MAYBE im reading into it way too much bc i have terminal haikaveh brain. maybe. BUT!!!! art is subjective i can do what i want :^) anyway i think a lot about this part because TO ME it sounds like kaveh keeps assuming the worst from alhaitham - makes sense, they argue all the time and they def have a turbulent relationship. I JUST FIND IT REALLY INTERESTING that alhaitham is like, "mind your business and ill mind my business what ever bye" but when it comes to kaveh hes like. no actually i have to debate you. the way you feel isnt wrong however your actions make your life really hard for yourself and you could be living better if you changed" like he cannot stay in his lane when kaveh is involved!!!!! and like the whole reason he's even IN the parade of providence event at all was bc he was pursuing a thread of research that he figured out was connected to kavehs dad and his disappearance!!! mister "i dont want to get involved if it doesnt disrupt my life" got involved to give his boy some closure on the haunting of his dead father!!!!!!!!!! Me vs FF14

So. On an unrelated note. I finally finished all of those class-quests. With only a few MSQ-quests remaining.

I've however decided that, regardless of if I end up buying this game some day down the road, this character will forever-remain F2P, so this is pretty much as far as it'll ever go.

Except for Weaver and Fisher, I haven't actually finished any DoH DoL quests since level 50 though. So I guess there's still plenty of story-grinding remaining. But yeah, this is what "no marketplace access" does to a playthrough.

Does the final fantasy mmo you play (i’m not good at roman numerals but i think it’s 14) have a cleric/medic equivalent? I’d like to play a mmo with my friends and i’m usually a healer in these types of games

it's 14 yeah! also yes it does have healers!! the game runs with the "holy trinity" of multiplayer party makeup, so there are tanks, healers, and DPS. they're always adding new jobs w every expansion of varying role types but right now there are 4 tanks and 4 healers! and you can play all of them at any time on a single character btw!!! they each have their own playstyle and they don't share experience so there's a LOT to chew on and progress even if u literally only play healer :)

right now i'm still catching up on getting them fully leveled, my favorite healer job AESTHETICALLY is Sage, but it's easily the most complicated healer to play since it's very focused on MITIGATING damage rather than healing it outright, and when you do heal it's usually done through offensive attacks that in turn heal a party member of your choice. it's super cool though.

the past few weeks i've also been progressing White Mage, which is easily the most standard healer job and as a result it's very easy and fun to wrap ur head around and it makes healing larger-scale or higher difficulty content much more approachable! it's all straight up health recovery and regen!

but yeah anyway!!! the healers in this game are great fun! i highly recommend giving it a shot!!!

I am having extremely specific and niche ideas I must share. Specifically headcanons for Danny Phantom characters playing World of Warcraft

I feel like Sam would have been the first of them to get into WoW. Something other to play than Doomed, with a heavier focus on questing. She'd play on a PVP server and would be something of a legend on her realm.

She'd pretty much do everything, from hardcore raiding, to achievement hunting, to a little roleplaying on the side with friends.

She'd have two characters she swaps between, a troll warlock and an undead rogue, and would have the most min-maxed gear she can possibly get at all times. A "for the Horde!" girlie all the way. The warlock has tailoring/enchanting for professions, and the rogue mining/jewelcrafting, and she's got every recipe she can get her hands on for both.

I could see Sam trying to get Tucker and Danny into WoW, only to be wildly disappointed with their character decisions as both of them cozy up Alliance-side on a roleplaying realm.

Tucker takes one glance at worgen and goes "I'm gonna be a fucking werewolf" and it's all over from there. His main would be a guardian/feral druid (tank and melee dps) with the corniest RP name you've ever seen, and he loves them dearly. He's always looking for new transmog to dress up with, and he takes his mining/engineering professions a little too seriously. He mostly plays with Danny, but probably has a horde alt Sam forced him to make so they could actually play together before cross-faction became a thing (I am being intentionally Vague about what expansions they'd be playing in).

Tucker's horde alt would be a tauren druid that ALSO runs engineering. Pretty much the same character, especially considering he spends 90% of his time in animal forms.

Danny would start off playing a night elf monk and would get more into the RP of it than he ever wants to openly admit. He loves all of the flips and shit the monks do, and he's all in on the night elf aesthetic. He swaps between mistweaver and windwalker (healer and DPS), depending on what him and Tucker need to get shit done. He doesn't really focus a lot on the professions, instead going for dual gathering with mining and herbalism so he just has a lot of rocks and plants to throw at Tucker or onto the auction house.

After the accident though, Danny takes a long, staring look at death knights and decides he needs to play one-- for the memes. He's dogshit at it after playing monk for so long, but you can pry his frost (dps) death knight from his cold, half-dead hands.

The DK is just another night elf and when he's RPing, Danny likes to say it's the same character as the monk.

(Also I specifically think that Danny would play a nelf instead of a draenei because, as a trans Danny truther, I feel like the too-buff male draeneis would be a little Much for him, and the femme ones would be too dysphoric.)

Val would very begrudgingly start playing WoW with them once she joins Team Phantom. She'd go Horde-side with Sam, with a tauren warrior decked head to toe in red. She quickly gets sucked into the game, and gets a little intense with farming for all of the things she wants-- mounts, cool transmog, some battle pets. She likes to do a lot of content alone, finding it fun to just go off questing, but she'll let herself be dragged into dungeons ever now and then. She just doesn't have the time or energy for raiding consistently.

Val winds up making a bunch of different alts eventually to keep collecting shit, and she gets scary good at gold farming so she can pay for her subscription with in-game currency. She's got a bunch of different professions she runs on her various alts, but the warrior's got mining/blacksmithing since the idea of making her own armor won her out.

Dani plays on a laptop bought with Vlad's money, on a subscription also bought with Vlad's money. She takes one look at Val and Sam playing Horde-side and decides there is no other side to play.

She mains a vulpera hunter and is a troll through and through. She lives up to the hunter stereotype of accidentally pulling everything, but makes up for it by being scary good at DPS and PVP. Her and Val do a lot of mog and mount farming together, and some of her favorite things to collect are the battle pets and toys. She's got Meerah's Jukebox (a toy that plays a song about alpacas before exploding) hotkeyed to drop at a moment's notice.

She winds up getting a little too invested in alchemy, insisting she needs to be good at making goop.

Wes would not play WoW, and would instead play FFXIV and would never shut up about how much better it is than WoW.

Bonus:

Lancer plays a lot of WoW during the summer when school is out. He's got a human mage who looks a bit like a buff version of him that he's been playing since the game released, and he's got all sorts of achievements and collectibles held onto from that era. He runs herbalism/inscription as a profession, and has every recipe for it under the sun. He still insists on riding his first horse mount that he ever got, and it has a Shakespearean name.

Guild Wars 2, as an MMO, was honestly an extreme game changer when it first came out.

Keep in mind, GW2 came out 11 years ago. While a lot of the things GW2 does now are commonplace among newer MMOs, GW2 was a trailblazer for a lot of it and still manages to hold an identity of its own. Prior to GW2, expecting a high quality MMO with no subscription fee was ludicrous. Sure, you had games like Maplestory or RuneScape, but while popular, they lacked the sort of polish you'd expect from a game like WoW.

11 years ago, most games with gathering basically had pvp gathering, where if you decided to harvest from the same node as someone else, you were effectively stealing resources from them. GW2 said fuck that and made each resource node individualized. This extended even further to other areas of play - someone helping you kill a monster doesn't result in less exp or loot for you, when doing an event everyone is able to get a gold completion as long as they reach a certain level of individual contribution, and even reviving people gave exp. This all contributed to a very friendly air about the game where in other games these actions were often adversarial, in GW2 these actions were all mutually beneficial.

When GW2 first came out, most MMOs had fairly simple combat. You often had to position yourself, but a hit was a hit. Being able to choose where you place your AoE was rare and most skills either required a target or purely existed to provide buffs. Skill shots were rare, and active dodging was unheard of. GW2 looked at combat and said "Okay but what if it was fun?". This was further enhanced by simply eschewing the traditional holy trinity of Tank, Healer, DPS in favor of Control, Support, Damage. There were clear analogs, but with no way of generating enmity and every possible build having some amount of self sustain, what would normally be a tank would focus more on disabling enemies and what would normally be a healer would focus more on general buffs. The GW2 trinity also allowed builds to dip into multiple aspects at once and most builds do a little of each even if they focus on one in particular. This made PvP more engaging as well! sPvP and WvW are both two massive areas of gameplay for GW2 and if it was combat standard for the time the game was released, both would have to function in massively different ways. GW2 remains my favorite game for PvP outside of FPS games.

Freely respeccing your characters was another thing GW2 brought to the table in a big way. FFXIV technically had it first, but given that ARR wouldn't launch until a year after GW2, I'd wager the two games had an equal amount of influence over newer MMOs adopting this sort of freedom in character building. WoW would not introduce free respeccing anywhere you want until 2016.

There is so much more GW2 can be cited for, from the way the world adapts to various events, to simply deciding that there wasn't going to be a gear treadmill and 80 is the max level forever, to the way it just gently guides you through leveling instead of sending you down endless amounts of quests.

Prior to GW2's release, whenever I talked about a new and upcoming MMO I was excited for, I would inevitably hear someone talk about how "Every upcoming MMO gets called the next WoW killer and none of them actually do it". I haven't heard that for about 10 years now.

Geto- Zhongli... like he'll main him first. Then Gojo mains Childe 💀. Al Haitham also fits him. Only whales on characters he likes. WAIT he also def likes Yae Miko. His builds would be god tier honestly

Shoko- Hu Tao... she loves her. She's def the type to only pull for the woman. Doesn't whale but occasionally spends.

Nanami- this was tough bc I don't think he'd actually play 😭 but let's say he was forced. I'm thinking Diluc. He just vibes with him. Plus Diluc is a gentleman and so is Nanami so.

Choso- hear me out... Kokomi. He just loves playing healer 😭 and he thinks she is pretty. That's all. Definitely plays with Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara. And does not spend money.

Yuji- I'm stuck. I feel like he'd have a lot of good DPS built. But mains Bennett.... He also loves Eula for sure. And I think he'd use Itto too.

Megumi- Xiao. Nothing else to say here. He also uses other characters but Xiao is his favorite. Good builds too.

Nobara- Fischl. I think she'd really like her character design and just stick with her. I think she'd also like Ningguang because of her outfits.

Maki- gives me strong Beidou vibes. She definitely likes using anyone with a claymore tho.
