I know that this is very silly and unimportant and I understand why people do this, but I just do not like it when animals that cannot physically produce emotional tears are depicted in clear emotional distress, with tears.
I know that these animals are anthropomorphised (the broader sense, not the furry sense), but for some, unknown reason, this really bugs me.

she says he won't let her get a dog, which is fine, because they're in an apartment, and that's the kind of thing people say about their partners. he won't let me get a dog. and you're at a dinner party and you tilt your head a little to the side just like that dog he won't let her get, because is this the thing that's going to upset you? you don't know every corner of their relationship, she could be joking, they could have had so many healthy conversations about the dog, right, and maybe she's not letting herself get the dog because of money and time and whatever. but, like, she did say let
and she wants to move away from his hometown and he wants to stay and then he tells you with a wink and a conspiratorial stage whisper don't worry i'll convince her and she laughs about it - so clearly this is something they laugh about. but you do just stand there and stare at him like what the fuck, man. you can't say what you want to say which is why do you get the final say on everything because they're both obviously aware of the other person's stance on this and have obviously had private conversations about it and what are you going to do about it except make a scene and then he'll be mad at you and call you one of those bitches behind your back and she'll cut you off, which is a loss that doesn't feel worth it just because he makes you a little skeeved out every 3rd comment
and they both agree he just isn't the type to get flowers which is fine because everyone shows love differently, and are you really gonna judge someone based on their sense of individual relationship responsibility? maybe he's constantly cleaning her car and writing her poems and making her furniture or something. maybe she doesn't even like flowers and this is perfect, actually. and no you couldn't date him, obviously, ew; but like, she tells you she's happy. you almost send her a tiktok that says don't be 25 and the cool girl that doesn't need anything, you'll hate not getting flowers at 30, but that's like, starting drama & you shouldn't start drama needlessly.
and you're a little older than her but not so much older you can pull the whole trust me on this one babe thing and besides that wouldn't have worked anyway (when does it ever) and besides you have trauma so you and your therapist both agree that you're always looking for a problem even when there isn't one. and you tell yourself that just because you see them for 15 minutes every month does not mean you can identify every single red flag based on a single shitty half-joking(?) comment
and besides, what are you going to do? she says i actually wanted another stand mixer but thankfully he stops me when i'm about to spend too much money and you're standing there like are you okay? is this normal? is this just something people say? and again - what are you going to do?
to your therapist you try to language it - it's not, like, any of my business. but sometimes, doesn't it feel like - you should do something. there's got to be something, right? you've tried dropping little hints but they sail right through and you've tried having a single serious conversation and she got upset because why does it matter to you, yes it's different but we're happy, it doesn't need to make sense to you and you're like. really unwilling to push a boundary about it anymore; because the truth is that you know logically it shouldn't matter to you, as long as both parties are happy.
and besides, you've been wrong before. it's just... like, every time you see them both, something else happens, some kind of shiver down your spine like do you even hear each other when you talk. it's their strange, bickering orbit. just the way he's on his phone through dinner or watching sports instead of helping in the kitchen or, fuck, another one of these little throwaway comments he makes about we'll see about that, babe. she laughs when he calls her passions stupid shit and meanwhile she gets him tickets to see the knicks and he tells you well at least she's smart about something and still! it's none of your business.
you say get the dog anyway and she laughs. like, this is is you being funny. and not you saying - no really. get the dog. get the dog and get out of here. pack up and start running.

It's fine for your transition goals to be a man who wears dresses or a woman who wears tuxes or a person of indeterminate or queer gender wearing literally any combination thereof (or lack of combination, for that matter)
The point of transition is not to fit yourself into the cookie-cutter boxes. The point is for you to be able to exist as you. There is nothing wrong with being a "stereotype" or looking "queer". You are radiant and amazing <3

Anyone else up thinking about the implications of thanergy and thalergy in tlt with respect to their names ….. like thanergy is obvious, it comes from the Greek θανατος, which means death, and yeah ofc that tracks, it’s death energy. But thalergy is the opposite and is used to mean living energy/life energy, but.. as near as I can tell it comes from the Greek θαλασσα (in Homeric, or θαλαττα in attic) which DOESNT mean life, it means OCEAN ……… what does it MEEAAANNNNN………. Why did she do that ..

love the thing where neal is always 100% on board to yes-and whatever weird bullshit thing mozz is doing even when he doesn't think it's serious like. mozz thinks his diner crush has been kidnapped because of a book she recommended him? and he's frantically explaining all of this in an elevator and trying to keep anybody else out whenever it stops?? okay well that all seems a little overwrought but by god neal's gonna play along and be claustrophobic or just farted or something so nobody else will come inside

Trust me I know this is a reach, but remember in The Cruel Prince when Jude was high on faerie fruit and Cardan told Jude to kiss his foot? Well, Jude adds that he’s wearing leather shoes and I found this,
“During the leather tanning process, salt is among many of the preservatives used to get your leather in shape. It's got a place, deep, deep inside your leather.”
If anyone doesn’t know, salt is the antidote for humans to rid of faerie fruit effects. So what I’m saying is, I wonder if this was another one of his attempts to sober her from the effects?

Hc that the monsters all go to the dentist and everyone expects Andrew to have a bunch of cavities bc of his sugary diet, but when he comes out he blandly informs them all that the dentist said he had the cleanest teeth she had seen all day. Meanwhile, Kevin somehow has two cavities, so they have to wait around for him to get them filled. Kevin thinks he's fine bc surely Andrew has more cavities than him, but alas, he is wrong. When he finds out just how wrong he is, he straight up doesn't talk to Andrew for five hours.

last thought before i sleep i Do fear that reading nothing but fanfiction for 4 years when i was 14-18 severely stunted my brain. this is not to say that fanfiction is bad: theres fanfics that are extremely well written, which are markers of any good authors out there- but since it relies so heavily on building off of a foundation and reforming the same work over and over they tend to follow a certain flow and pattern in plot, the way characters interact, the way dialogue and action intersect, etc etc. ive been trying to read more books now but i still find it easier to read through fanfic because instinctively, i know what to expect going forward because of my existing knowledge of the characters and the fanon. you have to wash out your brain and prepare to engage anew when youre reading a new book, which takes more effort the longer youre away from it. but thats just me and i can write a fucking paper on the ways fic marketing has its own popular checks and standards as well

Everyone always talks about how much Spencer loves his mother, Diana, but the relationship just hurts when you think about it.
Here Spencer is after having an incredibly long day. He flew from Las Vegas back to Quantico, figured out an extremely hard puzzle, found out his mother was in danger - then had to admit his mom is mentally ill and that he could be too one day. His mom is rude to him about his body, letters, and over the fact she was flown there to save her life. He then failed a negotiation and a man killed himself in front of him. He was hurt by a bomb, caught on fire, and helped rescue a victim while escaping a burning house.
And then after all that, he stands in front of his mom - exhausted, charred, vulnerable - and he doesn't tell her how he was hurt or about what he did. He says how she helped save Rebecca's life and Diana doesn't even look up.
Diana doesn't give any indication that she even knows who Spencer is and she doesn't ask about the ash all over him. It's clearly nighttime and she asks if it's lunchtime. She doesn't remember that she read the books she asked him about to him.
Then Spencer, even though he is so tired, has to help his mom on the flight back across the United States, while reading to her and taking care of her while Spencer has no one taking care of him.
And this is medicated, well taken care of, Diana. If this is Diana on an alright day, on medicine - what was she like when Spencer was a child.
