The morning after a night of passion Lily has to leave a soundly sleeping James, but she doesn't want to.

Lily lay staring at the skylight, and watched the patch of sky turn from black to indigo. She just gazed without moving, hardly even blinking as it gradually grew lighter and lighter. She had not been able to find any rest for more than a few brief snatches, as tired as she was. Her whole body zinged with electricity, her brain abuzz with everything that had happened last night and had continued to happen throughout the night. She glanced over towards the body sleeping soundly beside her, the sheets pooled around his waist showing his toned back. He had acquired some new tattoos in the six years since she had last seen him. When she’d remarked on the delicately detailed Lily that was now inked on his right side sweeping across his ribs, he had quipped back that it marked the spot where she had stuck her knife in him when she’d left him to pursue her career. That remark had stung more than she wanted to admit, even though she did deserve it. 

She had told him last night she never wanted to leave his side again, and she had meant it. Especially at that moment, standing in the bar he basically built, surrounded by the memories of their childhood. Engulfed by the overwhelming scent of James himself. At that moment it had been so easy to say yes to all of his questions, say yes to coming here to his place instead of going back to her hotel as she had planned. She wished she could stay in this moment, with the old day finished and the new not yet begun. In this bed with this man forever. But all too soon she would have to leave. She needed to get on a plane in a few hours. If she didn’t, then any dream she had to live in London permanently would be gone.

She glanced around James's attic room trying to see if he even had a clock. She was amazed that he still lived like this. There was a rail for his clothes and a bed so low it was almost like the mattress was on the floor. That was it. She hoped he didn’t live like this all the time, but she suspected his life and energy was spent at the bar.

It had looked so beautiful, the large dark polished oak panels and the brass rail, the small stage with the piano sitting proudly. And all the pictures on the walls of their schooldays. It had always been his dream to run a bar, and the four Marauders had made it a successful reality, but she knew who had been driving it from day one, and she was  incredibly proud of him for that.

She reached for her clutch bag and fumbled in it for her phone. It did not light up when she tapped the screen. Her battery must have died. 

Fuck.

She glanced over at James, still sleeping soundly, and contemplated waking him, but she knew he was exhausted. She had wiped him out, she thought to herself, suppressing a giggle, it had been a wonderful night. He had not forgotten any of the things he used to do to make her whole body hum, and he had learned a few new things too she had discovered. His strength and stamina had greatly increased. Not that she had expected him to hold himself chaste for her, but she still had a pang of jealousy at the thought that other women had touched him, had been with her James. Had they asked about his tattoo? She always thought of him as hers, even though she hadn’t exactly expected to ever come back to him that day she had left. Any time before now when she had considered it she talked herself out of it because she was convinced he would be with someone else.

She rolled over onto her back again, and looked up at the skylight. 

What time was it?

She’d hoped she wouldn't have to do this but she slid off the edge of the bed and took James’s phone out of the pocket of his jeans and opened it, shaking her head at the stubborn distrust for technology that meant he still used an old flip phone. Although at the moment Lily was grateful because she didn’t have to worry about unlocking it.

She tapped in the digits for her assistant's number as she crept into his ensuite, slipping on the dressing gown that was on a hook behind the door.

The phone rang just once before she heard an unsure “Hello?”

“Hey, Jess it’s me…”

“Lily!” came the scream, causing her to jump and nearly drop the phone. “Where the fucking hell have you been? I’ve been calling you all night. Your meeting has been moved up, you need to get to the airport right now!”

“What? Oh, fuck!” Lily took a breath and closed her eyes as her assistant kept rambling over the phone, talking so fast Lily could hardly understand them. “Jess, Jess, Jessie!” She tried to speak urgently and sharply without making too much noise. “I need you to bring me my bag and my suit, the green one. Put an extra pair of underwear in my bag.”

“I’m sorry, Lily, but your overnight bag won’t be enough, I've had to pack your suitcase, you’ll be staying for a week. They’ve sent a whole itinerary, but when we left Hong Kong I didn’t think to pack any of your formal wear. I’ve arranged for the concierge to book a fitting for after your first meeting, once you’ve checked in. Where are you anyway? I need to let Terrence know where we need to come and get you.” 

Lily went to answer then realised she had no actual idea of the address. It wasn’t far from the bar, she didn’t think. But she had been interested in other things besides looking out the car window to notice what neighbourhood they were in. Lily looked up as the door to the bathroom swung open gently, revealing a conscious James leaning against the frame wearing only his battered looking jeans, his tousled hair framing his tired-looking face and his glasses perching on the end of his nose, as if they were mere moments from falling off.

She let the phone fall from her ear slightly as he continued to stare at her, a wry smile reaching only the edge of his lips. 

“Something tells me you aren’t staying for breakfast.” His tone was light but she heard the resignation behind it. As she looked over at her childhood sweetheart, an idea struck her.

“Jess? You still there? Pick me up outside the Marauders’ Pub in Soho. Yeah? And Jess? I'm gonna need another plane ticket.”

“Well, okay boss but they are sending you a priv…..” Lily did not hear the last of her assistant’s words as she closed the flip phone and tossed it back to him.

“I can't believe you still use that antique.” He caught it deftly in his left hand and dropped it into his back pocket.

“I can’t believe I’m letting you dick around with my life again,” he replied, barely even trying to mask the disappointment.

“As much as I'd love to have this argument again, I really need you to pack yourself a bag. Do you have a good suit that fits you?”

He shook his head and blinked at her as she brushed past him to his rail of clothes and started looking through them. He still had some nice attire here, a lot of it she remembered from their life before.

“Lily, wait,” he called after her but she took no notice. She had no time. Already, in her head, she was mapping out what she needed to do. A whole week with these people. The one day originally planned would have been torture, but this... If she had back up maybe she could make it work.  “Stop.” He placed a hand on hers as it rested on the next coathanger. She looked up into his gorgeous eyes as they shone with all the colours as his emotions played out across his face. He was always so expressive. “What are you doing?”

“I want you to come with me.”

“I can’t.”

“Why not? You’re your own boss, you could take the time off. It’s not like you’re the only one in charge. What about Sirius? Or Remus? Or even Pete?” She paused, “Is Pete doing okay? I thought he wanted to go in a, erm, different direction but I saw his name up there with the rest of you?”

He sighed and rubbed his eyes under his glasses. “Pete is a silent partner, he helps out when he can but his wife made him join their family business, he helps by keeping them away.” His hand dropped to his side. “Lily I can’t afford to just drop everything, everybody else has other responsibilities, I’m the only one left to run it and I won't let it fail. My staff depends on me.”

“James, this is me telling you I don’t want to leave you again. I don’t want to go on this trip without you by my side, I could use someone in my corner. I could also use a devilishly handsome, charming, charismatic–” he raised an eyebrow at her seductive tone but didn’t stop her putting her hands on his chest, tracing the antlers that spread across them. 

 “My tattoos aren’t very corporate,” he murmured, his voice sounding deep and throaty. she shrugged in reply,

“You’d be surprised what people hide under their suits these days.” She told him with a twinkle, sobering when his lips thinned. “Please James. I need you.” She hadn’t realised how true those words were until she had spoken them to the universe.

“I’m sorry Lily, but my staff need me more. They rely on me.”

“So you’ve never taken a day off? Never had to call in sick?” Before he could answer her questions an idea struck her. “What if I pay your staff for the week? How much would that be?” He stood for a moment apparently stunned then started laughing and stepped away from her, sitting down on the edge of the bed. She tried not to look upset at his reaction to her suggestion. She stood watching him and waited for his mirth to subside.

“Oh, you are actually serious? You want to pay me so I will spend time with you?” He shook his head as his mirth still rippled through him. “This isn’t Pretty Woman and I’m not some, some...rentboy you picked up off the street.” 

Now he sounded angry. James’ phone started buzzing in his back pocket. She had not thought that offering to pay his staff would equate  to her hiring him as an escort service. Her brain hadn’t gone that way at all. She let him answer his call, as she rushed back to the bathroom for a much needed shower and tried to clear her head.

James may have skimped on bedroom furniture but he hadn’t skimped on his wet room. The shower was a walk-in style and big enough for four people, the naturally textured tiles on her feet were warm as she walked in, the large slabs of highly polished sand-coloured stone on the walls were so neatly fitted she couldn’t even see the joins. 

Turning on the shower filled the room with hot steam and the reassuring splats of water droplets peppering the tiles. Stepping into it, she gasped at the pressure. It was like standing in a tropical rainstorm. She just stood there unmoving, letting the water rush over her enjoying the sensation as it beat down on her head.

“That was your PA on the phone. I gave them this address so you can leave from here.” James said as he stepped into the bathroom like they did this kind of thing all the time. “Thought you might want to have some fresh clothes to wear.”

“You really won’t come?” She asked, trying one last time. She forced herself to keep her eyes forward when she realised he was joining her by the sound of his jeans hitting the tiled floor. 

Despite their recent intimacy, or perhaps because of it, being this close to his naked body turned her core white-hot. She tried very hard not to react as she felt his naked skin brush up against hers.  His arm reached past and grabbed an unlabelled metal bottle from the small alcove. Then his fingers were in her hair and her nostrils were filled with the scent of an English summer garden.

“Is it okay that I join you in here? Thought it would save some time.”

“Yes, okay, it’s absolutely fine,” she tried to keep her voice as neutral as his but even she could hear the breathiness.  

“I told your assistant I can’t, it’s not my scene at all,” he told her conversationally, as if he wasn’t standing butt naked behind her in the shower. He was trying to calm her down, trying to talk about what needed to be talked about. The fact they were taking a shower together didn’t seem to phase him at all. Determinedly, she tried to follow his lead.

“This is not me running away from you. I need you to understand that.” She hummed in pleasure as his fingers massaged deeper into her hair. “I’m sorry if I offended you, offering to pay.” 

 “I’m still not sure if I find it more funny or offensive,” he began. “I can’t say I’m not tempted to run away with you, but you know as well as I do how much of a distraction I would be. You need to be at your best. I will be fine, I’ll just have to trust you’ll come back. That you're not making me the poor jilted lover once more.” He told her. She wanted to tell him he didn’t need to worry, wanted to say all the things that she had agonised about saying as she lay awake beside him in his bed, but no words could adequately explain how she was feeling. So she turned and reached for him, pushing her fingers up across his stubble studded cheeks into his hair and kissing him soundly. Breaking the kiss he tilted her head back as his lips dragged kisses across her throat. She didn’t need to ask where his mind was right now, she could feel his arousal pressing against her stomach. All too soon her brain caught up with her and soundly put on the brakes. “Not that I don’t enjoy where this is going, but we need to stop.” She took a few quick breaths as his hands continued to soap her breasts. “I don’t have the time and I’m a little tender.”

“You were the one who started things, Evans. I was just helping you wash,” he said innocently, amusement dancing in his eyes. But he did take his hands off her body and even though she had asked him to, she mourned the loss of contact. “In all honesty, I don’t think I have it in me right now to perform at my best anyway.” 

“Let’s just put this on pause for now then shall we?” She told him, giving him a gentle kiss, hoping he understood how much he continued to mean to her. Lily dipped her head to rinse the bubbles out of her hair. It felt like silk as she combed her fingers through it.

“What is that shampoo? It’s amazing!”

“It’s a prototype. Remus’ company makes it, the only thing that’s come close to making my hair behave. He’s made it his personal mission to tame it. He gives me a new formula just about every week.” He pointed to the small bathroom cabinet above the sink. “The conditioner’s in there, it's one you have to leave in. I put towels on the hook.” She stepped aside once she was rinsed, letting him have the full force of the shower. 

“Does he always make it smell like flowers?”

“Yup.” She expected him to elaborate but when he didn’t she just let it go and stepped out of the shower. She found the small spray bottle in the cabinet simply labelled conditioner and scrunched some into her hair as she watched James wash his. The bubbles slid down his frame in ways that made her wish she could just step back in there with him.

Lily wished she could continue to stare at him but her logical brain was kicking in to tell her all that she still had to do. Moving back to the bedroom, she twisted her hair up out of the way while she looked for anywhere he would store things. There wasn’t even a cupboard in the bedroom so she padded her way through to the living space. She barely remembered it from the night before, and she was stunned at how minimally he lived.

It was a beautiful apartment, the exposed red brick looked amazing with the warm honey-coloured wooden floor. The living space was a good size for London, the kitchen looked brand new with a wooden worktop that matched the floor and clean white cupboards. She spotted the coffee machine, and hunted in the cupboards to see if he had any beans, suppressing her irritation when every one was empty. 

The more she looked around his place, the less it felt like he lived here at all. There was a giant modular brown leather sofa taking up the majority of space in the living area, a coffee table that looked like it was made out of granite, and a giant tv on the wall. 

“What is this place to you James Potter?” She mused as she looked around. She was tempted to start rummaging in drawers (if there were any) but it felt like possibly a step too far for now. 

The intercom buzzed impatiently making her jump guiltily and nearly drop her towel. As she stared at the white box on the wall and wondered how to operate it James came striding out of the bedroom holding a hand towel around his waist, hair still dripping. He lifted the receiver then buzzed to let the person come up. “It’s your assistant.” He explained before vanishing back to the bedroom.

Lily stood looking through the peephole until she saw her assistant's blonde head appear from the stairs.

She opened the door and ushered them in quickly. Taking the bag from them awkwardly with one hand.

Jessie looked around and hummed appreciatively. “This is nice, you could do a lot with this place. When are they moving in?”

“I don’t know,” Lily replied quietly. “I’m going to go change. Can you play nice with James, please? It would be great if you two get on.”

“Well I’ll behave if he will,” Jessie swept an invisible strand of hair out their face before relenting to Lily’s reproachful look. “Alright, alright. When we spoke on the phone they were pleasant so I can be too.” 

“Great, I’ll be super quick,” as she made her way back into the bedroom James stepped out wearing that same pair of jeans he seemed incredibly fond of and one of his many black Marauders Pub t-shirts. He put out a hand to stop her as she tried to slip past him.

“I’m going to get out of your hair,” he said quietly. She could tell by the tone he didn’t want to be here when she left, didn’t want to be the one left waving by the door. She understood that in an instant, saw it in his sad eyes, and the hesitant touch he placed on her arm. 

“Okay.” With a glance at her assistant she walked him back into the bedroom. “This was not how I wanted this to go,” she said, keeping her voice down once she knew they were alone.

“Saying goodbye brings back bad memories,” he told her shuffling his feet and running a hand through his hair. “I want to believe you're coming back this time.”

“Of course I’m coming back. I’ll call you, every day. But could you do something for me?” She asked, reaching to snake her arms around his neck.

“Can you get yourself a new phone so we can video chat?”

“Yes, Evans I think I can manage that,” he told her, leaning down to kiss her goodbye for the last time.

Sometimes you gotta flee on a platform you had forgotten existed bc toxic people don’t want to be not toxic

Like. We just RTed a tweet that works for anyone who don’t even begin to try and SEE Eichi is not actually a bad person.To tell thm that maybe they want to see more and understand. And that person posts “No fun allowed”. The day before they had posted “worst event. Worst ship.” bc they hate E and love W.

The three people “implied” in this sort of cold war are 28-30.(I’m the 30 person).

And I can’t believe we’re having this sort of cold war over FICTIONNAL CHARACTERS just because 29 can’t accept that 1) not hating character for invalid reasons is a thing, 2) listening to the entirety of your friends who have been trying to help you for two years and not spending their money when you shouldn’t even need it is a thing either.

I have a hypothesis why they would hate that character for no reason though. I have no idea if it’s actually coherent or the truth or anything, but they are not coherent in the first place and they’re being really really toxic.

So, Hated Character is 28′s favorite character (hence the cold war) and a character I love too.

28 and I are best friends, have been for long and are very close (I mean. We’ve seen many, many things together, lived in the same area and all so we saw each other like everyday before I left my country)

29 and I are close friends too and have lived lots of things together too, just not the same ones. Lived farther, couldn’t see each other as much. But 29 is also very depressed and financially irresponsible, which makes the situation worse.

29 tried to enter 28 and my relationship. Which is. 28 and my relationship. I don’t mind introducing my friends with each other, I’ve done that many times in the past and it sometimes worked well, sometimes didn’t. So, creating a relationship with the three of us : sure. Having 29 enter an already established relationship (I FORGOT TO MENTION BUT THAT’S A FRIENDSHIP OK) with its own past, its own stories, its own rules : Nope. Never. Ever.

In the meantime, 29 started insulting Hated Character very, very violently (he’s a fucking FICTIONNAL CHARACTER and yes, he did bad things, but he also showed remorse and his Bad Character period was 1) over in like a month, 2) shown as something he felt like he had to do to improve things in his story and actually set bases to the main story, 3) something he really isn’t proud of and is reflecting on in the new stories. 

28 didn’t like seeing their fav character being insulted for no reason.

I didn’t like it either bc the way he was insulted showed that 29 hadn’t even tried to read the story.

We had had this discussion in private like 10 times.

29 didn’t like that they couldn’t insult Hated Character for no reason in public.

28 & I had the audacity of vagueing ON OUR PRIVS about how one should maybe NOT do that bc wow that’s not nice to people who actually like characters others hate??

29 didn’t like that, blocked us from their priv so they could keep insulting Hated Character on their private account without us telling them about it.

28 got angry, also blocked 29 from their privated account.

I just thought “whatever, if you can’t trust us that’s your problem” and did not block them. Now I’m thinking that maybe I should have, bc here I am, ranting on them on the lone plateform they can’t see.

29 re-followed me and re-alowed me to follow them which I am glad for bc it helped me helped them.

So. What I believe happened:

29 attributed Hated Character to 28 bc that’s 28′s fav.

29 attributed Pink Character (that I do not like bc he reminds me of a toxic person I had freshly escaped; and 28 does not like for reasons they do not understand themselves, probs their looks) to themself.

Who they attributed to me is a mystery and tbh I don’t care. Maybe they didn’t attribute any character to me.

And then started hating on Hated Character bc of jealousy bc they could see my relationship with 28 and were unable to get the same. Which. Is. Obvious. Like. I can’t have two identical relationships with two different people.

28&29 never got along very well and it’s getting worse and worse bc both tend to hold grudges for way too long and though 28 tries to make efforts, 29 really doesn’t and just acts like a leech towards anyone that has approached them. 

In the meantime :

29 tried to attribute a character to another without knowing the slightest thing about them, ignored me completely when I told them to BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT THEY RT bc the character itself is a massive spoiler, got angry when I didn’t approve their ways. Went to complain on their priv, about : 1) How they WeRe AlWaYs WrOnG wHaTeVeR tHeY dId (well maybe stop assuming things about a character you don’t know and stop ignoring people who tell you to fucking BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT YOU RT), 2) how they could never enter my friendship with 28 (which. is. totally normal???).

Right at the same time, I was informed that people have started to understand what 29 was doing with the money they got and didn’t appreciate it. I didn’t either.

Annoyed by the toxicity, I muted their priv. Then, I heard things about 29 that I wish were lies about the way they deal with their money and the money others give them. (Basically : earns more money than I am, has a bigger flat for way cheaper, has cats but still manages to not be able to pay doc bills for themselves and the poor cats)

29 probs noticed I had muted their priv or at least that I had stop responding to the provocation (they had started posting more and more toxic tweets as time passed and I couldn’t bear w/ it, especially at that time bc my life was about to change a LOT and I was so stressed my health deteriorated). So they started provocating on their main.

I have like 4 account on twitter that they follow (only one doesn’t follow her back bc I don’t even know why she followed it in the first place). I muted their main on my main. Then on my priv. Then very recently on my second main, bc they were talking a lot about things I wasn’t interested in and sometimes managed to provoke between two of these.

28 recently muted their main too, but recently discovered tweets about Hated Character x Other Character Very Cannonically Shipped with Them that 29 Loves.

28 RTed a tweet saying that maybe people who hate on a character without knowing them SHOULD learn more about the hated character before talking, which was quoted with a picture of Hated Character.

29 took it Very Personally (which they should in this case but also works with all the people that hate characters for bad reason as well) and posted “no fun allowed”.

Please fucking tell me what’s so FUN about hating a character you don’t know and insulting him on social media especially when you have AT LEAST THREE MUTUALS that love him (yes we also have a friend who has Hated Character as their fav but for some reason they do not get the hate 28 and I are getting? 

HOW WEIRD HUH

29 insisted a lot on how they love me and admire me and put me on a pedestal which I honestly think is toxic as fuck and clearly very untrue considering their reactions to SIMPLE RTs AND REMARKS.

Also, they claim to be “alone” whenever something just doesn’t go their way. Which is very clearly untrue bc they always manage to get out of their own shit (by begging money from others and then they keep buying things they don’t have the money for and then claim it’s WeLl BuDgEtTeD (spoilers : if you buy it and can’t pay all your bills then it’s not)).

Urgh. It just makes me so angry, even though I said I do not have the time or energy for that bc I started working full time recently. I’m not even fully adapted to my new life yet. Fuck it. Someday I’ll just start unfollow 29 for good if they keep acting like an asshole.

Tips for Seniors/Juniors in High School (Plan on Going to College) College Admissions Advice #1

So when I was a Junior/Senior i remember freaking out about what college I wanted to go to and what I wanted to be and whatever

NOW I know I want to be an educator and help teens through this time because I remember how stressful this process was.

So here’s a 10 Tip thread I made for Jr/Seniors in HS who plan on applying to college

Look first of all, let me just say a disclaimer: I am not a college admissions person, this was just my experience with the California’s college application system.

So in my experience: I had the luxury of applying to 10 colleges (8 pub, 2 Priv) all in California #blessfeewaivers

The schools I applied to all ranged from prestigious to average but most of them happened to be my safety schools.

I wanted to point this out bc that was one of the things you SHOULDN’T DO when applying to college.

Don’t doubt yourself

When applying to college, many people get too caught up on rankings and whether they can get in the college or not.

And I was the same way. I even made a list

p>When I was applying to college the main factors I looked for in a school were:

Prestige

Size of school

Weather

WOKE OR NOT

Difficulty to get in

How far was it from home

Etc

So make a list of what you want in a college. Especially if you want to dorm. You know what you want whether it be a school by the beach, or a school in a large city etc

Colleges won’t fit everything on your list, but if they do, congratulations you have found your dream school.

Apply to dream schools even if your dream school is insane to get into or it’s far away or whatever, apply to it!!

DREAM SCHOOLS DO NOT HAVE TO BE THE BEST SCHOOLS, THEY ARE NOT SYNONYMOUS ALTHOUGH THEY SOMETIMES CAN BE

Your dream school is the place you feel like you’d flourish AND fits the criteria you have set for yourself

Nobody should ever make you feel ashamed of your dream school because in the end if you get in you’ll be happy

Also, apply to places even if you doubt you’ll get in. They may not be your dream school but they might turn out to be.

You’ll have a better chance of getting in if you apply compared to the literal 0 chance you’ll have if you don’t apply.

Just have the guts to apply to your “dream school” or a school you really like aight.

But also realize that if you’re applying to less that 5 schools, then maybe you should consider some safety schools.

Apply to safety schools but not too many like me :)))))

These schools are not even schools that are low in “ranking” They are just schools you wouldn’t mind going to but the point is you’ll def get in.

Apply to schools you feel are what you want without focusing on your major too much

Be aware that yes your major might “matter” but apply to places that interest you as a whole. Your major might change. Your school, probably not.

And know what your comfortable with. Personally, I wanted to go to a school close enough to come home on then weekends but still be able to dorm.

Apply to private schools if you fit any of these 1. You got a dank scholarship 2. You’re not planning on dorming 3. Dream school 4. You’re rich 5. You got a fee waiver and why not

Private schools can be fucking expensive. They are smaller and have a “better quality education” but know that price is the main factor.

Many private schools in Cali offer really good education such as Stanford and USC

But unless they offer you a private school education at a public school price they can put you into some serious debt

Many of them also offer very little financial aid but do give out substantial scholarships. I was offered a $26,000 scholarship to a $65,000 school ???

So unless you have a fee waiver, applying to one of those schools and doing the work for it may not be all it’s cracked up to be in the end.

Work on your personal statement EARLY ASF

THE BIGGEST THING WHEN APPLYING TO COLLEGE IS THE PERSONAL STATEMENT SO IF YOU STRESS OUT ABOUT ANYTHING IT SHOULD BE THIS

Your personal statement is the only place in your college application that you can bluntly state: “IVE STRUGGLED IN LIFE PLEASE ACCEPT ME”

Depending on your past you either dread writing about you or you have nothing to write about.

But seriously start early. And if you don’t know where to start, just free write.

I had a dream and the following day I wrote about that shit and I actually used it in my essay. (As a metaphor)

Apply to Financial Aid and Look & apply for scholarships!

My decision on the school I finally chose had SOO much to do with financial aid.

Some schools sometimes will offer you little to no financial aid and if your a broke bitch like me you’re counting on that financial aid

If paying for college is a factor in your decision plan ahead, like start now.

Career Centers are your holy grail when talking about financial aid and colleges in general.

Look for scholarships to apply to ahead of time and get all the shit you need in order for you to submit them. (Letters of Recs)

Speaking of Letters of Rec, if you are planning on applying to a private school, most likely they will ask you for 2 or more letters of rec

So… 8. Make a Bragging Sheet

A bragging sheet is like a resume but for high school. Make a google doc and put down EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE IN HS OR ANYTHING THAT IS WORTHY OF MENTIONING

For example - Associative Student Body 2020-2024 - (Leadership Role: if any) [And then put a brief description of what y'all do but in a profesional manner]

My teacher made me do this after I asked him to write me a letter of rec and it helped me sooo much bc

This helps bc it will give your teachers (those who will write your letter or rec) something to say about you in their letter.

And make sure to give it to every teacher/ counselor that way they know exactly what they should put in your LetOfRec

If you’re a person who has done a lot of activities in HS, this will help bc most applications will ask you what you’ve done

Scholarships ask you what activities you’ve done in HS and you’ll have them all written down on this doc and all you have to do is copy it

It honestly comes in handy guys and it’s really easy to make. Google Bragging Sheet/Letter for more info about how to set it up

Do test scores matter when applying to college? ACT? SAT? AP? Answer: Yes and No

AP scores only matter if the schools you’re applying to actually give you credit for the test you’ve passed

However, if you are planning to go to a UC, AP English Scores are SUPER IMPORTANT so pass them at least with a 3. Or retake them if you can.

AP scores are also important depending on your major. If you are heading towards a STEM major they can help you gain credit in that area.

As for SAT and ACT scores, they matter depending on the school you’re applying to.

Applying to a more prestigious school, and having a better test score puts you at a greater advantage

But there are many cases where people get accepted to their dream school having really good curricular activities and average test scores

Don’t stess too much

The actual college application is fairly easy to navigate. Especially the UC app. But do not wait until the last day!!!

For a couple of years now the website to submit your application will crash the day the app is due so try to finish it at least two days before

But if you do your bragging sheet, those applications will be so easy bc all you have to do is copy and paste what you already have.

Colleges want to see that you saw high school as a 3 sided Pie Chart filling in Academics, Sports, and Extracurriculars

They want to see that even if you didn’t play sports, you excelled in academics or vice versa.

In the end, any school is going to help you get to where you want to go as long as you also put in the effort to make your dreams happen.

Maybe some schools will get you there faster but how would I know, I’m barely starting that path myself lol

So someone asked for ch. 30? :) Feedback please!!:D

Will did his best to put himself into the orientation group as best he could. He was anxious to get back to Nico. He had gone over how to ask him on a date in his head over and over. He’d gone over every possible response he would get, he’d gone over how to lead up to it, everything.

He was driving himself insane. He just wanted to spit it out and ask.

Instead he was still saying goodbye to future freshmen, exchanging Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat accounts. When he was finally done, he returned to the others in charge of orientation and waited for them to clear the rest of their responsibilities. It almost seemed like they were prolonging on purpose.

It was late evening by the time Will was able to text Nico about going over again.

He knocked on the door and waited, feeling jittery. He wanted to wait to ask. He wanted to watch a movie or eat a Stouffer lasagna or something before asking about the date. He didn’t want to seem overly anxious and impatient about it… even though he was….

The door hadn’t opened. He knocked again and rang the doorbell. A few moments later, the door remained closed. He frowned and texted Nico again. He scanned the parking lot for his car and his motorcycle, and he found them quickly. So where was Nico?

He decided instead to call, but was forwarded to voicemail.

Panicking, he sent him a text again. Nico where are you? I’m worried.

No response. Will texted him again, asking if he was okay. No response. He called again and it was forwarded to voicemail.

He wanted to know he was okay. Even if he didn’t want to talk, Will was fine with that. Nico had told him he wanted to work on pulling himself up instead of relying on someone else, and Will understood that. He just wanted a response so he would know that he was safe, that he was okay.

And he wasn’t getting one.

It didn’t help that Nico’s friends were all out of town so none of them would know where the hell he was. Will hadn’t talked to him all day because he was busy with school, so he had no idea what might have brought on whatever state of mind he was in or even how severe it was.

He felt useless with only the phone in his hand. His messages and calls were getting him nowhere, and he had no idea on where to start looking for him if both of his transportation methods were parked nearby. He didn’t even know if Nico was receiving his calls and texts or if his phone was off or out of battery.

He began knocking on the door incessantly, calling back to back. He knew he was probably pissing Nico off, but he preferred dealing with an angry Nico than one that was unconscious somewhere. “Nico, open the door!” he called. “I’m begging you Nico, please!”

Finally, the door swung open and he saw Nico looking furious with a with messy hair and the same jeans from the last time he’d seen him and a tank top. The long scars on his arms gleamed white against his olive skin. “I have neighbors,” he hissed.

“Well you should’ve answered my calls or texts,” Will answered, just as curtly.

“I want to be alone, Will!” he shouted, running his hand aggressively through his hair. “Don’t you get that? I don’t answer for a reason, just go away and leave me alone! I’ll get back to you later just go away, please!” Will was about to ask if he was okay when Nico scowled and yelled, “I’m fine!” and shut the door in his face.

Feeling furious, Will groaned and turned away. He got in his car and got something to eat and went back to his dorm, not wanting to look at his phone. He was beyond angry. It wasn’t that he didn’t respect Nico wanting to be alone or wanting to deal with things on his own. He did. He knew that’s what Nico had been working on during the last few months with his therapist.

He just wished Nico would’ve let him know that he was okay.

Will couldn’t help but let his mind run. He wondered if Nico had given in and gotten drunk until he passed out somewhere. He wondered if he’d gone to do some reckless thing like he used to. He imagined him in the most extreme circumstances. All because he hadn’t answered.

Instead of mulling over Nico, he called Cecil and met up with him at his apartment where he was rooming with his older sibling. “Where’s your brother?” he asked.

“On a date or something,” Cecil answered. “Why do you looked pissed?”

“I’m fine,” he said, playing dumb. “This is a nice little place. You want to watch a movie?”

“Sure.” He opened the movie cupboard and beckoned Will over to look at some of the titles. They shifted through the movies and when they finally chose one to watch. While putting it on the door opened, and a guy who looked like Cecil but more chiseled and rugged walked in through the door.

“I thought you said he was on a date,” Will questioned.

“I said ‘or something,’” Cecil said. He turned to his brother. “Hey, Jake. This is Will.”

Hazel eyes flitted to Will and he waved. “Hey. I’m Jacob. What are you guys doing?”

“We’re about to watch a movie. Want to watch with us? It’s Blades of Glory.”

Jake smiled and nodded, going to the kitchen and pulling out popcorn before sitting with them. “I love this movie.” As the trailers played, the popcorn finished and Jake put it into a bowl for the three of them.

As the movie started, Will received a text. It was from Nico. Feeling spiteful, he ignored it and tossed his phone aside. If Nico wanted to be alone, fine. He didn’t get to just yell at Will then expect Will to forgive him with a snap of his fingers. Not after worrying him that much then getting mad at him for it.

He watched the movie with his friend and Jake, which he supposed he could count as a friend now. He was funny and seemed easy to get along with. He was about five years older than Cecil, but he didn’t talk down to them. The way he treated Cecil, with that playful fighting and teasing, but obvious affection, made Will wonder what it would’ve been like to have an older sibling instead of being the oldest.

After the movie, they were sitting on the floor laughing while Jacob drank a beer leisurely and Cecil munched on Cheetos and Will unwrapped Kit-Kat after Kit-Kat. “Hey, Will your phone’s lighting up,” Cecil noted, looking at the phone which was a few feet away from them.

“Leave it,” he muttered, chewing on his chocolate.

“Are you and Nico fighting?”

“No, not necessarily. I’m just mad at him.” Cecil raised an eyebrow and Jake furrowed his.

“Do I get an explanation?” he asked. “Do I want one?”

“It’s not important,” Will said. Cecil crossed his arms and Will rolled his eyes. “What? It really isn’t. We’re not dating or anything. We’re just friends.”

Cecil threw a Cheeto at him and looked over at his brother. “They spend just about all day together, they’ve dated before, they are basically a couple now they just haven’t made it official! Sure as hell argue like one.”

Will felt his cheeks burning, and he looked down. “No we don’t,” he mumbled. “This is actually the first time we’ve argued since he got out of the hospital….” Will cringed at the memory. Before Will knew what was happening, Cecil grabbed his phone and unlocked it. “Cecil! That’s an invasion of priv- dammit why don’t I ever put a stupid lock on my phone.”

Cecil scrolled and frowned. “He’s apologizing and asking to talk.” Cecil looked up. “What happened?” Jake crawled over to read over his brother’s shoulder and furrowed his eyebrows. “You were pissed when you got here.”

“It’s stupid, okay, it’s not important!” he protested. He sighed and shook his head. “He disappeared so I kept calling to see where he was, to know if he was safe. I didn’t mind if he wanted to be alone, I just… panicked. So I got annoying I guess and he got mad at me and told me to go away so… I did. And now I’m upset because he was being selfish and now he wants to apologize and talk, but I’m not going to be at his beck and call anymore!”

“Whoa, okay, hold on,” Jake said, holding his hands up. “Look, I get it, you’re upset. But you’re doing the same thing he did to you. Isn’t that a little hypocritical?” Will hesitated. “I’m not saying to go to him now or something, I just mean tell him no or tell him to wait or something. Otherwise you’re doing the same thing.”

Will scoffed, but couldn’t deny that he had a point. He groaned and held his hand out for his phone. Cecil tossed it to him and Will scrolled through the handful of apologies and requests to talk. He finally managed to type out a response that wasn’t too passive-aggressive.

I’m a little busy right now. We can talk later. Feel better.

He put his phone up and crossed his arms. “Okay. Done. Now, can we get off this subject?”

“Why are you so upset if this isn’t a relationship?” Jake asked.

Will took a deep breath and ran his hand through his hair. “Because… I… um…. Well I wanted to ask him on a date… then maybe to actually… be my boyfriend. But if he’s going to keep pulling things like this-!”

“Wait!” Cecil shouted, cutting him off. “Before you finish that sentence and back out of this, can we just…. Dude, you need to communicate. Figure out what the hell his problem was, then explain yours. Fix the problem before it gets worse or repeats.”

“Communication is key,” Jake agreed. “Especially in relationships. Especially if this is your first fight in a while. Don’t let one bad day ruin all the amount of time you say you’ve had as friends. In a relationship, it’s not all perfect. There’s going to be arguments, but that doesn’t mean each one will be the last. You just… also shouldn’t make a habit of it. Make sense?” Will nodded and bit his lip. “Just talk to him once you’ve both slept on it. Then see if you’re still willing to try.”

Of course I still want to try, he thought. I love him. But he just nodded. Then Cecil grabbed another movie and the topic was left alone.

The next day, Will was reading a book at the park, trying to clear his head and stop mulling over the future conversation with Nico. Finally, his phone rang and he hesitated for a few seconds before answering. “Hello?”

“Um… I know this is really selfish,” Nico’s voice croaked on the other end, causing a cold feeling to spread through Will’s chest. “But I can’t handle today alone. I’m sorry about yesterday, I really am. I know you’re still mad, but… I… I….”

“I’m on my way, Neeks,” he said softly, not needing him to finish. He got back to his car and drove to Nico’s apartment, knocking hesitantly. When the door opened, Nico looked even more run down than the day before. He was in the same clothes, his hair more disheveled, his eyes tired and dim. “What happened?” he asked.

Nico’s chest heaved and he shook his head. “I don’t… I don’t know, I…. Goddammit!” He turned away, yanking at his hair with his hands. Will walked in after him, his worry skyrocketing when he saw that Nico was shaking. “This stupid feeling doesn’t go away!” he growled. “I’m trying so hard to stop, I have no reason to feel like this, but I can’t stop!” He looked at Will with such intense desperation in his eyes that Will hated himself for not knowing how to make that pain go away.

“What’s the point?” he cried, putting a shaking hand against his cheek. His nails dug into the skin and Will kneeled beside him, to pull his hands away. Nico seemed to deflate and the rage and panic turned into tears. He was still shaking, but he seemed to have run out of strength. When he spoke, his voice was raw and broken. “I’m going to this stupid therapist every week, and nothing’s changed. I’m seeing a fucking psychiatrist, taking fucking anti-depressants, and they do nothing! Nothing is working! Why am I so fucked up, why aren’t I getting better?” He looked at Will with a tear streaked face. “I’m trying ­so hard and it’s not working, Will. I just want to get better!”

Will looked at him with wide eyes and furrowed eyebrows. Since when was Nico on anti-depressants? He took a breath and pushed his hair back, wiping his cheeks gently with the back of his hand. “You are getting better, Nico,” he whispered. “Slowly, but you are.” Nico shook his head, and Will forced him to look in his eyes. “Are you still drinking each time you get upset?” Nico shook his head. “Are you still going out trying to hurt yourself in some accidental way to distract from the pain?” He shook his head and began to speak, but Will didn’t let him. “Are you still smoking two packs a week, going to party every weekend, getting so drunk you can’t walk, and kissing strangers?”

“No,” he moaned.

“Then you have gotten better,” he insisted, his voice angry and strong with the need to get the fact through Nico’s head.

Nico’s face crumpled and he put his hands over Will’s. “But I still need you,” he whimpered, fresh tears spilling from his eyes. Will was rendered speechless. “I don’t want to need you, Will. Because you can disappear. You can go away. And then what do I do?” Will took a shaky breath and used his thumb to catch a tear sliding down Nico’s cheek.

Nico sniffed and continued. “Yesterday, when I was ignoring you… it was because I was upset because of you.” Will frowned and waited. “I felt so lonely. I know I have you, but… there’s a difference in a friend’s company, and the company of someone you can hold and kiss….” His voice broke, and he looked down, his cheeks tinging pink. “I had something so good. So fucking amazing. And I let it go because I’m so fucked up in the head. And I don’t know if that’ll ever go away for good, Will. I still don’t think I’m good enough for you. I still think you deserve something better. And I hate that. I hate knowing I lost you. That I let you go. I hate remembering what it was like to wake up with you, to kiss you, to laugh with you when we were driving, not even sure about where we’re going. Because I think of now, and how careful we have to be about what we say and how you’re always in a different room when I wake up, how right now anyone can catch your attention and take you on a date and you have every right to go.” He gasped for breath through the rambling and the crying. “I was angry with myself for losing you. I didn’t want to talk to you or look at you and remind myself of it even more. I just wanted to be alone. And now here I am,” he said, his voice cracking, falling to a whisper. “Begging you to come back. Because I need you.”

Will gulped and took a deep breath. He lifted Nico’s chin and slipped his hand out from under Nico’s, pushing his hair back again. “It’s okay to need people, Nico,” he whispered, not trusting his voice. “It’s okay to be vulnerable sometimes. Sometimes you get hurt. But sometimes you get something great out of it.” He thought of how angry he was with himself for being vulnerable to Nico when they broke up. But he also thought of all those happy moments that led to the love he felt now. “And you didn’t lose me. I’m still here. I’m here for you. I wasn’t angry because you wanted to be alone. I understand that.” He frowned and paused, waiting for Nico to look up at him instead of down in embarrassment. When he finally settled those warm, heartbroken dark brown eyes on him, he continued. “You have every right to want to be alone. To be secluded from others. To be away and to not talk to anyone. I just needed to know you were safe. Physically okay. That you knew you could reach out to me if it was too much. You don’t have the right to just disappear and leave no word of where you are or if you’re alive or conscious or-” he stopped, reminding himself to stay calm.

He sighed. “One day, I walked into the hospital. And I went about my work like I did every other day.” He gulped and looked into his eyes wanting to get his point across. “And then I ran into Leo. And he asked me if I had heard that you’d been admitted the night before. The only reason they knew was because the hospital called them. I don’t even know how you got to the hospital, Nico.” Nico shut his eyes and sighed. “When you didn’t answer yesterday, I didn’t know if you had gone to a bridge because it was an exceptionally bad day. I didn’t know if you’d wandered off into the woods. I didn’t know if you’d walked to a bar to drink it away until you were passed out in an alley or in the back of someone’s van! I just wanted to know you were okay.” He leaned forward and pressed their foreheads together. “In case you haven’t noticed… I need you too, Nico.” A sob escaped Nico’s lips and he fell forward against him, and Will wrapped his arms around him, cradling him, rocking him, holding him tightly to keep him together.

“You’re doing so well, Neeks,” he whispered. “You’re doing better. You’re a good person. I know you’re trying; I can see it. It’s okay. A bad day, a bad week, it’s okay. Shh.” Nico’s arms wrapped around him, his hand clinging to him desperately.

When his shaking and crying subsided, Will pulled back and wiped his face again. His eyes were red and puffy. “You should know that I want to be here. I’m happy you come to me. You’re not a burden, Nico.” Nico slipped his hand into Will’s and gripped it tightly. He was calmer. Exhausted, probably both physically and mentally. “Come on. Let’s get you to bed. When you wake up, you can take a shower.”

Nico stood with him and Will led him to his bedroom. Nico’s bed was messy, with covers tangled in each other, half on the floor, and his pillows scattered. Nico climbed into it carelessly, not letting go of Will’s hand. “Could you… stay until I fall asleep?” he asked softly. “Please?”

Will nodded and sat beside him. Nico placed his head in his lap and Will pulled the covers over him and began stroking his hair. “Since when are you on anti-depressants?” he asked softly.

“Just two months,” he whispered. “It’s a pretty low dose…. The psychiatrist said I have to move up slowly.”

“Which medication?”

“Zoloft.” Will hummed. “I didn’t want to tell you because I was scared it wouldn’t work. I was scared I’d disappoint you.” Will sighed and draped an arm over him, using his other to continue stroking his hair. “Hey, Will?” He hummed. “You know how I said you have the right to say yes to a date with someone else?”

“Yeah,” he answered.

There was a pause before Nico whispered the rest. “Would you consider doing that?”

Will bit his lip and sighed. “I did. Once. Early on,” he said. Nico turned, looking up at him. Curiosity was the only thing in his eyes. “I was at the hospital, watching over this little girl that had a severe asthma attack. She was with her older brother and he asked me on a date. I thought… you and me were completely done. So I said I’d think about it. Then you decided to tell me you were starting therapy that day. I’m pretty sure it was the same day.”

“What did my going to therapy have to do with it?” Nico asked.

Will tilted his head and twirled a dark strand of hair around his finger. “I realized it wasn’t over for you. And I realized how much you were willing to do to try again. And we became friends again…. Suddenly I wasn’t so sure we were absolutely done.” He looked at Nico and paused for a moment before continuing. “The guy ended up getting back to me later. Asking me for that date. I said yes to get him to finally leave me alone. I didn’t tell anyone, not even Paolo.” Nico’s eyebrows rose. “And it was… awkward.”

“What was he like?”

“Funny. Nice. Very… free, I supposed is the word. He liked to roll with things. I don’t know. He was okay. He kissed me.” That sentence was the first to make Nico’s expression harden. Satisfied, for some reason, Will went on. “I wasn’t into it. I told him I couldn’t keep seeing him. I got back to campus and forgot about him until Leo brought him up. He was there, and he saw the kiss. So he asked about it.” Will shook his head. “Haven’t considered it since.”

Nico hummed and turned on his side again. “If he was… nice and funny and all that… why’d you stop after one date?”

Will waited for a moment before responding. Will bit his lip and stopped running his hands through Nico’s hair. “Because he wasn’t you.” Nico stopped breathing. His body froze, and he looked back at Will his eyes bright and shocked on Will, making him breathless and nervous all over again. Will grasped onto that strand of bravery that had overcome him and forced himself to keep talking. “Yesterday… when I stopped by… I actually wanted to ask you something. I don’t know if now’s a good time, or if you’re even… ready. But I… um.” Will gulped and took a long, deep breath. “Do you… maybe want to go on a date with me?”

Nico’s lips parted. His cheeks colored. Suddenly, his eyes were awake, wide, and completely focused on Will. He sat up, never taking his eyes off of Will. “You still want to try?” he asked in shock. “After yesterday… after this?”

Will smiled and shrugged. “After everything? Yeah. It’s kind of been driving me nuts that you haven’t asked. But… I trust you. And you’re my best friend, Neeks. We’re doing it right this time… right?” Will took his hand and looked at him, his heart pounding faster with each passing second that Nico stared without answering.

Then finally he breathed out, “Of course.”

OK, I let my attention slip and slightly rear-ended a car in front of me (oldish Mercedes), guy was surprisingly pretty cool about it. Damage is: (my car) my number plate fell off and very slight bumper bar damage; (his car) back bumper damage, back boot doesn't close properly. Even worse is the fact that the convenience key has a special texture on it, which is usually reserved to distinguish the power button from the volume rocker, and that didn't help my muscle memory to adapt.

BlackBerry's universal search is also fantastic, as it scans through every angle of the phone to look for what you're trying to find; and I also love the idea of its centralised hub, where BlackBerry manages to keep everything organised in one place: Email, text messages, phone calls, calendar events, and even tweets are all under one roof.

And not just that: You have features such as rich text formatting, snoozing of notifications, and even a nice "conversation view" to display multiple messages more clearly, all inside the BlackBerry Hub.

Starting from its design, the BlackBerry Motion is as generic a phone as you can possibly get.

There's nothing exciting about it: It looks like yet another black slab with some metal here and there, and even its carbon fiber-like back doesn't impress, as it fails the in-hands feel test beyond the plastic it's actually made of.

The one good thing is that, at least, the phone is rated IP67 for water and dust resistance, so it should be more durable than average, but that's a kind of design element you can only appreciate in specific situations, not day-to-day use.

The bezels are just outright enormous, too; alongside the boxy shape, they contribute to make the phone feel gigantic, especially on the chin, where the home button and capacitive keys reside.

The button itself hides a fingerprint reader, but it is, annoyingly, a little too wonky, especially compared to the stiffer keys on the sides.

The capacitive keys are terrible as well; more often than not a slightly dirty, wet, or sweaty thumb wouldn't be recognised, and even when it did the vibration is weak and unpleasant. The front's coating is also particularly bothersome, as for some reason cleaning the screen was harder than usual, in my experience.

The 5.5-inch, 1080p display itself is fine, with good viewing angles and okay colors, but it falls a little flat when compared to anything higher-end smartphones offer — when using it side by side with an iPhone 8 Plus (which has the same size, resolution, and display technology), it's just unfair how much better Apple's smartphone is.

The camera is also acceptable at best; perfectly lit conditions will produce good results, but in most situations the Motion's rear sensor struggles to get past anything a high-end smartphone camera from two years ago would've handled just fine, with low-light being the predictably sorest spot.

Photos aren't bad, but the camera is far from the Motion's strongest asset. The best feature it has is probably the built-in scanner, which ties in with its productivity-oriented software.

The front-facing selfie shooter, on the other hand, does its job well, and the camera also offers slow-motion videos, up to 4K resolution at 30fps (frames-per-second).

Performance is also nothing to cheer for — the Snapdragon 625 processor handles BlackBerry's software without lag or hiccups, and the phone never froze or rebooted in my testing, but the Motion never feels like it's running the otherwise stock Android 7.1.2 like a true champ either.

In short: There's nothing necessarily bad about the BlackBerry Motion, whose overall experience outside hardcore productivity is okay — but so many other phones do the vast majority of things better, and, even if they're more expensive, still offer more value for their money.
