1. a book that is close to your heart

we are okay by nina lacour. i relate soooo much to the main character its not even funny. i have never cried so hard because of a book as i have reading this one it means. so much to me

5. something in fiction that reads like poetry

a dowry of blood by st gibson has some of the most lyrical beautiful prose i've ever read, and i just know the companion book will be even better because it's literally about a vampire poetry cohort. expecting some very good poetry in that one

7. a book you did not finish

god sooo many but i'm gonna go with chain of thorns because i did not want to dnf that one... the tsc series means so much to me i've been reading them since i was fourteen and i went into the last hours trilogy thinking it was going to become my favorite only for it to end up my least fav and i am so sad about it...

also alastair carstairs deserved better and i will never shut up about it!! he's my baby and i love him dearly

I'm fascinated by the idea that once Jem and Tess got married they go out to lunch with Magnus and Alec. They are all at some cafe or something talking about their wild adventures over the years, just chatting away. Then Magnus accidentally brings up the fact that he kissed Will Herondale and the entire table goes silent and they all slowly turn and look at him.

Summary: Drowning the sorrows in alcohol was the only thing going through his head. Sometimes sinking into misery was what comforted him. Approaching and staying in the trash, just as it felt.

“If we’re an army, what are we called?” said Simon.

Julian turned and unpinned the rolled-up canvas hanging on the wall behind him, which had been held in place with tacks. A gasp went up as it unfurled.

Julian had painted a banner, the kind an army would carry before it in wartime. The central item was a saber, point down, painted a shimmering pale gold. Behind the saber spread a pair of angel’s wings, while on each side clustered symbols of Downworld—a star for vampires, a spell book for warlocks, a moon for werewolves, and a four-leafed clover for faeries.

Dangling from the hilt of the saber, so small many would not be able to see it, was a locket with a circle of thorns on the front.

“We are called Livia’s Watch,” Julian said, and Emma saw Ty sit up straighter in his chair. “We carry this banner in honor of my sister, so that all who have been hurt by the Cohort will not be forgotten.”

I can’t believe Julian has drawn a banner with Livia’s choice weapon, her Saber and locket. As well as naming their army after her.

The symbolism of each inhabitant of the downworld, is a nice touch.

It’s good to see that they are not going down without a fight, and are determined to re-unite the downworld after the mayhem of the dark war and cold peace.

The cohort must be crushed!
