Veritas Ratio respects you as a friend and as a colleague of a scientist with whom he has known for a long time, but sometimes Ratio cannot understand why at some point you behave like a smart and educated person, and then you approach to him during lunch and show him a toy that you say looks like him! This purple angry cat. But the moment his book almost touches your head, you realize that he is still the same.

A small smile formed on his frowning face at the sight of your beaming smile. It turns out that sometimes it's nice to be an idiot.

I don't think a lot of people realize that lot of their advice to disabled people often boils down to "Get over it." they are trying to be helpful but their idea of helpful is "Just do the thing" because that's what they do. for them they just do things. It comes naturally to just do it.

They don't know how to bridge the gap between you and the task. For them the bridge is already pre-built and stable. For disabled people the bridge is run down, not well kept, it feels unsteady and is hard to get across without being slow and cautious - hell for some people there is no bridge and we need to build it ourselves but we don't have the bridge building tools and no one gives them to us.

"Just cross the bridge." They say before walking over their pre-built bridge. They never gave you the tools to build a bridge to cross.

Like, completely disregarding that it is actively ignoring the text even in StB there (and that he consistently wants the WoL especially to live), he, uh, is written as having a desire for more the opposite to happen. Very, very consistently. His drive to live is solely linked to brief moments of pleasure-from-struggle and when that drops he explicitly wants to die so he can preserve the moment (and like. *looks at the end of 6.0* if he wanted to kill the WoL he would not be disappointed when they fall before the game allows it, nor would they have lived after given his will was strong enough to bring them back if they bite it). He wants struggle and lacks the ability to give enough of a shit to hold back if someone walks up and says they're going to go for his head.

Like, death is a side effect of what he's after, it's not the goal and he explicitly considers it a waste of life. Even fighting isn't the goal, the goal is to struggle, to need to put effort in. The WoL is just the only person to put him in that state as he currently is, hence his obsession.

something i noticed when watching pogtopia is that wilbur actually always had food on him and was always eating and keeping his hunger up even when he was hardly low enough to need it and it was such an interesting thing to see from someone so obviously suicidal and mentally all over the place and pointedly doing everything he could to make his and his loved ones lives as miserable as possible. but then i realized, that’s just it, it wasn’t about living it was about survival because wilbur was determined to survive for as long as it took to make his death fucking incredible, his end explosive and meaningful, and making sure a few potatoes were in his pocket and mouth at all times was more than a fair trade to get that ending.

it's not because jack cares about family less. it's because jack never had to worry about that, or even consider it in his priorities. jack never had to prioritize essentials first and luxuries later. he's not a big spender, but that's a personality trait, not a conscious thought.

jack and bitty won't be arguing about income because they're both going to contribute equally at different points of their marriage, but they probably are going to argue about how to spend that money, and the fine balance between being too mindless and being too careful.
