F1 fics are the main reason I got into this fandom and I figured I should share some (or so so many) fics that I like. While I do primarily follow Lando/Oscar and Charles/Carlos, I do read fics from other ships especially if they're from an author I like or the concept is interesting.

I have way too many fics (100+ though not all are completed) bookmarked so I'll just share my absolute favorites on this post and link posts of individual ships on their own posts. Also, I will continually keep updating this post and the other ones as fics complete and I read more.

the trials of 2022 - 33k - Charles Leclerc/Carlos Sainz Jr - ❤️ ⭐️ 🔥

A partial summary of the 2022 season, as told by Charles or Carlos, following each race.

This would be my all-time favorite F1 fic if I had to choose, only rivaled by its currently unfinished sequel and the second fic here. Charles's and Carlos's relationship in this fic is so organic and realistic and the chemistry is incredibly tangible. The angst, tension, the emotion in this fic is delectable, beautiful writing by @/f1-stuff. Even if you aren't into this ship, I implore you to try this fic out.

the end of the strain - 19k - Lewis Hamilton/Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton/Sebastian Vettel - ❤️

They didn't end up together in the end, which he had already prepared for in his heart.   Lewis, in seven parts.

For the first time ever reading any fic of any fandom, I had to lie on the floor for a couple minutes to process the emotional damage this fic gave me. The characterizations of all the people are on point and the relationships are heartbreaking and devastating in all the right ways. If you want to cry or lie on the floor and contemplate love like I did, this is the fic for you.

Negative Splits - 10k - Lando Norris/Oscar Piastri - ❤️ ⭐️

So officially, Oscar Piastri, pretty good steepler and pretty bad pacer, was now a professional runner. They wanted him to steeple, mostly, though he’d be doing cross country in the fall, and Lando had pinky promised him, mid-distance guy to mid-distance guy, that if he wanted to get into the 3k flat indoor then he would get him in. Oscar didn’t really want to ask how he planned on doing that. Felt safer not to ask.

@/ocontraire is the queen of Sports AU's for the F1 boys (go check out her other fics too! They're also incredible). As an athlete myself, the mentalities of both Lando and Oscar are relatable to me, though I'm also fascinated by the differences in various sports. This fic is certainly on the more lighthearted side (emotionally at least) and I thoroughly enjoy Lando and Oscar's friendship/relationship and its development.

induction, consolidation, maintenance - 6k - Pierre Gasly/Charles Leclerc - ❤️ ❌

In which Charles is sick, Pierre is desperate, and he wishes he didn't have to do what he's doing to pay for Charles to have a chance.

Piarles is certainly not a ship that I read often, but this fic caught my eye and I'm certainly glad that I read it. Pierre's and Charles's relationship is quite cute, though I mainly love Pierre's desperation to save Charles no matter what. He is willing to do anything, the world could burn for all he cares, to make sure Charles is healthy again and it got me heavily in the feels.

glitch - 26k - Max Verstappen/Charles Leclerc - ❤️ ⭐️

Max hums. “Well, at least that means I won’t bump into Charles Leclerc again.” “Bummer, really,” Daniel says, moving back to his own seat and drinking the little bit of coffee that was still in the cup. “Could’ve been the start of a great love story.” Lando snorts. “Kids, it all started when I told your father, who had won two World Driver Championships at that point, that he sucked at driving.” Max sticks his middle finger up at them, and pulls his noise canceling headphones back over his ears. Only two hours left to go, he thinks, wistfully, and goes back to work.

I mainly read @/nyoomfruits's fics because of Landoscar, though this Lestappen fic took me completely by surprise. I adore the romcom vibes of this whole fic and Daniel and Lando are so hilarious and chaotic. Max's personality fits so well in this fic as an unbothered IT guy, but completely loses his composure when he meets Charles, his favorite F1 driver.

Oh yes, even when the main Checo pairing right now is Max, he has been paired with a few drivers:

With Lewis Hamilton (Chewis):

This has the seniority right now, they have been cozy since 2012, and even with their ups and downs, still mantain a friendly relationship which give us delusional fans hope.

With Fernando Alonso (ChecoNano or Perlonso):

I personally don't ship them, feel too brotherly for me, but they have been close since the time Checo entered F1, both hispanics, Checo was lighthearted than most of the hispanics drivers back then, so Alonso clicked very well with him. And Alonso has this very pansexual vibre with all the drivers, honestly, he's just sex on legs. With Checo, people think they would be good together, but I think Alonso is spoken for (Lanceeee).

With Nico Hulkenberg (Hulkenrez):

Sorry to put more images here, but they have history. They were together in the GP2 Series, then teammates in Force India. Hulkenberg speaks fondly of Checo, but honestly, he is a little shit. I love him, but it's true. I feel he's the one pulling pigtails on the people he likes, and in this case, with Checo, was pranking him, making jokes boderline racists (but he didn't mean them like that, he was just being Nico) and just flirting with him. They are still friendly, but now with KMag, they have lost their mojo. If Checo goes to Audi, maybe they would relink the romance.

With Esteban Ocon (no pairing name as far as I know):

Hate sex, anyone? Yes, that's why most of the fans started pairing them. I can say they sometimes had nice interactions, when they weren't trying to destroy each other, but I personally don't feel the vibe most of the people pairing them feel. Too much drama.

With Charles Leclerc (Checlerc):

This one baffles me, to be honest. When they interact, they say he's thirdwheeling Max and Charles, but yep, people ship them, and I guess I can see the appeal, Charles seems like a nice guy, they have chemistry, but I'm not sure why they pair them (Charlos makes more sense).

With Carlos Sainz Jr. (Cherlos):

Well, I can't see it, and now even less with their divorce, and I don't know if they ship them because they are hispanics, or because they look cute together. Carlos seems too hotheaded for Checo, and since Checo's teammate is Max, that's saying something.

With Lance Stroll (no idea of the ship name):

When they were teammates, they had this incredible chemistry, and were really, REALLY close, that's why Lance is still one of Checo's friends in the grid. But to me, they're more like brothers, nothing romantic as Lance focus all his romantic energy on Alonso. But I can see why people ship them.

He's also paired with Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly and even Oscar Piastri, but those are rare (like one or two fic rare), I think these guys are the most popular pairings for Checo (also it tickes me off when they ship him with Lando, come on! LANDO!).

Also, small announcement from my side: I'm working on a new fic! First chapter is already out, though from here on, I will not continue posting more until the story is fully finished - so this one won't go down the drain like the other one, lmao.

It's called Shadow Ops, like the TV series from 2013 (big thanks to my bestie @ill-procastinato for giving me this name idea, you're the best!) and it's an alternative universe where a few Formula 1 drivers become part of the FBI! This fic will include Hulknussen, Chestappen, Pierresteban, Landoscar, Zhouttas, Webbonso, Charlos, Brocedes and platonic Sargebon and is rated E for spicy things down the line and majorly described injuries as well as descriptions of dead people and swearing.

Included are: Nico Hülkenberg (main), Kevin Magnussen (main), Sergio Pérez, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Alexander Albon, Logan Sargeant, Zhou Guan Yu, Valtteri Bottas, Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Carlos Sainz Jr., Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Jenson Button. George Russel is mentioned here or there, but I won't dive too deep into his role - you'll see why.

There's action, there's love, there will be death and I will make it heartbreaking at certain points. My notes are filled to the brim with stuff I want to include.

As soon as he arrived at work and clocked in, he got greeted by one of the many familiar faces of his team and smiled happily. "Good morning, Checo!", the German greeted his colleague, the team's toxicologist, who looked up from the documents he carried to his lab in slight surprise at first but quickly smiled gently. "Buenos días, Nico. Had a good weekend?", the man inquired, waiting for the Special Agent to catch up with him who breathed out a small chuckle. "Relatively, yes. Had a talk with my mom over the phone on Saturday, first one in ages, it feels like. She really misses me. Currently planning my vacation to Emmerich already. What about you?", Nico explained a bit, and Checo nodded along before sighing. "Mmh, could've been better. My sister currently tries to execute a plan to get herself and our parents out of Mexico and into the States. Apparently, the cartel got wind of my occupation and now they're pressuring my parents to get me to come back so they can bleed me dry, basically. It's... a lot to take in.", the Mexican vented a bit, earning himself a sympathetic pat on the shoulder from Nico. "Sounds like a lot of work... I'm positive you can get through this, though. You're Sergio Pérez after all, you can do anything.", he uplifted his colleague who laughed and nodded as he slowed down - he had reached his lab.

"I just need to remember to never give up. That's all.", the smaller man confirmed, having Nico nod at that before they parted ways for the time being, the German now on his way to his own office. He greeted Pierre with a hearty "good morning" as well as the Frenchman rushed past him, the forensic pathologist only shouting a hurried "Morning!" in return. He seemed quite busy, so Nico decided not to interfere.

While on his way to his office, Nico suddenly got dragged into another room - his boss Jenson's office. Nico's partner in crime Kevin was there already as well, the two greeting each other shortly as the German blond closed the door behind himself hastily as he stumbled inside from Jenson dragging him so harshly. "What a way to say good morning at fucking 8 AM, Jenson... What's up? New job?", he asked, and the British man nodded with a serious look on his face. "Brand new job indeed. I already told Kevin all the details, he'll drive you over to the crime scene." - that was all Nico got from his boss, understanding that the Dane next to him would explain everything in detail during their ride to the scene.

As Nico learned later on from Kevin, their victim of the day was a young man, estimated to be somewhere in his mid-twenties and from Great Britain.

I remembered the first time I interested in F1 was because that video of the handsome Ferrari mechanic over a year ago (iirc I saw this before the Canadian GP 23). Tried to find out more about him, and apparently he is Charles' mechanic. And that's why I started to support Ferrari (because of the handsome mechanic and driver, yes I know that stupid.)

At first, I supported both Ferrari's drivers equally. But weirdly enough, later I'm more interested in Carlos than Charles. During the Austrian GP 23, I remembered there was a comment from Charles about Carlos that made me sad (because you know, I'm also a Charlos fan), and that was the first time I found out about Lecfosi and their hatred towards Carlos.

Then Monza 23 happened. I didn't watch the last part of the race because I was so scared that Carlos gonna lose the podium place. I was really mad that he fought Carlos that hard when he even didn't put much effort against Checo just because he wanted to save his tyres so he can attack Carlos later, and by doing that getting the podium place in Monza.

I'm so glad Singapore happened. I remembered everyone praise Carlos for his brilliant strategy, but you know what? Turns out Fred and Charles down playing that win and said thanks to Charles that he won in Singapore. I mean, yes, thank you for your help in the first part of the race, but after the safety car when you dropped to fifth place (lap 20 iirc), it was all on Carlos. Especially when the Mercedes came in with fresh medium.

This year supposed to be my first full year following F1. I remembered I hoped Carlos would get that contract extension. But then Lewis happened. And now all of these. Can believe he talked like that about Carlos' home race when just a few weeks ago all he wants is just to win in Monaco.

All I can say is that I'm glad Carlos will leave that toxic team. I hope he can get a competitive car next season, but even if it didn't happen, I just hope he can get a team that will love him and appreciate him for all his talent and effort.

Ps. I know it's hard for Carlos to get a WDC. But I really hope Lando can get it first before Charles.

Okay but here's how I see each of these play out:

Carlos, fearing his fate is about to be sealed by the Gods, who knows his parental figure is about to sell him to the highest bidder, decides to take the reigns on his own fate and finds a way to the depths of the paddock where he can hide away in the Williams garage until he figures out what's next. How was he to know the team principle is just as suave as he is nerdy? How was he to resist that combination, resist someone who will finally challenge his intellect? And so he becomes James' right hand, helps him rebuild the team to something that resembles the glory days of the '80s, putting the fear of the Gods into whoever doubted Carlos' skill and talent

Charles, natural born soldier for The Cause, who will do what needs to be done always, who falls in love for his childhood best friend -a boy marked with trepidation but who will follow Charles to the ends of the earth, will be by his side and be the voice of reason and compassion with the heart of a poet: he is half of my soul, as the poets says.

Lewis, who lets Sebastian think that he is saving Lewis from a cruel husband (Nico? Toto? Pick your poison) as they run away together to Maranello, only for Lewis' husband to declare war upon Ferrari for stealing him. The war lasts ten years and ends with Mercedes sending an army hidden in the belly of a prancing horse into the heart of Ferrari which leads to the destruction of Ferrari's legions. And Seb? Oh, Seb dies a painful death defending Lewis' honour, only for Lewis to enact the ultimate act of betrayal and help Mercedes beat Ferrari and returning home to his husband, not even sparing Sebastian a second thought.

A bitter Carlos meets the talented Charles, who plays the most beautiful melodies on his lyre and somehow falls in love with Carlos within minutes of seeing him and convinced to marry only for their fate to take a terrible turn. And so when Carlos dies, Charles is so distraught, he sings about it until he can sing no more -the Gods and nymphs and muses alike weeping in sorrow as he does. And so in a flit of madness, Charles decides to decent into the depths of the underworld to convince Ferrari to let him return to Earth with his lover. And Ferrari, cruel as they are grant Charles' wish on the one condition: whatever you do, do not look back when Carlos follows you. And poor naive Charles is eager to accept because he would move heaven and earth if it meant he could have his husband back and surely this is an easy task? Oh how wrong he was. The road back to Earth is long, and dark, and narrow, and the souls haunt the catacombs of the underworld, their wailing enough to make Charles' bravado waiver because how can he know for sure his love is behind him still if he cannot see him -cannot hear him? And so the doubt sets in, climbing up his spine and grabbing him by the throat and as Ferrari laugh at Charles' failings, he turns around just mere paces away from Earth, condemning his lover to a life in the underworld. And Charles tries to follow Carlos but no mortal can enter the underworld twice, so he is condemned to live a life in the knowledge he lost the love of his life twice. All he can play are songs of mourning, hoping that maybe once Charles himself dies, they will be together once more

Anon you've got me there because how am I supposed to choose? As Icarus now stands it has covered platonic Maxiel, Charlos, Brocedes, Slagclaren, Princess Cake, Dando, Carlando, Galex, Yukiel, Sebdan, Martian, Sewis, Valewis, Webbonso, and Buttonso, and that's not to mention dozens of other references to other driver duos.

I think my favourite to write is somewhere in between the top five there but in the end what makes F1 so fun to write about is this:

That is your teammate. That is supposed to be the first guy you beat; your closest enemy. But your closest enemy eats with you; you laugh with them and spend more time with them than your own family. You are one of twenty drivers who can drive the fastest cars in the world. Nobody understands what it is like to drive a current season Formula One car except those nineteen others. But the only one who understands what it is like to drive your car is your teammate. The only one who can understand you is your teammate. But they are supposed to be your enemy. In Icarus Maxiel says I would rather not be your teammate than to hate you. Charlos says I would rather be your teammate even when everyone else says I should hate you. Princess Cake says we might not have been teammates but we understand what it is to have been hurt and loved by Lewis Hamilton. Slagclaren says we were teammates, but I (Jenson) knew I could never be what he was to you. Brocedes is I missed you more than I hated you, and I realised this too late.

So how, Anon, am I supposed to choose?

okay yeah I know i disappeared for a while but exams guys. i finally get to escape highschool and be more miserable in college. but what i came here to talk about is a couple of things. i've been chronically online ofcourse and have consumed a lot of media obviously. but I will give you guys a quick run down.

1. carlos sainz: WHAT THE FUCK FERRARI??????????? i mean don't get me wrong i'm so happy for lewis and as seb said the real measure is always whether he's happy or not and fuck mercedes. but them not telling carlos anything????? LIKE ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE??? NOTHING??? that's another level of fuckery. i love ferrari but man they just never fail to disappoint me. god damn. but he got his appendix removed and simultaneously injected jet fuel in his bloodstream so good for him. he better show these fuckers what they'll miss out on. and oh my charlos heart. how can you separate them? just how can you be so cruel? but hey i genuinely wish the best for both carlos and lewis. they're immensely talented and deserve everything.

2. max verstappen: my man dominating again. we love to see it. i love him so much and so viscerally i don't think anyone understands.

3. charles leclerc: i wish i could have the lec icecreams. he's so talented, i will cry. baby Leo is my favourite. he's doing so good.

4. ollie bearman: a talented boy. will walk to the ends of earth for him and his precious smile.

5. daniel riccardo: i honestly don't know how to feel about him anymore. like don't get me wrong he makes me so happy. but his recent comments about the horner situation did piss me off. and liam coming for his seat. idk man i just feel very icky about the whole situation.

I answered that in one of my latest posts and my choice was Charlos buuuuuut you know what? I have another answer.

Two, for all that matters.

First one, Honeychili, aka Carlos and Daniel.

I meaaaan, come on, they’re both so handsome and hot and I have a thing for big noses and facial hair and Daniel and Carlos? Huuff, my God, spectacular.

I just also love the fact that one is all hard muscles and big biceps and plump lips and luscious hair, while the other is all lanky and small waist and slim thighs and tattoos. In my imagination, Carlos picks Daniel up whenever he’s a bit of a brat and shuts him up just by holding him against his chest.

I just have to write about them, my my my.

For the second one, I’m deeply undecided between Lewierre and Britcedes.

Lewierre aka Lewis and Pierre. Lewis is hot, that’s it, nothing to add I mean- it’s pretty clear, right? Tattoos and chest and biceps and abs and abs and abs and abs-

Pierre, oh my God, I have a confession to make. My heart beats for Carlos Sainz, that much is pretty clear, but my first love? The one that made me stumble more into F1? Pierre Gasly.

I don’t get how many people don’t see how beautiful he is. Those lips and that jaw and that beard and those eyes? My God, Pierre’s eyes are one of the Wonders of this world, so beautiful.

Not to talk about his abs - ehehhehehe abs.

Anyway, Lewis and Pierre? Easily one of the sexiest pairs on the grid.

But also Britcedes, aka Lewis and George. The same previous reasons stand for Lewis, while for George I honestly do find him really sexy. I guess it’s the chiseled jaw, I like it a lot, and the big blue eyes and, more recently, the hair.

Oh my God George’s new hairstyle? Killed me and brought me back to life, incredible, exactly the one that suits him the most, not gel and no nothing.

If Max Verstappen stops styling his hair up to the ceiling, I’ll add him to the list as well.

WIPs GAMES: What are on my words?

shout out to @vicsbasement who tagged and recognize my works! Yes, I used to be a writer back in 2019-2020 and wrote mostly about brocedes and anime, but since lewis lost the championship, I lost the entire mood to write about rpf driver and then boom! charlos happened, i was like -- okay let's do this again. English is not my first language and I'm still learning about expressing emotion, writing about "show but don't tell", and obviously with grammar.

Here's some work in progress. (my inspiration came from song lyrics. That's why I like to create a driver's playlist. I also reflect on the real-life events that happen to me or the people surroundings me) . Feel free to ask me more about the details;

a series, and they said the relationship is easy:

1st -> Enchanted by the Prancing Horse / EBPH for short. (E) (kind of like a 5+1 thingy about ... (secret hehe) I am currently working on the fifth part, and it's already 13k words :D

2nd -> Alphabet of Hearts (M) (TW!!!!! like real TW!) (one of my proudest stories I've written so far? chaptered about 8. I am currently working on chapter 5 (what's all about the five XD)

these series are written mostly in Carlos's POV. big big big thanks to @f1amboyant because they are encouraging me to try writing in new POV i never tried before. I love this series I've been working on for a year, so I hope I can convey the message to the reader and have much recognition <3

(since i'm more comfortable writing in Charles POV, because I feel like Charles and I share many similarities in terms of family and struggle, that's why my Charles characterization sometimes resembles mine. It also makes Ocean and Engines fic a big hit in my "start again writing career", because it was actually from a real event.)

one-shot: take a chance with me. (Planning on to be a continuation from ocean and engines. this ' series ' uses NIKI albums as it is representing my real-life experience, but I couldn't state it explicitly :D)

Hmm specifically as an alpha and a third for Lestappen with omega Max? I feel Carlos has good history and some chemistry with Max- maybe slightly protective of the younger omega from their torro rosso days and more platonically helped out with a heat before. Plus you get all the Charlos teammate tension as well!

Your Oscar as a young and levelheaded alpha whose had to deal with so much Lestappen trauma and just happened to be there at the right time could work nicely as well!

I also more randomly had a thought of Lewis & Charles at Ferrari fighting over who Max considered their biggest rival recently and feel like that dynamic with Lewis as a kind of mentor kind of competitor to Charles and as someone who doesn’t often get on with Max but also respects him and isn’t about to let some random alpha help out that specific omega in need could work really well for omegaverse.

Max and Carlos definitely have the history from when they were younger - whether that would cause tension with Charles or make things easier could be really interesting.

Charles and Lewis having a fierce rivalry but both coming together to make sure Max is okay is also really fun! A different kind of teammate bonding!
