I love mythology so much and it’s taking everything in me to not write a full fledge fic about a Cupid and Psyche au omfg
justttttt Cupid Bakugou who is just so, so fucking beautiful. he’s always been recorded by other mortals for being akin to sunlight himself—all golden hues and sharp angles and high cheekbones and massive wings. wings that span as wide as an entire village, that sparkle when the light hits them, loud when they beat to send him soaring into the skies above. but his mouth? his attitude?
everyone always wonders why he was never the god of war, instead. but he’s damn good at his job, with his arrows propped up on his back, swift with discharging them into another stupid mortal who’s fallen for the local towns idiot. but hey, they’re in love, and it’s his job to enforce that love go over well.
and then he sees you—the most beautiful mortal, that you’re even compared to the gods, to his mother. he wants you so bad, if not to treasure and keep you against his side as he travels over the oceans cold waters, than to keep you safe from the vile men who want you as their partner and the disgusting women who envy you for having it all.
omg and the part where he takes you to stay in his palace and asks you not to ever look at his face???? it’s killing him, to wear that mask to your nightly dinners, to be able to look at the soft curve of your mouth when you frown and ask him to reveal himself. to be able to look at how you stare back at him, eyes pretty and furious, frustrated and mad, wanting to go back on the conditions you agreed upon because having to sit across from him without seeing him is absolute torture. I am. vibrating.
im going to answer this in terms of the novels mostly
the one that came to mind first was kaiki. i feel like his perspective is so refreshing (esp compared to koyomi) and he’s so funny actually. i think it’s also a good way to show the viewer/reader what’s going on in his head (to an extent)
kanbaru’s is also super interesting but mayb im biased? similarly, its such an insight to who she is as a person compared to the persona she puts up
finally, nadeko. im definitely biased. from what i remember she is still more deceptive and it’s harder to really get a look into her mind but the way her perspective is written is so fun and interesting. going from bake to her small part in nise, which is all in koyomi’s perspective, to otori which is in her’s is actually such a huge shift that i think is more apparent in the novels. even before all the crazy shit goes down you get the sense that she’s a more interesting person than she lets on
^me writing a ml/dc fic during 2020’s lockdown while watching the George Floyd race riots in Portland through my friend’s camera lense as she gets bruised ribs from cops illegally aiming rubber bullets at journalists and also experiencing a very low depression episode due to The Everything so using writing to force the emotions out of me in a non-physically-violent manner by brutally murdering Marinette’s whole family and half her friends in front of her during an outdoor fashion show mass shooting so that Bruce Wayne could save her life and trauma bond adopt this new orphan.
Witcher fans have some of the weirdest takes on literature I’ve ever seen, almost always to prove someone else wrong. But what gets me is how extraordinarily wrong these “corrections” are lol.
i want to post some of my ask prompt fics to ao3 but they don’t have titles and i don’t want to give them titles but maybe. i can put them in one ongoing fic that collects them?? do people do that??
I know we’ve all talked this point to death but it’s wild to me that the plan is 7 books. Like, a 7 book series is a LOT for plot heavy novel series with just one linear path instead of a massive undertaking for an if. I expect that from a dense fantasy or sci fi series. Something that has a lot of plot to develop and explore. But a romance??
Having plot as a means to an end for romance tropes is fine. I don’t think anyone goes into a romance series for plot, they go for character and dynamics and tropes. But then how do u justify 7 books…
When Dan Mora released his cover variants for the new Robin series with Tim Drake I vowed to myself that I would get those comic variants if it was the last thing I would do.
And y’all I’m making well on that vow cause I nabbed the first one today and I can’t describe the joY I FEEL RN LET’S GO BABY-
