Shower Thoughts Time!
I think it’s obvious how much I can’t wait for the comfort, humor, and angst that the Story Missions will hopefully provide between our favorite heroes, but I’m also excited by the thought of not everyone getting along or seeing eye-to-eye. Does that make sense?
Specifically, I was thinking about the interaction between D.Va and Torbjörn where Hana says “I heard your inventions take five minutes to boot up!” It is OBVIOUS who she heard that from. Torbjörn’s incessant bashing of the rookie in Uprising continues to haunt him, just when he thought endlessly hearing “The cavalry’s here!” after he said it once was the end of it. Of course, Angela was also ruthless towards him in Uprising. I just think everyone harrassing him is funny. I don’t think Torbjörn dislikes Lena in the seven or eight years that have passed, but I hope to see more of their back-and-forth bickering.
There’s also the many lines towards Cole when reviving him in PvE, like:
Pharah: “Cassidy went down again! Somebody save him!... Again!”
Zarya: “Cole, you are being a baby.”
Tracer: “YoU’Re WeLcOmE, PaRtNeR! (giggles)”
But those are all playful. On the other hand, I thought about the contrast between Zarya’s “Revive Dr. Zhou! Quick!” line and “The British one needs to be revived” line, and I found it to be strange. The latter doesn’t sound inherently nasty, but it’s just weird of Aleksandra to not even use Lena’s call sign. I believe the only other generalizations we see like this are when people call Cassidy “cowboy”, probably because the lines were written before the development team settled on a new name, and people calling the various scientists by some form of “doctor”. Maybe I’m reading into it too much, because Aleksandra can be friendly with Lena (See: “You sure know how to bring people together!” / “And you know how to blow them up!”)
I just think it would be interesting to see a clash in ideologies across the newer generation of Overwatch, because no one ever gets along with everyone in real life. What if Aleksandra didn’t agree with how Lena views omnics, for example? I would imagine that she is struggling after meeting Lynx Seventeen. She wasn’t even sure why she felt compelled to rescue them, and she said she would have killed them herself days prior. Even then, she hasn’t grown close enough with an omnic only to lose them much like Lena has with Mondatta and Lady, so she might not get it, you know?
Then, there are characters like Hanzo, who has “This is no place for a scientist” for a revive line. We can presume that Hanzo will join Overwatch after both the Dragons cinematic and whatever happens in his short story in the Heroes Ascendant collection, and I would imagine that he would find fighting alongside a super-intelligent talking gorilla from the moon to be preposterous, for example.
Or is the line, perhaps, directed towards Mei? Proto VI’s video of PVE voicelines claims that the aforementioned line is directed towards Winston, but AFAIK from my own experiences, there is no way in the fanmade file extraction tool to tell how a line is triggered or who it is directed towards.
I say this because there’s also Satya (who might defect to Overwatch alongside Niran after her upcoming short story), who has an interaction with Mei in PvP.
Symmetra: “I can't imagine that you're here to do research. Why are you fighting?“
Mei: “I'm here to make a difference in the world. Just like you, right?“
Jack also had a now-removed interaction with Mei in Overwatch 1.
Soldier: 76: “The front lines are no place for a scientist.”
Mei: “I guess it’s a good thing I have you to watch my back.”
Hanzo sounds condescending, Satya sounds curious, and Jack sounds disappointed, as if he’s guilty that someone like Mei feels they have to fight for the better world that he, a soldier genetically enhanced for combat, could not achieve. Still, their sentiment is all the same: Mei does not belong in combat.
We also have characters like Lúcio.  Lúcio was literally created to be the embodiment of Lena’s phrase “The world could always use more heroes.” He is a freedom fighter and political activist who, I would say, has definitely proven his worth in the fight against Vishkar, but we can’t forget that Lúcio is also a celebrity DJ. I love, love, love this interaction you can hear from 2019 demos:
Lúcio: “All we can do is fight. If we can beat them in Rio, then we can beat them anywhere, but we start here.”
Tracer: “We? I like the sound of that...”
The Rio team saw Lúcio in action as they were deploying, and they knew they could use his help just as much as he could use theirs. However, I can’t imagine that, say, the New Blood team will roll up to Watchpoint: Gibraltar and not raise eyebrows at the sight of international celebrity DJ Lúcio Correia dos Santos standing there, glowing green hair accessories, roller blades, and all. Imagine early 2010s Skrillex in his place if you can’t imagine how ridiculous that must look to everyone, as capable of a fighter as Lúcio is.
All of this is to say, I think it would be great to have conflict between our heroes in the form of childish bickering amid trivial disagreements, sure. I would also like to see heroes have disagreements in the beliefs that stem from their different backgrounds. Lastly, it would also tie into the overarching theme of “The world could always use more heroes” if we see a few of our heroes be brushed off and doubted by their peers only to prove that everyone can dare to see the world for what it could be, as Dr. Harold Winston put it.
Okay, that’s all! I will see you all next week when I feel an urge to write an essay about Overwatch characters again. <3

lovingoverwatchguys - Honestly, I don't think Zarya and Jack are any more similar than any of the other new bloods are to Jack. For the record, a lot of people seem to think Jack is closed minded, but I don't agree. Overwatch itself was an organization dedicated to future technology, knowledge, and innovation. That mindset wouldn't do a complete 180. I think the 'bitter old soldier' image is not one to take at face value. Especially since Jack is often especially protective over young people.
Yeah it's why I specified both in that post and in a preivous post I made that Zarya is more similar to Torb then any other Original Strike Team member. I do stand by that all the New Bloods have some similar traits to Jack, but if we're talking full on story parallels then she's closer to Torb and even with character traits I think she's very resembling of Rein. Honestly with that post I didn't want to repeat things I already said in a previous post.
I also agree with the dislike of the characterization of Jack being close minded. I think people forget that for Cassidy to have gotten into Blackwatch, Jack would have also had to have seen some potential, also the only evidence to even support him being "closed minded" is his attitude towards Helix and even then we see other characters agree with his distaste of them. (and even then I think it's more out of concern for Pharah then anything else)
I wanted to mention this in that post but I didn't think it would fit, so I'll mention it here. I think out of all the Old Guard, Jack is going to be one of the main characters interacting the the New Blood Group specifically. (Other than Ana cause of obvious reasons)
Despite them all obviously being concerned about Null Sector, all of them seemed to be more focused on Talon. Probably because most of them have been personally effected by Talon or a member of Talon, Cassidy and Baptiste are obvious, along with Pharah and what happened with Ana and Widow, but Zarya had her whole world view turned upside-down by Sombra. The only member of New Blood not personally effected by Talon is D.VA, and I don't think that's gonna last long.
So with that in mind I can see the New Blood group being very involved in missions involving Talon, meaning there could be a lot of cross over with Ana and Jack since they're main focus is also Talon. Also I do kind of Jack being very amused by Cassidy, Baptiste and Zarya going out of they're way to annoy Talon. An example being the stolen Talon Orca (yes this might just be me wanting more moments like that but still-)

Reaper: References
Alright so that “The game’s in the refrigerator” full audio came back around on my dash and I realized that not everyone probably recognizes Reaper’s references, so I figured I’d make this post to help pool sources and quotes, and also as a potential resource guide in the future.
Lots more under the cut!
A little bit of context
So as most Reaper/Gabriel Reyes fans know, Gabriel is from Los Angeles, California.  Los Angeles is the second-most-populated city in the United States (second only to New York City).  When the Spanish came, they founded a mission in the region named “Mission San Gabriel Arcángel” (wink wink) for the Archangel Gabriel, messenger of God.  For those of you unaware, the original route connecting for the 21 Californian Missions is called “El Camino Real,” or “The Way of Kings”/ “The Royal Way” - whether intentional or not, Gabriel’s last name of “Reyes” means “Kings” in Spanish.  The route is now historic and marked with bells that denote the way.
There are two major “valleys” in California - the Great Valley or Central Valley which spans the majority of the state, and is where the majority of California’s agriculture is grown, and the San Fernando Valley, which is the smaller valley where Los Angeles is located.  Californians can refer to either as simply “The Valley,” but more often than not when someone says they “went to the Valley,” or are “heading to the Valley,” they are referring to the San Fernando Valley.  Among American pop culture, “going to the Valley” is often a reference to someone heading to Los Angeles or Hollywood to try and become famous.
Lastly, Blizzard’s headquarters are located in Irvine, California, which is one smaller cities that make up the “Los Angeles metropolitan area.”  This is cheekily referenced in the Numbani map, where a flight from “Irvine, CA” is listed as “delayed” on the Airport’s board.  Meanwhile, the Los Angeles flight is still “on time” on the map’s flight board.
Gabriel’s first reference to his ties to L.A. is on the Hollywood map, where he will say the line “Home sweet home” occasionally.
The Los Angeles Lakers
It’s not surprising then that Gabriel is a fan of the Lakers, one of Los Angeles’ two professional NBA basketball teams.  The Lakers have been known to be a strong team for some time (although we can nitpicks over fluctuations in their status), and regardless of how someone might feel about them (...like me), the team has produced some of the greatest players and basketball games in the sport’s history.
Second Reference: “The game’s in the refrigerator.”
The full line is: “The game's in the refrigerator: the door’s closed, the lights out, the eggs are cooling, the butter's getting hard, and the Jell-O's jigglin'!” (note that this is Reaper’s exact line).  This is a nearly dead-on word-for-word quote from a LA Lakers’ commentator, Chick Hearn, who was known for his unique phrases.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick_Hearn
You can watch the original quote here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVi98BZ2OwA (against the Sacramento Kings!)
The meaning of the phrase is basically that “the game is pretty much over, we pretty much know who won.”
What’s fucking HILARIOUS about this is that by the time the “game” of Overwatch takes place (roughly 2076-2078) the line is almost NINETY YEARS OLD.  Reaper is making a fucking sports reference that, for him, occurred almost a century ago.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL.
Third reference (that may not be finalized): “Kobe, eat your heart out.”
https://clyp.it/y34uzzv0?token=d18fc817b96d0f98c6fd8b1e461a28a7
About 7 months ago, a user on reddit pulled a bunch of then-unused audio lines from the game ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/4sz7o8/i_extracted_some_of_the_audio_files_from_the/ ).  Some of them have been used (the Halloween and CNY lines).  Reaper, Lúcio, and Reinhardt have basketball reference audio lines that may or may not make to the game (March Madness event, maybe?).  Reaper’s line is a reference to one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Kobe Bryant, who just retired in 2016.  Kobe spent all 20 years of his professional basketball career on the Lakers and among most Americans is simply referred to as “Kobe.”  A fairly popular “slang term” among Californians (and other Americans) is to say the phrase “Kobe!” when taking a shot - at the hoop, at the trashcan, at...anything really.  The slang version was first popularized by Dave Chapelle, an American comedian.
http://full-lifeconsequences.tumblr.com/post/152446878702
Here, the McElroy Brothers demonstrate how the term is supposed to be used.
...It does not guarantee skill.
Sports, sports, sports!
And this is the one that got me thinkin’ about writing this, because I have yet to see ANYONE talk about this:
Fourth reference: “Welcome to the black hole.” / “Welcome to the Black Hole.”
I’ve offered an alternate version where the words “black hole” are capitalized because the phrase is almost certainly another sports reference.
Another Californian sports reference.
https://youtu.be/X_2hsVvBPS8?t=391 (time 6:30 - I haven’t actually heard him say this in-game tbh)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8rdZ8wBsr4
The most diehard, intense fans of the Oakland Raiders have been called “The Black Hole” for sometime now, due to the fact that they dress in the team’s dominant color of black, accented with silver and/or grey.  These are the primary colors Reaper dresses in as well.  The phrase “Welcome to the Black Hole” is used by these fans as, well, a greeting or a statement.
Oakland is pretty damn far from Los Angeles, but the LA Rams are...not as notorious as the Oakland Raiders.  Oakland is far closer to San Francisco in Northern California (on the other side of the San Francisco Bay).  It has quite the reputation in the U.S. for being a “rough city,” but recently there’s been quite a bit of changes in the area (the gentrification of Oakland and SF Bay as a whole is really not the point of this post).  The Raiders’ entire aesthetic matches Reaper’s to a tee.
Which comes to the next one:
Fifth Reference: “Just win, baby!”
“Just win, baby!” was the catchphrase of one of the most well-known Raiders’ coach Al Davis, who led the team to a era of success in the 60’s and 70’s.  This makes the quote literally over a century old for Reaper (dude’s a nerd, I’m telling you).
“Under Davis' management, the Raiders became one of the most successful teams in professional sports. His motto for the team was "Just win, baby."[1] Davis was active in civil rights, refusing to allow the Raiders to play in any city where black and white players had to stay in separate hotels. He was the first NFL owner to hire an African American head coach and a female chief executive. He was also the second NFL owner to hire a Latino head coach. He remains the only executive in NFL history to be an assistant coach, head coach, general manager, commissioner, and owner.” - Wikipedia on Al Davis
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RAlrzcdfRY
The Raiders are unfortunately currently in the process of trying to move to Las Vegas, Nevada unless the city of Oakland can meet the team’s requirements for staying.
Lights, camera, action
And just to round out the group, I’m gonna cover all my bases and get the easier ones out of the way too.
Sixth Reference: “I’m back in black.”
I kinda assume most people are familiar with this one, but in case you are not, this is a reference to the song “Back in Black” by AC/DC.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAgnJDJN4VA
(God damn, what a fucking good song)
Another song titled “Hell’s Bells” also came from the same album (“Back in Black”) as the song “Back in Black”...yeah it gets a little confusing at times.  The album “art” is easily among the most iconic albums of all time for both its drama and its simplicity:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/92/ACDC_Back_in_Black.png
Seventh Reference: “If it lives, I can kill it.”
This one is a reference to Arnold Schwarzenegger's line “If it bleeds, we can kill it.” from the movie Predator.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNr0WXQ3Ho4
Notably, Schwarzenegger is one of the more recent “Hollywood movie stars” to have become a prominent Californian politician.  (Also notably, the Soldier: 76 skin “Commando” is another reference to another Schwarzenegger film “Commando” - aka the original “Taken”.)
Eighth Reference: Death Blossom
This one was new to me too!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/5ufces/til_death_blossom_is_in_fact_an_actual_military/ddtjbzy/
“Death Blossom” is a reference from the movie “The Last Starfighter” as a “last-minute surprise attack” where all enemies are obliterated in a “guns-blazing” “death spin.”
https://youtu.be/nmPGuMGs8cg?t=125 (time: 2:05)
(Seriously, please watch the link, I’m begging you)
The term has been picked up by American military members as a reference to surprise attacks where someone goes in “guns-blazing” as a final-resort attack.
Ninth Reference: “I’m not a psychopath - I’m a high-functioning psychopath.”
Finally - a reference that isn’t already thirty to forty years old.  This one comes from the BBC series “Sherlock,” in which the modern version of Sherlock Holmes says as a retort to accusations that he’s a “crazy psychopath”: “I’m not a psychopath - I’m a high-functioning sociopath.”  (I believe modern psychology does not differentiate between the two anymore, although really, neither term is particularly medical or scholarly.)
Reaper’s turn-of-phrasing on this one is meant to be cheeky and sarcastic: he’s correcting people by pointing out that he’s not “not just a psychopath” but an “ultra, high-functioning psychopath.”  Interestingly, there’s a concept among the modern theories of psychopathy that there are “successful psychopaths” - people who have low empathy abilities, exhibit ruthless behaviors, and may manipulate others to get what they want, but typically have the social skills to stay out of jail for any crimes they may (or may not) commit.  The hypothesis argues that many CEOs, politicians, lawyers, etc. are possibly “successful psychopaths” who channel their behaviors into economic or social successes.
http://www.psychologicalscience.org/news/were-only-human/psychopath-successful-psychopath.html
“They found that fearless dominance was significantly associated with overall presidential performance, leadership, public persuasiveness, communication ability and willingness to take risks. Scientists have examined the relation between fearless dominance and “everyday heroism”—that is, altruism entailing social or physical risk, like administering CPR to a stranger in need. Fearless dominance was associated with such everyday heroism, and it was also associated with early wartime heroism among U.S. presidents.
“So are psychopaths and heroes simply “twigs from the same branch”? Perhaps, although the successful psychopath remains something of a scientific enigma. This provisional evidence points to some tantalizing possibilities, but we still do not know for sure why one person with pronounced psychopathic traits ends up as a habitual and cold-blooded criminal, while another ends up as the prototype for Agent 007.”
(Please note that this is not an academic, scholarly, or medical piece - merely a conversation-starter)
And last but not least:
Keith Ferguson, Reaper’s American voice actor, was born and continues to live in Los Angeles.
http://thebageltron.tumblr.com/post/145037436303/i-still-cant-believe-reaper-and-bloo-share-the
So the real question we need to be asking Blizzard is:
WHEN WILL REAPER GET A “It’s hot in Topeka” LINE.

Especially requests like those, I'll be glad to do it! Tumblr media
Ana
🍵Ana has seen it all, she just knows when her s/o has a rough week
🍵She's all the way here for her
🍵She makes her sit and asks her what happened
🍵she can be her shoulder to cry on if she needs to
🍵if she doesn't, that's alright as well. Ana is always here if she wants to vent or just talk about what happened
🍵If she is an Overwatch soldier, she's going to tell embarrassing stories about her comrades. Especially Reinhardt since she's been by his side for a lot of times
🍵And she knows he doesn't mind it too much
🍵If she's not, she's going to tell stories about her days as a vigilitante
"This tea is best if it's still hot," she informs her as she sips in her cup. She gives an umperceivabke nod, staring at the cup. She stares at her for a moment before placing down her cup.
"What is it?" She looks up and sighs.
"It's just- I don't know, it's just too much." She gestures at everything around them and she acknowledges it by nodding.
"Would you like to discuss it further?"
"I don't think I want to."
"That's alright, would you like to hear a story?" She crosses her arms on the table and places her head on them.
"Yeah, why not."
"As a sniper and as a support, I often have a wider view of the battlefield than my other teammates. That is because I am often in the back. You would not believe how many times I've seen them tripping on themselves or forgetting someone was watching over them. Especially Reinhardt. Always charging in, he even got himself stuck in a tree one time." She cracks a little smile. "I'm still surprised he didn't break that tree back then." She shakes her head in amusement.
"Let's talk a walk outside, the weather appears to be perfect for a little walk."
D.Va
🐰she might take a little bit of time to notice that her s/o is feeling down but once she does, she has her whole undivided attention
🐰gaming time!
🐰all the recommendations her viewers let on her stream or her other social media, she had already made a list to play it with s/o
🐰and right now, it seems like the best time to do it
🐰she has all genre, if she’s in the mood for horror games, she has many. Adventure or action? Don’t worry, she owns many of them
🐰if s/o just wants to watch her play game, she gladly does it. No stream, no camera, no light, just a little bit of action between her, s/o and her game
🐰if she’s busy and can’t be by her s/o’s side, she is sending tons of cute animals picture (bonus point if it is bunny ones)
🐰fanart!! She has tons of them and some of them include s/o so when she’s back she is going to show some of them
“Done with the game?” Hana asks quietly when she notices s/o is leaning on her shoulder. Her character in the game is immobile while she goes on the menu, having an idea of the answer s/o is going to give. Her answer comes out muffled but she somewhat hears a yes. She closes the game and switches off the screen.
“Wait here, I’ll come back in just a second. I need to show you something!” She gets up in a blink of an eye, heading toward the living room. S/o waits patiently, laying down on the couch.
A sudden portrait is shoved above her head so she could instantly see it. She blinks a few times, realizing it’s a portrait of them. It depicts them, in front of a temple in Busan. They’re both smiling and the light is shining of them. Hana is leaning on s/o while she’s holding them both stable. Their smiles is wide, their eyes crinkling a bit from their laughter. S/o recognizes it as a picture Hana posted on her social media but it’s clearly painted. The brushes’ strokes are still visible.
“Wow… that’s amazing.” She sits up while Hana hands her the portrait. She scans it and the more she observes it, the more beautiful it is.
“Right? It’s one of my subscribers who drew us.”
“Is that so? Could I get their handle? I want to thank them.” She points at the bottom of the painting.
“It’s here!” She chuckles and nods a bit, not noticing it before she pointed it out.
“Thanks.” She gives her a little kiss on the cheek.
“No problem!”
Ashe
🧨 Ashe is a busy woman but she tries her best to be here
🧨she would never want her partner to feel neglected
🧨Especially at times like this
🧨If it is someone that has bothered her, you can be sure they'll be taken care of somehow
🧨She leaves her hat to her care and it's a way for her to show she trusts her and her way to show her affection
🧨Once she's done with that, she's going to treat her based on her s/o's preferences. Fancy restaurants? For sure. Go shopping? Hell yeah. Just chilling? She's not a fan of that but if it is for her s/o, of course she'll do it
🧨She asks B.O.B to tell everyone to leave them alone for a moment and they usually comply
🧨Today and for the rest of the week, it's her s/o and only her that matters
"What got you so upset treasure?" Ashe just came back from a heist, upon seeing her s/o's frown and body language, she knew something is up as soon as she entered their shared house. S/o snaps her head to the side, surprised upon seeing Ashe here. She didn't hear her come through.
"I-it's nothing much, don't worry." She approaches her, raising one of her eyebrows in suspicion before letting a chuckle.
"Yeah, right. Nothing much, huh? Who is it? I can go give them a few 'words'."
"Just one of my coworkers." She gives her a nod, muttering something under her breath. She places her hat on her head and she's by the door once again.
"I'll be back pumpkin, if you need anything in the meantime, just call B.O.B." S/o doesn't know if it is a good idea of telling her who it is but it's too late anyways. Soon enough, she drifts into sleep.
Once Ashe is back, she notices her sleeping on the couch, the hat on her belly. She smirks at this then heads toward her. She scoops her in her arms, heading to the bedroom. S/o snuggles closer to her, while still being asleep.
"I gotcha treasure."
Mercy
🕊️ Here comes another busy woman, though Angela has the chance to be able to see her s/o more often than not
🕊️ Her doctor's side often takes the upper hand.
🕊️ She's going to ask her tons of questions. If she is eating well if she drinks enough water and sleep enough hours.
🕊️It's only when she notices it isn't a medical treatment she needs she's going to let out a soft "oh"
🕊️ She's going to drop everything she can and lead her s/o outside
🕊️ Fresh air always helps her and she believes it might be the same for her
🕊️ She finds a green patch and lets her s/o lies down on her lap while she brushes her hair
🕊️ She does this game of asking her what she sees in the clouds, what forms and when they're done, she's going to prepare some drinks and a hearty meal for the both of them
"Let's get outside, alright Liebling?" S/o is too tired to give another answer and she follows Angela. She holds her hand while rubbing her thumb against the back of her hand.
"This should do it, would you sit beside me?" She points to a patch of grass near the sea. The breeze is salty. Angela sits first and s/o follows suit. She hums a little tune while she's looking at the landscape. S/o stares at her lover and she returns the look.
"Is something on your mind?" She shrugs while looking at the landscape.
"It's just-" she ruffles her hair before sighing heavily. "it's getting hard…" she finishes while laying on Angela's lap.
"I can understand. At least, you won't have to go through this week ever again. Just take it one day at a time dear, you're doing great, trust me." She kisses her on the lips for a brief moment while smiling brightly. S/o cracks a smile and nods.
"Yeah. Thanks Angela," she whispers out and she returns the nod with a brighter smile.

Definitive OW fursona post
There will be no arguing, I am simply right
Ana - starting out boring, but it is indeed a shrike. Swift and watching from on high, doing things that others deem brutal but only out of necessity
Ashe - Yellow mongoose, a clever little fella with utterly wild eyes
Baptiste - Water Buffalo. Specifically because I, ow-anteater, op of this post, have an early childhood memory of watching a nature documentary where water buffalos protected an injured member of their herd and they’re still marked as the most helpful, kindest animal out there in my mind
Bastion - Brown bear. Big, heavily armed from nature. Still kind of bumbling to look at
Brigitte - Red deer, big and strong and still pretty neat looking. Also, surprisingly tall
Cassidy - Some form of non-diamond back rattlesnake, a Mexican lancehead maybe. It’s dramatic, cowboy-adjacent and probably very bad at playing guitar
D.va - a bee, but the bug-ness is emphasized much more in the design than the cuteness
Doomfist - sand tiger shark. Strong and intimidating and eerily beautiful. Also, the best shark
Echo - Cuddlefish. Smart, cute and adaptable, cute but also of an intelligence inherently alien to humans
Genji - Giant flying squirrel, they’ve got it all; incredibly airborne acrobatics and a look like they posses infinite wisdom and also might do something impulsive
Hanzo - Harpy eagle. Big and scary but also looks like it takes itself a tad too seriously. Would kill you in a heartbeat for being lazy and useless (represented by being the natural predator of sloths)
Junkrat - Hammond
Lúcio - Crested newt; just like a frog, but funkier and longer
Mei - Mountain hare; sweet and cute and also looks like it knows many important secrets
Mercy - Some type of ant, one of those with a nice color like red or something. Incredible work ethic, devoted to the community
Moira - A hairless cat that is definitely not purebred sphynx. It’s cute in a weird way? Looks regal and dignified in an even stranger way. It’s definitely planning something
Orisa - Either the obvious one of some sort of Buffalo or oxen; strong and dependable. Could also be a Pyrenean donkey or similar donkey breed
Pharah - A big ol’ crocodile. Patient and powerful and beautiful in a way that is intimidating to men
Reaper - A horse but in like the most pretentious way. It’s specifically a white horse, sometimes three legged “inspired” by a Helhorse
Reinhardt - Scottish highland bull, the horns are comically large
Roadhog - A rat, specifically the giant rat that makes all of the rules
Sigma - Big, slightly weird looking dog. A borzoi or something similar with the long face and a look somewhere between dignified and utterly apologetic
Soldier: 76 - Also a dog, originally a golden retriever because ‘haha blonde’ but morphed over time into some type of really big, scary looking but ultimately benign mutt
Sombra - Vampire squid, both intimidating and has a scary name, but could easily be made into a cutesy little pixel art sprite!
Symmetra - Axis/chital deer, regal and kind of ethereal. Impeccably symmetrical antlers
Torbjörn - European badger, compact and persistent. Looks like it’s smart
Tracer - Common tern. Graceful and agile and fast, it also has a fun little hat build into the design
Widowmaker - A honeycomb moray, slender and elegant in a distinctly slightly creepy way. Patient and dangerous and also a tad silly looking from some angles
Winston - NOT a monkey, but rather something like a fancy goldfish or another sociable, personable and nice looking fish. Alternatively, a human man
Wrecking Ball - A furby, if the fur is attached or not varies
Zarya - Strong, compact cold weather horse or pony. Something like a Yakutian horse. Strong and relentless and loyal to a fault
Zenyatta - Australian spotted jellyfish. Beautiful and serene, kind of alien to most humans

While these are not all the fandoms I'm in, these are the ones I'm most comfortable with writing about
Some rules:
I may or may not write smut? I'm not sure since I haven't really done it, but I will NOT write smut for characters under the age of 21
I won't write anything that has to do with the reader being super OP or being half of like, literally everything
When it comes to Y/N being an anthropomorphic animal/human or half of that, if stuff like that is canon in the fandom, then I'll write it (like a half human half monster for Undertale, or a Cat person for TMNT) but if stuff like that just doesn't exist in that world, then I most likely won't write it
I won't write a character being a racist, rapist, homophobic, transphobic or anything like that, those things are fucked up and aren't ok and that character I may write, might be someone else's comfort character and I don't want to ruin a character for someone
I won't write a character as being an abuser, sure, I could say they where abused some way in the past if it is relevant to the fic, but I will not write a character being an abuser themselves, that's just not right
I won't write yandere characters, it just feels to toxic to me to have someone be THAT possessive of someone
If a character is canonically underage, I will not age them up, if a reader or character is being romantically shipped with the underage character, the reader/character must and will be underage as well
(Keep in mind I might add rules or change certain rules)
I can do:
LGBTQ+(THIS ABSOLUTELY INCLUDES ASEXUAL AND AROMANTIC)
Any gender for reader, if not specified, I shall do gender neutral
I will write angst and mental health related topics of asked
I will absolutely 100% write a character or reader with ADHD and other neurodiversities
I can do shipping fanfics! Although, it depends on the characters, but I may be able to write it, even if I don't entirely agree with the ship! AS LONG as it is not anything like AbuserXvictim or MinorXadult or anything like that.
As a writer, I hope that I may advance in my writing skills, as well as have fun with what I write, so, I ask as many requests as your heart's desire!
Remember, I have every right as a writer to deny a request if I'm not comfortable with writing it.

Hero Info Pages Part 2
Something I’ve always found interesting are the hero info pages for Overwatch characters. There’s a lot of details in these clips that either set up a trend that follows the hero’s character, a trend about the overarching struggles in Overwatch, or seemingly have no foundation in the lore but most certainly can be entertaining to think about how it could fit in the lore.
Part 1 can be found here.
Soldier is very straight forward, and we can see that in his Ultimate.
Tumblr media
Tac Visor shows Soldier attacking Reaper first, then Widowmaker, then Hanzo. What I take from this is that Soldier prioritizes Talon above other criminals, and prioritizes Reaper above other members of Talon. I actually really like the composition of Reaper in front, Widow just outside of the circle, and Hanzo way off to the side, because this composition is half of why the clip is important.
For both the primary fire and the Helix Rockets, Reaper is the target. Soldier’s entire story and motivation is hunting Reaper down.
The clip for Soldier’s Biotic Field also confirms that he still has a sense of helping others and allies as he heals Tracer, Winston, and McCree. The location for all the clips is Dorado, which refers back to his cinematic, Hero, where he helped the little girl. Both of these things reinforces that Soldier is still a hero at heart even if he’s a “man on a mission” and that mission is Reyes.
Mercy’s hero info page is incomplete. That’s something to note. The clips are old clips and don’t change with updates to the game. Some abilities are not visually shown how they work. You just get a description and that’s it. For Mercy, there are no clips for her Ultimate Valkyrie, or her Resurrect ability.
With that in mind, there are still clips for her staff, blaster, and Guardian Angel which showcase other heroes.
Mercy uses Guardian Angel to fly up to Tracer, and she heals Tracer with her Caduceus Staff. When she uses left click, Tracer is attacking Reinhardt.
Tumblr media
Now, I don’t particularly think that Angela has anything against Rein. I think this can be explained away as training or testing out new equipment because they are on Gibraltar.
However, I think that showing Roadhog rather than Reinhardt would have fit better for these clips considering that Mercy uses her Caduceus Blaster to shoot down Junkrat, a criminal.
Echo is the newest character in the game, and her hero info shows some interesting things.
Firstly, her Tri-Shot primary fire shows her attacking Tracer and Reaper. I can’t explain this as training since it’s in the same clip. Echo is not training with Reaper anytime soon.
So why is Echo attacking Tracer in this clip? Maybe it’s to show that Echo can lean one way or another depending on how she grows as a character. She is a constantly learning AI program. It can also be yet another metaphor for AI programs going rogue. Mina Liao, the scientist who made Echo, infused some of herself into Echo’s creation. Dr. Liao was also the one who created the omnics in the first place, and the omnics had gone rogue after years of mistreatment which started the Omnic Crisis.
Echo attacking both Tracer and Reaper could hint at more omnic uprising, or just another memory of the first Omnic Crisis and subsequent Omnic Uprising as seen in King’s Row.
Her Ultimate Duplicate is fascinating. From left to right, Echo is against Sigma, Doomfist, Tracer, Moira, and Roadhog.
Tumblr media
Echo Duplicates Tracer, then shoots Roadhog for ult charge, and sticks Tracer to kill the other four. I’m not about to say that Echo dislikes Tracer. That’s just not what’s up here. Tracer is being used here because the community is very comfortable with Tracer, and Echo was new. They wanted to display this ult with someone they knew the community would understand.
That being said… What could this mean?
I think that we could read this clip as Echo accidentally killing or hurting a teammate. That would be awful and sad, but better than the second idea that Echo would sacrifice a teammate just to catch the criminals.
Her Sticky Bombs kill Sombra and Hanzo, and her Focusing Beam finishes Roadhog. This all takes place on Gibraltar, which I think helps accentuate that she’s new and learning. Route 66, where we first met her in the Reunion Cinematic, would have been a nice map to showcase her abilities, too, but they choose Gibraltar, probably to reinforce the fact that she is apart of the new Overwatch team thanks to the Recall.
Hey, Tracer, why are you shooting Zenyatta?
There’s two reasons I can place for Zenyatta being Tracer’s opponent when showcasing Tracer’s abilities. The first is the overarching theme of omnics versus humans, and that theme really permeates when shown repeatedly on King’s Row where we know Mondatta was assassinated and an Omnic Uprising occurred.
Her Ultimate only calls back to the Mondatta assassination as Tracer attaches a Pulse Bomb to Zenyatta, and it kills Widowmaker and Hanzo as well.
Tumblr media
Widowmaker and Hanzo, you say? Widowmaker, the one who killed Mondatta, and Hanzo, another known sniper and assassin?
It seems to me that these clips are not meant to show Tracer’s allegiances, but more to continue the themes we see throughout Overwatch. These clips only hammer home the stories we already knew. A sniper killed Mondatta, a prominent speaker and activist, and King’s Row is home to omnic and human tensions.
Lucio has a whole info page about helping Overwatch, who will become his new friends. To start, Lucio uses Sound Barrier to gives shields to Tracer and Soldier.
Tumblr media
There’s not much to say about that on its own, so let’s continue on.
Lucio uses both Crossfade and Amp It Up to heal and speed up Tracer, but he uses his Sonic Amplifier and Soundwave against Winston.
I think this is Lucio showing the Overwatch team his gear and how he can be helpful on missions with them. That would explain the full Overwatch hero cast in his clips. Lucio himself is a hero of his hometown, and we know with the upcoming Overwatch 2 that Lucio and the recalled team are buddies and working together. It makes sense that Lucio would take some time to show his new friends how his gear works.
Reinhardt is, thankfully, relatively quick to talk about.
His primary target in his clips? It’s Hanzo. Hanzo is a mercenary, an assassin, a criminal, but he’s not apart of Talon. The reason I say this is because Reinhardt is specifically attacking a criminal with no interest in Talon because Reinhardt was still working after leaving Overwatch. His work switched from fighting rogue AI and Talon to fighting regular criminals like Hanzo.
That’s doesn’t mean that he’s not going to attack Talon.
Tumblr media
Reinhardt uses his Earth Shatter to stun Reaper, Hanzo, and Widowmaker, so he obviously will still attack Talon even if he’s no longer an Overwatch member.
Hardest thing to explain in these clips is the setting of King’s Row. Really, I think the only reason Reinhardt wasn’t placed on, say, Eichenwalde, was because Eichenwalde came out after the game’s release. So there just wasn’t a better map for Reinhardt at the time. Still, King’s Row isn’t a bad place considering that there was an omnic uprising there and Reinhardt was one of the heroes who went on that mission.
Ana... I love you, Ana, but what’s happening here? Ana’s clips are buck wild. I don’t know where to begin. I’ll add a Read More, since this is so long already.
I guess we start with Biotic Rifle. Firstly, she heals Reinhardt, and then she kills Soldier. When zoomed in, she heals Tracer, and only shoots Pharah twice, not enough to kill.
What a lot to unpack.
I think this shows that she’s good friends with Reinhardt, just as they have been for years. She is the only one of Reinhardt’s friends to apologize to him about faking her death after all. Attacking Soldier and killing him could be a sign that Ana and Soldier, though friends, do not share the same thoughts about something. My guess is that Ana thinks Soldier’s mission is too much for him, that she thinks he needs to stop before he gets himself killed. That does align with more recent releases where Ana is helping him but also checking him when Solder pushes too hard. Healing Tracer seems obvious since Ana is still a healer and Tracer is a well respected hero, but attacking Pharah is interesting. I think Ana attacking her daughter is actually a figurative way of saying that the two don’t get along. Ana doesn’t kill Pharah, just injures her, and I think this is there to show their strained relationship even though Ana still cherishes her daughter.
Much of everything after this is speculation. Like I said, Ana’s clips are wild.
Ana sleeps Zarya. Perhaps this is to show that Ana, an old soldier, is tired herself. I think targeting a younger soldier like Zarya implies that Ana thinks the fighting and wars are exhausting. Maybe this is Ana not so subtly telling the younger soldier that they need to take care of themselves, too, much like she gets on Soldier about him talking care of himself.
The Biotic Grenade is wild. She smashes the grenade at Lucio, Winston, and Roadhog to show the healing properties, but then uses it offensively against D.Va to show that Mercy can’t heal the mech. This entire clip has thrown me for a loop. I can’t particularly explain it.
Perhaps she heals Roadhog because Roadie was once a soldier in ALF, and she can not blame him or others like him who attacked omnics to defend themselves back in the day. Perhaps they might have met back then, which I think would have been interesting to explore. But then why hinder D.Va’s healing? Maybe she thinks D.Va, a 19 year old, shouldn’t be fighting on the front lines. Ana views her as a child, just like Soldier and Reaper do, and thinks that Hana shouldn’t have to fight wars for adults.
I think Mercy being the one healing D.Va is a reference to Mercy disliking how Ana uses Mercy’s research in a weapon like the Biotic Rifle. This puts them at odds with one another. On the other side, Lucio is likely there to show the amplified healing from the grenade, but maybe this also shows that Ana respects Lucio as a hero. Finally, Winston was an old friend.
Lastly, her Ultimate, Nano Boost. She Boosts Reinhardt, and Reinhardt kills McCree, Zenyatta, Tracer, and Soldier.
Tumblr media
Ana deserves her own post at this point. Why are they attacking these four people? Ana just healed Tracer with her rifle not too long ago.  For this bizarre clip, I have no reasoning, so lets see what this COULD mean.
I could explain this as Overwatch tearing itself apart. In this case, four of the five people in this fight are Overwatch members, and that only leaves Zenyatta. Maybe killing Zenyatta here is the representation of harmony and diplomacy being broken.
Perhaps this is more about Ana and Rein than it is about the opponents. Maybe Ana’s faked death made Rein incredibly upset. Maybe this clip represents Rein never letting it go. Maybe Rein, for a while, blamed Overwatch (represented by Soldier and Tracer) and Blackwatch (represented by McCree) for her death. Again, Zen’s death would represent a lack of harmony.
Overall, these are my thoughts on this set of characters. There are still over half of the cast left, and I think the remaining Talon members are next.

Okay, it’s time for some deep nerdery to speculate about Overwatch 2
Overwatch 2 has 30+ characters. That’s one hell of a large ensemble. If Blizzard had any brain cells, they would probably try and take a similar approach to how Marvel handled their large cast in Avengers: Infinity War.
Remember Infinity War? It functioned as a movie by keeping its groups of characters small (at most five people per group) but also by choosing ‘main characters’ that it focused most of its emotional energy on (most notably, Ironman, Dr. Strange, Vision, Thor, Thanos, and Gamora). The main characters were the ones with emotional arcs and therefore had the most screentime. The rest of the cast was quite static. Also, characters in different groups rarely, if ever got to interact with any characters outside of their group, with the rare exception of a quip or two.
My suspicion is that Overwatch 2 is going to do a VERY similar thing. This means that the roster of Overwatch heroes are going to be divided up into groups and assigned either main character or side character status.
So who’s going to be in each group? That I can’t tell you. As Marvel has shown, characters are grouped up not based on character compatibility, or even arc potential, but instead on what would best make the plot go forward. (For example, raise your hand if you predicted that Ironman, Spiderman, and Dr. Strange would team up with Starlord, Mantis, and Drax for the climax. No one? That’s what I thought.)
What I can predict, however, is whether each Overwatch hero is going to be given main character status or not. My predictions are going to be based on lore importance and current emotional arcs that have been set up the Overwatch continuity. Unfortunately, fan favoritism or previous screen time is not a good indicator (again, as shown in Infinity War.: raise your hand if you predicted that Captain F*cking America would have less than fifteen minutes screentime?) and therefore will not be counted in my evaluation.
NOTE: It is assumed that the plot of Overwatch 2 will be the plot that was introduced in the Zero Hour short, along with the gameplay trailer.
I’ll go tank/damage/support, alphabetically through each section.
D.va- Oh, poor D.va. Unfortunately, I think she’s just going to be a side character. Being so unconnected with the rest of the cast is a death sentence for plot importance. The only way I can see her being a major player is in an indirect way- if Blizzard decides to focus on the “Omnic From the Sea” they teased at in the short Shooting Star.
Orisa- Orisa is not so cleanly cut. Given that she was created to defeat Doomfist, she has potential to be the one who takes him down. They’re narrative and thematic rivals (an analysis of which could be a whole other post) which made me finally decide that she’ll be main character status. I know that seems like a cop-out, but given how Doomfist is the main face of villainy, her connection with him makes her important.
Reinhardt- I’m going to be massacred for this, but I don’t see any universe where Reinhardt is a main character. His character is static, his connection with old Overwatch is the most flimsy out of the oldies, and most of his backstory has already been explored. He’s going to be a side character, relegated to a mentor to Brigitte.
Roadhog- Nope. Side character. He and Junkrat fall into the same boat. Not being a part of Overwatch and having no connections to any characters in Overwatch makes more than passing screentime impossible.
Sigma- OUR BOY SIGMA is going to get no screentime, calling it right now. He’s going to be firmly relegated to side character status. Why? Although he might be a serious fan favorite, his lore and the conflict it introduces (the cosmic horror of the universe) doesn’t really apply to the rest of Overwatch. We know he’s affiliated with Talon, but more like a weapon than a character. He’s got serious redemption potential, but the arc would be very. . . simple. As soon as he gets to Overwatch the arc would be over.
Winston- MAIN CHARACTER. Our mans is currently the driving force behind the majority of the plot (that isn’t whatever Talon’s doing). He’s the one who recalled Overwatch. Enough said. If he doesn’t get an arc about learning how to be a leader, I am going to be shocked.
Wrecking Ball- lol side character. Given how Blizzard hasn’t made any attempt to treat him more than a walking gimmick, he’s going to be such a side character that he might blend into the background.
Zarya- This is another character that makes me hesitate. At first glance, she’s in the same boat as D.va in that she has no personal connections with the lore or the main cast. HOWVER, she’s directly involved in the conflict of Overwatch 2 because she is currently fighting Omnics in Russia AND has been trying to track down Talon on her own for a while now. Plus, she also has a very juicy potential character arc: she’s racist towards Omnics. Her comic touched on the fact that she has the potential to outgrow her prejudice. This leads me to believe that Zarya is going to be one of the main characters, if a more minor one than the rest.
---
Ashe- Side character. Her connection to McCree ensures that she’ll get some juicy interactions, but not enough to be considered a main character. More than likely she’ll be contacted to help out with the plot conflict, but she’s not going to have any sort of arc or emotional connection with other characters beyond snarky one-liners.
Bastion- . . . I hate this, but I don’t trust Blizzard to give Bastion the relevance they deserve as a character. Don’t get me wrong, I think Bastion will be important to the plot of stopping the rogue Omnics, but I think Bastion themselves will be treated as a McGuffin. They’re mute and prone to acting naively, which is not conducive to character agency. I’m going treat McGuffin as a third category to my predictions.
Doomfist- literally the Thanos of this conflict. He’s going to be a main character, but I doubt he’ll get any character development, because that’s what Reaper is for.
Echo- Main character. It’s pretty much guaranteed by the fact that McCree sought her out in his animated short and that she was once the payload of Route 66. The Overwatch narrative also treats her as the “sPeCiAl OmNiC” that’s somehow more advanced/better/more sentient than the rest of the Omnic cast. As much as I think the role that they’re going to give her would be better suited for Bastion or Zenyatta, I just know that Blizzard is going to give her the full main character treatment. She’s going to be the magical bridge between Omnics and humans. Count me mad about it.
Genji- I love our ninja boy, and he’s an honorary mascot of the game, but as far as arcs go he just finished his. He’s finally found inner peace. That’s not a good sign for main-character-ism. However, he has tons and tons of connections to the rest of the cast and the lore. . . but I don’t think it’s enough. I think he’s going to end up as the character that other characters are able to bounce off of. Everybody knows him, so they’ll be talking to him a lot, but he isn’t going to drive the plot with his own struggles. He’s a side character. His brother, however. . .
Hanzo- As one of the two people in the Overwatch roster actively undergoing a serious life crisis, I suspect that Hanzo is going to be a main character. The fact that he and his goals are not connected to Talon or Overwatch is a detractor, but his emotional turmoil as established in the short Dragons is too important too ignore. His decisions, however reckless and hot-headed they will be, will significantly impact the plot. Why? Because his potential for redemption is such juicy story bait. Also, he could bring in an entire other faction, the Shimada Clan, into the plot, and that could be a game-changer.
Junkrat- Side character. The same reasoning for Roadhog applies here. He’s not connected in any way to the cast. The only potential mystery about him is the ‘treasure’ that’s been alluded to over and over again. If he has this story bait, why am I calling him a side character? Unfortunately, it’s because his ‘treasure’, whatever it is, is going to be a McGuffin. Junkrat’s going to be lucky if he avoids the same status.
McCree- A side character, but an important one. This decision was a difficult one. He’s got the lore and the connections to the other characters but not the internal character arc. He was an active player in unleashing Echo, but it’s also hinted at that he isn’t going to join the recalled Overwatch, instead striking out to do his own thing. That’s not conducive to being a major player in the story. However, his connections and conversations with other characters might, in the same way I’ve predicted Genji’s might, motivate other characters to drive the plot forward.
Mei- Side character. Nothing much else to say. Her focus on climate science isn’t going to be super relevant to the Omnic plot. She’s got only a very loose connection with other characters in the form of her Overwatch membership.
Pharah- I hate this, I hate this, I hate this, but she’s going to be a side character, calling it right now. She’s got so much potential because of her relationship with her mom, but that’s about it. Ana is her only connection to the rest of the cast. It’s important that they reconcile, but their reconciliation has nothing to do with any other plot point. It’s isolated. That’s not a good sign for her screen time, especially considering that she’s not looking for Ana and Ana is not looking for her.
Reaper- MAIN CHARACTER. You should have seen this coming. As the primary instigator of the plot (aka the reason Winston recalled Overwatch,) it should be meta-textually obvious why he’s going to have a lot of screentime. He’s directly responsible for a significant chunk of the unresolved lore conflict within old Overwatch. In order to resolve it, we’re going to be seeing him, a lot.
Soldier 76- Main character, for exactly the reasons listed above. As Reaper’s foil and the person who’s hunting him down, Soldier is going to be pretty important in concluding that unresolved conflict. It’s destiny. Like in a murder-soulmates kinda way.
Sombra- Tricky, tricky, tricky. . . it’s difficult to say. It all depends, I think, on the amount of emphasis Blizzard places on her conspiracy. If she’s the only character who knows exactly what’s going on, that could set her up to be very plot relevant. However, her relationship with other characters and to the rest of the Overwatch lore is shaky at best. I’m going to leave this one blank. There’s just too much we don’t know.
Symmetra- Here we have the other person in the Overwatch roster that is actively undergoing a serious life crisis that I alluded to. Symmetra might at first seem unrelated to everything- the lore, the characters, etc, but Blizzard has set up a surefire redemption arc for her that needs to be resolved. She is going to realize that Vishkar and Talon are connected, and she is going to make the decision to either go full villain (unlikely) or to turn over all the information she knows to Overwatch. Either way, she’s going to get involved, and she’s going to grow as a character. Main character material.
Torbjorn- Torbjorn, oh Torbjorn. Here’s a case that makes me upset. For all intents and purposes, he should be a main character. He’s the one who helped develop the Omnics, and he’s got an active character arc where he’s trying to undo the damage Omnics have caused. This ties him pretty damn directly to what we know of the plot of Overwatch 2. However, Blizzard lately has refused to treat him with respect, reducing him to a joke character because of his height and accent. Not only that, but they diminished his importance in the lore with the invention of Mina Liao and Echo. I could write and entire post about how the Mina Liao/Echo introduction was made to replace Torbjorn and Bastion’s importance in the potential plot, but all of three people would read it.
Tracer- As the literal face of Overwatch it’s pretty damn obvious that she’s going to be a main character. If you need a reminder, look at the London Calling comics and then the cover art for your copy of Overwatch.
Widowmaker- Widowmaker has literally zero character agency and only very very very loose connections with the lore/characters. HOWEVER, she does have the potential to be redeemed by death (I could make a whole other post on this) but it’s not enough to bring her into major character territory. Side character.
---
Ana- Side character. Given that she’s avoiding her potential emotional arc by avoiding Pharah and the rest of recalled Overwatch, she’s flat out of luck for main-character-ism. She’s going to be very important to Soldier 76 and Reaper but she won’t be the one instigating any plot points. Unfortunate.
Baptiste- Another tally for the side characters. The fact that it took him a year to even get voice interactions with the rest of the cast reflects this. His arc of leaving Talon is already done, the idea of Mauga being added to the game is history by now, and he has few connections with the current cast and plot. Big F, my dude.
Brigitte- With both her dad and her mentor being important former Overwatch members, it makes sense that she should be a main character, right? Right? Unfortunately, I think she falls into the same pitfalls as Reinhardt. Her backstory is already mostly explored and her dad is better at any plot-relevant mechanics that might be needed. She’ll help her dad, no doubt, but she’s a side character.
Lucio- I really want Lucio to be a main, really, I do, but he’s a side character. He suffers the same exact problem that D.va does. He has very little to involve him with the rest of the main caste. He’ll join Overwatch, sure, but I think it’ll be more of a decorative declaration than anything. His connection with Symmetra is his only saving grace, but even that just relegates him as a side character in her emotional arc.
Mercy- I think she’s going to be a side character, because all of her current content has her separated from everyone else and unsure about going back to recalled Overwatch. I don’t see the narrative following her inner emotional turmoil about this decision very much. She also doesn’t add anything to the potential plot.
Moira- Okay, Moira is tricky, so hear me out: her lore importance is off the CHARTS, and she’s a lot like Doomfist in the aspect that she is quite clearly villainous. She brainwashed Widowmaker. She turned Reaper into what he is today (physically, mind you,) and she probably has something to do with manipulating Sigma. But is being a villain enough? She’s not the one directly orchestrating Talon’s plan, like Doomfist is. And she’s not so directly connected to the fall of Overwatch like Reaper is. I hesitate to call her a main. Narratively, she’s going to get her comeuppance, but. . . (I’m going to leave this one blank.)
Zenyatta- The only true wild card on this list. Sure, I’ve left Sombra and Moira blank, but Zenny boy? He’s literally got nothing. There’s nothing to base predictions off of. No lore to speak of. We know that he mentored Genji. We know that he knew Mondatta. We know that he defends Omnics’ rights to exist. However, I doubt Blizzard has the nuance to tackle his perspective on the impending Omnic war in Overwatch 2. He could be a seriously major player if he was treated with the respect that his character deserves, though! He could potentially have an active role in trying to figure out what’s making the Omnic uprising occur and stopping it in its tracks! There is so much potential there! It’s all in Blizzard’s hands. It’s all about how Blizzard chooses to finally flesh out his character. . . IF they flesh out his character at all.
---
Total tally out of 32
Main characters: 11
Side characters: 17
Undecided: 3
McGuffin: 1 (poor Bastion)
And that’s the results! It’s important to note that I am far from infallible and that these are just my opinions/speculations on the future. Please please please argue with me in the tags/reblogs. That would make my day.

Overwatch and Among Us Part 2
So I may be a little addicted to Among Us, and before I knew it I made these prompts for all the characters playing this game.
You can read Part 1 here.
Characters in this prompt: D.va, Doomfist, Echo, Genji and Hanzo.
D.va | Hana Song
Tumblr media
As Crewmate:
Hana hates being the Crewmate. She’s the type to leave the game when she sees she’s not Impostor.
Nevertheless, there will be times she’ll stay when she’s playing with friends or fans, and will even stream the game on her streaming platform (racking up to a good five hundred thousand views as well).
“I swear to god it’s either Jamison or McCree. They’re acting waaaaay too sus, chat.”
Hana trusts Soldier a little too much.
“Huh? What do you mean it’s the old man? Psh, it’s not him I saw him do ta-- WHAT THE HELL IT IS THE OLD MAN!”
She doesn’t really vouch for anyone’s innocence without proof, but she knows a liar when she hears one.
And she’ll scream on her mic when she sees the Impostor in the act, and spam match chat with ineligible, caps lock ASDFGHJKL’s.
As Impostor:
Now THIS is what Hana wants to play as.
She can be especially good at this too. She can do all the killing, the sabotaging, and the lying with ease.
Pair her up with either Brig, Lucio and, weirdly enough, Hanzo, and they’ll be an unstoppable force.
If her duo made a mistake, she can cover up for them as long as they don’t expose her as well.
If Soldier is a Crewmate, she’ll make sure to kill him first because she knows how easily he can guess its her.
“Let’s get that W, chat!”
Doomfist | Akande Ogundimu
Tumblr media
As Crewmate:
It’s actually very difficult to have Doomfist as a Crewmate, because people suspect him ALL THE TIME.
It’s also very rare for him to play this game; with running Talon, doing missions and probably throwing people off the roof, if you see him in-game prepare to be intimidated a lot.
Even so, he’s calm and collected; he’ll do his tasks efficiently, and will sometimes hangout in admin to check where everyone’s gone to.
If you are the Impostor and you vented, pray that Doomfist wasn’t on admin or else; he’ll smoke you out smoothly and efficiently.
So if you’re the Imp, try to kill him first for some easy wins.
If Sombra is in his game, instant doubt.
Nevermind, he doubts everyone; Talon or Overwatch, even if he saw them do tasks.
Most likely to get booted out of the airlock by the Imps for being scarily good at accusations.
As Impostor:
Literally one hit k.o’s his victims aka: appearing from out of nowhere by getting out of a vent and then killing immediately.
Doomfist doesn’t kill a lot of victims per round. He sabotages to make sure nobody will discover his kills until there were like, two disasters happening in the same time. He’s also the type to self-report after nobody’s discovered the body for a long time.
Be careful with his lies. You might be playing into his trap without knowing, and in the end he’ll always try to come out on top, kicking the skeptics out and killing those naive fools.
Works well with his Talon colleagues, but will have difficulty if his partner Imp is from Overwatch. He also has no problem kicking his partner Imp out the airlock once they’re suspicious to the main crew.
He’s the type to sabotage Reactor a lot.
Echo
Tumblr media
As Crewmate:
Incredibly efficient with finishing tasks; her particular favorite place to do tasks are Weapons and Navi.
While she figures out tasks faster than the average person, she doesn’t actually know who to trust until they claim during emergency meetings that they were doing tasks. She doesn’t understand some of the slang such as ‘doing shields’ or ‘garbage’.
If she sees the Imp in the act of venting, she’ll not-so-innocently corner Impostors during meetings.
“Hey, McCree, how did you do that?”
“Do what?”
“You went inside the vent, that was really cool.”
Of course she knows the mechanics of the game, she just finds it funny seeing and hearing the reactions coming from her fellow crewmates.
Because of this, she’s most likely to offer useful information on Imps instead of defending someone.
As Impostor:
Echo doesn’t kill, but she can be scary with sabotaging. That is why she’ll need an aggressive partner to do all the killing, while keeping the crewmates away from the bodies. McCree comes to mind, even Pharah or Winston.
She can’t really fake her tasks well, thus getting her booted out early in the game, but be warned. With her as a ghost she can freely sabotage facilities and lock doors to help her fellow Imp.
You would want her to be the last Imp if you’re a Crewmate, otherwise it would feel kinda annoying to lose to her as the only survivor.
Genji Shimada
Tumblr media
As Crewmate:
Speedy boi coming up. He’ll actually request at the very beginning (not healing, thank god) to crank up the movement speed if it’s not to his liking. He and Lucio became fast friends because of this.
He used to spend a lot of time fooling around when he was younger so games aren’t a problem to him; it’s just that team games are little difficult for him to comprehend.
His baseless accusations often make him lose rather than win.
“I think it’s McCree.”
“Why do you think so, Genji?”
“He’s taking too long with the card swipe thing.”
Also he follows Hanzo a lot, causing Hanzo to sus him and eventually vote him out.
If Hanzo is an Imp, he won’t believe it until he’s killed someone right in front of him.
All in all, not a useful Crewmate, but he’s hilarious nonetheless.
As Impostor:
One of those players you’d immediately know it’s the Impostor with the way he’s acting i.e not doing tasks, waiting for players to disperse groups.
If Mercy and/or Zenyatta is in his game, he’ll kill them either first or last, there’s no in between.
He doesn’t actually know how to deal with Hanzo if he’s a Crewmate. The dude straight up doubts anything Genji does lmfao.
Either way, if he wants to win, all he needs to do is either kill Hanzo first, or make sure to beat the game with sabotage.
Would sometimes dance in front of the camera if he knows somebody’s there watching (and usually that’s Hanzo).
He works best with Zenyatta, as they watch each other’s backs well.
Hanzo Shimada
Tumblr media
As Crewmate:
He doesn’t believe in teaming up, but if he sees someone doing their tasks he’ll vouch for their innocence when suspected.
The Security Guy: the first thing he’ll do is go to cams to check on everyone else. This sometimes gets him killed, as he’s often alone, but he knows that people can guess who’s the Imp and who’s not just from this simple thing.
He’s the type to make 10000iq questions such as: “Before I reveal the location of the body, I’d just like to ask everyone’s locations NOW.”
If Imps want to win, they need to kill Hanzo first.
He is suspicious of Genji all the time, and it doesn’t help that he follows him all the time, Crewmate or Imposter.
As Impostor:
Precision and perfection, a known creed in the Shimada household, and Hanzo upholds those ideas precisely and perfectly. He’s the least expected person in the group to be Impostor with how clean his actions are, as well as his expertise on assassinating and lying cultivated throughout most of his years.
As someone who checks on cams a lot, he often kills around the leftmost area of the map, where the vents connect for him to hide in.
He surprisingly works well with Hana as an Imp; with a bloodthirsty gamer girl who leaves bodies left and right, Hanzo can provide some reasonable-sounding lies to deflect suspicions pointed towards her. Another capable partner is Widowmaker.
He’s wary of Genji and won’t think twice about murdering him (again), but then people would know it’s him so he ignores him completely, or at least, pin the blame on him to kick him out.

Here’s a little something I’ve been working on for a little while. Might not update it often with As You Wish still being in the works, but it is something I wanted to get out of my folders and in the works. Enjoy!

YouWatch
This is a conversation topic that came up playing Overwatch last night; What if the Overwatch cast all has YouTube channels?
And while we voiced our opinions and debated to eachother, I feel the need to share all of my own takes as well.
Now, there’s 32 of these assholes so I’ll put it under the cut. Cause it’s long
Ana
Her channel is called “Grandma reacts”
Her viewers send her videos or shows to react to
She likes to have Jack, Gabe, Rein, and Torb on sometimes for some of the funnier videos
Hates daredevil compilations of people on high places with no safety gear
She swears at jump scares
Ashe
Daily vlogs
She calls her viewers part of the gang
BOB is the camera man and the crowd favorite
She mostly just likes to chat about nothing while wandering around the hide out
BOB makes really cool time lapses of them riding her bike down Route 66
Baptiste
Runs an advice channel
Mostly does Q&A live streams
All of his ad revenue goes to local charities and hospitals
People sometimes donate to him and that also goes to charity
There’s a very slim chance he got overnight famous because he’s so pretty
Bastion
One 12 minute video of him playing with Ganymede in Torbjorn’s backyard
Torbjorn recorded it for him
Brigitte
Tried to do a make-up channel
Eventually devolved into a “How to” builder’s channel
Can put together an Ikea bookshelf in 15 minutes without even glancing at the instructions
Ikea furniture speed runs are her most popular videos
D.Va
Canonically already has a gaming channel
Also has a daily vlog channel where she hangs out with Lucio and Junkrat a lot
Takes requests on what games she plays
Despite mainly being an online PvP gamer, she adores playing story games and voice acting
She cried on live stream when she finished Undertale
Doomfist
Runs Talon’s official YouTube channel
All the videos are join Talon adds
Echo
Her channel is a mash
Will play or do any kind of video that’s popular at the moment
There’s three episodes of a Minecraft LP left to die
Seven vlogs all recorded almost 3 months apart
Two animations she made herself
A couple of reaction videos
And a Pachimari unboxing
She has a lot of sponsors
Genji
Also, canonically, has a gaming channel
Sometimes does videos of sick ninja tricks in his backyard
Has the same channel from before his fight with Hanzo, so there’s a 4-5 year gap between two videos
“So my brother tried to kill me” is the first video he makes when he finally comes back
Occasionally makes “Master reacts to (anime)” videos with Zenyatta
Hanzo
The show off channel
It’s mostly just target practice with his bow and arrow Genji recorded for him
90% of his comments are telling him to put a shirt on and cover the nipple
His channel also went dead after he killed Genji
Might start recording and uploaded unscheduled vlogs during his hobo days
Also does movie reviews
Junkrat
If I may defer your attention to this post
Yeah he just runs a demolition channel
Roadhog makes sure the camera doesn’t get damaged
Junkrat really loves the slow motion effect
Lucio
Like Hana, he has two channels
One is his official music channel with music videos and concert clips
The other is also a vlog channel where he hangs out with Hana and Jamie
He’ll also talk about serious issues and his opinions on them on his second channel
McCree
Much like Hanzo, runs a show off channel
His is more popular because he’s straight up a cowboy though
People think it’s a gimmick for the channel. They have no idea he looks and sounds like that all the time
Mei
Has a scientific fact of the day Podcast with Winston
Talks about big issues
Her channel is very kid friendly and she explains things like global warming in a way they can understand
A lot of her videos will be watched by kids in science class
Mercy
“What to do encase of an emergency” tutorial videos
Gives basic medical training, like how to do CPR
Her videos are short and to the point so they can be played in an actual emergency
Genji is usually the person she uses as an example
Moira
Her channel is like Junkrat’s but more contained(?)
She does dangerous shit with chemicals but somehow it always ends wholesomly
The last minute of the video she speaks in a soothing Bob Ross voice as the lab is on fire behind her
The videos typically end with Angella coming back from her break
Orisa
It’s technically Efi’s channel
It’s a vlog to record Orisa’s progress tword becoming Numbani’s protector
Very popular, everyone loves how wholesome Orisa is
The money from the ads goes to fixing whatever Orisa breaks while trying to be helpful
All rude comments are deleted
Pharah
Show off channel
“99 dunks in a row” and such types of videos
They’re typically sped up with relaxing music
Lucio has appeared to play soccer with her a few times
Reaper
As Gabriel Reyes he ran a prank channel around the Overwatch base
He didn’t do any pranks that hurt or scared people though
Just recorded himself eating vanilla pudding out of a mayo jar to get people’s reactions
His favorite people to prank were Jesse and Genji because they had the most over the top reactions
Reinhardt is unprankable
The channel died with the fall of Overwatch
Reinhardt
Advice channel but louder than Baptiste
He’s full of energy in every one of his videos
Calls himself his viewer’s Grandpa
If anyone comes to him for advice on how to handle abuse of any kind he will adopt them on the spot
Also does meme reactions, sometimes has to have Brigitte explain what makes it funny
Has one video where he speaks quietly called “Grandpa reads a bedtime story” and it’s literally just him reading a bedtime story with soft music in the background
Roadhog
Toy unboxings
All of his videos are silent aside from the cute music he puts of them
The only part of him that’s ever on camera are his hands
Sigma
All his videos devolve into rambles about the universe
Other than that his channel doesn’t have a real theme
He tries to explain scientific principals but quickly turns into a shouting mess about the universe and gravity
Moira is the one to stop recording in the middle of his breakdowns
Soldier 76
Use to run a tutorial channel
Gabe called it “Dad Teaches you” and Jack hates that he’s not your father
He teaches you to cook basic meals and do simple repairs on a car
He talks in a very fatherly voice
Begrudgingly, he became his veiwers father
His channel died with Overwatch as well
Sombra
Gaming channel, but hacked
Does glitched speedruns on live stream
Clickbait thumbnails and titles
“How to get 1,000,000,000 free V-Bucks in Fortnite”
Steals kid’s Fortnite accounts
Symmetra
Stim channel
All of her videos focus on satisfying visuals
Someone asked her to do ASMR once and she hated it. The video existed for less than 24 hours
Torbjorn
Like Brigitte, runs a builder channel
It also doubles as a story time channel as he tends to ramble about the good old days
All his videos are 30+ minutes long
Somehow adds “and that’s how I lost my eye” to every story so no one knows how it actually happened
Bastion guest appears in a lot or Torb’s videos but only because he’s bored and wants attention
Tracer
Animated story telling
Makes animations of their missions and her day-to-day life
Thanks to her chronal accelerator animations take half as long
Still only uploads like two videos a month
Widowmaker
Food review videos
Hates everything, nothing gets high marks
Gets view ship cause she’s hot and very snarky
Winston
His channel is exactly like Mei’s
It’s more popular though because he’s a monkey and thus draws kid’s attention better
All of his viewers are elementary school science teachers and their class
Wrecking Ball
Tried to do a builder channel but all the comments were on how cute he is
Hates being called cute so he made his mech say swear words
He’s very popular with little boys
Also loves destruction and may destroy things for fun
“5000lbs wrecking ball VS Junkrat’s house”
Zarya
Vlogs but like... Work out vlogs.
It’s just time lapses of her at the gym
Insanely popular with lesbians for very obvious reasons
Encourages her viewers to take care of themselves and start slow
Blew a kiss at the camera once, became the most used image of her on the internet
Zenyatta
Most of his videos are relaxing music over beautiful visuals he recorded
The other half of his videos are meditation leadings and yoga
He’s also done videos on the omnic crisis and talked in length on his belief for the future
Has one video of him pranking Genji

The Overwatch crew at Universal Studios Hollywood WHAT HO DUMBLYDORE
“I need a double brandy and coke with lemon, please.” Pharah barely looked up as she pulled the wallet out of her cargo pocket. “What sort of light beer do you have?”
“No doubles.” The man behind the counter shook his head.
Pharah looked up at him. If the man had been smart, he might have realized that she was Fareeha Amari, co-commander of Overwatch, former Helix captain, a woman who did not allow a mission to go unfulfilled. If he had been smart, he would have known that Pharah’s wife drank brandy and cokes in the summertime, and that it was hot in the park that day, and that she was sitting in the shade, and it was all she had asked for.
If he had been smart, he would have known that Pharah loved her wife very much.
That they were even here was D.Va’s fault. D.Va had a press opportunity here, a special edition of her cola available at the Universal Studios throughout the world. It was good for Overwatch’s image, to have her associated with them, and it was to D.Va’s credit that she had magnificent gift for turning on her public face and being the cutesy, pink soldier everyone wanted. She had even promised some of the royalties to the cause. You could say much of D.Va, but she was, if nothing else, a team player.
Before this moment, Pharah might have said they were here for her, rather than assigning the notion of fault to the situation, but now, it was 2 pm in Universal Studios, Hollywood, and she was standing in some sort of fake pub in some ridiculous fake England, neither of which looked anything like how they did back in London, (The pub was too clean, for starters), it was nearly ninety degrees, and she was being denied the one thing her wife had asked for. Fault had now come into the situation.
“What do you mean?” Pharah looked at him placidly, but without a sign of movement.
“I mean, you can’t get a double.” His voice wavered, just a touch. She had that effect on people.
Pharah closed her eyes. Patiently, she thought. Exceedingly patiently. Her patience with this man was a new wonder of the world, considering. She opened them.
“Very well. What I would like you to do,” she put her hands down on the counter, the better to explain precisely what she meant, “is make me a brandy and coke, with lemon, and then serve me a shot of brandy. No doubles.”
He shook his head. “I mean you’re just gonna pour the brandy into the–”
“That seems like a problem for someone else, and not you, because you have followed the rules.” She took money out of her wallet. “Now, I was wondering if you had a light beer, as well.”
“I can’t do shots.”
“Have you been to England? This is completely unrealistic.” Pharah sighed heavily. “Make me two brandy and cokes, one with very light coke, and serve them to me. Also please give me a pint glass, on the side. And I would like a light beer.”
“I–”
“You are making this incredibly difficult, for no reason.”
A woman behind Pharah began to say something about getting out of line, but all it took was a turn of Pharah’s head and a flash of her deep brown eyes, and suddenly the woman seemed to forget what it was she was saying.
Pharah turned back around. ‘I will explain again–”
“Hey!” The bartender yelled, “what are you doing?”
Down on the ground, drinking straight out of a gin bottle, shoving ice cubes down her shirt, was Tracer. Her eyes grew wide at the attention, and she pulled a sharpie out of her pocket. Removing the gin bottle for a moment, she drew a quick lighting bolt on her forehead.
“Oi, it’s me! ‘Arry Potter!” She took a quick swig of the gin, again, “What ‘o, Dumblydore?!”
The man came toward her, and she took another handful of ice cubes, skittering out the door too quickly for him to catch her. He sighed heavily, and turned around to find Pharah standing right behind him.
“Now, What I would like is….”

Foolish Girl
Main ship: widowtracer
Side ships: pharmercy
Genre: angst
Notes: bit of a canon deviation, clearly. Lena is a dumb lesbian and Widowmaker thinks so too
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Tracer, don’t you dare run off to find that sniper again. We nearly lost you the last time.”
Lena huffed at Pharah’s words as she slid on her bracers, “Oh please, you wouldn’t get rid of me that easy, love. Besides, she means no harm; to me anyway. If she wanted me dead she wouldn’t miss me every time.”
“Lena,” a stern voice spoke from behind Fareeha’s shoulder, “I want you to stay where I can see you. It doesn’t matter if she hadn’t fatally shot you yet, that shouldn’t be a risk you’re willing to take.”
“But-”
Angela raised an eyebrow at her protest, silently daring the younger woman to argue with her again. Lena sighed and crossed her arms, pouting a little at the combat medic.
“Fine. Whatever you say, mum.”
“It’s my job to keep you safe, child,” Angela ignored the mocking tone in her words, “I can’t very well do that if you’re out of range chasing after a woman you know might as well be dead.”
“Angela...” Hana spoke up from where she was fiddling with the controls on her new black and gold Meka, “Don’t go there.”
Hana knew how sensitive a topic Amélie’s kidnapping and brainwashing was for Lena, even though it’d been years by then. Even though Tracer herself had seen what she had become; even though she was well aware that Amélie was gone and Widowmaker had taken her place. Hana had seen the way Lena mourned the loss of her friend, the woman she had silent feelings for. Hana hadn’t been there when it happened, didn’t even know Amélie before Gérard’s murder, but she had held Lena while she sobbed after the first time she met Widowmaker. For her, that was enough to break her heart.
Lena had gone silent at Angela’s words, her face held an annoyed look that didn’t quite reach her sad eyes. She just dipped her head in digression, brushing past Fareeha to go stand with Hana instead. Her friend gave her a sympathetic smile and patted her hand, launching into some excited ramble about her Mech’s new features in an attempt to distract Lena.
“Must you be so harsh with her?” Brigitte questioned softly while leaning closer to Angela, “She’s reckless, yes, but she’s a strong girl. Mentioning past trauma so bluntly like that will only make her more likely to defy you.”
“When’d you get so soft, kid?” Solider:76 grumbled, “Let Angela do her job, pestering people is how she shows affection.”
Angela shrugged off her teammates’ input, already regretting the way she handled things with Lena. Though Lena called her mom as a joke, Mercy did feel like a mother figure to the younger woman. Really, she felt like that was just part of her job; the team mom. Back in the day, Lena would come to her about everything and never hide anything from Angela. However, as of late it felt like there was a rift between them and they would butt heads more often than not.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself, Hubibi,” Fareeha’s low voice was gentle in her ear as she spoke the pet name warmly, “You didn’t mean to upset her like that. You two can work things out later, yes?”
Angela nodded, “I’ll speak with her after the mission. I really didn’t mean to bring it up like that... I sometimes forget how much it still hurts her.”
“You meant nothing malicious, Angela,” Pharah hummed in agreement, “It will be alright.”
“Thank you, Liebling,” Angela’s accent returned full force as she spoke in her mother tongue, “I do hope you’re right.”
“Landing in Paris in sixty seconds,” the robotic voice of Athena blared through the aircrafts speakers, “Prepare to attack.”
At the announcement of an ETA, Jack Morrison jumped back into his commander role. He started instructing people where to go and who to target, explaining once again the intent of this mission. Talon had taken some French diplomats hostage in a high rise building, ensuring maximum security would deter Overwatch from entering. That didn’t stop them, of course, and they had every intention of sending Talon scurrying home with their tails between their legs.
“Pharah, D.va, keep your eyes on the skies. Mercy, stay back and only jump it when necessary, I don’t have to remind you that healing is more important than fighting,” Angela nodded at his words, “Tracer, you’re on perimeter. Eliminate any enemies that threaten your teammates directly and keep them away from Mercy.”
“You got it, love,” Lena’s reply was missing her usual jovial giggle and happy tone, sounding more like it was said in Athena’s monotone accent.
Jack continued to ramble off orders, turning back to where Winston was operating the aircraft. He had offered the pilot’s chair to Lena before they left the watchpoint, but she had just offered him a nervous smile and a shake of her head. Planes weren’t bad anymore but flying them herself still sent her into intense panic attacks that even Angela had a hard time reversing. Even though it was years in the past, the Slipstream incident affected Lena more than she’d like to let on.
As Winston landed the plane, everyone got into position. Hana had gotten into her Mech, adjusting controls and testing her defence matrix. Brigitte was at her side, somehow still cracking jokes with the younger girl despite the dire mission.
Fareeha and Angela were speaking lowly to each other, making Lena smile despite herself when Angela adjusted Pharah’s hair under her helmet so it stayed out of her eyes. The two had clearly grown closer since Fareeha joined Overwatch and it was no secret that they were together at that point. There was always a certain softness between them, despite Fareeha’s gruffness and Angela’s no-nonsense attitude.
“Your accelerator is working fine?” Winston’s question broke Tracer from her thoughts, “No issues?”
“Right as rain, love,” Tracer promised, “Been ticking away as it should.”
“Good,” Winston nodded as he pocketed his glasses and nudged Lena forward, “Stay safe out there, Lena.”
“You too,” Tracer nodded just as the doors to the aircraft opened with Athena’s countdown.
“Tracer, keep your damn comm in your ear this time!” Soldier’s yell was barely heard over the sound of Hana’s meka as it’s rear boosters engaged and took her out into the sky. Lena flashed forward, quickly gaining distance between her and her team as she went to monitor the perimeter.
Winston and Reinhardt took up the front, immediately storming the Talon base with everyone else close behind. Pharah and D.va had taken to the sky, though Hana quickly landed to assist the others. Tracer glanced behind her to keep an eye on Angela, who was hovering behind everyone with her Caduceus staff in hand.
“Mercy, I’m going round back, let me know if you need me to recall back to you.”
“Affirmative,” Angela’s soft voice spoke in her ear, “I’ll be fine, Tracer.”
With that, Lena was off, making it to the back of the building in record time. She searched back entrances for any minor Talon agents, ensuring that she was alone. She secured the doors with the motion alarms Winston had given her, which would directly notify them if someone tripped the sensor. She was just about to go back to check on Angela when Hana’s slightly out of breath warning came through the comm.
“Sniper! Don’t get caught!”
Lena perked up a bit at that, so she did show up. She placed the last motion sensor absentmindedly and then glanced around her to ensure no one was around. Clearly someone knew of her motives because her comm crackled with an incoming message again.
“Lena Oxton, don’t you da-”
Angela’s warning was cut off when Tracer yanked the earpiece out and let it drop into the strap of her accelerator. She checked the charge and saw the blinking 94%, immediately jumping forward in time to get to the roof quickly. She sent a silent apology to her teammates, especially Mercy, but told herself she was doing this to protect them.
“Cheers, love,” Lena giggled as she flashed forward to stand behind the willowy woman near the edge of the roof, “the cavalry’s here.”
She made no move to shoot and neither did the sniper, who instead turned to face her with a stoic expression, “Chérie.”
“Fancy seeing you here,” Tracer recalled backwards when Widowmaker took a step too close for her liking, “Almost thought Talon woulda given up on you. Fifty shots, one kill, eh?”
“Watch yourself, petite fille,” the way her voice litted when she spoke in her native tongue seemed so Amélie that Lena felt her heart clench painfully.
“Ah, just kidding around, love.” Lena giggles nervously as she rubbed at the back of her neck, “So what, I come all the way up here to see you, defying orders I might add; Mercy’s gonna have my arse, and you just wanna talk? No warning shot, no fist fight even? Have you lost your edge, dear Widowmaker?”
“Do you have a deathwish, mademoiselle Oxton?” The formal remark said in Amélie’s voice hurt more than she’d let on, “Is that what this is for you? Une rendez-vous avec la mort?”
“Aw, love, if I had known this was a date I would have dressed nicer,” Lena mused playfully, “Woulda brought you flowers or somethin’.”
Widowmaker sighed deeply, taking a step towards the small woman who was watching her with wide dark eyes behind her goggles. Her dancers legs gave her a lot of height on Tracer, making it so two large steps were all she needed to cross the distance between them.
Lena was a bit shocked when the distance between them shrunk so quickly that Widowmaker was almost immediately towering over her. She backed up a bit more only to be met with the wall of the storage container behind her, yelping a little at the contact.
“Oh? What’s this?” Widowmaker’s voice was mocking and a smirk played on her lips, “The mighty Tracer startled so easily? Not so confident when you can’t put distance between you and your enemies, huh, Chérie?”
“Oh, come off it,” Lena didn’t want to admit how unease those unreadable golden eyes made her, “You don’t scare me, love. No offense.”
Widowmaker hummed in thought before lifting her gun to tilt Lena’s chin up, forcing eye contact, “Is that so?”
“You haven’t killed me yet,” Lena murmured, “If you wanted me dead I would have been so ages ago. Either you’ve lost your touch, or I’ve grown on you.”
“Ah,” Widowmaker chuckled lowly, “Haven’t you ever seen a spider tease her prey before, chérie? Killing you immediately would take all the fun out of it, and it does get dreadfully boring up on this roof all alone.”
Tracer felt the muzzle of the gun nudge the dip in her shoulder in a teasing manner, trying to hide her flinch as she stayed silent. She wasn’t usually this jumpy and certainly would never back down from a fight. She just wouldn’t admit how entranced and distracted she became in Widowmaker’s presence.
“Besides,” the tall woman purred as she leaned closer to Lena, “You’re hardly a threat, darling. Just a hyperactive puppy who thinks she can save the world. It’s almost cute... mais pathétique.”
“You’re bluffing, love,” Lena finally spoke, trying to regain confidence, “Since when did you back down from a fight?”
Widowmaker just shrugged, one hand coming up to rest on the wall beside Lena’s head. Lena’s breathing hitched as she felt her warm breath on her skin, hands coming up ready to shove the other woman away.
“Like I said, Lena; it’s cute.”
Lena felt her heart clench painfully at those words, the way she said her name sounded so much like Amélie that it made her feel queasy. The ache in her chest was amplified by the weight of her accelerator on her body, making her want to cry because she was so close, yet deep down Lena knew; Amélie was gone. She still couldn’t stop herself from whispering in a pained voice.
“Amé...”
Widowmaker raised an eyebrow, golden eyes observing her with an almost pitying look, “Oh, tu pauvre fille. Amélie is gone, you know that.”
“I- please... don’t.”
The way Lena’s voice wavered made Widowmaker shake her head. She didn’t remember much of her life as Amélie Lacroix, but she did have some memory of a particular hyper overwatch agent. Memories that seemed bittersweet, though Widowmaker herself wasn’t too sure what emotion connected to them anymore. She could remember the fondness Lena used to look at Amélie with, and it was pretty obvious that she had once felt more than friendship for her mentor’s wife.
“It’s time to let go, Lena,” Widowmaker said firmly, but surprisingly not unkind, “You can’t keep doing this. I am not her, chérie, I will never be her again.”
Lena tried to hard to put on a brave face as she replied, “We could help you! Widowmaker, please, Mercy could bring Amé back...”
“It’s too late, foolish girl,” Widowmaker trailed a surprisingly gentle hand down Tracer’s cheek, “You have to let her go.”
Before Lena could respond, a raspy warning came from behind them, “Widowmaker... The mission does not include fraternizing with the enemy.”
Letting go of Tracer, the sniper turned to face Reaper, who somehow looked disappointed though his face was an unmoving white mask. Widowmaker chuckled lowly, her body language just as relaxed as before.
“Oh I’m just playing around, Reaper, mon ami,” despite her words, her tone was not friendly at all.
“And yet, you’ve not killed her? Have you lost your touch, Widowmaker? Are you becoming soft?” Reaper’s hands tightened around his guns, “Moira will not hesitate to increase your treatments, if necessary.”
“She is not my target,” Widowmaker recited slowly, “She did not make a move to shoot me or even stop me. If anything, she is but a distraction.”
“Widowmaker,” Reaper’s warning wasn’t growled out, “Don’t test me.”
“She is not my target,” She glanced back at Tracer as she repeated herself firmly. The girl was standing absolutely still, having raised her blasters with shaking hands. She was almost hiding behind Widowmaker, as though she trusted her enough to protect her from the shell of Gabriel Reyes.
Reaper huffed and raised one of his guns in the blink of an eye, too fast for either woman to react. Widowmaker flinched and jumped to the side, expecting Lena to recall out of the way like she so often did while they were fighting. However, a yelp of pain told her otherwise and she immediately spun on her heels to see Tracer crumpling to the ground.
“We’re leaving in 20 minutes, don’t miss the ship and stop making dumb mistakes. You are but a machine, Widowmaker, don’t make me shut you down.”
With that, Reaper disappeared from the roof, shifting to wraith form. Widowmaker watched him leave with baited breath and then turned to Lena, who was white as a sheet and breathing shallowly.
“Oh, you foolish girl,” Widowmaker crooned as she crouched beside the younger woman, “Why didn’t you recall out of the way?”
Tracer was clutching at her thigh, blood seeping through the obnoxious orange spandex she always wore. She huffed and rolled her eyes the best she could, “W-Was a little... distracted, love.”
Widowmaker sighed and brushed Lena’s spiky, unruly hair from her eyes, “God, you’re quite the magnet for trouble, aren’t you.”
Noticing the signs of shock setting in and realizing Lena was having trouble keeping her eyes open, Widowmaker knew she needed to make a decision. She could kill her, that was what her programming was tell her to do, but she didn’t think she could do it. Even if it was to put the girl out of her misery and rid herself of an annoying pest, there was a tiny voice screaming in her mind to save her.
Ignoring Lena’s protests, Widowmaker grabbed the communications device that was hanging from her accelerator. She brought it up to her ear and pressed a button, hearing a beep and then multiple overwatch agents’ voices calling for Lena.
“Angela Ziegler,” Widowmaker spoke coldly, “Your puppy got off her leash.”
The comm crackled and a confused voice spoke in accented English, “Amélie?”
“Widowmaker,” she corrected through gritted teeth, “She’s been shot, Ziegler. Shock setting in and losing consciousness, you’d best come work your magic before I have to put her down.”
“I-,” Mercy was stumbling over her words as she came to terms with what had been said, “You didn’t kill her?”
“I was not the one who shot her,” Widowmaker replied, “She is not my target.”
“Amélie, I-.”
“That is not my name, madam Ziegler,” the French woman warned lowly, “Come save your little pest before it is too late.”
With that she dropped the comm and turned to Lena again, who was shaking like a leaf as her body temperature dropped. Widowmaker frowned and brushed a gloved hand over her sweaty forehead, “Pauvure chiot.”
“W-why do you always... why do you c-call me that?”
Widowmaker’s golden eyes glinted with a surprisingly amount of fondness, “You are like a puppy, no? Annoying and loud, but I do suppose you’re cute to some.”
“W-well aren’t you... quite the charmer,” Lena gasped as she shifted and a spark of pain shot through her leg. She heard someone calling her name in the distance and watched with glassy eyes as Widowmaker glanced over her shoulder.
“Your friends will be here for you soon,” she spoke in a strangely gentle way, “Stay out of trouble, little pup.”
“Amé... please stay.”
Widowmaker smiled at her sadly, not bothering to correct the woman who was clearly in shock, “Adieu, Chérie.”
With that, she left Tracer slumped against the storage unit, knowing her family would find her in the next couple minutes. She threw her grapple to the rooftop across the way, spotting the talon ship hovering nearby.
With a glance over her shoulder she saw a familiar blonde figure crouching over Lena’s body. Widowmaker sighed and shifted her gun sling over her back.
“Stay alive, foolish girl.”

I'm down for a Overwatch x Apex Legends crossover story
Legit, like imagine the things that could happen. Mercy will get along with Lifeline coz they're combat medics.
Zarya will probably hate Pathfinder but who knows, that cute high five robot could change her thoughts about omnics.
D.VA will 100% annoy Crypto (bonus points for D.va if she does it in their native language)
And it would be cool to see Lifeline and Lucio making some neat beats.
Bangalore and Soldier: 76 bonds over their military thingy.
Octane will probably challenge Tracer to a race and make Mercy worry with how much Stims he takes.
Bloodhound will probably intrigue Genji (idk why, I just feel like they would)
Ganymede and Artur becoming best buds is also cute (Pathfinder I love you but please stop smacking Artur :( ok?)
Also dont let Moira meet Caustic kay? It would be CAUStastroTIC (if I ever say a dumb pun like this again, you have my permission to hit me on the head)
Ya boi Mirage would probably do some holo trick and amaze the OW crew
Reaper low-key thinking Bloodhound is intimidating/cool because of the crows and ravens
Sombra having a "hacking competition" with Crypto. The banters between them could be funny asf.
And thats all I have for now. Might add more later when my brain decided to regenerate more braincells.

Overwatch Heroes ranked by how good their gun is for shooting themselves in the junk
22: Moira, Reinhardt, Brigitte. No gun. Cannot possibly shoot themselves in the junk.
21. Genji. Throwing stars hardly count and he probably can't get a good angle OR velocity, but it’s better than nothing
20. Hanzo actually hitting something, that'll be the day
19. Zenyatta: no gun, but probably he can aim those balls at his own if he tries to. Still, this barely counts as discharging a firearm at one's own genitals,
18. Orisa. The gun is a bit too long and also her crotch is where exactly? Confusing, therefore not easily done. Bastion: same deal as Orisa.
17. Winston, Zarya, Widowmaker: Gun way too long, it'll never work
16. Symmetra: Is that a gun? It's a photon projector. Not a gun. Still, it can be aimed where it needs to be aimed.
15. Wrecking Ball. This one's a doozy, but I have to assume he can program the robot to do the deed and then get out of it.
14. Mercy. I guess, it's not gonna do much though so why bother
13. D.Va. Sure Hana might have her pistol, but while inside the MEKA no junk-shooting can be achieved whatsoever.
12. Pharah. Oversized gun, but she could easily use the recoil mechanics. I'll allow it.
11. Roadhog. The length of the gun is alright but his body shape might make it difficult. Still, he could probably do it if he wanted to.
10. Soldier 76. Not as unweildy as some of the others. Getting there!!!
9: Ashe. The Viper is another super long gun, but thankfully she has Bob as backup.
8: Doomfist. The hand cannon is quite handily (!!!) discharged straight at the benis
7: Ana. Obviously not with her main gun, but the sleep pistol? Bull's-eye.
6: Lucio: I can't imagine it'd do much damage, but it's definitely possible. Vamos esculachar!
5: Reaper: Inching up to the perfect length territory
4: Sombra: Mucho mejor.
3: McCree: Like shootin' fish in a barrel. Mei: 好了! Tracer: Yeah!
2: Junkrat's probably done it before and probably more than once
1: Torbjorn. Hell yes he can shoot himself in the junk AND have his turret do it at the same time, that's double the junk shooting, absolute winner here,
