How to Break Into Software Development as a Non-Coder: Tips and Tricks
The software development industry is booming, with a projected growth of 25% by 2032, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. But what if you're not interested in coding? Don’t worry—there are plenty of non-coding careers in software development that are trending in 2025, such as AI-driven product management, no-code development, and agile project coordination. Here’s how you can break into this field without writing a single line of code.
1. Identify Your Strengths and Align Them with Non-Coding Roles
Software development isn’t just about coding—it’s about solving problems and creating value. Roles like product manager, UX/UI designer, and business analyst are in high demand. For instance, low-code/no-code platforms like Bubble and Webflow are trending, enabling non-coders to build apps using drag-and-drop interfaces. Assess your skills—are you great at communication, design, or organization? These can lead you to roles like a Scrum Master or technical writer.
2. Upskill with Trending Certifications
Certifications can give you a competitive edge. In 2025, AI and automation are reshaping software development, and non-coders can leverage this trend. Consider certifications like:
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) for agile project management.
Google UX Design Certificate for user experience design.
ISTQB Certification for software testing. These skills align with trending keywords like agile methodology, user-centric design, and quality assurance automation, making you a valuable asset.
3. Learn the Basics of Software Development Processes
You don’t need to code, but understanding the software development lifecycle (SDLC) is crucial. Familiarize yourself with terms like DevOps, cloud computing, and SaaS (Software as a Service)—all trending in 2025. This knowledge helps you communicate effectively with developers and stakeholders, especially in roles like business analyst or project coordinator.
4. Network and Leverage No-Code Communities
Networking is key to breaking into software development. Join communities on platforms like LinkedIn or Reddit, where no-code/low-code discussions are trending. Engage with professionals in digital transformation roles, as companies increasingly adopt no-code solutions to speed up development. Attend virtual events or webinars on AI-powered software tools to connect with industry leaders.
5. Build a Portfolio with No-Code Tools
Showcase your skills by creating projects using no-code platforms. For example, design a mock app using Figma (a trending UX design tool) or build a simple website with Webflow. This demonstrates your ability to contribute to software development, even without coding. Highlight these projects on your resume to attract recruiters looking for non-technical talent in tech.
6. Stay Updated on Industry Trends
The software industry evolves rapidly. In 2025, generative AI, cybersecurity, and SaaS solutions are dominating the landscape. Non-coders can contribute by focusing on areas like AI ethics (ensuring responsible AI use) or SaaS marketing. Follow blogs, podcasts, and X posts with hashtags like #NoCode, #AIinSoftware, and #TechCareers to stay informed.
ConclusionBreaking into software development as a non-coder is entirely possible in 2025, thanks to trending opportunities like no-code platforms, AI-driven roles, and agile methodologies. Focus on your strengths, upskill with relevant certifications, and build a portfolio to stand out. The tech world needs diverse talent—your unique skills can help shape the future of software development!

PlayStation State of Play Announcements
PlayStation debuted their inaugural State of Play live earlier this week. There were plenty of great announcements like new games, updates coming to existing games, release dates and more. There's lots to talk about, so let's get right into it.
First up is Marvel’s Iron Man VR for PlayStation VR. Coming later this year, Iron Man VR is being published by PlayStation Worldwide Studios and developed by Camouflaj. Unfortunately the trailer shown was not gameplay, but it did give an idea of how the game will feel. And it was pretty fun to watch.
Next, we got a look at some new features for a game I personally am super-excited for, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. First off, players will be able to turn Crash, Coco, or Cortex into their old, 1999 polygonal body. There is also a “retro” themed track. We also got a quick look at 4-player split-screen! Oh, the nostalgic feels!
Ahem!
Sorry about that. The following that nostalgia trip, we were shown a glimpse at the upcoming future update for No Man’s Sky, titled BEYOND. One of the biggest new features shown was a new VR mode! VR appears to be a good fir to No Man’s Sky, bit that’s not the only new thing coming in BEYOND update. The base-building seems to be getting an upgrade as well, with a terrain editor.
Worldwide Studios and Robot Entertainment debuted their new game, ReadySet Heroes! Described as “a fast-paced, multiplayer dungeon crawler with a twist,” ReadySet Heroes pits players against each other in a 2v2 race to the end of a randomly generated dungeon. Once both teams arrive at the final arena, it becomes a winner-take-all fight for the loot! ReadySet Heroes is set to launch later this year.
Back to PSVR, we finally got an update on Blood and Truth, the London Studio PSVR game announced at Paris Games Week 2017. The new trailer gives the game a very cinematic feel, with more than a few familiar (celebrity) faces showing up in what seem to be prominent roles. Blood and Truth is shaping up to be than a VR shooter, it looks like it’ll be a narrative adventure. More than that, we even got a firm release date: May 28!
A short montage of VR offerings coming this year followed. All the games and release windows follow:
Mini-Mech Mayhem - 02.18
Jupiter and Mars - 04.22
Falcon Age - 04.09
Trover Saves the Universe - 05.31
Everybody’s Golf VR - 05.21
Table of Tales - 04.16
Vacation Simulator - 06.18
Devolver Digital and developer NOCODE showed off a science-fiction thriller (see scary and creepy) game OBSERVATION. As a station floats through space, you watch a young astronaut as she discovers what happened the the original crew aboard. The trailer reveals that you will be playing the A.I. SAM that controls the station.
In keeping with the creepy theme, a new entry into the Five Nights at Freddy’s series is coming for those foolish enough to play it in PlayStation VR. Five Nights at Freddy’s VR Help Wanted is a mix of remixed levels from the original games, as well as all-new levels to give you nightmares. Expect to get scared senseless later this spring.
The next trailer gave us a few of the story details in Concrete Genie. Besides a new trailer and confirmation of a PSVR mode, there weren’t many more new details given. Be ready to paint the town to life this fall.
Following that up was Days Gone, the long awaited, highly anticipated new game from bend Studios. We got a good look at some of the story cinematics, as well as a short gameplay trailer. Outside of what you can glean from the trailer, not much new info explicitly stated, but I’m sure the internet-sleuths will look through that trailer with a fine-tooth comb. It’ll be fun to see what they come up with ahead of the game’s April 26 launch date.
Finally, the showcase ended with yet another trailer for Mortal Kombat 11. This time, 3 more returning combatants (Kombatants?) were revealed: Jax, Kung Lao, and Liu Kang. The new trailer also gave us a quick look at some of the fighters fighting past/future versions of themselves. For those interested in the Mortal Kombat lore, this one looks like it’ll have enough of a story to keep you sated. I’ll be taking a crash refresher course before April 23 gets here.
That’ll do it for the inaugural State of Play from PlayStation. A pretty good one to set the bar, i think. It seems they plan to do a few more of these throughout the year, so it’ll be interesting to see what else PlayStation has in store as the years rolls on. In the meantime, how do you all feel about these games? Anything tickle your fancy? Let me know in the comments or on social media across the internet @OmegaSpider227.
