I'm a masochist in the sense that I hate doing my makeup removal (and thankfully being blessed with no ache, just constantly looking like im on the verge of heat stroke or out of an overblush makeup tutorial) I can get away with sleeping in it- but hyper sensitive skin?? Horrible habit.

So I have to decide between putting up with drowning myself like a wet cat enough to look like an one of those 2010s emo crying Pinterest pics or use the one packet of makeup remover wipes that I once tried to throw out but my sister assumed was miscplaced and graciously handelivered back to me like the fucking chucky doll from hell back to haunt me again

it’s really really upsetting actually how little a lot of people seem to care for their health in the bjd eye making world. and other places but this is what i’m thinking about right now. and it’s upsetting how they put out genuinely dangerous tutorials without any warnings and then other people follow them. i didn’t know how toxic resin was until last year and used it inside my bedroom with just the window open many times. because everybody just recommended it. and nobody ever wears gloves. like hey did you know that repeated skin contact with uncured resin will eventually cause a severe allergic reaction. it likely won’t at first but the more you keep doing it the worse it’ll get, and then you’ll never be able to touch resin again. often even cured resin. this Will happen. and did you know that the fumes that come off all types of resin are carcinogens and will seriously fuck you up. and nobody talks about it and just uses it in their homes like “teehee i didn’t use a mask or anything. im so silly” hey you’re going to die. or encourage other people to do the same and they’re going to die. or develop a severe allergy. or use it with their little kids !!! because it’s shown as a fun easy craft activity. can we start taking safety seriously in arts and craft spheres and not just thinking that it won’t get you. because it will get you. piss me off

so i admittedly make gifs in a very slipshod jerry rigged borderline self taught way because im allergic to watching or reading any tutorial for longer than two seconds.

and currently my process for making gifs is importing episodes into after effects, clipping the section i want in the right dimensions + framerate + rendering it out in a series of JPEGs.

i then take those JPEGs and import them into photoshop via load files into stack and make a gif from there.

and all of this works awesome! except for the fact that i have a whole season of episodes in MKV files, and i can't import them into after effects without converting them to MP4 first. i've been converting piecemeal, but converting makes my computer sound like it's going to EXPLODE.

anyway exrtremely long story short does anyone know any ways i can maybe skip the after effects step or streamline the process at all or anything? any help is appreciated!!

speaking about songs right. aku ada buat spotify playlist as a birthday present to my ex. the songs are meant to be songs that i thought of her, and probably some that she might like. the problem is she dont dig what i dig. MY MUSIC TASTE IS NOT HER TASTE! 😭 so the fact that i made a playlist based on what I LIKE instead of what she likes really speaks volumes of that relationship.

i thought it was cute, BUT i failed to notice if she would enjoy it or not. its like surprising someone with a chocolate cake but they are allergic or something. no thoughts, just give. she likes rocks but i tend to lean on pop. she DISLIKES pop 🤦🏻‍♂️

there's also the fact about the FAILED delivery of the gift. im supposed to make an origami of sunflower and put QR code of the playlist on it. but i cant find any decent tutorial for it, so i spend my time trying to INVENT it. a novice, inventing a new origami. WHAT A FCKNG JOKE 🤡. it failed ofc and i passed the date with NO end product. no flower, no qr code, no letter, just a disappointment for everyone. NOT TO MENTION, we also fought around her bday... so its failure ditimpa another failure. a dumpster fire where the dumpster is marinated rotten shrimp in hot sunny SEA weather from kilang cencalok haram and the fire is from lighting due to god's wrath. its probably my fault even lol🙃

moral of the story: gifts should be what the receiver want/need not what we think they will like/need. especially if they have different tastes. thoughts count IF the gift is amazing bombastic

anatomy tips for anon

(someone asked me for this but tumblr ate the ask lol so I’ll just answer it here)

hi anon, I actually really struggle with anatomy so i was kinda surprised to get this ask hdjsksjs but i hope my answer is at least somewhat helpful!

first of all, there are a million methods for drawing a full body. some people like sketching out a skeleton first and building on top of it, some people start with a super loose/flowy general shape of the pose, some people use ovals or 3D boxes or cylinders—i'd recommend looking at various tutorials and trying them out to see what works for you!

unfortunately none of those methods worked very well for me,, i found them kinda cumbersome and counterintuitive so I usually end up just like. going for it lol. I don’t really have a System cause my method is honestly just “try your best, hold back the tears, fix it until it looks as passable as you can get it” DHJSKS but idk maybe it will help you to see my "process" lol

(ok i've never done a speed drawing thing before so i'm about to Expose Myself but im doing this for you anon haha)

(putting the rest under a cut bc it's long, sorry lol)

as u can see, it's a lot of trial and error for me. you may have noticed how i redrew every single thing like 50 times, how i initially made her arm ridiculously long and had to shorten it, how i general just Abused the lasso and warp tools....the list goes on haha. the point is, i make a lot of mistakes and my final products are still very flawed, but that's okay because i know i'm getting better the more i practice! if you scroll back through my art tag you will see some anatomical horrors that would make picasso cry, but at the time i was really proud of them LKJDFSKJLF

ok let me break it down a bit

i usually start with the head, neck, and like a vague indication of the shoulders lol. then i add these slightly angled lines to build the torso from and leave a little gap so i can come back for the arms

then I add the legs!

i used to be so allergic to legs lol but i've been drawing them more lately and i decided i actually kind of love them?? who'd have thought. (but not feet. dni)

here are some basic examples of how i draw legs. keep in mind that i am still learning and these are not like the best examples ever! i don't tend to put a lot of detail in my anatomy and mainly stick to very simple lines and curves, partially because i prefer a simpler style and partially bc i currently lack the skill to be fancier about it lol

i usually start with basically two lines slanted slightly inward for the upper leg and then for the lower leg i do a straighter line and a line with a bump for the calf. pay attention to what direction the knee is facing because that will determine where your bumps go

once i've got the legs, i have the basis of the pose in place, so i add the arms

shoulders are a weird struggle for me lol but i usually add like a little circle or triangle to indicate the joint so i can attach the arms. and then i build the arms kinda similar to how i do the legs—like with two slanted lines and then the bump for the lower arm

once I’ve got the whole body down, there is usually a fair amount of adjustment haha. I gotta ask, does the pose actually work? like, where is the character putting their weight, and does the pose make sense that way? are the legs and arms and torso the proper length and width? and then at some point after a lot of fiddling i give up and voila, done :)

as far as proportions goes, my advice is to pay attention but not sweat too much about it. I used to try to like Vitruvian Man it lol and count how many heads tall the character was and try to be super precise about the proportions according to one of those proportion chart things. and ofc that stuff helpful and important to know! but in the end, worrying that much about it was a hindrance for me and I ended up with really stiff and unnatural-looking poses. so I mostly just follow a couple rules of thumb:

1. The elbow should hit around the waist/mid-torso

2. The arm, fully extended, usually hits the upper thigh. like, wrist at crotch level I guess?

3. The length of the legs is like roughly equalish to the length of the the whole upper body (head to bottom of hips)

these are just basics and not very Scientific haha but that’s vaguely what I go for. also remember that proportions can be pretty stylistic too! for example, a real human body is normally like 8 heads tall, but I probably do like 6ish heads normally. that’s pretty common for more cartoony styles, and the bigger heads also make the character look younger bc kid proportions are different than adult proportions. just kinda play around with it and go with what feels natural and good for the character you’re drawing

if you feel like your pose is stiff and weird rather than natural/dynamic, it often helps to make sure the shoulders and hips are tilted slightly at opposite angles. that's a tip i picked up from this tumblr tutorial a long time ago and i always come back to it, haha

ok that's about all i have for specifics but i have just 2 general tips to end with:

1. Use!!! References!!! seriously. i use references every time i draw. i look at photos of real people and screenshots from the show and i even sometimes take pictures of myself for reference. often i'm using multiple references for one drawing, like piecing together elements of various refs to create the pose i want, but sometimes i work from a single reference. i also study my favorite artists' work pretty frequently to see how they do things. getting familiar with what good art and real life looks like will help you get better at mimicking it and noticing when things are off.

2. Be patient with yourself. You’re gonna mess up a lot. Sometimes you may even post something and realize months later that you made chat noir’s upper arm literally twice as long as it should be :/

but fear not! you don’t have to live forever in the shadow of Long Arm Chat! lol. you will get better just by trying, I promise.

Part of the process of making art you like is making a lot of art that you don't like, or art that you like at first but hate later. Your skills and your eye are developing simultaneously, and sometimes your eye passes up your skills, so that you're better at noticing your mistakes even if you struggle to fix them. that's okay! that gap can be really frustrating and discouraging, but it's still a sign of growth and your skill will catch up. just keep studying, keep drawing, and keep having fun! it gets better, seriously. when i first started drawing like two years ago, i thought i'd never be able to do a passable full-body pose. it was SO hard. and it's still hard for me! but i can do it much better now than i could then, and when i get bummed out about my limitations, it helps me to remember that even though i still have a long way to go to get where i want to be, i've also come a long way. and you will too! if your current self could see what your future self can do, you'd be so impressed 😌

P.S. just to reiterate, I am Not an expert At All and these are just some methods/tips that are working pretty well for me right now. i hope they help you out too, but my methods may not be the best fit for you, and if that's the case, don't sweat. try out a lot of stuff and see what clicks and makes sense. art is a learning process and it's so individual so i encourage you to experiment!

i heard ur having trouble finding a straw hat!! im a student hatter and im here to help!

lets start with figuring out your hat size! you take a mesuring tape and mesure around the largest point of your head (that will be forehead and the most prodruding part of the back of your head). this is the size of your head. you add a centimeter for extra space so your hat wont be too tight and there it is! your hat size! this should make it easier to find a hat that fits.

ifyou want to make your own straw hat there are 3 things you can do! 1. you can try to weave your own hat. i dont know anything about this and its going to be a lot of work but its a cool skill to learn! 2. you can buy about 20 to 25 meters of straw hat cord? im not sure what its called in english but if you look for straw hat material you may find it. this you can stitch together in a spiral into a hat. youtube should have some tutorials. the only think you really need is a sewing machine. im making my first at school and it takes about 9 hours, practice and breaks included! 3. buy straw sheets and mae a hat from a pattern. i dont have experience with this but it should be possible. i personally would use a hat form for this but those are expensive and a bit of an investment for if you want to keep making hats, im trying to keep this as entry level as possible.

you can also try those crochet bucket hat patterns using straw twine?? in a loose stitch? i think that could work. anyway this was really long but i hope it helps!

Turnabout Storyteller (My Thoughts on it)

So, I’ve heard a lot of people saying that “Turnabout Storyteller” from AA6 is the worst case in the entire AA franchise. Which I agree and disagree, and is why I will write my thoughts about it (and also to pass the time because rn im having a school test lol)

1. Why I agree that Turnabout Storyteller is bad as hell.

I partially agree with people saying that SOJ 4th case is bad, because the whole case is a filler and also so Athena got more content (Why can’t she just got her own game, Capcom?). The whole thing felt like the first case on every AA game where there’s the tutorial and stuff and the whole build up of the case is ridiculous. And! There’s no investigation it! That case should’ve existed in her own game rather than on AA6 because she already got her character development in AA5! Throwing it all away just for a filler case just sucks, dude. Moving on to Athena’s actions in the trial. She gives up too quickly and she loses faith in her client way too quickly that she needs Simon to remind her? He’s a prosecutor and yet he knows more that a defense attorney cannot loses their faith in their client’s innocence! Athena just acts like a literal beginner on their first trial which pisses me off (Honestly she acts like Sebastian before he got his character development in AAI2). Now about the whole case, like I said before the whole case is just ridiculous, probably more ridiculous than Turnabout Big Top. Geiru killed her master (I forgot his name) because he gave her late father’s title to Uendo?? That’s a really shaky basis to kill someone and moreover Geiru jumped into too many conclusions. She thought her master wants to humiliate/taunt her by making buckwheat noodles (which she is very allergic to) just because she didn’t get the title. And that’s her whole motive to kill. Ridiculous. Now to the defendant, Bucky Whet. You know most defendants that I met in the whole franchise I really love them all. But him? Bucky Whet? Hell no. His sprites are annoying, especially the vomitting one. His whole dialogue is hard to comprehend, way harder than Gina Lestrade’s dialogue! His character design is also such a turnoff for me, the brown hair, the orange hoodie is so.. bad. Only thing I like about him is his skateboard sprite, that’s all. Now that I get that out of the way, I would like to write about my thoughts why I disagree that Turnabout Storyteller is not the worst case.

2. Why I disagree that Turnabout Storyteller is not that bad of a case.

Next thing is that some things I like about the case and things that made my rating to that case a little bit high. First off, of course, is because of the witness. Uendo Toneido. Finding out that he has DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) was something that I did not expect at all. And honestly? It was actually a great plot twist. And seeing Ace Attorney placing that in their game is actually a nice one, and atleast they handle it way better than Danganronpa. His cross examination is also very fun to be honest. Next thing is, Simon. Haha, I’m totally not biased just because he’s my favorite character, no I’m not /j. But Simon’s appearance is definitely fan-service, for Athena. Which I will not complain. Also, seeing Simon liking Rakugo was definitely a last minute addition. I really can’t imagine someone like him would like Rakugo, atleast in the english version. But some people say in the japanese version him liking Rakugo was expected because of him as a samurai and his japanese dialogue. But in the english version? Noo. Also seeing Simon in the witness stand, testifying was also something I like. He wasn’t forced to testify about something that made him traumatized for life (*cough cough* wright and edgeworth *cough cough*). AND also seeing him messing with Athena was also so funny, I really crave for both of their moments as siblings more, (When is her game, Capcom! When? I need to see more of these two!). The comedy relief is also one of the reasons why I kind of like this case, Nahyuta remembering all of the Rakugo stories there is and telling one of them in an ongoing trial was hilarious, even the judge was sucked into the story. 

Overall rating for this case for me is a 6/10. Not that bad, not too good. That extra point was because of Uendo and that ends my thoughts on this case. Thank you for reading!

i loove your taako cos!! ive been playing around with the idea of cosing him myself but im allergic to latex so i cant figure out a way to get around that; do u happen to know of any way to get around prosthetics that are latex free? the biggest ears i cld find that are silicone are just tips /:

The ears I use are latex ones, but I built a pair for my friend to be a night elf from WoW, where I used the silicone tips as a base and craft foam that I heated and shaped and sanded to be suuuuuper thin and light !! There’s a couple tutorials u can follow if you search for craft foam ears on YouTube!!! good luck!! post photos of your progress so I can see!!!

i feel like its be nicer if animation software could come in several different programs rather than every single function stuffed into one it a) makes navigating the gui a nightmare b) related to (a) it makes everything so complicated T_T like ill just want to lower layer opacity and this is something basic why is this function hard to identify

hi! i can help you but i dont know anything about borax im highly allergic. plus the borax may not work with many types of non pva glues aka th poster paint!! i had the problem with borax and dolar store glitter glue. the density is low and doesnt clump right. it must be watered down?? idk! :0 (borax is super hard to work with i usually use elmers brand everything its my favorite brand but idk if thats avalible where u are?)

Sadly, the problem for me is that all the ingredients in common use online just aren’t available in Australia, and it’s quite hard to find good info on my specific products. Based on the comments on this Aussie-authored tutorial, the brand and type of PVA glue seems to make a difference!

As far as I’m aware, slime happens from the reaction between PVA glue and a borate ion (either sodium borate/borax combined with water or diluted boric acid, found in some laundry starches/detergents/contact lens solution/floor cleaning products) so for slime to happen, the glue (or paint, as in the case of my glitter paint slimes) must be or contain PVA. Not all glues (or glitter paint) state that they contain PVA, so it’s a bit of a gamble, sometimes. (The Mont Marte clear gel glue in my original post says nothing about PVA on the label, for example, although it is clear gel PVA akin to Elmer’s.) I too have tried glitter paints and glues (some also from the dollar store craft section) that absolutely do not contain PVA based on their lack of reaction to my borax solution.

(Actually … I’d rather like to make a post or page listing the brands of glue that people have had good experiences with in slime making. And just keep updating it as a resource! So if you have glues that work well for you and you’re willing to share the brand names and the activator you used with them, please let me know and I’ll work on compiling this info as a place for novice slime makers like me to start. Especially from people living in places where Elmer’s is inaccessible!)

If I knew I could keep on getting my Lincraft glitter paint, I wouldn’t bother using anything else. It works great. I’m in love with my fluffy slimes! Since it’s no longer in production, sadly, I need to find other PVA-containing products that aren’t too ridiculously expensive.

I suspect that my glitter paint contains diluted coloured gel PVA, based on the fact that I add no extra water to it save that in which the borax is dissolved, and by luck I found the perfect ratio of water to borax to that specific glitter paint to result in lovely slime. I’ve got a few more recipes up my sleeve, though, so I’ll try again with my white PVA this weekend.

But I agree that borax seems to be the toughest activator to work with! It’s also, sadly, the cheapest, so I would like to master it.
