how do you go about drawing the heftier skeleton body types so nicely? i want to draw bigger skellies but im not sure how to go about it!
I'm so sorry this is a bit late, but I hope it still helps in some way!
I heavily focus on the shapes as a foundation for my boys. I reference a lot of body types and anatomy! If you're looking to draw bigger skellies, I recommend finding a body type you like and studying what defines it; it doesn't have to be realistic (that can be a bit overwhelming) but finding a style you like and learning that way is much easier and is a simpler form.
For me, I like wide shoulders and large, comfy bellies--aka, the wonderful dad bod <3. So that' where my major shapes will be defined; I like to focus on points like the collar bone to help me build on the ribcages, and if I draw ecto, that tells me where the pecs should be, abdominal "muscles" and other lovable folds!
Most of the time, my guys are clothed, so I don't have to worry about bones. ;3
Everyone's interpretation for skellies is different, but the one thing that is universal, imo, is the use of shapes! That's where you want to start off and know that I'm encouraging you and rooting for you! <3

I just recently started following you so i don't have the full lore of your murderous gay religiously traumatized doggos, BUT, from my understanding, they are Italian and i don't know what part of Italy they are from, yet i can't help headcanoning Vasco as Tuscan, while Machete is probably from some part of Veneto. And as an Italian who has heard Tuscans and Veneto dialet, well it's an hilarious mental image.
Vasco is indeed Tuscan, Florentine to be specific. He comes from a wealthy and influential noble family that has lived in Florence for centuries. He's proud of his roots, and it's usually easy for strangers to tell where he's from. He's a resonably successful politician and has worked as an ambassador and representative of Florence on numerous occasions.
Machete is originally Sicilian (ironically about as far from Veneto as possible), although he was taken to mainland at young age and has lived in several places since then, before ending up in Rome. The way I see it, he exhibits very little local color, his demeanor and (even though Italian hadn't become a standardized language yet) way of speaking are formal, neutral and scarcely give away any hints about his personal history, at least in the 16th century canon.

on the missa thing can i also say??? philza also calls HIMSELF weak and stupid at all times, and we see crows fighting that because they know he has a very biased POV (same as when he praises others by putting himself down), but somehow when it's about missa then non-hispanic crows take it at face value????
and also, sometimes when phil mentions it, to me, it feels more of a "fuck he doesnt have the shit needed to deal with how OP some of the mobs are here, he needs help" which is just. objectively true? not necessarily calling missa weak, just that, in the scheme of everything as the island works rn, if you dont have equipment of a specific level or type, you get popped by any mob around, and since missa isnt around much, he doesnt have those types of equipment

it's so funny (read: sad) that if bigoted fuckheads didn't insist i was a woman simply by virtue of my body at birth, i'd probably be chill with she/her pronouns in addition to he/they. if my mom didn't insist i was her daughter, i'd probably let her call me that, and we could still have a relationship.
i'm nonbinary and 'gendered' words are hypothetically meaningless, but because there are so many people who are more interested in telling me who i am rather than lovingly and curiously letting me express my own sense of self, those words carry trauma.
there's no reason a nonbinary person like myself can't be a son and a child and a daughter. there's no reason a nonbinary person like me can't go by he, they, and she.
'she' is not a slur. 'daughter' is not derogatory. 'beautiful' 'pretty' 'gorgeous' 'feminine' are not insults.
to the contrary, they're parts of language that express certain facets of a multi-faceted human existence, like mine.
and i have this sad, mournful feeling that if it weren't for unloving, condescending people, i'd probably be down to be called any of those things alongside my usual masculine/neutral terminology.
but i'd rather die than let anyone tell me what i have to be called.

What is harm reduction outreach? I saw you mention it in a post.
Sure!
So I do outreach through an org in my city that provides harm reduction services to people who use drugs and sex workers. We have specific areas of the city that we go to on specific days, and also do deliveries. We also do at least one overnight shift a week to be able to better provide services to sex workers. For outreach, we hand out safer use supplies including needles, sharps bins, tourniquets, cookers, sterile water, stems, Narcan, fentanyl test strips, condoms, lube, bad date sheets, wound care supplies, food, water, etc. We also try to help provide people referrals to services like HIV and Hep C care, share what resources in the city are trans friendly and how to navigate social services with the least bullshit, and also provide peer support and harm reduction education to help people have all the information they need to make choices, and help reduce risk.
It's really important to us that we are not acting like exploitative nonprofits that come in, hoard resources, and expect people to be grateful. outreach is pretty much done entirely by people who are also drug users and sex workers. We are also really involved in local advocacy--we participate in a decriminalization campaign, a drug users union, and a sex work advocacy coalition. and i think nonprofits and government attempts to coopt harm reduction are so fucked up and actively harmful--you can't do harm reduction without also fighting to abolish the oppressive systems that are targeting drug users and sex workers. we have a lot of ties to the community that we're doing harm reduction in--for most of us it just is our community + neighborhoods lmao, and we make sure that we're always getting feedback, respecting autonomy and consent, and building mutual relationships. we've been around for a while and do have a lot of community trust, but we always want to be making sure we're respecting what people want and need instead of coming in with ideas about what services + supplies they want.
anyway. harm reduction is so fucking important to me and it's not just like, something i do to like, build my resume or to try to "save people." i'm a former sex worker and when i first started doing sex work, i didn't have any information, community, or access to anything that would have helped me to be able to work safer. it fucked me up pretty bad and i survived a lot of violence. i wish so fucking badly i had all those things, and it's super important to me to try to build community, care for each other, resist fucked up systems and protect each other.

Hear me out. Sally x Amy. Sally seems like she needs someone loyal and committed, and Amy MORE than delivers that. They both share this kind of can-do sensibility as well. And I feel like Sally can help keep Amy's temper in check with her reasonable attitude.

So I saw this show I used to watch as a kid on a streaming service, Hoarders, and it's about, as you'd assume, people who compulsively hoard.
When I watched that show as a kid, I remember how you were invited to almost... judge these people, "Oh, how could you live like that?! I'm glad that's not my house..." and I remember this shock factor that sunk you into the episode, at least in the early seasons.
I think it's a product of the attitude we have about these sorts of things. When I look at that now, all I see is trauma, people who are suffering, and then essentially being shamed on television, no less. It just feels like watching somebody at their lowest for an hour, recounting trauma, disability, loss and grief, mental illness, and so many things.

I really needed to read those tags you put on the all three iterations of trigun post. It was like touching grass almost. There really is room for everybody! thanks~
I'm so glad! That post kind of touched a bit on something I've been struggling with in general: the idea that things have to always be in competition with each other.
Like, sure if you DEMANDED I pick a favorite version of Trigun I could, but that feels like a disservice to all three versions! I get something different out of each, and each has their own strengths and weaknesses! How can I be expected to pick a favorite anything when what I get out of different things aren't comparable? 98 has great silly moments, Stampede gives me an animation boner, and TriMax really has changed my brain chemistry. Those summaries are flat and don't begin to cover all the things I like about each! But at the same time I feel a pressure to have a favorite, or that if I have serious criticisms that means I can't love other things about it, or other things I'm having difficulty articulating at the moment!!!
So something I said being almost like touching grass? Great! I want to a a positive force in any community I'm in! Digital space is infinite, there's no reason we should have to compete with each other. There's room for everyone!! Love and peace!!!

schools in the US (at least the ones I attended) present such glowing view of earthworms and people get such a bad impression that they're always good for the environment and it makes me so sad. like. please. why are you teaching that in this state (mn). every earthworm in this state is invasive and some of them are ruining our forest ecosystems but you guys are out here convincing people its okay and even good to release earthworms into the wild. there's basically nothing that can be done about them once they are somewhere so we just need people to stop spreading them. please. why are we teaching the kids earthworms good for environment always. they're gonna pour their parents' extra live bait into the forest floor. their parents think the same thing so they might do it anyway. they are so slow to spread if we don't do it for them.

Adulthood is feverishly researching how slatted frames work at 11pm because you've had back problems for weeks, realising yours is wrong but that you assembled it yourself when you bought it which means that you can reassemble it as you like, then proceeding to do this at 11:30pm (which is past your bedtime), confusing the hell out of your cat but figuring out how to do it efficiently, swapping everything to where it will (hopefully) work for your body - since you've become an expert on slatted frames in the last 30 minutes -, configuring it correctly according to what the internet says you should do for you back problems and putting everything back where it belongs - all so that you can finally have a good night's sleep

Hi kat sorry for the random ask, but how do you get your description to appear centered and aligned? Tumblr's giving me a hard time with allowing any coding in the description 😭😭
hey taha! no worries!
i use <center> & </center> to do that!
idk why tumblr is so ass about coding and doesn't let you do it on the app, but you'll have to add it either on safari/browser on mobile or on the web. no idea why it's so finicky 😒 bhbkjfg
i put it at the beginning and the end of each paragraph i want centered in my bio, for example:
<p><center>「 <b>Kat</b> · adult · she/xe · ♒︎ 」</center>
<br>[ my desc. ]</p>
<p><center>— mobile links —</center></p>
<p>[ my links & credits ]</p>
i hope this makes sense, i don't mind helping if it's giving you a hard time if you need ;w;

@doughcatball This is really making me laugh. I included a screenshot of the part of the vid you're talking abt just for clarity but YEAH LOL that's Kazuma (on the left, with the headband) and Ryunosuke (on the right, looking so scardies). They're two of my favorite characters evar... They're the ones who inspired Kazuki and Blue respectively...! I love Kazuma's hair so I pretty much just stole it for Kazuki's design LOL. Blue's hair is also inspired by Ryunosuke's hair, but I think it's a much less obvious rip off fnejfnsifn
This really made me giggle tho, it's funny to think that someone would see Kazuma and think of my silly shark guy who was inspired by him. It makes me rly rly happy :) I love my funny guys...! so sorry abt the meteor strike and the dying and all that tho o7
