You werenât particularly looking forward to the next three days.Â
Not that you didnât love your mother. You were happy for her. After your father died almost eight years ago she deserved to be happy again. To be loved by someone.Â
You just had a weird feeling about this trip, and you couldnât say exactly why.
You had moved back to Austin for a couple of months after your father died. You had been between jobs and while you did not particularly enjoy the summer heat of Texas, or living in your childhood room, you were glad you had been there for your mother.Â
You only took the job that had been offered you in Seattle because she told you that it was time. That she was okay. That it was time to live your life. You only left because you knew your brother Sean was moving back to Austin to start his new job in the weeks after you left.Â
âHave you met her new man yet?â You asked Sean as you sat in the passenger seat of his car.Â
Thankfully he had offered his guest bedroom for your three day stay. Not that you wouldnât like staying with your mom, but you were pretty sure you could not hide the fact that you had gotten pregnant from a stranger four months ago from her, when you would be staying with her 24/7.Â
Your brother was a bit more⌠oblivious.Â
You werenât showing yet, and even though you knew you had to tell your family at some point, you werenât ready to do it right now.Â
You wondered when you were ready to tell them, but that was a problem for next week you, who could lock herself into her apartment back home in Seattle.Â
Of course you knew this wouldnât just go away, but additionally to the fact that you had gotten pregnant, you had no way of contacting the father, leaving you as a single mom.Â
You only knew his first name. You didnât get a chance to learn more about him.Â
You closed your eyes, letting your head fall against the window of Seanâs car.Â
âI havenât met him. I only know he has a Construction company with his brother. Thatâs how mom and him met,â he said. You nodded.Â
âShe seems happy. I hope heâs nice,â you sighed.
âWhat about you? Someone in your life I need to have a big brother talk with?â He asked and you scoffed.Â
âI found out that all men are assholes,â you rolled your eyes and Sean laughed.Â
âCould have told you that before,â he grinned and you punched his arm and he winced with a dramatic ouch.Â
âAnyway. No men. Might get a cat,â and a baby you added in your head.Â
âIâm allergic to cats,â he reminded you.Â
âRemind me how that is my problem?â
It was a nice neighbourhood Sean drove his car through, looking for the address your mother gave you. It was a typical suburban neighbourhood.Â
Kids playing on the front lawn.Â
A men washing his car.Â
Women who took care of the little garden that wasnât burnt by the sun yet.Â
Fuck, you forgot how hot Texas was during the summer.Â
âHere we are,â Sean hummed and you followed his gaze as he parked the car in the driveway of a two story home behind a black pick up truck. Your mothers Honda was standing parked next to it.Â
You gave yourself a moment to gather your thoughts while you looked at the house.Â
It was a nice house. You could see that someone was keeping it maintained and loved. There was a big tree with a swing outside and you wondered if the man had kids too. Before you could look closer at the house the front door opened and your mother stepped out, a big smile on her face.Â
âHere goes nothing,â Sean said and you shook your head with a small smile before you opened the door.Â
Arms were wrapped around you almost the moment you stepped out of the car, your mother pulling you in a tight hug.Â
âMy baby,â she whispered against your ear and you smiled, wrapping your arms around her.
âHi mom,â you said, suddenly overwhelmed by your emotions as you fought down the tears. She kissed your cheek before she looked at you with a warm smile.Â
âI missed you,â she said.
âMissed you too,â you mumbled and she squeezed you softly.
âWhat about me?â Sean interrupted and you rolled your eyes.Â
âWhat about you?â Your mother asked with a grin.Â
âDidnât you miss your son?â He poured and you shook your head with a laugh.
âI saw you yesterday. I brought you and John leftover lasagna,â your mother reminded him and he shrugged before he hugged her too.Â
You took a moment to look around the neighbourhood when you heard the door behind you open again.Â
âCome on. Joel has been grilling steaks in the backyard. Theyâre to die for,â your mother said and you allowed yourself a moment to close your eyes as you heard the name.Â
The last time you heard it, it was you who said it, moaned it. He had you pressed against the mattress, thrusting deeply into you, whispering filth into your earâŚ
You shook your head. Not the time.Â
âKids, I want you to meet Joel Miller,â your mother took your hand and you turned around with a welcoming smile that froze as your eyes landed on the man in front of you. Dark familiar brown eyes finding yours. His eyes widened for a second before he looked away from you, holding his hand out for your brother to shake.Â
You blinked your eyes a couple times, trying to make him disappear. It couldnât be him. There was no way that this wasâŚ.
Your mothers arm sneaked around his waist, his arm around her shoulders. You saw him take a deep breath before he turned his body towards you, holding his hand out for you to shake.Â
âAnd this is my daughter,â your mother introduced you with your name and you were hoping that whatever you were feeling right now was not showing on your face.Â
As if on autopilot you pulled your hand up to meet his, your whole body reacting to his touch as his hand squeezed yours, fighting down the thoughts of how this hand touched you the last time you were close to each other.Â
âNice to meet you,â he said and you gulped, meeting his eyes.Â
âNice to meet you too, Joel.â
Five-ish months earlier
It was pure luck that you got a hotel room for the night. Your flight back home to Seattle had been canceled due to a hurricane warning and you had rushed to the first airport hotel in Phoenix, the airport you had been stranded on on your way back from New York.Â
Of course you had no idea some kind of construction job fair networking event thing was held at exactly this hotel for the whole weekend. Though it did explain the price of the room.
You ignored the absurd price tag to the last room you were able to get, making your way with the keycard in hand towards the elevator that would bring you to the 11th floor where you room was.Â
Waiting in front of the elevator you let your eyes wander through the impressive foyer before the doors of the elevator in front of you opened. You gripped your suitcase before you looked up again, meeting the eyes of the man who was stepping out of the elevator.Â
He gave you a small smile, holding the elevator for you, as he stepped out.Â
You swallowed slowly, giving him a thankful smile, walking past him into the elevator. Your eyes slipped close as you smelled his aftershave, your back turned towards him before you turned around, facing him. He was still standing in front of you. He was taller than you, dressed completely in black, dark jeans with a black dress shirt tucked into his pants. The first buttons of his shirt were opened, the sleeves rolled back over his tanned muscular forearms, the ends of a black tattoo just so visible on his arm, making you wonder what exactly it was.Â
He was by all means one of the most attractive men you had ever seen in your life.
And at least twenty years older than you.Â
There was an amused smile on his lips as as your eyes finally landed on his, having of course noticed you checking him out.Â
You felt your cheeks warming as his dark eyes looked at you.Â
âThank you,â you blurted out and he raised his eyebrows.Â
âFor holding the elevator,â you clarified, feeling stupid. So fucking stupid.Â
You took a deep breath, which was a dumb idea because he and his aftershave had been in this elevator before and it was mouthwatering. Raising your hand you pushed the button for the eleventh floor.Â
âYouâre welcome,â he said and fuck, even his voice was sexy.Â
He was about to say more when someone clapped on his shoulder.Â
"Come on Joel. Letâs get some drinks,â a man said to, dressed similar.Â
The last thing you saw from the man you know knew was named Joel were his eyes on you, winking, as the elevator closed.Â
While your initial plain consisted of ordering room service and watching the Bachelor until you fell asleep, one phone call with your best friend after making it to the hotel room left you getting your little black dress out (well not so little, but it was one of the nicer dresses you owned) and putting some light make up on.Â
You couldnât exactly explain what it was that you were doing, but deep down you knew you would regret not going down to the bar and maybe finding that man, Joel, again. Even if you would only look at him from afar like a creepy stalker.Â
You never made the first step and your best friend made the very logical point that if you embarrassed yourself for some reason, you would never see the man again.Â
Nervously talking a last look into the mirror you walked out of the bathroom, switching the lights off.Â
Sitting down on your bed you took a deep breath.Â
What were you doing?
You did not know this man. You havenât even really talked to him. He was older than you. And probably married. Or a serial killer. Not that you had a chance with someone who looked like that. You would probably humiliate yourself, chasing after some guy who was just trying to be nice to a stranger.Â
âWhy am I like this?â You whined, letting yourself fall back against the bed.Â
Closing your eyes you tried to relax.
You could do this. You never went for what you wanted. And you wanted him.Â
âOne drink,â you said to yourself before you got up from the bed, got your heels on and walked out of your room.Â
You had just gotten your first drink when you felt someone sit down next to you. A shy smile sneaked onto your face, because before you had even looked at the man sitting next to you, you had smelled his aftershave.Â
He was already looking at you when you finally turned towards him.Â
âMind if I sit here?â He asked and your smile widened.Â
âNot at all,â you said.
âJoel,â you gasped, your head falling back against the door of your room he had pressed you against.Â
Not even in your wildest dreams did you imagine this outcome when you decided to get down to the bar. You didnât even think he was really interested. But the more you talked, the closer you got. His warmth against your side as your feet ran up his thigh when he told you about his work. About his life.Â
About how he hasnât stopped thinking about what you might look like when you came.Â
âSo fucking pretty,â he hummed before his lips crashed down on yours. One of his hands pinning your arms over your head against the door while his other hand pushed your skirt slowly up, his fingers running up your thigh.Â
âFuck,â you moaned, your legs already shaking and he hadnât even touched you really yet.Â
His lips wandered down your throat and you could feel him smile against your skin, his teeth carefully nibbling at your skin as his hand slipped between your legs, finding your drenched.Â
âYou gonna let me eat this pussy?â He hummed and you groaned.Â
âPlease,â you gasped. He chuckled, his finger slowly pushing your panties aside.Â
âBet you taste delicious,â he grinned before his head dipped between your breasts. He kissed the top of them, inhaling deeply.Â
âSmell so fucking good,â he hummed. He let go of his grip around your wrist but you kept them up.Â
âGood girl,â he hummed and kissed you.Â
âWant you to get naked for me and lay down on your bed, can you do that for me?â he asked. You licked your lips, nodding your head.Â
You hooked your fingers into the straps of your dress, slowly pushing them down your shoulder, Joelâs dark eyes following your every move. His finger still slowly swiping through your pussy.Â
Reaching around you unhooked your bra, your eyes on him, slipping it down your arms, letting it fall to the ground.Â
His jaw tensed, his eyes taking you in.Â
He took a step back from you, his touch leaving you and you slipped your dress down your body, your panties too.Â
Stepping out of them you walked slowly towards the bed, getting out of your heels but he stopped you.Â
âKeep them on,â he grunted and you nodded with a small grin.Â
Walking past him towards your bed your sat down, slipping back until you were sitting in the middle of the bed, completely naked, safe for your heels.Â
âSo fucking pretty,â Joel said, shaking his head as if he couldnât believe he was here right now. You let your eyes wander down his broad body, your mouth salivating when you noticed the prominent outline of his cock through his dark jeans.Â
âSpread those legs for me,â he said and you tilted your head up to look into his eyes.Â
The way he looked at you made you feel incredibly sexy, confident, powerful.Â
Slowly you angled your legs, letting them fall open for him.Â
He sucked his bottom lip in, just look at your pussy that was so wet you were sure you were dripping onto the sheets beneath you.Â
âGod fucking damn,â he groaned and slowly began to unbutton his shirt.Â
Your greedy eyes took in every inch of skin he revealed to your eyes, dying to run your hands and tongue over his broad chest. He carefully slipped his shirt from his upper body, taking great care to hang it over the back of a chair.Â
When he turned back towards you, seeing your amused expression he shrugged.Â
âNeed to wear that again tomorrow. Canât have your pussy all over it,â he explained nonchalantly. Â
âOn my face on the other handâŚ.â he winked before he slowly joined you on the bed, laying down on his chest right between your legs.Â
His lips kissed up your inner thigh, his beard deliciously scratching over your skin the closer he got to where you were dripping for him.Â
Your eyes followed his every move, his dark eyes fixed on you as you saw his lip part, leaning in. You felt his tongue dip into your slit, licking up, teasing your clit all while he moaned as if he just tasted heaven.Â
âFucking knew it,â he groaned. His arms slipped around your upper thighs, pulling you against his mouth, before dove in. Driving you positively insane with his wicked tongue as he slowly but surely brought you to what you would later would find out, first orgasm of the night.Â
Your fingers were wrapped around the soft strands of his hair as he held you down, licking into you until you came undone, crying out in pleasure as your orgasm left you gasping for air.Â
He cleaned you with his tongue, carefully, as you tried to normalise your breathing and heart rate. When he was finished he just looked up at you, his cheek resting on your thigh, his chin glistening with you.
âBetter than I imagined,â he whispered, kissing your thigh.
âHuh?â You asked confused.Â
He grinned.Â
âYour face when you cum,â he winked and you flushed, warmth spreading over your whole body.Â
Sitting yourself up you reached for him, pulling him up until he was laying on top of you, your hands in his hair as you pulled him towards you, kissing him deeply. You wrapped your legs around his back, wanting him closer.Â
He moaned against your lips, his tongue dipping into your mouth.Â
âI want you to fuck me,â you whispered against his lips.Â
âI intend to. As often as you let me,â he hummed back, kissing you again.Â
He grabbed a pillow when he parted from you, pushing it under your hips before he got up from the bed, getting out of his jeans and boxers. You couldnât help but bite your lip when you saw his cock for the first time.Â
Dying to have him inside of you butâŚ.
âJoel,â you said softly and he looked at you.Â
âItâs been some timeâŚ. Years and IâŚâ you suddenly felt shy, not knowing how to carry on.Â
He grabbed something before he slowly sat down on the bed. He came to rest on his side, right next to you.Â
âWe donât have to do anything you donât want to,â he promised, his hand on your cheek. You turned to your side, looking at him.
âI want to. I just want you to know that itâs been a while and well⌠youâre fucking huge,â you shrugged with a awkward laugh. He chuckled, his fingers on your chin tilting it up, so you had to look at him.Â
âYou may be surprised, but I donât do this often either,â he said and while your first reaction was to scoff and not believe him, his expression remained honest and open and you believed him.Â
Slowly your brought one of your hands up to rest on his warm chest, right against his heart feeling it beat.Â
âOkay,â you whispered and leaned in to kiss him. He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you against him as he kissed you. One of his legs came between yours, his thigh meeting your pussy, making you gasp.Â
You just kissed for a while, touching, getting familiar with each other before he slowly turned you so you were back to laying on your back, him hovering over you.Â
He parted form your lips, reaching for a condom and you realised that this must have been what he grabbed earlier. He gave you a sheepish smile as he ripped the package open, sitting himself up so he could slip the condom on.Â
âThought you might get lucky huh?â You teased and he grinned.Â
âHoped,â he clarified, lining himself up the tip of his cock slipping into you without any resistance.Â
âFor the record, I have an IUD,â you said and his eyes darkened but he shrugged his shoulders.Â
âBetter safe than sorry,â he winked before he slowly sank into you.Â
Sex with Joel was not like anything you ever experienced before.Â
He watched your face for any expression, slowing down when he noticed discomfort. He took his time learning what you liked, his sole goal for when he was in your room being your pleasure.Â
He told you that he was here for this construction congress thing, but whenever he did not have to work or shake hands he was with you.Â
You didnât talk about what you were doing. You were living in the moment, not thinking of what would happen once Monday came and you both had to leave this hotel and get back into your lifeâs.
He only had made one rule.Â
Not to catch any feelings.Â
Which you thought you could do.
But he was just so⌠fucking perfect. At least the version of him you got to spend time with.
It was not even the sex, which was positively mind-blowing, mind you. It was the moments after when he held you and told you about his hobbies. About his company. About his life. Always keeping it vague, never saying anything about where he was from.Â
Much like you.Â
On Saturday morning before he had to go to get to a meeting he had you in the shower, your body pressed against the shower wall as he fucked into your from behind, hard, leaving you to moan so loudly when you came that you were sure you would get a noise complaint.Â
It was the only time he fucked you without a condom and came inside of you.
You never had this much sex and it had never ever been this good before.Â
Maybe it was because he was older, maybe it was because there was something moreâŚ.
You hadnât talked about an after.Â
After the sex.
After falling asleep in each others arms.Â
After the conference.Â
You didnât have a chance to talk about a potential after when you woke up Monday morning at 3:22 am, finding the bed next to you cold.Â
At first you thought he was in the bathroom but after a couple of minutes and no sound coming from the room, you sat yourself up, turning the lamp on the bedside table on.Â
You could still feel his cum that had dried on your stomach hours before, when you found a note from him on the bedside table that said
Thank you
Two months later you found out you were pregnant.
Now
He has been ignoring you.Â
Which was making you even angrier, because you did nothing wrong.Â
You were sitting with your mother on the backyard patio enjoying some iced tea, watching your brother and Joel at the grill.Â
You had learned all the important stuff about Joel from your mother in the last ten minutes.
He was forty five, six years younger than your mom, but still much older than you. He had a daughter whose name was Sarah. She was twenty seven, living in Dallas and working as a doctor, about to be married next spring.Â
You were just nodding along, frankly overwhelmed with the situation.Â
You had sex with your mothers boyfriend.Â
Yes, you didnât know it back then, and you had verified with your mother when they met each other, they only started dating after that weekend you had spend with him.Â
But you had slept with him.Â
You were pregnant from him.Â
You were pregnant with your mothers boyfriends child.Â
âAre you okay?â You mother asked. You almost jumped, your ice tea spilling a little.
âSorry. A little tired. Work is busy,â you lied.Â
âIâm so proud of you baby. My little girl is going places,â she smiled and you smiled back. Thankfully your brother sat down next to her, involving her in a conversation. It gave you the chance to sneak away into the house to find the bathroom.Â
You walked by a wall of pictures. Joel was in many of them and the man you had seen back in Phoenix was there too.Â
You smiled when you saw a younger version of Joel next to a girl that looked so much like him. You saw her grow up through the pictures on the wall. You could see that Joel was a proud dad. Always next to her at the milestones of her life.Â
For some reason it made you tear up, your hand coming to rest over your stomach, the bump barely there.Â
Your child would never have this.Â
They would never have a loving father who was there every single day, for every milestone in their life.Â
You couldnât do that to your mother. She was clearly in love with him.Â
But maybe you were in love with him too.Â
No man had made you feel like Joel did before. Yes you had some relationships, even one where you could see yourself getting married before it ended.Â
But JoelâŚ.
The things he made you feel in that hotel room were like nothing you had ever felt before. And not just sexually. You felt safe with him. You felt comfortable with him, even when you were both quiet and just enjoying the moment.Â
You thought it was just a stupid crush at first. Because of the way you met and how it ended.Â
You couldnât fall in love with someone you had only known for three days, right?
But against all odds you did, and you had made your peace with it.Â
You could even understand him leaving you in the middle of the night.Â
He had told you that he was single and not married. And you believed him. You were much younger than him, which would make this⌠thing between the two of you most likely not have a future anyway. And long distance was not something that was easy.Â
You made every excuse in the books for him.Â
But standing here in his house, looking at his life, all you felt was sadness.Â
Sadness over what you wouldnât have.Â
Why did it have to be him?
âYour mother and your brother left to get ice cream for dessert,â Joelâs voice made you jump. You hadnât even heard him come in. Nodding you walked away from this wall of memories, to search for the bathroom your mother had shown your earlier.Â
You felt sick.Â
Joel called your name from behind but you shook your head, almost running, but not getting far when you felt his hand wrap around your wrist, making you stop.Â
âJoel, pleaseâŚâ you whispered, your eyes closed, taking deep breaths.Â
âWe have to talk. IâŚâ
But you didnât hear what he said next because the next hing you knew was you vomiting all over his shoes.Â
And then⌠nothing.
Your head was pounding when you came back to. You could hear voices as if they talked through cotton.Â
Groaning you brought your hand up, rubbing it over your temple.Â
Fuck.Â
You vomited all over Joel and then youâŚ.
You passed out?
One hand came to rest over your stomach, your eyes blinking open in panic.Â
Were you okay? Was your baby okay? What the fuck happened?
âHey honey. Slow down. Joel said you passed out?â You felt your mother take your hand. You were laying on the couch, wondering how you got there.Â
A million thoughts went through your head, but on the forefront was your worry about your baby. The baby no one knew about.
You were close to hyperventilating when you felt a hand on your back, soothingly rubbing up and down your spine, guiding you to take deep breaths, his voice soothing you almost instantly.Â
Your mother was still holding your hand, looking worriedly at you when you turned your head to look at Joel. He was so close you could smell him.
Tears sprang into your eyes as you looked away from him to your mom.Â
âI need to see a doctor,â you whispered and your mother softly squeezed your hand, Joelâs hand on your back stopping.Â
âAre you in pain?â She asked alarmed. You shook your head.Â
âNo. ButâŚâ you gulped, looking quickly to Joel before you looked back at your mother.Â
âI need to check if the baby is okay,â you began to cry, your eyes closing, missing the reaction of the people kneeling next to you.Â
âBaby?â Your mother asked. You sucked your bottom lip in, nodding slowly before your eyes opened.Â
You saw the tears in your mothers eyes, surprise clearly in her face before she leaned in and hugged you softly, kissing your cheek, your eyes meeting Joelâs whose eyes were fixed on you, his jaw clenched, his eyes narrowed as if he was trying to figure something out.Â
He wasnât stupid.Â
You told him that first night that it had been years since you had been with someone before him. You had no reason to lie to him, not that he knew that.Â
His eyes widened when you kept looking at him, clearly having made the math.Â
Your mother looked at you with a warm smile.Â
âYou have to tell me everything. But lets get you to see a doctor first.â
Faith really must have a field day today with you.Â
Joel drove you and your mother to the next hospital, your brother having to leave to pick up his boyfriend from work. He made you promise to call once you knew everything was okay. He would be waiting for you at his place.Â
And now you were in the maternity wing, waiting for the doctor to come and make an ultrasound to check if everything was okay.Â
With Joel waiting with you in the room, as far away from you as he could be without leaving.Â
Your mother was trying to get in touch with your doctor back in Seattle, leaving Joel with you to wait.Â
Joel hadnât said a single word to you since you left his house. You felt his eyes on you but you were stubbornly looking everywhere but at him.Â
This was not how you planned this.Â
Then again, you had never planned this situation, had you?
You thought you would never see Joel again. You were starting to make your peace with that fact. Not only having gotten pregnant by a man whose last name you didnât even know, no but falling in love with the same man.Â
How could you have predicted that you would meet him again like that?
If you allowed yourself to dream about running into him again, it was definitely not while meeting him as your moms new boyfriend.Â
The door opened and you looked up, your eyes meeting Joels for a second before you saw an older woman walk in, a warm smile on her face.Â
âI read that you passed out today?â She asked after she introduced herself.Â
âYeah,â you nodded.Â
She sat down on the chair next to the table you were laying on, looking through the file your mother had filled out for your while you had waited.Â
âAnything in particular happened before you passed out?â She asked and your eyes briefly met Joels before you looked at her.Â
âMight be a combination of stress and the weather? I am not used to the heat anymore,â you have her a shy smile.Â
She nodded at you, setting the file down.Â
âI can see that your blood pressure is a little high, but thatâs not too bad yet. Letâs check on the baby, shall we?â She asked and you nodded.Â
Your pulled your shirt up and she warned you softly that this would be a little cold as she put the gel onto your stomach. You winced a little and she winked at you before she reached for the wand.Â
âIs this dad?â She asked you before she looked at Joel.Â
You looked at him for the first time then. Really looked at him. His whole body was tensed, his arms crossed in front of his chest, his gaze on you, but it felt like he was looking through you.Â
Though his eyes did find yours when he heard the question, probably wondering what you would say.Â
And even if you would want to tell the truth, you had to talk to him first.Â
So you shook your head before you looked at the doctor again.Â
âJust a friend of my mom. She should be here any minute,â you said and the doctor nodded.Â
It took a little while before the heartbeat of your child filled the room. You looked at the monitor, smiling relieved as you saw the little blob, your baby, on the screen.Â
âIt looks like everything is just fine,â the Doctor said and you shakily breathed out. She smiled softly at you, clicking some buttons on the machine and you just kept looking at your baby, oblivious to Joel having made his way over to you to take a closer look.Â
âYouâre at 17 weeks and the little bean looks as healthy as it can be. I want you to take it a little easier. Make sure to take some breaks and if youâre not used to the heat, maybe stay indoors. Where is home?â She asked
âSeattle,â you said and she sighed.Â
âToo much rain for me. But I can understand why this all was a little much for you here. To be on the safe side, see your Doctor once you get back for a check up,â she said. You nodded. Her head tilted up and you followed her gaze, surprised to find Joel standing next to you, his eyes fixed on the screen with an unreadable expression.Â
âDo you want me to print out a copy for your mom?â The doctor asked. You nodded, your eyes still fixed on Joel.Â
âCan I get three copies maybe? My mom, me andâŚâ you gulped, âfor the father?â You looked away from Joel as his head turned to look at you.Â
The doctor smiled at you.Â
âOf course.â
And while she worked, the heartbeat of your baby still filling the empty room you allowed yourself to look at Joel who had tears in his eyes as he looked at you.
Your mother hadnât stopped asking questions on the whole way back from the hospital.Â
âWhy didnât you tell me?â
âI would have eventually.â
âDo you have a boyfriend?â
âNo.â
âWho is the father?â
âHeâs not in the picture.â
âWhy?â
âBecause.â
You could feel Joelâs eyes on you the whole way back to your brother, your head stubbornly turned towards the window, watching the Austin Landscape fly by.Â
âAre you happy?â Your mother asked as the truck parked in front of your brothers house.Â
It was a good question. Were you happy?
The situation was a mess. It was⌠straight out of a soap opera but much more complicated.Â
But apart from that? You becoming a mom?
âYeah. I am happy,â you answered.Â
âThen I am happy for you. Gosh, Iâm gonna be a Grandma!â She smiled and you chuckled.Â
âYeah. You are.â
âAre you gonna move back here?â She asked. You shook your head.Â
âI donât think so. I like Seattle. I have all my friends there and my job,â you looked at her. She had turned in her seat so she could look at you.Â
âI understand. And I donât want to talk you into something, I know you have a great support system in Seattle. But⌠you have one here too. Sean would never say it, but he misses you deeply. And you know I would love to see you more,â she reached over to squeeze your arms softly.Â
âMomâŚâ you sighed.
âI know. I just wanted to say it,â you looked away from her, looking at Joel for a moment who hadnât said anything since leaving the hospital.Â
âIâll get out of your hair. Sorry for all this mess today,â you said.
âItâs perfectly fine. Iâll walk you to the door,â your mother said, already getting out of the car, throwing the door closed behind her. You took a deep breath, still looking at Joel as you reached for the third copy of the sonogram, having written your phone number on the back of it.Â
Without saying a word, you put it face down on the armrest at the front seat before you got out of the car and walked to your brothers house.Â
You did not really expect Joel to call you, but you were still left disappointed.Â
Not that you could not understand him.Â
He was probably as overwhelmed with the whole situation as you were. But you wanted to talk to him. You had to talk to him. You had a long talk with your brother when you got to his place. You had told him about meeting this man while you were stranded at the airport and how you spend three days with him in your bed. You told him that the rule was to just live in the moment and enjoy the time you had together, but that it left you heartbroken when he just disappeared in the middle of the night, nowhere to be found.Â
You also told him that somehow even though you had an IUD and he used condoms every single time but that one time in the shower, that the man had still managed to get you pregnant.Â
Sean held you while you talked. His boyfriend John sitting across from you.Â
âSounds to me like you fell for him,â John said and you groaned.Â
âI know. So fucking stupid. How can you fall in love with a man you know nothing about?â You whined.
âWell you may not know much about him. But you clearly clicked on some way. If he had been looking for a quick fuck, he would have left after the first time you had sex. But he came back to you. Probably until he had to leave himself. And you said he was older. Maybe he didnât see a future,â John said.Â
âOr maybe he was married,â your brother grunted and you punched him lightly in the stomach.
âWhat? You donât know for certain if he was,â he argued.
You sat there in silence for a couple of minutes.Â
âYou have no way of contacting the guy?â Sean asked softly.Â
You could lie. But you wanted to tell someone, and you knew your brother would keep your secret if you asked him.Â
So you told him.Â
âI do now,â you whispered.
âWhat do you mean?â He asked.Â
âYou gonna hate me,â you closed your eyes, hiding against his chest.Â
âI canât hate you. Youâre my favourite little sister,â he teased and you laughed quietly.Â
âI am your only sister,â you reminded him and he shrugged.Â
You sucked your bottom lip in, nibbling on it.Â
âIt was Joel,â you whispered, feeling your brother tense next to you.Â
âI met him almost five months ago in Phoenix. It was before he even met mom,â you sobbed quietly. His arms tightened around you and you felt him release a long breath.Â
âWell fuck. ThatâsâŚ.â He began.
âA fucking mess?â you helped.
âYou could say that.â
A moment of quiet passed before John said.Â
âDid he say anything?â John asked and you turned your head, resting your cheek on your brothers chest as you opened your eyes to look at his boyfriend.
âDidnât really get the chance to talk. First I vomited all over him and then mom was always there. IâŚ. Did sneak him my number. So⌠I hope he calls,â you said.
âI can talk to him,â your brother offered but you shook your head.Â
âIf he doesnât contact me, his message will be clear. And I have to move on somehowâŚâ
âDo you think you can? Even if you stay in Seattle. Imagine him and mom stay together or get married. Heâll be around all the time. You would see him every time you come and visit.â
âI donât know,â you whispered.Â
Sean sighed.Â
âWe gonna figure this out. But not today. Itâs been a long day for you. Letâs get you to bed.â
Your mother came over for breakfast the next day, insisting to spend more time with you before you would leave.Â
She made excuses for Joel who had to go to work on a construction site. You didnât really care.Â
You hadnât slept the whole night, you just wanted to go home.Â
To erase the last twenty four hours and live in blissful denial.Â
It was afternoon when she left, promising to come and see you the next morning before your brother dropped you off at the airport.Â
And she did. With a gift basket for mothers to be, bringing tears to your eyes.Â
She made you promise to call more, hugging you goodbye when Sean said it was time to get you to the airport.Â
You left Austin on a 11am flight.Â
And Joel did not call.

hi long time mutual, I know it's probably pretty obvious from my posting, but I finished aa6 a few days ago and I wasn't expecting to come out of it a slightly incoherent mess that keeps trying to rotate all its flaws into something sensible, I would appreciate you sharing some thoughts or opinions on it or recommending good fanfic to read about it (you don't have to, though). Thank you for looking at this đ
hooooooooooough boy okay SO i saw this ask in my notifs and immediately ran to grab my laptop so i can actually write a response you are in for a RIDE you've activated my unskippable cutscene i could go on and on and on forever about aa6 it is everything to me
first off: what flaws. its like, on par with every other aa game erhghdflhk theyve all got a couple; people just dont like aa5/6 and nitpick it way too much its exhausting ffjgh
second: *slaps roof of khura'in* [SCREECHES]
i have so many headcanons and worldbuilding ideas about khura'in that the game only barely covers/implies/isnt able to show in the limited "only there for half the game" timeframe, not only about the judicial system but also about culture and religion and food and language and climate and--
im gonna put a read more.
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi. bottom text. hi this guy is ourple! and very precious to me hes SO special i am holding him tightly but also what is đ buddy whadda hell.
so the wiki says he's a "childhood friend" of apollo's and lists Dhurke as his "foster father" but also like. he was raised by that man for his formative years. thats his dad. yuty is his brother. very very VERY much so. ga'ran literally refers to them as brothers. yuty says "our father". idk what the wiki isn't seeing theyre brothers and i love their dynamic so much
that being said! their entire dynamic hinges on the fact that neither of them have seen each other since they were aged in the single digits, half a lifetime ago. theyre practically strangers. and that shit is so fascinating to me because you have to realise that theyve changed so much over the last thirteen or so years that theyre practically unrecognisable as the kid the other grew up with. its heartbreaking
see also: how bad do you have to fuck up for all three of your kids to call you by your first name
i am utterly enamoured by how much this game gives you in terms of this family dynamic. Apollo justice can't catch a break. first your sister (not that he knows but he certainly feels like she is) gets fuckin arrested on charges of murder and then you find out the prosecutor for it is your brother. and you're like. oh okay thats weird why's he a prosecutor isnt the DCA what we-- excuse me he what.
look. i think yuty in court is hilarious. he, a monk of a religion that wouldnt have an afterlife or hell simply due to the existence of spirits and channelling. and he spouts all that bullshit and nobody calls him out on it because what are you gonna do? tell the foreigner he's not allowed to talk about his beliefs? apollo, dont be rude he's a guest, athena says. apollo glares across the courtroom, knowing he doesn't believe a single word coming out of his own mouth.
yuty in court also has this subtle difference in demeanour between western and khura'inese courts. he's a little more lax in america i swear on every god out there nobody believes me when i say this but i swear it exists.
despite being highly ranked in the faith, or at least held in higher regard due to his status as both a prosecutor and someone close to the Khura'in royal family; nahyuta also has a lot of respect for the sciences? like. despite the fact that the sĂŠance is the only thing needed in khura'inese courts to convict someone, brings ema over to investigate? he's slowly and surely working against the ga'ran regime, but he can't do it openly because of the threat of rayfa's safety.
thing is, inga did in fact love her as his own daughter, so i think she would've been safe in some way, which makes everything else feel all the more meaningless. yuty practically gave up in those last few years, you can tell in the way dhurke spoke of him to apollo and how he wants to save him, dhurke blames himself entirely for how distant yuty ended up from him, and how he got stuck in ga'ran's web
the final case is meant to feel hopeless, it's such a moment, its the first time we see apollo break in the whole trilogy (bar the off-screen yell over the loss of Clay in 5-4) and he barely pulls himself back together.
but apollo has mr wright by his side during that. nahyuta, on the other side of the courtroom, slowly coming to the same realisation, the same breaking point, has nobody. theyre stuck on opposite sides of the courtroom, ga'ran is viewing it as a triumph, the Dragon is finally dead, and his sons cannot reach for each other, they cannot comfort each other in this time.
Nahyuta's line here? the first time he ever refers to his brother in-game by his first name? the broken, quiet, "a...pol....lo"? YEAH. girlies when i say i cracked
im just saying shit ekdxjghk this is getting LONG i have entire essays in my head if you want to hear more i am literally always down to do so i didn't say much abt the american side of things but GOD DAMN the magical turnabout lives rentfree in my braiiim im growing musheroomes thinking about ittttt
If you liked storyteller and want more 6-4 content may i direct you over to my friend @ashe-hallows
Now. fics.
if you want to read abt rayf pollo truce and yuty trying to navigate around being siblings together, and a prank war, please read my friend @echoing-sounds 's work "this means war (a lesson in bonding)"
my friend @amamillalatortilla 's works, notably "call back to reality", a short AU where during 6-5 yuty gets shot (he's fine, prommy)
she's also written plenty more aa6 fics for sicktember !
between us & then, by pinkstar14. i read this as it was being uploaded, like. i'd click a new chapter and see the number go up. this is everything to me its so much i adore it holy shit it makes me turn into the embodiment of the girlbypool.jpg its just. a bad situation getting worse and worse and you dont see the resolution until the games bc its a prequel lord help me
(also shameless plugs of my own aa6 fics below uwu)
give me two damn minutes (and I'll be fine) , my take on the sibling reveal. if you're going to read any of my fics please let it be this one waugh (this is here bc its set 5 years post aa6 btw lol, and references it a couple times)
or try some of my sicktembers!
unyeilding, unwavering, understanding, in which rayfa's sick, yuty's worried, and apollo is far to perceptive about the real reasons underlying it
who'll save you when you fall?, in which yuty faints, and his siblings try to get him to take better care of himself
awake, awake, you children bold, set after the river incident, just some dhurke and datz coparenting
I have some others too, set at various points both during and post game (and including ema!) but these are my personal faves
aaaaaaaaallrighty! im gonna stop here edfgjshgfjdgdfkgh but please i adore aa6 if you ever want to talk about it i'll be very happy to listen !

You groan softly, before turning around and stopping your alarm.
Itâs Sunday, which normally meant no alarm and sleeping in, but you had plans. Today is Motherâs Day. You normally spent it with your mother going out for brunch, shopping, going to the movies, etc. but in the last year, you had moved in with Chris and he lived really far away from your parentsâ house. You had told your mom that you were going to call her, first thing this morning, to make up for not being able to be with her.
Since you were in Boston with Chris, you were going to be spending Motherâs Day at his momâs house. This meant a big dinner, but it also meant you had to make some food to take it there.
Every single time you went to Lisaâs house, you always brought something whether it was a meal, dessert, wine or a gift. And every single time you brought something, she said you didnât have to do that. You couldnât help it though; it was just how you were raised. Your parents always told you to never show up empty-handed when someone invited you to their home and thatâs exactly what you did.
Today, you were making apple pie for dessert which meant fresh apples and going to the grocery store right at the opening.
Rubbing your eyes, you push the covers off your body and walk to the ensuite bathroom. While brushing your teeth, you take your phone and open Instagram. The first post you see is one that Scott posted a couple of minutes ago. The first picture is a collage of a bunch of pictures of him and his mom. You smile softly at their smiles in the pictures. Sliding, you see other collages with pictures of Scottâs friends and their kids. You double-click on the post, leaving a like, and slide down to the second post. Of course, itâs Chrisâ post to his mom. The first picture is an old picture of them holding each other and smiling. You slide and see that the second picture is from when he took her to the Winter Soldier premiere. You double-click again, liking the post. Youâre about to put your phone down to take a shower but see a bunch of notifications appearing on your screen.
Confused, you refresh your Instagram feed and see a new post by Chris appearing at the top. You frown, seeing yourself from the back in the first picture. You slide down to the caption and gasp softly as you read it: âAlso, happy Motherâs Day to this beautiful woman! We may not have any babies but you sure as hell are Dodgerâs mom. Kinda hate that he likes you more than me now but itâs okay because I love youđâ
You smile as you go through the pictures he posted. The first one is a picture you didnât even know he had taken from when Dodger, Chris and you had gone on a picnic a couple of days ago. The second is a pretty dark and blurry picture that he obviously hid to take. You recognize the angle being from the entrance of the living room. You were laying on the couch, engulfed in a fluffy blanket, with Dodger laying in front of you, his head resting on your stomach. You smile softly, remembering that day.
It was a couple of months ago and you were on your period. You normally didnât have really big cramps but the stress you were feeling had intensified them and you were almost unable to move. When Chris had come back from work, seeing you laying on the couch in pain, he had gone right back out to get you a bunch of food to satisfy your cravings and half a dozen hot compresses because he wasnât sure which one you would like.
Chuckling softly, you slide to the last picture, slightly cringing at your appearance. It was a screenshot from a FaceTime call, right after you had moved in with Chris. He had to leave for a few weeks to film and you were alone with Dodger, who always wanted to see Chris before you hung up. In the picture, you had clearly just woken up and were laughing, probably at something Chris said, with half of Dodgerâs face mid-bark in the frame.
You like the post and scroll through a couple of comments, some nice, others not so much, before putting your phone down.
While in the shower, your mind goes back to a conversation you had with Chris recently. It was after your first big fight.
Everyone knew Chris wanted kids and you obviously did too. But he had brought it up accusingly when you were exhausted and anxious and you had blurted out that you didnât want kids. It wasnât really the truth because you did want kids. And you wanted them with Chris, but you werenât ready. After you had said that, you had a screaming match with Chris that ended up with you sleeping in the guest room, not that much sleeping was done. Halfway through the night, Chris had knocked on the door, asking if you were awake, and you talked to each other, explaining both of your viewpoints: you felt like you werenât ready to be a good mom to a child because you were still dealing with trauma from when you were younger, and Chris felt like his clock was running out. After talking to each other, you had settled on kids in the near future, but not right now.
Getting dressed after your shower, you think about the fact that you hadnât heard a peep from Chris since you had woken up. Considering it was Sunday and Motherâs Day, you knew he couldnât have scheduled a meeting today. He sometimes ran or worked out on Sundays, but you had been up for almost 2 hours now.
Walking to the kitchen, you open your Messages app, ready to send him a text asking where he is when you hear, âDodge, stop, let it go.â
Frowning, you start deleting the message when you hear, âHappy Motherâs Day!â
You shriek, startled, before letting out, âHoly shit!â
You look up at the dining room that is completely decorated. There are colorful banners all around the walls and the table is filled with food from waffles and pancakes to fruits and drinks. Finally, Chris and Dodger are standing in the corner of the room in front of balloons that spell out âMMOâ¤ď¸â. You frown, tilting your head. Chrisâs smile falters as he turns around, groaning, âDodger, I told you to stop moving the balloons.â
He turns around completely, arranging the balloons to say âMOMâ¤ď¸â and turns back around, saying, âTa-da!â
You laugh loudly before walking to Chris, hugging him.
âWhen did you have time to do all this?â
Chris smiles, holding your waist, before yawning and saying, âI got up at like 6 to make all the food and then I got the balloons when the mall opened at 8.â
You wrap your arms around Chris before kissing his cheek.
âWell, thank you, I love it. And I love you.â
You bite your bottom lip, flicking your eyes down to his lips, before leaning towards him. Chris smirks, letting his hand slide to your butt cheek, softly squeezing it before you hear a small whine. You stop moving, slowly looking down. Dodger looks up at you with his big brown eyes, rubbing his snout on your leg.
You smile softly, letting go of Chris before bending down and petting his head.
âYou want some love too, huh, Dodge?â
You rub the back of Dodgerâs ears, hearing a click sound. You turn around, seeing Chris with his phone in his hand. You smile, saying, âDid you just take a picture?â
Chris smiles softly, âNo?â
You chuckle, sitting down and gesturing at Chris to join you. Chris takes one of your hands in his and pets Dodger with the other. You alternate looking at Chris and Dodger before sighing and cupping Chrisâ face in your hands. You kiss him softly, leaning back and saying, âI love you, baby.â
Chris smiles softly, replying, âI love you too.â
You look down, sighing softly. Chris lifts your head up, giving you a knowing look, âWhatâs wrong, baby?â
You chuckle at how perfectly he knows you.
âI know I said I wasnât ready, but I think maybe I am.â
Chrisâ smile widens slowly before he says, âAre you saying what I think youâre saying?â
You nod your head excitedly and Chris lunges at you, tackling you to the ground, planting kisses all over your face. You laugh softly, hearing Dodger bark, before he excitedly starts jumping around Chris and you.
Chris leans back slightly before whispering, âYouâre gonna be the best mom, I just know it.â
You smile softly, kissing his cheek and wrapping your arms around him.

Something in the Rain - âA Month Apart, Part 1â
A/N: Hi everyone, thank you for your patience as I whipped out this chapter. I had the initial outline on how this chapter will go but more frequent than none, it changes a lot in the middle while I'm in the writing process. :) I love this story and I hope it just gives you the good feels while reading this. We're two years into this pandemic and the world is still crazy. I hope you're keeping safe and being kind to yourself. :) As always, your comments and suggestions are very much welcome.
A modern day meet cute instance between Jamie and Claire.
AO3  / C1: A Day In June : C2: Definitely, Maybe : C3: So We Meet Again : C4: Friday Lunch : C5: Finding Solid Ground : C6: Situations : C7: Interruptions
XXXXX
After their first date, their schedule for the following two weeks weâre packed - with Jamie settling back in the firm after his 2-week trip from London and Claireâs schedule at the hospital and preparing for her trip to Seattle.
Being a lawyer and a doctor werenât the most flexible jobs - with patients and clients to attend to, surgeries and hearings to prepare for, plus, with both of them in administrative positions, it is additional work on top of their normal duties. But Claire and Jamie were determined to make it work, so they decided to communicate better, be extra patient and understanding, and really commit whatever available time they had.
The first week, Jamie couldnât make lunch as he had a court hearing to prepare for and Claire couldnât make dinner as she was on the night shift. So Jamie, one day, surprised Claire outside the hospital by picking her up, invited her to quick breakfast dates instead, and dropping her off at her house to make sure she got home safe.
The second week was a bit lighter but with Claire going to Seattle on Saturday, she had to do extra administrative work to make sure everything was set for her leave. She offered to have dinner takeaways at her office in the evenings which he happily accepted.
The night before her flight, Claire and Jamie were hanging out in her office, sitting at the sofa, admiring the Edinburgh skyline with a little wine and cheese tray.
âIâm sorry we couldnât go outâ Claire apologized.
âDonât worry about it, Sassenach.â Jamie turned to Claire and patted her hand. âI honestly would prefer to do anything if it means I get to spend time with you - whether sitting here in your office on a Friday night or sitting in the gallery watching your surgery.â
âYouâre too good to me, Jamesâ Claire quipped in a feigned dramatic voice.
âAh, you give me too much credit, Claire. I hope you know that you make an effort too, especially these past two weeksâ
âMe? It feels like youâre fitting more to my schedule than I am yours!â
âBut you met me during breakfast even though you looked too knackered from yer shift.â
Claire couldnât deny that and she could just smile with Jamieâs understanding.
âAre you all packed up for tomorrow?â Jamie asked, changing the subject.
âYes. The weatherâs mostly rainy in Seattle so I brought extra items for the wet and cold.â
âAnd whatâs your schedule for the month?â
âHave I not sent you my itinerary? Hold up -â Claire took out her phone and quickly sent an email to Jamie. âThere, I sent you my schedule but between teaching and surgery, my timeâs the same as here just minus the administrative work, which I tell you not, Iâm pretty excited to be free of it for the next monthâ
Jamie just nodded. The next month.
Itâs all rather bad timing if you look at it. The first month, theyâve been rather inseparable with going to lunches almost everyday and weekends at the center. The following month, quick dates and meetings as Jamie was away at London and their crazy schedule at the hospital and the firm. And now, going into the third month since meeting, theyâd be completely separated by roughly 4,485 miles.
âDid you hear what I said, Jamie?â Claire asked while waving a hand in front of Jamieâs face.
âIâm sorry, what?â Returning to the present, unaware that his mind has gone away a bit.
Claire gave him a softened look and sat closer to him. âWhat were you thinking?â
Jamie stayed silent but Claireâs look urged him on.
âNah, yeâll think me daftâ Jamie said but Claire shook her head.
âFineâ Jamie stretched his arm to pull her closer and she gladly leaned on his shoulder. âI was just thinking about how Iâll not be able to see ye for a month, how much Iâll be missing ye, and how excited I am once ye return here.â
âOh,â Claire knew the feelings were simple but itâs his words and the way he said it that touched her most.
âI told ye itâs daft.â
âItâs not daft.â Claire tried to mimic Jamieâs accent but they both just have to laugh at her attempt. Turning serious quickly, she took Jamieâs face by the hand and looked deeply into his eyes. âYou know that I am going to miss you too.â
Jamie just nodded in agreement, looking at Claire so sweetly and lovingly that she couldnât help but lean in for a kiss.
Since their first kiss after their date, they hadnât been shy in showing affection to each other. Nonetheless, itâs all been very respectful to the boundaries to whatever stage they are in their relationship. Hand touches, hugs, pecks and kisses here and there but never really beyond that.
But with her impending departure, Claire seemed to be eager for more. Instead of completely pulling away, she kissed him again some more.
Jamie quickly picked up the signal and allowed himself to pull Claire closer and to his lap. A few minutes later, Claire felt Jamieâs tongue on her lips asking for entrance which she happily obliged. The air around them was electric.
Jamie was first to pull away before the moment got away from them. Claire sighed - not from disappointment, but by the fact of how chivalrous Jamie really is. And she doesnât really mind it one bit. âIâll be back before you know it.â
The following day, Jamie picked up Claire to drop her off at the airport. They thought they had time for a quick bite but traffic was so horrendous that they got to the gate just in time before boarding began.
With barely any time left, Jamie pulled Claire to a tight hug as the PA system called her flight. âGo, youâll miss your planeâ
Claire reluctantly released Jamie with a grunt. âLetâs go somewhere when I returnâ
âSounds like a planâ Jamie tried to hide the longing in his voice but it was too late.
âThe month will be over before you know it, okay? Message me everyday, call me every afternoon when you canâ Claire encouraged him. With one last kiss, they bade each other goodbye as she started walking to her gate and Jamie was no longer in sight. Â
As Claire waited for take off, the silence of a constant message ping on her phone slightly unsettled her. It was then she realized the vast distance between Seattle and Edinburgh. A single tear escaped but she quickly pulled it together. Sheâs not even gone yet but homesickness hit her right away.
-
So the four-week long distance trial began.
The 8-hour time difference is not too crazy between Seattle and Edinburgh with their available times falling at the start and end of the day. Theyâve been coping well with their synced calendars and communication options.
Jamie sends flowers and snacks to Seattle Grace, earning Claire points from the staff for all the treats sheâs been giving away.
Claire, on her end, sends late messages to Jamie to wake up to in the morning and asks Mrs. Kimâs Korean Street Food Hub to delivery chicken wings to Jamie every so often.
Theyâve also reserved some time on the weekend for extended calls with conversations falling from happenings to their week to what hairstyles and colors theyâve done in the past.
It wasnât till late in the 3rd week that things started to shake up.
It was a random Thursday evening in rainy Seattle. Between two surgeries and one class, Claire was ready to call it a day. She was settling on her sofa, drinking her tea for a little night cap when her phone pinged. It was 9:30PM Seattle meaning it was 5:30AM Edinburgh, too early for anybody to contact her over there unless it was important.
Grabbing her phone, her notifications show it was from Geillis. It was a link to a tabloid along with a message âHAVE YOU SEEN THIS?â
With the link, she can see the preview of the title âJamie Fraser is off the market!â Curiosity prevailed Claire and she clicked the article
-
On the other side of the world, Jamie, as always, promptly arrived at the firm. Just as he was to pass Mrs. Fitz, she called him out.
âAh, ladâ
âYes, Mrs. Fitz?â
âI dinna ken yet what ye or Claire are yet but have ye spoken to her today?â
âToday? Not yet. Why?â
She motioned for him to come round the reception and take a peek at her monitor.
She showed him the same article Geillis sent Claire and as soon Jamie saw the accompanying photo, he fished out his phone and immediately contacted Claire. It was midnight in Seattle but Jamie didnât care - he wanted to clear things before things got misinterpreted.
âErm, hello?â a groggy Claire answered the phone on the other side of the line.
âHi, were ye asleep?â Jamie asked as he walked the hallway to his office.
âI was but I answered already, whatâs up?â she replied, her voice still muffled by sleep. She knew why he was calling though but wanted to hear it from him. âDid you just arrive at the firm?â
âYes,â he replied, closing the door to his office for privacy. âWell, I donât want to keep you long but an article came last night about me and well, in case yeâll see it, it is not true.â
Jamie heard Claire sigh on the other end, âIâve seen itâ she confirmed.
âYeâve already seen it?â he repeated in disbelief, looking at his watch, itâs only been posted a few hours ago.
âGeillis sent it to me earlier, I think it just came out then. Sheâs a bit of a morning person soâŚâ
âClaire, it isnât true. It was all in a bad angle. The Dunsanyâs have been a long-time client of ours and we had an unexpected dinner meeting yesterday. I was just escorting their daughter to her car when the paparazzi got wind of us and ran with whatever story they could think of.â Jamie quickly explained in summary.
âOkay.â
âOkay?â
âYeah. I mean you say itâs not true and I believe you.â
âYou donât have any questions?â he asked, a little baffled.
âNot really. I mean was there more to it?â
âA bit but something we can talk about later.â
âOkayâ
It was both refreshing and confusing as to why Claire seemed nonchalant about all this. On one end, she might be really understanding. On the other end, she might be harboring ill-feelings she didnât want to discuss.
It was Jamieâs line that turned silent. Claire, guessing he might need more despite her sleepy state, obliged him. âJamie, I wonât lie. I was surprised at first because of the photo and how the article was written with your family histories. Add to that, that I didnât see it in the calendar and you didnât text me about it.â
âWhy didnât you call -?â
âButâ she interrupted him, âI also know you, Jamie, and I know about us. If I was really concerned, Iâll call you right away. But Iâm not and weâll be meeting later anyway, so I know weâll talk about it eventually.â she paused to catch a breath. âBesides, you already explained it, I donât need to know any more because I trust you, Jamie.â Â
âOkayâ it was Jamieâs turn to give the one-word reply.
âAre we okay now?â she asked.
âYes, as long as ye are too.â Jamie replied to which Claire mummed in agreement. âThank ye, Claire.â
âYouâre welcome. Now, Iâll go back to sleep and see you later.â With that, Claire ended the call, a small smile crept on her face knowing the relief and joy Jamie probably feels right now.

Part 2
Walter pushed the bike through the door to his apartment, resting it against the back of the couch before looking up and realising you werenât sat on the couch where heâd left you just a couple of minutes ago.
âThe snow is really beautifulâ
Turning to the sound of your voice he grinned as he pushed the door shut. Youâd pulled the net curtain up and was kneeling on the other couch that sat in front of the window, your head tucked under the curtain to watch as the feathery flakes of snow fell on the outside world.
Walterâs attention however was trained on the way your ass was perfectly framed by his t-shirt where it has ridden up as youâd bent over. With your long woolen socks pulled up to your thighs heâd started to grow hard again in his soft sweats, and as if on a SWAT raid he quietly snuck across the room and got to his knees behind you.Â
The first touch of his lips against your pussy were a shock, but as his large hands gripped your hips you relaxed and arched your back, widening your stance as you knelt on the chair and presented yourself to him like a bitch in heat;
âW-Walter!â
âHmmmnâ
âSomeone will see!â
He pulled away for a moment, rising to his feet before kneeling on the chair behind you;
âIts the middle of a blizzard. If anyone is even outside, they arenât going to be looking up to the fourth floorâ
With his body pressed to yours he rutted into you from behind, the obscene bulge in his sweats fitting perfectly in the crease of your ass. Pulling the curtain out of the way you let it drop down to the floor before turning your head, Walter catching your lips with his own for a fierce kiss, before he moved his attention to your neck to suck at the soft skin where it met your collarbone;
âCome to bed, let me keep you warmâ
Clumsily getting to your feet, there were kisses and caresses as the pair of you bumped into furniture, neither leading but both eager to get to the soft confines of his massive bed. When you finally reached your destination Walter tumbled first, falling back onto the bed;
âCâmere and sit on my faceâ he quietly ordered, but you just grinned and slid to your knees, your fingers curling around the waistband of his sweats and tugging them down.
âNo, its my turn, Detectiveâ
At the use of his title his dick twitched and grew harder, and as you wrapped your nimble fingers around his hardness he let out a shaky breath of anticipation. Pushing himself up so he could watch, he damn near blew his load the second your warm mouth engulfed him, your tongue working on the thick vein that ran the length of the underside, your hands keeping busy by grasping his shaft and cupping his balls.Â
You didnât hold back, hell with a dick this good it would be a crime not to. Once Walter realised you were really going for it he pulled some pillows behind his head so he could lay back and the show, a smile on his lips as he watched you force more of his length into your throat, and he couldnât help but to lay a hand on the back of your head as he rained down praises;
âHoly fuck your mouth is fucking amazing⌠Yes, do that thing with your tongue again, oh OH Fuck yes, that⌠so fucking good⌠knew youâd been good that this when i watched you inhale that marshmallow cake pop you guys were doing for HalloweenâŚâ
At his last comment you had just pushed down as far as you could go when your immediate response was to laugh, as you remembered him walking in just as you were attempting to win a bet with your colleague that you could fit the whole thing of four large marshmallows decorated as pumpkins into your mouth at once, and had managed it just as Walter had walked into the coffee shop.
Pulling off of him you coughed and spluttered, a large hand coming down on your back to pat it before you were pulled up onto the bed and onto his chest;
âYouâre fucking adorable, you know that?â
âYouâre only saying that âcos i can deep throat youâ
âTrue, but you do it adorably. Now come and sit on my face so i can hear some adorable squealsâŚâ
He pulled the pillows away and you straddled his head, his massive hands immediately pressing to your ass and pulling you down onto his waiting mouth, his tongue eager to burrow between your lips. Leaning forwards you wrapped your hand around his dick and took him back into your mouth, the grunts from between your thighs telling you he hadnât been expecting it but it wasnât an unwelcome development.Â
It was now a race, who could get the other to cum first, and as good as Walter was at eating pussy, you were determined to get him to cum before you did. Taking him as deep as you could you swallowed around him, internally smiling to yourself as you heard whimpers from between your thighs as your throat constricted around him. As your hands worked on the rest of his shaft you were a woman on a mission, and when you finally felt that tell-tale tremble you pulled back just a little so he could release into your mouth without suffocating you. His shaft swelled and his hot salty seed flooded your mouth, swallowing around him as he filled it again before finally with a shudder finishing. Lifting your mouth and ass at the same time, you smiled at the string of quiet expletives coming from his lips, moving until you were laying beside him, your head on his chest and his arm naturally around your shoulders;
âYou are a devilâ
âYes Detectiveâ you grinned, your smile widening as he rolled you onto your back and kissed you, his hand pushing between your legs and he slid two thick fingers into your soaked hole.
âI just wanted to eat that pussy, and there you go distracting me with your amazing mouthâ
You wanted to reply, but his thumb had found your clit and a third finger had slid in alongside the first two, Walter playing your body like a musician played well tuned instrument. His mouth found your breasts and he took one peaked nipple into his mouth, his beard brushing against the soft skin as his tongue worked over the hardened bud. He curled his fingers within you and found that delicious spongy spot, rubbing against it with the pad of his finger, his lips curled into a smile when he felt you getting closer and closer to your orgasm. Pressing kisses to your chest he worked up to your neck, his lips brushing against your ear;
âYou gonna cum for me? Can feel you squeezing my fingers, feel so fucking good, gonna soak my hand? Such a pretty little pussy, taking three fingers so wellâŚâ
With a scream you came, your body shaking and he immediately kissed you to swallow your cries of pleasure, his hand stilling between your legs before he carefully and gently pulled his fingers out. Tracing a pattern up your stomach with your juices he finally brought them to his mouth and you watched as he licked each one clean as if it was frosting on a cupcake, before leaning forwards and kissing you again.Â
It was late and in the glow after your orgasm you could feel your eyelids dropping, and with a strong arm draped over your waist Walter pulled your back flush with his chest as the both of you soon fell asleep, the world outside being blanketed in a soft quilt of snow.
-
Walter lay in bed, one handedly scrolling through his phone, the other hand wrapped around your shoulders where you slept soundly curled up to his side. Apart from a trip to the bathroom around 6am, it was the longest heâd spent in bed for months, even years, and he wasnât minding it one single bit.
At some point in the night youâd stripped yourself of his loaned t-shirt and your long socks, and when heâd returned from the bathroom heâd seen your ass peeking out from the duvet, and as much as heâd have loved to give it a squeeze, he settled for a few seconds of gratuitous staring before he climbed back into bed beside you sporting a semi.
You stirred beside him, a smile forming on your lips as he watched you stretch and feel your muscles protest after the nights activities. Setting his phone down on the nightstand he ran a fingertip down your cheek, before pressing a kiss to your lips as you woke;
âMmmm good Morning Detectiveâ
âHow is my little muffin this morning?â
Stretching again you winced;
âSore⌠but a good soreâŚâ you finally opened your eyes and smiled at him, before your gaze went wide when you saw how light it was, sitting bolt upright in bed; âWhat time is it?â
Walter glanced at the clock on his phone;
âAlmost Nineâ
You lept out of bed;
âFUCK⌠iâm lateâŚâ
In a panic you ran around the room trying to find your clothing, pulling your skirt and socks on, before finding your bra hanging from a set of drawers. Pulling at the duvet you scanned the floor;
âWalter, where are my panties?â
âMuffinâŚ. StopâŚâ
âWALTER, iâm going to be LATE!â
âSweetieâŚâ
âARUGH! I cannot go commando all day in a skirt!â
âOh i donât know, i like the sound of thatâŚâ
You turned and glared at him, but before you could say anything he was out of bed and standing in front of you, his hands resting on your arms;
âCheck your phone⌠the blizzard has shut down half of downtown, the coffee shopâs facebook page said they were closed today around 7am this morningâ
You visibly relaxed in his arms, nodding before you quickly ran to the other room and pulled your phone from your coat pocket, smiling when you saw a message from your boss that the shop would be closed due to the snow.
A large pair of arms wrapped around your waist, and you leaned back into Walters embrace;
âYou have any idea how horny it makes me knowing you arenât wearing panties under that skirt?â
Pushing your ass back against him you could feel heâd put sweatpants on, but his meaty dick was growing impressively hard against you;
âI think i can feel how horny you areâ
He spun you and lifted you into his arms, walking you back until he could rest your ass on the counter. His lips were on yours as he one handedly pulled his sweats down and you felt the meaty slap of his erection against your inner thigh. Widening your stance you wrapped your hand around him as you pulled him to your core, gasping as his hot flesh speared you. You gasped into his mouth, sharing breaths as he filled you, his forehead pressed to yours. With the tiniest thrusts of his hips he skillfully brought you to orgasm, fucking you straight through it as he angled his hips to drive you crazy again.
Your gaze fell to his naked chest and stomach, watching as his muscles moved as if they were fluid, waves of power rolling as he used the power stored in them to push deep inside you. Snaking a hand between your bodies he rubbed quickly at your clit, his breaths growing short as his thrusts became erratic, pushing you to meet your peaks together so he could relish the feel of your walls gripping him so tight as they milked him of his seed.
With one final thrust you were cuming hard, Walter throwing his head back as he came inside you as you felt him swell and release another load in your waiting womb.
-
Youâd showered alongside Walter after your kitchen escapades, hand and lips exploring each others bodies, but it didnât go any further than fondling, both of your bodies and minds an equal mix of sore and sated.Â
Eventually youâd managed to find all your clothing with the exception of your panties, but you had eventually given up on that idea and just accepted youâd have to head home commando much to Walterâs amusement;
âNot to worry, the seats in my truck are heatedâ he said with a grin as he poured you a cup of coffee and set it onto the counter; âI have to go check on my Daughter later, but can drop you off on the way if you like?â
âThanksâ you smiled before pausing; âYou have a daughter?â
Walter let out a quiet laugh;
âYeah; Faye... sixteen years old and full of attitude. Sheâs amazing. Lives with her Mother - my ex and the new husbandâ
âNice⌠its nice youâre still on good termsâ
âYeah. So what about you?â
âMe? Oh, no kids. Not really any exâs to talk of⌠there hasnât been anyone important since i moved here eighteen months agoâ
âImportant⌠so how would one become important?â he smiled and inched closer to you
âDinner would always be a start.... And something that isnât delivered by me is even betterâŚâ
âOut or homecooked?â
âYou cook?â you laughed as he feighed shock
âYes, i just donât always have time to go shopping for groceriesâŚâ he wrapped his arms around your waist; âSo can i get your number so we can arrange dinner?â
âYou sure canâ
-
Two Weeks Later
Cleaning the milk steamer you glared at it as it hissed out hot water, not helping your mood. In fact the mood had been steadily growing over the last ten days.
Walter had shovelled the snow from around his truck and loaded your bike into the back, before carefully driving you home after your night at his place. A heated kiss on your doorstep had only ended when your roommate had opened the door to take the trash out and had interrupted the two of you. Youâd swapped numbers and heâd said goodbye, and that afternoon youâd gotten a facebook friend request from him. Three days and nights of messages and chatting had ended with a short ânew case, speak soon xâ from Walter.
And then nothing. Youâd tried not to be offended, youâd spent more hours than youâd like to admit trawling through his sparse facebook profile, seeing that all 26 of his friends were either colleagues or family; and youâd seen his daughter Fayeâs picture too. She had his dark curly hair and bright eyes.
Trying not to read too much into it, he was a Detective after all and it could be all manner of things, but what if he was hurt? Or worse? Or⌠he was just ignoring you? But why would he have added you on social media? Youâd spent far too many hours overthinking the whole thing, far too many nights losing sleep.
The sight of a customer standing at the counter drew your attention away from the milk steamer, instead wiping your hands on the cloth that hung from your apron before greeting them with a smile;
âHey, what can i get for you today?â
âCould i get a non-fat soy latte, with two pumps of hazelnut sugar free syrup?â
âSure thing, anything else?â you asked as you scribbled her order on the side of the paper cup
âThatâs it, thanksâ
The young girl went back to looking at her phone as you rang up her order, swiping it over the Apple Pay reader before walking to the end of the counter to the pick up station, still absorbed in her phone.
You were on auto pilot, working through the drink before setting it on the counter;
âOrder for Fayeâ
She looked at you, a grin tugging at the corner of her mouth and you realised what youâd said;
âShitâ
âYeah⌠i never gave you my nameâ
âFuckâ
âDad says that⌠a lotâ
You were thankful the coffee shop wasnât busy and there were no other customers waiting to be served as you stumbled on your words;
âIâm so sorry⌠iâm⌠friends, with your Dadâ
âYeah i knowâ
âWe⌠kinda went on a dateâŚâ
âYeah⌠I knowâ
âAnd he added me on facebook⌠and then hasnât called. Iâm sorry, i just recognised you from your photos of the two of you he hasâŚâ
âI. Know.â she said with a grin; âFirstly, you liked one of the photos i was tagged in, so i got the notification. Secondly, i follow you on instagramâ
âYou do?â you said, shocked.
âYeah. This shop is on my way to school, i saw the chalk art you did on the windows a few months back and followed you ever sinceâ
âOhâ
âAnd Dad kept talking about this one coffee shop girl that he liked, and iâm glad he finally asked you outâ
Your mood suddenly deflated;
âYeah, well we had⌠coffee⌠and then urh⌠well he ghosted meâ
âNo, heâs on a case⌠heâs undercoverâ
âOh!â
Faye leaned forwards on the counter;
âHe really likes you. He told me. And the case, whatever that is, i only know because he was meant to be taking me to visit a college last weekend and he had one of his work colleagues get a message to my Mom⌠he isnât ghosting youâ
You let out a deep breath, the tension slipping away from your body and mind;
âThanks Fayeâ
She took her drink a smiled, pushing her ear-bud back in as she started towards the door before calling your name;
âIt was good to finally meet youâ
Nodding you smiled; âYou too Faye⌠take careâ
-
That night you were settled into your comfiest pyjamas, enjoying the fact you had the apartment couch and TV all to yourself, your roommates catching up on work in their rooms or simply sleeping, so you were surprised when there was a knock at the door. Setting the bowl of popcorn down you called out to ask if anyone had ordered takeout, but with negative answers you frowned before checking the peephole⌠and letting out a gasp before flinging the door open;
âWalter!â
Standing in the hallway was your favourite detective; SWAT vest still on, the metallic tang of gunshot residue hanging in the air from his sweater and hair. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously;
âHey MuffinâŚâ
You wrapped your arms around his shoulders and pressed your lips to his, the kiss deepening before he finally pulled back just enough to speak;
âWow⌠now thatâs a warm welcomeâŚâ the smile on his face growing; âSeeing as i kinda left you on read without any explanationâŚâ
âYeah, well Faye came by the coffee shop today and explainedâŚâ
âHow do you knowâŚ?â
âI recognised her from your photos on facebook, and she follows me on instagram, andâŚâ you walked fingers up his chest; âAnd she told me she had encouraged you to ask me outâ
He threw his head back and laughed;
âKids, they arenât great at keeping secretsâ
Before you could say anything else, one of your roommates called out;
âHey either take the delivery or refuse it, youâre letting all the heat out of the apartment!â followed by the slam of their bedroom door. Walter turned his attention back to you;
âWell, are you going to accept the delivery or refuse it?â
Taking his hand you pulled him into the apartment;
âIâll accept it⌠but donât expect a tip, the order updates were awfulâ
âOh donât you worry about a tip, iâll make sure you leave a five star review after what i deliver tonightâ
With a slam of the door it was the start of a very sleepless night⌠for you AND your roommates, but for wildly different reasons.

masterlist // part 2 // part 3
It was 8:00 in the morning. Spencer walked in the doors of the bullpen to the bau. He sat his satchel down and began to settle in for a long day of work. It was pretty early so the team wasnât in yet. Except for Aaron Hotchner who had gotten in an hour prior to Spencer and been in his office ever since. Apparently others had the same âget to work earlyâ mindset as Spencer. Spencer opened a case file but his attention was quickly whipped away due to the sound of the door opening. He sees Penelope Garcia with all her attention focused on her phone. Spencer quirked his eyebrows when she bumped into a fellow coworker and her attention remained on her phone while quickly mumbling a quick âsorryâ. As she passed his desk, Spencer decided it would be the great time to speak.Â
âHey, Garcia.â Her feet came to a stop and her head snapped up at him.Â
âBoy wonder! Iâm so glad youâre here. I really need someone to talk to because if I donât Iâm going to explode!â She sits in the chair across from his desk.Â
âIs everything alright?â He leaned back in his chair.Â
âNo⌠no everything is not alright. If anything.. everything is all wrong. Very very wrong. I-â she takes in a deep breath âI was stalking Kevinâs page because the other day I seen him at the mall with another girl. And while I was 56 weeks down in his page, I accidentally liked a picture.â She explained, in a huff.Â
âIâm afraid I donât follow.â Spencer was even more confused now than before she started.Â
âI liked a picture that he posted 56 weeks ago!â Her eyes were wide.
âHow is that a bad thing?â His lips pouted as heâd never understand social media.Â
âUgh! Reid, you really need to get with the program and get you an Instagram. That means his picture was old and now he knows that I was looking at his page. You understand now?â She asked.Â
âOh. Yeah I understand. Itâs bad that he knows you were looking at his page.â He asked as Prentiss, JJ, and Morgan had walked in.Â
âYes. And now I must go into the bat cave and wait for him to call or text me and ask what me lurking on his page was about.â She whined as she stomped her way to her office.Â
âWhat was that about?â Prentiss asked, setting her bags down on her desk.Â
âUhh- rough morningâ Spencer shrugged, still not really understanding the whole social media thing.Â
âHey do you guys have an Instagram?â He asked the three.Â
âYeah but Iâm barely on it.â Prentiss answered.
âSame hereâ says Morgan as he takes a seat at his desk.Â
âYeah but I only get on to post the boys and myself sometimesâ answers JJ.Â
âWhat about Hotch and Rossi?â He asked.
âYup! Rossi likes to post about his expensive wine and cigars. Hotch posts Jack every once in a while and a throwback Thursday.â JJ says.Â
Spencerâs eyebrows furrowed for what seems to be the 100th time that day.Â
âHe doesnât know what that isâ Prentiss looks over to JJ.
âItâs something you post like an old picture of yourself every Thursday.â Morgan explains.
âDo you guys do that?â Spencer asked.
âI did last Thursday.â JJ pulls out her phone and opened the app. âThis was right after Emily, Penelope, and I caught a guy who was trying to pick up Prentiss by pretending to be an FBI agent a few years ago.â She chuckled showing him a picture.Â
Spencer takes her phone in his hand and examines the post. 142 likes. 57 comments. He clicks on her name which takes it to her page. 302 followers. As he scrolls, he sees a picture the team took a while ago and sees a little person profile thing the corner and clicks on it causing other names tagged to each individual team member. Except him. After he examined all of their profiles, he gives JJ back her phone and gets to work like the rest of them. He felt a little left out but he knew it was because of his own decisions and not his team. He liked that they didnât press him about having a social media because they new he was more old school than anything. And it was ironic because he wastage youngest member of the team with the more old school habits.Â
When Spencer got home he decided he wanted the social media app. The idea of being able to share with his friends and only his friends excited him. Being able to post about his favorite things for his friends to see without talking their ears off.
He opened his phone and went to the app store, typing âinstagramâ into the search bar. He followed the sites instructions as he made his account. Using a snapshot he took of his bookshelf as his profile picture. He sees the option to add the people in his contact list which was only his team, mom, and his motherâs caretaker. But everyoneâs profile popped up and he quickly followed each and every one of them. Except for his mom and her caretaker of course.Â
Soon enough, he got a follow back from Garcia, Hotch, Rossi, and JJ in that order. Morgan and Prentiss werenât lying when they said they werenât on often.
After two weeks, Spencer hasnât posted anything yet, not knowing what should go on his profile. Morgan and Prentiss ended up following him back and the app ended up adjusting to his interests. Nothing but accounts about interesting facts, books, and doctor who.Â
It was Friday night and the team had just got back from a case in Chicago. Spencer opened the door to his apartment and set his satchel down on the couch, exhausted. His mind wonders to get something to eat being that he wonders to get something to eat being that he hasnât ate since before they caught the unsub. Which was about 5 hours and 7 minutes ago but he still needed to get something into his system. Spencer opened his fridge and sees 3 day old Chinese takeout. He shrugs and pops it into the microwave while looking for a book of his to reread while he eats. After he finishes dinner, he gets on his phone and subconsciously pulls up the app. He clicks onto his explore page to discover something else he likes. While scrolling, he sees a picture of someone reading and clicks on it.

Spencer smiles and clicks the heart button and bookmarks it to look at later. He liked the picture. Both the picture and caption reminded him a lot of his own love for books and the color green (hence his apartment).Â
Once he got out of the shower, he brushed his teeth. He found himself subconsciously scrolling through his instagram bookmarks to find her post. He doesnât know what it was but something about the picture brought comfort to him. As he brushed his teeth, he clicked on the post once again. This time, he actually clicked on your account. It was a private account with 186 followers. The bio read:
Y/N... bookworm.
Her profile picture consisted of a black cat surrounded by either a bunch of well taken care of plants or artificial ones. His finger hovered over the blue âfollowâ button. As he bent down to spit his toothpaste out, his thumb accidentally clicked the follow button. But he didn't realize so until he looked down again to see the âfollowâ button replaced with ârequestedâ. His heart basically drops out of his ass. He quickly clicks the button again, taking back his follow.Â
It was now one in the morning, Spencer laid in bed awake staring at his ceiling. Once again, he clicks onto the app. He scrolled down his timeline and saw a picture Penelope posted of one of her new desk animals with the caption âGot her at a thrift shop! Isnât she cute??â. He saw that Hotch and JJ liked 45 other people. JJ also commented with two red hearts. Spencer likes the post and keeps scrolling. His thoughts wander to the post about the girl again. Heâs never thought about a social media post this much since heâs created an account. He wonders what sparked his interest so much about this one. As he makes his way to the post, clicking on her account. Debating if he should follow her. Sheâs a total stranger. Do the others follow strangers? Thereâs no way JJ knows 302 people in real life. He mentally shrugs and presses the follow button. Requested. Again.
He swipes out of her account back onto the post now seeing that she commented on it.
yourinstagram thank you, bubs! ily to the moon n back <3333
It was commented thirty six seconds ago. Meaning sheâs currently active. Again, Spencerâs heart sinks and he immediately regrets his decision. Going back and unfollowing her. He doesnât know what to do with himself. Heâs a mess. Over a stranger. But he feels like an idiot. Reacting the way that he did just because he saw that she was online. So he goes and follows her.... again.
After clearing out all of his apps, he turns off his phone and lays down trying to get some sleep before work in a few hours. His thoughts wander to her. What she was like. if she was nice or mean. If she was socially awkward or very outgoing. Before his thoughts could get too far into what she was like, he receives a notification from instagram. He opens his phone and clicks on the notification. His heart began to pound when he saw it.

Chapter 15: Shadows Fall
You numbly sat down on your bed. The room was dark. Your Phoenix brand, silent, a dull sepia stain on your inner wrist.
It hurts a lot.
âHeâs no different to the power hungry elders of this corrupt society after all huh.â You were disappointed. It was dumb of you to give your heart away to him. Especially to a man who was already planning on taking in concubines, this early into your ârelationshipâ.
You checked your phone to see the notifications. Mai and Miwa were looking for you, saying that you have dinner out with them in a few minutes.
'Ah, that was supposed to be for tonight' you thought.
"Sorry can't go, feeling unwell. You guys go ahead." You texted back to them as you slumped on your bed.
After a few minutes your door slammed open. "Where have you been?!" Mai asked, but stopped talking upon seeing your red rimmed eyes. Miwa peeked out behind her. "Are you okay y/n?" She asked.
That question absolutely crushed you. You started sobbing again, not being able to hide your shaking shoulders. The two girls filed in and closed your door.
"We are ordering take out. Miwa go ahead and cancel that reservation. We will stay in tonight." Mai said. "Right!" Miwa worriedly replied as she pulled out her phone and made the call.
"I'm not here to baby you. You will tell me what happened, okay?" Mai demanded.
"I need a few minutes" everything looked so blurry through your tears, Mai and Miwa only looked like unfocused blobs of dark green and bright blue. Literally, the only way you could distinguish the two girls at this point was by their hair color.
They couldn't get much out of you other than you talking about how Kamo-san never liked you in the first place and how you pushed yourself onto him.
The girls held you as you cried. They couldn't believe what they were hearing. "But both of you looked great. I'm sure Kamo senpai really liked you though?" Miwa questioned out loud.
Mai just nodded her head. "I said it before already. Both of you act like you're so oblivious to each other's affections. But I do agree that you put more effort into the relationship. He always turns down your request for dates off campus. Even an outsider could see that."
"No, no itâs not that. You guys know how the big 3 clans operate. He just felt that I was a suitable wife to bear his heirs. They're jumping at the chance to use me to get a blood-manipulator jujutsu shi who may also possibly inherit my psychokinesis technique. I don't want to stay in a relationship without any love in it." You whispered.
Your voice was all gone after you sobbed for hours. The fight and energy just drained out of your body.
They couldn't say anything to that as it was your relationship with Kamo and not theirs. That night, they slept over in your room, the three of you squishing into your queen sized bed and plushies.
âââ
On the other hand, Noritoshi had woken up from his nap, bedhead and red rimmed eyes and all. Clearly remembering all your painful words. He looked over to the side, staring at the Jade dragon pendant atop his bedside table. A small pink letter resting beside it, one that you had given him days prior.
âDearest Toshi,
You must be exhausted from all of your extra tasks given to you by your clan as of the late. I hope that it gets better soon, Iâm here if ever you want to talk about it or if you need any help with that. My family and I are open to supporting you in your endeavors, though you haven't met them yet. Hiroki nii is especially excited to meet you, I can already see the both of you getting along quite well. Whenever youâre ready <3
Have a good evening.
Love, Y/N.â
He felt tears burn behind his eyelids.
âIt was too sudden, I couldnât even understand half the things she said to me earlier,â he murmured to himself. He racked his brain, trying to recall the things you said. It was mostly a blur to him.
Something about what he and his father talked about yesterday. That wasnât an issue, it was mostly clan duties as per usual.
Also, how he never liked you. Well, he hasnât confessed yet, but he couldnât see why youâd bring that up out of nowhere when everything was still fine 2 days ago.
Concubines. The talk on concubines. Why did you- Oh. â... from yesterdayâ Noritoshiâs head was getting clearer and clearer. You must have misunderstood the conversation he had with his father, and left before it finished. It didnât sound pretty now that he thought of it.
He had that single-minded goal of pleasing his father and the elders, but somehow you got tangled in the mess.
He sighed frustratedly. It always seemed to be the case with you jumping conclusions about him, didnât it? Now he has to clear it up with you before it gets too bad.
âââ
You woke up the next morning feeling and looking like utter shit. Mai and Miwa had to dress you up and drag you out of bed.
âThereâs only one thing you can do now Y/N.â Mai said as she straightened out your collar. âGet over him.â
Huh. Easier said than done.
âââ
There was a drastic change in your behaviour towards Noritoshi. The name "Noritoshi-senpai", that you had always cheerily called out, was replaced by a short and curt "Kamo-san" whenever conversation was necessary. Also, you donât look into his eyes anymore.
You avoided him as much as you can, thanking yourself for knowing his schedule so well. Not hesitating to turn and go around in another direction if you ever saw him approaching from a distance. Because of this he rarely sees you on campus.
It hurt Noritoshi badly to see you act this way. He never realized just how warm you were with him until now that it was all gone. He tried to catch you during your breaks, calling out your name with the same tenderness he always had. But it was in vain as you ran away from him.
Todo and Momo wisely chose not to make any snide comments, upon seeing how downhearted Noritoshi was in the following days.
Everybody avoided eye contact with both of you if and when you had to interact. It couldn't be helped. The tension was like a fine piece of glass waiting to shatter.
The pain in your heart didn't subside at all. You've taken to staring at the mark on your wrist.
'Did I successfully reject our bond?' You wondered hollowly.
Sometimes you half expect your mark to start flashing wildly, like whenever you and Noritoshi have off days with each other. But this is the first time you've seen it so⌠silent.
You wrapped it up with more darker velvet strips and ignored it.
It was the opposite on Noritoshiâs end. He would lie in bed and stare at the mark that is dangerously bright red and hot. It almost felt painful, like someone was searing a brand onto his skin.
He wrapped it up in gauze bandages and put salves to soothe the mark. But it was never enough. He needed you back.
âââ
During one afternoon, you just finished an English lesson with one of the windows who teaches at Jujutsu High. You stood up from your desk and turned to see the man outside of your classroom.
"Y/n, are you free for lunch?" Noritoshi had obviously sprinted as soon as his lessons had ended. âWe need to talk.â All 4 of you looked up to see him outside the classroom, as composed as ever. But he looked terrible.
There were shadows under his eyes, and he seemed to have gotten thinner. The shitty side of you was cruelly happy. Good that heâs like this, because he lost his toy. Good on him. But your heart was sad, yelling at you to go back and take care of him already.
"Ah I'm sorry, but I've got lunch with the rest of the 1st year's here." You politely declined. Trying to school your face into a neutral expression.
"I insist." He firmly stated. He looked over to the other students. "You don't mind if I borrow her do you?"
You inwardly scoffed at his poor choice of words. The stupid arse still thinks I'm his belonging apparently. Something to be borrowed and used.
But Mai stepped up. "If she doesn't want to hang out with you then she doesn't." Miwa was fidgeting worriedly. "Now now." She started.
"I really wanted to have lunch with my fellow 1st years, if you could please excuse us Kamo San." You hastily uttered, pulling Mai's arms towards you while turning away. The other first years followed your lead.
But Noritoshi was determined. He quickly put his hand on your shoulder, only for you to slap it away and flinch from him. Everybody froze.
You were clearly trembling, which made Noritoshi lower his hand and step back. "I'm sorry y/n." Whether the apology was for holding you without your consent or for everything that happened, you painfully let it slide. Silently bowing to him, then quickly walking away with the others.
Noritoshi could only watch wistfully as your figure disappeared from his view.
âââ
"The nerve of shitty men," Mai angrily stuffed her mouth with eggs from her bento. "Thinking they own women, that they're better than us. It was like this with the men in my family as well. Bullying and kicking aside the weaker women."
You sadly poked at your food. It was katsudon. You ordered it ahead of time from the cafeteria, wanting to perk up with a favorite dish. But today it tastes so bland. It wasn't the cooking that was off. Just that you had no appetite.
"Wouldn't you want to talk it out with Kamo senpai, y/n?" Miwa asked. Truth be told you were adding fire to the problem. You just dumped your anger on Noritoshi and kept rudely cutting him off before leaving him.
But your pride and broken heart didn't allow you to go back to him. "I don't think there's anything left for me to say or do to be honest. I'm not in the mood to face him. At all." You lied.
Mechamaru surprisingly spoke out, "Love is a fickle thing. And it's a fact that women are more in tune with their emotions than men are. But I think you won't regret it if you give him a chance. Kamo Noritoshi isn't a bad man."
Mai huffed. "Whose side are you even on?"
"There are no sides. Just two idiots who are madly in love with each other." Mechamaru dryly replied.
Your heart clenched, but you stayed silent, not denying the fact that even after you pushed him away, you still loved him.
"Let's talk about something else shall we?" Miwa hurriedly changed the topic and started discussing the homework to be done.
âââ
Hiroki was both the best and the worst brother you could ask for. Because he chose this time to surprise you with a visit at Kyoto High, claiming he wanted to see how you were doing with classes and that he would stay for a while.
Secretly, he wanted to meet and gauge Noritoshi, only to find out that the both of you have just broken up. You brought him into your dorm room to have a chat and some snacks.
âWHA?! YOU- You ended things with your soulmate?! You were together for like what?! 4 Months?â His jaw dropped as you told him the entire story.
You gave a drawn out sigh. âHiro nii, Iâm done. Like⌠He⌠I dunno anymore. To be honest I broke up with him in the heat of the moment.â
âTsk, youâve always been led by your emotions. Thatâs why youâre so reckless half the time sis. You didnât even try to talk it out with him.â He asked as he opened a bag of chips.
You stayed silent and reached for chips. Chewing and ignoring him.
âWhatâs with you and bottling all your pent up anger only to toss it onto the poor guy? Didnât even give him a chance to explain himself.â he tutted.
You whirled on him angrily. âThey just want me for my power. Then theyâll let him off with like a dozen women around him. What the fuck is there for him to explain?!â
Hiroki looked way too calm. âWho are 'they'?â
You paused. âThe Kamo family.â
âAre you 100% sure Noritoshi was in this only to use you?â
âLike 99.99%...â you trailed off. Hiroki eyed you knowingly. âThat 0.01 percent chance of him loving you. You considered it, even though thatâs a small ass probability sis. But hey, thatâs your man. If you want him out, our familyâs got your back. Iâll beat him up for you if you need me toâ
You shook your head at him.
Hiroki sighed, âThough with that concubine thing, I can see it happeninâ. Clan heads are desperate to have a son with the inherited technique. The Gojo clan just got lucky with Satoru. We dunno if itâs normal in the Kamo clan though. But with you as his soulmate, he shouldnât need any. Somethin ainât addin upâŚâ He got lost in thought.
âYou wonât know until you talk with Kamo himself.â
You sadly continued eating your chips. âI hate it when youâre right.â
âââ
The next morning Utahime urgently called for a full student body plus all available jujutsu sorcerers on site for a meeting.
You and Hiroki stumbled into the room, almost late, pushing against each other. The other students looked curiously at the man who was fighting you for space on the couch.
You jabbed him in the gut and put a leg over his. âUhhhh y/n who is that?â Mai asked.
Your cousin shrugged your leg off of his, stood up and said his greetings, âHello, I am Tsuchimikado Hiroki. Alumni here at Kyoto Jujutsu High. Semi-grade 1 sorcerer. Pleased to meet you all and thanks for taking care of my lil sis- ah I mean cousin.â
âOhhhhâ Miwa took a closer look. You noticed Noritoshi glancing over at you. Todo walked up to him and pointed a finger, âTsuchiâs relative? Then what woman is your idea-â
You used your technique to immobilise Todo and forced him to sit down in a daze. âSorry for my rudeness, senpai. You can have that convo later.â You knew it would take too long if this starts again.
Hiroki looked affronted, âItâs rude to point bruh.â
Utahime clapped her hands to gather your attention as Principal Gakuganji appeared on the podium.
âThank you so much all for coming into this meeting on such short notice. Especially to the alumni and other available Jujutsu sorcerers. Let's get straight to the point: I am here to announce that War is coming.â

New year, Old feels ~ P.P
A/N: Itâs officially New Year over here so Happy 2021! I hope itâs amazing for all of you! This was originally meant to be another fic but I repurposed it and here it is, a little new years eve fluff for you all. I wasnât going to post this but I ended up liking it.Â
WC: 2.5k
Warnings: mentions of drinking
Peter watched the snowflakes flitter past his window as the sun hit its peak in the sky. He stretched out his seat and ran his fingers through his curls as he thought about the one person that had been occupying his brain.Â
One of his best friends from high school and the girl he had a crush on since freshman year had recently come back for Winter break. It had been a whole year of lost contact since you had moved away for college. Peter had promised he would keep in contact but between Spidey duties and college work piling up he had let you slip from his mind. It didnât help that heâd also seen you had a new boyfriend and Peter felt the same jealousy he had always felt about you creeping back up. Feelings he would rather have forgotten.Â
The last time you had talked exactly one year ago today at the annual New Yearâs Eve party you had gotten into a fight because of said jealousy which ended with you storming out before midnight. Peter had planned to finally confess his feelings and kiss you that night but plans change and so do people.
He kept going back to your contact page on his phone or your social media, sometimes heâd even type out a message but he would delete it before he could press send. Nothing seemed right anymore, he was scared that if he tried to say something to you it would be the wrong thing and end up pushing you away even more.Â
It got hard, especially over Christmas. All he wanted was to text you or call you and all he thought about was if you were having a good day or not. He wanted to hear that excitement in your voice and how he could always tell if you were smiling even through the phone. The present he had wrapped for you still lay under his bed, catching his eye every so often and breaking his heart even more.
May, Ned and MJ had tried to cheer him up and get him into the festive spirit but the truth was that without you, it wasnât the same and Peter was sure it never would be. So he was pretty miserable for most of the festive season, he had gotten up the courage to message you merry christmas but he was yet still to get a reply.Â
Just as he was looking at the read message on his phone, something hit his window pulling Peter from his spiralling thoughts. Whatever it was disappeared quickly but still made Peter look out his window to see Ned attempting to throw snowballs at his window.Â
He gave a small chuckle and threw on his coat and gloves before heading to meet his best friend.Â
âYou know you can just text me right?âÂ
âYeah but this is way more fun.â Ned laughed and threw a snowball directly at Peter who managed to dodge it perfectly much to Nedâs dismay. âThatâs cheating.âÂ
Peter just shrugged and smirked as he made a snowball and aimed at Ned who wasnât so quick to dodge and ended up with a face full of snow. Peter let out a laugh and ran away as the snowball fight got into full swing.
Ned got in a few good shots but it was Peter who was in the lead. He was just about to deliver the final devastating blow when someone else intercepted it. The snowball hit May right on the cheek.Â
âOh my god, May! Iâm so sorry.â The tip of Peterâs ears went pink as his aunt glared over at him before letting out a laugh.Â
âItâs fine honey.â May smiled at him, happy to see her nephew finally having fun and smiling. She invited Ned in for some leftover pie and he followed her inside with Peter behind.Â
Peter went back up to his room and showed Ned the new spider-man tech he was working on. Keeping focused on Spider-man stuff and being on patrol had served as a good distraction to what was happening inside of his brain. He had hoped after a year, heâd forget about you but all the festivities just reinforced the feelings of longing and missing.Â
He was just rambling about the new gadget he was working on when his phone popped up with a notification. His eyes immediately drifted to his phone but after seeing it was only a candy crush notification, they dropped with disappointment.Â
âDude.â Ned gave him a look and Peter knew what he was about to say. âJust tell her.âÂ
Peter shook his head, feigning ignorance of knowing what Ned was saying and shrugged. âTell who what?âÂ
âTell Y/n you love her. Itâs so obvious and sheâs only back in town for a few weeks.â Ned sighed and smiled as Peterâs cheeks went bright red. He tried to deny it but he knew it was no use.Â
âI-I canât.â Peter put his head in his hands and sighed deeply. âI canât ruin things more than I already have.âÂ
Ned looked at Peter sadly, heâd never quite seen Peter like this. Sure heâd seen Peter broken after a few fights and battles but heâd always gotten back up, this time it just seemed like he didnât want to.Â
âYou know what I think you need?âÂ
Peter looked up at him expectantly and raised his brow.Â
âSocial interaction.âÂ
Peter gave Ned a somewhat disgusted and confused look, shaking his head before realising what he was talking about.Â
âNope, definitely not.âÂ
Despite his words and his adamant attitude not to go, Peter found himself putting on his best shirt and jacket for a party. Heâd already had to talk to more people than he usually did and he really wasnât in the mood for a party especially not a New Yearâs Eve one.Â
He remembered this time last year as he watched all the couples around him and how he had wanted what they had so badly with someone. He just never realised that the person he wanted to be with was right under his nose the whole time.Â
And now heâd screwed everything up for good. Heâd be amazed if you ever spoke to him again after the way heâd acted but if there was one thing about Peter, it was that he always held onto hope.Â
He walked into the party with Ned, taking a deep breath as he looked around the room. People were already well into the party spirit with drinks and those cheesy glasses and hats that read â2021â. Peter felt someone clap their hand on his shoulder and turned around to see Flash, already tipsy by the smell of his breath.Â
âPenis! I didnât expect you here. I thought youâd still be crying over Y/n and her new boyfriend.â He made some kissy noises before handing Peter a pair of party glasses and stumbling away. Peterâs face burned red with jealousy and anger.Â
So thatâs why youâd been so distant. Peter wondered for a second if it was the same college guy youâd been seeing and immediately started trying to scan the room for the face heâd seen in the picture. His heart was racing and his whole body felt like bursting with the amount of emotion he was trying to hide.Â
Ned tried to distract him, getting him a drink and including him in some drinking games but Peterâs mind stayed distracted. He assumed youâd be here but maybe you had known heâd be coming and wanted to avoid him or maybe you were too busy with your new boyfriend to think about parties.Â
Every thought about you only made Peter grow more upset until finally the alcohol started to numb his feelings and thoughts just enough for him to relax more. Peter started to actually enjoy the party and even won a few drinking games.Â
He was just about to get another drink when finally he spotted you across the room, sat in the same spot that you both had been last year. Peterâs memories of that night rushed back; the way you looked so pretty even in the dim light of the party and the sadness in your eyes before you stormed out. Most of all he remembered how youâd cheered him up from that miserable night of being single and the laughter you had shared. He wanted all of that again, he wanted you again.Â
The first thing Peter noticed was how miserable you seemed. You were staring into your cup as you swirled your straw around in the liquid, deep in thought so it seemed so much so that you didnât hear or see him approaching.Â
Peter fidgeted with his shirt as he took a deep breath before sitting next to you. You looked at him in surprise before quickly going back to stirring your drink absentmindedly. Both of your minds were whirring at twice their speed trying to figure out what to say and how to act to the person who had been your best friend but for the past year had only felt like a stranger.Â
âN-nice party.â Peter mumbled, cringing the moment he spoke. You bit back a giggle and nodded slowly before looking at him. He met your gaze and both your cheeks burned red before you both let out a laugh at the awkwardness.Â
âIâm sorry, i was trying to think of something to say and-â Peter laughed and blushed as you smiled at him.Â
âDefinitely a 10 out of 10 for effort.â You giggled and sipped on your drink, looking back out at the party. The laughter died quickly between you and the awkward tension creeped back in.Â
Peter followed your gaze and watched as couples danced around the room. He had hoped last year that when new yearâs rolled around again he wouldnât be single. He had thought that college would help him forget you but if anything it only made him miss you more because every time something happened whether it be good or bad, you were the only one he wanted to tell just like you had always been.Â
The truth was that he missed you so much it physically hurt him. Sure it had eased for a while and he knew it was his fault but that didnât stop the pain from the moment he saw you whether through a screen or sitting next to him right now.Â
He had seen all the happy memories youâd been having at college and he wished that he could have been a part of them with you or at least had you tell him all about them but it felt like you were just two strangers now.Â
âSo howâs college been?â You asked idly, a tension in your voice that Peter couldnât quite place.Â
âG-good. Stressful but good.â He nodded and felt the blush start to spread on his cheeks again. You hummed and nodded, fidgeting with the hem of your dress. âHow about you?âÂ
You looked downwards as Peter turned to you, gripping your drink tighter in your hand. âUm itâs been okay.â It might have been a while since Peter had last seen you but he knew you well enough to know when you were lying.Â
âY/n-?âÂ
âIt sucks okay?â You turned to him sharply and Peter saw the water build up in your eyes, threatening to spill. âI hate it. I missed my home, my friends and I missedâŚ. â You trailed off your sentence, your cheeks turning red under the dim lights of the room. Peter didnât have to ask but he hoped he knew what you meant.Â
He carefully placed his hand over yours and gave a gentle squeeze. âI missed you too.âÂ
You looked up in surprise and let a tear fall down your cheek which Peter quickly wiped away. Your heart was racing and you could feel your face burning red the more you looked at Peterâs soft expression.
A million questions were whirring in your mind but you chose the one that had been on your mind for a year. âWhy didnât you keep in touch?âÂ
Peter sighed and looked down at the floor, heâd been dreading that question the most. âI-I saw your instagram. You had this new life, new boyfriend and well I thought that you didnât need me anymore.â Peter covered up his sniffle with a cough and sipped on his drink.Â
âPeter.â You squeezed his hand and rubbed your thumb over his knuckles until Peter finally looked up at you. âI will always need you.âÂ
Peterâs heart thumped loudly as his whole body lifted with hope. You didnât hate him. He knew this was his only chance to tell you the thing Ned had been pushing him to tell you all year. The thing he knew he needed to say and it was the alcohol in his system that gave him the courage to do it.
You gave him a soft smile, practically being able to watch the cogs turn in his head which meant he was thinking something through. The words were bubbling in your chest, threatening to spill like word vomit but you bit your tongue. You wanted to tell Peter the real reason you had been miserable and why you were so thankful to see him here again but you were scared.Â
âY/n.â Peter sat up straight and took both of your hands in his, squeezing gently. âI have to tell you something.âÂ
You looked at him with a smile, covering up how nervous you felt because if it was what you wanted to say too then this really was it.Â
The countdown started in the background but all you could see was Peter. The way he had tried to tame his curls with gel, the fancy shirt he always wore to parties and the nervous smile that played on his lips. For Peter all he could see was you and even with his heightened senses the background noise faded.Â
â3âŚ2âŚ1... âÂ
Peter took a deep breath but before he could speak, you felt the liquid courage in your system and took the first move. You crashed your lips onto his and kissed him.Â
âHAPPY NEW YEAR!âÂ
Peter hummed in surprise and his body panicked for a moment before he realised what was happening and cupped your face in his hands as he started to kiss you back. The words that he meant to say died on his tongue but he knew that everything you both felt was being said in that moment as your lips moved in sync with each otherâs.Â
It was perfect, it was blissful, it was pure heaven. Just like Peter had always imagined. When it finally ended due to much needed air and the interruption of a party popper covering the both of you, you both broke into laughter as you held each other close.Â
âI love you Y/n, I always have.â Peterâs warm breath ghosted over your lips as he rested his forehead against yours, a wide smile on his face.Â
You smiled back and ran your fingers through his curls, breaking them out of the gel. âI love you too Peter, always.â You giggled before kissing him again and again, finally feeling on top of the world.Â
This whole year had been a disaster but having you in his arms was all Peter needed and now there was a whole new year waiting to start over again, for good this time.Â

In an alternate universe,
(Specifically the universe of Make Me Happy)
On August 2nd, 2021, Kurt Hummel and Sebastian Smythe just got engaged last night in central park. They spent this morning shopping for engagement rings and skyping their families to tell them the news.
Now that itâs evening, theyâre at Fourth Wall. Theyâve just found out that Brad, the Piano Guy, is actually named David (it might be time to find a new bar out of sheer embarrassment).
In this world, they donât have to wear masks to the bar or show proof of vaccination, because there never was a pandemic. Broadway never closed, and instead, Kurt Hummel, Rachel Berry, Andrew Ivanov, Adam Crawford, Lexie Hiashi, and Kyle Rosen have spent the last few years building their careers on and off-Broadway, and their moment is finally here. And through it all, Frankie has not just been fangirling over them, sheâs been working to get where they are. The Longest Distance has just swept the Tonyâs, Rachel is starring in Oklahoma at Shakespeare in the Park, and things have really started coming together. Alex and Trent are engaged and finally both in New York, Tina and Mike are married, Blaine and Zeke are married, and Sam and Mercedes are finally back together.
It is their moment. Tonight they are in their bar, and Kyle is playing the piano as Kurt and Sebastian sing what they finally admit is their song, Make Me Happy.
I put todayâs date in my calendar years ago and I honestly couldnât believe it when the notification went off. I started writing this fic in my car on March 2nd, 2013 (while waiting for the Gymnastics American Cup, which was literally so long ago that it was Simone Bilesâs FIRST EVER senior competition). When I started writing it, it seemed so far in the future, I couldnât even imagine it.
My life has changed so much since then. In March of 2013, I was working at my first job out of grad school. Since then, I took another job, then I quit to go back to grad school and change careers. I moved four times. I have acquired four nieces and nephews. I also am four years into my new career, which I love, but also eats all of my life.
I donât write much any more, even though I wish I did, and I hope some day I will be able to get back to it seriously. But since the day I began posting this fic on August 5th, 2014 to now, almost 7 years later, this fic has been a constant blessing. The response from the people who have read it has been overwhelming. Kurtbastian is far from the most popular ship, and I am pretty far from a well known author, but I still have been getting comments and kudos on this fic for seven years. That is completely incomprehensible to me.
Every single time I get a comment on this fic, whether it is someone commenting on multiple chapters, someone reading for the first time, or someone coming back to tell me that they read it again and loved it again, it brightens my day so much. Some people might think of it as âonly a fanfic,â but still, writing it is a huge accomplishment for me. It is still in my heart, and the fact that anyone else in the world loves it continues to amaze me.Â
So, to those of you who have read it and loved it and commented (or given it kudos or reblogged it or anything else) over the years, thank you. You have read all 250K of random backstory, you have embraced and loved my OCs, you have listened to my music choices, and you have made me so happy. I hope you know that every time you interact with a fic you love, an author gets their wings.
I still think I have a few things to throw out into the world that go with this story, and other things left to write, so hopefully you all arenât done with me.
But since this story has always been about music, I thought Iâd leave you with a song that I bounced around putting in MMH for years and just never quite found the moment for. Itâs a song that I think resonates with the real life 2020/2021 experience a lot.

how many works do you have on Ao3?
Discounting podfic on which Iâm listed as a co-author, 24. My concept writing doesnât go to AO3 and the vast majority of my Narnia fic was never cross-posted there. (Or reposted there, actually, I think most of it pre-dates the AO3.)
whatâs your total Ao3 word count?
1,050,810. oh, huh, I didnât actually realize Iâd passed the one million word mark (probably with Crown).
what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
all of these ended up being Star Wars, which is not a huge surprise. Morning will probably reach Dirt in the next couple of updates, Iâd guess.
Immutable, or, Five Times Obi-Wan Kenobi Compromised His Jedi Ethics for Anakin Skywalker -- this is not the oldest Star Wars fic on there, but I think itâs the second oldest. people just really like 5 times fic.
Wake the Storm - did you know that when I started Wake I assumed it was a very niche trope in what was, at the time, a pretty dead fandom? the kudos count on Wake actually outnumbers Gambit by more than 1600 kudos, so the number of people who go from Wake to Gambit is a lot lower than you might think.
Queen's Gambit - a significantly lower kudos count than Wake or Immutable. Gambitâs such a weirdo of a story, tbh, I canât be surprised by anything about Gambit anymore.
On the Edge of the Devil's Backbone - about 600 kudos less than Gambit, so less difference between Gambit and Backbone than between Wake and Gambit.
Dirt in the Machine - another older fic. Iâd rewrite this one if I cared enough to do so, because itâs not at my current standards (Immutable isnât either, for that matter) and I kind of wince every time I get comments on it. this is the first one of the top five to have below 1K kudos.
do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Iâll usually respond to direct questions, but I very, very seldom respond to comments in general. This is an old standing policy of mine thatâs now more than a decade old -- it used to be Iâd wait twenty-four hours before responding, then Iâd respond right before the next chapter went up, and for a while Iâd only respond to comments on the first few chapters of a story. Now I just mostly do not. The reasons for this are: (1) many, many years ago, I lost my temper pretty badly at a comment on a fic of mine (this was pre-AO3, this was back in my LJ days), and after that I moved to the âwait twenty-four hoursâ response so I didnât say anything without thinking about it, (2) I do go back and reread comments but I hate rereading my own responses, (3) I prefer to know the comments numbers on my fic are all from actual comments and not from me saying âthanks for reading!â, (4) I canât take that kind of responsibility for answering every single comment, man.
whatâs the fic youâve written with the happiest ending?
Of stuff Iâve written in the past ten years? (I canât really remember before that.) Maybe Backbone, because it ends on that pretty upbeat âyay team weâre going to be rebels now!â note. or Devilâs in the Details (other side part 1), though I donât really want to consider it a finished fic even though itâs technically finished; it has another âyay team weâre back together (minus Ezra)â ending. I tend to end on complicated and reasonably open endings, not like...happy endings.
whatâs the fic youâve written with the angstiest ending?
probably Gambit for the âeverything is super fucked upâ factor and also the fact that I never wrote the sequel. plus it ended with the entire Wake trio split up in a whole new universe, plus back in the Gambitverse Amidala not able to go back to Naboo, Ahsoka shunned, Palpatineâs new empire, Rex trapped in the Gambitverse, etc.
do you write crossovers?
I did in my Narnia days. I donât anymore. Working in widespread fandoms like Star Wars or the MCU is basically like writing crossover fic within the same universe, anyway.
have you ever received hate on a fic?
*hysterical laughter*
...yes. yes I have. itâs the reason every time I get a comment notification on Gambit or Wake I freeze in absolute terror. people HATE Wake and Gambit. I hate to say never, but I will probably never write those characters or in that series again.
do you write smut? if so, what kind?
not really? Iâve done relatively non-explicit sex but itâs not something Iâm super comfortable writing, especially in recent years. Iâm much more likely to do a fade to black.
have you ever had a fic stolen?
I think Gambit got scraped once when it was still in progress and my response was something along the lines of âgood luck, bro,â given the whole âstill in progressâ thing.
have you ever had a fic translated?
Iâve gotten a couple of translation requests but I canât recall if anythingâs ever been translated. (Or if I responded to them...I know a few I forgot to respond.)
have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, back in my Narnia days. Some SW concept writing and that ended so badly that Iâll never co-write again.
whatâs your all-time favourite ship?
Kanan/Hera, of course!
whatâs a wip that you want to finish but donât think you ever will?
gods, Dust in the Air, my Narnia Last Battle AU. Back when I started it in 2008 or so I didnât have the self-control or discipline I do now, even if I had a lot of the worldbuilding ability and the ability to conceive of if not execute long plot arcs, and I broke off more than I could chew. If I ever went back to it Iâd probably have to do a complete rewrite and it has the unique problem among my WIPs of being the last major fic I wrote in present tense -- I now write exclusively in past tense. The bones of the story are good, Iâd just have to go back to the bones and not just pick up where I left off.
what are your writing strengths?
Plot, worldbuilding/environment, action. I also do genuinely think Iâm very good at characterization too, but I think theyâre all inter-related. (Except the action, thatâs me alone. I love writing action and I generally get a lot of compliments on my action scenes.) look, I know itâs conceited, but Iâm good and I know Iâm good, and Iâm good in a pretty well-rounded way for the genre I write.
what are your writing weaknesses?
brevity. canât do it.
honestly, there are others, but I donât write stories where theyâd come up. I think I have a tendency to get to bogged down in dialogue in a way that Iâve never quite solved. I also let my emotions take over too much and not in the good fannish way, in the âIâm having a fucked up relationship with canon or fandom and itâs affecting my ability to workâ way.
what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
please stop having your Asgardians speak Latin for magic, man, thatâs my feeling on it.
okay, my feelings on it for me -- Iâve sprinkled bits and pieces of Huttese, Twiâleki, and tee-tiny bits of other stuff here and there in fic. Iâd not be comfortable doing more than that because the only other language that I really feel comfortable doing anything significant in is Latin, and even then Iâd hesitate. also, like, Latin! not a language that comes up in the fandoms I write in. even then, like -- any extended dialogue should be intelligible to the audience, and I donât expect my audience to be able read anything other than English; Iâd rather just say âthey switched to Twiâleki to sayâ or something similar.
what was the first fandom you wrote for?
like, online? Harry Potter. for things that I didnât post online because I didnât know what fic was yet? probably either The 10th Kingdom or The Mummy.
whatâs your favourite fic youâve written?
On the Edge of the Devilâs Backbone. I think itâs the best thing Iâve ever written, I think itâs the most tightly plotted, I think itâs got the best worldbuilding, I think itâs remarkably consistent thematically, and it was, at the time, a fic that I was very devoted to finishing or dying trying, because I was going through it at the time and some of it was connected to the fic.
I donât tag people, but please go for if you want!

Corpse Husband x Plus-sized Reader (Female)
Warnings: Body Image Insecurities, Low self-esteem, Swearing
Genre:Â Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: Feeling comfortable in her skin has hardly ever been the case for Y/N whoâs been struggling with body image issues all her life. However, they only get worse when she sees the âtypeâ of girls her crush is into.
Requested by Anon. Hi darling! Thank you so much for your request (hits close to home đ
) Iâm so sorry it has taken me so long to fulfill it and post it but here it finally is and if youâve stuck around long enough to read it, I hope you enjoy! ALSO! - Never forget how beautiful and amazing you are. Never compare your beauty to someone elseâs. Weâre all beautiful people and we all shine so brightly and uniquely. No one deserves to be compared to anyone when weâre all so different yet so incredible. Love you and appreciate you with all my heart, Vy â¤
If I ever need my ego taken down a few notches - it never does, itâs barely even present, to be honest - all I have to do is go on Instagram. To be honest, regardless of how Iâm feeling, opening that app is bound to make my mood plummet and come crashing into the ground so hard it drives a hole in it - probably in the form of a broken heart.
Being a content creator myself, I often get asked questions about my absence on that social platform specifically. I mean, the questions are based and rational I guess, considering Iâm not a faceless YouTuber and yet my Instagram account is void of any photos. Itâs not like I donât post at all - I do! I post on my story often but itâs more often than not scenery I find pretty or a poster Iâve made for a movie/video game. Bottom line is: I barely ever allow a picture of me to make it online. The most my fans are ever gonna get of me is a selfie which is also a super rare occurrence because of how long it takes me to take and choose one I donât hate.
Ok, but how am I supposed to find the motivation to post any sort of picture of myself when on my timeline Iâm always faced with people worthy of posting pictures of themselves. People with such perfect bodies and beautiful faces. Donât get me wrong, Iâm not jealous or envious of those people - good for them! They know what theyâre working with and theyâre working it well. I have nothing against them, in fact, I love seeing people proud of their bodies no matter their size, shape or weight. Those are my role-models: people who are proud of themselves, their bodies, their attributes and capabilities and donât hesitate to show them off. Those are the people I look up to but, deep down inside I know Iâll never be like.
Insecure about my body, having been referred to as âchubbyâ and âsquishyâ all my life. Inappreciative of the stuff I do: starting from my job as a graphic designer leading towards my job on YouTube - nothing I do, professionally or otherwise, satisfies me. Nothing I do is enough in my eyes because I feel incapable of ever being able to do enough. Iâve been called lazy and a half-asser a few too many times to be able to brush it off as a meaningless insult.Â
With these problems Iâve had with myself and my own perception of who I am and the work I do, Iâve never had the time for romance or romantic relationships. I second-guess the intentions of everyone who ever shows any interest in me because in my mind Iâm nothing special and I have nothing to offer - nothing attractive or likable at least. That being said, I havenât even been one to make heart eyes at others either. I busy myself with my job and some side-gigs, brushing off any relationship questions with the excuse that Iâm âjust too busy to be in a relationshipâ which is technically true.
Having spent twenty plus years with that mindset, one can imagine how surprised I was when I found myself catching feelings for someone. And that someone just couldnât be any other than the biggest YouTube sensation at the moment - Corpse Husband.
Iâm close friends with Poki - her and I were roommates at one point too - so her inviting me to play Among Us with them wasnât so strange. One or two games, I thought, nothing unusual there, just friendly curtesy. I wasnât expecting to warm up to the group of famous streamers nor did I expect them to welcome me among them so easily, mostly because my channel is so small and practically invisible to the YouTube algorithm. But soon enough, I became a permanent member of the team, making friends with every single one of those YouTubers I practically thought of a celebrities.
This journey of branching out to other content creators has proven itself to be surprisingly pleasant and has packed my book of friendships to the brim. All of that came unexpectedly, along with a wave of new subs and a higher view count. However, as I mentioned, it hasnât been all sunshine and rainbows.
I came to finally understand what my high school friends were talking about when they were head over heels for a boy - the butterflies in the stomach whenever he speaks your name; the importance of the laugh you share with him, how special and different it is; how cool it is to be impostors with him - ok they never said that, obviously, but itâs what I have as a substitute to the âwhen the two of you make eye-contactâ bullshit since Corpse and I have never seen each other in person. That is, of course, because of him being a faceless YouTuber and me being a self-conscious and insecure girl.
We do talk all the time though - texting, calling, chilling on Discord, you name it. Our conversations range from deeply philosophical to ones that might mislead someone into thinking weâre high. Thereâs no topic we havenât touched upon and yet we still manage to find something new to talk about. We have plenty of similarities but we also never seem to run out of differences we slowly come across as we keep getting to know each other better and better.Â
And somewhere along that journey I ended up catching feelings.
Human nature of wanting to connect with other people, I curse you for what youâve done to me.
You might think Iâm being overdramatic about the whole ordeal and that this is just a normal, natural occurrence many people experience in their life - some even daily. Well, not only am I far from used to it, but itâs also taking a toll of a different kind on me.
Itâs like a constant slap to the face.Â
That slap turned into a punch when Corpse and I started following each other on Instagram and I started getting daily reminders of how out of my depth I am with this crush on him. In over my head, especially when you look at all those girls whose pics and videos he reposts on his story. Imagine how that makes me feel, what that does to me - puts me back into the âConstantly not good enoughâ basket, the one Iâve been fighting to get out of all my life.
In the past and in different contexts I could easily say that it was all just my mind hating me intensely but now - now that I know for a fact Iâm not good enough and donât fit Corpseâs criteria - it hurts ten times as much. Iâm not one to do shit for someoneâs attention or to attract someoneâs eyes, but it really hurts my feelings. Often times, it also leads me to doing dumb things and making rash decisions.Â
Like the one I made two days ago.
Imagine me cringing and shaking my head at my own stupidity as I admit this: I, in a frenzy, ordered a whole e-girl getup with overnight delivery.Â
Wait, hold up, it gets worse.Â
I received it yesterday and spent the whole day regretting that decision, but then, in my most insecure hours - which was somewhere around midnight - I equipped the get-up, took a picture and posted it on my Instagram page. First full body pic Iâve ever posted on there. First pic Iâve posted there of any kind. There to stay, not to be gone in twenty four hours. First pic, and itâs not even of me. Itâs of who I want to be in order to fit someoneâs criteria. And that fucking stings.
As you might imagine, Iâve spent todayâs day regretting that decision as well. Recently my moodâs been nothing but regretting rash decisions that have surfaced under the influence of my ridiculous, constantly-present insecurities. And I wouldâve probably gotten over it rather quickly had I not received a message from Corpse that read:
âDidnât think of you with an e-girl aestheticâ
I didnât open the message, I peeped at it as it was a notification on my lock screen. Itâs still there, an unread notification. Itâs been two hours since I received it and I cannot think of a single thing to say in response to that.Â
Truth is, Iâm afraid. Iâm afraid of so many things right now.
Iâm afraid of becoming that girl in the photo, cause Iâm most definitely not her.
Iâm afraid of letting Corpse down by admitting Iâm not her.
Iâm afraid of what my own mind has made me do because it hates me so much and Iâm terrified of what it might do in the future.
Iâm afraid and stranded on things to do.
You canât be her forever, you know. Being her wonât make your insecurities go away, itâll only make them worse. Havenât you learned that by now?
I sigh, frustrated and irritated with myself as I grab my phone and tap on the notification, finally deciding to face the music and allow my instincts to carry me through the interaction. Improvisation, thatâs one of the few things Iâm good at. Letâs hope it doesnât fail me.
Iâm just about to type out my response - not sure what itâs gonna say - when I give the message Corpse has sent me a second glance.Â
I furrow my brows, finding thereâs more to it than that peep through the notification let me see.
âDidnât think of you with an e-girl aesthetic. Youâre personality is so bright and colorful, I couldâve never imagined you were into the darks and blacksâ
Because Iâm not
I fail to realize until the message has been sent that my thoughts are exactly what I typed out and sent.
And honestly, Iâm glad. It feels like Iâve spoken my truth, like Iâve lifted a huge boulder off my chest.
With that rare confidence in mind I go on and delete the picture.
In its spot, I post a picture I just now took - a mirror selfie in my homey get-up consisting of hot pink sweatpants and an oversized blue tee, my hair in a messy bun, my face free of make-up.
I caption it: âOops, had the e-girl filter on for the last one. This is filterless me tho so...Hi đĽ´â
A lot better, Iâm surprised to hear my inner voice say. I hope I donât get used to all this kindness on my brainâs part, probably wonât last, but damn if I donât milk every second of it.
Just then, I receive a new message from non other than Corpse.
âNow thatâs the girl I see when I think of you. Sheâs super cute đâ
My, oh my, who wouldâve guessed Corpse has a game like that - and by that I mean the ability to make me blush so intensely with only a text message.
Now ainât that better than being someone else, Y/N?
It sure is, it sure is.

off the record
a birthday fic for @fadefilter
â â
Captain America catches Bucky as he fumbles down the steps like heâs the goddamn prince from Enchanted.
âWhoops-a-daisy,â Captain America says with this big sincere smile as he helps Bucky back up to his feet.
âThanks,â Bucky says, not entirely sure what happened in the past thirty-five seconds, but very grateful to Captain America for catching him before his glasses slipped off of his nose and broke on the concrete steps outside of Avengers Tower, where Bucky just finished covering the latest Avengers press conference for the Times. Heâs been on the Avengers beat for almost a year now. It never gets old.
âNot a problem,â Captain America says. âSorry I wrinkled your shirt.â
Bucky looks down at his shirt; it is no more wrinkled than it was when he pulled it off of his bedroom floor this morning, but itâs nice of Captain America to give him enough credit to have had a neatly-pressed shirt beforehand.
âSee you around Bucky,â Captain America adds with a wave as he bounds down the steps.
Bucky waves after him, kind of watching his back retreat into the distance, and itâs not until after heâs out of view that Buckyâs journalistic instincts pop back up and he asks himself:
How does Captain America know my name?
â â
He gets off work around seven, then gets a wrap with extra garlic tahini sauce, which gets on his fingers and his wrinkled shirt, but itâs worth it because yum, and starts to snoop.
He goes by James Barnes professionally, so itâs not just because Captain America looks into whoâs covering Avengers events. He does have super soldier hearing â or, at least Wikipedia says he does â so maybe he overheard someone saying Buckyâs name?
But Bucky canât remember the last time someone at one of these press conferences actually called him Bucky.
Which means he must know from somewhere else.
â â
He spends four hours looking into every conceivable way they could be connected, but:
Captain America does not follow him on Twitter
He is not living in Captain Americaâs pre-war apartment, which he wants back
His relatives neither fought alongside or were saved by Captain America during World War II
Captain America does not go to the same gym
There is no evidence that Captain America is also on a first name basis with Sol, the guy who makes Buckyâs wraps and always remembers to give him extra tahini
Itâs disappointing. Frustrating. It must be thatâ
Thereâs a notification for him on his non-work-related email. The email he uses for his blog, because when he gets home from a hard day of reporting the news, he immediately gets online and writes think pieces about the news from a queer perspective.
He remembers that oh yes, he should check his blog, and goes to the page to see stats and comments and whatnot, and his eyes fall on a comment from a few days ago:
Thank you for your perspective on this. Your work is always a pleasure to read.
Itâs a little awkward and a little stilted and itâs also signed fromâŚ
SGR.
He searches his comments for others by SGR and there are⌠a lot from the past two years.
Most are just thanking him. A few ask for his perspective on something or a clarification. He even commented on a selfie Bucky sort of vainly put up, telling him that it was very cute.
One comment, from very early on, just says:
I wish I could go to Pride.
And Buckyâs heart breaks, just a little bit.
â â
Since heâs on the Avengers beat, itâs not long before he has another opportunity to see Captain America, Steven Grant Rogers again.
He asks his question, then sits back down, and really looks at the guy. He seems a little awkward and a little formal in this setting, his blond hair pushed back and off of his face. It wouldnât be too much of a stretch to think of him being interested in LGBT issues, right?
Maybe it is.
But Bucky signs his blog posts under the name Bucky.
â â
He didnât expect his request for an interview to be accepted, but a week later, heâs sitting in Captain Americaâs room in Avengers Tower. Bucky had suggested they go to a nearby coffee shop or a restaurant, but Captain America was pretty adamant that they do it in the Tower, which, sure.
But itâs a little weird to sit close to Captain America, whose leg is jiggling with nervous energy, this phone between them.
âBefore we start,â Bucky says, âcan I ask you a question off-the-record?â
Captain America blinks.
âSure thing,â he says.
âI donât want to come off as a narcissist, but do you read my blog?â
Thereâs a beat, then another.
âYeah,â Captain America says. âYeah, I do.â
Bucky nods.
âAlright then, Captainââ he starts, but is interrupted.
âSteve,â he says. âPlease call me Steve.â
Bucky looks up. They lock eyes. And they start the interview.
Neither of them talk about it.
â â
After itâs published, Steve calls Bucky.
âHullo?â Bucky says, almost having swallowed his muffin.
âHi, Bucky, IâŚâ He hesitates. âI really liked the interview.â
âThanks, so did my editor,â Bucky says with a chuckle, then a cough, as a muffin crumb gets stuck in the middle of his throat.
After Steve asks him if heâs okay, he says, hesitant, âHowâd you know Iâm a fan?â His voice comes off light, but thereâs nerves behind it, Bucky can tell.
âYou called me Bucky when I fell over that one time.â
âThatâs not your name?â
âMy by-line is always James.â
âOh,â Steve says, then laughs. âCaught me, I guess.â
âTook me a while to figure it out,â Bucky says, looking at his muffin longingly and contemplating if it would be rude to take a bite. âStarted to come up with all sorts of conspiracy theories.â
âYeah? Like what?â
âI was living in your dead familyâs apartment and you wanted it back, so you were playing an elaborate rouse where you tripped me, leading to a seduction, a quick marriage, and a transfer of property.â
âAnd how do you know thatâs not true?â Steve asks.
âI asked my landlord. My building wasnât built until 1963.â
Steve laughs again and itâs honestly a really nice sound. You donât hear it often during press conferences.
âThe tenement I lived in was pushed down ages ago, and even if it wasnât, Iâm fine without having a bathtub in the kitchen.â He hesitates. âBut thereâs one part of that I think may be true.â
âWhatâs that?â
âThe seduction part.â
In retrospect, Bucky is glad he didnât take a bite of his muffin. He would be spitting it out.
âWhat?â Bucky croaks.
âOr, at least, a date. If youâd be interested.â
âWith me?â Bucky asks, agog.
âI read your blog, I know youâre single. And since we know each other now, I thought it wouldnât be too much of an issue if I asked you out. No pressure, butâŚâ he trails off.
About a thousand different thoughts fly across Buckyâs mind all at once, but only one word comes out of his mouth:
âYes.â
â â
Bucky gets moved off of the Avengers beat because itâs kind of a conflict of interest if a reporter is dating the First Avenger. He gets moved to local politics, which is fine, and itâs all worth it when heâs writing his and Steveâs own wedding announcement for the paper.

The Scars of Our Past: Chapter 23
Hope yâall enjoy the chapter đĽ°
âWhy is it every time I see you, you look even more exhausted than when you left?â Fabian said only half joking while looking him up and down critically. Leo huffed a sigh as he dropped his bag and plopped down next to his friend to start lacing up his skates.
Leo chuckled in response, âI donât know man, itâs just been⌠an emotionally charged week.â
âYeah? Didnât you just move in with that guy, I thought you would be happy? Is it already not working out?â
âNo,â Leo answered quickly, making Fabian glance over at him in surprise, âno, itâs been great, Finn is great. Thereâs justâŚâ Leo let his voice trail off, not entirely sure what it was he wanted to say. His mind flicked back to the night before, falling asleep in Finn's bed, the man himself wrapped up tight in his arms, the warm velvety timer of his voice lulling him into unconsciousness as he painted pictures with his words. Then this morning when he woke up alone, the warm sheets his only companion.
When the early morning sunrays began streaming through Finns open blinds Leo had slowly blinked his eyes open a bit nervously. He couldnât help the butterflies fluttering inside him, he was scared to see where he would stand with Finn now that the cover of night had been stripped away by the golden light of morning. However, it seemed his fear was unwarranted as the redhead was nowhere to be found once Leo had finally opened his eyes. Glancing down at the empty space Finnâs body had once occupied, Leo found a slip of paper; one edge was ragged like it had been torn from a notebook and in neat angular handwriting was a message.
Good morning Nutter Butter. I went out for a run to clear my head this morning so I probably wonât see you until later. Have a good day at practice, Iâll see you tonight.
At the bottom he had signed his name and added a little doodle of a fish. Leo smiled softly reading the words over again, he trailed a fingertip over the paper feeling the little indents from where Finn's pen had pressed into the paper. And when he wandered back over to his own room to get ready to head to practice Leo took that paper with him, he so very carefully tucked it into his nightstand wanting to keep it safe.
âThereâs just a lot,â he finally finished.
Fabian nodded, seeming to catch some of the meaning behind those words, âHey, you know what? How about after practice we head to the coffee shop and you can tell me about that lot that you have going on. Maybe an outside opinion can make it easier, or even just talking about it might help.â
Leo felt a little jolt of affection for his friend, after all Fabian had been the first one to welcome him to Gryffindor with open arms and had since remained as a constant support.
âThat actually sounds really great.â
âAlright, well itâs a plan,â he said with a crooked grin, âbut now we need to get out on the ice before Madam Maxine comes searching for us, cause believe me it would not be fun.â
âIâll take your word for that,â Leo said with a laugh following Fabian out of the locker room and towards the ice. The two of them parted and began working through their warm ups, Leo melted into the motions stretching and loosening his shoulders, his hips, making sure his muscles were warm and ready to let him fly.
Once he had finished his warm ups Leo set to work on the second of the new jumps Madam Maxine had added to his program. The quads were challenging, thatâs an understatement, Leo thought to himself as he pulled his body off the ice for the umpteenth time rubbing at the sore bruise forming on his ass cheek.
âLeo, come.â
Leo glanced up to see that Madame Maxine had glided elegantly onto the ice herself and was beckoning him over to her. Skating closer Leo blinked a bit in shock, he was always thrown when he came across someone taller than himself and his coach positively towered over him on her skates.
âYouâre making progress,â she said, accent thick around the words.
âThank you Madam,â he nodded.
âYou still need to work on your expressions though, your face is completely blank when you skate. I can see the gears turning in your mind as you perform.â
âUh⌠yeah, Iâm still working on that,â Leo said, feeling a self-conscious flush rise in his cheeks. He still had no idea how to make his feelings come across in his performance, after all he had begun figure skating as a way of running and hiding from the feelings inside him, how was he supposed to simply just let them out for everyone to see?
âHave you settled on a composition? You should really be working with your music at this stage.â
âNo, um not quite,â he said, brushing a bit of hair out of his face nervously. Leo knew that he should have picked his music a long time ago but for some reason anything that he listened to just didnât feel right, it didnât fit.
âHmm, you have one more week to choose,â she said sternly, âif you have not selected a piece by then, you will not be ready to compete.â
âAlright, Iâll have something by then,â Leo replied, Madam Maxine simply nodded and gestured for him to continue his work before she skated away to speak to Gilderoy. With a little sigh Leo got back to it.
***
Leo groaned at the ache in his bones when he finally left the ice, making his way into the locker room on his blade guards. Sitting down on the bench to unlace his skates Leo snagged a water bottle and his phone from his skate bag only to realiz there were several new notifications waiting for him. He huffed a laugh at the name that popped up when he clicked on the message.
(Mighty Mouse): Video attached
Leo clicked on the video and suddenly Loganâs face was filling up his screen as he held the camera in front of himself.
âSo, when I got to the rink for practice today, guess what I found waiting for me?â Loganâs voice fell from the phone's speaker filled with exasperation. He shifted the camera to what looked like his stall in the teamâs locker room, pushed to the side was a pile of what looked like childrenâs hockey equipment in the Lions colors.
âThis,â he said, turning the camera back to himself dramatically, âis the aftermath of what one James Potter considers a prank.â Logan reached down and grabbed something out of the pile and held up a ridiculously small jersey that had read Tremblay 10. âHe came in here and replaced every single piece of gear in my stall with equipment meant for six year olds,â there was a pained look on Loganâs face as he said that but Leo couldnât help the cackle that ripped through him at the thought of Logan walking into the locker room to find everything in his spot miniaturized.
âAnd then!â Logan continued on the video, âwhen I being a little confused as to where all my crap went, asked what was going on, this bastard had the audacity to look me dead in the eye and say âOh, I thought these would fit you better, with how small you are and everything.ââ
Leo completely lost it at that coupled with the crazed look on Loganâs face, he could barely breathe through his howling laughter.
âI swear, if he didnât need them to play I would have taken his knee caps right then and there,â Logan zoomed the camera a little closer to his face and let his voice fall a bit to a whisper, âbut Iâll get him back, believe me Iâll get him back.â Loganâs eyes glowed with mischief, âIâll keep you posted,â he said with a wink just as the video ended.
Leo was still chuckling as he clicked the next attached video clip which looked like it was sent a little later than the first. Logan was now in what looked like a weight room, he had changed into a Lions logo muscle shirt, a pair of basketball shorts, and he had his curls tucked up under a snapback. Leo struggled to pull his focus onto the words coming from Loganâs mouth as his strong arms and shoulders were now in full view.
âSo,â Logan started glancing over at the door to make sure no one was coming, âIâve devised the perfect payback.â Logan grinned deviously at the camera and held up a little container that made Leo gasp when he recognized it, âwell, if you donât know, this here is citric acid and even just a tiny bit will turn something into a tart little surprise.â Logan chuckled and grabbed a bottle of blue Gatorade, âthis is Jamesâs, heâs pretty much the only one that drinks the blue. Honestly, heâs a little obsessive about it. Well, letâs see how much he likes it with⌠letâs say a hefty amount of citric acid in there.â
âOh no,â Leo couldnât stop the words from tumbling out as he watched Logan unscrew the cap and dump more citric acid than should ever be consumed into the Gatorade. He gave the bottle a shake and placed it over by someoneâs gym bag.
âAnd now we wait,â he grinned and wagged his eyebrows at the camera suggestively as the clip cut out.
Leo didnât hesitate for a second before clicking on the last video Logan had sent, from the timestamp only a few minutes ago. This clip was a little different, Logan was no longer holding the camera; he must have propped his phone up against an unused weight plate as Leo could now see the rest of the weight room. There were now several more people there using various machines, Leoâs eyes instantly snapped to where Logan was off to the side doing deadlifts, he had to stop himself from gasping aloud at the sight. Tearing his eyes away from Logan to glance at the others, he spotted none other than Sirius Black standing and chatting with a slightly shorter man with a mop of curly brown hair and thin wire framed glasses. The two were near where Logan had placed the contaminated Gatorade bottle. As they talked the man with glasses, who Leo assumed must be James, reached down and snagged the bottle. Leo cringed in anticipation as he watched James laugh carelessly at something Sirius said then finally bring the bottle up to his lips.
James had taken the biggest gulp imaginable of the sour liquid and Leo watched the exact moment his very soul left his body as it hit tongue. What happened next must have only been milliseconds but Leo still could see as James face first went green, then ghostly pale, his eyes wide and panicked before he sprayed the drink directly into Siriusâs face.
Leo was laughing so hard he wasnât even making noise anymore just clutching his stomach and shaking from it as he watched James drop to his knees and spit trying to get the sour taste out of his mouth while Sirius was spluttering in disgust. In the background Leo could hear the rest of the guys in the weight room laughing just as hysterically. Suddenly, Logan's face came into frame just as the video ended.
âWhat was that about?â
Leo glanced up at Fabian who had settled next to him to unlace his own skates. Still trying to suppress his laughter, Leo just shook his head, ânothing, just a friend doing something stupid.â
âYeah? You know, I think that was the first time Iâve seen you actually laugh like that.â
âThatâs not true,â Leo immediately shot back, âI laugh all the time, itâs not my fault you arenât as funny as you think you are.â
Fabian made a scandalized face and put a hand over his heart, âOuch, that hurt. I am mildly offended. I am a hoot.â
Leo scoffed at that.
âAnd besides Iâm talking like actually laughing, not that polite little chuckle you do.â
Just then Leo felt his phone buzz in his hand, when he glanced down he nearly choked at the image waiting for him. Logan had taken off his shirt, revealing his entire chest and torso glistening in a sheen of sweat leftover from his workout, his curls were fluffing out from under the edges of his snapback and he had his face scrunched up like he was laughing super hard. The caption âI Wonâ was written across the image, in the background Leo could just see both James and Sirius glaring daggers at him.
âIs that this âfriendâ that seems able to make you laugh uncontrollably?â Fabian asked leaning over to sneak a peek at the picture.
âHmm, yeah,â Leo answered, his eyes still roving over the image of Logan on his screen, a soft smile pulled at his lips, âthis is Logan,â he turned the screen a bit showing Fabian.
âWait, Logan? As in Logan Tremblay? From the Lions?â
Leo simply nodded.
âFrom that look on your face I take it he has something to do with everything youâve had going on lately?â
He nodded again.
Fabian chuckled and leaned down to pull off his skates, âWell, hurry up and get changed then you can tell me all about him, and Finn.â
Leo rolled his eyes fondly but slipped his phone back into his bag and began pulling off his own skates. It wasnât long before the two of them, now clad in their street clothes, had made their way to Polaris Coffee claiming a cozy booth in the corner to chat.
Leo wrapped his hands around his drink, the heat bleeding through the ceramic into his palms. He couldnât help but think back to the last time he had sat in this coffee shop, a different redhead smiling at him across the table. Fabian was almost uncharacteristically quiet, evidently waiting for Leo to feel comfortable enough to share the things that have been on his mind over the past weeks.
âSoâŚâ Leo began not entirely sure where to start.
âSoâŚâ Fabian mimicked raising his eyebrows teasingly, making Leo laugh. A bit of tension bled out of him as he took a sip of his coffee, he let the warm rich flavor wash over his tongue and calm his nerves.
âI think Iâm falling in love with my roommate⌠and his best friend,â Leo said, jumping straight into the heart of the matter. And just like that it was like a dam breaking, words tumbled out of Leoâs mouth as he told Fabian about his time with Finn and Logan. He glossed over the parts about his past, but he told him about every subtle look, every gentle brush of fingertips, and sweet embrace. By the time he had run out of words Leoâs heart ached with the knowledge that he was utterly fucked by the intensity of his feelings for these two.
âYou know,â Fabian started setting his mug down with a soft clunk on the table, âto me it sounds these people mean a lot to you, Iâm honestly not seeing a problem here.â
Leo sighed and flopped back against the booth, his head knocking against the wooden part, âThey really do, and well, I guess itâs not so much of a problem as just a bit complicated. I mean I like them, both of them. But Finn and Logan have this⌠thing between them. Like I get the vibe that they like each other, but then thereâs moments with each of them that makes me think just maybe they like me. I just⌠I donât know Fab.â
âHave you tried talking to them?â Fabian asked, âLike I know that sounds like the clichĂŠ answer but honestly, I think thatâs really the only way youâll be able to know how either of them are actually feeling. About you, and about each other.â
Leo snagged his mug off the table and took a sip before replying, âI know,â he sighed. âI know I need to talk to them. I donât think itâll be bad with Finn, from what Iâve seen so far heâs pretty open with his thoughts but Logan, Logan will be a challenge.â
Fabian shot him a sympathetic look at that, âWell, Iâm always here for moral support,â he raised his mug in a little salute.
Leo chuckled and rolled his eyes but clinked his own mug against it before taking another sip of his drink.

So Henry, you want to start a YouTube channel? - Prologue
Summary: Twenty five year old YouTuber Sandy Choi has no idea that one of her five million subscribers is the one and only Henry Cavill. When he asks her to help him out with starting his own YouTube channel, she falls more and more in love with her. But she shouldâve known that dating one of the most desirable bachelors, does come with a prize.Â
Henry Cavill x Sandy Choi (ofc)
A/N: What does one do when finding a new obsession with a celebrity? In my case, you write a fanfic series about it... and create an entire YouTuber including a channel introduction. Oops. If you want to be on the taglist for this one (I figure the people on my taglist for Keanu Reeves stories donât want to be included on this one - if i figured wrong, let me know), please tell me and Iâll add you on it.Â

Masterlist // Channel introduction // Chapter 1Â
It has been about three months since Henry Cavill stumbled upon Sandy Choiâs YouTube channel and he is thanking the YouTube algorithms every single day for recommending it to him. He was surprised that he never heard about her before, since her channel is pretty big and well known, but maybe he is too old to keep up to date with YouTubers nowadays.
He binge watched her videos, watching clips from her from three years ago when she started her channel. Seeing her grow from a twenty two year old college student, to a successful YouTuber and young adult author, impresses Henry. He felt like he didnât have his life together at that age at all and she seems so at ease. She has achieved great thing so far and watching her vlogs, helps him take his mind off his own life and the stress that sometimes comes with it.
He has a YouTube account, but only uses it to be subscribed to her channel and liking her videos. He doesnât want to miss any of her updates on her channel. Henry is plopped on his couch, cuddling with Kal when he gets a notification.
Sandy Choi has uploaded a new video. Without thinking twice he opens the YouTube app on his iPad. He shouldnât be this obsessed with a twenty five year old YouTuber, but itâs something about her aesthetic, about her calm way of talking and how she takes the viewers with her. Itâs like being there with her and God, does he want to spend some time with her, even if she is just editing a new video, her book or is taking them with her during photoshoots.
The video loads and he gives it a thumbs up before the video has even started. Kal places his head on Henryâs lap, sighing deeply, as if the big fur ball knows that his owner will not give him any attention for the next fifteen minutes.
The slow song fills his living room, as he watches her introduction. Theyâre all snippets of todayâs vlog, since he has never seen the footage before. Seeing her smiling in the camera, makes his heart flutter.
He feels like a teenager again, with the way he has this permanent grin plastered on his face, every time she posts things and he watches the entire video.
âItâs the first of July,â Sandy says, as she is sitting in front of her mirror, trying to fix her hair. Her make-up is all set and done. Itâs very minimal, like usual, but with a brighter pink lipstick. âAnd that means in three days itâs the Fourth of July and I wonât be spending it in LA.â
Henry looks at his phone, to see that this was filmed two days ago. With the lighting speed she edits, he often wonders if she has some sort of magic powers.
âItâs pretty weird actually,â Sandy continues, ânot to spend time with family on the Fourth. I moved here about seven months ago and ever since I stepped a foot in London, my parents have been sending me some serious threats about how I should fly back to LA on the Fourth of July. My birthday, Thanksgiving, they donât care about that, weirdly enough.â
Henry lives in London, but he has yet to bump into her. He recognizes the places she visits and when he visits them, he never sees her, though he keeps his eyes out, praying for her to be there. God, he wishes he would just bump into her, though he has no idea what to say to her. Hi there, Iâm Henry Cavill and Iâm obsessed with your videos? Heâll probably scare her away.
He watches the entire vlog intently, as Sandy is taking the viewers with her for a stroll in the park, a nice cafe that he now wants to visit and eventually she goes to the dance studio.
She is a great dancer and he sometimes wonders why sheâs not doing anything with it. The way she moves her slender body and knows how to control it, is absolutely mesmerizing. She posted a few dance covers on her channel, but sheâs always alone. Never dancing with someone. He wonders if she comes up with these dances herself, whether or not she is free styling.
The video is almost over, yet he doesnât want it to be over. She could make vlogs that are twenty four hours long, and he would watch it in one sitting. Sheâs crouched down in front of the camera, still in the dance studio, while she pulls out her hair tie, letting her long dark brown locks fall over her shoulders. âSo,â she says with a soft smile, âIâm sorry today was a pretty boring day. Itâs just that I have been spending so much time editing my newest novel, that I just couldnât read the last two chapters anymore, so Iâll be doing that tomorrow or later this week. I work ahead of schedule anyway, so I have some leverage. I just wanted to get a nice and quiet day in, so Iâm going home now and maybe rewatch something on Netflix. Iâm not in the mood for something new, since I have to focus on understanding the story, you know, so I think the Witcher will do for now. Havenât had my fair share of Henry Cavill today.â
Henry canât seem to focus on the last part of the vlog, where she wishes everyone a good day and the outro starts. She is going to rewatch the Witcher? Meaning, she has already watched it? She hasnât had her fair share of him today?
What does that even mean?
And the way she said his name, he is going to die if he would rewatch that part.
Someone calls him and he picks up without looking. âYeah?â he says when he answers the phone, still living a bit on cloud nine.
âFor the love of God, man, youâre getting more and more impersonal every time I call,â he hears his friend Jackson say from the other end of the line. âWhere the fuck are you, man? We were supposed to meet each other like five minutes ago.â
Henry jumps up from his couch. âCrap, I forgot.â
âFigured.â
âIâll be there in a second.â He storms to the hallway, to find his running shoes, but he has to walk upstairs for them.
âYouâre always on time. What happened today?â
âI was watching something.â
Jackson starts to laugh from the other side of the line. âLet me guess: a certain someone uploaded her newest vlog? Does her name start with an S and end with andy Choi?â
âVery funny.â Jackson was never supposed to find out about this guilty pleasure of his, but somehow Jackson did find out, like he always does. Sometimes Henry hates his friend, since he can read him way too well and pesters him afterwards.
âWell, hope it was worth it,â Jackson says. Henry can hear the smile in his voice and that means that he is going to mention this during their entire run.
Henry rushes outside after he slipped on his running shoes. âIt was totally worth it,â he says. Knowing heâll tell Jackson anyways, he adds: âShe said my name, you know.â
âShut up.â
âIâm not,â Henry says with a smile.
âShe honest to God said your name?â
âYeah and she is rewatching the Witcher.â Henry canât seem to get the permanent grin off his face. He hears her say it over and over in his head, visualizing it with the lovely smile on her face.
âYou need to fucking grow some balls, follow her on Instagram and slide into her DMâs. Everyone does that nowadays.â
âIâm not going to do that.â
âNo, what you are going to do is bother me with questions like: âWhy is she so pretty?â and âWhen am I going to run into her?â. Like I can answer those. Itâs obvious that she is simply rewatching the Witcher because of the way you look. Everyone on earth is into you, why wouldnât she?â
Henry clears his throat, before he says: âSee you in three minutes.â
