Sometimes I feel like a tim burton character, melancholic but whimsical. Dark and grotesque but yet soft and naive. Misunderstood, longing for a place to fit in.

I feel like Dark Shadows doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves. It parodies the vampire/gothic genre in a comical respectful way, all while absolutely NAILING the aesthetic beautifully. The costumes, makeup and setting were so on point, some shots took my breath away. And it was funny.

*I was gonna name some other films like Terrifier 2, The Ritual, Hereditary, Midsommar and Joker because these are my favorites too, but since the rule is “comfort” I don’t think they really fall into that category? even though they’re comforting to me. I mean I know most people don’t see Sweeney Todd as a “comfort” film, but it’s still a little watered down compared to my other favorite films that didn’t make it to the list, I guess? anyway I just love all of these movies I’ve listed here, the ones that are on the list and the ones that aren’t, so feel free to check any of them out if you haven’t already :)
