Why do you think the team behind MakorraWeek (messymosaic etc) are annoying bitches?
I remember joining a Makorra discord a few years ago & I got banned for posting in the wrong channel too much. Which made me just go "Wow, that's pretty silly but whatever. Guess they lost out on the most vocal Makorra shipper in their discord" 🤣
The problem I have with MakorraWeek being run by them specifically is that it really feels incredibly disappointing. Mainly due to the fact it's on their discord & doesn't really get much support.
MakorraWeek could be amazing just like ZutaraWeek even though it'll never be anywhere near as big.
Hope you're doing well & as a Day 1 Makorra shipper, I'm glad you didn't have to experience the mass destruction of an entire fanbase just because they didn't want two pretty girls with zero chemistry & barely a friendship to all of a sudden be "in love" to be together.
I wanna point out before I go that Makorrasami should've been the ending we got instead. BOTH GIRLS LOVE MAKO SINCE DAY 1 LIKE WTF AHH
*clears throat* anyway, Makorra Forever & I'll always love that their relationship is the most developed & beautiful in the show
Funny cuz I'm behind of the Makorra Week team also one of the admin of that gc and I'm actually the one who asked to kicked you out lmao So if you keep any petty hatred it should be towards me only then and no one else.
Guess the selective memory is hitting cuz the 'silly' reason in question was *checks notes* you sending multiple times child p🌽 art and other weird stuff unprovoked- and I remember it very well since I was the one who had to personally delete ALL the nasty things you were sending. Also had people telling me how uncomfortable you were made them feel to the point they were ghosting the gc.. so don't worry, you're definitely not a big loss so deflate that big ass head of yours ❤️
So yeah before misjudging a group of people you don't know from Adam and Eve- especially people who are actually reviving Makorra by working their asses off to create new contents, building a safe space and organise multiple events on their free time for this ship enjoyers, then get yourself checked cuz you look so dumb rn

You couldn't do a straightforward Human Nature plot set in the 12th Doctor era bc if 12 got fobwatched Clara would immediately steal his identity. Missy would also steal his identity. Absolutely insane Doctorfication possibilities.
Also, 12's forgotten memories canonically manifest as songs AND he's faceblind, so he wouldn't even have a dramatic dream journal full of half-remembered portraits, he'd just be hanging out in his university office shredding guitar solos while Bill (who he just met) is like "Wow, sick riff Professor Smith!" and he's like "Thanks, it's called I Dreamt I Rode a Dinosaur."

—university rival! sae who saw you struggling to write your research paper due that exact night because you had procrastinated once again. you had gone to the library hoping to pour over journals that could help validate your findings but when words would usually flow effortlessly, today didn't seem to be your day. he saw this and mocked you for being so disorganised. but what you didn't know was that he had in fact found all the useful journals and checked them out. so when you drifted off to sleep after a long day of bullshitting your way through the paper he took your computer and wrote out your essay for you. it's not because he likes you! no, of course not! he just wants to see if he can beat his own grade.
—university rival! sae who buys you the wrong drink on purpose and leaves it on your desk every morning with a flirty message. you never found out it who it was but you had a feeling it was him. and if it was him you knew the flirty messages meant absolutely nothing. he was just doing this to distract you. however, he was foolish to think that his stupid flirty messages would do anything but make your heart palpitate a bit. nothing special...
—university rival! sae who hates when you bother to help out fellow classmates. he understands that you're a sociable and friendly person but he can't stand to see you so close to other people. no, it's not that. he just hates how you're getting extra tutoring experience that could help you in the future! yes, that's definitely it! so he pushes you aside with an arrogant remark telling you how he's better at that subject so he's probably also a better tutor. right??
—university rival! sae who purposefully kisses up to your professor so he can be paired up with you for a group project that's worth about 40% of your entire grade. no, it's not because he likes you?? it's not because he wants to spend time with you?? how absurd, it's obviously so he can sabotage your grade and finally be the undisputed number 1. after all, he is a horrible person.
—university rival! sae can't stop thinking about you every waking second. does he like you? god no. you're just so annoying, always debating with him in class. always trying to prove your points and speaking your mind. why would it be an admirable quality as your professor puts it? you're so annoying, always annoying him. gosh what's happened to his vocabulary. why can't he stop thinking about your annoying face, and annoying laugh, annoying everything?

can we talk about how perfectly this season’s finale explores the emotional fall out of last season’s though??
just because morty’s fear is rick not caring enough about him to protect him or give him affection doesn’t necessarily make it true. I think there’s enough instances in the show at this point to demonstrate that rick actually does care enough about morty to do these things when push comes to shove — hell in the episode itself rick beginning to hug morty back does in fact happen in real life even if morty stops him.
but here’s the thing, after the short period where morty actually did feel cared for by rick, where rick protected him and listened to him and gave him affection (and very specifically gave him hugs) only for it to be revealed that rick was actually a fucking robot the whole time, of course morty’s afraid he’d never do any of that shit in real life. of course morty is inherently distrustful and disbelieving of rick being affectionate towards him. the last time he was it was literally all a lie born out of rick not wanting to deal with him.
that whole robot thing was way more traumatic than morty ever let on but he pushed it down to help rick with finding and killing rick prime. and now that they’ve done that all that unresolved trauma has spilled out.

"Oh, She's more than smart," Says Beetee. "She's intuitive." We all turn to look at Beetee, who seems to be coming back to life. "She can sense things before anyone else. Like a canary in one of your coal mines." (Catching Fire, page 399)
Something something talking about Wiress brings him back to life,, Something something him trusting her with every aspect of their plan even when hes hurt and shes lost,, calling her a canary,, ough

i have a special place in my heart for "show don't tell" storytelling, especially in comic books. comics are a visual medium!
#tim drake#jack drake#comic ref in description#this is the last panel of the comic#and something i really like about it is that i feel like... it has a certain amount of respect for the reader?#you might not notice/get the irony of the batsignal showing up behind them#and the way the batsignal foreshadows that actually this /isn't/ a resolved happy ending#because the conflict between bruce and jack - and more directly between tim's values/priorities vs. his dad's -#hasn't actually been resolved even though they're both sorry and hugging#which means the conflict will inevitably occur again and again and again#which is a very clever grace note here#but if you don't notice that's okay! the comic isn't panicking trying to spell it out for you#if you catch it it's fine and if you don't catch it that's also fine#it has something that i really like about a lot of older comics and sometimes find missing in new ones (at least the ones abt the blorbos)#which is that it assumes that the /readers/ can realize things abt the situation that the /characters/ don't#i read both tim and his dad as both perfectly sincere in this reconciliation - they're caught up in the moment#and physically neither of them can see the batsignal#but we-the-readers can see both the batsignal and the looming future conflicts it implies even though they don't#the narrative isn't telling you what to think! no character emerged to announce 'But In Fact Tim You Still Have A Problem!'#instead the artist has just left the batsignal there and let you make the obvious inferences ON YOUR OWN#similarly in nightwing 110 (another one of my favorites) there's a conversation between dick and tim where they're both lying#if you're only a nightwing reader you know dick is lying but you probably won't figure out that tim is lying (or at least not the extent)#but if you /do/ read tim's comics then you understand what's going on in a way that neither of the characters do#there's just a general understanding that the characters are not fully self-aware nor do they perfectly understand each other#plus the gradual / slow-build / layered conflict#tim's mixed loyalties between bruce and his dad are a constant background slow burn tension#dick's complicated feelings about loving tim but also feeling a little threatened by him are also a low-key thread in the nightwing comics#the writers don't need to have a surprise! sudden! fight! nor do they need all-fluff-all-the-time#instead these tensions are mostly dormant except when they get exacerbated by extreme situations#there are plenty of things that 90s comics do *not* handle well but the character voices and longform style always draw me back <3

Do you mind if I share some speculations on our favorite bug man?
I think you're right in that Howdy has caught onto something being off about their world. But he can't just jump up and tell everyone that they are living in a simulation. So he has to watch and wait for everyone else to realize it in their own time.
But
In his heart, he is a lovable asshole. And an asshole he will be!
Sally got close to figuring out that the food are props, but it hasn't clicked yet. Until then, the lable on the "mashed potatoes" is just a marketing ploy.
And sure, Howdy knows the blowing balls are made of foam, but Eddie doesn't know that! So Howdy sends him off, watching him struggle to carry something that weighs next to nothing.
Maybe if they interact with enough props, they'll catch on, too? In the meantime, Howdy is gonna have fun messing with everyone.
ohhhh i Do like this interpretation! where he's actually trying to clue them in, not just going "well. this might as well happen". and doing it his own... uh... Special way....

You know, this is low-hanging fruit, but one of the things that was really interesting to me about the Barry finale was that in the dramatization of his story, they made a point to make him a renegade, an individual who thinks for himself and won't relinquish his autonomy. They put a tagline in his mouth that would be guaranteed to make it into any big-budget action trailer and play well with the hyper-individualist macho crowd that would watch this film from inside their bunkers--something like "I don't feel like following orders anymore"--but that is the absolute antithesis of Barry's entire being.
His whole sense of self is distorted around his need to follow orders and his desperation to not have to think for himself; when he starts to try to think for himself, it goes terribly almost every time and he digs himself deeper and deeper, making terrible decision after terrible decision until he can't come back from them anymore, if he ever could. Because he's never known how. He never learned. And that was never a problem within the trajectory of his life--in fact, it was preferable.
Barry sees himself as some kind of empty shell, and so does Fuches for a long time; it's convenient for Fuches and just a hollow truth for Barry that he doesn't give much thought. He's numb. He's tired. But you're not left with the impression that this is a new state of being for him--he's been a vessel for so long that he doesn't necessarily even feel the slide into major depression that follows his discharge. That's why he did so well in a rigid, hierarchical organization where independent thought is discouraged.
Anyway, it's just an interesting contrast. One of the most reinforced aspects of his character is his lack of self-direction and autonomy--either that he has none or that he doesn't know what to do with what little he has and so does nothing with it--but that doesn't play into the marketable fantasy that they're exploiting in-universe and satirizing IRL, and in fact it's inconceivable to the people writing the film because, to them, it makes him weak and discomfiting. They don't really know Barry; no one talked to him. It's based on hearsay and what they imagine that situation to be like. And one of the things they imagine is that of course this proud soldier would chafe against authority--that's what they would do, that's what their audience wants to believe they would do. It's what they do in these movies; it's satisfying, popular, and drives the narrative more than a drone would.
It's romanticized in the same way that the violence is glorified. He's out for himself while simultaneously upholding an incompatible social ideal, and this dissonance doesn't trouble them (for obvious reasons--namely because the rules don't apply to them, but also because they, too, lack the critical thinking skills that Barry does. They believe in rules, but for other people; they believe in consequences, but for other people--like we see Barry demonstrating when he wants to do the right thing, but he convinces himself that he should get away with horrific deeds because he's special, because he means well).
Meanwhile, the demographic it's marketed toward probably leans, ironically, more authoritarian, while unironically harboring this power fantasy that Barry stands in direct contrast to. He's reliably obedient. He doesn't question authority, for a long time. He doesn't think critically, only strategically and usually only in service of someone else's goals. And that's about the long and short of the demographic who would be really into the film. But Barry wants to believe that he's more than that--he grows to believe this, dissatisfied and trying to break free--and so does the audience.
And so Barry, who always did what he was told and wanted to be led by the hand through life for as long as he could and who was so profoundly lost for so long, is immortalized as an independent, self-actualized, decisive person overflowing with ambition and initiative--someone who forges his own path and knows what he's searching for. He's an otherwise self-reliant guy who's lost his way, not a guy forcibly ejected from his comfortable niche and struggling to be a person outside of it.

G be normal challenge (impossible)
ok I've been going thru like the last 6 years of my art and finding some things I wanna save for reference but definitely DO NOT wanna post on main. so into the trashpile (this blog) they go :y
that feel when you and your hot nerd monster boyfriend are working in his basement lab one day and he just POOFs out of existence right before your eyes??
so you spend months trying to figure out where he went, trying anything to get him back, sleeping next to the device he was working on when it happened, just in case.
then one day, as suddenly as he vanished, he reappears- except... wuh-oh! he came back wrong. dun dun dun
he insists that despite everything, it's still him. your beloved W.D.
he talks like him, smells like him. even looks the same, aside from some... glaring differences... but claims what befell him in his absence is to blame for all that. although you desperately want to believe him, something in your gut screams "RUN".
maybe it's the way he's all too at ease with what was ostensibly a horrible ordeal for both of you, or the unnerving way he seems to delight in your distress, your pain, your tears. that's not the W.D. you remember.
will you stay and persevere? will you give up on the monster you love? do you have a choice? could this guy just not be a freak for like 5 minutes if his life depended on it? we'll find out someday maybe if I ever draw/write it out
