I’m a massive fan of JadeDave (SpaceTime?) for reasons I can’t even explain.

I've given myself heat exhaustion AGAIN (heck, I hope it's only heat exhaustion, rip) and I am not here for it ffs so to make sure y'all know about it, imma share the signs of heat exhaustion!

Heat exhaustion is quite literally your body getting too hot and Exhausting itself to cope. Heatstroke is your body Failing To Cope.

Heat Exhaustion signs include:

You get a headache that Will Not Go Away

You feel confused and dizzy (balance who? Idk her)

You don't feel hungry but you feel sick as well (this sucks and happens a lot in high heat so try and snack regularly)

Sweating and clammy skin like the kind that has people go "you're freezing!" because you've sweated so much you literally end up with a chill on your skin

Cramps. Feckin cramps. Arms. Legs. Stomach. They suck ass.

You have a heckin fast pulse or you're hyperventilating like you've just had a Scare

Your body temp is over 38°c (because you're literally boiling like a lobster in a pot)

You are Beyond Thirsty and no matter what you drink it Does Not Abate

If you end up experiencing any of these symptoms, or multiple, and you're in a hot/warm environment, then sit your ass down in the shade, get something to drink, and get a damp cloth on your head or a change of clothes that are cool.

Basically, stop what you're doing and give your body a chance to Not Keep Boiling

Heat exhaustion is NOT THE SAME as a heatstroke.

Heatstroke is So Much Worse™.

Heatstroke signs include:

Still feeling like utter shite 30 minutes after you sat your ass down, rested in a cool place, and rehydrated

Not actually sweating even though you really do feel like a lobster in a pot that has the heat up High

Your body temp is 40°c+ (which is bad btw, that's temp for causing your to pass out etc)

Hyperventilating/fast breathing or actual shortness of breath (I struggle with this because asthma so I'm always like "idk if I got this oops)

Feeling confused but in a like "I don't know what's going on, I can't think, I have no idea about anything, someone help me please I'm crossing into traffic and don't even realise" way

Having a fit/seizure because your body temp is so high your brain is Actually Getting Boiled In Your Skull 🙃 [upside down smiley emoji]

Passing out and not actually responding or waking up from a brief fainting spell (this is the Serious™ kind of passing out that has doctors going "oh shit, we need an IV STAT!" or whatever it is they say when Shit Is Going Down)

Heatstroke can be really dangerous if it isn't treated quickly so please don't ignore these signs. Right now, I'm in a cool environs, with hydration, and am avoiding moving and am gonna have a nap because I'm going very dizzy, can't focus properly, have a headache, and am only coherent here because I'm HyperFocusing on this post. I can't even understand words being said to me right now hence nap, hydration, and cool environs.

So please, y'all, take care of yourselves. Seriously.

His Smiles

Summary: You observe Dazai's smiles

A/N: It's been a long time since I've written something, here's just something I wrote up really quickly while trying not to judge my own writing too hard but here's Dazai because I miss him :(

My Masterlist

More often than not, you spot Dazai with a smile on his lips.

A close-mouth smile was his favourite one, you supposed, after having watched him from your desk at the Armed Detective Agency for days on end. In a way, you would describe it as cute, especially that one time you saw him pressing a piece of paper to his lips with a grin on his face, with a little glint in his eyes. 

Or perhaps, they were merely his most common smile that he put on his lips. Because though you call them a smile, you could never quite tell how he was really feeling underneath the expression. 

As you continued your observation of the enigma that is Dazai, you noticed his smiles seems almost mechanical, unnatural in a way that was ineffable to you, or perhaps even calculated. Though every day you found a similar expression on his face: his eyes were closed and his lips lifted slightly upwards into a grin after a round of teasing his other coworkers such as Kunikida or Atsushi, it seemed that he had something hidden beneath his smiles. Because you could swear… there was, sometimes, an unnerving consistency to his expressions. 

And once, when his eyes pierced yours across the room, you could almost swear, just by the tension in the air, that he knew about your observations. Though the sharpness in his eyes melted into a usual grin, and his behaviours returned to that of a dramatic clown, the image of his piercing gaze remained fresh on your mind. 

Perhaps due to such, after that day, your later observations of his smiles only grew to unnerve you. Especially as the Agency had been involved in more missions than it ever had in recent years, and you saw first hand the grins he gave to his enemies.

His expressions were more calculated as before, you found. And you could feel the added sharpness you sensed before in his gaze, in his grins, and just with that, you thought, it was like he was cutting his enemies with a knife before the fight even started. For some time, while looking at him in these conditions, you had it set in your mind that this was the true nature of Dazai Osamu.

And yet… 

Though rarely do these days come across, but there were times when his smile revealed to you a vastly different nature of this man you thought you knew. 

Because there was one time you caught him alone, looking at the fallen petals of the cherry blossoms in the spring that showered down on him from a gust of wind. His bandaged arm upstretched towards the sky, as if wanting to catch one of the petals in his hand. Among the bright coloured flowers and leaves, and the bright blue sky above, lacking his typical dramatic demanour and smile, to you, he appeared almost grey among all the colours surrounding him despite being embraced by his sand-coloured coat. Though not a single petal landed in his outstretched hand, a smile revealed itself on his face. 

His gaze was dull, no longer piercing with the harshness you once naively thought he could never achieve, nor glistening with momentary mirth. In contrast, you could vaguely see a few creases under his eyes, which you thought made his expression much more gentle, much more… human. His lips are turned upwards into a closed-mouth smile, one that you have seen many times from him. But this smile does not seem forced, nor does it feel unnatural like some of his smiles you have observed. Despite the melancholy you could feel in his eyes, he smiled at the bittersweet scene before him, for some reason, the smile felt kind.

Having viewed this scene that you knew you should not have witnessed, you felt your chest flood with warmth. This was the smile you had been seeking, the smile that allowed you to witness Dazai Osamu.

i cannot describe how giddy it would make me walking into events on his arm, he's so respectful in public (he grew out of pda in his twenties, now the most you get out of the house is hand holding, but more typically, your arm is looped through his) no one really glances twice seeing you two together.

workers at the cafe always coo how sweet it is you still see your dad as often as you do at your age, they see you in here every week drinking coffee with him, always so animated when you talk, one of them even gushes how she wishes she was like that with her dad. every time you just smile and nod, saying how grateful you are, he's just the best you could ask for.

and god, the hero events, all dressed up at his side, the tabloids go crazy the next day, headlines all about his secret lovechild from decades ago finally resurfacing, the first father-daughter hero duo. his pr manager is having too much of a meltdown calling every news outlet they can get a hold of to really notice the noises coming from his office the next day anyway

Despite the impression he gives off, Dazai is a serene driver, who drives like the world outside the vehicle does not exist.

Its a fact only few are aware, as it is an rare occurrence that he is driving— and one is willing to hop in. After all, considering how he acts on the daily, not many trust him behind the wheel.

Night comes with no trains left and an urgency waiting you on the other side of the next day, Kunikida calls out to Dazai, knowing he is slacking off already. Drivers duty is nothing compared to the towers of files waiting on his desk after all, and wait long waiting wrath of Kunikida on the other line, Dazai swiftly goes out, already waiting for you inside the car.

The full moon hung in the dark night sky and earphones in your ears, you steal glances at the normally enthusiastic and loud man besides you— now drown in complete silence, eyes fixed on the road, with an expression not quite blank but not burdened with any thoughts eating away.

Eyes back on the moon, you notice it’s bigger than usual if your perception isn’t deceiving you— and presenting itself wrapped in rainbows, a halo of yellow, red and slight green, the light of the moon itself offering the missing blue for this little art piece.

No matter how proper or rocky the roads may be, the car drives swiftly; you have to think for a second to recall the last time you have experienced a car ride this smooth, safe and sound; you have forgotten just how peaceful these can be, remembering once more why some people drive the night away to clear their head.

With music slowly taking over, the moon shining like this is its last day in the universe, the pitch black sky as if in a pocket dimension, and Dazai, now a completely different man next to you, you are nulled to sleep.

Only when the music has come to an end and Dazai is nearing a resting spot does your eyes open again, watching the moon light dance on his face— a new side to him, a new sight of Dazai Osamu you have reached the honor of witnessing.
