Oscar mirrors your eye roll as Lando protests you placing a house on one of your properties. "She owns it though?" he says tentatively.
Lando scoffs, snatching up the guide and snapping it open. "The rules say–"
"I refuse to follow rules when you rolled twice so you wouldn't go to jail," you say with a huff, snatching the guide from him.
"I had to! One of the dice landed on the floor!"
"Oh but when we play golf I have to play no matter where my ball lands?"
"Yes." Lando gives you a look of disbelief, as though the idea of breaking a golfing rule is akin to murder. "It's not my fault you can't hit a ball straight."
"Just for that–" You slap more brightly colored money in front of Oscar - Oscar has to be the banker he's the most honest one among us - and grab a hotel to replace the house. "Suffer."
Lando groans, throwing up his hands. "You're cheating. I hate games night."
Oscar's grin shifts and he begins to chuckle. "We could play Trivial Pursuit?"
"No," Lando whines, picking up the dice to take his turn. "That game makes me feel stupid."
"Uno?" you suggest sweetly.
"No, we'll finish this. Capitalism is good to me, I'll make a comeback." Lando nods to himself as he shakes the dice. "Just shut up so I can focus."
And then, twenty minutes later–
"What d'you mean I owe you double the rent?!"
The rules are checked - well this is fucking bullshit - and he counts out all of his money to pay up. Suddenly capitalism sucks and he's clinging to his one property block and his cash like they're his lifeline.
You'll never know how (he probably cheated) but he wins. Monopoly money rains down as he celebrates and you fall back with laughter when Oscar flips the board in disgust.
You love games night. The silly playlist Lando put together plays, Disney movies play, muted, on the tv, and you've got them.
Lando and Oscar. Your biggest rivals on the track and your closest friends off. You're celebrating Oscar's first win this week now that summer break is here, enjoying the lazy days before you each take off in different directions to visit family and recuperate from an exhausting first half of the season.
"Loser cleans up," you remind Oscar and he groans as he gives you a kiss then begins picking up the mess. Lando's singing along to the latest country song he's obsessed with - Is it your heart or mine? Is it whiskey or wine? Is it somethin' in the night Makin' us wanna cross that line? - and he follows you into the kitchen to get more drinks.
"You sure you don't want to come along with me?" he asks, reaching around you to get a beer from the fridge.
"Let me see... Golfing with a bunch of men versus beach time with my best friends…" You hum thoughtfully, squealing when loops an arm around you.
"That can't be right. Me and Osco are your best friends," he says.
"Let me rephrase. Best women friends."
He's holding you close, swaying a little to the song playing - you think Oscar's the one who added ABBA, or maybe it was you - and you smile a little as you sway with him. He hums songs without realizing it and it's one of his more endearing habits.
"But I'll miss you," he murmurs, tucking his chin on your shoulder.
"I'll miss you too." And you will. This season you've grown closer to him. Literally, considering he finally talked you - and Oscar - into moving to Monaco. But also figuratively. You're just as rough on yourself as he is on himself, and with all the macho bravado that surrounds you every race week, it's nice to have someone who understands your being upset over missing out on a podium due to your own failings as a driver, your miscommunication with the team. It's rarer to have someone who understands shouldering the blame of the team's missteps – if I was better at this, they would trust my judgment but I'm not so they don't and that means—
"Not getting sappy on me are you?" Lando teases.
"You started it," you mutter. Turning, you wrap your arms around him. "We can live a few weeks without each other."
"I mean… You'll text right? Call?" he asks softly.
"FaceTime too," you promise.
It's tentative and new and so fucking scary but he gives you a soft kiss. Not your first with him, but it still makes your heart do that weird little flutter that it's only ever done with one other person.
"Jenga?" Oscar calls from the living room and Lando perks up instantly, nearly knocking you down in his haste to get back to the only other person he's going to miss during break.
Jenga with your boys is impossible. They're too competitive, know too many things they can say that make the other break and send the blocks flying.
"Oh of course he's going for the bottom, man loves to be at the bottom," Oscar mutters to you and Lando's giggling, covering his face with his hands as the tower collapses.
The games are abandoned, and you're squished on the couch between them, Oscar's lips on your ear, Lando's head on your stomach as the three of you, tipsy and relaxed, begin making plans for the last days of break while a Studio Ghibli movie plays. It's not said by either of you, but you already know that the three of you will find each other long before the break is over.
The world is easier to bear when it's the three of you together. It's still new, still tentative, still scary as hell, but it feels oh so right.

This man LIVES for flirting. He was definitely coy about it before you were dating, he used one to ask you on a date—it was such a fucking stupid pick up line—but he was comfortable enough with you to pull it out, even brought raisins to snack on for the bit, offering you one, “Care for a raisin?”
Your nose scrunches up, “No, I’m good.”
But Eddie’s not done yet. He’ll actually never be done with you, “What? Don’t like them?”
“They’re alright, not my favorite thing.”
“What about a date?” His grin is so big, teeth flashing as he delivers the punchline and you can’t not smile like some dork in love even though it was stupid, it made your heart sputter. “Did you get my joke?”
“Yes, Eddie.”
“Okay, just checking. Sooooo, you gonna go out with me?”
“Yes, Eddie.”
“Okay, just checking again.”
After he knows you’re interested and after he secures you???? He has no filter. None. He will pull out every cheesy line he’s got. He’s a man of opportunity, so if you set yourself up for him to drop you a line, he’s doing it. I’ve already got this headcanon that he’s pretty much a slightly edgier version of Duckie Dale, so not only is he making it his life’s mission to flirt with you until you can’t think about anyone but him, he’s also serenading you in public (that scene was iconic and made me fall in love with Duckie). You two would be at the mall, walking past the fountain and he’d let go of your hand only to run up and jump on top of the fountain, singing out Rick Astley’s “Together Forever” (he actually hates that song and Rick Astley, but he’s tryna get his point across) at the top of his lungs.
When you finally manage to get him down, he’s still singing while you drag him away, “TOGETHER FOREVER AND NEVER TO PART, TOGETHER FOREVER WITH YOU!”
Then he somehow ends up being the one in control, twirling you around towards the exit rather than dragging, “AND DON’T YOU KNOW I WOULD MOVE HEAVEN AND EARTH TO BE TOGETHER FOREVER WITH YOOOOUUU!”
He pretends nothing happened the moment you get in the van. He won’t deny it when you bring it up to your friends because 1.) he doesn’t care, he’s getting laid; 2.) he already entertained the idea of gaslighting the memories out of you but he doesn’t plan on stopping his randomly timed romantic outbursts so there’s no point and 3.) he knows you actually really, really love it.
Eddie likes watching you too, admiring you, you’re not even doing anything special. Could be flipping through a magazine, reading a book and you still got him kicking his feet in the air, hands in his palms. “Oh, how I love thee. Let me count the ways,” then he proceeds to list literally every single thing about you, from how pretty your hair is, to your eyes and the way you’re rolling them at him right then, how pretty you look when you blush and exist, likes that thing you do with your tongue in his mouth and on his cock, how good you smell, loves your kisses and how often you’ll take the time to straddle him and just plaster them all over his face just because, how loved you make him feel, how you’re the reason why he didn’t care about learning drum solos (which he alternated for) because the only thing he wanted to bang was you—you threw your magazine at him for that one—and then to shut him up you smother his face in kisses again.
This isn’t even really flirty but I need to state that he definitely has his hand up for a high-five after sex.

Unknown / Nth analysis
My post got some notes so now you must all read my Hozier lecture. You have no choice.
SOME DISCLAIMERS: I am currently in the process of reading Dante’s The Inferno so most of the information about it is pulled from the internet/prior knowledge that might be completely wrong. Feel free to correct me/add to the post with more information that I left out because I am sure I will leave out something. Also, most of this is my own personal feelings on the matter, art is subjective!! And if you disagree, I would love to hear it, discussion is what makes art and music and fandom fun. With that, onto the lecture.
BACKGROUND: As Hozier himself says in this interview, the song is about Treachery, the ninth circle of hell as Dante describes it in his Inferno. It depicts feelings of betrayal, loneliness, and longing as told from the perspective of God freshly betrayed by the one he most trusted, Lucifer. This is where most of the imagery in the song comes from. (I think that is super cool). I’m also gonna talk about my own interpretation of the song from when I first listened to it, since even without the background knowledge it’s such a powerful song. For convenience, the person singing the song is gonna be called “the speaker” and the person they’re singing to is gonna be called “the betrayer.”
You know the distance never made a difference to me – right off the bat Hozier is crushing our souls. This first line establishes so much love and longing its almost painful- feelings that have persevered despite past obstacles and will continue to persevere for the foreseeable future. The speaker has been separated from the betrayer before (past tense MADE implies this is not a new struggle to them), and the betrayer knows that.
I swam a lake of fire, I’d have walked across the floor of any sea – again, the speaker is proving their devotion by professing the things they have done, and what they are willing to do in the future (I SWAM a lake of fire, I’D HAVE WALKED across the floor of any sea; past tense to future). What I realized after Hozier talked about the inspiration for the song is: this line is referencing how Lucifer got into hell. The “lake of fire” refers to the punishment/imprisonment he received for his betrayal and what he has already endured by being separated from God, the literal and metaphorical hell that he had to go through in order to be in the position he is in. The “floor of any sea” refers to the frozen ocean he is trapped in, the one he is constantly trying to escape. God created this prison, and yet he would have been willing to traverse it.
Ignore the vastness between all that can be seen/and all that we believe/so I thought you were like an angel to me – This line is talking about the reality of the situation versus the image the speaker has in their mind of the betrayer. If they ignore what is actually happening (all that can be seen), they can still remember the betrayer as an angel (all that we believe). Incorporating the divine a little bit, this line could also be talking about the distance between heaven, the mortal realm/earth, and hell.
Funny how true colors shine in darkness and in secrecy – Pretty straightforward as far as the verses in this song go; a slightly ironic tone that acknowledges a betrayer’s tendency to never fully reveal themselves until it’s too late.
If there were scarlet flags, they washed out in the mind of me – Though again ironic and slightly self-deprecating, the message is heart-wrenchingly simple. The speaker loved the betrayer so much they couldn’t see the warning signs of their deceit/ chose to ignore it in favor of looking at all of their goodness. This line begins a phenomenon that I like to call “the Humanization of God.” God is supposed to be all knowing/all-powerful/whatever else you attribute him with. Yet he didn’t see the warning signs of betrayal from his closest friend, something painfully human.
Where a blinding light shone on you every night/and either side of my sleep/where you were held frozen like an angel to me – The “blinding light” this is referring to could mean three things (or all of those things at the same time): 1)it represents a pedestal/spotlight that the betrayer was put upon by the speaker, which is why red flags were so easily ignored. The speaker looked up to the betrayer so much they couldn’t fathom them possibly being anything other than perfect. OR 2) In the third installment of the Divine Comedy, Dante is enveloped by a “blinding light” that raises him up to heaven and allows him to see God. Therefore, the blinding light could reference the divinity Lucifer held before his betrayal, something that God thought would mean he was stuck as (FROZEN, even) an angel, and therefore unable to betray him. OR 3) this verse is talking about Lucifer after he’s already been trapped in hell, with the “blinding light” being the surface he’s trying to escape to. This interpretation would be especially sad because of the line “you were held frozen like an angel to me”, implying that even after his betrayal, God still sees Lucifer as an angel, not as a sinner or a demon. Even without the biblical context, the speaker still holds good memories of the betrayer after all is said and done, choosing to remember them as an “angel” rather than reflect on their horrible acts.
CHORUS TIME- there’s a quote that I always think about when I listen to this chorus: “To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God.”
 It ain’t the being alone/It ain’t the empty home baby/You know I’m good on my own -  the speaker has very clearly been alone before, which is sad because it implies that the betrayer is the one who alleviated this loneliness, providing company where there previously was none. Now that they’re gone, they’re back to being alone. Also the implication that the speaker confided in the betrayer about this past loneliness (YOU know I’m good on my own) makes their abandonment so much more heartbreaking.
Sha-la-la, baby, you know, it’s more the being unknown – Something new to the speaker, though, is the feeling of being unknown. God has always been placed on a pedestal, with no one to keep him company except his angels. Lucifer was the first angel, known as the angel of Light, and was someone God trusted and confided in. God thought he knew Lucifer, just as Lucifer knew him, and now with his closest friend gone, he must return to that lonely position of power, unknown to any other angel or worshipper as anyone other than God- distant, all powerful, unapproachable God. And maybe this betrayal is what forced God up into heaven in the first place, doomed to never again be known as he was by Lucifer. In a way, that’s almost exactly like the punishment he’s given to his betrayer.
So much of the living, love, is the being unknown – This line reads surprisingly hopeful to me. It’s an acknowledgement of the situation, sort of saying “oh well, that’s life” to the most famous betrayal of all time. The most important part about this line is the tone; there’s no bitterness, no resentment of the circumstances or the people that have led them to this situation.
You called me angel for the first time, my heart leapt from me – This line is talking about the first time the betrayer and the speaker met, and how that interaction affected the speaker. It also speaks to how much one person can be changed by another’s affection. As soon as the speaker was called angel, their heart was no longer their own, trusted entirely to the betrayer to use as they will. It also seems the decision was at least a little bit unwilling on the speaker’s part (the phrase “leapt FROM ME” implies unwillingness; the speaker didn’t GIVE their heart away, it jumped from their grasp). Point is, the speaker was definitely in denial about how close they were to the betrayer. Another instance of humanizing God in the context of the story, for though he is often depicted as loving, you never really think of him as having a heart to be broken or to be given away to his most trusted.
You smile now, I can see its pieces still stuck in your teeth – the imagery in this line is insane; the speaker’s heart was literally chewed up and spit out by the betrayer by their act. The fact that literal scraps are seen in a SMILE shows the betrayer still deceiving, trying to placate/make friends with the speaker even as their heart is in literal pieces because of their mouth. This is also another reference to the Inferno- Lucifer is described as a three-headed demon, with each of his mouths chewing on the bible’s/history’s greatest betrayers: Brutus, Longinus, and Judas. Brutus and Longinus are being punished for their role in Julius Caesar’s assassination by being stuck feet-first in Lucifer’s mouth. Judas receives the worst punishment of the three; his head is being chewed on while his back gets scraped up by Lucifer’s claws.
And what’s left of it, I listen to it tick/every tedious beat/going unknown as any angel to me – This. Line. Oh my god. Even in the teeth of their betrayer, torn to shreds, the speaker’s heart is still beating and alive, just as their love for the betrayer is. And after thinking it over (“listening to their heart”), they realize that maybe they don’t know their own heart as well as they thought. Because what heart would love a betrayer? (A HUMAN ONE, PROBABLY. HUMANIZATION OF GOD.) Also, the use of angel, not as a term of endearment as it was previously, but in reference to a group (unknown as ANY angel, rather than MY angel or THE angel) indicates both God’s realization that he didn’t know Lucifer as well as he thought and a resolution to never trust or hold another angel as close ever again.
AND NOW FOR MY FAVORITE PART!!!!!!!! BY FAR THE BEST PART OF THE WHOLE SONG IN MY OPINION. Setting aside the lyrics and the meaning of the song, just the pure power of Hozier’s voice in this section gets me every time. So much of a change from the easygoing guitar that’s made up the rest of the song- there’s like a heavenly chorus behind him, he’s singing at the top of his lungs louder and higher than any other part, it’s just so…. I don’t even know how to explain it. It’s so good.
Do you know I could break beneath the weight?/Of the goodness, love, I still carry for you – Personally, I think the “goodness” that is being described here is the speaker’s hope that the betrayer is still a good person, deep down inside. It’s a hope that is futile and slowly “breaking” the speaker, because the deed has already been done, yet the speaker still carries it. In addition to that, I like to think that the responsibility of heaven was shared between God and Lucifer before his betrayal, and now without him, God is forced to carry the weight and pressure of being the divine creator of the universe all alone.
That I’d walk so far just to take/The injury of finally knowing you – Referencing the line earlier in song (I’d have walked across the floor of any sea) and again stressing the lengths the speaker is willing to go for the betrayer. The best part about this line is, again, the acknowledgement of pain by the speaker. They specifically say “the INJURY of finally knowing you”, meaning that fully, truly knowing the betrayer as they want to would cause lasting harm. Also, the realization that, as things currently stand, the speaker DOESN’T know the betrayer (hence the use of the word finally, implying future), and to know them completely would mean to know the reasons WHY they betrayed the speaker, which would certainly cause “injury.” Yet the speaker DOESN’T CARE. They don’t CARE how hurt they are by the betrayer, how much it WILL HURT in the future, they just want to be with them and if that isn’t the saddest thing-
The closing chorus is mostly the same as it was before (it ain’t the being alone/it ain’t the empty home baby/you know I’m good on my own/sha-la-la, baby, you know, it’s more the being unknown) except for the final line.
And there are some people, love, who are better unknown – my initial reaction to this line was that it sounded surprisingly hopeful considering the rest of the song, much like the line in the first appearance of the chorus. I took it to mean that the speaker accepted the fact that the betrayer was bad for them, and maybe it’s better off that they don’t know them. But looking back at all the analysis about how far the speaker would go, all the injury they are willing to put themselves through, that just doesn’t make much sense (Plus the fact that the speaker still says “love”). No, that wouldn’t be the Hozier way. Instead, I think this line is the speaker blaming themselves. Saying that THEY are the ones who are better unknown, because they’ve tried the whole love and trust thing and look how that turned out. Consider the character of the speaker that’s been built throughout the entire song: someone who gone through hell and is still willing to go farther for someone who clearly won’t do the same, someone who ignored red flags in favor of focusing on the good, someone who trusted their heart to a person who chewed it up without a second thought. This is definitely a person to take betrayal personally, to turn on and blame themselves rather than get angry at the betrayer, the actual person at fault. The rest of the chorus and previous analysis supports this too (speaker is ok with being alone/on their own, but they are NOT ok with being unknown. So, to inflict that on themselves is a fitting punishment). Also, the speaker being the self-blaming person they are, this line could be read as sort of an apology; if they hadn’t let themselves be known, let themselves open up to the betrayer, maybe neither of them would be hurting this much in the first place. It might’ve been better if the speaker had STAYED unknown and alone as they were before knowing the betrayer.
This whole analysis is a cumulation of all the thoughts that have been fermenting in my brain for the past month, so if it’s a bit nonsensical I do apologize. Elvis kind of liked making movies. He had his fun on the set and met some of the best people. However, the dissapointment was always present when the script landed in his hands. Same old story: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, gets the girl and marries her. Not to mention the mediocre songs he had to sing in almost every single shot. It all got draining after the third one.
So, when the Colonel came up to him with another movie contract, he couldn't help but audibly groan. This was it, the rest of his life, a vicious never-ending cycle of absolute torture and movie scripts. He wanted to scream and cry like a child, take the script that the Colonel was holding and tear it to pieces. For obvious reasons, he couldn't do that, so he chose to start pasing around Graceland's living room.
"I've done six pictures Colonel," Elvis tried to negotiate with his over-enthusiastic manager "I-I-I think it's time I focus on my music, ya know?"
"Whatever you want, my boy, however," That's how it always went "You're going to regret turning this one down, if you decide to do so"
"Is that so?" Elvis was unimpressed, how special could this film be?
"Why would I lie to you, my boy?" You got your reasons, Elvis thought but still shrugged, waiting for the Colonel's answer
"First of all, this will be filmed in Hawaii and-"
"I've been there at least five times" He was starting to get angry at his manager, who was struggling to excite him.
"Well, have you been to Hawaii with Y/n Y/l/n? Cause I don't think you have" The look in the man's eye was umatched. Elvis's jaw dropped slightly and the Colonel looked satisfied with himself.
"Y-Y-Y/n Y/l/n?" Elvis's pasing stop abruptly. There it was, the catch. This is why the Colonel was so eager to put him on that castlist. He could feel his heart beating out of his chest.
"The one and only, my boy" The colonel played around with his walking stick
"She was in East of Eden" Elvis mumbled to himself, recalling how many times he had watched that film, but somehow the Colonel heard him.
"Mhmm- With that James Dean you like so much"
"Yeah- I-I-I- She- She wants to be in a movie with me?"
"Oh, yes, my boy, she requested it, in fact" The colonel got up with difficulty, a smirk still plastered on his face
"Ain't no way.."

The first day on set was chaotic, Elvis expected this though. The crew was running around and testing all their equipment, while the actors found themselves in makeup chairs, re-reading their lines. Elvis could not believe that he was doing this, starring in a film with one of the most famous actors in Hollywood. Y/n was what every actor aspired to be. She was literally best friends with Marilyn Monroe, having starred in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes with her. Y/n was a few years older than him and so experienced and so very terrifying.
Elvis raised his head as someone walked into the makeup and hair room. It was her, in all her glory. Despite the fact that it was 7am, she was there wearing her pearls and red lipstick, heels clicking on the linoleum flooring.
"Good morning, Miss Y/l/n" Barbara, the hairstylist, said as she finished up Elvis's hair, then yelled towards the backroom "Jackie! Mr.Presley is ready for makeup!"
Elvis winced a little as the woman screamed over his head, but reminded himself that he had to stay as professional as possible. If Y/n told anyone anything remotely bad about him, his career would be over before he knew it.
"The humidity here in Hawaii is absolutely killing my hair" Y/n spoke as she sat down on the chair next to Elvis. He didn't know whether she expected him to answer or not, so he played it safe and kept focusing on the line he had already read twice.
"If this is how your hair looks dead, sugar, I wonder how it looks like when it's alive" Barbara smirked, playing around with Y/n's hair. Elvis figured that Barbara and Y/n had worked together in the past, because the stylist surely wasn't as friendly with him.
"Oh stop it, Barbie-" Y/n giggled, looking unexpectedly shy but still continuing the conversation "You know, the stylist on my previous film almost fried my hair off- I tell ya, there's no one who does my hair like you do"
"It's called professionalism, angel-" Barbara stopped talking to check her watch, sighing dramatically "Oh goodness, I need to head to the back and see what Jackie's up to- That woman is all over the place" She said distastefully, leaving Elvis alone with Y/n.
Y/n casually grabbed a magazine from the vanity in front of her and leaned back in her chair. Elvis couldn't help but envy her confidence. He looked like a lost child on every set, even though he had done one too many movies already. He should be accustomed to this whole ordeal, but yet he isn't. Of course, that's why he became a singer in the first place, he belonged on a stage not in film studios.
"Not going to introduce yourself to me, are you?" Y/n spoke up, not bothering to look at him. Perhaps the dress on the magazine was far more intressing.
"I think there's no need for that" Elvis told her, with a new found confidence. He hated being talked to in that way, as if he wasn't even worth looking at.
"Of course there isn't, Mr.Presley" She rested the magazine on her lap as she turned her head to finally meet his eyes "I simply thought you'd have the common decency to do so, is all"
"Interesting" He mumbled, not helping the way his brows furrowed in irritation. Y/n was trying to mess with him, though he didn't know why.
"Indeed, Mr.Presley" Y/n nodded, grabbing the magazine once again "I just hope you haven't misunderstood your being here"
"What do you mean exactly?" Elvis never expected his first encounter with Y/n to go like this, but he coudn't help the way his blood had started to boil.
Before she could answer, the two stylists came out of the backroom. Elvis saw Y/n smirk with satisfaction, while she resumed flipping through the magazine.

"Alright everyone! Almost always true scene! Take 3! And...Action!"
"I missed you Miley" Elvis said, looking lovingly at Y/n and trying to forget how angry she'd made him just an hour prior. Elvis had to show her that he was on this set for a reason, that he was good at this.
"I missed you too-" Y/n told him sweetly as she pretended to drive "What were you doing all that time while I was missing you?"
"Being true to you?" Elvis hid behind his hat, just like the director had told him to do.
Y/n pushed his hat down playfully "Always?"
"Almost always"
"You mean to tell me-!"
"I was always, baby I was always
Well almost always true to you..." Elvis began singing and dancing around in the car.
The scene felt like it went on forever and having to sing the same lyrics over and over again felt like a punishment that Elvis was sure he didn't deserve. Even so, the director was finally heard from the distance and the cameras stopped rolling.
"Great work everyone!" The director spoke into the megaphone. Then proceeded to walk towards Elvis and Y/n, who were quick to create a distance between each other when they got out of the fake car.
"Elvis, Y/n, how are you getting along?" The man looked at the two actors.
"We're having a wonderful time, Norman" Y/n spoke, smiling wide at the man before her "I'm sure that we'll work extremelly well together for the next couple of months"
Elvis was left impressed by the woman's interpersonal skills. The way she was able to change the topic and completely charm her boss.
"Couldn't agree with you more, Mrs. Y/l/n, couldn't agree more" Norman patted the woman's cheek slightly, and before Elvis could say anything, he was already making his way towards the cafeteria with the rest of the crew. Y/n chuckled a bit after seeing Elvis's expression of pure shock.
"What are ya playing at, doll?"
"Me?" Y/n grinned as she also started making her way towards the buffet "I'm just doing my job, Elvis"
"So that's your job?" Elvis's voice was dripping with sarcasm "And here I was thinking it was acting"
"And that's how I know that you haven't a clue what Hollywood is like, Mr. Presley" Y/n stopped walking, her playfull demeanor shifting to a more austere one, as she looked up at him.
"Are you kidding me? I've done six pictures and-"
"I don't mean making movies, love, I mean Hollywood, the industry" Y/n talked with a hint of sadness in her voice, still she couldn't help the bitter chuckle that erupted from her throat "But you could never understand. You're a man, you don't have the need to charm anyone in your workplace-"
"Well, why do you have the need to do so?" Elvis felt kind of bad for being so agressive, now that he was looking at her dissapointed face.
"Elvis, these directors and producers, they don't want me for my skills, they want me for my body and my looks. So, I might as well use that to my advantage and give them the sweet, dumb woman they expect- And, well, if they take a liking in you, you've secured a year's worth of movie contracts. Now, If you don't mind.." And she walked away, leaving Elvis dumbfounded. While he watched her, the Hollywood Queen he saw in magazines started looking more like a young woman, who was trying to make the most of what she had. Just like him.

I think I’m brainrotting on the rtc swap au now so here’s a bucket load of stuff I wrote about it
literally Constance would get two songs (since she gets switched with Mischa) and the first song is basically TSIA just changed a bit to fit Connie more and the second song instead of being about a lover whose almost on the other side of the world it’s more like Sugar Cloud in actual Ride The Cyclone yk
Also the song order would be like by the character they swapped with so instead of Ocean first (since she was swapped with Jane/Penny) Penny would go first, also considering Legoland would hopefully probably still somewhat exist in the swap au Penny could say a line something like “ You know,, it’s probably best I go first because I have the most experience performing here, “ which would be a direct reference to Legoland

Ohhhhh, I actually had something in mind for their swap songs actually! (sorry if i took a bit too long to actually reply, my laptop suddenly went haywire while i was trying to fix the wifi)

Okay so like, you're absolutely right about two thing, where Penny and Ocean swap, but the order actually goes from Penny, Ricky, Constance, Noel, Ocean doe, and Mischa since they all swapped roles (makes more sense in my head), and how Constance has 2 songs! I also really like the thing about Penny's "You know,, it’s probably best I go first because I have the most experience performing here," line since it kinda actually aligns with the characterization i have for her in mind.
the song I kinda have for Penny would be like a mix of Play to Win and What the world needs, but like, more focus on her love to take advantage of all her friends without making it obvious at first, and how people should always put the important people (her) first. (my thought process for this is like, penny is commonly the one being hurt, so why not let her hurt others)
Ricky's song would be like some tragic song about how the canine people are under attack by the zolarian cat people. It would detail how he'd like, fall in love with one of the canine people and then how he'd sacrifice his life for her to save them all.
Constance's first song would obviously be like TSIA, flexing on everyone obviously, the only difference is better autotone /j
Constance's second song (which you're still right about) would be like a somber sugar cloud. It could actually be like, how she shouldn't have been so mean to everyone around her, and how she misses the warm happy moments of life.
You're also correct about Noel's song, it would most likely detail about his successes as a hooker in post-war France, about how his name is well known around the country, and how someday he wants to settle down with a man who would treat him right
The Jane doe's (Ocean doe's) song would be like a mix of fun and morbid. It would constantly switch back from singing about the countless possibilities of who she was and who she could be, to singing about why no one came to find her, why no one wanted to identify her, and about how sad she is about no one being there to wait for her when she comes back.
Last is Mischa's. Since he's Penny's best friend and how I characterize him as a floor mat and lost puppy kind of person, he uses this last song to stand up to Penny and how he doesn't want to be taken advantage of anymore. It would be in the format of those "i want" songs ngl.
This is basically my idea of the songs (if i actually had song writign skills, i would actually make lyrics lol)

big deep breath OK SO . ive been so excited for this comeback like idk with every new cb i feel like i get even more excited than with the precious one yk so i was really waiting for it to come out!! they released the mv while i was in class (they hate me) but during a little break not long after i managed to watch it and i was bobbing my head and swinging my feet at the sound LJKE U DONT GET IT I WAS GENUINELY SO HAPPY
honestly this is one of my fav svt albums and idk it just makes me so happy all the songs are so perfect and good there's not a single one i don't enjoy and the aesthetic is so cute and im so excited and impatient to FINALLY HAVE MY ALBUM IN MY HANDS ARGHHHH but yes this was such a success im so happy they broke so many records and they just continue to prove how talented they are wooooo
for the songs there isn't one i dislike at all but i really like SOS idk the beat js so nice and the lyrics are really good and this may be also due to me loving marshmello when i was younger but STILL !!! MAKES ME CRY EVERY TIME WITHOUT FAIL
This song really conveys the main messaging of Persona 3 in such a beautiful and well thought out melody. There's a leitmotif originating from it that is present in several other Persona 3 songs, namely Joy, Memories of the City, and Memories of the School. There is also the fact that, the main composer for the entire series, Shoji Meguro, has come out and said that this song is his best work.

It has everything that drives me personally insane about a song. Biblical allusions. Metaphors for characters’ struggles. Great vocalist. CRUNCHY bass line. >120 BOM.

CHERRY! I feel like I haven't spammed your asks in a while- since before I finally came off of anon -but I've got a stupid mental image that I now need to share with someone. I remember you and I having a short discussion on TWST and Phantom songs a while ago, so I thought you'd be the perfect person to tell.
I just saw Phantom of The Opera live two nights ago (and I bawled like a baby the entire time), and at several points during the show the Phantom would randomly appear above the stage at the cieling- it's hard to describe but there was a walkway hidden above the stage and you didn't realize it was there until the Phantom poked his head out from behind the curtains and literally said "I'm here!!!" and he kept moving around and around and his voice would come from all different directions. It was chaotic and ever so slightly comedic. While waiting for my flight home I was playing TWST and listening to the Phantom of The Opera soundtrack and I conjured up this brilliant yet stupid idea.
NRC for some reason or another, puts on a musical and decides to go with one Yuu/MC described to everyone: The Phantom of The Opera. Yuu is cast as Christine by default. Azul lands the role of Raoul due to his wonderful voice, and he's ecstatic because that means he's Yuu's leading man. Jade is cast as the Phantom, and throughout the entirety of Act 1 he does astonishingly well. He's a perfect Phantom: mysterious, elusive, mature, slightly crazed.
Something happens- nobody knows what -and Floyd takes his brother's place for Act 2... and instead of following the script and cues, Floyd instead sings half of the songs incorrectly and runs on stage when he isn't supposed to, or keeps showing up on the walkway above the stage and making random comments- mostly things such as "man, that Octupus Raoul is super lame and boring."
During Masquerade Floys doesn't even wait until he's actually meant to show up. Instead he walks on stage without his mask, eating something, and sits down on the staircase and doesn't move.
It's not Phantom of The Opera anymore. Rook, the director of the now fiasco, is sobbing. Vil is mad as hell because Floyd has altered the once pristine costume, the only thing in tact is the mask. Thankfully, the audience doesn't actually know how The Phantom of The Opera is supposed to go since it isn't from Twisted Wonderland and they had to go with a rundown from Yuu. But some members are still able to tell that Floyd is NOT doing it right. Mostly due to Azul's flabbergasted expression and Yuu's not so quiet threats "Floyd say your line right or else you're going to be a cooked eel!"
Floyd does the last song perfectly... until the part when the Phantom is supposed to let Christine go. Then Floyd says "nah, don't feel like it." and proceeds to pick up Yuu, push Azul out of the way and run off stage. He doesn't return and he and Yuu are nowhere to be found. Azul is frozen on stage and doesn't know what to do. Rook is now on the floor crying. Deuce's solution to the chaos is to drop a Cauldron in the middle of the stage as a distraction while Jack and Epel close the curtains.
Crowley doesn't even stay to see what happens next. He just leaves. 💀
Kalim, bless his heart, starts applauding and yelling "BRAVO!!!"

this play is the most chaotic thing that ever happened in NRC since the Ghost Bride days (and that was only months ago), simply perfect! I loved the octatrio presence here, they're always committed to these kinds of things lmao
AZUL AS RAOUL OMG he does have an incredible voice. I mean, I listened to "Make a Wish" a couple of times already and the way his VA manages to blend with Idia's VA (Uchiyama Koki my beloved) but still be melodic just, oh, melts my hearttt and ofc he uses the chance to court and be romantic to Yuu~
Jade as the Phantom was quite unexpected but I'll allow it lol he would do a good Phantom, I agree. Charming and psychotic, very well... NOW FLOYD DOING THE TWIN-CHANGE AS A TWIST WAS EVERYTHING TO ME LMAO
HE EATING A SANDWICH IN THE STAIRCASE WHILE THE MASQUERADE SCENE IS HAPPENING OH MY GOD SNOWY I'M DYING
I love the detail of Rook crying bc for me, I think was happening for either three things: 1) he's a theater kid and knows well how this is a disaster of epic proportions; 2) he's sobbing at the beauty of chaos and the improv; 3) the two above and that's why he's going insane, bawling his eyes out on Vil's blazer (who's also a certified theater kid). Rook can be critic at times but this conflicts with his ability to have a positive look for everything's beauty... in summary, someone give him a hug

Controversial
As cool as I think I am: I never really vibed with this song. I mean it's good but compared to every other song it just doesn't excite me as much. Although it does always make me laugh and cry.
If I loved you: I just started warming up to this song, but it's also like as cool as I think I am. And then also to sing this right after Ruth dies? If this was placed after they honored her a little more that'd be fine. The emotional whiplash from just for once to this song
The best of you: definitely an earworm. I love all the highschool characters we got from this one song (like brooke and rudolph) and also how this is like their up-town funk, that idea is absolutely adorable. But then, 3 kids died from murders (soon to be 4) in the course of one month and they just forget about it? I can't help but feel a little sour about that. But other than that I love it.
Cool as I think I am (reprise) this song brings me to tears every time I watch NPMD. LIKE joeys performance in this? Breathtaking. It's very sad but also very short
The summoning: I really want to put this song up higher but I do get second hand embarrassment for some parts. Other than that I love the LIB and was absolutely ecstatic we had something for them all together. I really love pokey after yellow jacket so I wish they evened out the lines throughout the song
Dirty Dudes must die: I love how batshit insane Grace became at the end. She is a true icon. And the vocals? CHEFS KISS! Her ending pose is everything. She is THE GIRLBOSS
Dirty girl: I'm going to be honest, I skipped this the first time I watched NPMD. But rewatching and relistening to it really made me appreciate the amazing harmonies in this song. I love them so much in this, although its extremely embarrassing watching with your friends
Literal monster: again, I would love to put this higher but it's hard to rate this. I love love love how max sings a verse in this. But also how the nerds sing too, god the choreography is just sjrjrntjng
Go Go Nighthawks! THE FUCK YOU CLIVESDALE VERSE HAS ME ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING. And Richie dancing in the mascot costume is so funny to me too. Especially cause Jon was battling to keep that on his head when he was in the play. Plus this song is the last time we'll see everyone happy together.
Bury the bully: this song is so funny. But also how everyones voices go together? Changing from bully the bully to bury the bully is GENIUS. the end when "I just cut off his nips" and grace screams "GIVE ME THOSE" is definitely an underrated line
Bully the bully: I know I keep on saying that these songs are hilarious, and that's because they are. Like, the chemistry all the nerds had in this scene? The spins? You can see how much more sure of this they are then in the 'reprise' and how they think this is going to solve all of their problems (it does for like two weeks)
Hatchettown: all the cameos in this made the hours of going through NMT so worth it. (I do recommend watching it. At least season two) even kn tje cast recording boy jerry is in it calls Jeri a dirty girl and I don't think many people know about that. And the bridge in this song? Heavenly. Actually a 10/10 song.
Nerdy prudes must die: this scene is heartbreaking but it was necessary for us to hear Jon's amazing voice. The little details where max uses his powers on him and he like flops to the floor? To good. And he thinks saying "I'm not a loser" will help his case like in all of his animes LMAO. This just really shows how far everyone in starkid has come.
Highschool is killing me: best opening number ever (totally not biased) the opening lines always give me chills how it always smoothly transitions. I think everything in this is perfect.
Just for once is one of the best songs of the hatchet field trilogy and here's why: it uses clever word play and shows how Ruth isn't just a throwaway character.
Jeff blim isn't really known outside of the fandom from having the best lyrics (I obviously love them but this is just some beliefs other people have) he really outshined with this. It just looks so dumb but when you really feel dive on what the double meaning for every lyric is you really start to appreciate it.(someone pointed this out once and I'm just obsessed:the joke of her brushing her hair with the grill brush is also funny because she doesn't have any hair from her chemo treatment)It's heartbreaking to see how Ruth longs for something people wouldn't consider a big deal; she wants to be a middle aged mom. That goal just to be found is so sad to see how much she wants it and then you see that she's never ever going to reach that goal because of Max jagerman. Ruth definitely makes people uncomfortable when watching the musical, but for her character saying the most out of pocket things is her way of getting attention, and then also to have such a pathetic death? It really rubs salt in the wound.
In many ways I can relate to Ruth. Her want to be something when she's older. Ruth's need of attention and affection is also kind of how I do it: with theater and saying weird shit. Although when I say weird shit I think it's hilarious to see their reaction. But she also wants to perform and I love to perform so much and being someone you aren't for just an hour seems so fun.
They couldn't have chosen anyone better but Lauren for this role. You can see how much thought she put into her acting: her little facial expressions, the slightest change in tone of voice and her posture. I love the way she acts in the beginning of the song with the eye batting and the over animated movements are so satisfying but also serve a purpose. It shows how Ruth is mocking the play, but once the movements become less and less animated you see that she longs for that life she is talking about. I just absolutely adore the song and character although she is seen as weird. ENDING NOTES: THIS SONG IS SO GOOD!! LISTEN TO IT RIGHT NOW

bewitched listening party (i<3laufey)
I found Laufey while on tiktok a long time ago before she released music, I knew her because she was a singer/cellist and so was I so I ate up her content. She now has literally the most incredible discography of any newer artist, she has such a unique and beautiful sound like the jazz and orchestral sounds she uses tickles my brain and feeds the part of me that has always loved all jazz/orchestral/choral pieces and performances. As I'm writing this little blurb I'm listening to her new album "Bewitched" and holy shit like seriously I feel like I am ascending while listening to this. I just finished with "While you were sleeping" and it's just indescribable how angelic it sounds. The opening song "Dreamer" started and I just fell over. I was sitting on my floor so it was totally fine but just don't have any perception of what the song will be and then prepare to listen to the entire album (approx. 49 minutes) and you're just going to transform. If you don't like jazz or more classical style singing then gtfo but also come back because Laufey is so amazing that she'll change your opinion. She's always mentioning sunset and that kills me. Love some California representation though but the song "California and Me" just came on and its time for my heart to just fall out of my chest I guess. I know this song very well already as it was released in an EP before the album release. Maybe I am overly emotional about this song because my ex posted it after I talked about how much I love Laufey... but I digress, this song is absolutely stunning. If you have ever felt immense heartbreak hold onto that feeling. If you have ever been on the ride "Soarin" at Disneyworld, imagine the feeling of being on that ride but its like your life X California and Me playing in the background. Now bring back that heartbreak feeling and add it into the mix and that's just like how this song makes me feel just sitting in bed. So I am halfway through the album and I think the most heartbreaking thing she could have possibly done is put the Nocturne (Interlude) right in between "California and Me" and "Promise" (Promise absolutely wrecks me and makes me cry every time its longing for someone you can't have anymore and knowing you shouldn't reach out, you promised, but time moves so much slower without them. How can you distance yourself from someone you love so much, someone you want to spend your life with. "how we didn't say goodbye, just see you very soon" "it hurts to be something its worse to be nothing with you". Like please. Give me a chance to breathe before giving me another gut-wrenching line. She says she'll always lose the temptation of you. "Well never last". She's done the math. WHO HURT HER. Like hello relatable but LORDY. Then we go light bossa nova careless fun song like the variation and just damn TALENT from this girl is insane. Laufey stan for life when can I see her in concert I am itching for a wintertime concert from her. Until then, I'll be daydreaming to her music and living in my delulu world or crying my broken heart out to her sadder songs. Either way, this album is a really beautiful piece of art to the world. Like we are all so lucky to be alive at the same time as music like this (currently listening to serendipity) is being created. "Letter to my 13 year self" is the trifecta perfect addition to this years aim at healing and understanding self and girlhood and life like this song X Barbie X Eras Tour really has made me feel like a human being again. This song would absolutely kill me if I were listening at 13, that age is so horrible and vulnerable and formative like this song would have been such a comfort knowing that it's all going to be ok and not even knowing what "it" is. There so much to learn and to lose and at 13 there's no way to even fathom what on earth will change . Ending this album with Bewitched is beautiful and sick and twisted. Such a heartbreaking album and ending it with a love song pains me but being the title track, shows there's always love at the end.

DEEP END - i’m like SOOOOO obsessed with the way this song is so perfectly felix. the way it’s so self-contained outside the sound of the album, like it has SUCH a strong sense of identity. some parts of this are so billie eilish, the vocal layering and reverb, so isn’t it lovely. he’s showing VOCAL RANGE. my fave is his midrange, especially singing. in like...every song, i can mostly always do without falsetto (unless it’s like...zayn tbh) but that’s personal preference, i’m OBSESSED with the way he slides so effortlessly between depths. high to low and everything in between. his voice is so unique and flexible and he sings with SUCH expression. INDULGE THIS MORE. GIVE HIM MORE LINES.
