hey guys I just connected some dots and when I say to you that we owe every 5sos gf since 2011 so much better treatment that doesn’t even cover half of it. it’s one thing to empathise over the internet sure but when it’s a real person less than 2 degrees of separation from you it feels so much more like. this is a human who deserves to be adored and celebrated just as much as a man she’s associated with and it’s like. I know I can’t gift anyone else the experience of empathy in like being a local or whatever but when I tell you that this fandom has inadvertently done so much damage to not only women who happened to know the boys but also to their professional careers and music and things they choose to share with us (or stop sharing with us) please believe me and please join the conversation around the fact that yes we’ve done a really shitty job in the past. but we’re growing up and we can do better I believe that 100%
i rly do think there is a line between being critical of saudi, their involvement in football, where all the money is coming from, the millions of human rights violations that the government perpetuates and covers up via sportwashing … and then just straight up dunking on football cultures outside of europe (specifically england/germany/italy) and acting like the fans there are inferior in some way (even if they are smaller in number that does not mean that the football being played is worth any less) and implying consciously or subconsciously that the footballers who grew up in the system there don’t deserve to play football. i’ll be honest, way too many ppl cross the line.
i’ve been thinking about that name one thing you do for fun besides media consumption tiktok and yeah it’s humbling but it also brings the topic of wealth and privilege to the conversation because yes, in most cases in order to have a hobby you need money and spare time. like i’ve graduated from music school but i haven’t played in years even though i miss it like a lung because i just don’t have the kind of money you need to buy a harp. doing any sort of physical art also requires equipment and art supplies, which also tend to be expensive, and even if you use the cheap ones it eventually adds up. if you want to do pottery you have to pay monthly membership for a studio or a course, and if you don’t want that you could always buy very expensive tools. if you want to go to dance classes or cooking lessons they also cost, and you probably have to invest in better quality equipment at some point, and yeah you could go on hikes for free sure but only if you live in a certain type of area. or you could write but not everyone’s talented or even want to write do you see what i’m trying to say yeah it probably feels good to know that you’re doing something creative and make a point of it but have you considered that a lot of people don’t have the means to and that it isn’t necessarily out of sheer laziness it’s just the reality of late stage capitalism
irony: when your girlfriend asks the people at [redacted american airport] how they know which bags to put on the plane when you transfer flights because she thinks it’ll be her bag they lose. you tease her for her silly question. wohohoho honey
