Their relationship is so complicated, and it get a MILLION TIMES WORSE in the final episode, and their chemistry is so fascinating, and the tension inherent to their positions in this narrative is so thick I want to BITE it with my TEETH. I am only halfway through season one, but i KNOW where their story is going and it's KILLING MEEEE.

Oh yeah also the show I'm talking about is shaggy and Scooby Doo get a clue. I decided to watch it after the Velma show ended up being. Y'know. Bad. I kind of went into this idea of "man. I wonder how bad the previous 'worst' Scooby Doo spin off compares to this, because like. Surely it's not anywhere near this atrocious? I wonder if there might be something there worth looking into." So first i did some background research (spoiling the entire plot in the process, because everyone kind of assumes you've already seen it or don't care), and then it was off to the races! And uhh. Also; people who claim this to be "bury your gays" is absolutely hilarious.

You could've closed your eyes, pointed at any character of the show to die, and you could've argued about it being "bury your gays". It's the gay pirate show. They're all gay. No one is safe.

But also, Izzy didn't die a "tragic, unhappy death". He passed away, surrounded by his found family and in the arms of Edward. Not Blackbeard but Edward. Eddie. His arc came to a satisfying end, and that's pretty much the opposite of the good ol' original "Bury Your Gays" trope.

Can we instead of focusing on negative things just applaud Con O'Neill on his magnificent fucking performance as Izzy Hands? He acted his literal tits off in this role. The emotion and frustration, but also the happiness and the silliness. Con you're an absolute mad lad and watching you on my screen has given me many many happy stims <3 I love you.

sometimes I think people think "narrative parallels" means "exactly the same" and like...that's not the point, actually, the point with narrative parallels is that they're variations on a theme that are meant to illuminate something about each variation. a narrative parallel that is just a precise reiteration of another thing isn't saying anything. it's just redundant.

Jazz wasn't crazy. People might argue that burning her childhood home to the ground with her parents still inside would be an indicator of insanity. But how else was she supposed to react after coming back home from college to find out her parents had brutally killed her brother via vivisection?

Dying her hair blonde wasn't crazy either before anyone asked. Plenty of girls dyed their hair when they needed a change. Besides, she could never live with herself if she kept the same hair color as that vile woman.

Admittedly Jazz would have to secede moving to Gotham had been a little crazy but it was the perfect place to start fresh and blend in despite her "quirks". She had even picked out a nice new identity for herself.

Clearly Jazz was not crazy as she had managed to land a job at Arkham Asylum as a psychiatrist. If she were really insane would they have ever hired her? No they wouldn't have.

tbh I don’t really love the “eddie is a violent bad boy” type head cannon because as far as I could tell he welcomed misfits, was essentially avoiding conflict/danger as much as possible until he decided to sacrifice himself (😡) and was just generally kind and seemingly riddled with anxiety due to the horrific events he was witnessing?
