We still have some hope for Tomodachi Life 2, as we know that the Tomodachi Life trademark has been renewed, and we saw that Nintendo renewed the trademark for the Mario & Luigi rpg and look what happened during the direct today.
Again, putting on my clown mask I guess. But I do have hope that it'll come back in some form. My best guess is that if Miitopia came back as a port, Tomodachi Life will come back as a port, most likely with the same new Mii customization in Miitopia.
But I also have a tiny theory. If Miitopia got a port before Tomodachi Life (Which is weird because Miitopia is very much a newer game compared to Tomodachi Life) then it could be that they're making a new one and didn't wanna port the old one to the switch. I don't know if you follow my logic but that's my two cents at least.
I am such a Tomodachi Life truther bbgs. Got the game when it first came out and have made island after island. A lot of people want this game, more than I thought really (So many people in the chat were begging for a Tomodachi Life 2, it's crazy that it's so big, considering that none of my friends know about it) This is also true for Miitopia (I have SO MANY SAVES). (When I first got the game I was like 9 and actually used it for it's intended purposes (I.E putting my friends and family into it) but then as I grew older I still put them in but also put characters from shit that I loved into it.
So long story short, I ended up married to Freddy Fazbear at one point. But I also now use it for my ocs.
ANYWAY! I really wanna make a whole post for what I want in a Tomodachi Life 2 if we ever get one. There's so many things you can do with it and so much that hasn't been explored.
Sorry for the nerd rant. I just love Tomodachi Life so much.

‘enjoyer’ to me has two meanings. it either means you’re a “fake fan” who hasn’t actually properly read/watched/played the media for yourself and you don’t know that much about it but you like it on a surface level and that’s enough for you, or it means you have done the above but you refuse to participate in fandom culture online for it lest discourse and negativity end up ruining you and so you just enjoy it peacefully by yourself. i think this is an excellent term btw
#there are lots of things i consider myself an enjoyer of that i’ll post about occasionally#like ace attorney and persona 5 for some examples#even though i only really know some stuff i enjoy seeing it on my dash#there are a few things i like and i am a ‘true fan’ of but i won’t show those colors on here#like miraculous ladybug. i’m media literate enough by now to recognize nitpicks and handle them with grace by myself#so i don’t even wanna touch whatever is probably going on on here#bc i know it’s silly and wild but listen the very specific type of shenanigan that mlb is? you either love it or you hate it. and i love it#and there are too many fans who fall into that ‘hate’ category and don’t realize that the show is never gonna be for them#this is all to say i’m not certain yet what i’ll do about pokémon legends arceus#like do i add it to my pinned post do i start following blogs and browsing tags etc#or do i just quietly enjoy it alone on my blog and reblog stuff that floats my way but never go out looking for stuff#bc yknow it’s actually quite relaxing not participating in fandom sometimes yanno#and i don’t want anything to kill my hype#when something has either a large fandom or regular releases you can always be satisfied by the content that’s there#aka there’s no pressure on you to entertain yourself and make the stuff you want to see#i love kh but that’s how it is for me sometimes and i guess that’s the kicker of not having played the games myself#is that my entire experience with it is through youtube vids and fandom online which is probably not great#i’m probably exhausting myself more than i should over it#i have played twewy myself obv so i can entertain myself but also the fandom is tiny and chill anyway#i like creating my own twewy posts tho lol#most of the time#i do get tired sometimes of feeling like i have to provide content for others#or really tbh it’s not even others fault most of the time it’s self inflicted#bc i do genuinely love analyzing media and writing down my thoughts and sharing#when i write a huge block of text that’s the real me. when i do meme edits that’s me trying to people please#art is..: somewhere in between#peach rambles

What are the gangs favorite type of video games to play? Weather it’s Mario, Pokémon, sports, rhythm games, horror games, etc etc.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. YOU ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD!!!! Now...
Poppy prefers tabletop games more, but she can be often caught playing or seeing someone else playing The Sims. She LOVES that game - Angel has The Sims 2 installed on their computer, and when they all move to a bigger house Poppy gets her own PC so she can play TS2 as much as she wants.
Kissy doesn't play much on her own, but she really loves 3D platformers and adventure games. Her favorites are the og Spyro the Dragon trilogy! I think she loves watching others play pokémon as well.
Huggy loves racing games. Get anything with a car and he's instantly in love with it.
I can Mommy Long Legs making super over-the-top stories on The Sims 2 as well, so she and Poppy often share news of what their sims are doing. They are both active in forums and are trying to make their own custom content for the game!
Bunzo is a pokémon guy.
PJ Pug-a-Pillar doesn't like playing games in general but he LOVES watching others play, esp if there's lots of cutscenes. It's like watching a movie!
Miss Delight falls in love with Portal 2 when it's released, but I think she's really picky with her puzzle games. She likes being a bit creative on her solutions! She's also really into RPGs. I think the Fallout franchise is her comfort game.
Catnap and Craftycorn are walking Silent Hill encyclopedias, but they LOOOOVE survival horror. Catnap's fav is the original SH1, while Craftycorn loves Haunting Ground (PS2) and SH3.
Bobby on the other hand prefers Resident Evil and Clock Tower 3, but when it's not horror it's definitely a more experimental game. She cries everytime she plays Shadow of the Colossus but she loves it.
Bubba, much like Miss Delight, is SUPER into RPGs and puzzle games, but pokémon and Ace Attorney have conquered his heart. He LOOOVES gushing about it!
Picky's favorite is Animal Crossing! It makes her feel safe and she loves just walking around her town. She made a really impressive one and everyone wants updates from her villagers, Picky loves giving them.
Kickin can't get enough of any FPS or action-adventure game, and he can and WILL ragequit if he's playing online and his teammates start being rude to him or each other. Thankfully he learned really quick how to deal with the more toxic players so now he can truly relax. Unfortunately doomed to become a League of Legends player when it comes out.
Hoppy also loves FPS, but 3D platformers and open-world games are her favorites. Anything that gives her plenty of freedom to move around or just be silly immediately catches her attention! I think she becomes a Team Fortress 2 player.
Dogday prefers to watch rather than play and he gets SO invested. I think Miss Delight likes playing puzzle games with him because they figure out solutions together, but if Dogday were to chose a game for himself to play it would probably be a rythimn game. It gives him the zoomies.
The other smaller toys all have their own individual preferences, so talking about them is more complicated!
Everyone becomes obsessed with Minecraft when it's released. Catch Catnap pranking everyone on their shared beta server by pretending to be Herobrine.
When Angel gets them an Xbox 360 they have many game nights where they play on the Kinect.
Speaking of which, Angel is down to play literally everything, but all the toys know they aren't very keen on anything horror-related. Not because it's scary, it's just that Angel finds them boring after surviving Playtime Co. They probably have an encyclopedia-level knowledge of pokémon, tho.
Prototype doesn't play videogames, but enjoyes watching the others play. Just don't put ANY war games in front of him and we're all good, otherwise he stops watching.

spicy take time: Ace Attorney 5 is not THAT bad
Dual Destinies: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly -- An Opinionated Review (not spoiler free, hehe)
As I was progressing through the series, I noticed that fans really seemed to dislike Dual Destinies, so as I finished Apollo Justice, I was worried about what I was going to come across and, it wasn't terrible. I've begun to replay some of the game and compile some thoughts.
The Good
Characters
Whether it be the complicated, the quirky, or the downright enjoyable to be around, Dual Destinies has all sorts of new characters to fit this bill. Some of my favorites include:
Athena Cykes -- The newbie lawyer with a loud and colorful personality and a neat little game mechanic involving her being able to hear emotions Simon Blackquill -- The prosecutor on death row who's very… persuasive (why does he get to have a sword?) "Bobby Fulbright" -- The game's eccentric detective. While he's no Dick Gumshoe or Emma Skye, he actually managed to grow on me, making the twist that the final antagonist was disguised as him the entire time all the more impactful to me.
Some other characters that I really enjoyed: Juniper Woods Jinxie Tenma Aura Blackquill Orla Shipley (the orca)
And some of my favorite puns, for fun: Candice Arme Robin Newman Sasha Buckler
The Introductory Case
Case 5-1 is one of my favorite introductory cases after 2-1, AAI2-1, and TGAA1-1. Its twists and turns had me on edge the entire time. I've seen some crazy shit in Ace Attorney -- exorcisms, cross-examining animals, children that are victims of murder attempts -- but a terrorist bombing was not something I would expect, weirdly enough.
I also think it's fascinating how it's the only intro case to span over multiple days and the second to chronologically take place after the main filler cases (after AAI1-1).
And I really like how it ends by leaving these two questions in the back of my mind: "What's wrong with Apollo?" "Who exactly is Athena?"
Prosecutor Blackquill
Out of all of the prosecutors in the series, Blackquill has one of my favorite concepts. The idea of a prosecutor being able to continue his job while awaiting the death sentence for a crime he did not commit, but rather, took the fall for is just soooo… AAAAAAA. I love it. How he also utilizes psychological mind games opposite to Athena's own.
I was originally terrified of Blackquill and his unique "Silence!" callout, but as case 5 progressed, I actually almost cried learning Simon's true colors. How he willingly went to prison to protect a young Athena and Athena's mother, Metis', work, refusing to accept help despite Athena's and Aura, his older sister's, pleas. He was genuinely willing to be executed for the sake of protecting Athena.
Athena and Apollo's relationship, Apollo's Skepticism, and Athena's Trauma
Throughout the course of cases 2 and 3, it was demonstrated how Apollo and Athena grew to trust each other. To me, they gave off sibling energy, which was made even better by the fact that, in Greek mythology, Apollo and Athena are siblings (half-siblings, but siblings nonetheless).
So when Apollo started feeling skeptical towards Athena regarding the whole Clay situation, it kinda hurt, Apollo even willingly wearing a bandage over his eye to prevent himself from perceiving Athena's suspicious ticks. (I love this concept and wish more could have been done it.) And Athena had a past of her own that wasn't helping the situation that she herself wasn't even sure of, traumatized by the idea that she might have killed her own mother.
This is what I would say to be Dual Destinies' strongest feature.
The Phantom
Like I've mentioned before, the twist of "Fulbright" being the final antagonist really got to me. And his whole breakdown with him being in a mad panic, questioning who he really was before getting sniped, has to be one of my favorite breakdowns in the entire series (second to the exorcism)
Turnabout Reclaimed
The concept behind this DLC case is a fascinating one. The defendant being an… uhm… orca and the murder being an accident makes this case really unique.
3D Models
While the models take a bit to get used to, I think, ultimately, they weren't a terrible idea. I love the sprites but there are some things that the models did that the sprites couldn't -- and vice versa. And I believe it was a great gateway into what we got with The Great Ace Attorney and Spirit of Justice.
The Bad
Phoenix's Role
I have problems with Phoenix in this game in general. His model, his voice, but overall, I think the biggest downside about him in this game is his role. How him losing his badge was basically ctrl-z'ed and he's back to basically steal the spotlight. His role in Apollo Justice was great. He was there, but not on the front lines, helping Apollo from the side. I was hoping that, with the introduction of Athena, she'd get help from him like Apollo from Kristoph in his own game or Phoenix from Mia in the first game, rather than being essentially sidelined herself.
Yes. Dual Destinies is a Phoenix Wright game, but with how much focus it gives to Apollo and Athena and their… Dual Destinies… it's a bit frustrating with him in the picture as much as he is.
Turnabout Academy
I don't believe in the "3rd Case Syndrome" that goes around in the fanbase (4-3, 6-3, AAI2-3, and TGAA2-3 were pretty good). However… replaying Dual Destinies, I can't bring myself to replay this case. The concept was okay, but, that's all I can really say. The characters were… eh? I like Junie, Robin, and Mirriam, but Hugh is insufferable and what they did with Klavier was… (I don't wanna be harsh but)… ew. How Robin was treated before revealing she was a girl, was kind of gross (in the initial 2013 release). Overall, it was an… okay case. I don't really have much else to say about this case other than I didn't really enjoy it.
Turnabout Reclaimed
I love the concept, but that's about it. I had a bit of trouble staying awake while playing this one. It felt a little reminiscent of 1-5, which best sums up my feelings about it. The characters were okay and the idea is great, but this case is just… there.
The Ugly
Main Menu
That menu is boring. There's nothing... here. At least previous releases had the gall to put an image in the background, whether it be a courtroom or silhouettes of the main characters. I can't tell if that's supposed to be a bulletin board or a closeup of a basketball, but it's likely neither of those are right.
Voices
I understand replacing the older VA's because of cutscenes and all that, and I'm okay with Apollo's new voice, but when it comes to the other characters with NEW voices, they kind of miss the mark. Apollo and Phoenix sound virtually identical, Klavier sounds… wrong, and I don't think anyone told Edgeworth's VA that he's only 34 because he sounds twice that.
3D Models
When it comes to characters being translated into 3D, that's where the models miss. Apollo's, and Klavier's models are … not the best and Phoenix's is actually disgusting. They got a much-needed update with Spirit of Justice, but they don't compare to the beauty of their sprites.
-----
Overall, I personally think that Dual Destinies is one of the weakest in the series, but it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's different and takes a bit to get used to, but it's fun :)

Summary
This game is everything I hoped it would be. yes it's a Professor Layton crossover, but it also has the charm of DGS x Princess tutu x tunic. The ending was very layton-esque, along with all the reveals. I truly had such an amazing time playing this game. I was initially introduced to this because I heard that DGS was inspired by it, so it was my mission to play both aa and pl's original trilogies before playing. And I am so glad I did bc the wait was so worth it. You can absolutely see the influence this game and professor layton had on Shu Takumi. There's so much passion and creativity between plvspw an dgs that makes playing them all the more enjoyable. I loved how all the main characters interacted with each other, I especially loved how hershel and phoenix swapped assistants. The new characters were also so fun. Espella, Barnham, Darklaw, the story-teller, they were all so unique and enjoyable to interact with. The animation was stellar. This 3D style really works for both PL and AA and im so glad both series took inspiration from it. The music and art was phenomenal, this game honestly should win awards if it hasn't already done so. I also love how any character pulled into an aa game will have their gay moments: phoenix x hershel and espella x eve especially. I can't wait to make art or even write for this game, I will definitely add scenes from this to my ballet au ^^! What a phenomenal game, what a fun premise with the most convoluted layton-esque ending. It was so perfectly I highly recommend!!

hi soljade fucks tell me abt them
YES!
OK, SO! The main idea with SolJade, in my head, is that it works in combination with The MultiShip Of All Time.
That being, this abomination:
Tumblr media
Essentially, Sollux and Jade are moirails who both share two boyfriends (Dave and Karkat) and two girlfriends (Aradia and Feferi).
(meaning the individual pairings are: AraSolFef, AraJadeFef, DaveSolKat, DaveJadeKat, and JadeSol, as far as quadrants I imagine they're all over the place with, outside of JadeSol which is firmly pale)
This is the dynamic of all time to me and it exists purely for my pleasure, and SolJade can be enjoyed outside of this BUT I think important context is needed here for the following explanation:
Now, I know there's more to love than hobbies (or apparently, my maybe-aro ass doesn't know much better) BUT let's look at the hobbies that some of these pairings share. Specifically, hobbies of Sollux's, specifically, video games.
Sollux is, to me, a big mega-cringe Gamer. However, everyone in this pairing isn't necessarily also a big capital G Gamer to me (outside of one exception, oooh foreshadowing it's obvious who, we're literally talking about it).
Dave isn't a gamer, he plays games to break the shit out of them. He runs around on a Minecraft server griefing and building giant dick towers. His sole enjoyment with the one game we know he's played is to find glitches and fuck with it until it's broken.
Karkat isn't a gamer, Karkat will enjoy the occasional casual single-player game but he'd much rather put his time into books or movies.
Aradia and Feferi also aren't gamers, they're both more athletically-inclined people in my mind and engage in different activities/hobbies with both Jade and Sollux.
This leaves Jade, who grew up on a solitary island with only access to the internet for the large majority of her childhood. Jade, is a Gamer.
Sollux and Jade mostly connect over video games. Games that Sollux would've initially put off are things that he and Jade end up connecting over. Jade introduces him to Stardew Valley, and while he thought it was a "game for normies", 300 hours later and he's trying to perfectly optimize his keg house to get the maximum amount of cashback a day. Sollux introduces Jade to some online games and is delightfully surprised at watching her get toxic during a League of Legends game (they both have fun shitting on the other team). They play puzzle games together, both of them incredibly smart and working through mysteries together. Outer Wilds is a game they hugely connect over, and I think they'd have a blast playing something like Ace Attorney.
This is the main draw for me with the pairing. This connection that they'd have over this hobby they don't really share with anyone else. There's also an interesting emotional dynamic when tied together with the giant multiship. The two of them are moirails but also share partners, so they get to discuss all levels of their relationships comfortably with each other and the roles they play in them. It's fun, they're happy to hang out for hours quietly in Animal Crossing, or work on their collective Minecraft server (Sollux is the redstoner, Jade is the builder).
In conclusion: Huge nerds, huge gamers, huge diamonds. <>

I think you’re funny so I follow u despite having never played ace attorney
…but I’m thinkin about dipping a toe in. Can I ask what makes you love it so much? Why do you think it grabbed you
ace attorney is really good but the thing about it is i dont think its necessarily objectively better than a lot of stuff i talk about less frequently. it just really hit for me specifically. like the man the myth the legend mr phoenix wright himself was pretty much laboratory designed to appeal to my sensibilities, especially wrt his relationships with trucy and edgeworth.
what ace attorney has going for it is a lot of very fun and unexpected character writing. in my opinion, ace attorney at its best has a good instinctual feel for what character and narrative tropes are fun and enjoyable vs when to let their characters really do their own thing. it has a distinct narrative voice that, once you spend a lot of time with it, you kind of realize how much long lasting impact it had on video game writing as a whole. i think it's fair to say that the games did a lot of legwork in pioneering visual novels in the west and you can feel its ripples in a ton of different places.
it's comedic voice is also really enjoyable and refreshing even two decades after it dropped, which is cool to see. it's just kind of imo a franchise that's a longstanding and beloved classic for good reason. especially with how it manages to deliver on some more serious plot points and character beats while keeping a shockingly light tone most of the time. it's the kind of thing i think is really worth playing/watching even if its not the kind of thing youd want to do fandom about.

aa5 update while i'm thinking of it:
finished 5-3 turnabout academy the other week and honestly i enjoyed the hell out of that entire case, lol. i thought the npcs were all funny (robin is the MVP), a lot of the reveals were hilarious, i am dual destinies klavier's #1 fan apparently.
Tumblr media
assigned prosecutor at birth
the lore of Law High School was something i'd seen mentioned in fandom sometimes and i always rolled my eyes at how stupid it was but in true ace attorney fashion it was in fact SO stupid it came all the way around to being hilarious. themis pumping out under-educated self-described prodigies who only know how to eat hot chip, forge evidence and lie. funny as hell. junie and apollo's weird oedipal moment right in front of klavier and athena's salads was hysterical.
i love the idea that japanifornia has stricter age limits for being a crane operator than for being a lawyer or a judge. hugh the 25 year old deciding to go to themis instead of ... regular law school.... so he could experience the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of high school mock trials is funny as all hell
Tumblr media Tumblr media
athena's ptsd sprites are pretty haunting looking, i have to say.
have since started 5-4 turnabout cosmos and so far it's not quite as bonkers fun but i'm enjoying it ok. more under the cut:
it feels like we're finally going somewhere and building to something, with athena lore and apollo lore and blackquill lore, etc. i remain ambivalent to simon but i am thrilled to have finally met his hotter meaner gayer sister and i can't wait for more of her. truly what dual destinies has lacked to this point is a mean woman. deliver me, aura.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
unfortunately all the clay-apollo lore is goofy as hell to me, but "goofy" is still more enjoyable than "boring" so i'll take it. the "i'm fine!!!!" thing is IMO a classic example of when a prequel tries to explain something that never needed explaining. it's just not that poignant of a phrase to make the crux of this relationship, and clay never being mentioned before is so mels pond/Jack Black in that one episode of Community-core.
Tumblr media
ah yes, we all remember that classic scene from ace attorney 4: apollo justice where apollo talks to his best friend clay.
finally: this is the funniest thing they could possibly have written to follow up on a game that ended with apollo's long lost mother knowing exactly who he and trucy are ...and fucking off out of the country to sell albums without ever telling him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
why do we bash deadbeat moms for not being there for their kids and never question if the child has bad vibes or is unpleasant to be around
a lot of my earlier complaints about DD stand -- primarily and foremost that it's ridiculous how much this game doesn't want to be a game. we are skipping so many opportunities to investigate, to present, to connect the dots ourselves as a player, even fingerprint minigames and stuff like that just get auto-completed by athena. i like athena as a character, but i have to wonder if part of the "mary sue" criticism i've sometimes seen is just misguided frustration about how much she autonomously solves puzzles for the player instead of letting the player participate lol.
but considering how much i really thought 5-2 monstrous turnabout was just. like. absolutely brutal. a devastating low point for the franchise ... at least 5-3 and, to this point, 5-4 are more interesting. thank god

✨Fanfiction Friday✨
Hello, all you lovely readers and writers alike!✨🌈✨
Happy Friday! It’s time to highlight some wonderful authors and fanfiction of AO3 💫
I can smile at the old days—by @zackprincebooks aka @esteemedbastard
A case of a god falling from the heavens and getting adopted by Jin, this story follows the tale of Xiè Lián in an isekai-type tale.
This author is highly talented in writing, made some incredibly detailed fics, has a wonderful grasp on prose writing, and fantastically showcases what healthy polyamory looks like. I highly recommend giving this a read (as well as the Explicit ones, if that’s your jam…like me ✨)
Night Terror by @the-bar-sinister
For the video game enjoyers, especially on the Ace Attorney side, this is a beautiful short read. Detailing hurt and comfort in a way that is relatable, the author is able to capture the fluffiness in just a few words.
Hostile Takeover by @snugglesquiggle
Enemies to lovers? Check. Slow burn? Check! Novel length? Check, check, CHECK IT OUT! Step into the sci-fi world with this tale, following J and her worker drone assistants. I know a few of my mutuals who love futuristic sci-fi, and speaking of…
Breathtaker by @autism-purgatory
Another banger by FlopEraFics, this Call of Duty fic features one of MY favorite characters (as well as others), Ghost. The fic follows Soap on an expedition to Alaska, where the author beautifully details the scene to the crashing of the helicopter, to the frigid white cold of the landscape, down to the playful bantering in Soap’s squadron. Be sure to check out his works!
(He also makes original stories that are fantastic reads. Check them out!)
Tuesday event or is it by @wyked-ao3
If you’re a Supernatural fan, you’re gonna love this one. Sam Winchester and Gabriel are caught in a time loop, and need to figure out how to get back to normal. Some wacky and fun hijinx in this tale, including a candy shop/bakery AU they go to. This fic puts the “fun” in “dysfunctional” (as told by the author’s sister). Give it a look!
Speaking of Supernatural…
The One with the Double Date by @piscesapplelady35
An amazing dialogue writer, this author writes the quips between Dean and Cas so hilariously that my ribs hurt from laughing so much. Seriously, go see for yourself just how genius the dialogue is! It makes the characters so relatable, and the banter that much more believable.
There are obviously so many more creative and amazing authors out there, so I implore you to go out and see them for yourself! ✨

It’s funny because I generally really don’t think spoilers are an issue. I don’t care. If they ruin your enjoyment of something completely I think it probably just wasn’t very good to start.
The one main exception is mystery stories, because trying to figure the mystery out and being surprised or thrilled you got something right is part of the fun! But then I also think a good mystery STORY should be good enough to revisit and pick out all the clues.
Like I’ve said before that the twist from The Good Place is what got me to watch the show (at least season 1 and some other bits and pieces). Or take something like the Layton games, which are sometimes billed as mysteries but aren’t really. We’re just here for the puzzles, atmosphere and kooky characters.
Something like The Great Ace Attorney though I think is better experienced blind. Not horribly worried about people seeing spoilers it’s just better if you don’t know what’s going on the first playthrough.
And Ghost Trick is so twisty and has a plot that runs a million miles an hour and I really think for the full experience should be played through blind the first time. Though I do love replaying it!

Dai Gyakuten Saiban / The Great Ace Attorney Takarazuka musical notes/review!
As a Sherlock Holmes, DGS and Takarazuka musical enthusiast, this post has been my CALLING. Please prepare for massive info dumping as we dive into this wonderful and amazing musical!! (I cannot stop thinking about it 😊)
Firstly, the cast, costumes and staging are wonderful! Mainly, I was just really excited to see one of my favourite found families on stage haha (most of this post is just going to be me saying how amazing it was). In particular I loved Holmes and Soseki-- but it's so hard to say something like that when I loved everyone in the cast.
Tumblr media
Chiaki Takato's performance in particular, however-- they clearly wanted Holmes to be the star and she absolutely SERVED. I LOVED getting to see Holmes be free and wild and chaotic on the stage as he was meant to!! While this is conveyed well in the games, it just comes out so much stronger on a stage. An extra layer of this that I love, is the fact that ACD Holmes and DGS Holmes both love to show off and have theatre-kid vibes, so it just feels so fitting for DGS Holmes to be in a musical. Takato also did an amazing job replicating the poses/images from the games, which is something I also appreciate that the entire cast does (such as Susato's cheering pose and Soseki's crying pose).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The the songs are super memorable, in particular I loved the Asouryuu one (sorry, I don't have the names for all of them yet), the one Holmes sings in jail, as well as the one in Act 2 that included the whole cast (with Ryuunosuke and Susato singing together). Another touch I loved, was how Asougi and Iris's songs were based off their themes from the games!
Some little touches I liked? I enjoy how Susato copies some of Holmes's poses, which she doesn't do in the games. She is supposed to be a yamato nadeshiko, or the perfect Japanese woman, so that she never really goes outside of this ideal. But she clearly has the capacity to be silly and has 'imperfections', such as her proprensity to throw people around and her fangirling over Holmes-- I love that this was taken a little further in Takarazuka's interpretation. ^_^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Small, but I liked that Iris's mug in Act 2 had some official DGS art on it.
Tumblr media
I also enjoyed the references to the Sherlock Holmes canon! Before Holmes's second musical number, he says "Hunger makes me think faster!" (reference to how Holmes believes digestion takes blood away from his brain). Additionally, he replaces his cell with a wax dummy of himself, a reference to The Empty House (or Mazarin Stone). I believe neither of these were mentioned in the games, which means Takarazuka really did their homework on the original canon to bring in those lines. Although, I'm also not surprised, as they have already done a Sherlock Holmes musical before.
Also loved to see the random Maya character-- probably an ancestor of hers haha
Tumblr media
I wasn't a huge fan of the RyuuSusa agenda they had going on, and reminded me too much of Leona from the first Takarazuka musical (more on that later). It felt too much like they forced a romantic element because it's popular with viewers. Not to mention, Susato is 16 and Ryuunosuke is 23. Overall though, it wasn't too bad, and the AsouRyuu segments were equally gay and enjoyable to watch, haha.
Tumblr media
My favourite aspect! I adored that they included Yomigaeru Shinjitsu, the main theme of their first Ace Attorney musical in 2009! I wasn't expecting to see it, as DGS is a spin-off, but I tell you I was so excited to belt the words to that one again. Additionally I LOVED the reprisals, how they mixed in Yomigaeru Shinjitsu with the AsouRyuu song, and Ryuunosuke copying Phoenix's "FUH!" right at the end 🥰-- Gave me goosebumps. I made an edit of it, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, yeah! I think that's about it. Thanks for reading my ramblings ❤

Out of curiosity, what other fandoms are you in, what genres of shows do you like and can I theoretically interest you in another pathetic one-sided wet cat energy ship?
been wondering if I should just redirect to my main or actually list as many fandoms I can off the top of my head. it's um. it's a lot.
ace attorney (all games including aai duology, the layton crossover and tgaa duology), my little pony, my hero academia, assassination classroom, the disastrous life of saiki k, toilet-bound hanako-kun, spy x family (anime only), buddy daddies, little witch academia, mob psycho 100, I'm in love with the villainess, omori, undertale/deltarune, homestuck, danganronpa, master detective archives: rain code, ghost trick, atla/tlok, phineas and ferb, steven universe, gravity falls, ducktales (2017), amphibia, the owl house, infinity train, young justice, some general dc comics/animated movies (I've read a chunk of flash and green lantern comics from the new earth continuity), she ra (2018), nimona, the ghost and molly mcgee, I've... watched a bit of miraculous ladybug but not every episode (a bit of a mess of a show but has its enjoyable parts LMAO), welcome to night vale, the amazing digital circus ig?? there's only 2 episodes out what does that count for, and probably more I missed out idk
idk if I have a specific genre I like, I'm not typically into live action, but I am curious what you're referring to
I don't really post as much on my main but you can check it out if you want @pinklovely05 but I think I covered just about everything I listed there

i'm having an absolutely fantastic time playing dual destinies and maybe it's because i'm an easy to please loser who will eat up absolutely anything ace attorney but. i'm currently nearing the end of turnabout academy and i'm having such a fun experience? simon is a super entertaining prosecutor who's quickly shot up in my overall character rankings, athena is already one of my ultimate favourites, i LOVE the academy trio so much i CRIED at the friendship band cutscene and it's just been a really great case to play through, and whilst there's a clear departure from the vibe set in aj (which is one of my fave games in the series) i'm still majorly enjoying the game
also i definitely think there's something interesting in how i've been spoiled for most of the culprits in these games and yet that has never once spoiled my enjoyment. i knew going into it the culprit of 5-3 and yet it is SUCH a thrill piecing together all the points to create the full picture of the crime i keep getting SO EXCITED everytime i notice something. plus all the twists in this one??? i think maybe i'm just weak for friendship but the themis trio have truly done something to my brain chemistry
