Relistening to ‘You Didn’t Know’ and I realized that Charlie says “I was told not to trust in angels.” And looks at Vaggie. VAGGIE told her not to trust in angels.
Why would Vaggie say anything unprompted like that, before her grand reveal, if it wouldn’t really hold any weight?
Unless she KNEW because these were her friends at one point. People she fought beside of, talked with inside of Heavens gates, trusted to be there for her no matter what. And what did they do? They left her to die.
She knew not to trust in angels because she did and it cost her everything.

THE CHARACTER SYMBOLISM BETWEEN THE GRUMPUSES AND THEIR BOSS SNAX
Part 1
Spoilers for the entire game, including the DLC! This is also just my interpretation, there are plenty of possibilities!
Mama Mewon, Daddy Cakelegs, Mothza Supreme, and Megamaki. These are the main boss snax of Bugsnax. Cheddarboardle is one of the DLC bosses, but is still somewhat iconic as well!
These bosses have always been very interesting to me both biologically and gameplay-wise, but I recently noticed something.
These boss snax are here to show you things about the Grumpuses emotionally.
Let’s start with Mama Mewon. She attacks you when you catch her baby Mewons, who seem to leap into any snak-catching thing they can. Chandlo asks you to take this snak down to make him stronger so he can protect Snorpy.
Mama Mewon and Baby Mewon is about how Chandlo perceives himself and Snorpy.
Chandlo believes he has to become stronger (like Mama Mewon) to protect Snorpy, who he perceives as being helpless (Baby Mewon) and constantly throwing himself into danger. (Like how the Baby Mewons throw themselves into the Snak Trap.)
Now for Daddy Cakelegs.
Similarly to Mama Mewon, this is about how Snorpy perceives himself and Chandlo. One thing I’d like to point out about Daddy Cakelegs is that he hides out in the snow for as long as he can (or at least until he’s forced out). This is similar to Tropicabug, whose snack scope entry reads the following:
“Stays hidden forever once scared. Or at least until an aggressive Snak attacks.”
You know which Grumpus comments on this? Snorpy, with the following:
“Wait a minute...that's MY strategy!”
What a coincidence that Snorpy’s strategy is EXACTLY what Daddy Cakelegs does, with the aggressive bugsnak attacking it being of course the player. (Who is not a bugsnak but you get what I mean)
Similarly to the baby Mewons, the baby Cakelegs also play a role here!
The baby Cakelegs lead the player to the daddy Cakelegs unintentionally, similarly to how Snorpy feels that if Chandlo knows about what he’s facing, Chandlo would accidentally lead his enemies to him.
TLDR; Mama Mewon and baby Mewon are a representation of how Chandlo feels like he has to protect Snorpy from danger, danger that he feels like Snorpy is constantly getting himself into.
Daddy Cakelegs and baby Cakelegs are a representation of Snorpy’s belief that people are after him and that Chandlo will accidentally lead his enemies (the player for daddy cakelegs, the grumpinati for Snorpy) straight to them, endangering both Snorpy and himself.
That’s just my interpretation, though! I’m sure there are a bunch of other things this could be.
I will be back to add onto this but if you think of anything to add please do!!

was making a page for the SBR-001 on the wiki, and as i was looking at it, i realized that...it doesn't actually have a saber.
Tumblr media
sabers are swords with curved blades. this blade is straight. it looks more like a gladius (right) sword than a saber (left).

basically, they're fucking Liars and Scoundrels

I get that Merrill's relationship with Varric and Isabela is funnier/more wholesome (although with Isabela it can potentially walk a thin line as a brown woman, regulating her to a caretaker role, or Merrill being the pale and pure one) but fandom really did not appreciate that the person most respectful to the Dalish and her beliefs was the Chantry cleric. Like they just blew right past it.

"The final ritual of the celebrations invokes Khnum to transfer his creative powers to women, in whom the mythic activity of the potter's wheel will ensure the perpetual conception of the human race. The following spell is found on column 12 at Esna: Utterance for setting up the potter's wheel in the bellies of all women: Words spoken: 'O divine potter, who creates the egg upon your wheel: may you set up the potter's wheel within the uterus, providing the womb with your (own) image.' It is Khnum himself who actively takes a part in this fashioning within the womb. While his role can be expressed as that of a sexual consort, the fertility of women is also described as the result of his celestial activity at the potter's wheel: 'May you model on the wheel in heaven, making potter's work on earth, so that children are brought to life within the wombs of their mothers by the action of your arms.'"
- Creation on the Potter's Wheel at the Eastern Horizon of Heaven, Peter F. Dorman

Had a fun conversation with my mother which I think really demonstrated the aspects of memory. We were talking about how my little brother used to be terrified of anyone in a white coat. I knew it had something to do with doctors, but I figured it was from injections or something. Mummy said it was from having stitches on his lip under no anesthesia (which - uh wtf). "You probably don't remember but he fell and split his lip". I remember. Because he didn't fall. I pushed him. And it wasn't a split lip, he landed on a shard of glass and cut a cheese-slice out of his lower lip. And like, I thought it was about an injection because that's what he told me when we were kids because he himself didn't remember the lip incident, just the fear around it. I remember not the stitches and hospital part of the incident but the pushing and falling and guilt. My mother remembers the horror of watching her baby going through unmedicated stitches and didn't remember how it came about.

the poll I just reblogged, about how much romance arospecs prefer in fiction, got me thinking because I actually misread it and thought it was only asking about fanfiction and not fiction in general. I was thinking about how strange it was that, though I don't read a lot of fanfic, I tend to read romance-focused ones.......... even though I very much dislike other media having a lot of romance. which led me to realize that the difference with fanfiction is the level of control I have to interact with it on my own terms. no other kind of media gives me the option to sort and filter as thoroughly as ao3, so if there's a certain trope that I really don't like, or I don't want to see anything rated explicit, I don't have to (as long as people have tagged things well). so on the occasion that I actively want to read romance, I will seek out the kind of stories that I vibe with in fanfic, and avoid it in other places.

I go through phases where I like to watch news broadcasts. it used to happen a lot more but not so much these days. Aaaanyway, in my first roommate situation on my last night there, we planned to just watch TV, eat, and just fuck around as a goodbye. So I was like, "Oh, I've got a video!"
And I pull up this newscast about this guy who got interviewed about a murder of an elderly man in the neighborhood and then it is revealed that he was actually the one who did it. So I'm sitting there, just watching, and I hear one of my roommates behind me say, "What is this...?" I paused it and looked at them and was like, "Y'all don't watch newscasts and stuff...?"
We all laughed our asses off about it but it was such a culture shock to me. Culture, in this context, being what I do in my own private time not translating to social interactions.

More random late night BG3 thoughts:
I'm not really "into" the Gale fandom as it is or anything, so I don't know if any other fellow weirdos have mused about this, but Gale's relationship with Mystra is interesting when you think about Mystra's own history.
See, I'm thinking that the Mystra he had a fling with wasn't the OG goddess Mystra, but "The-Wizard-Known-As-Midnight-Who-Became-Mystra".
This doesn't excuse the whole grooming thing, just to be clear, but it definitely adds an interesting dimension to it. Like, a random mortal, now finding themselves taking over the position of the goddess they previously worshiped, seeing a guy and getting maybe a little overly attached in the wrong way... kinda makes sense. People who find themselves suddenly in a position with a fucking lot of power, I feel like, tend to do really dumb and/or not-great things. And if I'm remembering lore trivia right, Midnight-Mystra was... not exactly good at the impartial-goddess thing. She was mortal originally, and hadn't really been a goddess for all that long at all. Hell, when she got with Gale, she would've JUST gotten resurrected after getting killed by Cyric. Homegirl probably wasn't in her right mind, being freshly resurrected after being mcfuckin murdered, and shouldn't have been in a position of power over a young, impressionable wizard.
What makes this interesting is there's suggestion in some shit I've read that OG Mystra groomed Midnight. So, in essence, Midnight was just perpetuating the cycle with Gale.
Given the ongoing theme of how one deals with "the cycle of abuse" and whatnot in the general character stories in BG3, I just thought that was interesting, and gave an interesting bit of depth to Gale's own issues. While it doesn't make the situation any better, it does add an interesting bit of depth when you think about "Mystra" not being this powerful goddess that's been around forever and ever and "is the Weave" like Gale waxes on about, but is in fact just some lady who took up the mantle in order to make sure shit didn't go haywire after the original Mystra died fighting Helm.
It certainly adds an amusing layer to Gale's ascension to godhood, if players choose that route.
