I love all your stuff! Are you planning to update Passion for Fashion, Child Support, or Congratulations It's Triplets soon? They are some of my favorites! If not, it's chill. Everything you write is kinda awesome so I look forward to anything you are willing to give
The Justice League has kept a weary eye on Danny Constantine because he is the son of one of their less than willing-to-work-in-team members and has found his way onto the youngest hero's team.
Robin, Abuse, and Superboy (the new one, not the Young Justice one) rarely went into the field. They mostly worked within Gotham, handling minor things until they got a feel for the dangers and the work of being a hero.
Bruce, assured everyone that within his city he was fairly sure he could keep them safe. (fairly because let's be honest, it is Gotham. That place was crawling with lunatics- Batman being one of them)
Clack would have preferred if Jon started in a smaller, less dangerous place, but his son has proven more than willing to sneak out to meet with Damian and Colin. It was no secret that Robin was the most trained and the most prepared to lead his team.
That didn't mean they were comfortable with three little children running around risking their lives. Phantom was the group's eldest but also the newest member of the team. He did struggle with his powers, but every day, under the careful eye of Batman's son, he grew more and more in control.
They were pleasantly surprised by how well he fit into the Super Sons. (A work-in-progress name developed when the team had only been Robin and Superboy.). The Justice League had been even more astounded by how careful Phantom was about property damage.
It's true that in a fight, they couldn't help with some damage, but Phantom always went out of his way to remind the other kids mid-battle to be careful and avoid breaking anything. He was more often than not racing after whatever car or building was thrown to faze it through other things.
He even helps the citizens take some photos for insurance purposes. It was shockingly refreshing to see someone worry about the logistics of being a hero.
When asked, Phantom would only blush in embarrassment. "My dad caused a lot of property damage when he drove. I got good at helping people file cases as an apology."
John denied it to everyone, but seeing as Danny's other father was literal Time itself, there was no way he wasn't the idiot on the road. Bruce prepared some lawyers for the people he may have hit and run.
It also helped that Danny seemed to be the new voice of reason within the Super Sons. One that wasn't convinced to try anything by Damian- --- Jon- or follow blindly behind Damian-Collin. He was respectful of Robin's role as leader but was always willing to talk him into respecting the team's suggestions and how to properly communicate. The success rates of Super Sons were skyrocketing with Danny, especially since Danny seemed to be great at PR.
Before Robin and Abuse were not as welcomed by the masses. Robin for being far more violent and rude than his pressors and Abuse for the absolute mountain of muscle that reminded people too much of Bane. Even Superboy was not as warmly noticed simply due to Gothamnics having a bitter rivalship with Metropolis City.
Phantom, on the other hand, was cheerful, helpful, and had enough of his father's sass to make even the worst of Gotham's grin. He also made time out of his day to help the community, walking people home, finding lost pets, cleaning up neighborhoods, and even appearing to clothe and feed whoever he came across.
Bruce himself claimed that a majority of the goons that Danny fought were slowly attempting to turn their life around. Danny had this strange ability to make people feel safe around him, and that let them get comfortable enough to talk about their issues.
It was hard to remember that Danny was blood-related to John Constantine out of all people. His civilian lifestyle, on the other hand, was completely different from his magical father in another way- he was a loser.
While Phantom had this glow, attention-grabbing charisma about him, Danny Constantine seemed to shrink in on himself and fumble with social interactions.
Bruce theorized that his human blood side lacked the near hypnotic attraction of Clockwork. Texts and tombs spoke of Clockwork as temptation itself, and he figured Danny had inherited that intoxicating ability.
This meant that Damian had to be worried about his teammate being bullied out of his sight.
It was displeasing to know that somewhere in the country, Danny was being made fun of, pushed around, or even attacked while he sat in the comfort of his elite school.
If there was one thing Damian Wayne could count as his flaw, it was being feireicly overprotective of those he considered his. That's why he strong-armed his father into paying for Colin to go to Gotham Academy while attempting to convince Clark to transfer Jon.
Jon himself didn't suffer from bullying, so he remained in Metropolis Middle School. His Beloved was moved to his classroom, where Damian had attached himself to his side and scared away anyone foolish enough to attempt to make Colin cry.
Beloved had awarded him with sweet kisses every time, so sometimes Damian hoped the fools of the Academy would try him more often.
Danny however, remained in some stupid school that had teenage boys bother him. John claimed he couldn't afford to send Danny anywhere better, and was seen stressing in the Watch Tower computer room looking into homeschooling.
Apparently, Danny's health depended on healthy relationships with humans. His biology literally attacked him if he couldn't be around people, and John was always pushing for Super Sons to have more meet-ups outside of suits as much as possible while trying to find a new school.
Danny has been moved to four schools already. The bullying just didn't seem to stop no matter where he went as a human.
"Father, it's important," Damian says for the fifth time. "Danny is struggling. It would be better to place him near us to provide protective support."
"Damian, I can't just pay for all your friends' education. It will get suspicious." Bruce sighs. "There are already rumors about Colin."
"But Father, you must think logically. Constantine may have sired him, but Danny is still Clockwork's son. He controls time. He is an entity we can not afford to make into an enemy. I highly doubt he will be pleased by how some mortals have been treating his son." Damian counters, ignoring the rage of the comment about his Beloved. He will find the mouths that will need to be taught to keep Beloved's name out of later. "This could stop whatever retaliation that is sure to be coming in its tracks."
Bruce considered it. "I could try to make it seem like Danny won something on his own....but I'm worried the board is starting to catch on. The other day Babs had to block an investigation of me possibly emblazing funds. "
"Father you do not understand-"
"Bruce!" Tim yelled, racing into the room, holding a laptop. "Bruce, it's Klarion! He's in Gotham."
Damian and Bruce both stiffen in horror. They dislike magic the most, seeing as it rarely follows predictable logic. Not that they couldn't eventually find the answer or the rules of whatever magic user was flowing, but it was a lot longer and headache-inducing. "Why is he here, and what does he want?"
"Well....he's not really doing anything bad?" Tim says, flipping the screen around. On it, the two Waynes can see a flouting teen snapping his fingers turning everything on the street into gold.
"If I was your husband, you would want for nothing!" Klarion cries, sinking to one knee before the startled-looking Phantom. "Oh, great heir of Clockwork, our union would be spoken for generations!"
"Lord of Choas Klarion, I am flattered by your offer but I'm not considering marriage right now." Phantom awkwardly says, rubbing his neck.
"But my young lord, Clockwork has proclaimed that your marriage partner is yours to make," Klarion says, snapping more of his fingers and turning the lined-up cars into large bouquets of roses. People scramble around from the demon, screaming as his magic nearly turns them. "Surely you see if our houses combine we would be unstoppable?"
Phantom's face hardens. "First of all, I don't date anyone for interest. Second, you're starting to bother the people of Gotham so cut it out. Third, I already said no so you-"
"Take a bloody hint and leave my boy alone!" John Constantine screams portaling into the scene with a wave of magic. He throws five powerful spells at the Witch boy who hisses back.
Hisses like a snake.
"Insolent mortal! This does not consider filth like-"
"Don't talk to my dad that way!" Phantom shouts cutting the Choas Lord off.
Klarion demonic features shrink back into a regular face as he blinks in shock. "This moral is your father?"
"Yes."
"Oh. Forgive my rude behavior, sir." Klarion's tone smooths out in an instant, snapping his figures to dust Constantine's shoulders. John frowns at him which makes the witch boy actually stumble. "Surely I can make it up to you? I am very interested in becoming your son-in-law and wouldn't want to make our relationship strain by my hasty behavior"
Bruce reaches over and closes the laptop before they can hear Constantine's response. "We are not dealing with whatever soap drama that was."
"Father!"

My eyeballs hurt from staring at the computer screen, and I've had to rework several pieces of Hickory's dialogue 'cause although I grew up in the prairies I did not grow up around anyone with a proper country accent.
Here's another snippet because I am ridiculously excited for when this is finished and I can release it into the world.

We're over 10k so far, babes ✨
Edit: I just realized this is an early draft and I fixed a couple things here already. Whoops

Hancock Chem Headcanons
I've been seeing a lot about Hancock lately, and other Fallout characters, that partake in The Chems TM and their reasons besides for the memes, and I would like to share my headcanons with everyone on Hancock. Since I've been writing this fanfic series with him for a few years now, I've had a ton of time to really think about the way I view his chem usage and why he does what he does.
He has high intelligence but doesn't like to get lost in his own thoughts. Not the worries, not the theories, not the what-ifs, not the nagging fears, or the way he talks down about himself. He's kinda like a case of "he had so much potential; if only he would apply himself." He doesn't want to apply himself, whether it has to do with past traumas or deep-seated fears.
Chems had other benefits besides just getting high. In my FF, he began taking chems because they were beneficial. It was his first job, delivering packages house to house in Diamond City, and Buffout helped him carry heavier packages across town. Chem use easily got out of hand. Later, spiked goods entered the mix. It's pretty believable since the player character uses chems in certain situations to get an edge. There were, of course, other people in his life that were chem users.
Because he enjoys it. And we all know that too much of something is a bad thing. But anytime I ask someone "why do you smoke? Why do you vape? Why do you smoke pot or eat edibles? Why do you drink?" I usually get a simple answer: "Because I like it and I want to," and sometimes mixed with, "to knock the stress off." Hancock is a mayor, so he probably stays a little stressed, too.
Chems make him more fun. After you've been doing something like this for a while, you tend to "not be yourself" when you haven't had your substances. People like Hancock in Goodneighbor because he, quote, "knows how to sling and shoot up like the next guy, and he doesn't put himself above them." So another reason he could be doing chems is simply because he wants to remain likable, especially since he has a low opinion of himself already.
He would do less chems if he stayed busy/distracted. I see Hancock as the kind of person that needs constant distraction, and he functions best when he's with someone that keeps his mood up. Not that he wouldn't take chems when he realizes he hasn't had any in a while; it's more like he just doesn't think about them. When you can hold him in a conversation, give him something to do to keep his hands or mind busy, or keep him laughing and engaged, he just reaches for the Jet and Mentats a lot less.
Note: Ghoulism makes you immune to a lot of things. Aging is incredibly slow, disease has no effect on you, radiation heals you, and you don't benefit from eating (e.g. Billie in the fridge). My headcanon is that it would take a lot to get Hancock high. His tolerance escalated after the ghoulification. And if he goes clean for longer than a day, any addictions he had would fall off. I imagine that this would irritate him, though. "Not as easy as it used to be," he'd say while chasing a new, crazier high.
Just some fun theories I had.

i think editing this fic made it worse BUT in de-aging everyone in this fic by five years, i have accidentally created a delightful d-plot called jordie benn adopts wyatt johnston as his own child:
Wyatt says, through a mouthful of pancake, “yeah, so all four of them—no, six, but the oldest son got drafted and he’s over in Europe, still, and the other is went to college in Boston but he might come home for break, so there are only four of them downstairs, youngest one’s a girl and she tried to beat my younger brother with a snow shovel, because my brother was getting fresh but I just stood there and let it happen ‘cause Jordie told me you don’t ever get fresh with a girl and if a girl comes after you with a shovel you probably had it coming so maybe the other two sons come home soon and all four of them knock some sense into my damn idiot brother—what was I saying?” Jamie squints. Jordie says, with a huge sigh, “The family lives downstairs, Wyatt.”
AND:
Wyatt comes clattering down the hallway. He trips on a loose floorboard but manages to stay up right. “I got it!” he says. “Mom says thanks for letting her borrow it, she took care of all my sisters last week. Is Jamie gonna give him a haircut? Hey—” he addresses Tyler directly “—Jamie will clean you up good.” “Oh, good,” says Tyler. His smile is wider. “I bet he does.” “Don’t run with scissors, Jesus Christ,” says Jordie abruptly. “Wyatt, who raised you?” “You did,” says Wyatt. Jordie frowns at him, trying for irritated but Jamie can tell he’s pleased. Jamie takes the scissors, rolling his eyes. Wyatt leans around Jamie to look at Jordie dead on. “Hey, we’re going to play hockey, you wanna come, Jordie?” “No, ‘cause I gotta work. Which you are making me late for. Thanks, boys,” says Jordie, when Miro and Roope appear behind him with a duffle bag of clothing. Jamie takes that too. It’s heavy – they must have packed a lot of winter clothing in it, and maybe some shoes as well. “You two are the best of men." Wyatt makes a face. Miro looks smug.
("where's joe pavelski" the fic is technically tyler/jamie hurt/comfort but it's ACTUALLY wyatt johnston's indomitable fifteen year old spirit forces old men* [*men in their mid-late 20s/30s] to play hockey with him while they adopt him as their child. joe pavelski is there dw)

So, I've been listening to the Jigsquad Pod, in which they discuss how the first Saw film had a very urban legend tone to the story (which. I love. Love. LOVE.) that isn't present in the rest of the franchise. And as someone who has a particular fondness for both found footage and mockumentary style horror, (and having just finished Butterfly Kisses) I thought of something.
I would have absolutely LOVED a mockumentary style movie set before the events of Saw 2, with some film crew going out to try to verify the truth of the Jigsaw killer story. Maybe even set before Adam and Lawrence's game, you know? Before Jigsaw ever made it to the news, like after his first couple of games, when he's just a whisper, a rumor, a boogeyman you tell your friends about.
Some young punks with cameras going out to try to find him, or try to find anyone willing to talk about him. (Hilarious thought- they actually interview either John or Jill who either A. Dismiss the concept or B. Warn them about knocking on enough doors looking for the Devil) And of course eventually they wind up playing their own game. Maybe they're rude to John/Jill/whoever, maybe they just get a step too close to finding out the truth.
It would be a vastly different kind of movie, with them not ending up stuck in a trap like the majority of the victims, but rather like Zepp's game- they have to complete difficult challenges all on camera or they die. The challenges would have to be painful, personal, and they'd have to keep filming or they automatically fail. Maybe the cameraman's challenge is to keep filming, stay on his side of the camera, not allowed to help no matter how much his friends beg?
Cause of death could be poison again, but I rather like the idea of the ending being one of them left, has just barely failed the challenge, and they set the camera down or something, walking off screen, and the last thing we see is either someone in a pig mask following them incredibly closely (think that extremely good scene in the Exorcist 3 with the nurse) OR the camera is picked up and follows the survivor- cut to black or have them turn around and scream, either way could work if done right. Gotta have the iconic game over though, either way.
I don't know how to end this post except to say I want less cop-centric entries into the Sawniverse.

i think as time goes on itll be easier to like the beatles as long as we keep up the trend of younger people not liking them.
#do you know how much easier itd be to accept that they made good music and innovated quite a bit#if i wasnt constantly having them shoved down my throat as THE MOST IMPORTANT BAND TO EVER EXIST#idk from my perspective... they were active in the 60s bro if they didnt exist someone else would have made those same innovations#other people around them were innovating all over the place#and the entire british invasion (which wasnt even just them!!) was built on the forward thinking of black american artists in the 50s#so like. yeah if the beatles didnt exist music history probably wouldnt have been that crazy different#like youre telling me NOBODY else. IN THE 60S. would have made the same steps forward that the beatles did?#like you really think john was this magical being gifted with creativity that invented all these ideas out of thin air???#no. their innovations were because they were active during THE decade of experimenting and making new moves in pop & rock.#people around them were inventing whole new genres and recording styles too smh anyway. its just so annoying.#they were just the most popular and one of the more active groups at the time so a lot of changes were credited to them#(even some of the ones that they didn't actually come up with.)#avpost#anyway. that's my rant. also they didn't even get good until bob dylan taught them to smoke weed.#i also alluded to it before but i don't think the 60s were such a time of innovation bc of them either. tired of that narrative#the beatles were not the only new band doing wildly different things in 1963 the stones crossed over at the exact same time#followed very closely by a lot of other uk bands.#plus like i said these bands were only so different bc they grew up loving black american artists' music .#so... that's the group that was actually innovating. the uk bands wereinspired by THEM. where's their flowers.#and there was tons of evolution in music during the 60s that had fuck all to do with the Beatles or rock at all.#*gestures aggressively to the invention of soul. which affected any and all pop music that came after it*#ive seen it argued that the supremes deserve just as much credit as the beatles do#but as a diehard supremes fan ill keep my opinion on that to myself since im . VERY biased.

Today I was reminded of the movie Baby's Day Out (AKA Home Alone but it's a baby), which I loved as a kid and haven't thought about in years.
And I had the thought, "if I watch this movie with the presupposition that this baby is a divine entity of chaos, will that make this movie more enjoyable to rewatch?
The answer to this question is obviously yes without even having to test it out, so I decided to make it a little more interesting and update my very scientific hypothesis:
If I watch this movie with the aforementioned assumption, then will that in fact make Baby's Day Out into the best version of The Omen??
I'm testing my hypothesis now. I don't think I've seen this movie in like 20 years. Man. It's hard being a scientist doing important science work sometimes.

Love how things going well is making me absolutely sick with dread around the edges of shutting down. It will literally be fine. I guess I’m reacting to putting up with whatever happens to me being my only response to like the ordinary exigencies of adult life, because for a while doing that did mean enduring stuff that sucked. And now I’m doing the same thing again, and I can’t accept that maybe it will be nice this time because obviously that’s a totally dysfunctional attitude to have. Like, there WILL be various disappointments and stressors, and these WILL feel, however briefly and inappropriately, like the hell for which I am  braced. So the blows like WILL fall though even it’s just “and I had to stand in the sun without sunscreen for longer than I intended” (the little rat inside my skull fried and screaming) Like it will definitely be fine, I am going to endure it. But I can’t accept that it will be nice. OKAY LISTEN UP, RAT. YEAH PROBABLY YOU WILL FORGET YOUR SUNGLASSES AT SOME POINT. SO HOLD FAST AND STAY BRACED FOR IT.

I have this headcanon that David picks up a genuine passion for photography in the Philanthropy days and would take pictures of interesting landmarks or cool animals or anything he deemed worth remembering in their travels
And then I remembered in Peace Walker, John has a camera (for the guise of being a wildlife/war photographer) that you can use in game to do just that. And in Phantom Pain, Ahab, fully believing he is John, has various pictures of his friends, the animals, the soldiers, and the vehicles taped up all over the ACC
So like... subconsciously i made sure photographing the things you love run in the family, just a bit
