god I'm literally just so stupid. I can't think the way you have to think to write a scientific paper. I can't. I try and I try and it just does not work. I can't do this.

Day 15
“Tatsumi-senpai, have you ever kissed anyone?” Kaname asked, sitting across from the other boy in the catacombs. Everyone else had left for the night leaving the two of them alone.
“Why are you asking?” Tatsumi replied, confused as he moved one of his chess pieces on the board. Kaname didn’t know anything about how the game worked and was mostly just guessing at where the pieces moved.
“A-ah it’s nothing, I was just wondering…I haven’t kissed anyone.” Kaname could feel his face heating up. God this was embarrassing, why was he doing this?
“I haven’t kissed anyone either.” Their game of chess forgotten for the moment. Kaname’s face burned even hotter.
“Would you--would you like to try kissing?” He barely squeaked out. How was the great Kaname Tojou such a loser when it came to his crush? He should be confident and yet here he was.
“Can you repeat that, Kaname-san?” He loved the way his name sounded in Tatsumi’s voice. It made him want to die in the moment though.
“Can I--Can we try…kissing?” His voice was still soft but evidently loud enough for Tatsumi to hear if the slight blush on his face was evidence of anything. Tatsumi gently moved their chess board to the side and slid closer to Kaname. Kaname felt his heart rate pick up at the proximity as Tatsumi leaned in closer.
How was he supposed to kiss? He tried to remember the movies and how they did it, closing his eyes and letting Tatsumi guide him, his lips slightly parted. The moment Tatsumi’s lips touched his he thought he would fly, and evidently his mouth moved before he could think, as Tatsumi let out a yelp and brought a hand to his lips.
Kaname bit him. Oh how embarrassing! It wasn’t enough to draw blood but still!
“I’m so sorry Tatsumi-senpai! I didn’t mean to do that! Oh god--”
Tatsumi laughed. Kaname stopped in his tracks as Tatsumi continued laughing. He wasn’t laughing at Kaname, though, or at least not at Kaname as a person, but rather at his reaction to the whole thing.
“It’s okay, Kaname-san. We can try again if you’d like.”
“Y-yes I’d like that very much.”
They leaned in again and Kaname clenched his jaw to keep himself from biting Tatsumi again, but he got a little overeager again and felt their heads bump into each other and not where their lips were (which was where he was aiming for). Kaname curses under his breath but Tatsumi giggles again (a heavenly sound to Kaname’s ears) and cups his face before gently guiding him to Tatsumi’s lips.
Kaname was too in shock to do anything for a moment. He was kissing someone. And not just someone. He was kissing Tatsumi Kazehaya, heartthrob of Reimei Academy. He closed his eyes and relaxed, reaching to grab Tatsumi’s blazer and pull him closer. He felt their teeth clack together but it wasn’t as bad as their first attempt and for Kaname, that was enough.
They pulled away, panting heavily, and Kaname noticed that Tatsumi’s pupils had dilated. He wanted to pull Tatsumi in for another kiss but held himself back, at least for a moment.
“That wasn’t so bad,” Tatsumi spoke, breathless and full of affection.
“No, it wasn’t.” Kaname pulled Tatsumi back in for another kiss, narrowly avoiding bumping their heads together again. He could do this forever, just him and Tatsumi in the catacombs, kissing to their hearts content.

He lives in Amity Park. Just one of seventy thousand people making a living under the shield.
He makes a modest salary working at a garage. There's a handful of cars per day, coming in for oil changes or tune-ups, and the work is divided between him and two coworkers.
He considers himself to be pretty average. One face lost within a sea of thousands. Unnoticed and unmemorable.
He doesn't mind. He's a pretty bland person overall. He doesn't do much other than work, eat, watch whatever's showing on TV when he's at his small apartment, and sleep; and he doesn't feel he needs more from life than that.
He moved to Amity Park a few years ago, after wandering from place to place.
The ghost thing was new to him. He can't remember seeing a ghost until after moving here. And when the purpose of the shield was explained to him, he couldn't imagine ghosts beyond a vague idea. They were said to be slightly translucent and able to fly. And, in Amity Park, ghosts are just another part of their way of life. A normal sight to see. Especially Phantom.
Even now he can't build a clear mental image or description when it comes to ghosts. He never had a chance to really take one in.
Every time he sees Phantom, his mind goes blank, in pure terror.
Even on the other side of the shield, high in the sky 500 feet away, barely even close enough to make out the cape and suit, the ghost would cause him to freeze in place on the sidewalk, forgetting how to breathe while people push past him to continue on their way.
---
He's at the garage when the sirens come on. In an oil-stained jumpsuit, on his back beneath a car.
At first he's confused, cocking his head to listen, but someone yells that it's the shield.
He should've recognized the sound. There's a drill twice a year. Somewhat of a holiday. The entire town meets up in the shelters under the city. But the timing is off. Wrong month, wrong day, wrong time. For one thing, there is no work on Drill Day. So he didn't make the connection at first.
He puts his wrench down and follows the others out of the garage.
When he steps through the door, he sees Phantom in the distance, throwing parked cars, and he freezes as the others run.
It gets hard to breathe. He can't get enough air. His vision zeroes in on Phantom, the rest of the world vanishing. His heart pounds in his chest like it's trying to free itself. Phantom is coming nearer. He feels dizzy. His head is swimming. He... he has to sit... His knees hit the asphalt. His palms keep him from falling, his eyes never leave Phantom. The ghost comes nearer, casually, meanderingly, blasting random objects. As near as three businesses down. Two. Phantom turns and blows up the building across the street.
Phantom turns back around. Eyes focused overhead, at the garage building. A giddy-looking grin. Then the eyes drift downward.
They lock on him.
"What do we have here? A flea that forgot how to scurry away?"
He shudders at the sound of the voice. Trembles as Phantom floats nearer. He cringes on the ground, seeing his death mere feet away. Stares wide-eyed.
Phantom's grin fades, eyebrows furrowing as eyes study his face. Then, "You?" The eyes narrow, a sneer crossing the face. "I should have finished you."
He shrinks back as Phantom reaches for him. Squeezes his eyes tightly shut. Death. Death.
But instead, a strong hand grips his upper arm—and something seems to light up behind his eyes.
Memories flow through him like water.
A sister. Spinning on her heel with long orange hair flying, a superior, righteous expression as she says something.
Parents. Both wearing tight jumpsuits, excited, building a deadly weapon at the dinner table while asking about school.
Friends. One in black and one with glasses, putting a finger to their earpieces as they talk over each other making suggestions.
...Himself.
Tiredly brushing long black bangs out of his eyes as he reaches for a toothbrush. Lying on his back looking up at the stars. Observing a translucent, slightly glowing gloved hand, wiggling the fingers.
He exhales with a hiss. And snaps his eyes open to glare at Phantom. "You!" He jerks back, breaking Phantom's grip on his arm.
He was robbed of ten years of his life. Of who he is. He lived through ten years not realizing what was going on around him. Accepting the shield and the destruction as normal! And it was a part of himself doing all of this! Making the shield necessary! Out having a joyride at everyone's expense!
He's so angry. Furious.
He can feel his eyes light up for a split second, and a flash of green sparking in his palms. "I'll destroy you!"
He doesn't run for the emergency ecto-gun in the garage.
He lunges at Phantom with his bare hands, palms repeatedly trying to glow, sparking for only an instant at a time, like an igniter without fuel to back it up.

Just had a reverse “you think about your old writing through rose-colored glasses but when you go back to read it it’s kind of terrible” moment, I went back and read some of my pre-uni/pandemic writing fully expecting it to be terrible and was like “oh this is…pretty good actually?”

shaun and habit for the ship game??
Tumblr media
nowadays the only circumstance where i "ship it" is the idea that habit might try to do something like this as a way to manipulate shaun and turn her against her brother(s)
i think habit could maybe be fucked up enough to treat someone desperate to be loved again (shaun had just lost her partner) with affection, just to reach its own goals ie killing patrick, and i think shaun could be in a bad enough mental state to kinda just allow it and cling to anyone who supposedly loves her. habit would probably try to mold her and get her desensitized to hurting other people. whether habit does actually love her to some degree is up for debate. i think once it tried to fully turn shaun against her siblings, she would end up snapping out of it and running away, or possibly being straight-up rescued/someone helping her escape (i have my own take on how it'd happen, but this answer is already very long)
it's not a wholesome thing to me. it's horrible, but it IS interesting to explore, because it can create a good story/narrative. in terms of what's healthy for her though, i ship shaun x getting the fuck away from that thang. i'm much more interested in the aftermath and recovery of it from shaun's end than i'm actually interested in the pairing itself, tbh

Nah kill Endeavor midway and introduce new hero to take his role as the hero with new relevant story as No 1 like happened with Hawks and last minute additions like Star Stripe. Because Endeavor remains the only morally bad hero who is an example of what hero should not do in personal life using his job as a cover as Stain warned. His treatment of Inasa, taking on petty cases to increase numbers and being dumber than Iida who cracked the pattern faster magnified his behaviour as a shoddy hero driven by envy and prejudice and personal desires and not enough to call it justice as the subjective praisevsays about his heroics by people who have a personal reason to believe he was good as a hero and not disbelive it even in face of proof. His atonement didn't actually have narrative significance in the end either. If he was pulled out of their story, already Deku then Shoto then self-effort from hidden strength from hope due to Shoto alone was enough. He couldn't give them any actual closure or help. Endeavor in short had little to no big role other than being the cause of this apocalypse from a single video because he took the No 1 spot by default despite being wrong for it. The effect of the video was more positive in the long run by freeing them and making their stories valid by Endeavor's televised confession than how bad Toga or Gentle's families had it from being associated while Shoto seem happier having shared with all. They are also valid for unconditionally loving their son instead of being conflicted by his crimes which is Endeavor's fault to them as Shoto's thoughts went. Overall Endeavor's role is simply as the abuser who prevents his victims from taking heat and criticism from his fans by confessing because they all push him including Hawks and it is possible because the hero association are dead and won't issue a cover up to protect their overall image. But this confession could still be exposed in other ways using new characters or existing information technology known with Garaki Kyuudai had Hori wanted while keeping Endeavor bad which would have resulted in a better catharsis than leaving him sticking on to his victims.
Ok so another long break down.
Killing Enji this way only works if the story becomes fully about Hero corruption, which it just isn't. All of the Heroes which had questionable attitudes toward Heroics changed their ways, or besides Enji just weren't that bad to begin with. Even if we leave Enji as a truly bad guy, he's one out dozens we see who are all good, so it doesn't even help prove the corruption angle much. Could this work--sure, but it'd change the story and it's themes drastically from what Hori's intentions seem to be--at that point it's not even his story.
On top of that we get no evidence Enji is using his job as a Hero as cover. Nor did Stain ever say anything about Heroes using their job to hide actual crimes. I love the guy, but all he cared about was people being Heroes that weren't 100% selfless. On top of that he just didn't even seem to check the Heroes he hunted out first, since we have no evidence Tensei was anything other then a great Hero who cared a lot about saving people. Stain didn't know about Enji's abuse and just hated him because he wasn't All Might.
But Enji did crack Stain's pattern--that's why he and Shoto we in the city at all that night. He tells Shoto about it when they leave for Hosu. Shoto even says he only picks Enji's agency because he's a great at his job and despite his hate for him at that point, it'd be stupid to turn down learning from one of the best in the industry.
Enji never shows prejudice in the manga. The spin off made him OOC so he could function as a side antagonist for the later arc in the story, but in the main story he never acts that way. No, he was never great to fans because having fans was never his reason for being a Hero and he didn't understand how important it was to inspire people until he became #1.
I assume what you mean by disbelieving proof, you're talking about Touya's video during the first War. Honestly, people not believing Touya makes perfect sense in context. Enji was never super popular, but when a villain who has killed multiple people and is currently responsible for a major terrorist attack effecting dozens cities suddenly releases a video saying "Hey, this guy trying to stop me from killing everyone is actually bad, trust me, and therefore you should hate everyone who has the same job." it is hard to believe. Plus, people did did believe it, they just were more concerned about Enji failing to stop a massive terrorist attack that probably resulted in hundreds of casualties and displaced thousands of people, then the fact he abused his family--something that in the moment is nothing compared to all the lives lost.
Endeavor in short had little to no big role other than being the cause of this apocalypse from a single video because he took the No 1 spot by default despite being wrong for it.
Enji didn't cause the apocalypse, Shigaraki and the LoV did. Sure, Touya's video didn't help, but because it came out after most of the major damage was done it didn't have as much effect as it could have had if it had been released right after Enji got the #1 spot. People would have been angry at the Heroes and Enji anyway because so many people died and the LoV wasn't captured.
The effect of the video was more positive in the long run by freeing them and making their stories valid by Endeavor's televised confession than how bad Toga or Gentle's families had it from being associated while Shoto seem happier having shared with all.
We don't actually see the family show any positive emotions toward the video. In fact we see them having to hide from the public because they're now blamed for Touya's murders. Shoto can't even go and be with his friends when Izuku walks into U.A, and instead has to hang back with Enji who, I assume had to go in a back way due to all of the hate they were getting because of Touya's video. Shoto might not be upset with his friends knowing, but he was never super quite about his abuse either, given he spilled the beans to Izuku as quick as possible during the sports festival. We don't see if the rest of the family feels similarly at all.
They are also valid for unconditionally loving their son instead of being conflicted by his crimes which is Endeavor's fault to them as Shoto's thoughts went.
But they don't see Touya's crimes as Dabi as 100% Enji's fault. Shoto tells him it was wrong of him to involve other people. Natsuo tells him to stop and that he's being an idiot big brother. Fuyumi just doesn't want him to kill their mom and dad. Even when Shoto thinks "he is me" that implies he does consider Touya's actions his own, since Shoto always held himself responsible for his own poor choices, like being rude to Inasa. Just because they still love Touya doesn't mean they don't hold him responsible for his actions. Enji is at fault, yes, but at the end of the day Touya still decided to murder random people to fulfill his own plans of revenge.
Overall Endeavor's role is simply as the abuser who prevents his victims from taking heat and criticism from his fans by confessing because they all push him including Hawks and it is possible because the hero association are dead and won't issue a cover up to protect their overall image.
The family isn't getting shit on by Enji's fans though, nor does Enji admitting the video is true suddenly make people 100% fine with the other Todoroki's. People didn't hate on the family because they saw them as lying about the abuse because they love Enji to much--they were mad because they view them as extensions of Touya, who killed their loved ones and destroyed their homes. They also don't have to push Enji to do the press conference or admit his abuse. They push him to stay a Hero and help them stop/save Touya. That's why even after he admits to the abuse, Shoto is still shunned.
We also have zero evidence to suggest the Hero Commission ever covered up the abuse. Especially since Shoto has no problem telling Izuku about it.
But this confession could still be exposed in other ways using new characters or existing information technology known with Garaki Kyuudai had Hori wanted while keeping Endeavor bad which would have resulted in a better catharsis than leaving him sticking on to his victims.
Again, this only works if you fundamentally change the story Hori is trying to tell. He wants Enji to change and be a better person. You can not agree with that choice, but if we're taking about stuff an author could have done better you have to try and stick to what they want the story to be. We still don't know 100% what Hori is trying to say because the ending hasn't come out yet, but so far Enji atoning seems to be a big part of the overall message of the story. If that is the case you have to try and find fixes that stick with that vision, otherwise you're just writing your own story, not just making editing suggestions to make the current work better.

Verse - Naruto
Tumblr media
Name: Hikari Yuki Hara
Affinity: Ice Release (kekkei genkai), Water Release, Wind Release
Affiliation: Kirigakure (Village Hidden in the Mist)
Hikari was born in the Mist Village during a time where those with Kekkei Genkai were still looked down upon. Her mother was a traditional dance artist after retiring from a life as a kunoichi, while her father worked as a high ranking hunter-nin, tracking down many of the village's missing-nins and carrying out assassinations.
Their family kept their clan lineage a secret, masquerading with a differing last name to protect themselves. Hikari's mother, Ayako, forbade Hikari from becoming a kunoichi herself, trying to goad her daughter into following her footsteps. Ayako had always kept her ice release under wraps, only utilizing her wind and water releases. Hikari wasn't keen on following Ayako's wishes, however.
When Hikari was only 6, her father was killed in action during an assassination attempt on one of the village's defectors. This only ramped up Ayako's controlling further. Hikari had to practically sneak off as far as enrolling in schooling went.
The training at Kirigakure's Academy was much more brutal and thorough than the other schools seen in other villages. When Hikari touched chakra paper for the first time, it did not damper nor slice in half. It froze solid, and she became an immediate target.
Ayako was livid when she learned of her daughter's antics, though a deal was struck between her and the Mizukage of the village. Hikari happened to be a perfect vessel for harboring a shinigami. In exchange for immunity, Ayako gave Hikari away.
Hikari was still young, no older than 8, but her body was able to withstand the sealing process. They sealed a fearsome shinigami known as Giratina within her, preventing the demon from wrecking further havoc in the world, and thus gaining a new piece of power for their village as well.
They fortunately allowed Hikari to return to the academy, resuming her brutal training. She excelled in ninjutsu, along with kenjutsu - a common, more advanced technique taught in their academy compared to the other academies in the other villages. She refrained from using her ice release around others, taking to doing so in private.
Hikari's relationship with her mother was effectively destroyed after she gave up her daughter. She was infrequently home, avoiding the place as much as possible. Ayako was still furious at her daughter's enrollment in the academy.
For Hikari's age, she became a prodigy at Kirigakure's school. Her ninjutsu skills were leaps ahead of everyone else in her class, as was her kenjutsu and chakra control. The shinigami within her, however, wasn't agreeable to Hikari. It was difficult to control Giratina at times, and one such time Hikari lost control was during the academy's chunin exams.
She lost control over herself and wreaked havoc on her opponent in the finals, bloodying them and nearly beating them to death with raw strength alone. It took several jonin to pull her off her foe, restraining her with seals and a formidable barrier. When Hikari came to, she had no recollection or memory of what took place.
The Yuki clan had always been a cursed clan, after all.
The higherups of Kirigakure were quick to cover up the incident, not wanting to have another graduation similar to what they had seen with Zabuza. Those in the stands were put to sleep with a genjutsu, and had their memories of the incident erased and replaced. The student in question also had their memories changed after their recovery. Instead of memories of Hikari beating them nearly to death, they simply had put a memory into them of being knocked out.
After the exams, Hikari was removed from her squad. They feared she would lose control and hurt them, and so she was forced to do her missions solo. With her prowess, it wasn't a big deal, but she missed the camaraderie of her team.
She wasn't kicked out of Kirigakure, though she was intentionally sent on much more difficult missions - be it the fact she could handle them, or they secretly wanted her to be killed in action was unknown at the time. To their surprise, she handled these missions in stride.
In the span of a few years following the exams, she went from a liability to an important asset of the village. There were a few times on A and S-rank missions where she did lose control, as she had in the past. The village turned a blind eye to this, as no witnesses were ever left, and it didn't happen within the confines of Kirigakure. It wasn't their problem.
When Hikari was just 15, she was granted the rank of jonin. They were wary of letting her have her own squadron, however, and continued to have her carry out missions for the village on her own. The missions only grew tougher, causing her to be away from Kirigakure for longer periods of time. This was still fine by her, as she would readily jump at any chance to be away from her mother. Hikari had only seen her a handful of times since she became a chunin, and she was glad for it.
During her missions, she would visit many different villages and meet many different people. Hikari found she enjoyed traveling, feeling free to do what she wanted more or less. It was only when the Akatsuki began cropping up that she realized there may be a problem. Losing control became a much more dangerous idea, not wanting the information of her harboring a shinigami falling into the wrong hands.
At age 17, Hikari was brought into the ranks of Kirigakure's hunter-nin's. The influx of corruption under the Fourth Mizukage was immense, and the village had numerous defectors. She was tasked with assassinations, hunting down defectors as they were a threat to the village's security and held many secrets about Kirigakure.
As it stands currently years later, Hikari is still part of Kirigakure's hunter-nins. Despite the way the village has treated her, she still has a deep loyalty to Kirigakure. She carries out normal missions too, still forced to work alone. She still grapples to keep Giratina under control and to reach a mutual understanding with the demon.
Other Info:
Hikari wears her headband around her right upper arm.
She wields a sword that she often imbues with wind chakra, making it very sharp and deadly. Though the legendary seven swords of the mist have fallen nearly out of Kirigakure's control due to defectors, Hikari has a goal to find and obtain at least one of them for herself. When she isn't on any missions, she travels still in order to seek out these swords.
With Kirigakure's overall view towards those with kekkei genkai improving, Hikari tends to keep her lineage under wraps when in the village. In other villages, she doesn't keep it much of a secret at all.
She hasn't spoken to her mother in many, many years. Hikari has gotten herself a home in Kirigakure that's very far from where Ayako's home is situated.

#[ ooc || out of control ]#ive honestly never really thought much about nnoitras scar except for the physical consequences of the injury#so that was a really good thought and writing exercise. I might change my mind with some more thought on it but for now im happy with this#as with all things its somewhat of a complicated manner#theres the emotional injury (which grimmjow is ignoring) which adds so much weight to the scar#it just feels like such a mark of failure#it was so inconsequential to nnoitra. he did the damage with such ease#grimmjow has always ALWAYS felt like such a small fish in a large pond and i think his fight with ichigo was meant to finally allow him to#grow out of that self defeating self destructive and beastial mentality (which wa representative of the general hollow pov & not exclusive#to just grimmjow himself ) and then nnoitra comes in and immediately denies him (and HM) that growth#like from a literary analysis point of view the lesson (which i believe is quite in line with nnoitras general hollow mantra) is that growt#for hollows is impossible#and should be denied and rejected at every turn becasue there is no HOPE for them there is no FUTURE in which they will be accepted#the best and only thing a hollow can do is Die. And Grimmjow should have taken the opportunity to die on a shinigami blade#at least then the would reincarnate. but no he was stubborn and tried to take more than the desert owed him an nnoitra would be his reminde#its a confusianist perspective that seems a little at odds with Nnoitras general symbolism? but simultaneously aligns with Aizens and the#overarching theme of the espada in general (which i dont personally believe was intentional on Kubos part but maybe?)#idk i guess i have more to say but its not quite a fully formed thought

Today I was invited to the table of the game of life. Everyone here is playing their cards, some are playing Magic, others Pokemon, some Yugioh, some playing cards, and even one guy over there has been playing Baseball cards I think, but as absurd as this game looks, they all appear to be building to a greater image.
The call me to the table to add to the game.
I walk up and pull out my deck of one, singular Skip Uno card. I sit down and shout Uno and play my Skip Uno card. I have won.
The table looks at me - paused in bafflement; a silent stare of bewilderment
They tell me that is not how this game of life works. We each create combos, chains, strategies and skills and build this massive play to form a much greater game.
They tell me that there isn't any winning in this game of life; they tell me that I need to bring more cards to the table, draw some more and join in on creating chained webs and supportive suggestions.
I tell them this is all that I have, there is nothing more to how my plays work other than this singular Skip Uno Card. I play Uno, the only function of Uno is to remove your cards. There is a limited amount of chain and skillful strategy that can be played in the traditional game of Uno; even less when your entire deck is empty and all you have is a singular card.
We have an issue. My game doesn't work at this table. We are incompatible, my deck simply doesn't work with the nature of this collaborative game.
I turn to the ref, solutions my good man. I can't fix my deck, I can't generate new cards. I can't make a play other than Skip Uno, what can anyone ask of me.
The ref checks the book, he checks the rules; he looks up and with a quizzical suggestion, asks if I could ask for someone else's cards
I say no, I don't have a card for that, all I have is a single Skip Uno Card. I do not have a Draw 4 or Draw 2. I only have Skip Uno.
He looks at me. He turns to the other players. He whispers in their ears as they chatter among one another. They each pull from their decks, donating one card each and collecting them into a stack.
They hand me the deck. In it, a Preordain, a holographic Charizard, a single piece of Exodia, a four of spades, and Babe Ruth. These cards now sit around my single Skip Uno card.
I turn to the ref, raising an eyebrow at this strange deck built before me; uncertain if this solution would work, if these cards could even possibly be played at this table.
Even so, new options have been placed in my hand. The bizarre game resumes. I play the four of spades.
The turn roles by.
