.” You apologize and he glances over at you but keeps his eyes mostly on the road.
“If I was a woman and I was jealous, I would act the same way.” He comments and you scoff again, crossing your arms in front of you.
“I am not jealous.”
“Yes, you are.” He counters and it was like a high school fight, which slightly annoyed you even more.
“No I am not! Of who, a hooters waitress whose only job is to get more tips the further her boobs hang out of her shirt? Yes, extremely jealous of that...” You say sarcastically and shake your head at him.
“Explain the waitress at the Chinese place then? I saw the way you looked at her, like you want to beat her face off.” He reminds you but you countered him with a different perspective.
“She was giving me dirty looks, obviously infatuated with you, she didn’t even bother to ask if I was done and she had taken my plate away, rude if you ask me.” You tell him and look ahead, the long road into town seemed never ending.
“Infatuated with me? Now that I know that I might go ask her on a date.” He says and you bite your tongue, holding back some words that shouldn’t really come out at any time.
“Fine.” You settle on instead and he straightens up in his seat.
“Fine.” He replies and neither of you say another word for a while. Suddenly he pulls over the car and steps on the break. You brace yourself with your hands on the dash and look over to him incredulously, he remained looking forward with his hands on the wheel. You had almost got whiplash from the sheer force of him stepping on the breaks and that flabbergasted you, he had never done anything like that before.
“What the fuck! You fucking-” You were cut off by him smashing his lips onto yours, his hand coming up to the back of your neck to pull you closer, tilting your head back a bit to get you to open up, so he could deepen the kiss, which he did. After a few moments you pulled back and looked down before you were tempted to kiss him again.
“We said that-” You began but he cut you off quickly.
“I know what I fucking said and it was a mistake. I went home yesterday and, Jesus fucking Christ, I couldn’t think or sleep straight and the only thing that was on my mind was you. I can’t shake the feeling as much as I wish I could.” He explained and you shook your head, not looking up and over at him, instead, pulling away from where he had pulled you in and looking the opposite direction.
“We could lose our jobs, Loki. I don’t think now is the best time to be thinking, talking, or doing anything about this.” You tell him.
“You tell me- no, if you can tell me with one hundred percent certainty that you have not thought about what happened and wanted more, then I’ll leave it alone.” He challenges you and you shake your head, not replying because you can’t answer it.
You did think about what happened. You think about it all the time.
It was Halloween, the precinct was holding a party for the employees who had to work and it got everyone to break out of their daily grinds and relax a bit.
You had been chatting with some of your female co-workers near your desk most of the night, catching up on the office gossip so many of them chatted about during the day. During any other occasion, you would have avoided that conversation, sneaking away to chat with someone knew while they gossiped about everyone. But you decided to stay for this one.
“Did you hear about Brad? He’s getting fired next week for getting caught with taking alcohol bottles from the property room.” Sheila, O’Malley’s secretary whispers to the group and several of them were interested in that story.
“No, really!?” Cathy gasped and looked at Brad from across the room. He was openly enjoying a beer, conveniently talking with Loki at the moment, who seemed to be enjoying his time.
“God Loki is so fucking hot.” Sarah, a technician said as she sipped her wine, all the other ladies seemingly agreed, making you feel uncomfortable after all, he was your partner.
“You’re really lucky you get to spend all day with him, Y/n. Have you ever thought, about... well you know...” Sarah raised her eyebrows up and down suggestively and you looked over at Loki and back at her. She seemed to think that was a response when it wasn’t what you were going to say to her. She grinned and pushed on your arm a little, the other girls smiled and giggled like they were in middle school. It made you want to scream.
“Has anything happened?! I mean, has he ever tried anything?” She smiled brightly and big at you and you put your drink down on your desk, straightening out your blazer and clearing your throat before turning to her with a serious look on your face.
“One, I don’t want to lose my job by having an affair with my partner, and two, why would I ever tell you something personal like that? I don’t know you. All I know is that you love to gossip and as soon as I say something that would interest you, you would spread it all over the office.” You tell her with a look that made her rather uncomfortable, as well as the other women who had been standing by the two of you. They didn’t have anything to say to protect Sarah.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean it-”
“Yes, yes you did. If you’re so desperate for attention, why don’t you go an interrupt him and see if he’ll talk to you.” You almost challenge her. You wanted to see her crumble and make a fool out of herself in front of him, but she didn’t seem to take the comment for a joke, she had looked back you then him and set her own drink next to where yours had been.
“Alright, there’s no harm in trying.” She said and smiled at the girls, her curly blonde hair swaying with her body as she tried to look appealing to him as she made her way to Loki and Brad.
Brad was the first to notice she was coming, smiling to her and giving her a wave which she kindly returned. You couldn’t see her mannerisms or what exactly she was saying from your spot, but you could read Loki and Brad’s reactions. Brad was entranced by her, infatuated by her beauty and Loki, was also receiving her well. Giving her a few smiles, which rarely happened, and laughing at her jokes.
It made your blood boil and it was the first time you felt any kind of jealousy when another woman talked to him. It ate you alive from the inside. You crossed your arms as you watched more intently. Some of the other women were watching you and Sarah and Loki, waiting for something to happen, their eyes darting between the three of you for good drama.
Loki was sitting on top of a table, while Brad had stood next to him. Whatever Loki had said to Brad made him move and go back into the break room where there had been treats and booze, leaving Sarah and Loki alone. Sarah then glanced back at you and the other women and smirked, her hand suddenly resting on Loki’s knee, which just sent you over the edge. You moved around the women to grab your coat off the chair and grabbed your keys, the chair spinning in harsh circles as you yanked it off and headed for the exit. Loki was away from Sarah and walking towards you as you stormed out of the front of the precinct and into your car, Loki calling your name as he got outside.
“Wait a second, hold on, hold on!” He yelled as you started the car and he tapped on the window. You hesitated for a second before rolling down the window and he leaned down to look at you inside.
“Is something wrong? You made quiet the scene back there...” He asked and you flicked on your car lights.
“No. Go back inside. I’m sure you have someone waiting.” You said and backed up your car, him yelling wait over and over until you were fully backed up and put your car in park.
“Can we just talk about this? Jesus Christ...” He pushed his hair back into place and you sighed, rubbing a hand over your own eyes in frustration. You shouldn’t be feeling the way you do about him.
“I’m going home... just go back inside.” You tell him and he shakes his head at you, standing literally in front of your car so you can’t move. He moves from the front to the passenger side door and tries to open it but its locked.
“Open the door.” He demanded almost harshly but it was because he was starting to grow angry with the lack of communication. You waited a minute before opening the door. He got in and you sped off, toward the direction of your home.
“What the fuck was that? You embarrassed yourself back there.” He said and huffed at you and you gripped the wheel tighter.
“I made an embarrassment of myself? Sarah fucking Michaels was trying to fuck you in front of the precinct and I made a fool of myself? You’ve got to be shitting me...” You yelled and his eyes furrowed in frustration.
“She wasn’t trying to fuck me; she was just flirting.” He said and you laughed and shook your head.
“She was trying to make me jealous, motherfucker! Fuck!” You yelled again and truly couldn’t believe you were acting this way and how Sarah got under your skin, but your blood was boiling over and the anger just kept spewing out of you.
“You’re jealous of Sarah Michaels trying to get in my pants?” He asked you and you bit the inside of your lip but luckily you were pulling inside of your driveway when he asked it so you quickly got out of the car and headed toward the house. He exited also, hurrying after you grabbing your upper arm when you were trying to unlock the door.
“You’re fucking jealous... Y/n...” He said quietly and you unlocked the door, trying to avoid his gaze. You turned back, holding you hand out and resting it on the frame so he couldn’t get in.
“I think you should leave.” You tell him and he rests his hands on his belt that his badge had always been clipped to.
“I think we should talk about this, don’t you?” He asked you and you shook your head at him.
“No... I don’t think we should.”
“Y/n, I-”
“Please leave.” You almost whisper and look at him, he can see emotion start building up in your eyes, like you were going to cry at any minute.
“I don’t want to leave.” He said and then pushed open the door, which your grip had loosened and you let him. He closed the door behind him and stood in front of you. The entry way was dark, no lights were on and the moon peeking through the windows only lit the house so well. He stood too close, closer than he should have and then it happened. He reached his hands to the back of your neck and pulled you into a searing kiss, which escalated quickly.
And then it happened. You couldn’t think of anything else for a week before it happened again, and then another time. Those three times were the only times you got a decent sleep with no medication or booze involved.
You should have realized he still thought about it when he mentioned it when he picked you up yesterday morning, you passed it off to deal with the kidnapping.
After the third time, he realized what you both had done and knew it was risking both of your jobs so he decided to not see you anymore. You agreed even though it hurt you when he walked out the door the next day.
It had been over a month since that happened and you thought about it every day.
“We need to find those girls.” That’s what you told him instead of telling him how you really felt. You needed to find those girls, for both of your sakes.

Too Much Love Can Kill You
Summary: Soul marks are found through touch and song, one must sing to find their half and touch completes their connection. To reject your mark is to sentence them to death. you have been on tour with Brian, Roger and Rufus for a year and have known them for nearly four. What happens when you find out along the way that you are the mark of one Brian May?
Tumblr media
Previously:
You went to get out of his grasp when he pulled you to him once more.
“What is it Bri?” You ask when a look of wonder and adoration appeared on his face.
Brian stared full on at his love making yet another promise to himself and you to show you every single day that he does indeed love you. He ran his fingers lightly up your spine causing you to shiver and pressed a kiss to your lips.
Pulling back a loving smile lit up his face and whispered, “Hello Sweetie.”
Prologue – Chapter 1 – Chapter 2 – Chapter 3 – Chapter 4 – Chapter 5 – Chapter 6
Chapter 7
Attention! Unprotected sex in this chapter! You have been warned. Remember wrap it before you tap guys!!
You giggled at the shared reference and pressed your foreheads together.
Brian held you close for a moment longer before reluctantly letting you go.
Unknown to you, Roger had at least taken your pants off as he prepared you for bed. Meaning Brian was getting an eye full of your back side and a full view of your body.
You aren’t insecure about your body, usually you work it like nothing else. But now under the gaze of your mark, you can’t help but feel yourself blush shyly as you cover your chest despite not a moment ago having been all for him taking your bra off.
Brian who had slept in his clothing from the day before stood and  stretched before making his way to you.
“There’s no need to be nervous my dear,” he said gently reaching or one of your hands.
You nod with a small shrug before letting your other hand fall.
He placed the index finger of his free hand under your chin gently pushing your head up to meet his gaze.
“You are gorgeous,” he said running his thumb over your cheek a glassy look in his eye as he gave you a half grin.
You blush prettily and shake your head.
“Quit with the look May,” you say giving him a playful shove, “Let’s not start something we won’t be able to finish.”
He chuckled at that before tugging at your hips to pull your body close to his.
“Brian we need to go,” you say with a tinkling laugh.
Brian gave a low hum before letting you go.
Thankfully there wasn’t all that much stuff to put away and their gear was all in the plane. Meaning they made it to the flight with enough time to sit down calmly and no heart attacks.
The Taylor men nodded to each other and set to do their jobs as Papa Bear and Brother Bear. Rufus made you his mission while Roger cornered, none-too gently, Brian not too long after they went airborne.
You gave Rufus a look knowing exactly what the father/son duo was doing.
“Don’t you think this is unnecessary?” You asked crossing your arms and legs.
“Yes and no,” Rufus said with a small laugh as he sat on the seat across from you, “Yes because he already knows what’ll happen to him if a repeat of yesterday and last night were to happen. And what will happen if you’re not happy.”
You gave him a cocky grin and kick his shin.
Rufus laughed with a yelp and stood to sit on the chair to your right before saying, “We just want you happy (Y/N).”
“And I will be...we will be,” you say with emphatically, “After we finish our talk...to which this morning was an amazing beginning to.”
“No...nope....shut up, I’m not listening,” Rufus said loudly putting his hands over his ears, “I do not need to listen to how you and the man I consider my uncle got frisky. I do NOT need that visual.”
You were out right laughing by now at his reaction and couldn’t help how things seemed to be looking up finally.
Meanwhile with the old married couple...
Brian held back a sigh as Roger repeated what he would do to him should he hurt you...for the fourth time. But he let his oldest friend regale him with warning after warning should his little girl get hurt or worse.
“She’s like one of my little girls and while I understand better than most what and why last night occurred. As a father, a repeat will not be as easily understood or negotiated with,” Roger said sounding very much like a Papa Bear at that moment, “Now, it’s not me you should be worried about mate. I know you’ll treat her well like your very own Queen I gather, but her mama bear won’t be as understanding and will come shooting first then asking questions at your corpse.”
Brian’s eyes widened at that.
“Sarina’s coming...?” He asked.
“She’s already waiting for us at the next hotel,” Roger said with an affirmative, “And while our relationship has lasted the tests and jumps of time and love you like a brother...I love my bullocks too and they need to stay where they are away from firing range.”
Brian laughed out right at that before saying, “Always did have more balls than brains at time Rog. But I understand where you and Sar are coming from. (Y/N) was more than a little adamant when she said that she knew and understood why my knee jerk reaction was to ‘set her free’ onto the world.”
Roger nodded with his own chuckle.
“Any last words before my mark and wife leave you dead and in a manhole?” Roger said teasingly.
“That she’ll put up with me should a curl be singed,” You say as you come to them.
Brian blushed at your blunt defense of him despite his guilt and thoughts that he deserves whatever Sarina has in store for him.
Roger lifted his hands up in a sign of surrender and said, “I know more than anyone that you will be each other’s champion. I also know that you will bite the head off anyone that says Bri’s done anything he shouldn’t. After all he isn’t the first man to have doubts about himself and the bond.”
The foursome nodded in sad silence as each remember the state he was in when Sarina first came to be in his life.
“Mama bear will be more worried than angry I think,” You say hopefully, “And if she is angry it will probably be at the fact that you old biddies are have more things in common than Siamese twins.”
The group laughs and soon settle into their respective seats with entertainment to pass the time they were flying.
Brian and you sat near the back away from the Taylor boys enough to give a semblance of privacy so they could bond further. Granted what you wanted to bond over was your application to join the Mile High Club. You couldn’t do that with the knowledge that your pseudo-father and brother were only a few feet away.
You settled into your seat tucked into Brian’s side a book on your lap feeling more at peace than you had in a long time.
Brian sat with his arm around your shoulders and chin on your head gazing out the plane window deep in thought. He thought about what their future held, if the myths surrounding soul marks held truth and if children were something you were interested in having. He wasn’t sure if he could raise at his age but promised to keep an open mind and heart.
“I can hear you thinking love,” You say not averting your eyes from your book.
“Hmm?”
“You worry too much,” you say kindly, “Don’t think too much of what will or won’t happen when we haven’t reached those bridges yet. Give the universe a chance to plan our course before you decide it’s a good idea to jump ass first into the supernova please?”
He laughed at your analogy and nodded. You’re right, he should just let things play out. So far...things haven’t gone bad. If you forget how it started that is.
Landing came and went as did their drive to the hotel. And you couldn’t help the nervousness that held onto you as you approached the hotel lobby.
“All will be fine, you’ll see,” Rufus said with a smirk and wink.
You give him a nod not quite believing him but had faith that things would indeed be alright.
“I hope to God this suite is a bit more...spread out than the last one,” you say to yourself as you wait in the VIP seating area for checking in to be done.
“What needs to be more spread out?” A familiar voice said from the entry way behind you.
You looked up to find Sarina there with a wide smile on her face and open arms.
You wasted no time jumping out of your seat and into her open arms.
“Oh my lovely,” Sarina said into your temple as she held you tight in her embrace, “Are you alright? No pain? Bleeding? You don’t look deathly pale or on the verge of death.”
You gave Sarina a lopsided kind grin letting the older woman give her a look over.
“Sar...” You say pulling her hands away from where they landed on your cheeks,  “I’m fine really.”
Sarina gave her what could only be described as a mom look as concern and worry rolled into one, “Yes you’re fine now but you need more than a night’s rest to fully recuperate. You may need to sit this concert out just so that you can be one hundred percent later on dear after all flying after an ordeal such as yours can be taxing to one’s health.”
You resisted the urge to roll your eyes when a warm feeling to you over. A mum...this related nice, really nice.
“Sarina I promise I’m fine,” you say with a little laugh, “And if I have to sit this concert out I will, I’m down not out.”
Sarina stopped her mother and gave you a worried grin before pressing a loving kiss to your forehead.
“I just worry,” she said honestly, “When Rog said you were going through your own hurts with your bond and mark I...”
“I know,” you say stopping her gently, “It’s why I’m so glad, if not a bit worried myself, that you’re here but also relieved.”
Sarina gave you one last strong hug before pulling away.
You both looked at the door when you heard it close. You couldn’t have been more pleased that the VIP seating area was void of people but them because when a mother bear is pissed...She. Is. Pissed.
“You!” Sarina said anger coloring her voice.
Brian looked like the epitome of a deer caught in the headlights as both Taylor men ducked for cover from the rampaging blonde.
“How could you have been so stupid!?” She yelled standing nearly toe to toe with Brian, “How could you have not felt it!? How dare you even consider the very idea of rejecting her before thinking it through and approaching her! That girl adores you Brian! It’s been more than a little clear even before you sang your song with her.”
You blushed at that and looked at a particularly interesting point on the ceiling as the three men present give you a curious look. This did not deter Sarina however as she continued on.
“And if it weren’t for the fact that I’ve walked in her shoes and know what its like your guitar playing, start catching arse you’d be minced meat by now! Honestly what is it with you musicians and your inability to think!” Sarina let out showing them that she indeed was more pissed off at the similar situation than at Brian directly, for now at least.
She stopped for a moment and took a deep breath before saying one final thing, “Just take care of her Brian please...She means a lot to us and our family.”
‘Us’ didn’t need to be elaborated on. The Taylor family all unanimously voted on adopting her a bit a go so it really isn’t a surprise or shock that the horde are being mentioned.
Her piece said Sarina made her way to the Taylor men, who were peering over the back of the sofa they were hiding behind, hands on her hips.
Neither man moved but a not so subtle nudge from Rufus to Roger had the older drummer stand up as he cleared his throat.
“Hey doll,” Roger said with a bright smile ready to pass it off but was stopped by a very angry wife.
“Hey,” she says clearly hot impressed, “One of ours nearly dies and all you can say is ‘hey’!? Whatever happened to talking it out? You promised that none of ours would go through what we did. That they wouldn’t have to experience that pain.”
“Sar—”
“Did it ever occur to you to start the processes when the truth came to light?” She asked crossing her arms over her chest.
Roger sighed deeply as remorse settled in his heart, he hadn’t even thought to at least plant the seed that there would be a chance in his friend’s head, “No it didn’t.”
“Sarina,” You said having had enough of the tongue lashing, “It’s not their fault, its mine.”
All heads turned to you. Three in surprise at your admission while the last looked at you in shock.
You took a deep breath and said, “I knew Brian was my mark. I unknowingly wrote our song during tour.”
“And when did this happen?” Sarina asked neutrally.
“Year and a half ago,” you say without batting an eye.
“You...You’ve known for a year and a half and didn’t say anything!?” Sarina said loudly, “Why? Why not tell him? Us? Do we mean—”
“Stop right there Sarina,” Roger said voice hard, “Do not even finish that question.”
Sarina looked ready argue but stopped at the look on your face. Horror set in as she realized what she had almost said.
“(Y/N)—” she began.
“Can we go to our rooms now?” You ask quietly going to pick up your bag.
“Sure,” Rufus said but was stopped by Brian pulling you to his side and out of the room without a second glance at the Taylors.
Rufus for his part hadn’t (and would’t) say a thing as he sent his stepmother a glare before making his way out.
“How could you say that?” Roger said in disbelief, “We’ve known that girl for four years Sarina. Four fucking years! We’ve cared for her and she of us in those years. I get that your angry and have a right to be but is it enough to question her affection to us?”
With his piece said, he left the lounge coat in hand and out the door. He needs to clear his head.
Rufus landed at the bar mentally reeling but at the same time planning to maybe stay out for a while letting you and Brian...bond. He resisted the cough that rose in his throat at the thought but sent a silent ‘cheers’ to them as he drank from his beer.
In the suite, which is absolute bigger and more spread out than the last one, you and Brian found a room and practically isolated yourselves. Brian sat you both down not the bed waiting for...something.
“I’m not going to burst Brian,” you said giving him a small smile, “I’m hurt yes but nothing she and I won’t talk about when I feel up to talking to her.”
He nodded and took a deep nose dive into your shared bond. He gasped when he felt you meet him halfway.
You gave him a smirk and stood up front he bed to stand in front of him between his legs.
You felt Brian’s fingers go around your waist and pull you to him before he wrapped his arms around you and pressed his face into your middle.
One of your hands played with a stray curl while the other caressed his hair and cheek softly.
The pair of you spend a moment reacquainting yourselves with each other and a space to yourselves. The moment is bliss to you both as a new dawn and hope for the future brings a clarity you didn’t know you needed.
A stop your ministrations when a sudden thought, more of a memory really, comes to mind.
“You know...I promised you in not so many words that we could start things once we were settled,” you say quietly hoping you don’t sound as nervous as you feel.
Brian looked up at you in surprise before a kind smile and boyish twinkle took over. Oh how he wanted to take you right then and there. But he would follow your lead...for the moment anyway.
He gave you a nod and ran rather suggestive hands down your jean clad hips before settling on your bottom. A hand on each cheek occasionally giving them a firm yet appreciative squeeze savoring the firm fullness they had when in your pants.
You hummed and pushed back before pulling his hands away and stepping just out of his reach.
“Let me close and lock the door in case any visitors decide it’s a good idea to just barge in,” you say and do just that before standing just a little over his arm’s length away him and ever so tantalizingly slowly (slow to him at least) began the process of taking of your clothes.
Your pants were first being the most tedious and unsexy, in your opinion. You turned to your side giving him the right view of what he has become a favorite part of you. Your panties left nothing to the imagination but held you just right, a lovely fat bottomed girl indeed. And what a lovely one it is...
You can practically hear the thoughts as he feels and thinks them and feel a surge of confidence course through you and you give him (what you hope is) a sultry grin. You went to take off your underwear when he says, “Don’t.”
You look at him a curious look on your face.
He swallowed thickly and said, “I...I want to be the one to take them off.”
You grin genuinely at him and nod going to stand between his legs once more.
His hand automatically when to your hips and butt causing you to giggle when he landed gentle slap to a cheek. He reached to the waistline of your underwear ready to take them off when you stop him.
“This alright?” He asked checking in with you when you stopped him.
“Yes it is, this is more than alright actually,” you say with a soft giggle, “You haven’t done anything wrong my love its just...I have a bit of a surprise for you is all.”
“Oh?” He said in wonder.
You took his hands and placed them at your hips and slowly began to guide his hands upward under your baggy cardigan. First your back then down again to your bottom. You guided his hands over your tummy and middle where he gave you an experimental squeeze to discover you are more than a little ticklish.
You saw he was going to do it again and lean into his ear to whisper,“You do that a second time my love and you will not get your present.”
He chuckled at that and let you take control of his hands again.
You place his hands flat on your tummy and move them upward.
Brian gasped in surprise as the tips of his fingers met the bottom of your bare breasts.
“Oh,” he sighed his heated gaze looking hungrily at you, “You are a remarkable tease my dear.”
You giggle and lowered your face to meet his, being mindful not to move his hands from their current position, and pressed a loving and equally teasing kiss on his lips.
Brian tried to move his hands itching to feel your breasts in his hands.
“No no no...no touching yet my dear,” you say into his ear before taking his lobe tenderly between your teeth giving it a gentle tug.
He gave a gasp and barely stifled moan before seeking out your lips for a passionate kiss.
Your brain when murky as arousal began to set in and you found yourself yearning for more. Pulling away from both his lips and his hands, you pulled your shirt over your head to reveal the rest of your bare body to him and resisted the urge to cover yourself as he let out gasp and stared at your bare chest.
Your dominant streak gone; you couldn’t help but feel a bit shy as he appraised you.
Brian stood and approached you slowly, not wanting to frighten you, and reached for one of your hands.
“You mean to tell me you flew all the way here bare chested for me?” he said stroking the back of your hand with his thumb.
You nod as you stare at the chest exposed due to his open shirt.
“Hey,” he said gently pulling your face up with his free hand, “If I’d known we’d have changed the air pressure of that plane cabin.”
You laugh at that and give him a gentle shove before saying, “And then Roger would have pushed you out.”
“Most likely,” he said with his own chuckle.
You looked up to him a bright look on your face as you grin at him widely before stepping closer to him. You took his other hand and placed them on your hips.
“Can I…” You say not really knowing how to express what you want.
He nodded his face gentle giving you the go ahead but made a silent note to make a list of things they work on at a later date.
You put your hands flat on his chest your mind going a mile of where you wanted to start.
Brian saw this and said, “There’s no need to rush…we have all the time in the world.”
You gave him a grateful nod and move to finish unbuttoning his shirt before braving his belt buckle and pants.
Those out of the way as he stepped out and kicked them to the side you couldn’t help the light laughter that filtered out from you as you got an eyeful of his chosen underwear.
“What?” He asked looking down and realized what had caused such a reaction from you with an unimpressed, “Oh.”
“Dr. Brian May guitar legend” You say kindly with a loving shake of your head, “Space and guitar decorated briefs.”
“What?” He asked again disgruntled feeling his insecurities bubble just beneath, were you going to mock him for this like so many had in the past?
He couldn’t have been more wrong.
“My love is both smart and talented,” you say sounding both pleased and impressed, “I certainly cannot wait to see what Dr. May can teach me.”
“Oh really?” He says his attention now peaked, “And when would Ms. (Y/L/N) be interested?”
“In you? Always,” you say honestly standing on your toes to press a kiss to his lips, “In more exploratory play in bed? Later. Tonight, is about us.”
His heart melted at that and answered by pulling you flush against him before thoroughly kissing you. He ran the tip his tongue over your bottom lip asking for permission.
You opened your mouth lightly to him allowing your tongues to play eliciting the most delicious moans and mews from you as you kissed.
Hands began to roam as the kissing continued. Brian ran his hands over your bare back from your shoulders to your bottom, giving that an affectionate squeeze every so often a long with your thigh. Your front would get his attention in due course.
You ran your hands over his chest letting your fingers get tangled in the dusting of hair there before going to his back about the waist to keep as much of your balance as you could while you kissed your fingers playing at the waistband of his briefs.
He knew what you wanted but was too shy to do so decided to pull you forward as he walked backward to the bed.
Sitting down, he pulled you by your thighs to straddle his lap. The height adjustment allowing him to be level with your chest.
“Well what do we have here?” He asked with false wander before taking one of your nipples into his mouth.
You pressed your chest to his face and pushed your fingers into his hair as you let out a loud moan at the sensations that coursed through you at the feel of his tongue lapping at your nipple and the wetness of his lips as he sucked it in to his mouth.
He added to your pleasure by palming your other breast and running his thumb over your nipple until both were stiff peaks and you were breathless with this action alone.
“More, Bri, more,” you moaned.
“Patience my dear,” he said and with surprising strength flipped you onto the bed.
He pulled away and kissed a path down to your center.
“Bri, what…” You started but gasped at the feel of his fingers on your mound.
“Need you wet first my love,” he said before using the thumb and index finger of his left hand to spread your lips open gently.
You were ready to answer something but moaned at the feeling of a finger going from your clit to your entrance.
Brian smirked to himself as he heard the noises coming from you and teased your entrance as he ran his tongue over your clit eliciting more moaned gasps as he went. As soon as he is certain you are wet enough for him, he inserts a finger making you freeze where you lay at the feel of it.
You moaned and called his name out over and over as he started to pump his finger adding another as he went. Your moans got louder at that and started to move your hips in tandem with his pumping fingers adding to the friction and building feeling of pleasure.
Brian, who still wore a smirk, leaned in again and instead of licking, he halted his movements to adjust his position so your legs were pinned restricting your movements before taking your bud in his mouth and sucked away at it like a starving man.
Your moans turned to mewled pants as he sucked away at your clit burying your fingers in his curls again as he licked and sucked away at your clit. You felt him curve his fingers and moaned as his long fingers found your spot, the one you couldn’t seem to find without the aid of a toy, which in effect sent wave after wave of pleasure through you and the tell-tale feeling of your orgasm building. The joint sensations of him licking and sucking your clit and pumping in and out of you hitting your spot over and over pushed you over the edge. You moaned his name out and gasped it over and over as his movements continued riding you through your orgasm.
You slump on the bed breathing hard as he kisses his way up your body once again.
Before he reaches your face though he stands with a quiet excuse me to give his mouth a rinse.
You lay there and wonder what he tastes like mixed with your juices, but let him give his mouth a rinse. Tonight is about fevered touches and fervent kisses, more exploration could and will be done after tour is over.
He walked out of the bathroom palming his (rather prominent) erection. You tasted delicious and the temptation to drink from you is strong. But he resisted until his gaze met that of your naked form laying atop the bed covers still breathing laboriously after the events that just occurred. The fact that you are there naked and ready for him made him momentarily forget about eating you out and bring to the forefront his need to be buried inside you to finally, in his mind, bring your bond full circle.
In a swift move he removed his briefs and climbed onto the bed beside you.
You weren’t inexperience my any means, porn is and has been a thing in your life, not to mention the fumbles you had in high school and college. But that didn’t stop the shock from seeing him bare for the first time.
You knew he’d be big, but you never considered or questioned if...he’d fit.
Brian saw the worry and said, “We are going to take this as fast or slow as you need.”
You nod and shift to lay on your back before pulling him on top of you opening your legs to accommodate him.
“Hello,” he says voice gravely as he takes a moment to look at you.
“Hey,” you say as a feeling of want shoots through you and an anxious ache form in your core.
You wrapped your arms around his middle to his back and pull him into a feverish kiss as one of his hands pulls one of your legs over his hip pressing your centers together eliciting a breathy moan as you continued to kiss.
Brian pulled away slightly, “If you feel anything wrong say the word and we’ll stop.”
You nod through your haze of arousal grateful for his consideration of her but couldn’t help the feeling of need that urged you to press your hips to his.
“My gent of a mark,” you say with a breathy laugh and reach to press another kiss on his lips before saying, “Now do your mark a favor and make love to her please.”
“With pleasure,” he said and lined himself up to your entrance before filling you in a swift shift of his hips.
You gasped in surprise at how full you felt and did your best to stay still till you got used the feeling and the discomfort ebbed away. Your bond sang as the physical pleasures
You clenched your walls making Brian moan and blushed as he looks at you through heated eyes.
“You keep doing that my dear and I won’t last long,” he said breathlessly before gasping as you started moving your hips experimentally.
He groaned again and fell into a gentle sway with the movements of your hips.
“More,” you moaned as he increased his pace and before long the both of you were a groaning moaning mess.
Your hands went from his shoulders to his bums spurring him on. He reached down to your clit and started rubbing circles on it with his thumb. The joint sensation of his finger on your clit and him moving in and out of you made for an intoxicating combination and before you registered it your second orgasm began to build. Unbeknownst to you so was Brian’s.
The tempo increased and soon you found yourself hurtling over the edge with a moaning Brian not far behind. Brian fell on top of you breathing hard.
Your arms caressed the expanse that is his back and shoulders enjoying the feel of his weight on you.
After a moment to calm his quick beating heart, Brian went to shift but was stopped by you.
“Don’t,” you say then press a kiss to his shoulder.
He chuckled at your attempts to keep him where he was on top of you and moved your arms to that he could at least shift half of his body off yours.
“I just found you darling,” he said as he shifted, “I don’t fancy turning you into a pancake.”
You pouted at that and let him go so he could stand.
Brian went to the bathroom to clean himself up and came back with a wet rag to clean you up. That done, you stand and help him pull back the bed covers and fixing the pillows for them before getting on the bed sans the covers feeling exhaustion take you over.
Brian chuckled seeing what you’d done and went got in next to you pulling the covers over you both before pulling you onto his chest.
“I liked the feel of you on me,” you say sleepily as you snuggle into his chest.
“I could tell,” he said running the hand that is holding you to him, “I like this better though.”
You looked up at him with a cocked brow and questioning, “Oh?”
“All I’ve wanted to do since our bond was completed is hold you, hold on to you more like, and never let you go,” he said giving your shoulder a squeeze as he pulled you to him, “As I’ve said before...I just found you.”
You hum and throw an arm around his middle holding him close as well.
“I wish we’d gotten a different song,” you say lightly, “Not that I don’t love the one we got...”
“Oh, and what song were your thinking of?” He asked curiously.
“Hmm, ‘39,” you said giggling at the look he sent you, “What, I love that song.”
“I might just ask you to sing it for me sometime,” he said with a laugh, “But why not a happier song?”
You gave a hum and said, “Las Palabras de Amor.”
Brian pulled you in laughing quietly as he pulled you close and into a languidly loving kiss.
Things were starting to get heated again when they heard banging on the wall behind them followed by moaning.
“Shit,” Brian muttered.
You gave a laugh knowing it was Rog and Sarina having a much needed reunion...and angry makeup sex.
“Come on dad!” Rufus yelled, “Some of us need sleep.”
You shared a laugh and groaned when Brian made to get up.
“I know what to do when he gets that loud,” he said and stood to put on his underwear and a hotel bathrobe.
You went to do the same and both were met by a really disgruntled and tipsy Rufus.
“At least you two were quiet,” he said with a slight lilt in his voice, “They’ve been at it for a while.”
You and Brian shared a look and made a mental note to look at the time, but until then...Brian set to work on getting his best mate and mark to royally shut up.
“Rog, some of us are trying get some shut eye from the flight,” Brian said after knocking forcefully on the door.
The trio got no response from that expect the pair in the room getting louder.
Brian knocked harder and said, “Either you pipe down or your youngest will know what her da did behind the curtain with the so called “wind fans”!”
You and Rufus shared an eye widened, jaw dropping look which would have turned to a laughing one based on how quick Roger was to come to the door.
“You wouldn’t,” Roger said opening the door naked as the day he was born.
“Oh god,” you say and make a point at looking at the ceiling.
Rufus went beet red and did the same as you.
Brian, having seen his fare share of dicks on the road, was not at all affected by Roger’s state of undress and said, “Try me...now keep it down. Tomorrow we might have a day off but we ramp up again with rehearsals in the evening till half passed and again for half the day after that.”
The only word that came to mind was grumpy in relation to how he was staring up at Brian.
“Fine...” he said giving in before cheekily stating, “At least we both got some...”
“Um...bye,” you say and nearly run to your bedroom.
You shimmied out of the bathrobe and loosely put on Brian’s shirt before doing a super simplified version of your night time routine and getting in bed after taking off the shirt.
You had just gotten comfortable when Brian walked in two cups precariously balancing in one hand as he closed the door with the other.
“What’s this?” You ask with a grin.
“A celebratory drink,” he said handing you the tumbler filled with a bubbly drink.
“For getting Roger to shut up?” You say cheekily before taking a drink from the cup and humming in surprise, “Rosé? How did you know its my favorite?”
“Just a feeling I guess,” he said with a shrug and half grin before taking off the robe and getting back in bed with you.
You nod knowing they had a lot to learn of each other and their bond. But they have the rest of their lives to do so. So you settled beside him to enjoy your drink.
“To us?” He said raising his glass.
“To our future,” you replied touching your glass to his.

BTS Pregnancy Series #2: Finding Out/Telling Him
6 to 8 weeks, or one and a half to two months, pregnant.
Kim Seokjin
Tumblr media
“Fine! Leave me then, you fucking jerk!” You yelled as you pushed past Jin and stormed upstairs to your bedroom. Jin flinched at your tone of voice, surprised that you were acting like this. He had just told you that the group would be doing promotions overseas for three weeks and even though you never liked to hear that he was leaving, you had never reacted this way before.
Jin took a deep breath before trudging up the stairs after you. Once he got your bedroom, he peaked inside to see you laying in the bed, crying so hard that he could see your body shaking.
“Y/N,” he whispered sadly, rushing into the room and sitting on the side of the bed that you were laying on. He laid his hand on your back and rubbed softly, which made you cry harder.
“I-I’m sorry, I-I just....J-just hate it when.....you leave,” you gasped out in between tears.
“I know you do baby. You know I hate it just as much as you do though,” He said quietly, and you nodded in agreement. “Hey jagi?”
You looked up at him as you wiped away the tears streaks from your face. “Hmm?”
“Have you taken a pregnancy test this month?” You raised an eyebrow at him, and he quickly shook his head. “I only ask because you’re really emotional. More so than normal.”
You bit your lip as you thought about it. You and Jin hadn’t been making any vigorous efforts for a while now, deciding to take a break from trying for a few months. However, there was that night some weeks ago....
“You’re right,” you tell him as you look back up at him. You both sit there in silence for a few seconds before you spring up and run into the bathroom. Opening the cabinet, you quickly grab the last pregnancy test you had and rip it open. After taking it, you quickly put the top on it and wash your hands before leaving it on the counter.
“I can’t look Jin. You go,” you shoo him into the bathroom. Smiling, he walks into the bathroom as you bite on your nail. A few seconds later, he walks back into the bedroom with a blank look on his face.
“I’m not pregnant, am I?” You asked, already feeling the disappointment set in.
“Jagiya, we’re having a baby,” he yells, smiling widely. You feel the tears immediately cloud your eyes and Jin scoops you up in a hug. “Can you believe it jagi?”
“We’re having a baby,” you whisper in disbelief, hugging Jin tightly.
Min Yoongi
Tumblr media
“Y/N, I really think that we should go to the hospital,” Yoongi muttered as you leaned over the toilet for the 6th time since you had woken up this morning. You threw your hand up as you finally felt your stomach settle for the first time all day.
Yoongi handed you some tissue and you wiped your mouth off. “No need for that Yoong,” you sighed heavily.
“Y/N, you never vomit. Not even when you have a regular cold. It might be something serious.” You tried to stand up but you were a little shaky on your feet so Yoongi quickly grabbed your arm, pulling you up.
“I know what’s wrong with me baby,” you tell him, making him raise an eyebrow. You step out of the bathroom into your bedroom and go over to your purse. You quickly pull out the pregnancy test and walk back into the bathroom with it in hand. Instead of handing it right to him, you set it on the counter and grab your toothbrush to brush your teeth.
“Y/N, what is this?” Yoongi asked as he picked up the test. You heard him inhale sharply and after you finished brushing, you wiped your mouth and turned around to look at him.
“How long have you known?” He wondered, looking up at you.
“Since yesterday. Today’s not the first time I’ve thrown up recently,” you admit, making him glare lightly at you. “Like you said, I never vomit and the more I thought about it, I realized my period was two weeks late and I just hadn’t noticed. So I took the test and,” you trail off, pointing to the stick in his hands.
“Why didn’t you tell me as soon as you found out baby?” He mutters quietly.
“I was exhausted after getting off work and you were in the studio until late. It wasn’t as if I wasn’t gonna tell you though,” you giggle. He continues to stare down at the test, mouth slightly open in surprise. “Are you happy?” You hesitantly question.
“Jagiya,” he whispers as he looks up at you. “Of course I am. Come here,” he holds his arms open and you immediately step into them, loving the warmth his body emits. “We’re having a miniature us,” he laughs.
Kim Namjoon
Tumblr media
“Holy shit,” you squealed happily, looking at the positive pregnancy test in your hand. A few weeks after you and Namjoon’s anniversary, you felt sick to your stomach and despite the conversation you and Namjoon had, something told you to take a pregnancy test.
Later that night, you were laying in bed when Namjoon finally came home from the studio. He quietly opened the door to your bedroom, trying not to make much noise but his eyes widened in surprise at seeing that you were still up.
“Hey jagi,” he smiled as he walked all the way into the room. He removed his jacket and began to work on taking his jeans off. “What are you still doing up? You’re usually knocked cold around this time.”
“Yeah, I know but I,....something happened today and I need to tell you about it,” you mumbled. After ridding himself of his pants, he walked over to the bed and laid down beside you.
“What happened? Bad day?” He playfully pouted at you, making you chuckle.
“No. Actually, it was good I think,” you smiled lightly. “Joon, I found out that I’m pregnant today.”
You’re not entirely sure what reaction you expected from him. You halfway expected him to lash out or at least be disappointed. Nothing could have prepared you though, for the large dimpled smile that spread across his face.
“Jagi, that’s amazing!” He laid himself on top of you, making you giggle in disbelief.
“Wait, you’re not upset?” You questioned.
“No. We’re having a baby, why would I be?”
“You know, the whole ‘Me and the boys are so busy’ thing,” you remind him, making him nod in realization.
“Jagi, I’ve always wanted children with you. I’m just afraid of not being around because of my job. I don’t want to leave you alone through this because you didn’t create this alone,” he sets a hand on your stomach.
“Joon,” you reach up and caress his cheek with your palm. “If I couldn’t handle this lifestyle, do you really think I would’ve agreed to even go out with you, let alone marry you?” You laugh, making him do the same. “I’ll be fine, we’ll be fine,” you tell him and he nods.
“We’re having a baby,” Namjoon smiles before leaning down to press a kiss to your lips.
Jung Hoseok
Tumblr media
“Jagi, I’m home!” You heard Hobi scream as the front door closed. You immediately froze and looked down at the pregnancy you had just taken out of the box. Hobi would pick today of all days to come home from practice early.
“Y/N?” He called and that made you unfreeze. You quickly threw the test down and walked out of the bathroom, running right into Hobi.
“Hey, there you are! I knew that you should’ve been home by now,” he smiled, wrapping his arms around your waist.
“Hi Hobi,” you said, pecking his lips softly. “How was practice?”
“Really good. So good we got out early,” he smirked. “Hey, I was thinking takeout tonight? From your favorite place?” He asked and you nodded absentmindedly.
“Hey, are you alright?” Hobi laughed. “You look really flustered and you usually would be excited about take out.”
“Huh? Yeah, I’m fine,” you smiled. Hobi raised an eyebrow and after looking at you for a few more seconds, he finally gave up.
“Alright then. I’m gonna go use the bathroom and then we can order the food,” he announced and your eyes widened.
“No!” You yelled as you blocked the doorway of the bathroom. Hobi looked at you in surprise and you realized how crazy you must’ve looked. “I mean, this bathroom isn’t clean. You should go use the guest bath.”
“Jagi, what’s going on?” He asked and you sighed heavily. There was no use in hiding this from him, especially if you turned out to be pregnant. You walked into the bathroom and he followed behind you. He looked at the counter and his face lit up in a smile.
“Jagiya, are you pregnant?” He yelled as he bounced up and down, making you giggle.
“I don’t know yet. I was about to take the test when you came home.”
“Without me?”
“I just didn’t want to get your hopes up baby,” you explained. He nodded slowly and then handed the test to you.
“You hurry and take it, I’m gonna go pee. Be right back,” he called over his shoulder as he sped walked out of the bathroom. Laughing, you quickly glanced over the instructions before using the test. Once you were done, you set it on the counter and set the timer on your phone for one minute. 45 seconds in, Hobi walked back into the bathroom.
“What took you so long?” You ask.
“I had a lot of water today,” he shrugged, making you laugh. The timer on your phone went off and you both looked down at the test. A big huge plus sign was on the front of it.
“Hobi,” you looked over at him with a huge smile on your face. He quickly picked you up, swinging you around wildly.
“We’re having a baby!”
Park Jimin
Tumblr media
You sung along as you stood backstage at the boys concert, watching them perform the last song of the night. Even though you and Jimin had been together for years now, you never got tired of watching the boys perform.
After they said goodnight to the crowd, they all ran backstage. Jimin came straight over to you, kissing you firmly.
“You did amazing baby, as usual,” you praised him, making him smile hard.
“That’s because I had you here. My good luck charm,” he winked. You smiled and were about to reply when you suddenly felt a little dizzy. You must’ve swayed in front of Jimin because he quickly grabbed ahold of your arms. “Jagi, are you alright?”
You tried to nod your head but you suddenly felt lightheaded and you leaned further into Jimin. “I-I can’t,” you tried to say when you suddenly fainted. Jimin’s eyes widened as he managed to catch you before you hit the ground.
“Can we get a medic over here please?!” Jimin screamed.
When you woke up, the bright light made you wince. You glanced around the room and realized that you were probably in a hospital. You heard the door creak open and Jimin stepped inside. He noticed that you were awake and rushed over to your side.
“Hi jagi,” he whispered softly. “How are you feeling?”
“A little nauseous,” you admitted. “What happened?”
“You fainted. We’re at the hospital now.”
“Do you know why I fainted?”
“Um, yeah actually I do,” he chuckled as a wide smile appeared on his face. “Jagi, you’re six weeks pregnant.”
“I am?” Your eyes widened in surprise. Jimin nodded and rubbed your cheek with his palm.
“You fainted because your hormones are trying to regulate themselves,” he explained.
“And the baby? It’s ok?”
“Everything’s great,” Jimin smiled. “Can you believe it Y/N? We’re having a baby.”
“Yeah we are,” you sighed happily, kissing Jimin softly.
Kim Taehyung
Tumblr media
“You really need to calm down,” you giggled at Tae as he bounced around the bedroom. After trying for one month, you decided to take a test to see if it had worked. Or more like, Tae was forcing you to.
“I can’t! We’re going to have a baby!” He exclaimed.
“Tae, we’re not sure yet,” you said as you tore into the box that held the pregnancy test inside. “My period is only late by two days.”
“I can feel it jagi,” he bounded over to you and looked over your shoulder as you read the instructions on the test. You walked over to the bathroom and turned around to tell Tae something but almost jumped out of your skin when you saw that he was right behind you, following you.
“Goodness sake’s Tae, back up!” You yell as you push against his chest. “You’re not coming in here.”
“Buzzkill,” he muttered. “Fine, I’ll be right here,” he said, pointing to the ground where he was standing. You nodded and walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind you. You quickly used the test and once you were done you washed your hands and put the cap back on the test before opening the door. Just like he said, Tae was standing the spot you’d left him in.
“So?” He asked.
“We have to wait for two minutes,” you explained, handing the test to him. He nodded and looked down at it. You walked over to the laundry basket that was sitting on the bed and proceeded to fold the clothes, which was what you had been doing before Tae ambushed you with the pregnancy test.
“Oh my gosh!” Tae exclaimed suddenly, making you drop the shirt in your hands before rushing over to him. You looked at the test and saw the word “Pregnant” on the face. You immediately felt the tears in your eyes as you looked up at Tae.
“You were right,” you giggled, still a little in disbelief. Tae scooped you up in his arms and hugged you tightly.
“We’re having a baby jagi,” he whispered happily into your ear.
Jeon Jungkook
Tumblr media
You stood in front of the bathroom counter, looking down at the three positive pregnancy tests in front of you. You just hadn’t been feeling yourself lately and something told you to take a pregnancy test, or three. You didn’t actually think you’d be pregnant though.
‘I have to tell Kookie,’ you mumbled to yourself. You quickly grabbed the tests and walked back into the bedroom. Jungkook was laying on his side turned away from you, sleeping peacefully. You felt bad knowing that you were about to wake him up but you were going to go crazy if you didn’t tell him now.
“Kook?” You whispered, climbing into the bed next to him. You placed your hand on his shoulder and shook him firmly. “Kook.”
“Mmm Y/N, leave me alone. We can have sex later,” he mumbled, making you blush and smack your teeth.
“Jeon Jungkook!” You screamed, hitting him really hard at the same time. He sprang up and looked around wildly before looking at you.
“Don’t do that to me Y/N! You scared me half to death,” he laid a hand over his heart to emphasize his point.
“I tried to wake you up nicely but you ignored me,” you shrugged. “Desperate measures had to be taken.”
“Anyways, what is so important that you had to wake me up at,” he paused to look at the clock. “7:36AM?”
“Kook,” you brought the pregnancy tests in front of you and held them up for Jungkook to see. “I’m pregnant.”
His jaw dropped and he wiped his eyes before looking closely at the tests in your hand.
“You are,” he nodded. “Wait, we’re going to have a baby,” he muttered as it started to set in. He placed a hand on your stomach and looked up at you. “Our baby is in here.”
“That’s what the test says,” you giggled. He leaned down and left a soft kiss on your belly. Once he sat up, he took the tests out of your hands and placed them on the bedside table.
“Come here baby,” he opened his arms and you laid down with him, tangling his legs with yours.
“Are you happy?” You asked. You felt him press a soft kiss to the side of your head.
“Ecstatic. It just might not seem like it because I’m still tired,” he admits chuckling. “Wait, this means I can call you my baby mama now.”
“Oh my god,” you muttered as you shook your head.

Part 1 | Part 2
Tumblr media
For the first morning, Pride had done a great job in making sure nothing felt awkward or out-of-place between you and him. It was easy, in fact; you both were still friends, despite the kissing. And it was practically second nature for him to gauge the emotions of others. To make the people around him comfortable. Yesterday, it worked.
He can’t say the same for this morning.
You both were woken up at the same time by Gregorio, who had knocked on the door to inform of a lead. There wasn’t a chance for Dwayne to wake up first and sneak out and give you space. No, this morning was spent moving past each other and attempting not to bump elbows while trying to look somewhat presentable for the work day.
And it’s left a heavy weight in Dwayne’s stomach for hours. Work did provide something of a distraction; he was able to push his feelings aside and just do the job. He and Chris drove all around the city from dawn to lunch, and really, it was nice to pretend things were how they were before the night at the bar.
But then the four of them are gathered in the kitchen for lunch - Chris says how nice it is that Sonja’s not here, so they didn’t have to have a vegan meal. Tammy chimes in to argue, saying he might not like it, but it is healthier. And then the two just argue like siblings.
Had it been a normal day, you would’ve butted into the fight and Dwayne would watch on with affection for his family. But when his eyes avert away from the food, he only sees you silent at the table, lost in thought. And Dwayne can’t do anything to change that. At least, not with Chris and Tammy here.
And it’s as if God himself hears Dwayne’s silent prayers, because a text has him checking his phone. A message from Sonja, needing some back-up on a lead. Nothing serious, but it’s enough.
“Christopher, Gregorio,” their names have both agents ceasing their argument, and Pride waves his phone, “Sonja has a lead. You two gotta drive out to her.”
Dwayne sees your head perk up in the background, but he keeps his attention on the two agents. “You’ll keep lunch warm?” Chris asks, a smile tugging on his lips as he backs away.
With a smirk and a nod of his head, they’re gone. And just like that, Dwayne’s alone with you once again.
A moment ago, time alone with you seemed like the thing Pride wanted the most. A chance to talk. But now, he finds it hard to will the words to come out. Dwayne focuses on the food because it’s easier than speaking up. Especially since you’re still silent at the table. Did you even want to discuss things?
It doesn’t matter. Dwayne already promised himself last night that he would at least try. “So, uh...” What a smooth start, that was. Pride clears his throat awkwardly, but despite a rocky beginning, you were finally looking at him. Just barely, though. It was enough. “Have you, uh, been thinkin’ things over?” He asks, and lets a couple heartbeats go by. “About Jason?”
You don’t answer right away, and Dwayne finds himself holding his breath until you shrug a single shoulder. “A little. I haven’t really decided on anything yet,” you answer lowly.
Well, at least there’s that. At least he wasn’t too late.
Your sandwich is finished, and when Dwayne motions it, you stand up and make for the bar. When you slip into the stool, he hands it over and starts one for himself. All is done in an awkward silence; Dwayne stopping and wondering if it’s really a good move to convince you to stay. That he can make you a hell of a lot happier than Jason ever did.
And you’re wondering why Pride keeps poking at this. He says because he’s worried, because you’re his friend and he doesn’t want you hurt. But for the first time, it dawns on you that your boss might have a hidden agenda. Such a possibility was hard to grasp; Dwayne Pride wore his heart on his sleeve, and hated keeping things from the people he loved.
But what else could be driving him, except for the hope that you two could maybe have more nights at the bar.
“Dwayne-”
“Y/N-”
Instantly, the both of you look up, meeting eyes but not saying much more. At least until Pride takes initiative, and he takes a deep breath. “I think it would be a mistake, going back to him,” he says, sounding more confident than he felt. You blink at his words, considering them, but Dwayne continues before you can say anything. “I know about guys like him, and he’ll just hurt you all over again. You’re my friend, and I don’t want that to happen.”
You’re my friend.
Well, looks like you have your answer.
“He wouldn’t,” you finally reply after a long few seconds of silence.
Dwayne frowns a little, leaning against the counter like he wanted to get closer, but his shoes are stuck to the ground. “And how can you be so sure?” He asks bluntly. What the hell could your reasoning be for defending him?
“Because he loves me. And he said he didn’t want to lose me.”
It was as simple as that. An answer even somebody as stubborn as Dwayne Pride could understand. Though, you could tell he’s having trouble processing it; his eyes just watch you, mouth open but saying nothing. His brows knitted in a confused frown, as if you weren’t even speaking English.
He’ll understand it eventually. “I’m gonna go. To see if Sebastian has anything,” you tell him. You stand and walk away from the half-eaten sandwich; funny, you’d been starving before. And now the thought of eating makes you feel sick.
Dwayne watches you leave, his heartbeat suddenly turning painful. And whatever he feels toward Jason, whatever animosity he has towards the other man for putting you through all this, Dwayne concedes that the two of them do have one thing in common:
They don’t want to lose you.
--
Even on the worst days, there’s something about the Tru Tone that can always make up for the hardships. The familiar music puts Dwayne at ease, and when he watches his team mingle and drink, a smile of ease comes over his face. They deserved a break, and they seemed to be getting it. Even you looked like you were having fun, laughing with Patton and Gregorio. The sight lifts the weight from Pride’s shoulders in a way he doesn’t expect.
As the night winds down, the members of his team slowly trickle out the door until it’s only you and Loretta hanging by the bar. Dwayne’s half-tempted to go over there and make idle conversation; it’s been a while since he’s been able to. But you seemed relaxed, and Dwayne doesn’t want to ruin that with any awkwardness. He’ll let Loretta keep your company.
Though, after a while, even the lively coroner needs to turn in for the night. Dwayne watches her hug you goodnight before you turn back to your drink. And it might’ve been his imagination, but Dwayne could’ve sworn his old friend looked back at him. Gave him this look, as if she somehow knew what was going on, and was scolding him for holding back. Were you talking to her about him?
Loretta disappears out the door, and Dwayne takes a breath before he saunters over nonchalantly while wiping a glass clean. “I’m surprised you’re here this late,” he comments lightly, offering a smile when you glanced up. And Pride’s words weren’t a simple ice breaker; you looked as tired as the rest of the team.
You pause before shrugging and finishing the drink in the glass. Its sharp taste causes a light wrinkle of your nose, and the sight keeps an easy smile on Dwayne’s face. “I dunno, I might turn in soon.”
He gives a curt nod, head motioning toward his coat. “Alright, well, I locked up the office before I left. So when you leave, just grab the key outta my right-”
“Actually, I was gonna stay at my place tonight,” you cut him off, voice softer than before with averted eyes. But even with the music and ambience, Dwayne hears it loud and clear. It makes him freeze, smile slowly fading. “Just to test things out, you know? See if Jason and I still work.”
The glass lowers to the counter with a sharp clink, and Dwayne catches your slight flinch at the noise. He wants to argue your decision. Ask if you’ve lost your damn mind, going back to him so easily. But would causing a fight fix anything? It may even have the opposite effect and drive you even further away.
Instead, Dwayne bites his tongue and leaves the glass on the counter to circle around the bar until he’s standing by the stool you’re in. And now, from this angle, he realizes it’s the very same stool you sat in those few nights ago. Dampened from the rain but warmed by his clothes and a glass of liquor. Dwayne remembers vividly how chilled your hand was when he touched it, and he wonders how warm it would be now.
You turn and look up at him with wide eyes, and judging by the faint blush, you realize the same thing. The familiarity of having Pride so close, towering over you but not in an intimidating way. Not with the softness of his green gaze, and how pained he looks.
“I didn’t want to say anything, because you’d just been through a bad break-up and you needed support. But honey, ever since you walked in here the other night, I can’t stop thinking about you. About what happened.” The words tumbled past his lips before Dwayne can stop them; the pure, honest truth that his heart’s been screaming at him to say but he never had the courage.
Until now. Until he was faced with losing you in the worst way possible. Dwayne sucks in a deep breath, determined to finish his thought before you can speak. “And if you really wanna to go back to him, I’ll support you, because I want you to be happy. But I don’t think he can do that, and I think you know it.”
A bold thing to say, but Dwayne believed it with every bone in his body.
There’s silence, now. The sounds of bar activity almost fade out of existence, leaving only Dwayne, his earnest green gaze, and the warm feeling of his fingers curling around your hand. Whatever happened right now, he wanted to know if the chill of your skin was really because of the rain from that night. Turns out, it was. Because your hand is as soft and warm as he expected.
You still haven’t said anything, and that worries him a little. The thought of ruining this friendship hurts almost as much as losing you to someone like Jason. But really, as soon as Dwayne pressed that little kiss to the corner of your mouth that night, the friendship was never going to be the same. He can accept that.
It was hard, accepting the fact that Dwayne was right. He’s been right all along, and you just didn’t want to hear it. Maybe it was the fear of crossing such a big line with your boss, or maybe being unwilling to leave a boyfriend you’d moved in with - wasted so much time on.
But those fears started to melt away the instant his hand curled around yours in the most natural way possible. And you realized it would be impossible to turn away from him again.
The apprehension in his eyes turns to barely-concealed happiness when your hand turns, pressing palms and fully enjoying the warmth Dwayne’s touch provides. Loving how right it feels. “I still need a place to stay,” you tell him softly.
You physically see Dwayne suck in a breath of relief, and a wide grin appearing on his face at those words. The words that started this whole thing, and they were music to his ears. He takes a step closer, once again standing between your knees, eyes so soft and warm, you wonder why you could ever have been so afraid to be more with him. “Stay with me,” Dwayne replies. And when his fingers tighten the grip around your hand, you nod a little.
There was nothing left to do but kiss him. To try and stifle the shivers that travel up your spine at the taste of him. Your free hand lands on his hip, curving around to his lower back, while Dwayne’s comes up to curve against your jawline. Tilting your head up gently so he can kiss a little deeper.
And there it was; the delicious little noise in the back of your throat that Dwayne was starting to forget. It sounds so good, he makes a promise to himself to never let anybody try to take it away from him ever again.

Izuku perked up when he cought sight of Kacchan's backpack through the dozen's of students.
"Kacchan!"He called out but he didn't hear him over the noise."Kacchan!"He ran after him, letting out 'Excuse me's as he pushed through different students. He could feel glares on his back but being focused on Kacchan made him almost oblivious to it.
Suddenly,he felt...something.His head snapped up as if on instinct, seeing a bucket of presumably water placed on the door to their classroom.
"Kacchan, watch out!"He tackled him out of the way, landing on the floor.
"Ow!Deku, what the fu-"He froze at seeing the now spilled bucket of water."Oh...thanks.Who the fuck put that there though?"
"I'll give you one guess."Izuku responded.Realization dawned on Kacchan and he gritted his teeth.
"Copycat..."Monoma had earned that nickname after being caught trying to cheat off Kacchan's test during a pop quiz.
"Why,Bakugou-kun!"A mock hurt voice came from behind them and they both turned to see Monoma."I'm shocked at this accusation. What reason could i possibly have-"Kendou popped up and pinched a nerve on his neck, rendering him limp and caught him by the back of his shirt before he could fall face-first on the floor. She placed her free hand on her head.
"Sorry about him guys. You know how foul he is."
"That's cold,Kendou."Said he in a strained voice.
"Don't worry,"Said Izuku,standing up with Kacchan's help,"It's not your fault."
Kendou smiled at them before her eyes zeroed in on their held hands,"I'll leave you two to do your thing."She walked away, literally dragging Monoma with her.
"Kacchan, you can let go of my hand now."
"Huh?"Kacchan blinked at him and let go,"Right!"
Just then, their classmates started filling in."Good morning,Midoriya!"Iida greeted him.Izuku smiled at him.
"Good morning,Iida."
"Good morning,Deku-kun!"
"Good morning,Uraraka!"
"Bonjour,Midoriya-kun!"
"Good morning,Aoyama-kun!"
"Good morning,Bakugou!"Kaminari greeted Kacchan, slinging an arm around him.Kacchan shrugged it off.
"Good morning,Kaminari."He muttered.Kaminari beamed.
"You didn't call me an idiot this time! We're making progress!"
"Good morning,Midoriya,Bakugou."Kirishima said, walking up to them.
"G'morming,Shitty hair."
"Good morning,Kirishima-kun."
"Why's there a bucket here?"Tsuyu asked.
"Monoma/Copycat."Izuku and Kacchan said simaultaneously.
"Ah."She nodded in understanding.Monoma had a habit of trying to,to put it lightly, start shit with Class 1-A.It had been going on since the sports festival and hadn't stopped since.Todoroki walked in next.
"Good morning,Todoroki-kun!"
"Good morning,Midoriya,Bakugou."He smiled at both of them and Kacchan nodded in awknoledgement. He had let go Todoroki letting himself lose during the sports festival.
"Hey,Deku, did you get the photos i sent you?"
Izuku blinked in surprise."Uh,i haven't checked my phone yet."
Kacchan's eyebrows raised in surprise,"All day? What were you doing?"
"I was,uh,sick.Cough,cough."
Kacchan stood up,"Do you want me to take you to Ms.Shuzenji?"
"No,no,i'm fine now!"
"You just coughed."Todoroki pointed out and Izuku resisted the urge to throw his notebook at him.
"Yes,i know,but i'm fine."
Kacchan reluctantly sat back down,"If you say so.What were sick with?"
"Uh,a bad cough.I still have it a little bit."
"Are you sure you're okay?"Kirishima asked, giving him a concerned look and placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah,i'm okay.Really.",He laughed nervously as his friends crowded around him."Seriously, guys,it's just a cough."
Thankfully,Mr.Aizawa walked in."Alright everyone,sit down please."They listened to him,"Midoriya,are you feeling alright?"
"Yes."He said exhaustedly.
"Great,now onto class-"
-
Izuku snuck behind the tree at the the back of the school(No phones inside school)and took out his phone, checking his mailbox. There,he found various pictures of what appeared to be museum exhibits.
'Kacchan...'Kacchan broke the rules for him.It made his heart swell. He smiled and leaned back against the tree, closing his eyes and pressing his phone against his heart.
His smile turned into a full-blown grin as he stuffed his phone back in his backpack.Time for lunch!
"Young Midoriya!"He jumped and whirled around at Mr.Yagi's voice."I was just hoping to talk to you!"
"Oh,what about,Mr.Yagi?."He hitched up his backpack, smiling at him.
"After yesterday's incident,i was worried about you!Don't want you getting poisened or anything!"
'Not poisened.Just mutated'This self-reminder made him hyper aware of his power-powers?What happened earlier wasn't normal. You didn't suddenly just sense things.
"Young Midoriya, are you alright?"Mr.Yagi noticed his sudden stiffness.
"Uh,yeah!"He began to sweat,"I,uh,gotta go.My friends are waiting for me!"He ran off.
"Have a good day,Young Midoriya!"Mr.Yagi called out to him.
"You too,Mr.Yagi!"
"Hey,Midoriya!"Sero waved him over.
"Hi,Sero!"Izuku sat down between him and Kacchan.
"What was Mr.Yagi talking to you about?"Kacchan asked him.Izuku almost flinched. They'd seen that?!Had they also seen him looking at his phone?!He blushed up to his ears at the thought.
"H-he was asking me about my spider bite."
"What if it was a radioactive spider?"Kirishima asked jokingly and Izuku froze.
'Yes...Yes!...that makes a lot of sense!'Radiation was the perfect explanation. It happened all the time in comic books! And this was certainly a comic book-like situation.
"And now you have superpowers that you have to use for good!"Kaminari said dramatically, standing and posing.
"That would be incredible."Said Aoyama.
"Deku could be a superhero."Kacchan agreed.Izuku blushed even more,if that was possible.
'...Me?A superhero?'He looked down at his hands. The spider bite had healed up but he could still see the place where he'd been bitten. He opened and closed them. That would be a good way to use his powers.
'But...'What would the city think? They'd probably try to capture him and experiment on him yo find out how to duplicate his powers.Or at least the police would.Izuku didn't trust them.
He shook his head,'Right now, just think about lunch.'The octopus dogs compelled him.Even they couldn't calm him dowm
-
"Mom?Has Dad called back yet?"Izuku asked.Mom stiffend, like she always did when Dad was mentioned. To be honest,he felt inadequet calling him that.He didn't really have a presence in Izuku's life.He barely remembered him.
"No but he will."She said firmly as if she knew.
"When?"Izuku couldn't help but ask,his voice cracking."Like he called back all the other times?"
"Izuku,please,he's your father!"Mom almost pleaded."He's a very busy man.With great power,comes great responsibility."
Izuku froze.Mom calmed down.
"I'm sorry. It's just...he hasn't responded to any of my calls and..."She began to cry and he ran to her side, hugging her."A-and he hasn't awnsered any of my texts.I just miss him,you know?"
Izuku did not know.He had no attachment to his father."Yeah,i know, just let it allll out."
Mom did so.After a few minutes,he let her go.She wiped her eyes,"Thank you, dear.I'm sorry for yelling at you."
"You're welcome.I'm sorry for prying."
"No,it's alright. You have a right to want to know about your father."
Izuku really did not want to know so he just nodded.
Mom gave him a closed eyed smile,"I'll tell him you said hi when he calls back, okay?"
"Okay.Thanks Mom."
That night,Izuku stared at his bedroom ceiling as he layed in his bed.
With great power,comes great responsibility.

Different and the Same
Heather & Valencia - Femslash February - Day 2 - Lazy Morning [1,035 words]
Heather woke to the sound of Valencia’s alarm. The preset Silk ringtone echoed through their dark bedroom and the phone vibrated urgently atop the nightstand. Heather tightened the grip of her right arm to hold Valencia’s body against hers. “No,” she declared with eyes clamped shut. “No moving today. We did our moving yesterday. Literally. You can see the boxes from here.”
Valencia shut off the alert and laughed. “I remember. I was there.”
“Right, which means you know we earned the extra sleep.” Heather hooked her leg over Valencia’s thigh. She planted a few soft kisses along her shoulder. “We both cleared our schedules for this, remember? Because it’s really hard to go to work and put up with crap when everything hurts.”
“That’s a lot of R&R talk from someone who had no problem breaking in this bed last night after our friends went home.” Valencia twisted to rest on the opposite side so they could be eye-to-eye.
“Which you did not turn into a status update,” Heather observed.
Valencia shrugged. “Our pre-move selfie and the action shots during the day seemed like enough. Even that was mostly because I like to keep a visual timeline of big events in my life. I still haven’t checked to see if anyone left a comment.”
Heather’s eyebrows lifted. “I’m impressed, V. That’s a major change for you.”
“Yeah, it is.” Valencia skittered her fingers along Heather’s arm. “I just haven’t really felt like I needed them to hype me up about stuff lately. The way circumstances have been turning around is exciting enough all on its own. My followers can draw conclusions for themselves without me spelling every moment out for them.” She lifted her gaze to Heather’s face. “I already know I’m happy.”
Heather pulled her in for a kiss. Valencia sighed contentedly and let herself melt into the embrace. She shifted her weight forward and coaxed Heather onto her back. When Valencia followed that initial contact with straddling her waist, Heather was surprised but not at all opposed.
“You know,” Valencia murmured as she nuzzled Heather’s neck and rolled her hips, “it’s comforting to realize that, no matter what else is new in my world, some things still haven’t changed.”
“Yeah?” Heather struggled to keep her voice conversational while her hands pressed against the small of Valencia’s back. “Like what?”
Valencia pulled away and gave her a mischievous grin. “Like I still do my sun salutation every morning.”
She clambered out of bed in a hurry. Valencia giggled when Heather rolled over with a disappointed groan.
“I should’ve seen that one coming,” Heather lamented. “You suck at being lazy, by the way.”
Valencia gave her a teasing swat through the comforter before she crossed the room to open one of their clothing boxes. Heather wrapped herself in a blanket cocoon but left a window to watch Valencia tug on a racerback bra.
It took a little digging to assemble an outfit but, by the time Valencia shimmied into a pair of capri leggings, Heather had left the bed and begun to put on her discarded clothes from the previous night. She left the ripped jeans where they were on the floor; boxers would be more conducive to a wide range of movement. Valencia regarded her with an arched eyebrow as Heather adjusted the straps of her tank top.
“I thought you voted against getting up early,” Valencia remarked.
“Once I wake up enough that I have to pee, I might as well start the day.” Heather rubbed both biceps to chase away the bumps on her skin. She shuffled over to an open cardboard box and plunged her hand into the folded garments in search of socks.
“Are you sure it doesn’t have anything to do with the fake-out?” Valencia suggested.
“There can be more than one thing on our Free Day Agenda,” Heather answered casually on her way to the bathroom. “We’re both great multi-taskers.”
Valencia crossed her arms and shook her head, but the hint of a smile formed on her lips. “I’ll go set up our mats.”
___
They completed the ritual as per Valencia’s custom, but they remained in the living room together for quite some time afterward. The sun was high in the sky and several flat surfaces including the floor, the wall, and the couch had been #christened when Heather and Valencia finally collapsed atop scattered throw pillows. Valencia panted and rested her cheek against Heather’s hair.
“Damn,” she marveled simply. “Those morning poses are supposed to increase your strength and flexibility, but you really went the extra mile to test if it’s working.”
“My new roomie used to be an instructor. I picked up a lot from her about helping people reach their physical potential.”
“Sounds like she really knows what she’s talking about,” Valencia played along with a smirk.
“I can confirm that she does.” Heather walked her fingers along Valencia’s clavicle. “Do you think you might want to go somewhere for food in a while?”
Valencia lightly squeezed Heather’s sides with her kneecaps. “I thought you already did your eating out for today,” she quipped.
An approving smile spread across Heather’s face. “Double entendre. Not bad.” She noted how proud Valencia was of this newly-acquired cleverness, and her eyelids crinkled affectionately at the corners. Heather chuckled and kissed the underside of Valencia’s chin. “You’re cute. But for real, where do you want to go?”
Valencia trailed her hand along Heather’s spine. She considered the question momentarily but lifted and dropped her shoulders. “I don’t have a preference right now. I’ll trust your judgment. You choose.”
Heather propped herself up in surprise. “Wow, are you sure? That’s a lot of power.”
Valencia rolled her eyes, though it was clear that the validity of Heather’s astonishment was not lost on her. “I’m sure.” She wove their fingers together. “Don’t let it go to your head.”
“I know you’ll keep me humble.” Heather looked at their hands for a moment and tickled Valencia’s palm with her thumb. “I think I’ve got something,” she said at last, “but it’s kinda off the beaten path. Are you down for an adventure?”
Valencia met Heather’s eyes and beamed. “Lead the way.”

The Ideal
PAIRING: Jooheon x reader
GENRE: College AU / fluff, a hint of angst
WORD COUNT: 4,995
DESCRIPTION: When you meet your ideal man, you will do whatever you can to catch his attention. But what if your ideal man isn't the one meant for you?
Author's note: My second fanfic! I am not sure how I feel about it but I was suddenly struck by inspiration and wrote it down! The ending is a little abrupt but I like where I left it. Enjoy!
If there was ever an embodiment of your ideal man, it was the smiling man sitting across from you. His dark hair, tall stature, and fit body, paired with his quiet but friendly demeanor, was everything you had ever found attractive in a man. When his eyes looked over towards you and his mouth curled up into a toothy smile, you unwillingly smiled back without hesitation. You felt like you could look at him all day.
“Y/N!” Laura said loudly into your ear. This pulled your attention away from the god sitting in front of you and onto her face. She gave you a curious look and asked,”You okay? Jooheon is trying to ask you a question.” You then followed her eyes over to the dimpled boy who was already looking at you in wait.
“I’m sorry! I just got lost in thought. What did you need?”
“I was just asking what you think we should do the project about. We only have two weeks to complete the project so I think we should decide as soon as possible.”
Oh, yes. The project. You had almost forgotten the whole reason you were sitting in this cafe with these three. You were assigned as a group for an Astronomy project.
Instead of directly answering Jooheon, you looked across the table again and asked, “I’m okay with anything. What about you Shownu?” After a moment of thoughtful hesitation, he spoke, “What about the phases and rotation of the moon? I think they are fairly simple and will be easy to do research on.”
After a quick vote, all four of you agreed on Shownu’s idea. As the group continued to discuss the basics of the project, you kept finding your eyes on Shownu’s face. The way he intently listened and only spoke after a few moments of thought was so intriguing to you. You only knew how to speak whatever was on your mind, in what sometimes felt like it was far too drawn out for the message you were trying to convey. But Shownu, he seemed to know how to say exactly what he needed to say in the shortest and clearest way possible.
After a few more short discussions, the four of you split up to go home, deciding to continue the conversation the next day. On your walk back to the dorm, it didn’t take long for Laura to bring it up.
“Sooooo, what was up with that?”
“With what?” You asked, pretending you had no idea what she was talking about.
“Um, the whole googly eyes thing you were doing at Shownu?” She said with a hint of suspicion in her voice.
You had a quick thought of lying to her but you knew she would find out anyway so you confessed, “Laura, he is my perfect man.” You looked over at her with a big smile and continued, “I mean, he has everything I could ever ask for. Tell me, do you believe in love at first sight?”
“Pfft!” she laughed, “No, but I am guessing you do!”
“Not until just now.” You said wistfully, earning another laugh.
“Listen, I am not saying that it’s not real, just be careful with your heart okay? You are too precious to be throwing your love to any guy that has a charming smile.”
-----------------
“Jooheon!” You yell out when you saw him walking across the quad.
The night before, you and Laura realized that you hadn’t exchanged numbers with the boys in your group to continue your project.
When Jooheon looked over at you jogging toward him, you gave him a small wave. This caused him to return your gesture with an adorable eye-smile and a wave of his own. As you got closer he asked, “Hey Y/N, what’s up
“Hey,” You say slightly out of breath, “I realized that we forgot to exchange numbers yesterday.”
“You’re right! Here, just put your number in my phone, I’ll text you so you will have mine.” He said while handing you his phone.
As you typed your name and number in, you asked, “I was actually thinking we could meet up at my dorm this Saturday. I was just going to get some pizza and I thought we could all work on the project and eat together.” You handed his phone back as he responded, “That works for me! I will let Shownu know and make sure it is good for him too. I’ll shoot you a text as soon as I know.”
“Awesome!” You exclaimed as you turned to head to your next class. “See you then!”
----------------
The knock on the door made you jump. You had spent the past 2 hours cleaning your dorm for your visitors. Laura had arrived 30 minutes ago and just enjoyed watching you run around, flustered and anxious. She still tried to calm your nerves through her entertainment. “Y/N, it’s just a project meetup. Not a date. It is okay to take it a little less seriously.” She meant well but her words did nothing to calm your thoughts.
Now, with the object of your anxiousness just behind the door, you took one last glance around the room. Everything was tidier than it had ever been, but it still didn’t feel like enough. With a deep breath to collect yourself, you opened the door.
Shownu’s large frame was standing imposingly in the doorway with Jooheon right behind him. Before you could greet them, Jooheon lifted up the cans he was holding. “I hope it’s okay that we brought beer. It was his idea.” He said while nodding towards Shownu.
“Oh, o-of course.” You said, trying to hide the reluctance in your voice. You had never been much of a drinker and had only planned to eat pizza and study but what damage could a few beers do?
As soon as the pizza arrived, you all sat down to eat and go over the project. A few minutes in, you started on your first beer. It was just as gross as you remembered from your graduation party after high school. The slight malty flavor wasn’t one you normally enjoyed but you noticed, the more you drank, the better it tasted.
-----------------
The sun woke you up the next morning. The blinding light pierced through your eyelids and added to the ache in your head. You rolled over and fought to fall back asleep. As you pulled your hands up to your face, you grazed something soft. Your hands stopped on the object as your brain tried to catch up. After a lingering touch, your brain recognized it as foreign.
Your eyes flit open as you sat straight up. There was someone sitting next to your bed with there head gently resting on the side. Before you could clearly look at the their face, nausea hit you like a ton of bricks. You quickly sprang out of bed and towards your open bathroom door. As you were heaving into the toilet you heard your name lightly called from the other room.
“Y/N? You okay?”
You couldn’t respond immediately but as soon as you could catch a breath, you replied,”I’ll be okay.” You took a few more breaths to test your nausea and as soon as you were confident you were done, you turned toward the bathroom door.
When you saw him, you were simultaneously relieved and embarrassed at the same time. You couldn’t help but sigh a breath in relief that it wasn’t Shownu, but Jooheon watching you puke up your guts. At the same time, you were embarrassed that any one had to see you that way.
Jooheon furrowed his brow in concern as he bent down towards you. You turned your face away from him because you were sure you looked like absolute hell.
“Are you sure you’re okay? Maybe you need to lie back down.” He said while moving closer to examine your face.
You shifted backwards, trying to keep a more comfortable distance between the two of you. “If you give me a minute, I should be fine now that I got it out of my system.” After a moment of not-so-comfortable silence, you continued, “I’m sorry.”
“No Y/N, don’t apologize, I should be apologizing for bringing the beer. I knew we were only here for the project but I tried to make it a little more fun. I’m sorry I did that without asking.” He immediately retorted with remorse on his face.
You half-heartedly smiled back and sneered, “How about with both accept each others apologies and get over it?”
He smirked back and nodded his head in agreement. “Okay.”
After a couple more moments of sitting in awkward silence on your bathroom floor, Jooheon stood and you gladly accepted the hand he extended to help you stand.
As you made your way back into your bedroom, you suddenly remembered the person who was leaning on your bed when you woke up. It didn’t take you long to realize that it must have been Jooheon.
Your cheeks heated up, just now comprehending that he must have spent the night in your room in order to be here right now. You flipped around and asked abruptly, “What are you doing here?”
Jooheon seemed startled for a moment but not very surprised be the questions. His eyes looked away from you and searched for another object to occupy his sight. “Well, after a few beers last night Laura passed out on the couch and you were right behind her. You suddenly got very clingy and kept hanging on Shownu. When we tried to help you to your room, you refused his help. I ended up bringing you in here by myself, and when I tried to leave you wouldn’t let me.” His face slightly reddened while remembering. “You kept grabbing on to my hand and crying that if I left, you would have bad dreams. I decided to stay until you fell asleep, but I guess I fell asleep too.”
You were glad you couldn’t remember any of this, just hearing it from someone else was embarrassing enough. “I don’t remember anything but I am really sorry that I did that. I have been told I am a needy drunk.” You apologized once again.
“It’s all right. I am just glad you could sleep okay.” He looked back towards you and asked again, “Are you sure you are all right?”
Though your raging headache disagreed, you nodded and again assured him that you would be okay.
“I know that you said it was okay, but you will let me at least get you a coffee for your troubles?”
You saw the hesitance in his face but he reluctantly accepted, “If you really want to. I would argue but you don’t seem like the kind of girl who would take no for an answer.”
After checking on Laura sleeping on the couch in the living room and taking a couple Asprin, you and Jooheon headed to the cafe down the street from your dorm. You knew you both must look like the walking dead but neither of you seemed to particularly care.
You both walked silently, you trying to let the cool air simmer down your headache, and Jooheon seeming to be distracted by the changing color of the leaves.
With your coffee ordered and you seats taken, you felt the sudden urge to break the silence.
“Jooheon, what is your major?”
He nonchalantly answered, “Music production.”
Your eyes suddenly lit up in interest. “Really? That must be so much fun. I love music but I don’t think I am creative enough to do that.”
“It’s really just having and good ear and a basic understanding of musical theory.”
“I have neither of those.” You retorted. This received a small chuckle in return.
“So what are you majoring in? You must be good at something.” He said sarcastically while showing off those signature dimples. You’d noticed them before, but for the first time, you didn’t want to see them go away.
“I am a space kind of girl myself. That’s why I’m taking Astronomy. I haven’t declared a major yet, but I have a feeling that Astronomy is the one I am going to go with.”
“Space… I’m impressed. That’s really complicated. I am only taking Astronomy for one of my basic science credits. It’s only been two weeks and just thinking about it gives me a headache.” He grabs his forehead while saying this.
You giggle and tell him, “Honestly, it’s not always easy for me either, but it just never ceases to amaze me. There are so many fascinating things going on out there that we can’t explain. For example, did you know that there is a star in the Orion constellation that could explode into a supernova any day? If it happened, the supernova would be so bright that we could see it during the day. My favorite part is that it might have already happened but we can’t see it because the light is still travelling to us.”
You don’t even try to hide your excitement while talking about it. Once you get started on space, it’s hard to stop. You go on to talk about the science behind it. After a couple of minutes of blabbering, you suddenly concerned that you are boring poor Jooheon to death. But when you look at him, him and his dimples seem to be hanging on your every word. You smile and continue.
------------------
Almost two weeks later, you once again find yourself in your living room surrounded by your project group, this time with no beer.
Your group had met up a couple more times since your pizza night and this was to be your last meeting before your presentation the next day. You had apologized to Shownu about hanging all over him the first night and he had accepted. You also tried your best to flirt with him every time you met up but you never could seem to act normal around him. You typically knew exactly what you wanted to say but you tended to stumble over your words when talking to him. You hadn’t really gotten as close as you had hoped for on that first day in the cafe.
As you were opening the fridge to grab a water, you heard someone enter the kitchen behind you. “Water?” You asked while turning towards them.
Jooheon shook his head, lightly refusing. “I actually have a questions for you.”
“Sure, what’s up?” You asked.
“The science museum is actually having a special show this weekend in their planetarium. It’s going to be about the Orion constellation.” Jooheon paused for a moment and shifted awkwardly on his feet. “I was wondering, since you really seem to be interested in it, if you wanted to go see it… with me?”
“Of course!” Why in the world would you turn down this opportunity? “How much do you need for my ticket?”
Jooheon seemed slightly thrown by the question, “Oh, nothing! I already bought them so let’s just say that this one is on me.”
You bickered about it for a moment before letting Jooheon have his way.
-----------------
You had been ready for a while now. You tended to overestimate the amount of time you needed to get ready. This caused you to be lazing around on your couch with your favorite white jumper on, and your makeup done a little bit nicer than your average school day.
Anxiousness came over you in waves but you weren’t sure why. Of course you were excited about the planetarium and of course you knew you would enjoy it, so what were these butterflies trying to fly around in your stomach?
It had already been ten minutes since Jooheon text you that he was on the way so you were just quietly waiting and letting your thoughts and excitement occupy your mind. You were so lost in thoughts about Orion that the doorbell made you jump. You smoothed out your jumper as you stood up, grabbed your purse, and headed towards the door.
When you opened it, you were greeted by a charming smile, paired with those dimples, which immediately caused you to smile back without thought.
There was something about Jooheon that seemed slightly different. You thought it might be his clothes. Even though he kept his typical street style, something seemed a little bit more put together and sophisticated about it. Then you thought that maybe it was his hair. Rather than falling across his forehead like it normally did, it was swept up over to one side. But the more you looked at him, the more those explanations didn’t seem to be right. Somehow, he just looked a little brighter.
You exchange your normal greetings and promptly headed down towards the bus stop. On the way, Jooheon lamented about not having a car, which you told him was understandable for a college student and that you didn’t have one either.
After you had taken your seats on the bus, your conversation once again turned to Jooheon’s major.
“Okay, so I get that you like music but have you had the chance to make any of your own yet?”
“I’ve actually been making my own for years.” He said with a small look over to you to gauge your reaction.
“Really? Why haven’t you already shown it to me?” You asked, slight disappointment in your voice.
“It’s kind of embarrassing to show to other people.” He gazed out of the window, ”I really want everything to be perfect, but then I always think that no one other than me will like it.”
“Jooheon!” The sharpness in your voice cause him to turn his head back to you. You took the opportunity to make sincere eye contact with him. “I know that if it is your music, it has to be amazing.”
He held your gaze for a couple more second before looking down with reddening cheeks, “But you have never heard it, how would you know that?”
“Then let me.” You paused for a response but he just kept his head down. “I am serious. I know if you are as big of a music nerd as you make yourself out to be, you have it on your phone right now.”
He couldn’t argue with your logic at all. Wordlessly, he pulled out his phone and earphones and placed one in his ear. He passed the free one over to you so that you could do the same. After a visible moment of reluctance, he hit play.
-----------------
The two of you had arrived at the planetarium earlier than expected. You had no problem with it though as it gave you plenty of time to continue your conversation about Jooheon’s music.
“I wouldn’t lie to you!” You told him desperately as you took your seats, “That was some of the most unbelievable music I have ever listened to and it didn’t even have lyrics! How did you even do that thing with the synth noise?”
“You really want to know?” He asked hesitantly. You fervently nodded your head.
He went on to explain some of the basics of creating the song with a gleam in his eye. You could see how much he really loved music and how much more he loved making it. You suddenly found yourself wondering what he looked like when he was working on it. Did he have this same child-like look in his eye or did he get serious with a thoughtful crease in his brow. Maybe he flashed those dimples whenever he found a beat that he really liked. You really wanted to see all of it.
Before you knew it, your conversation halted because of the dimming lights and the announcement that the show was starting. All throughout the show, you couldn’t help but quietly explain certain things to Jooheon in more detail as the synthetic stars twinkled above you. When you finally tore your eyes away for a moment to see how Jooheon was doing, you found yourself immediately caught in his gaze. The was something in the way he was looking at you that made you linger there. Maybe it was the suddenly apparent closeness of your faces. Maybe it was the tightening in you chest. Or maybe it was the way the manufactured stars reflected in his eyes.
“Y/N.” He whispered so quietly you almost couldn’t hear it. You used it as an excuse to move a little closer.
“I need to tell you something,” He looked down at your lips. “I lik-”
Your moment was suddenly cut off by bright lights suddenly coming on. Both of your looked around, blinking, waiting for your eyes to adjust. It seemed that while you were distracted, the planetarium show had ended.
-------------------
The next school week flew by and before you knew it, it was the weekend once more. You and Jooheon had kept in contact all week and talked everyday about music, astronomy, and your lives. You weren’t quite sure what was happened between the two of you but you knew you didn’t hate it. As an excuse to see him, you asked the whole project group to come over once again, but this time just to hang out and have a good time.
Once more your found your living room messy with pizza boxes and beer cans. This time, you had made sure to slow yourself down and drink plenty of water. While Laura was ranting about her annoying math professor, you excused yourself to the restroom.
Almost as soon as you stepped out of the bathroom door, you ran into a wall. On second glance, it wasn’t a wall but Shownu. Your cheeks immediately heated up at the close distance between you, but Shownu didn’t step back.
“Y/N.” He stated with his thoughtful voice.
The sound of him saying your name, combined with the close quarters of your hallway and the alcohol coursing through you made your body shiver. Without waiting for a response, he continued.
“You like me right?”
The suddenness of the question made you trip backwards into the wall. “Um, u-uh,” you stammered over your words for a moment but he patiently waited for your answer.
“Yes?” You couldn’t help but notice the question in your answer.
He looked at you for a moment longer before taking a step closer, causing the distance between you to be next-to-nothing. “Then, will you go out with me?”
What? Had all your flirting actually gotten through to him? Had this moment actually come?
“Go out with you?” You repeated his question back to him in order to buy some time to process what was going on.
Shownu leaned closer, removing any distance you had between you before. You could feel his breathe on your ear as he repeated, “Yes, go out with me.”
For a moment, you stayed just like that. Close enough to kiss with just one word from you. Your eyes found his perfectly pouty lips as you opened your own to respond.
“Hey Shownu, what’s taking you so long to-”
You pushed Shownu away but it was already too late. As soon as your saw Jooheon’s face, you knew you had screwed up. His eyes were opened wide and his brow was furrowed in confusion.
“What is this?” He asked quietly. When neither of you responded he asked louder, “What is this?!”
“It’s not wh-” You were cut off by Shownu’s voice.
“I was asking Y/N out.” He stated matter-of-factly.
Jooheon looked at you to see if he was telling the truth. You looked away to avoid the expression on his face. It didn’t take long to hear his footsteps move away swiftly and the front door slam behind him.
When you finally looked up at Shownu, he looked as confused as you had ever seen him.
“No.” You softly said, your voice barely above a whisper, “I am really sorry, but I can’t date you.”
You weren’t quite sure when it had happened, but you knew that in these past few weeks, your view of your ideal man had changed. No longer was it the strong and thoughtful type. The toothy smile and lean muscles just weren’t doing it for you anymore. Now, when you closed your eyes and thought of the perfect man, he didn’t look anything like the one standing before you. The man you thought of had an eye smile to kill for. His dimples were out of this world and his ambition was beyond compare. He laughed carelessly and smiled boldy.
---------------------
It had been two weeks. Two weeks without even a text. You hadn’t seen him in class and he ignored your calls. You were at a loss. Even Laura joined in on the effort but it seemed like Jooheon had dropped off the face of the earth. You had one last option.
You stopped Shownu after class. You hadn’t talked much since you rejected him, but he didn’t seemed to fazed by it.
“Have you heard from Jooheon?”
“Yeah, we actually just talked last night.” He said with a hint of interest in his voice, “Why?”
“Well.” You paused to think,” I just needed to get him some notes since he has been missing but he hasn’t gotten back to me.”
“Oh.” He responds, “Do you want me to take them for you?”
“No!” You say immediately, “I really need to explain a couple of things to him, so could you have him text me please?”
“Yeah, no problem.” He says, seeming to easily accept your explanation.
“Thank you!” You say as you start to walk off, ”You’re a real lifesaver!”
If this didn’t work, you weren’t sure what would.
------------------
That night, you almost couldn’t believe your eyes when you saw Jooheon’s name light up on your phone. You didn’t hesitate in answering.
“Jooheon! Where have you been? I was worried when you weren’t showing up to class. Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” he said, not seeming very interested in giving an explanation. “Can you do something for me?”
“Anything.” You immediately answered.
“Come to my place. I have something to show you.”
------------------
The walk wasn’t far and you were at Jooheon’s front door within ten minutes. When he opened the door, relief flooded over you at the sight of his face. He seemed okay and well rested. The only thing that was missing was that charming smile and those signature dimples.
After he waved you in, you noticed his dorm was exactly what you expected it to look like. Pretty bare with mostly just necessities. Some shoes and clothes strewn about but not much else. He offered you a water and your politely declined. You quietly followed him into his room.
While his living room was bare, his bedroom was anything but. The amount of technology piled on his desk and shelves surprised you. Normally, you would immediately comment and start asking questions, but right now you were mostly concerned with the sullen look on Jooheon’s face.
“Sit.” He said as he pulled out his chair from his desk. You sat down and let Jooheon place his large headphones on your head. You watch as he clicked a few buttons on his computer. Just as you were about to ask what was going on, the music started.
The rhythm was slow. It seemed unlike the other music he had played for you on the bus, but somehow it was also intrinsically his. When you looked up at him, he seemed to be searching your face for a reaction. The moment your eyes met his, you heard his voice. You were puzzled for a moment because his mouth didn’t seem to be moving. It only took you a moment to realize that it was the song.
His rap somehow stood out but blended with the music so perfectly. Like they had been made to meld with one another in perfect harmony. He continued to search your face as you listened to his words.
All of the happiness and pain he had poured into the music flowed into you. With not so direct words, he was telling you how he felt. You didn’t need any explanation to know.
All too soon, the song ended and you found yourself still staring into Jooheon’s eyes in the silence of his still room. You removed the headphones and open your mouth to speak but before you can say anything, Jooheon starts, “Listen to me before you say anything.” You quietly nod your head for him to continue.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have ignored you these past two weeks. I had a lot on my mind and for some reason, I thought holing myself up in here and making music the right thing to do. I thought that if I pretended that you didn’t exist, it would hurt less but I kept finding that the only thing that I could think about when producing, was you.” You tried once again to interrupt but he continued.
“Shownu told me what happened. He told me that he came onto you and that you rejected him. I just thought that there was no way that you could turn him down. The first night we studied at your apartment, you mumbled about his smile until you fell asleep. I thought there was no way I could compare. I still don’t know if I can but I do know one thing. No matter what, I need to let you know how much I like you.” He stopped talking but continued in his unwavering eye contact.
“My turn?” You asked. He nodded.
You wasted no time in connecting your lips with his. He jumped at the sudden contact but quickly reciprocated your movement with his own.
You pulled away after a few moments to say, “I like you too.” and then immediately dove back in.

Part 1 ... Part 3 Part 4  Part 5 Part 6
Key: Y/F/N- your first name. Y/L/N- your last name
(A/N: I’m going to try my best to have an update ready each week, if not twice a week. I am really loving writing this story and I hope you all are enjoying reading it. I appreciate all kinds of feedback!)
Tumblr media
The following day in the police station was mayhem. Even though your top priority task was heading the case against organized crime in Seoul, it didn’t excuse you from daily police work.
But today felt like you were the only person in the station who was remotely competent, aside from your superintendent. Everywhere you turned, someone was looking for your input or your signature on something. Your only moments of peace came when you were successfully able to sneak away to the restroom.
You’d found yourself trying to scarf down a late lunch while you reviewed a report someone had thrown in your face. You were focused intently until your superior appeared at the edge of your desk.
“Detective Y/L/N.” Your head sprang up at the mention of your title, to which you promptly bowed.
“Chief Kim, what can I do for you?” You embarrassingly mumbled in between your chews.
“I’d like for you to meet your new partner for the G Dragon case. And before you say anything, know that he finished his training at the very top of his class, was awarded numerous honors and has consistently performed at impressive skill levels that I haven’t seen since you went through your schooling.” The superintendent mused, drawing your attention to the tall man standing beside him.
Chief Kim knew you well because if it hadn’t been for such praises, you would have politely sent this man elsewhere. But as of this moment, it sure looked and sounded like he had a lot of potential.
You quickly swallowed the last bite of your lunch and stood up to bow to your new partner. “Pleased to meet you. I’m senior officer and detective Y/F/N Y/L/N. But feel free to call me Y/F/N.”
He returned the bow before saluting and replying in an exceptionally deep voice. “Choi Seunghyun. The pleasure is mine. I’ve heard many great things about you, detective Y/L/N.”
You smiled at his formal speech and lightly shook your head. “Seriously, don’t worry about using those formalities here. We’re partners now, so we’re a team, all right?” He politely nodded his head with a small smile in response.
“All right well let me brief you on what we have going on with this case lately.” You discarded the file you’d been reviewing to draw his attention to the other mound of papers on your desk. “So yesterday we were able to arres-.”
“Senior Y/L/N!”
You paused, mildly irritated that you were interrupted by yet another person who needed your help. “What is it?” You questioned the woman who had run out from where the station kept its holding cells.
“The suspect in cell three says he’s ready to talk. The one you picked up yesterday.” She replied hastily.
You raised an eyebrow in amusement. “Is that so? Bring him to Interview 1 and we’ll have a chat.” You instructed. “Well then, it looks like we’re about to have an interesting first day together, Officer Choi.” You said while patting the top of his shoulder.
He looked back at you with a smirk as he raised an arm in the direction of the interrogation rooms. “After you.”
You brought Seunghyun to the room connected to where you’d interview Jihun, and watched closely through the one-way mirror. This was all a part of the process; remove the suspect from their holding cell, plant them in a silent windowless room, and let them simmer for a minute. By the time you enter, ready to ask your questions, their nerves will visibly skyrocket.
And most people do an awful lot of talking when they’re nervous.
But as they brought Jihun in and sat him down, you stared at him skeptically. He was trembling. You folded your arms across your chest and narrowed your eyes at the glass. The man who had so boldly attempted to fight and mouth off at you only yesterday, now sat shaking like a leaf while he looked around the small room sporadically.
“What’s on your mind?” Seunghyun’s deep voice broke through your trance.
You replied without deterring your gaze from Jihun. “I just wasn’t expecting someone with his record to be this nervous only a day later. He’s been here before. We haven’t even asked a single question and he already looks prepared to tell us anything.”
Seunghyun chuckled to himself. “Well let’s get in there then.”
You nodded to him in agreement. Your face restored a look of indifference as you grabbed Jihun’s file and the two of you entered the room.
“Officer Choi, meet Park Jihun. Park Jihun; Officer Choi.” You introduced before throwing his file down on the table. The manila folder landed with a slap against the metal surface that echoed in the confined space, making the former loan shark flinch.
You took your place in the chair across from him while Seunghyun stood by the door behind you. “And you and I are already well acquainted, aren’t we?” You jested.
Jihun’s eyes didn’t leave the table top.
“What? No pet name or tough guy comeback? ... No spitting? I’m almost disappointed.” You continued to push, while he remained staring at his file.
After a minute of silence you leaned back in your chair and crossed your arms. As you opened your mouth to say something out of impatience, he cut you off.
“Listen. There’s a lot I could tell you. A lot. But I need some kind of guarantees first.” He said, still not looking up from the table.
You scoffed. “Guarantees? We don’t play that here. You talk and shorten your sentence or you’re back in the holding cell until your hearing. It’s as simple as that.”
He rolled his eyes at your denial and stared at the ceiling before taking a deep breath. “All right.” Finally, he looked you in the eye. “What do you wanna know?”
You leaned forward to rest your elbows on the table. “Anything and everything you can tell us about the man you work for. Tell us about the man known around the streets as G-Dragon.” You emphasized his boss’ name mockingly.
He forced a chuckle. “GD… That is one crazy mother fucker. Let me just say that. I make my living on the streets and all but…I’ve seen that guy do some serious shit.”
“Well that’s nice and vague. Cut to the good stuff.” You rushed. “We need to know where he is.”
Jihun’s gaze started to wander around the room again. You could hear the light pitter patter sound of his boot tapping against the ground nervously. “He’s a sneaky dude, all right? I can’t just give you one spot.”
“The more the merrier.” You replied bluntly.
He took another deep breath. “All right, look, I’ll give you the address where him and the boys meet up and go over business. I won’t say it but I’ll write it down, all right?”
You didn’t reply. You pulled a blank page from the back of his file and slowly ripped off a corner before handing it to him, along with a pen from your pocket; your eyes didn’t leave his face once. You gave him a small nod. “Go ahead.”
With a shaking hand, he quickly scribbled down the address of a known abandoned warehouse just outside of Seoul; you silently cursed yourself for not thinking of it before. You grabbed the paper from him and put it in your pocket while you watched his nerves increase before your eyes.
“Listen, you’ve got to protect me. ‘Cause if you don’t then I’m a dead man.” He whispered, his eyes darting between you and Seunghyun who had barely done so much as clear his throat the past few minutes. You furrowed your brows at his paranoia while your partner made his first comment.
“I don’t believe him.”
You raised a brow towards Jihun, whose jaw immediately dropped while he stared at Seunghyun incredulously. “What?!”
“Would you take a lie detector test?” He responded calmly.
Jihun forced another nervous laugh. “No fucking way.”
It was your turn to chime back in. “No? Why’s that? You were all ready to tell us anything we wanted to know just a second ago. What’s the difference?”
“I know how that goes, all right? You hook me up to one of those things and start asking me all other kinds of questions and then you’ll get me for a bunch of shit I didn’t even do.” He piped back.
You chuckled. “And what didn’t you do, Jihun, huh? Are you telling me you didn’t aid G-Dragon in killing five men just last month? Or that you didn’t launder tens of thousands of dollars for him in various scams and shops you’ve got littered throughout town? And don’t even get me started on the loan sharking. What, now you don’t want to tell us about all that?” You questioned with a raised voice, now even more skeptic of the man than before.
“Look, I just fucking gave you an address! You put it in your goddamn pocket, lady! They meet there every fucking Tuesday at nine o’clock in the basement, with two men keeping watch across the street on both corners of 5th and 6th. Prove me wrong.”
You narrowed your gaze at him. The room momentarily filled with silence before you replied. “Now just tell us that on a polygraph.”
He ran his fingers through his dark hair in frustration. “Fuck you. I’m not doing that.”
You sighed. “All right then. Officer Choi, I think he’s made his decision.” You calmly replied in the direction of Seunghyun. “One of the other officers will escort you back to the cell, Mr. Park.”
“I gave you what you wanted! You’ve got to protect me, I’ll be fucking killed the second I walk out of here!” Jihun warned.
You chuckled one last time before following Seunghyun out the door. “With your charges, I think it’ll be a while before you walk out of here. But the court will take into consideration the information you have provided us today.”
Jihun’s yells became muffled to nothing as the door closed behind the two of you. You pulled the crumpled up piece of scrap paper from your pocket and stared at it while shaking your head. “He dropped this on us just like that.”
“I don’t trust it. I think we should pitch it.” Seunghyun quickly replied. “Here, I need to use the restroom anyway, I’ll just toss that out in the trash.” He commented with his palm reaching out to you.
You eyeballed him and his sudden urge to scrap a piece of evidence. “Now, now, just because he refused a polygraph doesn’t mean he bullshitted us. That piece of shit has been in and out of here for years, and he’s never given up information that quickly before. This is very strange, but most importantly; this right here is on record and he knows it.” You held the small folded up piece of paper in his direction for emphasis. “I say we look into it.”
He returned his arm back to his side while straightening his posture. “What would you like from me then?”
You smirked at him. “You’re going to accompany me on a bust, Officer Choi.”

Another Day Chapter 2
Undyne’s footsteps could be heard echoing through the caverns of waterfall as she was sprinting full speed on her way to school. She darted around every corner at high speeds at least for an eight-year-old. As she continued the route, she normally takes she could hear some talking up ahead and slowed down to a jogging speed not wanting to run into anyone. She would look out for the sounds for the voices only to see a couple monsters on a lower path of Waterfall. Upon a closer look she could see her best and nerdiest friend Alphys who seemed to be hanging out with Diamond Receptionist. As she was making her way by, she couldn’t help, but hear some of the conversation that was happening which caused her to come to a dead stop. “Come on you nerd just had over your homework and I’ll leave you alone.” It seemed that the only thing that was happening was bullying “I-I just don’t think it f-fair for you to t-take my homework.” Undyne knew very well her friend didn’t like confrontation which led to her never standing up for herself “M-Maybe I could just h-help you w-with your own hom-“ The monster was then interrupted by the diamond shaped one “Look I’m making this easy for you so just hand it over.”
By this point the Undyne was done watching and choose now was the time to intervene “Why don’t you just leave her alone diamond head!” the young guppy yelled while sliding down the hill followed by jumping off near the end and landing quite loudly between the two monsters making them both jump back “U-Undyne? I didn’t notice you nearby. We were just having a chat is all.” The diamond monster was now clearly nervous given the fact that Undyne was already known for her absurd physical and magical strength “More like you were bullying my best friend. If I ever catch you doing this again then you’ll be my target practice understand?” the young guppy then stomped the ground leaving some small cracks to show she meant business “O-Of course Undyne. It won’t happen again.” Just like that Undyne had Diamond Receptionist running away in a hurry “T-Thank you Undyne. You don’t always h-have to defend me.” The yellow monster spoke shyly as she felt bad for troubling her friend once again for her lack of courage “Don’t be silly Alphys. As your best friend it’s my job to make sure you aren’t pushed around and it’s what a Royal Guard would do. Next time you need to stand your ground, look your foe dead in their eye, and let them know you won’t be pushed around!” Undyne was trying to give her friend the confidence and courage to face her fears head on “I-I’ll try, though we should g-get to school before we’re l-late.” The young guppy then remembered that she was on her way to school “Right then I’ll get us there in no time and you can help with my training!” the younger monster was now fueled with a drive to get both of them there on time “How can I-I help?” suddenly Undyne picked up Alphys and began running towards school at to speed
Within moments both of the young monsters were at their destination with Undyne having worked up quite a sweat. Turns out sprinting full force and carrying another monster was more challenging that she thought, but the young guppy had made it so to her she won. She then set down Alphys who looked very dizzy “T-Thanks for the lift U-Undyne.” The yellow monster said in a haze still trying to recover “Don’t mention it bestie. Just remember what I said and don’t let any monsters push you around.” The young guppy said while giving the other a hard pat on the back. After that they went their separate ways as Alphys was in more advanced classes given how smart she is. The young monster made her way to her first class which was basic mathematics. Lucky for her she had no homework assigned yesterday from this class, though there was that test from the other day. As the teacher started handing the monsters back her test Undyne wasn’t really wanting to see her as she normally scored low, though soon enough hers was handed back. She slowly turned it over and was shocked to be revealed with a C+ along with a note which read ‘Excellent job Undyne!’ which made her give a small smile. This was her best grade yet in this class even if the score was still low compared to other monsters. After spending a little over an hour and a half in math the bell rang and she went to her next class which was science with Dr. Gaster. She always hated this class as the doctor always was the hardest on her and whenever she said something about it, she always got the excuse that it was because she had such potential and all that other stuff that adults say. Lucky for her Dr. Gaster had a headache so he just put on a video which they took notes on
She then went through history, social studies, and arts class before finally magic training came up which was of course her favorite class. It was the class she excelled at the most given her natural ability in magic as well as her high physical strength. She stepped onto the gym floor wearing her normal black tank top and a pair of shorts. The best part was the couch was none other than her mentor (slash father figure) Gerson “Alright listen up you youngsters. Today we’ll be taking it easy with a game of dodge ball.” The old turtle spoke with in a raspy voice showing just how old he was. Undyne normally accept whatever Gerson threw her way, but a simple game of dodge ball wasn’t intense enough for her “Can I be on a team by myself Coach?” all the other younger monsters turned to look at the young guppy and while most would laugh at such a thing all of them knew that Undyne wasn’t one to take lightly even if she wanted to be on a team alone
The old turtle stroked his chin thinking about it before giving his answer “Alright, but let’s have a clean match here. No below the belt, no magic, and no trash talking.” All the young monsters agreed to the terms and each took a side of the court with Undyne alone on one side and the rest on the other. The young guppy sized up the other team which had thirteen monsters in total while waiting for Gerson to blow the whistle and start the game. It was clear that all the other monsters were nervous about facing the young guppy, but some had confidence that their numbers could take her down. There was a long minute with no one making a move until finally the sound of the whistle was heard. Just as the monsters took one step towards the dodge balls Undyne was already far ahead of them and had claimed two only to chuck them full force and nailing two targets who didn’t even have a chance to dodge and managed to grab one more before the other team made it to the dodge balls. They all threw their dodge balls at Undyne at the same time which seemed like a good idea on paper, but the young guppy easily dodged most of them and deflected the others with the one in her hand. This gave the young fish monster control of most of the dodge balls
Undyne then stomped on the ground causing several of the dodge balls to go into mid air and just as quickly she kick or punched them at the enemy team each on hitting a target knocking out five more opponents leaving six more left. The six remaining monsters were now on guard looking for any openings, though one cracked under the pressure and simply threw wildly at the guppy who simply caught the ball with one hand while letting out a yawn at the monster who she just took out. The five monsters left all threw their dodge balls at random times, though Undyne simple dodged them all. She then the two dodge balls in her hands with each hitting before bouncing off and hitting the same monster leaving only two more. One of her remaining foes left was Diamond Receptionist who was shaking by this point. The diamond monster then gathered whatever courage she had left and threw her dodge ball only for the fish monster to dodge with a roll, pick up a dodge ball in the process, and throw it hitting the monster full force and knocking her flat on her back. The last monster that remained was none other than her friend Alphys to which she simply walked close to the line that separated the teams where the yellow monster stood on the other side and lightly tossed a dodge ball taking her out. Alphys let out a grateful smile that Undyne let her off easy, though that’s what the young guppy always did “Well it looks like Undyne was won the game. You young monsters can either rest or do some light exercises.” Hearing that all the monsters who just faced Undyne’s wrath choose to take it easy and rest while Undyne herself began to do full sprints around the gym.
Soon the bell rang thus ending the school day “Alright you youngsters. It’s time for you to head home. You all did a good job in today’s game and remember there is no losing only learning.” With that all the monsters went to the lockers, changed into their regular clothes, and began walking out of the school building. Almost all the monsters had their parents waiting for them while some were old enough to walk home alone. Undyne was going to talk to her friend Alphys, but saw she was busy talking to her parents and figured it’d be best to head on home. As she turned to leave, she found the yellow lizard suddenly cut her off “I-I’m glad I caught you before y-you left. I want to t-thank you for helping m-me today so h-here.” Alphys held out what appeared to be today's homework and the guppy quickly realized what her friend was trying to do. Undyne simply shook her head and pushed the homework back to the yellow lizard “Thanks for the offer Alphys, but I won’t get anywhere if I let people do work for me. To be part of the Royal Guard means you give everything your all and accomplish everything with your own determination.” It seemed the young guppy wasn’t going to accept the offer “Now I better get going or I’ll be behind on my training. Catch ya later Alphys.” With that the young fish monster walked off leaving the yellow lizard feeling let down that her help was rejected, but was more inspired by the small speech. As Undyne walked away from the school she could see Diamond Receptionist and some other monsters looking at her as they spoke. The young guppy simply shot them a look which caused the small group to rush off “Just another day I guess.”
