Sasuke Uchiha : It’s not only been a week since you left for your secret mission. It was so secret that only you and Tsunade knew when you’d probably come back. Sasuke didn’t like this passion. He was careful not to tell you, but he went to see Tsunade and insisted at considerable length. Justifying himself by saying that he was your fiancé and that he had the right to be kept informed. She didn't accede to his request and he left in a rage. Though as he was blowing off some steam at the training grounds, trying to release all the tension he felt knowing you were out of his protective zone, he felt your chakra. He raised his head, looking around and suddenly he saw you. A huge weight lifted from his heart and he made his way towards you. You turned around sensing him as well. When you locked eyes you couldn’t help but run to hug him. At first he didn’t move nor said anything though after a moment to compose himself he stroked gently your hair saying “I’m glad you’re back”

Naruto Uzumaki : He doesn’t hold back when he sees you again. It could be after a month, a week or a day he can’t help but spread his feelings out in the open “Y/n ?!? Dattebayo ! Is that you ?!?” he screamed from the other side of the street, rushing towards you. His body collided with you as he effortlessly lifted you from the floor, and started twirling again and again. His eyes shined bright as he was looking at you. Giggles and genuine laughs escaping his lips as he hugged you tighter. He was so happy to be with you again - he forgot literally about how much he craved a huge bowl of ramen. He just wanted to spend some time with you and recharge his batteries with the person he loved the most.

Yamato : He didn’t really like it when you were called without him on a mission. Though he knew damn well that you were a fierce and resilient kunoichi. So instead of being stressed all day he decided to prepare your return. So that he’ll be able to celebrate it with you if he wasn’t himself called for a mission. He prepared a whole schedule for that day. Helping you take a nice and soothing bath, then help you prepare for the night, go on a date, and give you a good massage - as much as he could - once you were back in your shared home. Each time you leave like this makes him discover a new depth of his love for you. Hopefully he knew when you were going to be back home. So when the day came he prepared a nice outfit for you and the most important, a warm bubble bath with scented candles. Though when he saw you coming home he knew he’d had to reschedule the date for the day after. He helped you in the bath and almost chocked when you asked if he could join you “O-of c-course Princess. Here l-let me just” he undressed and sat behind you in the bath, his cheeks tinted with a rosy colour. As he held you close he couldn’t help but marvel at how soft and warm you were. He ended up being the one falling asleep first in the bath.

Rock Lee : Lee doesn't know how to measure out. He doesn't do it in everyday life, so with you ! His one and only ! The apple of his eye ! He's absolutely incapable of it. You were only gone for the day, only a few hours, but it already seemed too much for him because when he saw you arrive he pounced on you. Almost tackling you to the ground. This time you took the initiative and inked your feet so as not to end up on the ground like when you offered him the flowers "Y/nnnnn ! My plum ! My darling ! My love ! You look even more refreshed than this morning ! Even more combative ! Your strength shines through with every step you take..." he ranted for a long moment before calming down and taking you gently in his arms. He nuzzled his cheek gently against your shoulder, as you played with his ebony hair making him purr like a cat. So cute !

Sai : He didn't know he could miss someone so much. He thought he was ready for any situation thanks to his root training, but no. His heart clenched in his chest as he watched you pass through the Konohagakure gate, after 5 very long months. He saw your friends hug you, and before he knew what he was doing, he was running towards you. His arms encircled your waist and pulled you tight against him. You could feel that he was trembling as he held you under the strong emotions running through him - your friends stepped aside to give you some privacy. You gently rubbed his back to calm the overwhelming feeling he was experiencing, helping him to take a long breath "I can't... I'm so happy to have you back. It's so strange" ( "it's so strange" as in to be this happy ) he murmured the last part with uncertainty in his voice. Now all he wanted was to be able to cuddle with you while he drifted off to sleep.

Sasori : You’ve missed him so much while you were on your mission, but you knew things weren’t going to happen the way you always dream they will. When you entered your shared place he didn’t even acknowledge your presence. His face still turned towards what he was crafting. Even if you know he wasn’t really vocal on his feelings it still hurt a bit. But as you were about to go mind your own business you heard his groggy voice behind you "I hated waiting for you to come back" And just this brought a huge smile on your face. You walked back towards him and kissed the top of his hair. A Sweet and gentle smile appeared on his lips as he softened slightly, feeling his heart swell with love. Maybe it was time to take a little break and lie in bed with you… maybe you could tell him about your mission. 

Shikamaru Nara : Usually very calm and relaxed, Shikamaru couldn't help the trembling of his knee or the way his foot was bouncing on the ground. After 2 months you were finally back and he just missed you so much. He couldn't even catch a break and take a nap. He had to keep himself busy with work until he wore himself out and fell down from exhaustion. Today you were coming back and he couldn't stop being so excited to be with you again. When he saw you standing there he thought first he’d manage to wait for you to greet your friends first and let you walk up to him. But he couldn’t, his legs took long strides, with one arm he pushed Naruto and pulled you against his chest. You lifted your head up and looked behind you to see who it was, even though you had an idea when you heard his voice "Even when you just returned, you can't help but be troublesome, woman" You quirked an eyebrow at him making him swallow hard "I'm o-only joking" After all you always knew how to trouble him.  

Gaara : From the moment you left, he was worried and concerned about you. He was always thinking that the worst could happen. At night he usually slept very badly when you weren't there. Knowing that you were far away, and on a mission on top, was enough to keep him up at night. He wanted to be informed of your whereabouts but was always afraid you'd take it as a lack of trust. So he waited. And then one day you came back as beautiful and radiant as the day you left. He, usually so reserved, even in the privacy of your house, rushed over to you and engulfed you in a bone crushing hug. His eyes widened and he quickly stepped back to check for any wounds. Then, once satisfied as he saw nothing, he took you back into his arms. Blushing deeply at his public display of affection. He hid his flushed face against your neck, taking the opportunity to place a few kisses and whisper "I'm so glad you're safe"

Utakata : He was quietly doing his laundry by a river when he felt a presence behind him. He was immediately suspicious, tensing slightly at the thought of anyone coming near your shared house. His sharp ear listened to every sound. And then suddenly he felt arms grab him from behind. He quickly gripped them and pinned the person to the ground. When he heard you giggles as you met his belligerent gaze, his eyes widened. He froze an instant, his hair dangling above your face,  and you took the opportunity to steal him a kiss. He blushed furiously and released his strong hold on you. A small smile appeared on his face as his eyes swept across your face. He saw a small scratch and instinctively ran his finger over it. A hint of protectiveness rose in him at the thought that someone might have hurt you. He got up from you and helped you to your feet, as calm as ever. There was so much he wanted to do, to take you in his arms, to kiss you tenderly, to talk to you, to listen to you talk, but all he could do was stand there frozen. You understood his internal struggle and took him in a gentle embrace, which he was grateful for. He reciprocated your affection and left a long kiss on your hairline "I've longed for you my Love"

Iruka Umino : It has been almost 3 months since you left on your mission. As he was closing his classroom he wondered, like everyday if tonight you’d be back. but as he neared the gate of the school he saw a figure he recognised. When your eyes locked he feels tears well up in his. He rubbed his eyes as he ran towards you and took you in a oh so gentle embrace mirroring the depth of his love for you. His body shook slightly as he held you with all his strength. He really missed you a lot, and he felt so sad when at night he couldn't cuddle up with you. His voice was really quiet when he said “Can I be the little spoon tonight ?” He looked down at you and see you nodding at him, granting him something he craved since so long he stammered “T-thank you, t-thank you so m-much”

Tobirama Senju : When you finally came back from your 5-month long mission, you thought your husband would at least show you some excitement or at least some happiness to have you back. You knew how he was and tried not to give much importance to it. Though when you said that you missed him you only heard him growl from his office. “Okay…” you thought. You saw him slightly turn around and quickly check out for any noticeable injury you may have got. When he saw nothing he turned back on his paper. Frustrated, you told him that you were going to take a nap. He could sense the sadness in your voice and he just wanted to slap himself for this. So he waited until he was sure you were fast asleep and he joined you. He lied behind you and pulled you against his body, breathing in your scent “I hope you know damn well that if I proposed to you it’s because I care about you. I love you like crazy. Even if I’m too much of a dumbass to show it to you the way you’d like me too” He held you a lighter tighter hoping that even if you were asleep your subconsciousness would catch a hint of his love for you. But little did he know that you were widely awake and widely smiling, eager for the perfect moment to come to tease him with that.

Deidara : The only thing he was able to think about while you were away was you. when you came back you saw lots and lots of clay statues in your image. it took your breath away. there were at least a dozen "Welcome back my Muse ! Be here at home !" he advanced towards you, eager to embrace you. When he pulled back he explained to you what he had decided to do with all these statues. They'll be used in a major Akatsuki act. He couldn't help but sneer, "The explosion of an entire village! They've been made to believe in statues of a goddess to decorate the village, but he can't be bothered to-" he stopped suddenly and crashed his lips against yours. In the end, he preferred to spend time with you, just the two of you, and not talk about the missions that were coming up.

Kakashi Hatake :  You have just returned home. You decided to put your clothes in the washing machine and take a quick shower before going to see Kakashi. You wanted to surprise him with your return, invite him to a date and maybe end the evening at his place. Though it looked like it wasn't going to be quite like that. You heard a knock on your door when you opened it and saw a smirking - well you guessed - Kakashi behind it. He entered your apartment and closed the door behind him, still facing you. He lowered his mask and kissed the top of your head sweetly. You'd been together long enough for him to feel perfectly at ease with you. When you explained that he could go and get something to nibble on while you went to take a shower before probably going out to eat with him later. He let you walk alone towards the bathroom. He sighed softly, running his fingers through his hair as he stood up. He knocked gently on the bathroom door and when you gave him permission to enter he asked "What do you say we start with the shower and then go eat mmh ? Let me relax your muscles from the stress of your mission" And that's what you did. You let him relax you as he held you against the shower wall.

Minato Namikaze : It had been a month since he'd last walked the Konohagakure pavement while he was on his mission. Suddenly he stumbled onto you turning the corner of an adjacent street. He accelerated, calling out your name. When you turned around, you saw your boyfriend coming towards you at the speed of light. As his body made contact with yours, he instinctively pulled you against him. He wanted to do so many things all at once, hugging you, kissing you, touching you… sweeping you off your feet and taking you home “I missed you dearly Y/n. Please can we go home” he said as his lips were hovering over your neck. Gosh he just wanted to suck a hickey there. When you nodded eagerly he took you bridal style and jumped on a roof before taking you home just like he craved all that time. He was going to show you just how much he missed you… All. Damn. Night.

Itachi Uchiha : As he safely comes back after his 2 month-long mission he just wants one thing, you. Being apart all this time, not being able to intertwine with your body, it wore him out more than the mission in itself. When he sees you again he can’t help but feel himself twitch in his brief. Though despite his growing need he doesn’t want to impose himself on you. He only arrived 5 minutes ago and he doesn’t want to seem rude nor only interested in you for your body. Even if at the moment it was what he craved the most. As you felt him hard against you, you couldn’t help but smile knowing how much he was able to refrain his needs. Though it didn’t mean you agreed with that. So you rolled your hips against his and he gasped, his eyes widening “I- hhh… thank you. I’m going to take good care of you”

Hidan : Bro is just so fucking horny. Like you both parted ways to go on missions with your respective teammate since only a day and he was already jerking off thinking about you. Like damn chill. When he came back he excused himself deeply before Jashin, as he couldn't do his usual prayer. He couldn’t afford to spend any more time not inside you. He pretended to be surprised when you came home that night. But his joy and delight were real when he saw you. He took you in a possessive hug. His arms wrapped around your waist as he pulled you against his chest. And took a deep breath of your perfume against your neck. The need between his legs growing with every second "Welcome back home pet. You smell as delicious as always" He then made sure you were alone and undisturbed for what he'd wanted to offer you. 📖 Kakashi

Now for a man who always has his hands in his pockets, Kakashi sure does love holding your hand. 

Especially after all the trauma, he is a solitary creature, yet he loves people like Gai and you who pull him out of his habits.

If he’s taking you out on a date or a walk, he’s gonna slip a hand into yours and tug you along. 

As we know he can easily read his books one handed, so the other hand is free for different things. Like holding your hand.

Honestly he’s so blase about it, but it warms him so much to see you smile and sigh with your hand in his. 

He’s the type to go grocery shopping together around town and use your interlocked hands to point at shops and items. 

If he’s propped up on his bed reading, and you’re on his lap with him, he’ll hold your hand while he reads with the other. 

This man also loves to grip your wrist and pet at the pulse point with his thumb. 

Now he’d get too flustered with too much pda, but if you and him are on a double date with Asuma and Kurenai he’s def holding your hand without any fanfare. 

When you’re older after he’s retired from being the Hokage, he has no issues walking hand in hand all the time. 

He loves doing “old people” things with you, and has even attempted to hold your hand while you’re gardening and cooking. 

He’s even dramatically pouted (to tease you) if you don’t let him. 

🌳Yamato

Yamato loves holding your hand so much.

Honestly after you were official, he started making it a thing that he holds your hand all the time. 

Yamato loves recognition and praise, and he needs everyone to know you’re his special person, his love. 

Yamato can be shy, but the fact that someone loves him this much means he’s just happy to be with you. 

He’ll have all the upcoming festivals and events on a calendar so he can have time to hold your hand in front of others.

He holds it pretty normally, but if you do any interlocking of fingers he will blush and whisper affections to you. Especially about how cute you are.

If you’re at home and relaxing with him, especially with your hands occupied, he’ll think about how he can get to holding your hand. 

Yamato will end up deciding on pulling you close and just holding you instead. Another very needy person. 

🕳Genma

He’s sooo rude, he can’t take shit seriously. 

Man is purely unserious. (look at him!! awful man!)

Y’all aren’t even dating, you’re in a situationship and he’s trying to hold your hand. 

One time you guys were hanging out and he quickly grabbed your hand and used some old fashioned terms and pointed out a cute gift at a shop. (Probably a plushie or something)

The man running the shop asked Genma if he was thinking of getting it for his wife… and he said yes! Raising your held hand up to show you were together. 

He then let that man give you it on a discount and walked you home shocked holding your hand. 

At your door, he kissed it and then let you know he wouldn’t be able to get dinner tomorrow because he had to hang out with Anko.

I hate this man stg. 

He also likes trying to hold your hand if all the jonin are having a hang out to try and make fun of Kurenai and Asuma. 

It’s okay though they “talked” some sense into him for playing with you, and the next time he tried to hold your hand:

Well… you told him no, and he said he was just trying to hold his s/o’s hand, he said it so softly and seriously, you let him take it. 

And he squeezed it and took his senbon out and kissed you while whispering apologies and still holding your hand. 

He also changed how your hands were linked so he could pin you back against the wall with that hand and give you more kisses. 

Hate him so much, smh.

🎓Iruka

Now Iruka is a teacher and that’s the only reason he’ll be cautious about holding your hand. 

It’s not that he’s not madly in love with you, it’s that kids do not shut up about these things. 

He doesn’t want them distracted by his relationship (which is so damn silly)

But he’s def linking your fingers if it’s at an event where he knows he won’t see the kids. 

Honestly sometimes he puts time aside for late night walks 

(Or late night dinner after he’s finished grading) so he can hold your hand around the city in peace.

But the kids will end up seeing, and it will spread. It was two girls who were out with their moms doing some later afternoon shopping and they spread that back to Konohamaru and Crew, then it got to Naruto and Sakura, and then it got to everybody. 

Actually a lot of the chunin and jonin didn’t even know you two were dating and because it’s Iruka it just becomes a whole thing if any of them see you together and you’re not holding hands. 

Poor Iruka, he just gets bright red at all the teasing, ‘Hey Iruka-sensei your girlfriend is right there why aren’t you holding her hand?’

His students ‘Iruka-sensei! My mom said she holds my dad’s hand because she loves him, do you love s/o?” 

Kakashi is actually the worst offender somehow. 

Naruto actually thinks it’s really cute and he reacts to it kinda like he did his Minato and Kushina’s love story. (excuse me I’m crying brb)

📝Jiraiya (yes he should be in jail… yes I would send him my check for commissary)

If you catch Jiraiya (or possibly read these as Jiraiya/Tsunade headcanons) he’s usually just got a hand on your lower back. 

He likes to give you nice back rubs, and surprisingly they don’t turn into anything unless you were alone in your room together 

Though if you were in a crowded street etc, he’s grabbing your wrist with his big hand and making sure you stay tucked in against him.

He also likes to throw an arm over your shoulder at restaurants and link your fingers from there. 

He’ll even pout and ask you to give him your hand from that weird angle. 

Or he’ll have his arm wrapped behind your back and hold your hand that’s at your side. 

Surprisingly he is a hand kisser. He likes to play the gentleman and kiss the back of it all the time. 

Say you need him to help steady you as you fix your shoe, or get over a puddle he’ll kiss it before he drops it down…. Still holding your hand, and now you’ll be walking like that.

Asuma raised his eyes to Genma, who was looking at something behind him. Asuma didn't need to look, didn't even need to try and guess who it was. He knew.

"Asuma!" Your angry screech hit the ears of the men outside of the bar. Some chuckled at your cute fiery temper, while the others shied away from you as you stormed past. Asuma turned and threw a smirk your way before pulling the cigarette from his mouth, "What's up, little sis-"

Your fingers grabbed his cigarette, slamming it on the ground as you put it out with your boot. "Don't even play coy with me; you have my book. GIVE IT BACK," Asuma feigned being wounded with his hand over his heart, "Why would you accuse me of such things?"

The men around him laughed, warming your cheeks from anger and embarrassment. "Because you always do. Now give me back my book" Asuma ignored you as he searched his pockets for another cigarette. The more he searched around, the louder the laughter grew around you. Genma was the only one not laughing, and he started to pity you.

Your brows furrowed in pain, chest aching as your brother once again took it too far. He found a cigarette and raised it to his lips. The men continued to laugh, and you glared at your brother as he ignited his lighter.

"Fine," you whimpered as you fought back the tears. "I didn't need it anyway" Asuma stopped at the sound of your wobbling words, eyes flicking up to you before he extinguished the lighter. He opened his mouth to apologize, but Genma beat him to the punch, "Here, Y/n. Is this what you need?"

Your eyes lit up at the sight of the textbook in Genma’s hand, causing him to smirk at how adorable you were. "Yes! Gen, thank you!" He nodded before taking the book to you. Asuma eyed his friend, not liking what he was seeing. You were an adult, sure, but you would always be his baby sister.

"Genma. Don't even think about it."

Your eyebrows furrowed as you grabbed the book from Genma's fingers, "He's not doing anything, Asu. Leave him alone-"

"Oh really? So him sneaking out of your room last night was also him 'not doing anything'"

Genma scoffed at Asuma's accusation. He wasn't there for any other reason than to help you study for your exams. "I have a test Asuma. He was helping me-"

"Helping. Right"

The men chuckled lightly at that but stopped at Genma’s glare. He hated when your brother did this to you. He's always been this way, ever since you were little, and the teasing only got worse as you grew. But you were becoming a lot more confident in who you were, and while you did get teary over little things, big things like this pissed you off.

"You're a dick. Honestly, why can't you just leave me alone!?"

Everyone but Genma and Asuma started to back away from you. While you weren't a Ninja, you still had a robust amount of Chakra running through your body, thanks to your father. "You don't scare me-"

"No, but Dad might"

A jolt of fear flashed through him as you turned swiftly and bolted towards the Hokage's office. Asuma was hot on your heels, spewing out empty threats that grew in severity the closer you got to the tower.

The shinobi tasked with guarding the Hokage moved away from you swiftly, eyes wide as Asuma trailed after you. This was usual, of course. It wasn't a typical Tuesday if Asuma hadn't pissed you off to the point where you would go to your father in rage.

The door to the office slammed open, "Dad. He's doing it AGAIN."

"She's lying! I'm innocent-"

You both halted at the many eyes now glued to your angry forms. There were at least five ANBU officers, two genin teams, and three teachers present. "Shit, the exams," you hissed quietly to Asuma, eyes widening in fear of the scolding you two would surely get from your father.

"Can't this wait?"

You shot a sheepish smile to your father before your eyes wandered to a specific teacher in the corner. Iruka nodded at you, and your dad once more cleared his throat, urging you to answer him swiftly so he could return to work.

"Ya… Dad, it's fine. We're fine. Right, buddy!!" You exclaimed as you threw an arm over Asuma's shoulders. He huffed but played it off as he pinched your cheek. "Yep! We are great."

"Good. Then please leave-"

The two of you were out of there before he could finish the sentence. Iruka chuckled in the corner, causing others to eye him curiously. They had never seen this type of behavior before.

But he sure as hell did.

The frogs began to croak along the tree lines by the time you had finished your weekly reading. Just two more weeks and you'd be a teacher for the Konoha Preschool. It took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, but it would be worth it. You moved to lie down on your back, hoping to get a second of relaxation before heading home. Closing your eyes, you took in the sounds surrounding you. The village was always so peaceful right before sunset

"How many more weeks?"

Your eyes shot open from fright before relaxing at the sight of him standing above you. Your lips curled up at him before you patted the blanket below you, signaling him to join you. "Two more, and I'll be a teacher! I'm so excited, Iruka. I can hardly wait" he chuckled at that before moving to lay beside you. The sun was setting, and you smiled dreamily at the pinkish-orange sky above. Iruka turned his head to look at you. Feeling his eyes on you made you turn your head to look back, "Do I have something on my face?"

Your teasing tone made him burn with embarrassment, but he didn't look away. He couldn't look away. "No. I just like looking at you."

It was your turn to heat up. His gaze was steely and serious, making your heart skip a beat. You chuckled playfully at that, trying your best to fight off the bashfulness, but your laughter died down as he turned onto his side. Iruka brought his hand to your face, fingers delicately caressing your burning cheek. "Don't you have a girlfriend?"

Your question made him smile, and you didn't know why. The last time you talked to him, he was dating some other shinobi, but things have clearly changed. "Not anymore." You nodded and let him continue caressing your skin; Iruka, to you, was a weak point in your armor. You've dated before, on and off for years, but it stopped when you entered adulthood. You started seeing Genma to distract yourself from the painful image of seeing Iruka with his girlfriend. You and Genma were never serious. It was all just fun.

But it was different with Iruka.

You glanced at his lips, breath growing heavy as the urge to kiss him blossomed. God's you missed him. His touch, his voice, his scent, his lips. Everything. "You and Genma-"

"Not serious," you whispered before scooting closer to him. You just wanted a taste. Iruka smirked at your answer before scooting closer as well. You closed your eyes, leaning in to try and capture his lips with yours. But he stopped you.

You looked at him in pure shock. Did you read this wrong?

"Do you remember the first time we met?"

Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion before relaxing as you replayed the memory in your head. "When you told me to go tell my father to fuck off-"

"Those weren't my exact words-"

Your giggle cut him off; honestly, your first encounter with each other was quite the story. But it changed your life. "I don't think I've ever told you I fell in love with you that day." His words were light and airy, as if saying them too loudly would get him in trouble. Your smile reached your eyes as you brought your hand up to trace the scar across his nose. Iruka's eyes drooped at the calming feeling. If you didn’t stop, he would surely fall asleep.

"I loved you before then, actually" Your whisper made his eyes open in disbelief. Before that first meeting? How was that possible? He scooted closer to you till your noses touched, urging you to continue. Your fingers trailed up his face and plunged into his hair, nails scratching at his scalp, causing a sigh to fall from his lips. "I fell for you the second I saw you when we were about 6. I don't think you remember, but you were the first person who said hi to me at the academy. I was afraid, and that little hello made me feel better."

Iruka looked at you blankly as he racked his brain for the memory. "Oh!" His bright smile lit up your heart as he remembered saying hello to a shy girl in the back of the room. "I remember now. It seemed like you didn't want to be there. So I figured welcoming you may help calm your nerves…."

You hummed at him before leaning in more. Your noses continued brushing against one another, and your breathing grew shallow. You wanted to kiss him, wanted it more than anything. "Can I kiss you?" Iruka's words had you nodding your head violently. Your fingers gripped onto his dark locks, lip curling into a pout as he waited for a verbal cue.

"Please kiss me."

He put a hand on your back and yanked you into him, lips slamming against yours as his hands wandered up and down your spine. You moaned into the kiss and deepened it, wanting nothing more than to drown in him. "Ruka. I missed you" Your whine had him moving you, so he was hovering over your body, "I missed you too" His words were sweet, but his kisses were rough. It had been years since the two of you last kissed, and the energy coursing through you told you he also missed these moments.

Iruka's lips traveled down your jaw toward your neck, making you arch into his embrace. Your hands traveled down his body before grabbing at the edge of his shirt. "We shouldn't do this here," Iruka huffed out; he wanted to give you what you wanted, but doing so in the middle of a park was not a good idea. "Then take me home. I need you. Iruka please" he was up in an instant, your pleading sending a shockwave of arousal through him. He hauled you up with him before grabbing your book and blanket. He kissed you once more before grabbing your hand and guiding you swiftly to his apartment.

You had a lot to catch up on. That was for sure.

💀HELP ME FIND A Kakashi x Iruka FANFIC💀

hey sorry but i would really like help finding a fanfic i read like 4 years ago. might have been made in 2011 it was 7ish chapters on wattpad and followed kakashi because the elders wanted him to find a “mate” to carry on his blood line. tsunade made it into a game show based on the batchlor and took betts on who kakashi would pick out of all the girls.

iruka was kakashis like assistant making sure he did everything and looked good. each chapter was a new day with an activity, the ones i remember were a simple date, casino, meeting the family of the girl, beach day, and “cowboys vs indians”. hinata was a contestant and iruka was throwing hands because she was her student. pakku also told kakashi to pick iruka.

Who are your favorite characters to ship with Gai? While I’ve come across some very nice fan art and stories of him with Kakashi, there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to disrupt their epic bromance.

Gai is so shippable because he’d be the most supportive, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and optimistic partner anyone could ask for. So with that being said, I’m here for most of Gai ships even if they’re not my personal faves.

But some alternatives;

GaiGen - Genma better not her my man in any way shape or form or else 👊 but chill x chaotic is one of my favorite ship tropes

IruGai - he’d stress Iruka out a bit, but all in good fun and Iruka would have a date to Naruto’s wedding. Both are fatherly/big brother types to the younger ninjas and you’d know they’d love talking about their students together.

InoiGai - Gai brought a bouquet, okay? A man that can appreciate flowers and a man that owns a flower shop *chef’s kiss* also imagine Inoichi trying to go his job with Gai there 😆

GaiKure - another chill x Chaotic Gai is AMAZING with kids and him being Mirai’s stepdad would be cute.

AnkoGai - one of the few on this list that can semi match his energy (I’m not usually into same same ships) and give him a hard (but fun) time. Also Gai would happily buy her all the sweets she could possibly want.

Possibly GaiTsuna - Gai would be like a sugar baby minus the founds because Tsunade’s luck, not that he want her to found his lifestyle.

GaiMei - y’all people that say Gai isn’t “conventionally attractive” can hush, he’s handsome and Mei likes Handsome men. Kirigakure can use someone with Gai’s spirit and Mei would get that ring 💍

Sasuke Uchiha :  His ego took a big hit when you broke up with him. He's hurt. But he suspects that his behavior and his coldness undoubtedly had a role to play. When he listens to your message he shakes his head "Of course you can call me, Silly Girl" then continues smiling bitterly at how you apologize again even though there's no need to. He's told you so many times not to apologize to him. His hands tighten around the phone to the point of breaking it when he hears you begging him to come over. Suddenly there's hope for him, for both of you. He doesn't waste a second before he gets up and puts on his sandals before running to your house. He runs from roof to roof, knocking loudly on the door. And as soon as you open it, he looks at you as if you've just disturbed him. And then in a rush he grabs your face in his hands and kisses you "Not without you... impossible" he says between kisses. But maybe none of this happens and he decides to leave the village after you've broken up. There's no point in staying and hurting each other.

Sasori : He doesn’t want to look at his phone. Probably didn’t even notice he got a text. If he knew maybe he would have checked. If he knew it was you maybe he would have been faster. He sees your text something like 3 or 4 days later. And he panics. He rushes to where he knows you are. He doesn’t even bother to settle inside his big armor puppet. He needs to be sure you’re okay. He already hates himself knowing he let you waiting and he hates this more than having to wait himself. He doesn’t knock, he just enters. Once he sees you there standing in front of him he feels a pang of regret in his heart. How did he ever think he was able to go on without you “I won't waste any more of your time” He is also considering making a puppet out of you if this situation of breaking up ever comes back.

Genma Shiranui : He just doesn't take it seriously. He is too much of a child in his behavior yet. He knows he is handsome and that he can get bitches whenever he wants. The need to settle down was never really felt. So when you broke up well he was almost relieved, it was like a return to freedom. When he got your message though he felt bad. He knows he won't be able to be the man you want him to be for the time being. So he does one of the worst things - in my opinion - he sends you a text back “I’m sorry for what I’m making you go through. I love you and you know that. But you also know that I can’t just change like this and be happy with it” he doesn’t want to conclude his text. He secretly hopes that one day one person will suffice him. On the other hand of the line though, you cry. You knew from the beginning you wouldn’t be able to change him. It’s hope that brought you there

Naruto Uzumaki : He is so sad when you break up. He even stops going to Ichiraku’s ramen shop. He feels lonely like he never did. But he has hope. He knows it can’t be over just yet. You have so much more to live. When he gets your text he doesn’t even open the notification he just runs to your house. He doesn’t know why you reached to him but his instinct is telling him to get there as soon as possible. When you open the door he has a goofy smile on his face as he pulls you in a bone crushing hug. it’s only when he feels you sobbing that he pulls away to wipe away your tears with his thumbs “Hey why are you crying ? I’m here now”

Rock Lee : He is crushed since you broke up with him. He trains even harder. He doesn’t even hear his phone ringing once, twice. He doesn’t hear the notification signaling your text either. It’s either Neji or Tenten who tries to catch his attention. Once they do though and he actually focuses on your text there is no going back. He is going to scream your name in the whole village to find you as soon as he can. He will hug the hell out of you and apologize more than enough for not being the best boyfriend he could have been “No please let me hug you longer to make up for the time I was away. I’ll be 10- No ! 30 times better than before you’ll see !” Don’t worry he’s forgetting you two broke up as soon as he’ll feel your skin against his. Though he’ll always remember that your love is not granted. He is going to be even more the best for you.

Kakashi Hatake : He didn’t want you two to break up, but he couldn’t help but chuckle sadly. He knew this was going to come at some point. I mean look at you, how could he ever deserve all that to be his to love and cherish. Though when he gets your text his heart is close to jumping out of his chest. His mind starts wandering. He thinks about his father and he hopes. He just hopes it’s a genuine want to see him again and not the final plea for help before you… “No no don’t be stupid” he shakes his head “Y/n is strong” The pace of his strides betrays his growing anxiety as he rushes to your home “Please please please” he ends up being the one pleading When you open the door, the need to be sure you’re okay is too strong. his eyes explore your body to see any trace of injury. it’s only after that he pulls you in a gentle embrace as if scared to break you “I can’t leave without you. I couldn’t never. Let’s restart with something new. I couldn't take you to dinner tonight. How does that sound ?”

Sai :  When you told him you wanted to break up, he replied, "Well, you're entitled to whatever I think", rather matter-of-factly. I mean he was right, but it wasn’t what you wanted, needed to hear at the moment. He wasn't really very good at navigating relationships, and this was representative of his lack of experience in the sentimental field. Every intense moment was counterbalanced by laborious moments when he struggled to find his feet with you. So it's no surprise that he's not sure how to react to your voicemail. He takes a few notes - still behaving like a ninja of the Root - and even if he doesn't know what he would have done under normal circumstances. There's a clear message at the end of the audio "Please come over" and so he follows the order and goes to your place. He can't account for the turmoil in his heart or the way his hands become clammy and fidgeting at his sides as if something important were at stake. Finally, when you open the door and he sees your tear-reddened eyes, he can't help but say "I love you too"

Gaara : His eyes impossibly widened when he got your text. He thought everything between you two was over. He didn’t think about any possibilities of luck that will bring you back together. You on the other hand needed to know. When you mentioned breaking up he shut himself off. Yes he tried to speak back a little but he made sure not to talk over you nor at the same time. It wasn’t the greatest solution. Sensing the urgency in your tone he just can’t help but leapt off his chair and run - literally - throughout the corridors. You, on your side also thought about the possibility of him hesitating to come over so you also decided to make your way to his office. you ended up bumping into one another in a corner “Sorry, are you okay ?” he mumbles. But when he notices it's you his arms wrap instinctively around you as his head nestles in the crook of your neck. He doesn’t want to let go anymore, and he doesn’t care that he is in the middle of a public passageway. He shudders in your arms as he loses his grip on his emotions. You pull him in a gentle embrace as you drag him to a more quiet place to have a much needed discussion. Maybe you two would be able to work after all.

Iruka Umino : He lies awake in his bed the night that follows your break up. He just can’t wrap his head about what happened. It was just so unexpected and out of frustration. The day after, everyone knows that something is wrong with him. He lost his smile, he loses his temper rapidly and he is constantly lost in thoughts. When he gets your text he is actually on his phone. He was about to send you something similar. his heartbeats are ringing in his ears as he stands up suddenly. It doesn’t matter where he is at the moment. If he is in class, he is going to find an excuse, push some kids aside and zoom to where you are. As he runs to your house he can’t help the tears streaming down his face. He is just so sensitive. As you open the door you both fall into each other's arms crying. You start kissing sloppily as your tears stream towards your mouths. You both made a mistake by considering the mere thought of breaking up, and you’re not doing this mistake ever again “I won’t let this happen ever again. I won’t let go. Never”

Tobirama Senju : Probably screams “Okay fine you wanna break up ? Well just get the fuck out of here then !” when he feels you slipping from his grasp. He loves you, he really does. But he has too much pride. His little heart is crushed. His brother notices and tries to speak with him but Tobirama tells him to fuck off. When He finally gets your text his pride is still wounded and he doesn’t know if he pushes it aside and gets over to you or if he deletes the text and acts as if he didn’t see anything. Well he doesn’t do both. He doesn’t come to see you but he keeps the text. You’re extremely hurt that he doesn’t come. Until one day you hear a soft knock on your door. It’s Hashirama who comes to apologizes for his little brother’s behavior. Seeing you this sad makes him snap and he actually goes back to his brother and lectures his brother with the Hokage tone. Tobirama is shocked but at the end it reminds him that you’re more important than any pride he could ever have. It takes time for him to forgive him but slowly you start building your future together.

Yamato : Well he lowkey thought that the idea of breaking up would provide you both with more time to train and increase your already impressive level. But he was so wrong. Now, even more than before all his thoughts were turned toward you. What were you doing ? With who ? Were you sad ? Happy ? Thinking about him too ? Did you still love him ? Would you forgive him if he were to tell you that his idea was the dumbest ever and that he regrets and wants you back ? Then his phone buzzed and he got that frightening text. He, in fact, didn’t understand it the way one normally would. He thought you were rambling and that someone broke into your house and you needed help. He leaves in a rush and once in front of your door kicks it off its hinges. Damn, you panicked because you thought someone was breaking in “Y/n ! Are you okay !?” “Yamato ? My door ?!? The fuck ?!?” Well let’s just say that after repairing it he offered to take you out tonight and catch up around some delicious ramen.

Neji Hyuga : He literally didn’t see it coming. First thing, there was a rumor. And then he found himself single. He is going to investigate to know who the hell did this. When he receives your text though he panics at the clear need in your tone. He uses his Byakugan to look for you throughout the village, to make sure you’re okay. Before going over to your house he takes his time buying you flowers and whatever you might like. But he always keeps an eye on you despite the distance. Then he finally gets to your door and he takes a deep breath before knocking “Hello Y/n. I’ve got you these. I hope we’ll be able to talk this out- oof” you took him in a bone crushing hug almost tackling him to the floor. He shushes you as you cry against his chest saying how sorry you are. Next thing you know he is taking you inside and you’re gonna get spoiled rotten.

Minato Namikaze : Bro is fast, yes. But not so fast anymore when it’s about women’s feelings. And sometimes it’s almost as if he was managing to drown a fish. When you broke up he kinda knew it was going to happen because of how clueless he was most of the time. While reading your text he can’t help but feel sick when he sees how desperately you are pleading him to come. Just like you’be pleaded to him to understand your point that day. He doesn’t lose a sec to rush to your favorite bakery. He takes some snacks and literally throws the money on the counter top. When he arrives in front of your door he almost goes through like a Cartoon “Hey my Love I brought you some- sorry maybe you don’t want me to call you that. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have-” He doesn’t have time to finish speaking because you pounce on him and crash your lips against his. He will need to do a lot of effort to improve his ability to talk in a relationship but this is a good first step.

Itachi Uchiha : That was only a story of pressure and expectation. You thought yourself not at the level of an Uchiha and that was what made your couple burst. He is literally so mad at everyone that participated in putting these thoughts in your sweet mind. He hâtes himself even more for not seeing it coming. When you leave him the voicemail he gets anxious of what may be happening. He almost lost his best friend once and he wasn’t going to lose you too. So he immediately dials your number “Hey Y/n Don’t move an inch you hear me ? I’m coming over right now” And he is true to his word because not even 4 minutes after he is at your doorstep, panting. He takes you gently against him as his face nuzzles against your hair. Your scent helps him ground himself in the present. You didn’t know yet but he was going to change the traditions, for you he would do anything.

Hashirama Senju : He feels ashamed and sad. Sad because he doesn’t want to spend a single day of his life without you. Ashamed because he has always lowkey thought that something like this could only happen to his brother. And here he was getting a lecture from his younger brother, about how he isn’t the confident man he displays himself to be as the Hokage. Tobirama’s words were unnerving and actually pushed Hashirama to get some courage to talk to you. Tobirama’s plan worked just well. He is actually in front of your door when he gets the text. you wonder how the heck he got here so fast. You both talk things out and it gets better for both of you. He reads the text later on and ends up crying “I-I’m so so sorry sniff I didn’t know it made you feel like this sniff” Your fingers comb through his hair as you try to calm him down. He ends up sleeping on your lap with his arms tightly wrapped around you.

He remembered your break-up, and at the time he'd just said something like "Ah, women and their emotions'' He hurried to find you. When you opened the door he almost tackled with a strength he wasn't the first to display in common days. You found yourself pinned against a well as he spoke lowly "I'm here now. what do you need" and when you said you needed him, you didn't know it would end up in one of the best sex you ever shared with him. You're a keeper and he is never going to take your feelings not accordingly.

Hidan : Bro doesn’t care at all when you break up. He’s probably just going to get some bitches to make up for your absence. Of course you’re going to know about it. either by yourself, by other people or him bragging. You wonder what being in a relationship means for him. What this whole thing brought you at the end. Were you just some cum dump ? You needed to know, so you sent the text. He comes over like you requested but he isn’t a liar. He tells you right away that he isn’t the one to fall in love. Having sex with you is just convenient as you know how to touch him and bring him to ecstasy. He isn’t against becoming your sex friend if you’re still up to it “It’s a great reminder to how everything started between us, don’t you think Princess” - those fucking nicknames, he doesn’t how much pain they do to you. Madara Uchiha : He always thought that besides loving him you needed him in your life. Just like he loved and needed you. But after the break up he is not sure anymore. He spends days passing back and forth trying to understand what brought you to this. Your text brings a smile of relief on his lips as he feels his shoulders release some tension. You did need him. So he comes over. And he handles the solution like a good head of a clan. He breeds you. Like that your thoughts will be turned towards another life. A life you’d cherish unconditionally. It will give him time to process things before it actually gets out of hand again. I mean that was the only way right ?

Deidara : For him breaking up was ineluctable. If for him art is an explosion it’s because he manages to find the beauty in things that just can’t stay beautiful forever. It was the same in your relationship. It was intense, full of passion but short. For him that was the perfect amount of time to enjoy the beauty of it, but for you it was just not enough. That’s why you set an ultimatum but to your surprise he agreed on breaking up. After getting your text he came over and reiterated his intention on not wanting to delve into a more serious relationship with you. Though the attraction between you too stays really strong. and it’s not uncommon to see him sneak out of your room in the wee hours “I just can’t get enough of your body. it’s intoxicating” You just can’t help but keep jumping each other’s bones, that’s the way it is for now. No strings attached for now. You just hope that someday he realizes that love is one of the rare things that get even more beautiful as time follows its course.

Camaraderie

Saying you were nervous standing in front of Kakashi’s office was an understatement. Your heart was racing, your throat was dry and there was this twisting feeling in your gut.

You had spent the whole night, fleshing out the sketched designs Pakkun, Yamato and Iruka had raked together, working tireless because every detailed design had felt not worthy enough. The sun had already been painting the sky pink again when you had finally been happy with the designs you had created – five in total, each with their own title: Support, Camaraderie, Amity, Guidance and Future.

Entering the building had proven to be easy as Genma was on guard duty at the Hokage tower with a fellow shinobi whose name was Raidō if you remembered correctly. They had let you pass without asking though judging by Genma’s knowing grin, he knew very well why you came.

As steps echoed through the hall you found the courage to knock on the Hokage’s office door, albeit only to not get caught standing in front of a door like a fool.

“Come in!”, you heard Kakashi call from inside, causing your heart to beat even faster.

With a deep breath you pushed down the handle and entered the room, a forced smile to cover up your nervousness on your lips. You wished you had taken your mask with you to hide the tense state you were in. “Good morning, Lord Sixth.”

Standing in Kakashi’s office felt weird, foreign. While in your studio, you had felt confident, secure, you now felt small, afraid to say something wrong or disrespect the Hokage of your village in his realm.

His eyes widened in surprise and his eyebrows disappeared under his headband in the process when he lifted his gaze. For a second, he was absolutely stunned by your beauty. The time he had met you in your studio you had worn a mask similar to his own the whole time and he didn’t expect to see your bare face now. He gulped.

“Good morning. How can I help you? Or did you make an appointment prior that I missed?” Hastily, he looked around his desk, searching through the stacks of documents. “I’m sorry, Shikamaru must’ve–”

“No-no, Lord Sixth”, you interjected as polite as possible. “I didn’t. This is a rather spontaneous visit and Genma let me in. If it’s inconvenient right now...”

The first time it had slipped his mind, but this time he had heard his title coming from your lips. His heartrate picked up speed and there was this fluttering feeling in his stomach, telling him to not ask you to drop the ‘Lord’ like he did with almost anyone else because it sounded so heavenly coming from you. Still, he put your concerns off with a wave of his hand. “No need and drop the ‘Lord’. So, what can I do for you?”

Nervously, you stepped forward, laying the small stack of paper on his desk. “I think it’s more of what I can do for you. Your request for a cover-up didn’t leave my mind and while I still can’t do this, I may have a compromise.” Fanning out your designs on his desk, you watched his reaction closely, biting your lip. “I’ll preface I don’t know your reasons why you want that cover-up and I don’t need to, as it’s none of my business.”

While listening to you, Kakashi watched you, eyes wide in awe and under his mask you could make out slightly parted lips. A warm stirring danced around his chest. To say he was touched by your gesture would be an understatement. Never had he expected someone to care about him so much to stay up all night – he could tell from the dark circles under your eyes – and draw up drafts like these and especially not someone he barely knew.

“I asked a few of your friends about motives that could remind you of the good things in your life and these are what they came up with. They didn’t tell me anything about the meanings or stories behind them, as – again – it’s none of my business, so I don’t know how appropriate they are.”

Taking the first sheet of paper, he chuckled. “Now I understand why Genma asked to borrow Pakkun yesterday. I figured the ‘training purpose’ was only an excuse.”

Support. It was the one thematizing his ninken, the one where the flame was supposed to be surrounded by his ninken’s paw prints and wafts of mist would waver in the background whenever the tattoo came into contact with chakra. However, because he had been the only one available yesterday, Pakkun had tried to imitate the sizes of the others’ paws, resulting in a very funny looking representation of Bull’s rather big paw print. It was the simplest of the designs and yet watching Pakkun put his paw in ink and then on the paper like a stamp had been a lot of fun.

“It’s not the final design.” A sheepish smile tugged on your lips. “I intended all of your ninken to give me a paw print of them, but we had only Pakkun and he tried his best. We would do it properly in case you’d like to have this one.”

Kakashi chuckled again. “I doubt Bull’s paw print would look any less messy. He may look big and intimidating and his combat skills are nothing to forget about but he’s an absolute softie at heart and a little bit clumsy sometimes.”

The adoration and love seeping from his words and the glim in his eyes when talking about Bull made your heart melt. Undoubtedly, his ninken were more than summons for him, they were his companions, his friends.

The next one up was Camaraderie, centered around the team from his genin days – Team Minato. Named after the team’s lead Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, it consisted of him, Kakashi and two more people named Rin and Obito. Prior to your brainstorming with Pakkun, Yamato and Iruka, you hadn’t heard either of these names, but you didn’t dare to ask about them.

The swirl of the flame blended in with the circular pommel of a rare, three-bladed kunai. Its longest blade pointed down to the elbow where it stuck in a wheat field, a pair of orange goggles lying next to it on the ground. The wheat field filled the background and the ears would sway in the wind, glistering in soft, purple accents.

This one tugged on Kakashi’s heartstrings. You had said his friends had come up with the motives to remind him of the good things in life. Sighing internally, he brushed his fingers over the paper. All of them were dead, partly even because of him, so how was this a reminder of good things?

Nevertheless, he wouldn’t be who or where he was today without them. Each of them had influenced him whether he liked it not: be it Minato who taught him about teamwork, Obito who lent him his Sharingan and showed him how important comrades are, or Rin who shaped the whole shinobi world through her bravery. He wasn’t sure if he should thank or curse them, because who knows how things would’ve gone had just one thing happened differently. What if Rin hadn’t thrown herself into his Chidori? What if Obito had not saved him, sparing him from getting crushed in the process? The answers to these questions would remain unknown forever.

To stop himself before he would start shedding tears over his old team, he put the sketch to the side, sparing the first one another quick glance to warm his heart, and turned his attention to the third sheet.

Amity. You chuckled, remembering where it began. Originally, Iruka had joked about putting their faces in one of the designs, leading to them grimacing their weirdest expressions – Yamato was particularly good at making intimidating ones – before Pakkun turned serious again and brought up the point how the idea of showing Kakashi he wasn’t alone, he had friends who were always with him, was actually not bad.

“Why not show him we’re having his back?”, he had suggested.

So, they collected motives associated with them or representing their names and in the end, you had designed a huge tree, the flame worked into its top, reaching down to the trunk. By the roots you had sketched a little lake – or rather a pond – with a dolphin jumping out of it. A soft, red aura which would billow perfectly surrounded the tree as well as the pond and the dolphin.

From the color composition, this one was your favorite. The bright tones of green, blue and red went so well with each other and you felt pride filling your heart when Kakashi’s lips curved into a smile under his mask.

“At least it’s not their faces”, he joked, unknowing of Iruka’s first proposal.

You covered your mouth with the back of your hand to fight the laugh bubbling in your throat. For a moment you considered telling him, but ultimately decided against it. Maybe one day you would, after a few drinks, someday far in the future.

Noticing your amused grin, Kakashi raised an eyebrow questioningly. “May I ask what’s so funny?”

“Nothing.”

A small chuckle left his lips, evidence of your missing credibility, though he didn’t press the topic further, figuring you had your reasons, and instead turned his attention to the second to the last design you had fleshed out.

Guidance. You could’ve told this one was about his own genin team, his students, even without having your three helpers talk about it. After your encounter with the sketches from your dad, you figured the Sharingan Iruka had suggested had to be Sasuke Uchiha’s. It was placed right under the flame’s lower tip and would switch between the normal Sharingan and its advanced version, the Mangekyō Sharingan. The cherry blossom tree in the background was an obvious reference to Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno, with the Sharingan in the trunk and a treetop made of typical cherry blossoms and narutomaki as blossoms. However, the one thing you couldn’t explain was the meaning of the trunk and roots resolving into drops of black ink, dripping down to the elbow.

If asked which one of these five designs was your favorite, you would say this one. The sketch had been drawn quickly and fleshing out had went smoother than butter, because you were overflowing with inspiration. While the others had needed multiple attempts to finish, leading to your paper basket overflowing with crumpled papers, you had nailed this one on the first try. So, when Kakashi’s gaze turned loving and his fingertips brushed softly over the motive, your chest swelled with pride once again and you couldn’t fight the wide grin tugging on the corners of your mouth.

Examining the last one, Kakashi got confused. For the first four, one look had been enough for him to know which meaning stood behind each of the components, what theme they followed, who they represented. This one, however, was cryptic, only rising question marks in his head.

Future. It was rather simple: a big paper crane behind the flame, the stem of a leaf shaped like Konoha’s symbol in its beak and more paper cranes, small enough to be mistaken for weirdly shaped stars, following behind the rump.

An uneasy feeling spread in your chest as his brows furrowed. Did he not like it? Your mind and heart started racing. Somehow you were nervous about his opinion on this one, probably because it was the only one you had created without his friends. In the middle of the night, while fleshing out Camaraderie, a thought had flashed through your mind. What if you focused on the future instead of the past or present? What if you focused on the impact he had on the village?

So, you had collected things he had accomplished during and since the war, searching for a collective symbol you could put them under, resulting in the paper crane.

Overall, you were happy with the works: they were unique, creative meaningful. They were in your own style, though you could see your dad’s influence as – just like he did – you had left a fine line of uncolored skin around the Anbu mark and under every design, you had written ‘チームワーク’– ‘teamwork’.

Kakashi had to take a deep breath to fight the lump in his throat and the tears burning behind his eyes. “Wow”, he breathed out. “This is stunning.” He shook his head, correcting himself, “I mean, they’re all amazing... I don’t– I don’t know what to say...”

“You don’t have to decide now. Take your time and just come to me when you’ve made your decision.” You cleared your throat, realizing you might’ve crossed a line. “If you want one at all, that is. Of course, you don’t have to get one, it’s still your body and I didn’t mean to tell you what to do. You’re still the Hokage, so I apologize for overstepping and–”

The rest of your ramble got caught in your throat when Kakashi smiled at you, his eyes forming crescents. “It’s okay. I know how you mean it, so you didn’t overstep.”

The breath you had held slowly left you lips, a wave of relief washing over you.

“And I don’t need more time. I’d like this one.” He held up Guidance. “But with one more thing, please? If it’s feasible?” His words came out hesitantly and there was this look in his eyes: prepared to be rejected but still hopeful and with a certain desperation glistering in the iris.

You could only hope he wouldn’t ask for something impossible, because you didn’t trust yourself to reject him again – especially not with these puppy eyes of him. You would bet a week’s pay his ninken taught him. Tilting your head, you beckoned him to continue.

“There is one more person I’d like to honor in this tattoo. His name is Yamato and he’s part of the team too and deserves a spot too. So, would it be possible to add maybe a few wooden beams to the tree? Representing his mokuton?”

“I’ve never seen a mokuton jutsu, so I’d need something for reference, a photo or something, but it shouldn’t be impossible.”

His muscles visibly relaxed in relief and the smile on his face shone through his mask. “This won’t be a problem. Can I just call you then?”

For some reason you heart started racing again and your cheeks heat up. Hoping Kakashi wouldn’t notice your flustered state was pointless, he did anyway. It amused him until his body reacted the same way and he himself was flustered all of a sudden, however this slipped your mind as his mask did an excellent job at covering his reddened cheeks.

“You can call or drop by. Both is fine.”

Several moments of awkward silence passed, both of you clearing your throats as if you wanted to say something and then looking at each other, waiting for the other to say something.

“I’ll be leaving then”, you said after each of you had cleared your throats for the second time. “I suppose you're busy and I don’t want to keep you from doing your work – you’re the Hokage, the village needs you.”

Kakashi nodded. “Thank you. I appreciate the time and effort you have put into these. They’re amazing and I’m glad to have such talented people in Konoha.”

His compliment only added to your flustered state and you hurried out the door, leaning against the wall to take a deep breath and calm down your still racing heart. To no avail though: Genma still gave you a knowing smirk when you passed him at the entrance to the Academy where the Hokage’s office was located.
