man i beat PSMD in one sitting as soon as i got it i need to replay it someday i rushed 2 much smh... enjoy urself
Thanks!! Ohhh I can relate to that, once I found and booted up my 3DS not so long ago, I played literally all my free time through the remaining story, because it was so amazing and had so many twists I honestly couldnt foresee. It’s kind of shame that I barely rememeber the beginning…. but my memories of it are very fond too. I feel like replaying it eventually would still be a great experinece, even if we sort of know major plot points already. I hope you enjoy your time with it!!
Im slowly going through the post-credit part rn, I really love how much stuff one can explore and how many playable pokemon are there. I am, actually, a big fan of Sunkern!!! And I recently got it on my orb?? I’m so excited for when I’ll be able to connect with it.
Tumblr media
I’m… I think It’s just a really good game. Big Thanks, Nintendo.

Party
At family gatherings, are you more likely to hang out with the younger or older relatives? The ones my age, I guess lol Have you ever had the power go out while you were in the bathroom at nighttime? That happened to me when I worked at Babies R Us like 20 years ago, and I screamed real loud lol Do you agree that "nice guys finish last"? No, also "nice guys" can fuck off. Considering you current health, how long do you think you will live? I have no idea. Do you have anything in your room that would be 'weird' to others? Probably. What TV commercial are you sick of seeing? I don't see commercials, really. I use streaming sites. When was the last time someone complimented you on your hair? Yesterday. What would you think if you found out your mom/dad had another kid with someone else and didn't tell you? I'd be confused, worried, curious. Do you usually catch a cold during the winter? Sure. Have you ever done geocaching? No. Are you a good multi-tasker? I can be. What was the last game you won? Rummy. Do you know any deaf people? If so, is it easy or difficult to have conversations with them? Yes. It's difficult, but we make it work. When you hear the name Rory, do you think of a boy or a girl? Girl. What makes your favourite TV show unique? Idk. What are you currently wearing? Black cami, black joggers. Do you enjoy playing Monopoly? Why or why not? I depends on my mood. Is there a doorknocker on your front door? No. What was behind your last status update? (Facebook or Twitter, etc.) It was a share of a Tumblr post about someone's dog acting like a sheep herder to a Roomba. Do 'laugh tracks' on TV shows annoy you? Sometimes. How many times in your life have you seen a dead bird, approximately? Uh, a couple? Do you think dreadlocks are awesome or gross? Awesome. Can you correctly define an anemone? Yes. Have you ever been to www.videojug.com? No. Would you rather live out of a van for a year or share a house with three other families? How big is the house? Do you know anyone named Jesus? No. How many parents under 25 do you know? ...Zero? What colour was the last piece of gum you ate? Idr. Where do you get blisters the most? My feet, I guess. Do you always use conditioner when you wash your hair? Yes. What is an interesting fact about your state/province? When we joined the Union, we kept our right to secede from the nation and establish ourselves as our own country. Not that we ever would, but hey. How old are the headphones you are currently using? I'm not. Were you ever into Pokémon? I like Pokemon Go when it first came out, but then it got cold lol Have you ever been to a high school football game? If so, was it in warm or cold weather? I went to one. It was warm. Do your parents tell you what kind of people you can and can't date? I'm 32. What kind of laundry detergent do you use? Arm & Hammer Is there a topic about which you know everything (or, at least, a WHOLE lot)? Sure. If you were playing a sport and you got to pick your number, which one would you choose? 87. What stereotypes do you associate with certain names? Idk. Do you think there are certain situations in which it is better to lie than to tell the truth? Sure. What's the worst thing you've ever done to another person? I have no idea. Do people often mistake you for other ethnicities? If so, what do you usually get? I get different Hispanic ethnicities all the time, depending on where I am. Mexican mostly, as I live in Texas. Have you ever been on 4chan? What is your opinion of it? Nah, fuck that. Has anyone famous ever attended your school? Who? Dimebag Darrell from Pantera. Do you think it is ever appropriate to use more than one exclamation point?!!!! Sometimes. Have you ever had to attend an event that occurred on your birthday? I'm so sure. Have you ever felt superior to another person because of an opinion you had that differed from theirs? Yes. How many friends do you have on Facebook? 360 apparently. How would you feel about your SO watching pornography? I don't give a flying fuck. Have you ever met up in person with anybody that you met online? Yes. If you were in a relationship, how would you prefer to be broken up with? Quickly and respectfully. Who was your best boyfriend/girlfriend? Justin What do you think makes a girl a slut? Do you believe that label is thrown around far more often than it should be? And finally, do you think it's unfair that mostly only women receive that label? Fuck all that shit.

// I am going to try and keep this short but I will FAIL.
Edit: Massive fail lmao.
So this year has been... A roller-coaster for me IRL. Ups and downs but mainly ups.
First, to note, I’ve been suffering from “clinical depression” and an amalgamation of other issues since 2003 and by this point in my life I know how to cope with it so when it hit me throughout the year at various points I knew what to do - Just sleep it off and wait it out. That would be some down points of the year and after several years debating something that nagged at me and inevitably made me even more depressed I decided I finally had to change my entire life, which brings in the next point.
I told mum something I really had to tell her after years of debating with myself (you can ask in DMs if you’re curious but I’d rather not splay it everywhere) and it’s made things so hard for me and her but also made things so much easier for myself in a way as I can finally be myself. She’s struggling with it but supports me nonetheless albeit it being so difficult for her and for that I’m so damn grateful. She is truly an amazing mum.
I started going to the gym to try and change my life with this new acceptance of myself but of course, with my bad luck in life, I badly screwed up my elbow and had to stop so that put everything on hold. Now I’m waiting, since May, for surgery to fix it. Then once that is sorted I can go back to the gym and continue trying to change my life for the better to become who I really am.
Out shopping just after March when I told mum ‘The Thing’ I bumped into a person in a shop who saw my LGBT wristband and invited me to start going to a social group in a nearby town. Best. Thing. Ever. Not only has this gotten me out of my shell but gained me a whole social life of which I’ve not had one since 2009 due to IRL issues (depression, anxiety, friends moving away, bad experiences etc). So that was amazing to just happen to me. I’ve been going every two weeks to this social group, made IRL friends from it, been to events, social nights in places, Pride fests, even stayed in a nearby city with the person who saw my wristband and we went to comic con and for the first time could be who I really am. I’m building relations and damn, I’m happy about that. Ten years with nothing was fine but to finally be out and about is so much better.
Five or so years ago I came to Tumblr while seeking out images of Pokemon related things and found out it has this RP community. It was only nearing the end of last year that I made Jax (October) and fully got immersed here.
I have no regrets about that.
I’ve made so many friends of you all and I’m so damn happy to have met so many you. Some of you have become really close to my heart. I adore you all. I’ve only had one bump in the road as someone vague-posting about me but other than that it’s been PERFECT and I cannot thank you all enough.
My anxiety has been bugging me this year too and it centers around this community but I am in no way complaining. Long story short is that since 2010 I’ve been a WoW player on a certain server. I was a newbie to that type of RP and made so many mistakes that I got heavily noticed and eventually ridiculed. It got to the point where I’ve been heavily harassed, stalked and even doxxed to the point I couldn’t post on the forums without my IRL info being splayed out for all to see. So you can understand that coming to a brand new community was very difficult for me and every single day, even today, I worry that things will get messed up again somehow and people will once more hate me.
But you know what? I love this place so much that the enjoyment overrides my anxiety most of the time.
I joined a server towards the end of last year but eventually left it from drama and yet gained friends from it either way. I was able to reconnect with a few people from my old blog and make new friends and for that I’m thankful.
Without all of you I’d be so bored, alone and wouldn’t have been able to develop Jax at all. It’s been very amazing this year on this site and yes, I’m just happy to be here with you all.
So here’s to another year! May we all continue our great relationships, get some awesome RP going and of course meet even more new people! I hope this year brings you all joy and everything you deserve.

Pecha Berries
A Pokemon Shield Nuzlocke Story.
Chapter 3 - The Gym Challenge
[Team Roster: Jackson (Scorbunny), Bella (Yamper), Lacey (Wooloo)]
It was their third day in the Wild Area. Dolly’s chest heaved as she pried off her boots and inhaled sharply as she peeled off her socks. Laying them out in front of her with a grimace, she slowly wiggled her toes.
They were swollen, with blotches of red pocking where her shoes were too tight. The skin around her blisters were peeling up, just a bit paler than the fresh skin around it. Her legs ached, and her shoulders had a simultaneous dull and sharp shooting where her backpack straps sat. She let out a groan and flopped back onto the grass.
“This is rubbish,” she grumbled. “Hop better be grateful that I’m doing this for him,”
“That’s what you get for always sitting on the couch,” Jackson stated, raising his eyebrows.
“What do you know, we only met a week ago,” she huffed from her spot on the ground.
Her view of the sunset sky was interrupted by a Scorbunny face.
“Am I wrong? You have like, zero muscle.”
Dolly looked to the side, avoiding eye contact with the Pokémon in front of her. She grumbled as she lifted herself back up to a sitting position, gazing at the camp before her as Jackson trotted off smugly. She lifted her arm and tried to flex. Maybe if she pushed some skin up on her upper arm it could look like a bicep? Whatever. He was just a foot-tall bunny with toothpick arms too, what did he know.
Her team darted about, filled with an unimaginable amount of energy compared to how she was feeling. She leaned back on her elbows as she watched them play. There were only two new team members, a Bunnelby and a Grubbin, who seemed to be getting along fine with the rest of her Pokémon. One more team member and that would be six - couldn’t get too attached to too many, just in case.
It had been a while since Dolly interacted with so many Pokémon at once, and she wasn’t quite sure how to do it. Should she treat them like a classroom of students? As a group of friends? Or something more dramatic, like a team of seasoned warriors or something?
They all cheered as Lacey headbutted Jackson into a tree stump. She scratched the seasoned warriors idea out pretty quickly.
Her stomach tightened as dusk crept over the Wild Area. This night was exactly like the one so many years ago: cool, a slight breeze, the grass already dewing over in the spots the sun hadn’t hit for a while. It had the type of air that sticks to the lungs a bit, then chills and makes nose hair prickle. The kind where her feet ached, dirty and grass-stained, but it was okay because she could wash them up quick before supper - but only when mum flashed the back porch light a couple times. It was after a day of adventuring, of training, and plenty of laughter. Of just her and her Pokémon. Just one, at that time, though.
Her Pokémon and her used to dart around the forest with the flower crowns they made together, giggling as they pricked their fingers on burrs and thorns as they reached for the Pecha berries in the bushes behind her old house. She could remember how she smiled, what her laugh sounded like. Her heart clenched in her chest at the thought. That was before…
Dolly fiercely shook her head, almost whipping her glasses off her face. She shook it again for good measure, as if to shake the memories out altogether.
That was a different time, a different life. That was before she moved to Postwick. Perhaps it won’t happen like that this time, she faintly hoped. She let out another deflated sigh as the sun finally sank beneath the horizon. Perhaps things will be different this time.
“Alright, team,” she called, forcing herself up off the ground, wincing as little pebbles dug into her raw feet. “Who wants some grub?”
They all circled around her gleefully with cries of ‘Me! Me!’ and an excited buzz from Sap, her new Grubbin.
After a quick batch of curry, they settled in for the night. They all snuggled up against one another as Dolly unfurled her tent like a blanket over all of them. After an unfortunate escapade filled with plenty of frustrated grunts, an accidental fireball, tears in the fabric, and an apologetic Yamper, their first night in the Wild Area set the stage for the rest of their nights in the Wild Area: all sleeping together to keep warm under their dilapidated tent shreds. At least it wasn’t raining this time.
It took eight hours, Jackson leading morning calisthenics, breakfast porridge, and they were on the road again.
“Miss Dolly, are we almost there?” Lacey asked, trotting along beside her. “I don’t mean to complain none, but some of the folks on the team are getting real tired of traipsin’ through these fields,”
Dolly reached down and gave her Wooloo a pat on the head.
“I’m sure we’re getting close, Lacey,” she said. “Motostoke’s getting bigger by the day. I suspect we’ll be there by lunch time.”
It was true. The city that was just a speck at the Wild Area train station was now a looming industrial giant.
“I don’t mind travellin’ so much anymore, though, Miss Dolly,” Lacey said, looking down sheepishly and brushing against Dolly’s leg. “At first, I was real scared, but now it’s not so bad. I like havin’ everyone on the team, they’re all real friendly. An’ you’re a real good Trainer,”
Warmth spread throughout her chest and Dolly bit her smile back. Maybe keeping two would be fine.
As they traveled closer, Motostoke seemed to loom taller and taller, and yet the path winding there looked longer and longer. They encountered an array of wild Pokémon, built up a few levels, and finally made their way up the steps of Motostoke.
Dolly’s legs wobbled as she took in a breath. The city was magnanimous. Bricks, vendors, and Pokémon lined every inch of the streets and smoke billowed out of the skyscraper-like pipes that rose in the air. Windows sparkled in the sun, casting an orange glow on the city.
She had a crick in her neck, but she didn’t care as she arched her head to see the tops of the buildings. The river gushed beneath the bridge, coursing through the city just as the residents above did. Dolly stopped at the end of the bridge, taking in the rest of the site before her. People and Pokémon bustled to and fro, stepping around the wide-eyed Trainer standing in the middle of the street. She had never seen buildings so tall, not even before she moved to Postwick. The city seemed to buzz with music, as Pokémon sang with their Trainers on the corners, and shopkeepers shouted their deals from their welcome mats. Dolly grinned as the magnanimity of the city soaked into her skin.
“Hey, Dolly, you finally made it!” a voice called.
Dolly waved a greeting as a tall red head sauntered up to her. Sonia stopped and twirled her hair with a grin.
“Real ace of you to make it through the Wild Area! Seems like your trek ran you ragged, though,” she added with a pitiful glance to Dolly’s haphazard appearance.
Dolly looked through her smudged glasses to the rips in her dress, the mud on her shoes, and the dirt under her nails. Yikes.
Sonia offered her a pity laugh and set her hands on her hips.
“Alright, here’s the deal. It’s barely the afternoon, and something about the way your mouth’s been hanging open this whole time tells me you’ve never been to a city like this, and Sonia’s here to show you around. Let’s pick up some new clothes for you, I’ve got a friend at a salon down the road that can fix up your hair, and then I’ll treat you to lunch, sound good?”
“If Sonia’s buying lunch, count me in!” another voice called. Hop jogged up to meet them, grinning. His eyes widened when he took in Dolly’s haphazard appearance and he took in a quick breath through his teeth. “Yeesh, Dolls, did you crawl all the way here?”
Dolly was about to retort but Sonia interrupted.
“Dolly and I are actually about to go shopping and get our hair done, if you’d like to join that?” she asked, setting a hand on her hip. “If not then buzz off.”
“Buzzing off,” Hop said with a salute. “I’ll catch you guys later then.”
Sonia and Dolly laughed at the grimace on Hop’s face and they headed toward lunch first (per the request of Dolly’s grumbling stomach), then the boutiques together. She tossed out her old pink dress in favor of non-disgusting, inconspicuous, normal leggings and shirt. Sonia kept trying to get Dolly to buy lots of frills, lots of patterns, and lots of blindingly-bright neon that made Dolly's skin look like washed-out paper. After a little back and forth, Sonia did persuade her to buy a skirt to go over her leggings and some peach-colored glasses, just to liven up her look at least a little bit.
“Thanks for all of this, Sonia, but you really don’t need to spend all this money on me,” Dolly said, feeling along the fringe of her new black skirt. “I feel a little guilty,”
Sonia waved her off, grinning and twirling her hair again.
“Oh, come off it. I’ve always wanted a little sister to spoil, and you looked so bedraggled coming up those steps to Motostoke. Gran gave me some pocket change, and it’s the least I could do for my best mate’s little brother’s best mate.”
It took her a second to do the mental math as Sonia laughed again.
“Speaking of those two, though,” Sonia continued as they made their way toward the salon. “Leon said you can talk to Pokémon, is that true?”
“Um, yeah. Sometimes it’s nice, sometimes it’s annoying,” she shrugged. She really wouldn’t mind not hearing those two Sqwovets screaming at each other every time she sat in her living room.
“Fascinating,” Sonia replied, looking into the sky. “Do you know why? Like, did you learn it somehow?”
Dolly shrugged, watching two kids kick around a ball with a Pikachu.
“I dunno, I’ve been able to for as long as I can remember.”
“Are there other odd things that happen with you and Pokémon?” Sonia asked.
A bell tinkled as they walked into the salon. Dolly shrugged again as the beautician took her bag and jacket. Why was everyone pushing this today? When Hop found out she could talk to Pokémon he just said ‘wicked,’ asked if his Wooloo thought he was cool, and they moved on with their lives.
Sonia squinted her eyes.
“Have you lived around Pokémon much?”
“Just as much as any other person.”
The beautician guided the pair further into the building.
“Are you good at learning new languages?”
“Not really, sometimes I feel barely fluent in the one I do know.”
“What about social cues, body language, things like that?”
“Hardly.”
“You wouldn’t happen to have the Nuzlocke Curse, would you?”
Dolly’s jaw dropped and her eyes went wide.
“How did you..?”
Sonia nodded, a slight smile appearing on her face.
“Lucky guess. I read about it in a book recently. It was about communicating well with Pokémon, and it listed that as an exceedingly rare condition - so rare that it’s only been speculated about in theory. I’ve never heard about a real human being able to speak to Pokémon, so I’ve been dying to ask you ever since Leon told me. Can you tell me about it?”
Sonia seemed pretty normal, pretty nice, and genuinely interested in Dolly. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to let her know a little bit…Just the basics.
“I’ve never met anyone to know about it besides me and my mum... But I’ve known I’ve had it for a couple years, now. Not sure if I was born with it or if it came along later,” Dolly said as the beautician leaned her back in the basin.
“Girl, I’ve never seen so many sticks in a client’s hair,” the beautician grimaced to herself as she picked out remnants of the Wild Area.
“When did you start noticing signs?”
“I think I was about seven or eight,” Dolly continued as Sonia looked on inquisitively, a hand on her chin.
“That same book guessed Trainers could only catch a limited amount of Pokémon, is that true too?” Sonia asked as she spun in the chair beside her. “The authors predicted it’s something about the blood of the Trainer, counteracts something in the technology of the Poké Ball, interacts with the language part of the brain or something. But again, it’s all just speculation.”
Dolly pursed her lips at the concept. After she caught her first Pokémon, she tried a billion times to catch others around her house, only for the Poké Balls to break.
“That might explain why I always feel so tingly, too,” Dolly whispered, looking at her hands.
“Tingly?” Sonia repeated, raising an eyebrow.
“You know how you feel when a body part falls asleep, and just starts to wake up? It’s like a bunch of Beedrill stinging at numb skin. It doesn’t hurt, it’s just really uncomfortable, so I don’t try too many extra times anymore,” Dolly said, her voice tapering off as the beautician shampooed through her hair. “It does really hurt, sometimes, but that’s just when...um…never mind…”
When what? They died? Sonia was nice enough, but Dolly didn’t really want to delve into that bit or her backstory with a woman she met a week ago. Sonia seemed to know at least two things about the Curse, but Dolly was hoping that was the limit. She couldn’t decide if she wanted those authors to have written more information for her own sake, or less so she’d get fewer questions from Sonia.
After the beautician brought her to the chair and Dolly picked out a new hairstyle, she explained to Sonia a bit more.
“I’ve never met anyone else with something like this, so it’s kind of hard to measure,” she said with a shrug.
“It sounds interesting,” Sonia said, twirling her hair. “Gran’s got me on this historical project right now, and that’s all the book mentioned anyway. I haven’t been able to find any other reliable sources, but if I find out anything else about the Nuzlocke Curse, I’ll let you know.”
“Alright, honey, take a look.”
Dolly grinned at her fresh, new appearance, thanked the beautician, tipped her significantly, and she and Sonia stepped back out into the setting sun of Motostoke. As they walked down the brick streets, Dolly tugged at her new hairstyle. She had never gotten her hair longer before, so she wasn’t quite used to how it sat. She fiddled with it and the shopping bags she was holding when then they spotted Hop and Wooloo walking down the main street.
“Hey girls, finally done with all your doll houses and pillow figh-” Hop stopped mid-sentence, his jaw still hanging open.
“What?” Dolly asked, looking behind her.
His eyebrows pulled together and he blinked a few times.
“You look...different.”
Dolly raised an eyebrow.
“Astute observation. Apparently Fairy-type Pokémon can make your hair longer in minutes. It felt pretty weird. My mum’s always cut my hair and I’ve never had it done before, much less gotten it so much longer in one sitting. Keeps getting caught in my bag straps, though,” Dolly added with a grumble, hiking her backpack up again.
She picked at the ends of a few platinum strands that laid over her shoulders. Hop's gaze flitted to her face and lingered just another second. She noticed his jaw clench as he swallowed.
“Huh.”
She wasn’t quite sure why, but Dolly was also glad the beautician persuaded her into letting her test some new mascara on her. After another beat Hop flung his arms behind his head.
“Pokémon are ace, don’t you think Dolls? ‘Cept giving a Feebas long hair still makes it a Feebas,” he ended with a grin.
“I oughta smack that stupid smirk right off your face,” Dolly growled. “I’m sure this Wishing Star can add some extra damage.”
“Sorry Dolls, as much as I’d love to stay around for that, I’ve got a date with a Gym Challenge registration sheet! I’ll save you a spot!”
And with that he was off, sprinting through the streets of downtown Motostoke.
“...Twit.”
“Happy to see you two embrace a healthy rivalry,” Sonia sighed from beside her. “To be fair though, I’ve never heard Hop pay attention to anything that wasn’t a Pokémon or his famous brother. Pretty impressive he noticed a change in you,”
“Come off it, Sonia,” Dolly grumbled. “The bloke called me an ugly fish.”
“Can’t deny that one, mate," Sonia chuckled. "Anyway, you ready for the opening ceremony? How is your Pokédex coming along?”
“I’ve caught a couple Pokémon...they’re a pretty lively bunch.” She flinched at the memory of her mangled tent and their weird game of seeing who can headbutt Jackson the farthest.
“Now that you’ve freshened up a bit, why don’t you head up to check in at Motostoke Stadium? It’s right up the road,” Sonia said, motioning to the monumental stadium at the end of the path. “Just follow the purple head sprinting down the road and you’ll get there in a flash.”
Dolly left Sonia with a wave and a thanks, then set off for the stadium. She was surprised to run into Leon, who directed her up the lift and to the front doors. Although he was eloquent and charming as always, she successfully managed out a grunt of gratitude like the Conkledurr she was.
“Took you long enough,” Hop grinned. “Coulda got a manicure myself with how long I had to wait here,”
“You could have gone in, you know,” Dolly said, rolling her eyes.
“I couldn’t have you miss this part of my legend! What kind of mate would I be?”
Dolly rolled her eyes again as the pair pushed through the grand glass doors to Motostoke Stadium. Their jaws dropped in unison.
“Would you look at this,” Hop breathed. “This place is packed with Gym Challengers! Every one of these folks is another rival!”
The brick walls arched to the ceiling, which to Dolly, seemed like a thousand stories high. The grand entryway was draped with bold banners advertising the Challenge and Dolly couldn’t help but breathe out in wonder. Bold colors and banners and smiling faces adorned the atrium, and Dolly arched her neck to see through the domed-glass ceiling.
She looked around her in awe as she and Hop made their way through the crowd. The magnificent atrium was filled with Gym Challengers of every shape and size. There were all types of people surrounding them; some their age, some older adults, and even some who could have been old enough to be her grandparents. There were Pokémon fluttering around as well, weaving in between the legs of the hopeful Trainers. A Blipbug here, a Butterfree there, and Dolly almost lost her footing when a Morpeko scampered between her legs.
A girl about her age grabbed him up off the ground. She dusted off her dress and tossed one of her dark pigtails out of her face as she stood up, the Morpeko secure in her arms.
“Sorry ‘bout that,” the girl said. “He gets real excited ‘round so many people, but you’re looking a bit gobsmacked by all this. You must be from some small country town, is that it?”
She nodded. This girl had a soft and unassuming smile - Dolly liked this fellow Gym Challenger already.
“Yeah, from Postwick.”
“I’m quite the same myself, I'm from a small town off Route 9. What’s your name?” the girl asked, patting her Morpeko.
“Dolls, come on, we still need to register!” Hop called from the desk.
“Dolls, huh? That’s an odd name,” the girl said with a smile. She held out her hand. “I’m Marnie.”
“It’s Dolly, actually, short for Dolores. He just calls me that, but his name is Hop, so mine’s not so bad in comparison,” Dolly said, shaking her hand.
“I look forward to battling you, Dolly. And beating you,” she added with a soft grin.
She could feel the buzz of friendly competition in the air between them. She couldn’t help but grin as well.
“We'll see about that, Marnie,”
Dolly jogged up to the front desk where Hop was waiting in line to register.
The boy in front of Hop turned after finishing his registration, looked him up and down, then shoved past his shoulder. Hop let out a grunt and Dolly scoffed as he sauntered out into the crowd.
“Seriously? What a piece of work…” Hop grumbled, rubbing his shoulder.
The League staff at the counter called for the next in line, and Dolly handed over her endorsement from Leon. She could see the staff member’s eyes grow wide through his sunglasses.
“Fancy that,” he whispered. “This is the first time we’ve had a Challenger endorsed by the Champion!”
Hop grinned in return, slapping his endorsement on the counter next to Dolly’s.
“Well, now you’ve had two, because I am as well!”
“The two of you must be something special,” the staff member said with a nod to the both of them. He flipped through the pages on the clipboard in front of him. “Alright, you’ve both been successfully registered as Gym Challengers. You can request a number, otherwise we can assign one to you. What’ll it be?”
Dolly scratched her chin. When she was younger, she and her first Pokémon had a competition of who could shove the most jellybeans in their mouth. Dolly won with a high score of fifty-two, and from then on that had always been her favorite number.
“I’ll take number fifty-two, if it’s available.”
The League staff flipped through his papers again.
“It is! It’ll be 052,” he said, scribbling down on his paper. Then, he looked to Hop. “And for you?”
“Eh, number one is already taken, just give me whatever,” he said, folding his hands behind his head.
“How does 189 sound?”
“Sounds like the number of the next Champion,” he grinned. “I’ll take it!”
The League staff raised his eyebrows, and she could see the faint outline of his rolling eyes from behind his sunglasses. She wondered how many times he had heard that line before.
“You can pick up your uniforms to the left,” he said, gesturing. “The opening ceremony starts tomorrow at 09:00 sharp, don’t be late.”
Sure, Dolly's main goal of all this nonsense wasn’t necessarily to be the Champion, but now, after looking around at all of the other dewy-eyed Gym Challengers, a fire of competition rose within her. She used to be good at Pokémon battles, and directing her team through the Wild Area came as second nature as riding a bike. Suddenly, the risk of it all started to finally be outweighed by the reward of victory. The thrill of competition, of the lights and the cheers, all of it made her think that maybe this whole ordeal wouldn’t be so bad after all. It could maybe be fun, even.
Hop and Dolly made their way to the Budew Drop Inn, where apparently Chairman Rose had reserved rooms for all the Gym Challengers. They found Sonia in the lobby, stating that she was researching the mysterious Pokémon that were said to be in the Slumbering Weald. She dove into Galar’s history and the tale of a great hero who saved the country. Dolly zoned out as she talked, looking around the hotel lobby. A group of people all with pink hair were standing at the registration table. They were all wearing matching outfits, too, maybe they were a band or something? Did the opening ceremony have a half-time show?
She focused again as Hop elbowed her in the ribs and she let out a grunt.
“Did you hear that, Dolls? Apparently, this hero guy had a sword and a shield. I wonder if it has anything to do with what you heard in the Slumbering Weald?”
“Oh, yeah, maybe,” Dolly said, wondering if Sonia noticed her not paying attention. “Wait, actually, yeah maybe!” she almost shouted, focusing in again. “Have you found anything about a shield, Sonia? Or about, you know…the other thing?”
Sonia scratched her chin and shook her head.
“Not particularly, no. About either topic,” she added with a shrug. “Once I find out anything more specific, you’ll be the first to know.”
If that thing in the Slumbering Weald really had some connection to Galar’s history, then maybe she could even learn more about her Curse as well. It did tell her to ‘break the Curse,’ after all. Dolly shoved the hope of breaking the Curse pretty deep down a long time ago, though.
Tagging along with Hop for this Gym Challenge was turning out to be pretty lucrative. Hopefully Sonia would run across some new information for her soon. Assuming her lesson was over, they waved goodbye to Sonia and headed up to the registration counter, only to be blocked by the weird band-looking group. After a couple threats were thrown at them, they learned they were called ‘Team Yell,’ then Dolly and Hop defeated them all within a five-minute span. Dolly was surprised to see Marnie walking up the steps as soon as they had finished. Marnie smiled at the two of them again as they got back into the line to check in. The three of them chatted a bit, learning she was from a town called Spikemuth. It certainly sounded more interesting than Postwick.
The night came and went and before she knew it, and it was time to line up for the opening ceremony. Her nerves tingled as she and Hop grinned at one another, the anticipation palpable in the air. Dolly could feel a lump of nervousness in her throat. One by one they lined up, all waiting to enter what they thought would be their pitch one day.
As she and the rest of the Challengers waited, they heard Rose address the crowd, welcoming them to the Gym Challenge. His powerful voice echoed throughout the stadium.
“It is my pleasure to announce that finally,” he paused. “The Galar region Gym Challenge is about to begin!”
The stadium erupted into cheers as he smiled around the stadium. She had to admit, even though her heart was beating in her throat, Rose had quite the aptitude for commanding a room - stadium, even. As she and the other Gym Challengers waited in the tunnel, his voice continued.
“Participants must defeat the eight Gym Leaders and gather the eight Gym Badges to prove their skill as a Trainer! Only the most worthy will have the honor of challenging the greatest Champion in history!”
Again, the crowd went wild at the mention of their Champion.
“Now,” Rose called, gesturing grandly. “I would like to invite the Gym Leaders to show themselves!”
As he introduced each Gym Leader, Dolly’s heart pounded in her chest. It had been a long time since she had felt like this, such a rush, such a thrill, and to think it was only a week ago she had sat on her couch for three days straight.
It was time to introduce the Gym Challengers. Each name was called, and one by one the other Gym Challengers moved forward, walking onto the pitch. A couple A’s, one B, two C’s…
And she was next. Her heart was beating in her throat as she waited for the announcer to call her name. A League staff ushered her forward.
“Number 052, Challenger Dolly!” the announcer's voice boomed over the arena.
It was like she was waiting her entire life to hear it. It was like she was waiting her entire life to feel the vibration in her veins as the crowd roared for this new Challenger, for her future matches, for her. She stepped out of the tunnel, into the light, as the waves and power erupted from the stands. Even if she was only going to battle through one Gym, she would remember this moment for the rest of her life.

Survey #257
I hope y’all are behaving and staying inside. This’ll blow over, folks.
Have you ever met a guy for coffee? No. How often do you get called on your home phone? We don't have a landline. Do you feed your leftovers to your dogs? We don't have a dog anymore. When we had them, we very rarely did. Mom did so more than me, and I wouldn't give them anything if they were begging. Except chicken nuggets with Teddy. There was no denying him chicken nuggets. Do you like salt on your popcorn? Yes. What tricks does your pet do? Well one is a snake and my cat doesn't know any because since when do cats obey you lmao. Do you believe in psychics? No. When you hear the name “Ginger” what do you think of? Jason's old fatass dog. What is the worst damage that your car has seen? N/A Who is your least favourite character on your favourite television show? In Meerkat Manor, fuck that, I loved them all, lmao. Well, I remember I was bitter towards Rita/Amira for killing Rocket Dog's pups, but even then I knew that was meerkat nature to ensure the survival of their own offspring. That '70s Show, definitely no one. I adore all the characters. For Fullmetal Alchemist, honestly, there are SO many that I don't remember probably even half of them. BUT, from what I do remember, Nina's dad whose name evades me. You watch it and you know why alkdsjf;kaldjw. Have you gotten sick this year? No. When was the last time you got a new ringtone? Eons ago. Where do you put your keys when you get home? They're always in my purse. What’s your phone background picture? Lock screen is a cute as fuck picture of Mark, home screen is two meerkats. If you could move to any country, what would it be? Realistically, Canada. Have you ever seen a snake in the wild? Plenty of times. Do you have any posters, paintings or other artwork on your walls? A LOT. My walls are cramped; it makes it feel homey to me. Would you ever take a trip to space if given the chance? Nah, too long of a journey. How do you cope with anxiety? Watch YouTube more attentively, listen to music, nap, take one of my anxiety meds. Are you expecting any phone calls or emails? No. Who makes you laugh the most? In my "real life," my dad. Out of anyone that includes those I don't actually know, probably Shane Dawson. He's a Mood, constantly. Do you know anyone with the same middle name as you? Oh, plenty. I have like the most common white girl middle name out there. What did you have done the last time you saw a dentist? I had a cavity filled. What does a successful relationship look like to you? Both ends are happy, communication is ideal and easy for the pair, both feel loved and accepted fully, and each has healthy freedom. What do you like to put on your baked potato? The ordinary butter, cheese, and bacon bits. What field of science interests you the most? Genetics. What’s the closest shop or restaurant to your house? A Zaxby's and McDonald's are tied, being right across the street from each other. What was the most memorable birthday you’ve had? My 16th is the one I remember best, but not in a good way. What is the best house you’ve ever lived in? Our last house, aesthetically. Right in the woods and relatively pretty, yet simple. Do you look in the mirror before you leave the house? Yeah. Have you ever seen someone quit their job in a dramatic way? No. Do you know why your parents named you what they did? No. I think Mom just liked the name, though. What do you like to dip your fries in? Ketchup, mostly. Is your house clean or messy right now? It's actually really clean right now. We've had a lot of help around the house recently thanks to family and friends with Mom's cancer, and then I've been much neater and attentive to cleanliness than usual because 1.) it's my responsibility to ensure it is for Mom's health and 2.) I dropped out of school so literally have zero excuses to not be doing at least one productive thing. What was the last email you received? That wasn't trash, it was from my old major's dean in school. She was trying to comfort me and give me options on what to do versus leave, but yeah. I'll 100% give it to the school that they deeply and sincerely care for their students, I just needed to go. Do you know someone who speaks without a filter? lmao me. Well, depends, I guess, actually. I know when to keep my mouth shut in some situations. What’s your favourite kind of museum? Science museums. Especially those with d i n o z. Do you believe in alternate universes? I'm open to it, especially with the mandela effect theories, but I don't think so. Whose house did you last visit? My older sister's. What games do you play on your smart phone? Pokemon GO (if I'm in an area w/ Stops to get balls) and Dragons of Atlantis. What kinds of decorations do you put up at Halloween? We don't really decorate anymore for Halloween, or holidays in general. How many tabs do you have open right now? Two. What’s something you’ve been meaning to do but keep putting off? Try more sites to hopefully get a poem I wrote published, but that crippling fear of rejection tho. :^) What’s the first thing you check on your phone at the start of the day? The time. Have you ever flown a kite? Yeah, I loved that as a kid. I’m guessing you’ve probably been asked this before, but which do you prefer - Coca Cola, or Pepsi? Coke. Pepsi is gross. Has your phone ever gone off in the middle of a class at school? No. Did you go to your school dances? Did you dance with anyone? Just two proms. We didn't dance tho because the music was shit. What’s your relationship with the last person you talked to on the phone? What was your conversation about? Like, talk-talked, no texting? Uhhh who was that. OH YEAH, my sister. My mom didn't answer her phone so she just called me to make sure she was okay. The last time you washed your hair, did you use conditioner?
No, I never do. It just adds oil to your hair, and mine is naturally oily enough. Do you have an item of clothing that reminds you of someone? Tell me about it, and the person it reminds you of. I have a lot, none positive. If the last girl you texted told you that she was pregnant, how would you respond? Ask her who the fuck I need to kill. How would you react if your mother told you that she was pregnant again? Well considering 1.) she's past menopause and 2.) she has serious ovarian and Fallopian cancer, I'd say that's pretty impossible. Who do you have the most text messages from? Sara. The last time you skipped school, what was the reason?
Uhhh if you mean "skip" as in I had seriously no realistic reason not to go, I think I was just really tired. I tried not to skip unless I was having serious mental health issues. When did you last see or speak to someone you dislike? Why do you dislike this person? I actually don't know who that would be. When you listen to music, do you generally sing along, or just listen? I rarely sing. I just listen. Do you have any of your exes as friends on Facebook? Yes. Does more than one person like you? *shrugs* Has your partner ever accused you of cheating, when you actually didn’t? No. Who was your first love? Do you ever miss that person? Jason. Of course I do sometimes. Other times I know it's probably for the better we have nothing to do with each other anymore. Do you like your middle name?
I mean it's pretty, but boy do I wish it was more original. If your hair is long, would you ever think about having it cut short? Or, if it’s short, would you like to grow it long? I doubt it will ever be long again. Would you consider your parents to be strict? Dad never was at all; Mom sorta was when I was little. Do you have a mirror in your room? On the back of my door. Have you ever worked in food service? No, thank God. Do you often stay in your pajamas all day? I almost always do, unless I have to go out somewhere. I pretty much never leave my house ever, forget just quarantine, so like... why make more laundry. What are three YouTube videos you would like to film soon? N/A Do you ever listen to country music? No. What is your most severe allergy? Pollen. What’s the largest library fine you’ve ever had? Oh wow, no clue. I haven't been the library in millennia. Have you ever lost a library card? *shrugs* Name three literary characters you feel resemble you the most. UH yikes. This requires too much thought for me rn. Name three cartoon characters that resemble you, and say why. Ummmm I still don't know. Do you have a good doctor? I haven't seen her enough times yet to honestly say. Mom knows and likes her well, though. She's fine so far. Do you wear a watch every day? If so, what color is your watch? No, I never do. Does your phone alarm ever scare you? No, it's very peaceful. Which department store do you shop at the most? Wal-Mart. How old were you when you got your driver’s license? I'm 24 and am yet to have it. Do you have regrets? A good handful or two. Do you ever curl your hair? It's too short to do so. Do you know anyone who has coronavirus? No, and I pray I never do for my mom's sake. Out of all the big cities you’ve visited, which has/have been your favorite? Chicago is the only big city I've ever been it. Was pretty damn dope, though. Do you like dreamcatchers? I mean, they're cool. I don't believe in them being magical, though. Have you ever made a dreamcatcher, and if not, would you like to learn? No and no. Who was your high school’s biggest bully? Do you live in a city, town, or in the country? The country. What color is your toothbrush? White. When was the last time you had a nightmare? Yesterday while I was napping. Woke up shrieking and scared Mom out of her skin. Tainted my mood almost the rest of the day. If you had a terminal illness, would you want to know? No shit I would. What was the last thing someone called you other than your real name? I don't know. If you could meet anyone who lived before your time, who would it be? I have no clue. Is there a candle in the room you are in? No. Are you currently taking any prescribed medication? More than I like. Do you have bad anxiety? If so, do you take any kind of medications for it? Yes and yes. Who was the last person you felt you were wasting your time on? I don't know. One thing you’ve experienced that you thought you never would have? A suicide attempt. What was the last thing someone said to you that kept repeating over & over in your head? Ugh. If a random person were to look through the photos on your phone, is there anything you’d be embarrassed about? No. If you could, would you work from home? Do you think that would make you more or less productive? No no no no. I need a reason to leave the house. I'm way more productive away from home anyway. What were you like in middle school? "The weird kid" describes it pretty well. If you could give one charity a million dollars, what charity would you donate money to? YIKES!!!! Now that's a question. Probably something for suicide prevention/awareness. What is something you’re surprised hasn’t been invented yet? The cure for cancer. She called me in the hospital after my suicide attempt despite not talking in absolutely forever, and I'm never going to forget that. left over thing from femslash february. it’s long and dumb but idk.  a prequel to another fic I wrote last year. i’m just kind of over tweaking this lol
prompt: jewelry
pairing: juniper/fennel (scientificshipping), but burnet/kukui are there for a little bit
rating: um pg they talk about sex for a second
fandom: pokemon
Research never seemed to take her to Alola as often as it did other regions, and after having been there for nearly a month, she wasn’t sure why. The region was teaming with all sorts of relevant topics, the time she had spent there not feeling like enough. Professor Juniper had gone to help excavate a new tar pit that was found near the sea, hoping that what they might find would help her with some theories that linked to other fossil Pokemon in other regions. She had heard for years now that Alola was a heartland for fossils – found so often that they were being sold in shops to trainers. Her own theory was that it had to do with the volcanoes and how the island itself developed millions of years ago, collecting samples of the dirt, rocks and fossils to take back home and test.
Packing up the camp site always left her feeling a bit nostalgic, having spent most of her childhood and teenage years backpacking with her father. She could probably untie and repack a tent with her eyes closed by this point, though, not everyone enjoyed the camping aspect of it as much as she did.
Most of the research team had left by that point, Professor Juniper and a few others lagging behind to tie up a few loose ends. She booked herself a hotel for the final few nights in Alola, giving her a chance to have a steady internet connection and a quiet place to get organized before returning to Unova. It worked out, and she was much obliged to meet her old friend Burnet and her husband for lunch in Konikoni City the next day.
She had kept herself holed up in her hotel room the entire time since checking in, seated at the desk that morning, reviewing her scribbled notes and attempting to make more sense out of them by typing them out on her laptop in a more final report. She still had hours to kill until lunch – too close to the time to eat, but plenty of time to do something else.
There was the lingering feeling of wanting to scope out the town. It would give her a chance to stretch her legs, hoping her body would adjust before the long flight home. She had been aching after sleeping in a tent for the past few weeks, but she had hoped taking a few days off from physical labor and sleeping in a proper bed would help ease it.
Bringing something back home for Fennel had crossed her mind several times. She tried her best to pick something up for her in her travels most of the time, but this time especially seemed to carry some weight. Fennel had been upset that she would be gone for nearly a month as it was and they hadn’t been able to speak much while she was gone. When they did speak, Fennel was her usual bubbly self, but the feigned distance and sadness in her voice couldn’t be ignored.
Several flyers and signs had caught her eye in the time she had been in town of a jewelry shop run by one of the Island Kahunas. She had known that Alola ran a different league system than many other regions, and wasn’t sure exactly what the Kahuna’s job was, but it was something to do with trainers. The professor felt a tad embarrassed not being as well versed in Alolan culture as she was elsewhere. She had met the Elite Four in other regions numerous times, some more than others, but felt she should at least know the names of those with the title in the region she was visiting, at least making an effort to introduce herself.
It was said that money couldn’t buy happiness, but higher end jewelry would at least put some sort of sparkle in Fennel’s eyes when she gave it to her.
The shop was small and rather quaint, Aurea not even sure it was open until she pulled on the wooden door handle. “Hi, there. I was told to come speak to Olivia?”
“You’re looking at her,” the younger woman looked up from her spot at the counter, raising an eyebrow. “I know you from somewhere.”
“Could be.”
“You’re a Pokemon professor, aren’t you?”
“Professor Juniper,” she held out her hand as a more formal greeting with the Kahuna.
“I’m Olivia. Island Kahuna and proud member of the Alola Elite Four,” shaking her hand before gesturing to the jewelry under the glass countertop. “So, what are you looking for today? Something for yourself, or a gift for someone?”
“A gift, I think.”
“For your wife, I’d assume.”
Aurea’s brow raised at this.
“You’re wearing a wedding ring and I don’t have anything in the way of men’s stuff. Besides, I know that you’re with that scientist chick,” the kahuna continued. “Any certain occasion? Let me guess. You’ve been away from home for a while, and want to get her a souvenir.”
“Something like that, I guess.” It was all extremely presumptuous of the girl, but she also supposed that she had an eye for these types of things when it came to her jewelry business. She was also sure that Kukui had something to do with all of her previous knowledge of her, somehow. Though being a Pokemon professor did technically make her a public figure. Olivia had already known who she was, after all. Nothing she said had been a secret in any way, and she supposed word had gotten around that she was visiting the region and had been there for a few weeks.
“What does she like? Necklaces, earrings, bracelets, what?” The young kahuna started pulling some shelves around under the display, pulling a few of them on to the glass counter top.
Aurea had a pretty good idea of what Fennel’s tastes were, it was easy enough – anything pink, purple, or shiny. None of which helped her narrow it down. There was a lot of jewelry in front of her. Fancy jewelry was never something that interested the professor on her own, never wearing much of it herself. Her late mother had left quite a bit for her, most of which she had given to Fennel. Fennel knew what all of the jewels were, what they meant, and which ones to wear with which outfits.
There was one piece that caught her eye, though. A small crystal looking, heart shaped pendant set on a silver chain that didn’t look at all like the other pieces, somehow. “This necklace is interesting.”
“Ah, this one. I don’t have many left.” Olivia picked it up and set it down on a cloth on the table to provide a better look at it. “We can only make them one time a year and sometimes not at all if the temperature wasn’t low enough.”
“Why is that?”
“The Vulpix shed their coat, leaving behind these crystals that look like ice. They can only be made and found here in Alola! It’s my shop’s specialty.”
“So it’s Pokemon dandruff?”
“Er, sorta. But it makes for some nice jewelry, don’t you think?”
“I guess.” She couldn’t pretend to be as enthusiastic as Olivia was over it, because she simply didn’t get it. Fennel would like it, though. “I’ll take that one, then.” Maybe she would save it for a special occasion, even if she didn’t know for what yet. It was expensive enough to warrant a birthday or anniversary gift. Or maybe she would just give it to her as planned.
Olivia picked up the necklace, finding a box for it in a bin behind the counter somewhere. “You probably know Kukui and Burnett then, huh?” she mused as she looked around for something else.
“Oh, yes.”
“They’re really nice people. He comes in here a lot. I made her engagement ring, you know,” she continued, stuffing the box in a bag and taking a few of her business cards off of the counter to add to the contents of the bag. “Well, you’re all set, then.”
“Thanks. Let me know if you’re ever in Unova, alright?”
Olivia gave a cheerful nod to this, waving in the same tone as the professor saw herself out.
Olivia was friendly enough, if not a bit bold. The professor could see she and Fennel becoming fast friends should they ever meet.
With what started with time to spare ended in her being late now. Kukui and Burnet were already seated at the restaurant, them noticing her before she could scan the room.
“Aurea Juniper!” Burnet pulled her in to a hug before she had any time to react. “It’s been forever!”
“Professor,” she extended her hand to him, only to be pulled in to another awkward hug.
“Alola!”
“How are you? How’s Fennel?”
“Fine, it’s all fine,” Professor Juniper barely had time to take her seat across from them and pick up the menu before the questions started.
“You know, I really wish she had come with you. She could of stayed with us, we’d have been happy to show her around.”
“I know, but she’s been very busy herself. So have you guys, for that matter.”
“I’m sure we’re all always busy. But we should make time for friends, right?” Kukui set down his menu to add. “I bet she’d love it here!”
“Fennel’s never been to Alola. She’s been wanting to come here as long as I’ve known her. She really wanted to go for our honeymoon, but then she changed her mind when she saw how busy it gets in the summer.”
“You’re both always welcome, you know that,” Burnet repeated.
“Maybe you should come back to Unova. Let us know when you come to visit your family.”
“Aurea and Fennel were roomies in college,”Burnet started, turning to her husband. “Then they got married.”
“That’s not...the exact progression,” Aurea attempted to hide her face in the menu, despite that she already knew what she wanted.
Yet Burnet continued, seeming fueled by her friend’s embarrassment. “Fennel had a thing for her for a long time.”
“I’m not the one that went to Alola for a research assignment and came back showing off that rock on your hand,” she attempted to direct the attention off of herself and on to the other couple.
“No, but Fennel showed me the one you got for her.” Burnet shrugged off Juniper’s comment, even if it was true. “They were together for, like, 10 years before they got married. Had a house and a lab and everything. Aurea thought they were being secretive, didn’t you?”
“It’s beside the point now.”
Aurea was certain that her old friend was only telling her husband this now in an attempt to embarrass her, and it was working. Surely she had told him all of this before. Even if it was the case, he was laughing. Burnet had actually known Fennel first, and introduced them in college. She was also confident Fennel had confided in her with other details of their relationship through the years, and the professor was perfectly happy not knowing what.
“Speaking of rocks, you were at Olivia’s, huh?” Kukui gestured to the bag that sat next to Aurea.
“Yeah. Thought I’d introduce myself to the Kahuna. She’s a very sweet girl.”
“But you bought something, eh?”
“I, um...” revealing the contents to them would only result in more attention on herself, which she did not want. But maybe it was best to get it over it. Picking up the bag, she handed it across the table for the couple to inspect. “Be careful with it. It’s for Fennel.”
The two scientists had opened it and gazed upon it for a short time, both smiling and handing it back quicker than Aurea thought they might.
“You did good. She’s going to like it,” Burnet had some sort of sly smile. “It’s just hard to imagine you in a jewelry store picking that out for her.”
She had never been so thankful to have a waitress approach and take their orders.
Their lunch was nice at least. Burnet couldn’t open her mouth to embarrass her if they were all eating, even if it had all been in good fun.
“I hope that next time you’re here we’ll be able to spend more time together than just lunch. Unless I make it to Unova by then,” Burnet gave her one more hug upon their departure.
“It was great seeing you guys, really.”
“Tell Fennel to come visit, with or without you.”
She couldn’t help but laugh at that. “We’ll see.”
Aurea didn’t know why she felt such a rush to get back to her hotel, besides to finish up some paperwork so she had less to do once arriving home. Fennel would want her to take the next few days off, and she probably would, if only to enjoy being in her own space for a few days and not hotel rooms and camp sites.
She was trying to wait until it was late enough in the day in Unova to call Fennel. If it was 2 am in Alola, it would be around 10 am or so in Unova. Or something like that.
Fennel quickly answered the video call, though she seemed a bit distracted. “Aurea, hi!”
The professor couldn’t help but smile upon seeing the other’s face on the screen. “I figured I’d call you at the lab because you’d be on the computer. You’re not busy, are you?”
“Not really,” Fennel started, seemingly organizing some papers around her computer desk. “But I can talk for a little bit.”
“We’re done in Konikoni City. I’m actually in a hotel. I’ll be home tomorrow evening.”
“I can’t wait. I miss you so much. And when you get home, we’re going to have sex all night. And we can take a bubble bath, and drink some wine, but mostly I just want to touch you again.”
“Is….is anyone there….with you…?” the professor’s face was definitely turning red, not that Fennel seemed at all alarmed by this or what she was saying to cause it.
“Oh, yeah. My assistant’s here, and Bianca. Bianca, Marie, say hi to Aurea!” Fennel picked her laptop up and spun her chair around, turning the screen so that they could see it across the room. The professor gave a hesitant wave to the other two women,  both who gave over exaggerated waves in return. They both seemed rather occupied, only looking up when Fennel prompted them to. Thankfully blissfully unaware. She really had been gone for too long if the dream scientist was being so forward with her.
“I had lunch with Burnet and Kukui this afternoon,”  she attempted to change the subject.
“How are they? I’m glad you were able to take time away from looking at rocks to be a normal person and socialize. When are we going to go to Alola? I miss Burnet,” Fennel had looked down at her papers again, throwing some off to the side but not wavering in her conversation.
“They’re fine. They’d be glad to see you, too. I’d be happy to take you there sometime.”
“We’re about due for a vacation, I think,” Fennel gave a wistful sigh. “But mostly, I just want you home with me. I’m so bored without you here.”
“You want me home because you’re bored?”
“Mostly, yeah,” the quick response met with giggles on both behalves.
“Well, my plane should get in tomorrow around 8. I’ll text you when I’m on my last transfer.”
“Hm...will you take a few days off to spend with me before you get all wrapped up in your research stuff?”
“I suppose.”
Fennel was still smiling, but seemed suddenly alarmed by something off camera. “I need to go, I’m sorry. There’s a trainer call coming through. I’ll see you tomorrow, I love you!”
Aurea didn’t have time to repeat the sentiments before Fennel had hung up the call. She’d rather Fennel tend to her work than ignore trainers for her sake. They would have time to catch up and plan vacations, especially now that she had promised Fennel a few days without her research coming between them.
They hadn’t spent but more than a few minutes speaking, but the yawn that crept up on the professor reminded her of how late it was. She would cram in as much note taking as she could before the hour was up, and force herself to sleep at some point. A night’s rest and a few plane rides were all that stood between her and being reunited with her beloved wife.

Mental Health: Quitting SSRI (week one)
Tumblr is a blogging site so how about I blog about something serious. I’ve been on 40mg Prozac for roughly 11 years, I started it in 2007 and am now quitting it.  For anyone who has been on SSRI anti-depressants, we will all have different stories however I want to *sorta* explain my “Discontinuation Syndrome” (aka: Withdrawal). I am not saying that you shouldn’t go on SSRI sometimes it is something much needed but also I think at least in United States, it is over prescribed.  If I knew what I would be in for 11 years ago I would totally *NOT* have opted in for it. I will say they changed my life but there has had to be other ways to help me out.  So for the past few weeks I was researching as I was running out of my medication. I considered breaking my capsules into smaller ones and ‘weening’ off of it and then I considered stopping cold-turkey. I stopped cold-turkey as research I had done showed that even slowly dropping it doesn’t matter.  With the aide of a doctor who agreed to help me manage only these symptoms  from quitting the best we can and my own research I am working on figuring out how to get to normalcy and correct the damage that this has done. (Damage that I’m not exactly sure yet but I was reading about frontal lobe blunting and basically it makes you dumber in the frontal cortex region of the brain - I’m not an expert but this is just what I am understanding.) I had an anxiety disorder when I was younger and I think it’s mostly cleared up besides random episodes which are safer to take an ‘as needed’ medication when I start to feel the issues come on. More under the cut because it got long;;
For one; Do not quit or stop taking an SSRI or any other medication without the help of a doctor to some degree. I am only mentioning what is so far easing my symptoms and what the symptoms are as they come. It has been roughly a week since I took anything. Please note too, most SSRI take at least a month to get out of your body however some people are sites/youtube have expressed that they have had discontinuation issues for up to a year. Again: These are what I am having as issues so far. Point One: Physical Side Effects - Headaches, dull heavy ones that don’t specifically hurt buy your head feels like a bowling ball. - Tremors/Shaking uncontrollably. - Anxiety/Panic Attacks brought on with absolutely no cause whatsoever.  - Flu-like symptoms like sweating and chills however there is no evidence you are actually sick (ie Fever) - I have had only a very small amount so far, Tinnitus (ringing in the ears). - Tension, especially in the neck and shoulders that I don’t really know if this is correlated or because of-- - Extreme restlessness. I am basically needing to be doing something all day physically. I have been walking at least 10km a day lately and have been starting to play rhythm games to offset some of this. I think this is because physical movement creates serotonin, something your body is now having a depletion and lack of while it was once used for it. - Insomnia - Which again I think goes with the restlessness and possibly the trembling/shaking/whatever you want to call it. - If you’re not shaking there is times you feel like your body is vibrating. - I kinda have some vision issues that have begun to occur since I started this procedure but I am not giving it too much thought YET. Point Two: Mental Side Effects (these are for me, not for others, your experience may vary, much like the physical ones) - Mood swings. - Loss of thought/train of thought. Moments where your mind literally goes blank to a degree you cannot actually (it just happened here as I was typing but it comes back more or less). You cannot actually explain things or even express an emotion both physically or in words.  - Inability to focus because your brain keeps coming in and out of various states of alertness - Dissociation to some degree in different ways.  - Mild Psychotic Episodes (I had a breakdown the other night basically crying about how I’m not human like everyone else (specifically some of my classmates)) - Short term memory loss. My memory is fried. This should be temporary but I have to actually put a lot of thoughts into it. Point Three: How I Am (personally) Coping - Looking at this from a Psychiatric Angle (I am not a Psychiatrist, mind you, I’m some sorta salesman who studied only Psychology for a few semesters in college);; You have a chemical in your brain called Serotonin. This is one of the chemicals that handle mood. Normally when you are depressed or anxious there are issues with Serotonin in your brain. The medical fix is usually a type of anti depressant designed to rework your brain to either produce more Serotonin or to kind of keep the chemical in there longer before it’s eventually expelled and more is created.  This alters your brain structure. It actually changes the wiring in your brain. Now, my brain is going, “Hey, uhm, WTF mate, why are we not holding onto any Serotonin and like what is even going on what is happening I dunno what to do are we panicking right now or are we supposed to be doing this or that?” So first things first is doing the best to handle the physical issues this causes such as the shaking, anxiety/panic attacks, and headaches. I’ve been more or less just coping with most of these in a rather normal manner since I normally suffer from chronic pain I don’t mind some of the extra tenseness or silly pointless stuff like tinnitus since it’s not so bad.  I’ve been using Xanax to handle the anxiety/panic attacks and OTC pain medication to handle the headaches although when I see my doctor I might ask for something stronger as well as bring up some other issues for suggestions. Next is actually getting your body to make more Serotonin. Your body naturally creates it when you do physical activity or physically stimulate it somehow. For this, I try to be out and walking pretty much 6-8 hours a day on the weekend and in class I use my 10 minute break to run or walk around as much as I can. Insomnia and other things can be aided by taking L-Tryptophan an amino acid that humans do not normally create (it is obtained via diet). This amino acid aides in creating Serotonin and Melatonin. Melatonin is used as a sleep aide. It’s the chemical found in dark meat of turkey (as an example) that makes you sleepy. Honestly this one has helped me a lot. Stay out of fights, drama, arguments, issues, situations. Sometimes when you are sick, your body needs to rest - Let your brain rest. Try not to think so much and just let it do what you want. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL. Alcohol depleats your body of Amino Acids not only will it prologue your suffering (I’m assuming) but you will have a hangover you never thought even humanly possible.
Try to take a daily vitamin, one of which especially contains vitamin b6. I forget what this one does but it’s really important in anti depressant efforts. If you wake up in the middle of the night with tremors or shaking or whatever. Pretty much if you can, just flail really fast (be careful) your arms and legs if you can, until you feel your blood rushing and you will hopefully have produced a little serotonin.  Find something really easy to keep your mind occupied. I’ve found Pokemon Go to be really good, not only does it encourage walking and moving around but because it’s easy to play and doesn’t require A LOT of strategy it’s good. It’s also allowed me to meet a lot of interesting people. You need support from people and friends and family. I don’t have much family and I am living in a foreign country so more or less I have to just sorta. Do my best. My classmate friends have been very supportive and a few PoGo players I have met have been super supportive too. I hope this helps, will have an update in a week or so.

The East to Western Movement
Growing up in a Filipino household, I never truly noticed the amount of Eastern Asian culture I was surrounded by. I was so used to watching anime before and after school or eating Asian foods my grandma cooked or bought from the supermarket down the road. It was not truly impactful until I was exposed to social media for the first time when I was 13. The impact of social media on the spread of international media is immaculate, as I watched throughout the years this spread of Eastern Asia taking over my news feed on Facebook and Twitter, to the point where it has almost become a social niche. Ranging from media to electronics to becoming so widespread that the Asian culture has become a fetish and aesthetic.

The United States have always had an upperhand in media market, but in the last couple of decades, Asia has been trying to overcome and even challenge the west. Asia has one-seventh of the world’s population, yet they control two-thirds of the world’s total information control [here]. For example, a large breakthrough for Asian media is the growth of Japanese animations for the last couple of decades, specifically since 2013, where contracts from surrounding countries, including the United States, to own the rights to stream anime in their country has grown a tremendous 172% [here]. This is due to the influence of social media. Constantly, videos and pictures are shared, reviews bring certain shows to the top of the list, and friends bond and recommend shows to each other. It is a constant flow of exposure, which what has made mainstream animes, such as Naruto, Attack on Titan, and Dragon Ball, so popular to the point where anime conventions have become an event where thousands of people all over the country attend. San Diego had about 130,000 in attendance in 2017, with an economic impact of 140 million USD [here].  Of course not only Japanese Anime is the only thing given credit, as other popular U.S. shows and comics are included, it plays very big part. Just a couple weeks ago, I went to a local convention called Saboten where I watched several people dress up as their favorite character, including my best friend, and even spent more than I want to say on merchandise and posters (as you can see, my wall is growing in size).

This popularity in anime has led to mascots and video games that have taken over the gaming industry. Pokemon has always been popular since the release of the game, making Pikachu an iconic mascot that even non-fans can recognize. This and Super Mario led to Nintendo’s worldwide popularity. Nintendo’s global net sales are an astonishing 9.95 billion USD and 75 billion USD in the global video game market, the U.S. being the largest share of Nintendo’s revenue (https://www.statista.com/topics/2284/nintendo/). Nintendo games have become a fan favorite, Pokemon and Legend of Zelda being big parts of childhoods. I have not met a single person, online and off, that don’t know or did not enjoy these games. There is also the influence of video games and anime on art, specifically fanart as seen on prints sold at conventions. Even my own art is heavily influenced by these, as I enjoy drawing my favorite characters from my favorite shows and games. This, in turn, causing my art to reach 300-400 notes on fanart on tumblr. This would not have been possible without the help of countries being connected through media and the internet in general, and that has only grown as technology has evolved altogether. A message and a post can spread within a matter of seconds all over the world. Without this, we’d be missing a part of our childhood.

This can also be said about Asian film and media. Although not as popular as their anime counterparts, dramas and movies have been moving up, perhaps due to their storytelling that almost emulate those cheesy romance scenes you see in anime, or their stunning videography that make them so appealing. This can be seen specifically in the Korean industry, as movies like Train to Busan, A Love So Beautiful, and Descendants of the Sun, which are seen to be trending on Netflix. Usually, Asian dramas are typically shorter in length, so a lot of viewers tend to go towards them. This can also be seen in the popularity in some animes, which are shorter and usually have a interesting and flowing story line. The U.S. has also been introducing Asian actors and all Asian cast films into Hollywood, something rarely if ever seen before. Movies like Crazy Rich Asian ended up having a box office success of 76 million USD, and To All the Boys I’ve Loved before with an Asian female lead soared in popularity, but this wouldn’t have happened if not for the social media spread of Eastern Asian T.V. into Western media. Asians have always been cast as the nerdy side character or a comedic relief in sitcoms, yet in these films we see them portrayed as something more than that, someone human and not a martial artist specialist. This is important for young Asians in the West that don’t get very much representation in western media, making them feel left out, unattractive, and confused. Fortunately, this Eastern takeover has made Asians out to be more than a fetish dream, something we will get to more about later.
The U.S. has been seen making remakes of shows and movies like The Good Doctor (same title) and Boys Over Flowers (Between Boys and Friends), and upcoming is a remake of a popular Korean variety show, King of Masked Singer. Variety shows are popular for their ability to bring on famous pop singers and actors to learn more about them and make them seem like real people, rather than the pedestal they are put on here in the U.S.. King of Masked Singer is particularly popular for taking Idols and other popular T.V. persons to show their voice and talent, rather than their looks. This is important because of perfection that is portrayed in media, such as in music videos and T.V. shows. They are to be pure and without fault, making the idol status something to be sought after by not only young adults in eastern countries, but also now in the west as the spread of J-Pop and K-Pop has grown tremendously.
Tumblr media
Above Image
K-Pop boy band BTS (as show above) and girl group BlackPink has hit the Billboard top 100, with BTS currently at 81 with their new hit “IDOL” ft. Nicki Minaj [here]  and BlackPink formerly at 55 with their single “Ddu-Ddu Du” [here]. Though, many idol groups aren’t far behind this peak, like TWICE and EXO and many more climbing their way up with millions of views on Youtube. This increase is most likely due to that challenge of western standards, with many songs emulating pop genres and simplistic beats and twisting it into something catchy, almost hypnotic. You’ll hear many songs incorporate several genres into one, such as pop, rap, and even rock. Along with this is how flawless an idol looks in their videos, their skin seemingly free of all blemishes and fashion that isn’t something ridiculously over the top or painfully simple, but fashionable and wearable. It’s as if these idols are perfect, which is desirable for many young people. Who doesn’t want to seem perfect?
This ideal in looks has turned Asians from being seen as ugly and undesirable, to gorgeous, cute, and natural. This, in turn, going again that human standard I was talking about before. Soon, people began to ask how they keep their skin like their favorite idols, what makeup they use, and how their hair is cut. Unfortunately, the pedestal the west puts their stars on are nowhere near the God-level the east puts their idols on currently, no matter how many variety shows they are on. This human-like quality is being drowned out by this impossible standard of beauty and personality set by none other than eastern media themselves. Eastern Asian beauty products have had a huge impact on how the west does their skincare. Even large sellers, such as Sephora and Ulta, have a section on their website dedicated to Korean skincare. Even I have put Korean and Japanese beauty products into my daily routine, in order to achieve that perfect skin they have (as seen below) and I have to admit, they are working so far, but it really strikes home as I am writing this that perfection is really what we are looking for in today’s society and it’s very difficult to escape.
Tumblr media

This has also hurt the idea that fetishization of Asian culture has also gotten worse, much worse. For years, Asians have been seen as the perfect little wives, shy and obedient. Older white men in the west have turned to dating sites and other sites to look for a Asian wife to marry, but just Asian. As you can see in this short trailer for the film “Seeking Asian Female” by Debbie Lum, the “market” for Asian women is large and has been ongoing for years upon years, especially when the internet really took off. “Asian” has become a tag on pornography sites (along with other races as well, but it is dehumanizing to depict a race as a fetish itself). The perfection of women and men in Asian media has grown this over the past decade, as men and women alike have only wanted to date an eastern Asian man or woman because they “look the best”. Users on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram exposed to Asian media are known for using Asian people to fit their “aesthetic”, or even going as far as wishing and lying about being Asian has become the norm. The Asian culture has been boiled down to nothing more than simply… an aesthetic and a fetish. “When you generalize a specific race or group of people, you deny each and every one of them their individuality and their right to be who they are.” (http://beyondhallyu.com/k-pop/i-love-korean-boys-the-problem-of-fetishization/).
Yet, the east to west movement has opened up this opportunity to change this, as can be seen in western media movies like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and Crazy Rich Asians. The people in this film are not perfect, far from it. They are shown as humans unlike the crazy high standards held in Eastern media itself. This would not have been done without the spread of eastern media to the west. Especially in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, there is no emphasis on the lead’s race, she is simply a normal girl in high school falling in love.
Tumblr media
While this widespread media exchange has had it’s ups and downs on society as a whole, I think we are getting to a place where acceptance is the goal. Social media is a place of opinions and has the potential of creating an entire social movement overnight. The East to Western movement has been on the move for decades, but it is coming to fruition now and creating a change in how the West perceives the East.

Not really a follow forever... more like... a mutual appreciation post? Yeah.
*jin voice* UNBELIEBUBBLE?? H*ly shit? That is one big number if I do say so myself. If each one of my followers donated one chicken nugget to me, I’d be able to eat 30 meals!! That’s insane!!
I started this blog early this year and never really expected it to become anything other than a place to dump my reblogs and occasional shitpost for BTS. Never in my life did I expect people to come to my little corner of this hells*te to read my fics and scenarios, to send me weirdly sexual but relatable asks, to start discourse about mundane topics, or just to scream together in the tags. A lot of stuff has happened over the past few months, both good and bad. Above all else however, I’ve come to meet some extremely talented and wonderful people who have inspired me to become a better person and writer. The number of followers and notes I get are great and all, but the connections I’ve made thanks to this site is really the best gift of them all. Not to be emo, but you all have made a huuuuuge impact on my life, whether I talk to you everyday or if you just quietly like my posts and check up on my blog every so often. Under the cut are just some special mentions of people who I just had to thank personally because they’ve honestly been the best part of being in this community!! (also ADVANCED APOLOGIES IF I FORGET TO MENTION ANYONE!! JUST KNOW THAT IF I’VE EVER TALKED TO YOU EVEN FOR 2 NANOSECONDS, YOU STILL HAVE A PLACE IN THIS LIST!! I LOVE YOU!!)
Firstly, @ediblesuga or @lilacjihoon or whatever the fuck URL you want me to tag you in (bitch this is what you get for having one million URLs): CAITLIN MY WONDERFUL BUT DEMONIC BEST FRIEND ON THIS DAMN SITE!! You are without a doubt the best thing to have ever happened to me during my 10-ish months writing here for BTS. To think that it all started with you being nice to me after reading my two first fics and now here we are,,, talking about goats and **** and me taking every opportunity to piss you off with my reaction memes and whatnot. But despite all the banter we do, I know that the connection we have is indispensable. I’ll forever be your demonic hoe 🤧
@btsaeipathy or @deboracorrea25: DEBY MY DARLING!! You are without a doubt the sweetest and kindest person I have ever met. To think that it was almost 5 months ago when we first talked about Filipino dramas!! And look at you!! Now you’re a writer in your own right, and I still remember when you asked me to read your first Hoseok scenario before you posted it. You will forever be one of my dearest friends, and I’m so proud of how much you’ve grown on this site. I love you!!
@mintlattaes: MY LITTLE BAB SOPH 🤧 Not a day goes by when I don’t think back to how cute you were when you sent me your first message!! It was back when I was still living in the PH, and we didn’t have much of a time difference, so I’m sorry I can’t always be there to talk!! Just know that I’m always proud of you and that I love you to bits!!
@catandlovelyfish: Ah of course, my wonderful and talented songstress; how could I not mention you? Whenever I receive your spurts of messages talking about your day, I find myself just smiling fondly at your enthusiasm. Even though I can’t always relate to your problems because I don’t quite understand your scene, I’m still glad that you take the time to tell me about your troubles anyway!! I love you my dude, and I know you’ll do well in life. Good luck with your parade!!
@sugachki: My Sunny Honey!! Oh my Lord look at you go!! Writing your own fics after weeks of you asking me for advice (HAHA); you were the cutest lil thing!! It makes me immensely proud to see you writing your own stuff and seeing you take some of my advice to heart. I’m so so so excited to see you grow and mature as a fanfiction writer, so please know that you’ll always have a loyal reader in me!! I love you!!
12 hour nap anon: MY POKEMON LOVING FRIEND!! HOW COULD I NOT MENTION YOU? Even though you’re not much of an anon to me anymore (since I know who you are lol), you are still an honorary anon to me! Thank you for tolerating my rambling on Pokemon and video games and just generally reading and supporting my stuff! Every time I see a new notification in my inbox, I always hope to God that it’s one of your sweet messages!! Thank you so much for being such a sweet person!!
Also, here are some other lovely lovely people whom I have met over the months and I just had to mention as well! Please know I love you all very much and I appreciate every single interaction that we’ve had. You all mean the world to me, and I hope the remaining days of 2017 will be as good to you as you were to me!!
@gukbae // @sweaterpawsyoongi // @yoongihime // @gukyi // @motionlessyoongz // @hobigolightly // @back2mochi // @kittae // @army-author // @blameitonsuga // @sugaroons // @cinnaminsuga-kookie // @itsawonderfulsakujo // @forever-young-got7 // @jeonsneha // @jollyjikook

I am almost an entire month late in doing this, lol, but here it finally is! It's pretty fun to put this all together and see what my focus was for each month~ Thank you all for sticking with me throughout the year and thanks to all the newcomers who've joined me in my journey of art <3 Here's to another great year of art! \o/ I have a lot planned and I'm probably too ambitious, but here we gooooooooOOOOOOOOOOO!! I'm gonna give little blurbs about each month's piece or what I remember going through each month haha, so feel free to read over my ramblings and such >w>
January -
I chose this piece because of the lighting and the expression. I really liked how the torn down wall turned out behind him and overall this is one of the best completed works of that month. It was a hard choice between this one and one with a sunset behind a female crocodile woman, but I ended up choosing this one for the color in the hair and that it was furry while the other one was a human with crocodile features. (both were not my commissions)
February -
This is probably one of the best pictures I've ever done to be honest haha. I still love the idea of it, the layout, the lighting, ALL of it. I even entered it into a scholarship contest and WON. But the best part of that contest was that it was for my university and this is KIRBY FANART xD that still kills me! haha
March -
Every time that I hang out with my friend :userVibrantEchoes: I end up drawing either Kirby or Pokemon stuff and this piece came from one of my sketches I did while hanging out with her. It was really just something I pulled out of files to work on after completing commissions in a stream but I experimented with lighting and I remember switching between two versions of my preferred art program (because a new update was released that changed nearly everything about the main tools I use) in order to get used to how the new version worked. This was a complete experimentation for all kinds of things but it turned out to be the best piece of the month (in my opinion anyway lol)
April -
Apparently April was when I started to get REALLY into Overwatch, haha. All the work I had available to choose from was Overwatch related and most of those were sketches or colored sketch style comics that I had done at the time. So I went with one of my FAVORITE colored sketch pieces where I had included a big ol' essay about Hanzo and how I adored that character and for what reasons, applying all I'd learned in my psychology classes as well as my own personal experience with depression and loss of family and difficulties with siblings to my claims. Then I tied in how McCree works really well as either a good friend or a lover for him based on their pasts. People seemed to LOVE it too! Though I honestly was expecting some sort of hate for that analysis of him but lots of people commented (this feedback is mostly on tumblr, btw) and messaged me about the analysis or left tags on their reblogs about how they were thinking similar things or that I did really well with it. I love getting feedback on anything, but the sheer amount of it for THIS post... it was amazing and totally worth it.
May -
I shipped a few different pairings from Overwatch >w> Pharmercy is also one of them~ This piece was a pun on how Mercy's line in the game says "healing stream engaged" and I put a ring on her finger and titled it "Healing stream (and healer!) engaged!" ...unfortunately no one commented on that :'c
June -
This is around the time that I started switching from drawing BnF artwork to drawing furry art almost exclusively. I had been MAJORLY involved with the BnF roleplay community there for a while and did a lot of work for people on that site between doing my own roleplays. This was done for a dear friend of mine from that site of one of his new characters. Tagging on from the Pharmercy piece in May - I had become really drawn to doing a glow effect for some reason and wanted to do some sort of magic piece. So this one came about. The character himself was a mimic octopus, hence the designs on his skin and the almost tentacle texture to his hair.
July
-
In July I spent a LOT of time sketching and doodling furry stuff so I didn't really have any "fully finished" things to choose from for this month. After attending Texas Furry Fiesta in March I wanted to get more involved with the furry community but I didn't know how. I downloaded Telegram and tried talking with the artists/friends I had met at the convention but nothing was really sticking with me because I barely knew anyone local. But July was when I found out about the local Texas chats and started attending furmeets and events, made friends, etc. I started making LOTS of stickers for myself of my brand new fursona design to use in the chats (after years of having two separate sonas I combined the species into one that feels like ME rather than characters). Overall it's been a fantastic experience and I've made SO MANY new friends in the local furry community, it's great. BUT! Splatoon 2 had also come out and I discovered Marina because of one of my new furry friends who was/is obsessed with Splatoon and fell in love with her design >w> so I did a little bit of fanart for her during this month~
August -
The last month before school starting up was also the last time that I drew the kemono design of Dimitri with his BnF boyfriend Onnen the elk. At this point I had fully decided that I was moving on from BnF to get more involved with the furry community and I had mostly stopped drawing Overwatch fanart all the time too. I believe my computer was broken at some point and the game had to be deleted, the drive wiped and such. I lost a lot of files that I had been working on... but I didn't re-install the game and ended up not playing anymore because school started up at the end of the month and it was my last semester so I had some pretty big classes that needed my attention more.
September -
I'm really amazed that I had next to NOTHING for this month to choose from. All I had done in September was school work, some Telegram stickers, and maybe some sketches here and there. So what I chose for this month is an example of one of my favorite stickers that I had completed during the month (for Siber) and one of my projects during that month was to use Adobe Illustrator and design a sign or logo then use the laser cutters at the school to both do etching and cutting. And I redesigned my logo from about a year before and included elements that are super important to me (bunny and dragon, since I'm a dragunny, and the star since my last name is Starr). I also created my own font for the actual letters in my username too, which got me big points in my critique in class. It totally went to my head when everyone in there was just blown away with my design of it x3 I was struttin' the rest of the day~
October -
This piece is super emotional for me. As some of you may be aware; I lost my dad a few years ago. For some reason the thought came to mind that when/if I get married I'm not going to have my dad around to dance with me during the traditional father-daughter dance and then I tried to remember if he and I had EVER done that together and I'm pretty sure we never did. Maybe when I was very very young, but I don't remember ever going to anything like a "father-daughter dance". So... this is a drawing of a moment that will never happen. Also - my dad's fursona is a lion with a "chipped" afro, by the way. He loved the character I designed for him too x3 It's just kind of hard to see that in this drawing since it's cropped and he's mostly behind my sona's head
November -
I didn't have much to choose from for this month as I was still super busy with school, but this is when I started getting back into traditional art and began making badges for people~ One of my first commissioned traditional badges was for a local fur and I really like how it came out :3c so that's the one I chose to represent this month! \o/
December -
Another piece with Siber here, haha. But this one had a bunch of elements in it that I really enjoyed doing. There's the "magic" effect with the music around him, the color scheme is super wintery, there's foreground and background elements that I think really make the picture work well, and I really just like this picture haha. I think it's a strong representation of my styles mixed together since all I'd drawn of him up until this point was stickers so I was pretty set into a certain way of drawing this character. But this turned out really well and I just really like it haha
Boy that was a lot of blurbing >-> lolol Thanks for reading if you did! I'd love to read your comments on what month is your favorite or if you had a piece from last year that is definitely one of YOUR favorites that I didn't include (I'm super interested in that actually, please let me know lol) Do you think I chose good work for this? :3c Do you think I over-explained my own reasons behind choosing these? lol Lemme know what you think in the tags or comments or through my inbox! \o/  I DO definitely read all of that ~ ❤❤❤ And thank you again for following me ❤❤❤

For the fanfiction questions thing: 1, 3, 6, 11, 17, 21, 25, 27, 36, 40, 41, 46, 50 and 51 (I hope these aren't too many)
Not too many at all! I like talking about myself lol.
Under a cut because longggggg.
1) What was the first fandom you got involved in?
Oh gosh, definitely Tokyo Mew Mew. I never wrote fanfics for it but I co-owned and then owned an Avidgamers RP site for TMM called MewUSA back in like 2004-2006. Avidgamers was a forum site engine that was pretty damn nice for its time (also FREE, that was a plus) and I spent HOURS creating characters, storylines, and layouts for it. There were TONS of individual in-character boards and I think we may have had up to 100 unique users at one point. The detailed characters/plotlines were BASICALLY fanfiction- I think I did an entire rp with myself between a few of my characters once- and it was a whole lot of fun. Some of the OCs from that site were repurposed into a longrunning rp I have with @liarino on AIM and I am FOREVER grateful that I met them through that site
Fanfic-wise, it was Full Metal Alchemist. I had a horrendous LITERAL self-insert OC fic called ‘Nice of Me to Drop In’ that was based on an RP I did with a different friend. Plot? ‘Fangirl of FMA LITERALLY FALLS INTO HER TELEVISION AND WAKES UP IN THE UNIVERSE AND FALLS IN LOVE WITH ALPHONSE’. The end. I never finished it but holy shitballs it got SO MANY REVIEWS. I’m surprised how many people actually enjoyed it- I did get some criticisms but despite the fact that it was so cringe-worthy that I took it down it still got sooooo much positive feedback. I sometimes wonder if people would still be reading it on ff.net if I hadn’t taken it down the last time I overhauled that account. I still have some Ouran oneshots on there that I wrote TEN FUCKING YEARS AGO that still get reviews. Dayum.
3) What is the best fandom you’ve ever been involved in?
I have to say it’s a tie between the Tokyo Mew Mew fandom circa 2003-2006 and the Ouran fandom from about 2006-2008. My experience with them was limited to RP boards but I had the MOST FUN running MewUSA and a long-running Gaia RP ‘Hosting the Hosts’ because of the warm response to the concepts. The TMM fandom especially was super creative even back in the day- there were so many fan mew mews because the formula was so easy and that was one series that I didn’t mind OCs because the concept was easily applied. In-universe, the creator could have easily made more Mew Mews. So the possibilities were endless. That’s also the fandom I learned the majority of my writing skills from, even if I did get called out a couple times for shitty RPing. I got better and I was so sad when the engine finally kicked the bucket. Aside from the RP sites the TMM fandom had sooooo many fansites dedicated to the show- my other favorite being Neko Tokyo. I think that site might still be up…
Ouran was limited to that RP I ran but damn I never had one so fun. That group of writers was hysterical and I actually met one of them in person because by sheer coincidence she lived near me. She moved soon after we figured it out but she came back for a convention and we hung out all weekend. Unfortunately I don’t remember her name and I lost her phone number T_T I wonder where she is sometimes. I wonder where a lot of my fan friends from back then are. The problem with early 2000s internet.
Tho I think Boueibu will be my new modern fave fandom.
6) List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved in.
Ohhhh dear. I’ll keep it to ones that I actually ship characters in because a lot of my early fandoms were MYSELF AS AN OC X HOT MALE CHARACTER. OTL. I was a weeb. Most of these are fandoms I’ve rped in rather than written fanfiction for, however.
Tokyo Mew Mew- PuddingxTart. I like to read IchigoxKisshu fanfics sometimes but that ship is highly problematic looking back on it lol
Code Lyoko - THROWBACK. JeremiexAelita. Adorable.
Ouran HSHC - I’m fond of HunnyxHaruhi (as evidenced by my mostly abandoned ff.net account) but basically AnyonexHaruhi is super cute. I think I read a fic once where Haruhi was in a relationship with ALL of the guys and it was actually super interesting. I don’t think I can find it again, tho.
Harry Potter - Drarry.
Walking Dead - CarolxDaryl FTW. and Richonne. I’ve toyed with the idea of writing fanfics for WD but never quite get up to it.
Mass Effect - Shakarian. Fuck yes. Fun fact I have an unfinished smutfic on the mass effect kinkmeme livejournal that I will EVENTUALLY FINISH ONE DAY AND PUBLISH UNDER MY NAME buuuut for now it will remain an anonymous abandoned fic.
Boueibu - …All of them? OTL I can’t pick one ship… tho if you force me… IoRyuu and BeppuMoto OT3.
YOI - I think everyone’s OTP is Victuuri.
11) Who is your current OTP?
Victuuri.
17)  Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?
Since Boueibu is my current fandom- I immediately was drawn to Enatsu since s1 had a relatively large focus on them but I’ve kind of fallen out of actively shipping them. I like them as a couple and I think they’re def boyfriends material but they’re definitely a comfortable ship. Their personalities are just… drama-free, so their relationship to me just seems like a quiet background relationship. IoRyuu is a little more volatile and I really like ships where there is a lot of between-the-lines interpretation and potential for conflict. Also I just really like the Beppus
21) What was the first fanfic you ever wrote?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The aformentioned ‘Nice of Me to Drop In’ FMA OC Mary Sue Self insert fic. Definitely the first one I ever published on the interwebs. Although I think TECHNICALLY my very first one was a Pokemon story that I was writing for a little kid neighbor of mine back when I was like… 11. I think I had just gotten a computer in my room and I remember typing it up and drawing some cover art for it… it was basically an expanded version of the episode where Meowth and Pikachu were handcuffed together or something… except there were more Pokemon involved and ALL of the characters were friends. Like Brock and Tracey were both with Ash and Misty and all of the Team Rocket people were friends for some reason. Idk I was a weird child.
Ohhh maybe a tie for the FMA fic was a Code Lyoko one I wrote around the same time called ‘Desert Rose’. I can’t remember now which was published first because I deleted them all. Another Mary Sue OC fic but I actually am still kind of proud of how I expanded the Lyoko universe in my head. I came up with new areas to Lyoko and like a central region and how they all connected. Nevermind the fact that the girl with a CAT THAT COULD OPERATE THE COMPUTER was the main character and obviously I shipped her with Odd because YumiUlrich and JeremieAeilita were OTPs. It was weird.
25) What’s your most popular fanfic?
If the story was still up it might have been ‘Nice of Me to Drop In’ because that fic still haunts me. Buuut it’s either ‘Naptime’ or ‘Desire’, one of my two Hunny x Haruhi fics from my Ouran days that I left up on ff.net for posterity. I have no desire to go read the cringe and find out which one has more hits but I bet it’s the G-rated ‘Naptime’ cuz ‘Desire’ is a) the first M rated Hunny x Haruhi fic on ff.net EVER and b) really really bad porn written by like, 16-year-old me. Oops. It’s a smidgen OOC on the part of Haruhi if I remember right buuut I actually still stand by the idea that Hunny is not as childlike as he seems.
Oh dear maybe that’s why I like Yumoto so much. Similar character type. OTL
27) What do you hate more: Coming up with titles or writing summaries?
I feel like I’m horrendous at both but lately it’s titles that are giving me trouble. 2 of the 3 Boueibu fics I’ve written had different working titles that got changed the second the story went up to be published. I’m having a brain fart and can’t remember them but both ‘All the Pretty Little Horses’ and ‘Completely’ were titled something really stupid. And your giftfic was ‘?’ until I decided on the central theme lol.
36) What’s your favourite genre to write?
I don’t like reading romance novels but I love writing shippy stuff. Tension, build….smut
40)  What do you struggle the most with in your writing?
Pacing in longer works, definitely. Also just… keeping up with it. I am a horrible procrastinator and if I don’t actually have a deadline with external consequences then I never get anything done. I can’t set my own deadlines because I can always move them. I can’t get my family or friends to set them for me because I know they’ll forgive me if I fail (how horrible lol). I have tons upon tons of unfinished fics from fandoms past sitting somewhere in the depths of my word documents folder and about as many original short stories. I have so many ideas but because I get easily distracted and also because I am now working full time and suffer from typical adult exhaustion I can only put a fraction of them on paper.
My inner critic is also a fucking bitch. I can’t get her to shut her face long enough to write a sentence sometimes. Again, I have to have a deadline looming before I can put her on mute most times. If I have infinite time, she doesn’t shut up and makes me rewrite a sentence 100 times because it sounds stupid.
41) List and link to 5 fanfics you are currently reading:
Ahahahaha… I don’t have 5 simultaneously because I can’t just… not finish reading something before moving onto the next one. I don’t also read things that are unfinished unless they sound REALLY interesting because I’m stupid impatient. But I guess for my current fandom (Boueibu) I’ll link 5 fics I read recently that I liked!
1) Pink Blood - @magiccatprincess (okay actually this is one I’m going to read soon because it looked interesting… so it fits the question lol)
2) tuesdays - @vagarius (because how can I not love something written for me?
3) Liar - BlackJoker77 (A whoooole lot accomplished here in not a lot of words. Also, Yumoto character study/reading between the lines? Yush.)
4) ….. ok I ran out of ideas. I don’t bookmark anything OTL. I’ll come back to this question at another time with an ACTUAL answer.
46) If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?
I’m most proud of ‘Completely’ at the moment- I really like how I pulled off Ryuu’s voice and it’s most definitely a scene I wanted to see written… so I’m happy that I was able to provide that scene
50) How did you get into reading and/or writing fanfiction?
It was basically an extention of RPing for the writing portion of it- ‘Nice of Me to Drop In’ was basically a cleaned up RP and when it wasn’t rping it was fan gratification for the other early fics I did. As a kid I used to (and still sometimes do) make up stories in my head when I was about to go to sleep, and a lot of them were episodes of my favorite shows that I wanted to see. So I’d put some of them on paper. And then it moved into the ~romance~ category; I was a hopeless romantic as a teenager and like a lot of teenage girls I was kind of horny so fanfiction was a way to explore my sexuality in the comfort of my own head, basically. I still like me a good smutfic and bonus points if it’s romantic AND smutty. My bf can definitely tell when I’ve been reading something naughty….
51) Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!
Okay, Imma do both! And I have 2 things to rant about because I can’t shut up.
Rant: This is more of a thing that I hate about MYSELF reading fanfics, but I hate that I get turned off of fics so quickly because of writing style. When I can push past beginners writing mistakes or mediocre quality writing I can sometimes find gem fics with plots/characterizations I find adorable, but more often than not I click out of fics after just a few sentences because I can’t stand poor writing. And I feel so elitist about it! Fanfics are free, fan-generated content. A lot of fanfics are written by kids or beginner writers. I have to keep reminding myself that not every fanfic author has gone to school for writing. They may not know the conventions of literature. They may not realize that they’re head-hopping in the middle of paragraphs. They may not know the proper way to punctuate dialogue (and I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW until grad school!!!!). If I let mistakes get in the way of content I may miss out on an up and coming writer. And lord knows I was horrendous when I first started. Everyone starts somewhere. I hate that it takes me so long to get out of teacher/writing student mode and truck through some writing that may not technically be the best but their heart is in the right place.
Rant2: I don’t like how isolated fanfiction can feel sometimes. It seems like people don’t comment on fics as much as they used to, and I see these posts going around on tumblr about how authors LOOOOOVE comments and want more of them but then comments just… don’t appear. It’s not so hard to post one thing you really liked about the story, and even one thing you didn’t like. Comments help authors grow.I also don’t like how it’s so hard to find a beta reader or three to bounce ideas off of and proofread your work.
Gush: I love communities. I love the events fanfic authors put together. I love how when communities get tight-knit how everyone builds each other up and gives one another ideas. I just love fanfiction in general, really
aaaaaand SHEW. That was a lot. BUT DEF NOT TOO MUCH

Late 2018 Review
2018 was actually a good year for me. I would actually rank it above 2011, making my ranking of each year since 2011 the following:
2018, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2014, 2012
With 2015 being the lowest acceptable standard of a good year. So what made my 2018 a good year?
January started out slow. I was placed in class with people I don't know in Consumer Behavior, and Labor Negotiations felt long and boring. My work became a chore and I was frustrated with my job search. I had a staffing agency help me with job search for a controls engineer position, but that never went through. Then February came along and I got fired the day after a snow day. The same staffing agency didn't have anything for me. However, things turned around in school when I gave my best presentation ever in Consumer Behavior. Also, I ended up meeting a high school friend for the first time in five years. Then March came along and I reconnected with two other friends. One was my high school best friend who I ran into at the library. The other, my mother contacted because she met my friend's mother somewhere. I also started working out at the gym.
April was a lot of back and forth emails with my MBA program. I continued to work out at the gym, trying to avoid my supervisor who also mentioned he worked out at the gym before he fired me.
May had a different feel to it. I felt like everything around me was in a Kim Possible episode. The color of the grass and sky were so surreal and felt like something out of a painting. Also, I started to wake up earlier this month too. I got my first real job this month, which I got fired from later.
June was okay. I started my first work drama this month. Apparently, my supervisor thought I was being too immature at a site visit, and she didn’t like how I didn’t know how to inspect the equipment. I thought she was supposed to train me, but she didn’t. I should’ve spoken out against her. She didn’t like me studying for the FE exam during work. She was very difficult and unfair towards me. During dinner one night, I mentioned that I liked studying the math in exams like the Bar and MCAT and she thought that I was studying for them during work. I did that during my free time at home, and if she had been paying attention to the conversation, she would know that I never studied for them at work. I still need to get my revenge on her.
Of course, 3rd quarter was tough. I lost my job, my phone, and most importantly, my friend who I'll never get back. The only good things that happened were getting a chance to see Smash Mouth, Tomorrowland, NYS State Fair, and having time to watch TV such as 13RW and Stranger Things.
In August, I traveled to many places looking for a job. I also got my first experience driving on the highway when I went to Syracuse for a few days. Syracuse was nice, because the hotel i stayed at had a gym where I could practice and improve my volleyball skills. The balls were inflated well and they also had soft training balls that appeared to float when you hit them. All the interviews I went through did not offer me a job except one, which I worked at in September. However, it was a manufacturing job, which I knew I didn't want to do for a long time. It was too far away at a very low pay. At least I made a friend, who I don't talk to anymore.
And last quarter was a mix of feelings. October was pretty bland. I did go to a showcase where I made another friend, who I only saw once in November and never seen again. I did get a job interview at a small company near me, and they made me go through so much. They invited me back for a second interview in November, which was pretty nasty. In addition to that, I had to do some sort of exercises for them. It was hard, but I had to do it because I needed a job. However, they never got back to me, which is good because I also did my final interview at my current company. Very poor sportsmanship on their part. And in December, I was happily working, the same way I came into 2018. I'm glad 2018 happened the way it did.
I also passed two actuary exams back-to-back in November and December too, which was great because its a step towards more opportunities in the future.
On top of that, I made acquaintances with someone older than me, but she took me dancing first thing in 2019 and she was a pretty solid wingwoman. I didn't get anywhere with the girl she introduced me to, but that's a story for 2019. She’s also a volleyball player.
Another person who may become a permanent friend is the people I met at church. I went to their church at the end of September. It is a small church where a guy there plays Pokemon, and the church pastor is interested in playing volleyball.
I plan on ditching the other friends I made at the other church I went to this year. There’s too much high school stuff there, and they weren’t really good friends anyways.
Overall, my gaming life has become less important this year. While I finally achieved my goal of maxed skills in Runescape, I stopped playing as much due to a combination of reaching my goals, not having a computer to play on, and a lack of interest. My mobile gaming did not exist at all. I did not log into a mobile game once, such as Temple Run or Doodle Jump. I had a slow phone where the games were installed, and my other phone was stolen.
My gaming life is now reduced to just Pokemon, where my goal is to catch most of them. I definitely want to get competitive Pokemon that evolve by trading and competitive legendary Pokemon.
I came up with a little theory. If I had a bad year 10 years ago, then I will have a good year 10 years later. If I had a good year 10 years ago, then I will have a bad year 10 years later. This is true for the most part. 2001 was okay. 2002-2003 was bad because I had a bad 2nd grade teacher, and I was afraid of her. Also, I changed elementary schools.
2004 was better because I was starting to adjust and made a good friend who I talked to on Christmas 2018. He's not doing so well, so I plan on helping him get started. He wants to do graphic design and he works at Dairy Queen now. He's trying to pay off a truck he crashed. My third grade teacher was the nicest out of all my elementary school teachers, and I hope to contact her again someday. It was a good time. I remember passing on the kindness coin and singing the song of the month.
2005 was bad because I had two instances where my fourth grade teacher made me write a note to my parents, which I didn't show them but they eventually found out. Also, my fifth grade teacher was strict.
2006 and 2007 were good years. I started middle school those years, although I did not enjoy seventh grade as much. I had the best sixth grade teacher, and he still remembers me. However, I’m terrible at keeping touch. Maybe in 2020?
I remember 2008 being the most humiliating year for me. I never wanted to return to those times. I was in a special program back then, and this program did everything it could to make me feel uncomfortable and “unnormal” compared to everyone else. I had to take exams in a different room. It actually had its benefits because I had more time to study, but still, everyone would know I have a problem and I felt they were making fun of me because of that. Also, when someone kept stealing my gym lock and pants, they made me change in this separate room. Also, I had to take study hall and lunch in this separate room, and people noticed my absence. These people were forced to be my friends because I would spend so much time separated from the normal social situation of middle school. These people I was grouped with were also socially inept, which didn’t help me improve socially, even though the goal of this program was to help people improve socially and academically. Academically, I had no problems, and I think they knew that.
2009 was good because I enjoyed 8th grade. It was my time to shine as I noticed my math skills were superior to everyone else's. Based on this, 2019 should be bad for me.
As for 2020, I want it to be the best. I will keep taking hits in 2019 to ensure 2020 will top 2018 and 2011.
