I’ve followed you for a long time and your tintin stuff always looked so cool so I’ve been curious is tintin a book or a show if someone wanted to get into it where do you think they should start?

It's Tintin Day again, and an EXCELLENT question from a poor unsuspecting soul who fell right into my trap!!! >:3c

I've compiled a basic Tintin menu with some ways the character differs between depictions - not fully comprehensive but a nice selection of flavours! 🍦

Personally I'd recommend the 2011 Spielberg movie as a starting point; it's the most standalone piece of media and a real love letter to the whole franchise. Plus it's breathtakingly gorgeous, whether you enjoy the plot or not it's worth it for the visuals alone!!!

If you choose to continue - I'd pick either the comic books (the source media!) or the 1991 Ellipse/Nelvana cartoon series, which closely retells many of the same stories but shuffles the timeline around and generally sanitises things for a young audience. My late paternal grandparents rented the VHS tapes from the library whenever we visited - it's so very, very cute and has a real soft place in my heart! 💖

The 60s live-action movies are lovely; but less accessible and probably better with preexisting knowledge of the franchise. The 50s Belvision cartoon... exists. And we don't talk about 1929 Tintin, he isn't real and he can't hurt us.

I hope this is helpful, or at least fun! And it's important to remember that while the comics do contain period-typical racism, xenophobia and other outdated views; part of the joy is watching Hergé's deeply conservative stance change as 50 years of research took him around the world meeting real people and learning about their experiences. He shared his own education through Tintin and that's such an important thing!!! 🌎✨

Days 5 to 8 of round 2 have a lot of group interaction time which is great for scores, not so great in that it takes me much longer to play through... But hey contestants are becoming friends and that's awesome to watch!

I'm still trying to think about exactly how many bonus points to give contestants if any of them win more than one challenge... Because I'm indecisive I think I'll check after day 8 how much more improvement those who get dates have and then do a poll about what percentage of that score should be given as bonus points for a second win.

At least twice a week since July I've had people thanking me for my neuroendocrine cancer education and telling me how often they use the resources I built them :') idk imposter syndrome is ever present and in healthcare you can even have thoughts of "Man, am I spending too much time educating/researching on poorly understood cancers?"

I'm still struggling to decide on format, but I'm currently compiling my research and resources to make a self-guided cancer education resource for my team. I really enjoy my job rn but I think focused cancer education would be nice to springboard into later in life once I finish learning about the inner guts of the ACA. I'm finally healthy enough to consider higher education, but the catch is my employer insurance is the only reason I can get my medical care...and leaving for school to be able to focus more officially on cancer education means I'd lose that medical care security :(

i dreamed i was auditioning for a high school musical (well, it was a little saucy for high school but only a little). The audition didn't go super well and there were a ton of people trying out so I wasn't dead set that I was going to get a part but they had everyone milling around waiting for results and my old band director (who recently retired, is not an asshole in real life, and was not in charge of theatre auditions anyway) was calling everyone up to receive results envelopes. this was taking ages and i thought they'd skipped me alphabetically so I went up on my own to try and catch his eye.

so he hands me an envelope which just has my first name on it. "look inside and then give it back so it can be reused for any other [myname]s." now, most of you know that i have an EXTREMELY rare first name for America (slightly less rare for England but I've still never known another person with this name personally) so no, there was no one else in my high school with my first name, and also the idea that an envelope could be reused for everyone with the same name makes it pretty obvious that the envelope contains a rejection, so, like, double rude. but then i look inside and what it contains is two button badges each with the word NO written on them in giant letters. which, again, rude.

so what little of the dream remained was filled with vague thoughts of revenge

You know I actually never realized this before-- so you remember how tri. retconned Original Chosen fighting and defeating Apocalymon into them fighting the Dark Masters instead? (To be fair it is possible they could've ALSO fought Apocalymon afterwards but that isn't the Epic Final Showdown tri. decided to depict so it's borderline a retcon)

If the Original 5 Chosen fought and defeated the Dark Masters once in the distant past, doesn't that mean that

A) They survived and hid for just a few thousand years until they came back for a Round 2 at conquering the world

B) They died, were reborn, and THEN went for the Round 2

You know I've just DYING with curiosity, desperately wanting to know if any of the villians in Adventure would ever be reborn after Adventure, right. Because according to the lore they should, right (unless their data was like somehow absorbed by Apocalymon and destroyed along with him (though that would still leave Piemon as an exception (and Vamdemon but we all know what happened to him) and the sole survivor))

And what tri. has essentially done is confirm that most of them should, in fact, be reborn sooner or later

But that just raises the question of if Apocalymon was lowkey driving the Dark Masters nuts (as suggested by the novels), and if tri. was kind of about destroying the last remnants of Apocalymon's data (within Meicoomon), if they were reborn this time would they be free of Apocalymon's influence

If so, would their third (?) lives then turn out different? Would they still try to take over the world all over again for funsies (this time just without Apocalymon giving them power etc), or were they just the same as Ken was in Zero Two? I mean Apocalymon was supposed to be a spawn of Milleniummon and Ken was infected with Mille's malice directly, so while it may have been a bit filtered it was still the same source of malice and corruption, right

And like regardless of how their next lives would turn out, shouldn't the kids (OR AT THE VERY FUCKING LEAST GENNAI) like realize that this is going to happen eventually and like. Go and see if they can find them (either as their pre-Ultimate forms or even when they're still in their Eggs) and try to figure out what to do BEFORE shit hits the fan
