First Meal/breakfast after chores and before work! Hard fried egg, pan fried Beyond Meat vegan bratwrust, leftover white rice and peas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Made a juice drink, too!
This one was my 3rd attempt at homemade smoothies using my new, thrifted blender. I finally got some fresh ginger Thursday since my first attempt was missing it (and my second attempt was a fluke fr lol. I'll post abt it later). Had great flavor, but I'm currently struggling to get a thick, smoothie texture or even a slushie texture bc i lack ice and also thickening agents. I have unsweetened almond yogurt, but its not viscous enough.
Still a great flavor and keeps me regular. So itll be a regular on my menu!
I went a while without eggs for superstitious and dietary reasons (went vegan several yrs ago for about 6 yrs). But Ive been cooking eggs ocassionally for regulars at my job and tbh they do be lookin good. Also I've been supplementing my diet with local meals and ingredients to put my values to practice and I got a good deal for backyard eggs ($4 for a dozen). So I had 6 left and decided to just make one for my meal since the egg flavors would compliment the umami of the brat and soy sauce that I put in the rice.
It was rlly good and I'll def add this to my menu as well, esp when there are sales for the vegan brats at the grocer (I like that theyre sold in the meat isle btw lol).
Tumblr media
I didnt get a pic of the peas and rice cooking but i decided to try heating them up in a pan. Needless to say that was a bit sticky lol even with the oil at the bottom. But while it got pretty hot, it was a mistake to not just put it in the microwave lol. The peas got pretty hard and some werent heated up all the way.
So not doing that either lol (my last idea was to attempt to pan-fry them together (kinda like hibachi). I think it would have worked had I not used such a small pan lol).
I'll also perfect the way I cooked the egg as well. I thought a lil Lawry's and some pepper in the mix while it was hardening would suffice but umm.... def needed some on the outsides, too lol. But egg has enough flavor in itself so it doesnt need too much seasoning to be good. And mixing it with the brat and rice (which was flavored with a bit of veggie stock and vegetarian soy sauce) honestly did the trick.
Theres no recipe to any of this since I'm still in a very experimental stage in my cooking skills. I dont have a solid intuition with cooking right now, but I'm creating an idea of what flavors compliment and what techniques cook optimally.
This meal consisted of:
1 Beyond Meat vegan bratwurst (torn into pieces to feel like more lol)
About half a cup of leftover white rice
Maybe half a cup of frozen peas (mixed with rice when heating. Maybe not next time, tho lol).
Soy sauce
Lawry's season salt (for the egg)
Pepper (for the egg and rice)
Olive and sesame oil (for pan-frying the brat and egg. Both mixed together; seseme oil less than olive)
A lil bit of veggie stock (to pour into the rice for more flavor).
Overall 8/10!
Great portion and flavors for breakfast or brunch! Could make a nice small and quick dinner, too.

MHA: Kirishima
Tumblr media
Your sprawled out on your bed ,listening to your favorite playlist. You have nothing to do and its the middle of the night.
Your phone starts to buzz from beneath you. Picking it up, you received a text message from Katsuki.
Hey Y/N you awake?
Yeah I'm up
Do you wanna meet us at the gas station down the street?
You smile and look towards your door. Getting up, you peek out and make sure no one is awake. All the lights are off and your parents are snoring away in the bedroom.
I'll be there in 10
Alright, see ya
You head for your closet and get dressed. Putting on a t-shirt, ripped jeans with fishnets underneath, and your favorite pair of converse. After doing a quick makeup look, you grab your skateboard, some cash, and sneak out through the window.
As you skate down your street, you pull out your phone and start listening to music again. You close your eyes and breathe in, enjoying the breeze against your skin and how calm the night feels.
Once you got to the gas station, you took out your headphones and put your phone away. You see Katsuki with some of his freinds sitting on the curb outside.
"Hey Y/N you made it" Katsuki says as he motions you to sit beside them.
"Did we wake you up?" Sero asks with an alologetic look
"Y/N was awake" Katsuki says "They never sleep"
"Yeah I was bored so I'm glad you guys were here"
You sat down beside Kirishima and looked up at him. He was laying down on the concrete with his arm over his eyes.
"Hey Kiri" you say as you wave your hand above his face.
He sits up and looks at you, then smiles with his sharky grin.
"Hey Y/N! Glad you here i missed youuu"
You giggle as he gives you a giant hug. The others look at you guys and laugh a bit.
"Are you guys hungry?" Denki asks as him and Mina stand up
"I'm starving" Sero says as he gets up as well
"Yeah I could go for something" you say
You all get up and head inside the convenience store. You and Kiri went straight to the slushie machine. Sero and Katsuki went to get drinks while Mina and Denki got food.
"Ooo they have new flavors this time" Kirishima says as his eyes light up
You giggle and hand him a cup as you get your own. He goes straight for the cherry and blue raspberry, mixing them both. On the other hand, you go and mix your two favorites instead.
"Your gonna be so hyper Kiri" you say as you watch Kirihsima quickly slurp his slushie.
"Nahh a real man can handle this" he says mockingly.
You both start to laugh and then head to the counter to pay. As you were gonna hand the cash to the cashier, Kiri pushes your hand away and pays instead.
"Thanks Kiri" you say with a smile
"Hey guys we'll meet you outside" he hollers to the others.
You both went back out and sat beside each other on the curb. The night was quiet and all that could be heard was the squads laughs inside. As you continue to drink your slurpie, you glance at Kirishima. Noticing, he turns to look at you, causing your eyes to lock.
"You look great tonight Y/N"
He smiles and puts one of his hands on the pavement beside me. You put your drink down and put your hand right beside his, keeping your gaze on him.
"Are you challenging me shark boy?" You ask with a smile
"What if I am hm?" he smirks
"Then you won't win"
You hold his hand in yours, lean in and kiss him. His eyes widen with suprise but then soften as the kiss continues. He lifts his hand to your face and caresses it.
You both pull away from the kiss as you both start to grin.
"It seemed like a win win situation to me" He says as he winks at you.
You giggle but turn around to see the whole squad cheering from behind the windows of the store. Turning back to Kiri, you begin to laugh with him.
Mina comes running out the store with bags of food, the boys following behind her.
"So is it official?" Mina asks eagerly
You look up at Kirishima, who has just out his arm around you.
"What do you say Y/N?" He kisses your forehead "Wanna be my pebble?"
"Of course Sharky" you say with a huge grin on your face.

I Wanna Be your Girlfriend (BEN Drowned x Female!Reader)
Requested by: No one
Pages: 7.2
Words: 2,637
Associated song: I wanna be your girlfriend - Girl in Red
!Tw! Swearing and mentions/a picture of facial scaring, that's about it.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
"I don't wanna be your friend, I wanna be your bitch. And I wanna touch you but not like this."
"Yo fuckers, I'm going down to the convince store, you want any thing?" You ask to the three pastas lounging on the couch. The other two pastas shake their heads, but the third one makes himself known. "Could you get me a blue raspberry slushie please?" He asks slinking his head upside down over the back couch, his golden locks flowing straight down. You chuckle at the childish nature of the virus. "Sure thing, BEN." You exit the mansion and begin walking.
As you're walking out of the forest, you itch your face slightly, your breath hitches at the painful sensation. When you first got to the mansion, a certain monochrome fuck decided to pick a fight with your unstable, shaken up ass. He left you with four long scars down your face. Thankfully, he didn't damage your eye at all.
You don't bother wearing a mask to hide your face. You simply don't have the energy to give a fuck. You understand why people stare, it's odd and unusual to have that type of scaring. You don't mind, curiosity gets the best of us sometimes.
Anyways, you reach the convince store and pad inside. Inside was a wonderland of junk. Everything from Twinkies to state made craft beer. Your eyes wander around before spotting the slushie machine. There are four selections of slushie to choose from. There's Coke, blue raspberry, cherry, and green apple. You go to grab a cup, but then realize BEN had never mentioned a size. Quickly, you pull out your phone and text BEN.
Y/n
Yo BEN, what size do you want?
You decide to get your own slushie too. You pull out a medium cup and cover, then choose your flavor. You gently push back the lever and watch the mix of flavor syrup and crushed ice enter your cup. You take a red straw and poke it into the slushie. You almost forget about BEN's slushie until you feel your phone buzz in your non dominant hand.
Lil' Green Bitch
Uhhhhh, get me a medium plz
Y/n
'Aight
You take another medium cup and fill it with the blue slushie. You grab another straw for BEN and stick it in the back pocket of your jeans along with your phone. You walk up to the  depressed looking teenage cashier and put both drinks on the counter. You pull out your wallet before hand, so it isn't as awkward trying to pay. The cashier looks up the price for the slushies, since there is no barcode.
"Your total is $3.25 miss." The cashier sighs out. You open your wallet and pull out exact change. You hand the cashier your money and slide your wallet back into your pocket. "Have a good day." "You too sir." You reply, grabbing the slushies and leaving. You start your walk back to the mansion.
"I'm back bitches." You announce, opening the front door. You look around for your favorite green midget, but he's nowhere to be seen. "Have any of you seen BEN?" You ask the two other pastas, who are still on the couch. You close the door with your foot and walk over to the couch. "I think he went to his room." Jeff rasps, you nod and thank him.
You know where BEN's room is by memory because you and BEN have weekly sleepovers. Speaking of which, you're having one tonight in BEN's room. Your heart flutters at the thought of such a thing. You and BEN are best friends, you hit it off when you two first met. You started developing feelings for the glitch, you've crushed on him for almost a year now. You always keep your cool around him though, as to not raise any suspicion.
You knock at his room door, waiting for him to come out. "Coming!" He says through the door. You hear some shuffling from the other side and a small 'ow'. A few seconds later, he opens the door. You try and hide your blush the best you can, as he us wearing a black tank top and white boxers with the triforce symbol all over them.
"Pfft, nice boxers BEN," you comment sarcastically. You see a hint of a blush across his cheeks. "Thanks, would you like to take a closer look~?" BEN flirts, you laugh. "Ew no," you laugh out, punching him in the shoulder. "Anyway, here's your slushie loser." You say, handing the slushie to BEN. "Thanks bitch." BEN replies, you chuckle. "See you tonight," you say, begining to walk away. "See you tonight," BEN concludes.
Walking back up to your room, you take a sip of your slushie. You wonder what you and BEN are going to do at the sleepover. You usually surprise each other, the last sleepover you had, BEN took you to McDonald's at three am and harassed the workers working the drive thru. Fun times.
You open your bedroom door and walk in. Your room is decorated with posters you stole from victim's homes. You also have LED lights (also stolen) around the perimeter of your room. They're off right now, so you pick up the remote and set them to f/c. You smile proudly at the LED's, you also have Polaroid's strung up on some wire you found in the mansion. You have ones with you and BEN, you and Clockwork, you and Jeff, and you and your old friends.
You have the photos because you snuck back to your old house to steal some of your most important possessions. You also have a lava lamp you bought from Spencer's, it looks dope. You take off your shoes and set them next to your door, and set your slushie on your nightstand. You decide to take a nice, hot shower.
You grab a pair of black leggings that are ripped all over. You also grab a black long tee shirt that goes down to your mid thigh. It shows your s/t shoulders and has a graphic of a skeletal hand with a cigarette with the words 'smoking kills' in cursive, white letters. It has the classic two bold white stripes on the sleeves. You also grab some clean undergarments and socks.
You pad into the bathroom and close the door behind you. You turn on the faucet and put your hand underneath the water flow to test the warmth. As soon as the water hit your hand, you reel back and hiss in pain. You turn the knob a bit and wait for the water to cool down. As soon as the water cooled down enough, you slip the rest of your body into the shower.
You step out of the steaming shower and wrap yourself in a towel. You dry your hair and style it however you would like. You slip on your undergarments and socks first. Then, you pull on your ripped leggings, making sure you don't get your feet caught and rip them more. Then, you slip your long shirt on over them. You put on some deodorant and check your phone, Your phone clock reads 5:54.
"Shit!" You whisper as you go back to your room and grab your shoes. You're supposed to meet in BEN in his room at 6 pm (18:00). You put them on quickly and grab a f/c drawstring bag sitting in the corner of your room. You snatch the bag and fill it with your phone, phone charger, a blanket, some extra cash, and your handy dandy pocket knife.
You almost fall down the stairs trying to get to BEN's room in time. You bust open his door at exactly 6 pm (18:00), panting like you just ran a marathon. "Hey princess." BEN greets nonchalantly, you wave at him back. "Alright, since you took me somewhere on our last sleepover, I was thinking I could take you to some places, if you're up for it." BEN nods and gets up off his bed. "Alright, let's get our stuff set up first before we go." You nod and take the blanket out of your bag.
You observe the setup you and BEN have made and nod proudly. BEN set up a t.v on the floor and you both built a pillow fort to watch scary movies in when you both are done being teenage hooligans. Next to the t.v is a mini fridge BEN kept in his room for your sleepovers. He also has it in his room because he will deck anyone that eats his leftovers.
"Ready?" You ask, turning to BEN, "Yup, ready." You grab your drawstring back full of essentials and leave with BEN. Once you get out side, BEN asks you where you're going. "I was thinking we could hit up McDonalds, then walk around until we find an abandoned building to hang in." You explain, BEN nods, "Sounds like a plan to me."
You both arrive at the pretty beaten up McDonald's and you both walk in. "Welcome to McDonalds, how may I take your order?" The cashier asks boredly, you turn to BEN. "I'll take a ten piece chicken McNugget please." BEN responds politely, rocking back and forth on his heels. "Okay, and what about you Miss?" "I'll  take a f/o (favorite order) please!" The cashier nods and rings the order up. "Your total is $13.45." You nod and dig in your bag for your wallet.
"Don't worry N/n, I got you." BEN states and pulls a twenty out of seemingly nowhere. "O-oh, thank you B." You gush, that was very kind of him. So kind of him, it made your heart beat harder in your chest. "Alright, your food will be out in a minute." The  cashiers words snap you out of your lovey daze. You nod and walk over to a table to sit at while waiting for your food with BEN.
"What's our order number?" You ask, BEN looks back at the receipt. "Uhhh, order number 69, nice." He chuckles, you giggle back. "I have another question, where did the twenty come from?" BEN chuckles again. "I always have spare change in my hat." He takes off his hat and hands it to you, you peer inside and see another ten dollars and five quarters.
"Woah, that is the most epic magic trick I've ever seen." You say sarcastically at BEN, he chuckles. "My pleasure, Y/n." "Order 69?" You her somebody shout, you turn to BEN. "I'll go get it." You say, standing up from the booth. "Thank you miss!" You chirp at the cashier that just gave you your order. You set the tray down and begin to eat.
After you and BEN are done, you take care of the tray and leave. "So, where to now?" BEN asks, you smile, a great idea popping into your head. "I know the perfect abandoned house to hang out in, its a 15 minute walk from here," You explain to BEN. "Ok, lead the way N/n." You clasp your hands together in excitement. Hopefully, your plan is going to go smoothly.
Your plan is to go to the abandoned house, and explore with BEN for a bit. After that, you lead him up to a window that you can get to the roof from. You are going to sit on the roof with BEN and tell him how you feel. Hopefully, he feels the same way about you.
You arrive at the abandoned house with BEN. You both walk up to the front door, "After you m'lady," BEN motions, tipping his hat. "Thank you my fair gentleman." You took a bow and enter the building, both of you giggling. You carefully step around fallen debris and rotten floorboards. You make sure that BEN was also being safe, you love BEN, but he is quite a handful.
You both walk into the dust covered living room.  There was an ugly yellow rug lying in the floor, and a black table sitting on top. Two beige recliners are sitting at opposite angles facing towards the wall. Behind that, was a window with spindly white curtains. You both investigate the living room before moving on to the rest of the house.
The house is very small, it only has a living room, a kitchen, two bathrooms and one bedroom. So, you move on to the kitchen. The kitchen had a pretty white wallpaper with pastel pink flowers all over it, it looks like someone painted the flowers with watercolors. Theres noting in the kitchen other than the cabinets and sink. You look in the sink and on the counters. BEN snoops through the cabinets. He finds nothing other than a single black marble.
"Yo, N/n, look what I found." BEN says, showing you the completely black orb. "Woah, that's sick!" You say looking intently at the black orb. You both exit the kitchen. "Do you wanna split up for the bathrooms?" You ask BEN, "Sure" he says. So, you both split up, you go upstairs and see two doors. You don't know which one is the bathroom, so you did the best thing you could to chose which door to go into first.
"Eenie meenie miney mo catch the tiger by the toe, if he hollars let him go." You end, your index finger pointing at the door in the right. You open the door to the bathroom and walk in. Pretty pastel blue tiles cover the walls. You see a sink with a mirror above it, it is one of those mirror cabnets. You push on the mirror, it inverts then squeaks open. Your eyes catch on a dusty orange cylinder. You pick it up, there's no label, interesting.
BEN enters the bathroom downstairs. The bathroom is covered in pretty white tiles. BEN notices the sink and the mirror, he pushes on the mirror and nothing happens. He steps over to the blue shower curtain and pulls it open. Nothing is there, so he turns around to meet you upstairs.
You both meet in front of the door on the right, you reach out and turn the doorknob and open the door. You both enter the room and look around. The walls are painted a nice gray. The bedroom is empty,  except for a lone window leading to the roof. You go over and open the window, you motion for BEN to follow. You carefully stick your leg out onto part of the roof, then walk up the slope. BEN follows you up and sits next to you.
"Hey BEN, can I tell you something?" You ask, BEN gives you a curious look. "Okay, what's up?" You take a deep breath. "I brought you up here because I wanted to to tell you that, I like you, a lot. And, I hope I can be your  girlfriend?" You end shrinking down a little bit, BEN smiles at you. "I'd love for you to be my girlfriend, Y/n." He says, gently putting his thumb under your chin and lifting it up.
Your eyes meet with his, you both lean in. His lips met yours, they're soft, but cold. It sends a chill down your spine. You both melt into the kiss, but before anything gets heated, you pull away and hug him. "Thank you, BEN."
Best. Sleepover. Ever.

Okay so I did one of these last season and I once again felt the urge to rant about how much I love each and every character on this show.
*SPOILERS BELOW*
Eleven // El // Jane who continues to be my personal favorite character on this show. God this season she reached new levels of being a badass. Can we take a moment to just appreciate how strong and brave she is, she just keeps going even when she is scared. And those fight scenes were just phenomenal, they didn’t make her seem invincible which I love cause its her tenacity that really makes her so strong and interesting. I loved the story line where she basically is becoming a normal kid discovering new “rules”, her own style, her personality, we get to see the type of person she’s becoming on screen and its done so well.
Mike Wheeler Okay I’ll be honest I always liked mike but it was always more aww he and El are so cute together not mike individually. But I felt this season fleshed out his character a little more. We get to see him just being a normal dumb teenager. That opening scene where he starts singing and being a dork really made me love his character, also him and Lucas ranting about girls was hilarious. Most of all though you could see how much he cares about El is taken into account in all his actions even when they were wrong. Overall I though he was really adorable and compared to my younger cousins a realistic teenage boy.
Lucas Sinclair Lucas always gives some of the best dialogue in my opinion (must run in his family) and I think it kinda gets overlooked sometimes. This season his whole thing about teaching mike about girls was hilarious and something I totally picture a young teenage boy thinking. He’s really quick witted and stubborn and I love him, his and max’s dynamic I think just fits well somehow.
Dustin Henderson God he is such an adorable marshmallow I want to protect. He just always makes me smile, he’s honestly the perfect mix of smart and adorable. This season once again shows how committed he is to science and finding the truth of things, he’s so determined once he starts a mission and I’m so happy he found a girl to appreciate him. That song they sang together melted me in to a puddle.
Will Byers I honestly felt we didn’t get enough of will this season I mean I get it, theirs a lot of characters not enough time but we’ve steadily been getting to know him more and I fine myself with more questions about him. He’s so sweet and different than a lot of teenage boys portrayed on television and its this uniqueness that makes me want to get to know him more. I just really feel for him and how he wanted to go back to how things were before.
Max Hargrove Max is quickly rising in the ranks for me in becoming another favorite character. She is just so stubborn and witty and blunt I love it. Most of all this season I love her and El’s friendship. I though they were gonna hate each other from what happened last season but thank god the writers took it in this direction cause I need more shopping trips and sleepovers. I myself am more of a tom boy and seeing a girl who skates and says whats on her mind just makes me really happy.
Jonathon Byers I don’t have much new to say about Jonathan this season, I still love him and how much he cares about will, that scene where he and Nancy fight in the car, wow by the end I’ll be honest I felt for both of them cause I could understand both their points.
Nancy Wheeler She continues to be super tenacious and definitely a fighter. Her tenacity can lead to good and bad things but its a constant and I love that about her. She dealt with such sexism and never let it stop her from thinking of big dreams. She's an icon honestly and I love how brave she is, she has the traits of a great reporter.
Steve Harrington I admit I didn’t dig Steve in season 1 but he is now my second favorite character because how can he not be. His whole parent dynamic with the kids, its fucking adorable. His hair is gorgeous. He may not know everything in the world but he’s just unabashedly himself. Adorable, confident and above all caring. You could see how much he just cares about all the other characters, he respects dustin and the other kids and he’s friends with them because he doesn’t just see them as kids he see them as friends. I’m excited to see more of his character as he learns to prioritize things that are actually important not things society tells you are important.
Jim Hopper *SOBS* I always loved hopper but I loved dad hopper the most. Him and El had this unique dynamic that I just wanted more of. He’s wasn’t perfect by any means (anger issues lol) but he cared so fucking much about everyone and he just didn’t know how to express it. I sobbed when El read his speech but it felt like such a good ending though, you finally get to hear what was behind all that frustration about El and mike, he just missed her. I miss him.
Joyce Byers She fucking mom of the year. I love her so much. You just know she would do anything for those kids. This season continued to showcase how much of a badass she is, she took no shits from people and she did what she had to do to make sure nothing happened to her son. Also this who Joyce and Jim dynamic was beautiful cause they just pushed each other up and if they had the chance I feel like they would have been a awesome team keeping those kids out of trouble.
Billy Hargrove I think seeing into his mind, seeing what makes billy do the things he does, what makes him into who he was, was just done so well. It shows how people and their actions always have reasons. We are made up of our experiences in life and no character shows this more than billy, he was handed an unlucky hard life and under all that attitude he was just a boy who loved his mom. I’m sad we did get to see him grow and learn and I loved how well the actor did this season it was phenomenal.
Murray Bauman He was a more important player this season and I loved his and Alexei’s dynamic. He’s brings some humor into any scenes he is in, seeing him pretend to be a communist was hilarious just all around no complaints, he’s a great character and he like all the characters has compassion for people, he wants to help save people and has flaws that make him well rounded.
new*
Erica Sinclair just give this child a round of applause. Every single word from her mouth made me laugh my ass off and appreciate her. She is the queen of sass on this show. She is confident. She is hella brave. She is so smart. She is a fucking icon and I look forward to seeing everything she said made in to gifs cause I love her with all my soul and look forward to her having an even bigger roll in the next season.
Robin Another newbie, she like max is not the like most teenage girls portrayed on tv, she's the real thing, she’s unique and really funny and true to herself. With every scene I just find myself wanting to know more about her and her past. Her whole “you suck” board was hilarious, she's just incredibly likable you can’t help but root for her.
Dr. Alexei By far the most surprising character for me to like, you first see him and you do not expect to get attached to him, just like barb and bob. Stranger things just gives us these character we never expect to come to love so much and leave us heart broken cause we don’t get enough of them. He just wanted a cherry slushie and its these small things that just bring him down to our level. Like yes Alexei there is a difference between cherry and other flavors, yes it is funny that hopper and Joyce haven’t banged, yes. He’s just adorable and I didn’t expect to be so sad when he died.
Sorry for the grammar & if I forgot someone I wrote this hella late. Heres link to my thoughts on last season. You might not agree with everything I say and thats totally cool just please don’t be rude.

you were red;
full of passion and energy. beauty, lust, love. you embodied the color, and knew how to bring these qualities in me out. you made me lust for love and brought the passion for life I held so deep out. you made me realize that you are my everything. you were warm lips molding to my own, desperate hands roaming a body that is needed, a glance so intimate others needed to avert their eyes. you were hot chocolate in a mug with two marshmallows on a cold winter day, an interesting book on the windowsill in the middle of a thunderstorm. Anger that explodes and pops along with the passion and love. You are a volcano, spewing dangerous lava and melting rock only to make the soil more fertile for much more beautiful landscapes to bloom over time, a beautiful wonder that you want to love and be next to. You are a campfire during a chilly night, with smores and songs and cedar wafting through the air, Comforting and warm
I was blue;
calm, and deep. A peaceful lake, still, reflecting the autumn trees and clouds in the skyline. I was the slushie on a summer day, staining your tongue and lips, leaving a subtle artificial flavor, the sucker that gives you a sugar high with bubblegum in the center that you pop at your friends. I was the cotton candy at a fair, a simple delight surrounded by much bigger and better attractions, yet you still consume me, as I dissolve under your tastebuds and leave you yearning for me.  But really I'm an ocean, raging and dangerous, ready to swallow any ship the dare cross my path, pulling planes from the sky and sinking the hopes of those coming close enough for my current to take them in. I'm a dangerous titan that you haven't begun to discover, its best to get out while you can.
together we make violet;
a beautiful flower littering walkways in the spring, lilac dreams and indigo hopes, swirling depending on if  theres more me or you, a wonderful blend of purple shades making a tyedye experience that could become the most beautiful thing you've seen. a sunset in the summer, tinting the edges of the sky as night sweeps in, or perhaps a sweater on a child whos nose is reddend by the winter air, a flower given to a crush just before they anxiously ask them to homecoming, the color of a corsage given by a young love that may or may not last.
Violet swiftly turns to violence when the bad qualities mix. When were good, were great, but when its bad its awful, bruises not on the skin, but litter the thoughts, and soul when we fight, punches at our ego through uncaught comments, swift remarks, bites and gouges to our bond through valid points and realizations that no one knew was killing us. Stabs to the others happiness, out of spite or anger, or plain lack of care. Violence quickly fades to grey.
Grey;
emptiness. numbness. loneliness. Whats left but the shell of a man who tried to salvage a relationship he fell in love with, a woman he cares so dearly for. A husk that on the outside loos fine but like a cicada sheds its skin youll quickly see its empty and what was beautiful had left. Fragile and cracking  under the pressure of the grey walls, slate floor, overcast skies. sunsets gone, oceans polluted. Hope turned to fear, love to loneliness, lust to inability to perform, something unnatural and shouldn't exist, shouldn't live..
that's when the attention is shifted from husk to what emerged from it, something that is beautiful and soaring, something that realizes theres more than grey, it isn't a black and white world, but a world that's surrounded by bright sunshine, and sundresses and tall sunflowers, or autumn leaves and tulips and strange new feelings and colors. Rekindled is the flame, reminded of the passion once held. Freckles and loud laughter,  doe eyes and big hair, high waisted shorts and crop top hoodies, full lips and affectionate hugs and giggles, whispers at night and secrets best kept. a woman who pulls you from grey. a woman who shows you love you've never know, family you've never seen, passion for the little things, someone who looks like the sunset and feels like a campfire.
she is red.
and I am blue.

How to Bring This Portland Restaurant’s Colorful Outdoor Oasis to Your Home
Tumblr media
The fun of dining at Gado Gado isn’t just in the menu. It’s also in its signature playful spirit.
While restaurants around the United States are figuring out how to shift their business to adapt to a new culinary landscape, some teams are having more success making it work. In Portland, Oregon, Thomas and Mariah Pisha-Duffly, the owners of the hit Indonesian restaurant, Gado Gado, have not only figured out how to operate in a socially distanced manner that continues to draw customers (even inspiring them to open a second spot called Oma’s Takeaway), but they’ve managed to maintain the restaurant’s signature playful spirit along the way.
The fun of dining at Gado Gado is apparent in the amped-up flavors of its menu, which draws on Thomas’s Indonesian-Chinese heritage for dishes like Sumatran-style spicy beef rendang (served with coconut rice and a green chile tomatillo sambal), ayam lawar (a shredded chicken and coconut salad with galangal dressing), or a pandan jelly dessert. But it’s the restaurant’s thoughtful Peranakan-inspired design accents mixed in with some psychedelic vintage finds that truly make it an experience. Even now with a closed dining room, the Pisha-Dufflys have brought some of the restaurant’s bold design scheme to its two outdoor patios.
“When we were designing the restaurant, it felt like a really great opportunity to communicate ourselves through design,” says Mariah Pisha-Duffly. “There were a lot of spaces opening up around us that were extremely beautiful but minimal, and we wanted to go the opposite way and do something maximal and full of pattern.” When reimagining the dining room for the outdoors, the duo continued the theme with mismatched rugs, oilcloth tablecloths, and other delightful personal touches, all while trying to keep costs low.
Below, Mariah Pisha-Duffly explains how they made Gado Gado into a colorful outdoor oasis, and how to bring the Gado Gado brand of power-clashing onto your patio or into your home.
Remix your old stuff with new purpose
Tumblr media
The black light poster works as decor and a way to communicate instructions for social distancing.
“When we started to rethink the patio for the year of COVID, it felt like working with what we had, and being really resourceful was necessary,” says Pisha-Duffly. “The bathrooms inside Gado Gado are filled with themed ’70s fantasy art. We brought this black light poster outside, and we made little word bubbles on it to let people know where to find their takeout. It didn’t used to be that you needed all these instructions for customers, but you do now, and we wanted to make it beautiful and fun.”
Shop it: Black light posters
Whether you place them in the bathroom or the bedroom, ’70s-style black light posters give the space a trippy element.
Add bold personal touches
Tumblr media
Design features like this gallery wall and custom-designed wallpaper had to remain inside.
Tumblr media
“Thomas’s family is Chinese, but his grandmother lived in Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia, before coming to the U.S. You see a lot of Peranakan design throughout Southeast Asia — full of patterns, tiles, and intricate carvings. Inside, we have a big portrait of his grandmother painted on the wall by artist Kate Blairstone (she also did our amazing wallpaper with shellfish and birds) and a mask that my grandparents got while living in Indonesia. Whenever you collect something it tells the stories of who you are and what you like, and getting the opportunity to put that in the restaurant was really special.”
Shop it: Patterned wallpaper and paintings
Blairstone has made dozens of custom wall accents that speak to each individual owner’s story. Whether you fancy a version with oysters, flowers, or carrots, she’s available to make works on request that speak to one’s story. You can also find wallpaper with similar motifs on Etsy.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match
Tumblr media
Plates and bowls come in various vintage patterns.
Tumblr media
“Once I knew we were going to open Gado Gado, I could finally get all this thrift store stuff that I’ve wanted to buy for forever. I would go to Goodwill three or four days a week, just collecting things.”
Shop it now: Power-clashing vintage plates
Part of what makes dining at Gado Gado special is that none of the plates and glassware match, which means each time you dine there it might be a little different. The cornucopia of palettes somehow never feels like too much, but rather, it functions almost like a sewn-together quilt that uses a kaleidoscope of fabrics that come together beautifully. Vintage, granny-esque floral plates are given an exhilarating new life here.
Serve your drinks in ice cream sundae cups
Tumblr media
Now that it’s colder, slushie cocktails aren’t on offer. Instead, Gado Gado serves cocktails like this one, the Honey Honey, in sundae glasses.
“This summer we were doing a lot of slushy cocktails made with things like freshly juiced turmeric and ginger, tamarind, coconut, lime, and tequila. We like to add fun garnishes to them, too.”
Shop it now: Old-fashioned ice cream sundae cups
These clear glass tumblers are usually the vessels for heaping scoops of strawberry ice cream with a fudge swirl, whipped cream, and sprinkles, but they are equally useful for spicing up an after-work drink. Add a fun garnish to complete the effect.
Have fun with lights
Tumblr media
Gado Gado’s disco takeout tent is no more, but string lights still provide some whimsy.
“Initially we were doing takeout and delivery that was extremely no contact and figuring ways to make the experience personal and hospitable within the framework. We had a takeout tent with disco balls, flashing lights, and fake mangosteens — things that still communicated fun and warmth without physical contact. Someone called it a “block party for one.” And it’s true, we love rainbow lights, to the point that we have a giant fruit bowl full of LED remotes because at this point we own so many rainbow light set-ups.”
Shop it: Party lights
Bring the party back home with these funky light options. “For lighting we like to go really cheesy,” Pisha-Duffly says.
Incorporate more pattern with plants
“We worked with this great company called Appetite that brought us plants such as palms, yucca trees, succulents, and ginseng plants. They have fabric buckets, and when they stopped by they were like, ‘What color palette [are you] thinking of for the bases?’ and we were laughing, like, ‘Nothing is off the table, our restaurant is a rainbow.’”
Shop it now: Fabric planters
Make your table restaurant-worthy
Tumblr media
Oilcloth is practical and has the added benefit of being in keeping with Gado Gado’s colorful style.
“Oilcloth is so cool. It’s durable and it’s fairly inexpensive — we have versions with golden floral prints, orange, and a sort of blue and red floral thing happening.”
Shop it now: Oil cloth prints
As Eater has documented in the past, oilcloth is a popular choice for many restaurants, and you can bring it into your own space. Even the messiest of eaters won’t have trouble cleaning them, and the more tablecloth options you have, the more backdrops for taking Instagram-worthy food photos.
Bring rugs outdoors
Tumblr media
“Having all the rugs outside was a fun way to create a sense of comfort that’s super affordable.”
Shop it now: Outdoor rugs
Rugs don’t only have to stay inside. These versions can bear the brunt of rainy Portland weather, bringing a little bit of sunshine as they do.

You don’t have to go to a trendy cocktail bar to have a top-notch drink. Start with just three simple ingredients to make this ultra-refreshing cocktail.
Yes, they go down easy, but they’re also easy to make at home. A standard Moscow Mule has a perfectly balanced mixture of vodka, ginger beer and fresh lime with a garnish of a lime wedge or mint. Because of the fizzy nature of ginger beer, it’s a stirred cocktail served over ice.
Our Moscow Mule Recipe
Using the ratio measuring method, you can easily make just one or two mules (or a great big batch).
Ingredients
Instructions
Step 1: Pour the vodka into a vessel (traditionally a copper mug) and top with fresh lime juice.
Step 2: Throw a juiced lime slice into the drink for extra flavor. Cover with ice.
Step 3: Add ginger beer and give the whole drink a few good stirs. Cheers!
Using the Best Vodka & Ginger Beer
Restaurant lore has it that Moscow Mules were originally created to use excess Smirnoff vodka and homemade ginger beer at Cock n’ Bull tavern in Los Angeles. That means, if you’re interested in creating a truly authentic Mule, you’ll have to concoct your own ginger beer.
If you’re not into DIY soda, try yours with Q Ginger Beer and Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Tito’s has a smooth finish without a high price point and Q adds real chile pepper to the ginger beer for an extra hit of spice. For a less spicy cocktail, Fever Tree and Gosling’s ginger beers are popular options.
Moscow Mules are considered a “skinny” cocktail if you use ginger beer low in sugar. Here are 20+ more cocktails that won’t pack on the calories.
What’s with the Copper Mug?
While the copper mug does benefit the drink in some ways, it’s been tied to the mule since its inception at the Cock n’ Bull, mostly, for marketing purposes. Its iconic color and noticeable difference from other bar glasses was intended to get patrons to ask, “What’s the drink in that glass?”
The plan seems to have worked! Thin copper also cools very quickly and is able to retain that cold temperature for longer than a classic glass cup. Using this traditional barware keeps your cocktail cold—and cool-looking. Grab a set and these other barware classics for a well-stocked bar at home.
Twists on the Classic Mule
There are so many ways to spice up this simple drink—and bartenders love to riff on the basic mule recipe.
The Kentucky Mule is on many bar menus. It subs out bourbon for the vodka and adds a garnish of fresh mint. (Here’s how to store fresh herbs the right way!)
A Mexican Mule uses a similar substitution—tequila for vodka—and can feature a garnish of sliced jalapeño or a touch of muddled jalapeño in the copper mug.
The variations are endless—muddle fresh fruit or use a flavored vodka in your own concoction. Don’t forget the garnish and you’ll have your own house special.
Once you’re a master of the Moscow Mule, try your bartending skills on these festive cocktails.

10 Classic Coffee Drinks Which are to Die For
twelve Classic Coffee Drinks That happen to be to Die For Space cake Amsterdam The first coffee drinks I want to share with you are worn of my everyday coffee drinking. If you haven't tried any of these yet, I suggest you do, because I think you'll find quite a few are worth coming back to again and again. "Just Right" Iced Coffee beans Weed Amsterdam Chances are you've had chilled coffee that was too fairly sweet, creamy, or watery. As easy as it may seem, good hot coffee drinks can actually always be tricky to make. A big section of making good iced coffees drinks is using coffee ice cubes. It takes an extra step regarding preparation, but doing so will assure your coffee doesn't get a watered-down coffee wannabe. One more key to making good hot coffee is to brew typically the coffee and then let it cool in the refrigerator for at least a pair of hours. If you use hot, freshly brewed coffee, it will thaw the ice cubes instantly. Can make one serving Ingredients 1 cup of chilled espresso (refrigerated for at least 2 hours) 1 cup of ice cubes 5 ounces of sweetened condensed milk Directions 1 ) Pour chilled coffee into a large cup. 2 . Increase coffee ice cubes and sweetened condensed milk. Sweeten to be able to taste. Cafe Creme Fresh coffee and a bit of cream never fails to satisfy. I integrated this because the proportion involving coffee to cream is key to doing it right. Tends to make one serving Ingredients four ounces of freshly brewed coffee 1 tablespoon regarding cream Directions 1 . Combine and serve. Mocha Coffees This simple, sweet espresso is loved by coffee lovers everywhere (who also have a tendency to love chocolate). You can make these types of coffee drinks as chocolaty as you want by adding approximately cocoa powder. You can also utilize a chocolate-flavored creamer if you want much more of a dessert kind of flavor. Makes one serving Elements 1 cup of recently brewed coffee 1 tea spoon of cocoa powder 1 tablespoon of sugar (or other sweetener) 2 tablespoons of milk (fat-free optional) Directions 1 . Pour newly brewed coffee into serving cup. 2 . Stir in cocoa powder, sugar (or other sweetener), and whole milk. Spiced Mocha Coffee It is a lovely little variation on mocha coffee drinks that requires mixing spices into the coffees grounds before brewing. Carrying this out gives wonderful notes involving flavor without overpowering the actual cup. Makes one portion Ingredients 1/4 cup of coffee coffee grounds 3/4 teaspoon of yard cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon connected with nutmeg 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (or other sweetener) 2 ounces of chocolates syrup 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 3/4 cups of filtered water Dollop of whipped cream (optional) Directions 1 . Place the reasons, cinnamon, and nutmeg from the coffee maker and brew often the coffee as described in the earlier chapter. 2 . Once the coffee beans is brewed, remove the pot from the heat plate in addition to stir in the milk, sweets, vanilla extract, and chocolate bars syrup. Top with whipped ointment (optional) and serve. Bistro au Lait Cafe au Lait are simple coffee drinks that consists of equal parts of freshly brewed coffee beans and steamed milk. The key to a delicious au Lait, however , is properly "double brewing" your coffee. Precisely that? "Double-brewed coffee" will be coffee prepared in such a way that its significantly stronger than usual brewing. One way of doing this can be running already brewed coffees back through the coffee maker having another batch of new grounds (using brewed java in the water reservoir). I actually don't recommend this method, however , because it produces strange-tasting coffee. By reheating coffee beverages, you lose flavor and the final product has a bitter aftertaste. Typically the double-brewing method for coffee drinks I recommend is achieved by merely using twice the normal level of grounds for the water you're using (with the normal extraction time). That is, four tablespoons of grounds for every 6 ounces of water. This specific creates coffee with a solid, bold flavor, which is stunning for the Cafe au Lait. Makes one serving Substances 4 ounces of double-brewed coffee 4 ounces regarding milk, steamed (fat-free optional) Directions 1 . Brew the actual coffee and remove it in the heating plate. 2 . Without having a machine to vapor milk, heat a small saucepan over medium heat. Fill the milk into it. Heat the milk for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly avoiding a milk crust. three or more. Once the milk steams, take it off the stove and put, at the same time, both the milk and also coffee into a serving glass. Vanilla Coffee Latte A genuine latte is made with espresso, however this drink uses double-brewed coffee, which also creates yummy coffee drinks. Makes one serving Ingredients several ounces of fresh double-brewed coffee 2 tablespoons of sugar (or other sweetener) 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract 4 ounces involving milk (fat-free optional) Terrain cinnamon or grated dark chocolate, to taste Directions 1 . Stir the sugar and vanilla extract into the java. 2 . Pour the milk into a medium-sized jar which has a lid and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Remove the top and microwave the milk products for about 30 seconds, or till foam forms on the top. three or more. Pour the milk into the coffee and spoon the foam onto the top of the drink. Top with ground cinnamon or maybe grated chocolate. Frappuccino If you value a Starbucks Frappuccino but don't love the price, why not make your own? This recipes will taste just like the product for a fraction of the price. Makes one serving Elements 6 ounces of relaxed, double-brewed coffee (refrigerated for at least 2 hours) 1 glass of milk (fat-free optional) 3 tablespoons of glucose (or other sweetener) 2 cups of ice cubes Caramel gravy, to taste (optional) Sweet sauce, to taste (optional) Whipped cream, to flavor (optional) Directions 1 . Put everything in a blender as well as blend on high until finally a slushy consistency. Frosty Delight These are smooth coffee drinks, refreshing drink that is great for a hot summer season day. Makes one serving Ingredients 4 ounces associated with chilled, double-brewed coffee (refrigerated for at least 2 hours) 3 ounces of milk (fat-free optional) 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk 3/4 cup of ice cubes 2 - 3 tablespoons of sugar (or other sweetener) Directions one Put everything in a food processor and blend on higher until a slushy regularity. Spiced Orange Coffee This can be a wonderfully flavorful coffee ingest that can be served hot along with cold (poured over ice). Makes one serving Materials 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds 1 teaspoon associated with grated orange peel 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon a quarter teaspoon of nutmeg a few whole cloves 1 tablespoon of brown sugar (or additional sweetener) 1 cup connected with filtered water Whipped treatment (optional) Directions 1 . Blend the coffee grounds, roughly grated orange zest, cloves, as well as cinnamon in a small bowl then use to brew your java. 2 . Once the coffee is actually brewed, stir and add whipped cream if preferred. Viennese Coffee This is one of my favorite "dessert-in-a-cup" indulgences. A classic drink to savor. Ingredients a single cup of freshly made coffee 1 tablespoon of heavy whipping cream one particular ounce of semisweet chocolate, finely chopped Pinch connected with cinnamon Whipped cream
