COVID vaccine status update
That transition will require working through regulatory issues, market dynamic issues and equity issues, he explained.
"Right now, everybody can walk into a CVS and get a vaccine. I want to make sure that when we make this transition, we don't end up at a point where nobody can get a vaccine because we didn't get the transition right," he said.
A deal for $10 billion in additional COVID funds did not pass Congress this year, so funding was shifted from increasing testing supplies and protective equipment in the national stockpile to buying updated vaccine boosters that offer some protection against new variants of the virus, such as the Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5, CNN reported.
Those are expected in early to mid-September.
"I would like to get to a point where every adult in America who wants a vaccine can get one. I'm hopeful we will be there. We're not quite there yet in terms of how many vaccine doses we've been able to buy," Jha said.
"One of the things we've spent a lot of time thinking about in the last many months ... is getting us out of that acute emergency phase where the U.S. government is buying the vaccines [treatments, and tests]" Jha said.
"My hope is that in 2023, you're going to see the commercialization of almost all of these products. Some of that is actually going to begin this fall, in the days and weeks ahead. ..." he added, CNN reported.

The booster news is good but the first couple of paragraphs are worrying. Massive potential to widen inequality and harm people who are already without means to access healthcare, thereby creating a domino effect where reinfection just keeps cycling and putting millions more out of work and into states of disability. I don't understand how Jha "hopes" to "commercialize everything" and still somehow keep any of these things accessible to people.
I don't have proper language for this. Frankly it's all been absolutely fucked.

“It was something adults said all the time. “You'll change your mind when you're older. You never know what might happen. You'll feel differently one day.” As if we teenagers knew so little about ourselves that we could wake up one day a completely different person. As if the person we are right now doesn't matter at all.”

Dr. Jha Says This Worst Case Scenario for COVID Keeps Him Up at Night
Dr. Jha Says This Worst Case Scenario for COVID Keeps Him Up at Night
You’d be hard pressed to find someone who wasn’t over COVID pandemic at this point, but even two years in, it’s clearer than ever the virus is not done with us. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. is still seeing an average of more than 100,000 new infections every single day, despite an 8.5 percent decrease in cases this week compared to the week prior.…

I was talking to someone about Loveless the other day and they were going on about how 'sad it was' and whilst I get it's not a happy book etc, it's not really supposed to be sad in that way. It's supposed to be a book about accepting who you are, and learning that's its okay to be who you are, and aro ace people shouldn't be excluded from that
What is sad is that I forget how many people still view aro and/or ace people + anyone on the spectrum as 'broken' or as 'missing something' or 'lonely' or 'depressed'. Like we are NOT broken for god sake and my depression is definitely not from being ace. I'm not saying it's easy but I hate how we are often stereotyped

Growing up near the Ganga River in the cultural wellspring of Mithilia, Rambharos Jha spent much of his childhood observing the natural world and traditional arts of the region. When his father began working with a government project to breathe life into local art traditions, Rambharos had the opportunity to study Madhubani women painting walls and courtyards in their renowned Mithilia style utilizing natural dyes and pigments to depict people engaging with nature and deities.
Inspired by these encounters, Rambharos began his artistic painting career in line with the traditional motifs of Hindu mythology but has since evolved his practice to better represent his personal experiences and experimental mediums. Waterlife, published in 2012 by Tara Books, is a culmination of Rambharos’s efforts to balance the delicate traditions of Mithilia art with his contemporary ideas. Waterlife is silkscreen-printed by hand on handmade cotton paper and masterfully plays with adding movement and new subjects and environments to the classic Mithilia medium marrying Rambharos’s childhood memories and folk legends.
