Okay, TMNT Fandom.

I saw a post by a young fan saying that the Ninja ninja Turtles were now as old as their parents at forty. So I'd like to know who else is as old as or older than the ninja turtles franchise.

I'll start: in 1984 I was five years old. I saw the cartoon in 1988 and fell in love and I'm still there, in love. It's really deep. I don't think I can climb out.

My Top 5 Favorite TMNT 2012 Ships

5) Mikey x Renet

I feel we as a fandom has come to an unanimous agreement that all the canon romances/couples given to us in the 2012 series are bad/toxic/poorly written/inc3st/etc with THEM being the only exception (I'll talk about that ship soon), however I think Renetangelo is the other exception.

They’re certainly not perfect with their first problem being Mikey kinda “cheating” on Renet with Shinigami (they weren’t together or officially dating so it’s not cheating, but it still felt wrong that it was never acknowledged that Mikey was pretty much a skirt chaser, crushing on two girls at once), but I still really love their dynamic and relationship. Mikey and Renet are undoubtedly cute together, just two silly goofballs having a fun time and enjoying the other’s company with the occasional flirting and kiss on the cheek (which btw SO CUTE). Renetangelo is that couple that I feel works great both romantically and platonically. If you told me they’re best friends, I’d believe it, if you told me they’re a couple, I’d also believe it. That's how well they work off each other. I'm okay with them being a couple or just being friends.

Season 5 also practically confirms they’re together on two occasions with Mikey saying him and Renet are in a long distance relationship in the When Worlds Collide special, and Renet hinting during the Halloween arc that she and Mikey have some kind of future together.

Overall, I really like Renetangelo and I love seeing these two together. From Mikey's puppy love expressions when he sees her to their overall personalities clashing so well together. This ship is very underrated and needs more love.

4) Slash x Alopex

Yes, this is a ship that exist and I take FULL CREDIT FOR THE CREATION OF THIS COUPLE! I AM THE REASON THIS SHIP IS ALIVE AND SAILING! YOU ARE WELCOME!!

Slash x Alopex (or what I like to call them Slaopex) is my rarepair of the 2012 series and I’m so happy that I’m slowly getting more and more people one board with it. It started off as just a random silly idea of mine, like "What if Slash got a gf?" and then I thought "Well, who could I ship him with?" and then my brain went "What if Slash and Alopex got together? That would be funny". I laughed at the idea, but the more I thought of it, the more I started to like it. I began coming up with headcanons and a story of their relationship, and the more I did that, the more I fell in love with this concept and the potential of this couple. So much that it placed 4th in my top 5!

I fell so in love with them I even ended up writing a short fanfic of how I headcanon they would first meet and the beginning of their blooming romance (you can read it HERE). But in short, Slash runs into Alopex during a late night patrol and helps her beat up some crooks who were attacking her. The two get to talking, sharing a tender moment before parting ways, with Alopex now being the only thing on Slash's mind <3

I also reference this ship a few times in my fanfic Courting a Salamandrian. Consider it a continuation of that little oneshot.

3) Leo x Casey

While everyone else was shipping Jonatello, I was shipping Caseynardo! I was never a fan of Jonatello, I don't hate it, just couldn't get on board nor understand the hype around it, but then one day I stumbled across fanart of Leo x Casey and I thought "Huh... these two actually look cute together!" and quickly sunk into the rabbit hole. Looking up every little bit of fanart, fanfics and edits I could find.

Liking this ship this much for it to be ranked 3rd in my Top 5 favorite TMNT 2012 ships says a lot. This ship really grew on me very quickly, so much so that I wrote a fanfiction on them! I wrote a Caseynardo fanfic before writing a Renetangelo one (you can read it HERE), which is funny cause I've been shipping Renetangelo since the show was airing, and I didn't start liking Caseynardo till long after the show ended! That says a lot about how much these boy effected me! LOL

My whole HC for this ship is that they bonding a lot in season 3 at the farmhouse which led to a mutual romantic attraction. Eventually they secretly date without telling anyone but due to the circumstances and problems going on in Leo’s life, he was unable to keep the relationship going. They agree to just be friends, which Casey promising to wait for him. It’s basically the “right person, wrong time” trope. But I like to headcanon that by season 5, Leo and Casey finally get together officially and made their relationship known to everyone else. The only one not surprised was Raphael who knew about those two since day one, cause he was stuck being their third wheel/wingman XD

2) Karai x Shinigami

I will NEVER forgive Nickelodeon for be too cowardly to make this happen. They'd rather ship inc3st and force Shini to be straight than give us our goth kunoichi lesbians. For shame, Nickelodeon... For shame...

Not to mention that one of the writers of the show, Peter Di Cicco, shipped them! Calling them his "OTP" and referring to Shini as "Karai's girlfriend", and even pitching an alternate ending to the series where Splinter and Shredder make up but the only thing they fight over now is who gets to walk Karai down the aisle during her wedding to Shinigami XD

The moment I saw Shinigami, I instantly thought "Oh that's a lesbian and she and Karai are a thing". I really love their dynamic, their friendship and the potential they have in being a cute couple of childhood friends to lovers. You can see how much they care about each other. The fury in Shini's voice when she confronts Super Shredder, "I will destroy you, Monster! For everything you have done to Karai!". Shini is supportive of Karai and is always the one down to start chaos with you. Makes me wish we could've learned more about these two and their history. I like to think they've known each other since they were little, being childhood friends while training and growing up in The Foot Clan.

My personal headcanon is that Shinigami has had a crush on Karai since they were young, like preteens, and is so loyal to her and willing to help Karai not just because she is her best friend but also because she loves her. However, she is scared to tell Karai how she really feels because she's worried she won't reciprocate and it'll ruin their long time friendship. Luckily, Mikey is there for support!

1) Raphael x Mona Lisa

What have I not already said about RaMona? If you follow me then you know full well that these two are my life. I’ve written multiple fanfics based on them on AO3 (LINK HERE) and have done a few analysis posts about them as well here on Tumblr. They have consumed my life. I love them so much!

Overall, I believe they are the healthiest ship the series offered us, and the best one in canon. I know some complain that they were rushed and how they got together too quickly, but in truth I can understand why Raph and Mona got into a relationship as quickly as they did. They are both warriors with the mindset of "I might die tomorrow" so it makes sense they'd be open and honest about their feelings right from the start just in case something happens to either one of them in battle. You only live once, you know? And I like how open Raph is when it comes to his feelings for Mona. From the very start, the moment he realized he liked her, never once did he deny it. Even when his brothers and friends laughed or scolded him, Raph proudly admitted he likes her with no ounce of shame. Mikey even points out that Mona is "bigger, stronger and a better fighter" than Raph and him responding by saying "Exactly! What a woman..." The boy does not care that she will be the pants in their relationship. He loves that she's stronger than him, bigger than him, a better fighter than him. We even see how excited he gets when she suggests training with him someday. Not to mention how we also learn in the show that these two have written love letters to each other during the course of the season 4 space adventures. Their personailties clash so well together. Both being strong willed warriors who put their loved ones first. Both can be stubborn and jump to conclusions quickly. We even see that Mona can have a short temper much like Raph. Both are ready to kick some ass with anyone who talks shit (Raph defending Mona but then Mona defending herself *chef's kiss*)

It's not talked about often among the fandom/shippers, but the fact that Mona is as much in love with Raph as he is with her is what truly makes this ship great. While the other 2012 ships make it unclear (writing wise) if the love interest truly feels the exact same way towards her Turtle she's shipped with, but for Mona her feelings are obvious. She's the one who makes the first move during all of their kisses/nose nuzzles, she's the one to say "I love you" first" and do I have to remind y'all of the push up scene? XD

These two are obsessed with one another. You can tell and see just how in love they are with one another. Even with only appearing in about 4-5 episodes, they truly left a major impact on shipping in this fandom. I feel it has come to a unanimous agreement that this ship is the best (canon) couple this show gave us. I love them, I love their relationship, I love what these two have done for the show and this fandom. They were able to bring back a classic ship from the 87 series and add so much more to them! I hope we get to see more of this couple in future generations. They certainly aren't a perfect couple, they got their flaws too, but overall they are truly the best couple in the 2012 series. <333

I'd say it's been probably... almost two months since I became an active participant in the TMNT 2003 fandom? And while there have been some ups and downs, overall I have been enjoying myself.

The biggest adjustment is the size. Most of my previous fandoms have been relatively niche JRPGs and while TMNT 2003 isn't the most popular animated TMNT iteration, the fanbase is still much, much larger than what I'm used to. More people talking, more fanart and fanfic being posted, and definitely a lot more, ah, discourse. Not that discourse wasn't a thing in my smaller fandoms, but I stumble across it quite a bit when browsing tags, and there's also a lot more variety to it as well. It really is weird what kind of stuff people will get their underwear up in a bunch about.

As far as interacting with other fans goes, I try to keep a relatively open mind when discussing the show and characters. I know some people can be very trigger happy with their block buttons, but I try not to block people simply because they disagree with me/I disagree with them. If I were to block someone on the grounds of their opinion being different from mine, it would be because they were being aggressive of how right they are while I'm completely wrong to the point of literal harassment over whatever is being discussed. Which, you know, fortunately I haven't had to do something like that yet. Most people have been very kind to me thus far, even when there were disagreements.

I am pretty happy with how things are turning out, even though it was a bit rough in the beginning when I didn't know anyone and felt like an outsider. A lot of people have expressed thanks for the fact I've been posting the official model sheets and concept art from the show, and as long as people still want them, I'll keep uploading them until I've run out because hey, I can personally confirm that the turtles are fucking hard to draw, and even the lowest quality reference can do wonders. This is also the fandom that inspired me to dabble in video editing and gif making; still not the best at either of them, but much like art, it's a learning process and the most important thing is that I'm having fun. My brain hasn't been this entertained learning new techniques for making things in a while, even if it can be frustrating at times. (Those damn shells are the worst to draw, man.)

So.... Yeah. All I can really say at this point is thank you to everyone for making this fanbase experience enjoyable so far. I'll probably be around for a while yet!

Yoshi didn't move to the US immediately. His film career began in Japan and then he went to the US. He was already a famous celebrity by the time he moved.

Yoshi was in his early thirties (30-33 y/o) the day he proposed to Big Mama.

Yoshi's film career ended in the mid-90s (1994-1996) (i.e., he was abducted).

Yoshi and the Turtles' mutation occurred in approximately 2005.

Yoshi was in his early forties (40-43 y/o) the day he was mutated.

Yoshi was in the Battle Nexus for 10 years before escaping.

The show begins in 2018 in-universe.

The episode "The Evil League of Mutants" takes place precisely 13 years post-Yoshi and the Turtles' mutation.

The episode "Lair Games" takes place in 2019 in-universe.

The show's season 2 finale ("Battle Nexus: New York"-"Rise") takes place in 2019 in-universe.

The Rise movie's present-time takes place in 2020 in-universe.

This date hasn't been confirmed to be canonical by the prop designers/writers so it very well could mean nothing, but it might be worth taking into account that the clapboard of the film Big Mama and Yoshi met on, Crouching Shrimp Hidden Tiger Prawn, is dated 1984. So they may have been a couple since then, considering how they were both into each other immediately and aren't shy people. Is this is true (again, the 1984 date could be wrong) and we make the math as clean-cut as possible by declaring Yoshi proposed in precisely 1995, was trapped in the Battle Nexus for 10 years, and mutated in 2005, Big Mama and Yoshi were a couple for 11 years before the proposal. It hasn't been confirmed how old Yoshi was when his film career started and it hasn't been confirmed how long he was making Japanese films before he immigrated to the US.

Okay, so I was a little off with my math, which is pretty on brand for me. But yes! Here's a more precise timeline with significantly fewer guesstimates.

Probably won’t be up to midnight so I’m gonna be making this post early. After all, it’s the last day of the year so I’m gonna let myself be sentimental.

I’ve been in and out of a lot of fandoms throughout the years. My most consistent and longest running one being One Piece. I’ve been in there since my beginning on tumblr and slowly, over time, got to know a lot of really amazing people who I love dearly.

But oh boy has the TMNT fandom been so vastly different!

I’ve been into TMNT since childhood but only started actively engaging in the fandom side of things a little earlier this year. Out of every fandom I have been in, the people in this fandom have been so kind and approachable and it has been so mindblowingly easy to make absolutely wonderful new friends! I love all of you so much.

Here’s to a good 2024, may it treat us all kindly.

The first crack of lightning struck an outside tree and charred the thinner sections of it. April gazed out the window of the farmhouse and watched blackened leaves disintegrate into the night. She glanced over at Casey, who was asleep on the couch. Outbursts and accidental clawing have worn down the furniture quite noticeably. Screws and boards and stuffing could be seen wherever she looked.

One of those cartoons with an odd amount of fourth wall-breaking foreshadowing was playing on the tv. Mikey was seated on the floor, slit-pupil eyes trained on the illuminated pixels. He rocked back and forth slightly. He’s been quieter since…the incident. Perhaps self conscious of his lesser control over his hissing of the letter ‘s’. Or…something else, anything else, really. It wasn’t like he was going to open up anytime soon. April looked at the floorboards in front of his spot and took note of the scratches dug into the wood. The once-smooth floor tended to feel the consequences of the more exciting series’s.

The surveillance of everyone couldn’t be ignored, but exhaustion was beginning to creep up. April yawned and ran a hand through her hair. Looking at Casey again, she decided to let him sleep. She trudged to the kitchen with coffee on her mind. A torn blue bandana laid on the table, a clawed hand resting tamely on the cloth. “Hey, Leo,” April greeted the mutant, who nodded in response. She studied his slouched form. “Why don’t you get some rest?” she suggested.

“I, egh, I need to train more. I need to better control this.” His resting hand curled around the torn mask.

April frowned. “Cmon, you need sleep, too. You can’t heal mentally or physically if you don’t give yourself time to rest.” She studied her friend’s expression and faltered upon noticing the lasting resolve on his face. “…Will you at least let me make you some tea?”

Hesitantly, Leo nodded, and asked, “Do we have the lavender tea?” April walked to the cupboard and gave a thumbs up upon spotting the little labeled box. She pulled out a semi-translucent tea bag as well as a canister of instant coffee grounds. She placed down the metal canister but held onto the tagged bag. A hand found the container of evaporating melatonin pills and discreetly slipped one into the leafy mixture. She shook it slightly to hide it and placed the tea bag on the counter with the canister.

Upon placing the kettle on the heated stove, it didn’t take long for the metal device to whistle with steam. April turned off the burner and set two porcelain cups on the counter. She carefully poured boiling water into each and added the two mixes. While waiting for the tea to steep she stirred the coffee grounds around to speed up their assimilation with the water. After a few minutes the soggy bag was removed and thrown out. Leo watched as April placed the two cups in their respective spots. He softly gave a “thanks” with a small nod of his head and proceeded to sip the herbal liquid.

Thunder crashed overhead with a loud reverberating boom. Leo jolted with a startled gasp. Steaming tea spilled onto his hand. His yelp fused with a hiss and he aggressively shook his hand to get some of the hot liquid off. Scales became more visible across his body and his arm seemed to shift in form slightly, his pupils shifting to pinpricks as momentary pain and panic took hold. April shot up from her seat and grabbed a paper towel. She wetted it under the sink faucet and hurriedly placed it where the tea was burning Leo’s hand. The mutant looked up and they held a gaze for a few seconds. Leo relaxed a little and glanced away. He removed the damp paper towel and simply shed away the reddish and mildly burned area.

Quietly the two continued to drink their beverages. April glanced up from her cup occasionally to check for further agitation, or, alternatively, tiredness. Thankfully only the latter appeared to be the case. Leo seemed to be calming down and relaxing. She got an idea to get him to voluntarily let himself rest.

“How about…” she started, pausing to sip her cooling coffee, “…you do some meditation? Like Master Splinter did. A healthy, rested mind, er, makes a healthy ninja.”

Leo slowly blinked at her and she grimaced as she realized it probably wasn’t a good idea to mention the parental figure right now. He gently placed his cup on the table. “…He…would, most likely want us all to do…slower exercises,” he agreed, then quickly added, “in- in moderation, of course. We still need to train, be- be fit ninjas, and all-“

“Yeah, I understand,” April replied. She really wanted her friends to allow themselves a break. They all needed to recover. Leo had such a problem with just…chilling. She watched as he finished his drink.

“I’m gonna go upstairs. See you in the morning, April.”

“Mhm, good night.”

The human watched her mutant friend place the cup on the counter and make his way up the stairs. She sighed and closed her eyes, listening to the soft pattering of rain smacking the farmhouse’s roof.

Things will be okay.

Fast Forward sucks.

I know that's not original, but let me just dump this and run.

Sometimes, with TMNT shows, it's 7 seasons, with a "future" season that seems to be written by a fanfic writer. But even then, that would be disrespecting all the good writers.

Then the last season of that is straight shit, with a change of art style and demographic to keep the show running, but that in turn kicked out it's teen audience, which was more than 40% of the fandom at the time.

The 5 seasons we got for 2012 was perfect, but even then, the main story ended in season 4, with an extra season for fun side stories that help flesh out previous seasons. Again, the alternative future special for it came from a child's diaper. Frankly, it was very sexist, only including and having cameos for every male character and completely forgetting about April, Shinigami, Karai, and even IRMA.

HOW COULD YOU NOT INCLUDE OUR LORD AND SAVIOR IRMA?

Next, lemme talk about why the 5 seasons are the best amount and disprove another very hated series that is uhhhh live-action.

5 seasons is the perfect standard for TMNT shows, because you need to flesh out story and characters in the first season, add more plot to the second season, add in spice and some drama to the third season, and the fourth season is where the main story should end and leave everyone in a state of growth before continuing on to the fifth season, which fleshes out the story, like season one, except it answers more questions than it creates, since it's the final season.

A 6th season isn't needed unless the story begins to drag out, and a 7th season certainly isn't need if you're going to change art styles either right after it or during it.

Stick to an art style all the way through, or else it will be jarring for those who were watching and enjoying the previous seasons.

This all circles back to characters, plot, settings, and overall the best rating you can possibly get for a show.

This is why 2012 is the best TMNT show, hands down. It does have its flaws, but it's good enough to learn from its mistakes and create a nice environment for the characters. And while seasons 1-5 of 2003 are certainly better, the final two seasons diminished the reputation of the first 5. You can't judge a show by a certain few seasons and call it a day, or you won't get the full picture.

Now, on to TNM.

The Next Mutation does not help me prove my point, but that's because it's not a show. It's a marketing tool. The Next Mutation is simply there to run off the original fame of the '87 TMNT, have crossovers, and make money in the most sufficient way possible.

How do I know this, you may ask?

HAVE YOU SEEN VENUS'S DESIGN?

And the thing is that she is drastically different in terms of design. She is the main marketing tool for the show. But around 30% of TMNT fans were female, so they felt they needed to add another female character to be able to sell to these certain genders so that toy sales can go up, and the show can keep running.

Hence, the creation of Venus De Milo.

Now, don't get me wrong, she would've been a great addition to the franchise if she weren't so butchered and bland to the point of where she was never used in another show again, until Rise.

At least, almost, since they were supposed to have 2 secret siblings, one that was Big Mama's assistant, and the other was a battle Nexus champion (not including Leo.)

Then again, it's just speculation, I could only find proof for one claim by one of the writers, saying that Mama's assistant had more story to her, but I couldn't find any proof for the battle Nexus champion claim.

This stupid info dump is basically to say that Rise deserve 5 seasons, but not 7 seasons. Unless you have a show without much plot, like a slice-of-life story, then you shouldn't have more than 5 seasons, or else you'll most likely be dragging out the story so much that nobody wants to watch the show since it's so slow.

I mean, name one show that had more than 5 seasons and actually had a story.

Other than Adventure Time.

It's very hard to pull off, but not impossible.

But yeah. Season one was supposed to be filled with fun antics the characters could get into to introduce the world around them and the characters themselves. 2012 TMNT did that, and everyone loved it. People just needed to give it a chance and not judge a book by it's cover.

If you want an extra season of Rise, and we might not get it, I highly recommend looking for the Cass Apocalypse AU. It's very well made and very fun to read. (Bottom.)

And if you don't want a "future" season, be sure to look out for the fan project ROTTMNT: A New Age, which gives the fandom a great final season to hyperfixate on. (Also bottom.)

how did you first get into fandom? Fandom evolves as you age. I used to play-act scenes from my favorite movies around the tetherball pole in elementary school. I started a grassroots Weird Al fan club and drew my own TMNT comics. I spent high school painting my own t-shirts of bands I liked and drawing book covers for horror stories I liked. When the internet began to emerge, college me typed my media into a search engine for the first time. The sheer delight when there were other people out in the world who shared those fixations! I got onto message boards in the '90s which became websites which became social media platforms. But it wasn't until the pandemic and discovering Shameless that I started engaging on Tumblr and A03.

how long have you been engaging with fandom spaces? I've been active in this fandom since late 2020, so just over two years.

how often do you read fanfics? almost every day.

share a personal headcanon that you feel very strongly about: I feel that Mickey and Sandy didn't literally have sex-sex. They they just messed around, teasing each other. That whole idea is gross.

and finally, what does fandom mean to you? Fandom means pouring your creative energy into a particular media and also sharing that love with others who get you. Squealing over the tiny freckle on a character's stomach. Watching gifs of that one moment that gives you goosebumps and knowing that it gave other people goosebumps, too. And the amazing friendships!

I actually have a lot. Including a Zombie AU, Superhero Hero/Villain AU, Vampire AU, and many more different AUs for Nimona, a one-shot for Big Hero 6, and some works I've been planning on finishing for TMNT.

40. Share some backstory for one of your characters.

I'm gonna take this as an OC line.

So, technically I have two characters, one that I have worked on for years, and the other one...

I'm so sorry Ace.

But yeah, their name is Tani.

Tani has been a character that has grown with me since 2014. She started as an OC for Big Hero 6, but slowly became someone for many different fandoms, and if I could, he could probably be a character in his own right.

Because Tani is so used in different Fandoms (my friend calls in the Taniverse) their backstory changes a lot, but it more often than not has a structure that is similar:

Tani is a child of an affair, but for reasons of keeping face and social image, her parents decide not to divorce or to give her up. However, they are not attentive to Tani and often neglect her, leaving her malnourished, or with dirtied clothes which contrast her siblings who do not necessarily care for her though she is the youngest. But when her 'father learns of how intelligent she is, he allows her to raise in her education. Before she could go further though, at the age of 5, she was taken away from them by a social worker to an orphanage in New York, who would end up adopting her. However, even her she was not emotionally stimulated, though she was given more then she could have ever hoped for.

Her aunt, as she begins to call her, is focused on education and financial success in life, so her education continued here as she was dubbed a prodigy in her schools. They focused on her face and image in the world, learning and schooling never stopped, not even at home, and people only ever praised her for what they wanted of her.

And She didn't really like that.

(Tani figures out he's Bi and Genderfluid at 13, and later when she's around 17 figures out that they're greysexual, if I go into that now though I might as well right her story.)

I have a hard time actually answering that, because for as long as I have been writing stories, I have been writing about people getting hurt. Yeah, sad... I know. But conflict has to come from somewhere, right? It has at least been since the mid-1980s, though. I remember watching Star Trek at my aunt's house and it was the episode "Specter Of The Gun", where Chekov got "killed". And I, nine years old or so, of course had a crush on Chekov, so I very much wanted to write my own story where he gets hurt, but then managed to rescue himself... so I borrowed my aunt's typewriter and wrote it!

So, I suppose the answer is... four decades, give or take?

What was the first fandom you wrote whump for?

Ah, see, I am not going to go with Star Trek on this, even though that was the first one I wrote. This question is about fandom, and I wasn't in any fandoms way back then (no internet, of course, and I was too young for zines and the like), so I am going to go ahead and say it was TMNT, back in my Stealthy Stories days in the late 1990s. The fic is called Displaced, and I wrote it down in a notebook for my dad several years before posting it online. I am actually in the process of re-editing it and putting it up on AO3. As for the whump factor, poor Donnie doesn't have the best few days in it...

Okay, since I got this ask on a TMNT blog, I'll skip scenes from my Hobbit stuff. But if you are interested in them, Collapse has both a bit of physical and a lot of emotional, and The Standing Stone Of The Sigin Tarag, which is unfortunately on permanent hiatus, does a number on Fili both physically and emotionally, as well.... plus Fili has a really, really bad night in And The Water Woke Him.

Where was I? Oh, TMNT. I have a lot, really, but Something Wicked is just loaded with whump, and the chapter I am currently editing is a biggie in that regard... but it is honestly hard for me to pick out one passage. So, in the interest of just getting it done, I'll choose an early one, from chapter four...

Spoiler warning, if you please...

It moved swiftly, grabbing Mike by the side of the neck. This time it didn't squeeze, it lifted him, then brought him down hard, slamming his forehead into the corner of the concrete ledge. Mike saw a flash of light, felt the skin on his brow split; then the thing drew the Turtle's face close to its own, as if scrutinizing its work. It snarled, then lifted him and struck his brow against the concrete once more. Michelangelo's thoughts grew hazy, and the creature pushed him back against the wall on the other side of the tunnel. Mike somehow managed to stay upright on his unsteady legs, leaning back against the curved concrete as his knees weakened below him. Staring at the creature past the blood that was now seeping into his eyes, he straightened up as much as he was able, defiantly locking gazes with the monster, waiting for it to come at him one last time… waiting for it to grab him, to choke him, to tear his flesh… waiting for it to do something… anything… Far away, he heard his brothers hollering again. The creature glanced in their direction, then it slowly turned and lumbered off down the opposite way. Mike watched the thing until it vanished into the shadows, then he took a step towards his brothers' voices; but as soon as his shell left the support of the wall, he stumbled and fell forward, landing face-down in the water. He tried to lift his head, tried to push himself up with his weakened arms so he could raise his face above the surface, but he had no strength left in him, and his lungs were beginning to burn… …Hold your breath… He closed his eyes, trying despite the pain and panic to find some quiet place in his mind, trying to fight back the need for air… …Hold your breath… His brothers were somewhere nearby, their voices were growing closer… they would be there soon… if he could just keep himself from breathing until they got there… until they found him… …Hold your damn breath…

promise y’all i’m still gonna wrap up all my fic wips but i’m more or less taking some time away from Them and the fanbase for the time being (though i’ll still be around!)

h and l’s collective silence on what’s been going on despite all they’ve put out in regards to their morals and what they supposedly stand for is really just not sitting well with me, and that’s my big reason as of late. otherwise i’ve honestly never been as entertained by solo tour content as i was with the band and i’ve unfortunately been a bit bored for awhile now…. not to additionally mention all the growing issues i’ve had with this fandom collectively, besides most fandoms based around irl people in general, making me feel more irritated and stressed than plaintively uninterested

i’ll still be posting That kind of stuff when i feel like it and intend to at least finish my ongoing fics (with the harry or louis art stuff who knows, i might get some motivation back? if i don’t i might just do a huge wip dump here at some point), but otherwise i’m going to be mixing things up quite a bit here and tbh i’m really excited about it!

the last few months i’ve been in a nostalgia spiral and have really gotten back into animated shows and fantasy media + since seeing mutant mayhem in august with my buddy i’ve also been in a sort of tmnt tailspin as well? though i guess getting back into 1d in 2020 was the beginning of my nostalgia renaissance lmao

and in case you weren’t aware, art-based media and sci-fi/fantasy has always been more my Thing, despite how long and how involved i’ve been with 1d collectively, and some other music groups in the past. i guess i’m just getting back to my roots and really centering on what makes me inspired and what drives me to create, versus which fanbase i can sink the most energy and time into, even when i don’t feel particularly motivated or inspired.

ofc i could always come back full swing again, and as i said i don’t plan to cut cold turkey or anything either! i just need to do things differently than i have been for my own happiness and creative drive.

lastly, to anyone else feeling similarly to me, please know that i got your back and hope to still see you all around here and/or on twitter because i’m definitely interested in what other things you all might be into! and thank you to anyone who’s been supportive of me and my work the past few years! i’m eternally grateful for the kindness and motivation you’ve given me and truly hope whenever i get around to wrapping up my fics and/or art pieces, that the wait was even a little worth it!

Introducing!!! My TMNT fan iteration

What is TMNT PIA?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Punks in action (Or TMNT PIA, sometimes also just referred to as ‘Punks’) is a fan iteration me and my best friend have been working on together since late August 2023.

The story itself still needs a lot of work, but so far we have gotten down a lot of the character writing and most important plot lines written down.

Expect to see official character designs of the turtles + Splinter in the near future, and soon after that even more characters, April O’Neil, Casey Jones etc.

Punks aims to tell a completely new story of the humanoid colour-coded reptiles that go ninja go ninja go we all know and love, introducing completely new plot points and characters, while also paying homage to canon iterations, via characters we all know and love and even a few canon events we all know we’ve seen somewhere before.

Something I feel is necessary to point out, Punks will be given a Mature rating. The story is planned to be much different from your typical TMNT series, especially the animated ones, as the story will include a lot of graphic violence, injury detail, death and even the occasional sexual joke (No actual sex scenes or nudity though)

One more thing, why is it called ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Punks in Action’?

Here’s some history for you, the TMNT fandom has always been very popular with the punk community since the release of the first TMNT Mirage comics in 1984. The community itself seemingly being what made the original story of the Mirage Comics so popular that eventually the 1987 tv series was produced and eventually the franchise began to become more and more popular that it’s initial connection the punk subculture has slowly faded to the background. This is especially noticeable from how the series has since become more focused on a younger audience. Nowadays if one to imagine TMNT being connected the punk community they may only think of the Mirage comics, and those with more knowledge of the community may connect it to the 1990’s live action movies or The Last Ronin and IDW comics. Other than that the tv shows, movies and other forms of TMNT media in more recent years do not show any signs of the franchise’s connection to the subculture, with newer fans likely being completely unaware that it was the Punk scene that made the franchise popular in the first place.

Punk aims to reignite the TMNT’s lost connection to the punk community, reintroducing the Ninja Turtles themselves as punks. Leather jackets, fishnets, piercings, rock and roll hand signs, graffiti art, air guitars, mosh pits, anarchy etc.

Hopefully when we have fully written as much of the plot as necessary we will begin posting the story on AO3, under the title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Punks In Action, however I’m a slow writer so this may take a while
