Here’s the TruTV schedule for Monday, January 10 to Sunday, January 16, 2011.
Now, unlike any other network I post on this archive, I never really cared for TruTV until the Impractical Jokers premiered later in 2011, and not really a lot of TruTV got me besides from World's Dumbest around this time, and this is coming from my perspective now. (I didn't care for this when I was 5, which was when this schedule was made)
Now, this schedule had a lot of multi-hour blocks, given this schedule was essentially not that much changed from their CourtTV days, and I actually prefer how the channel was up until last year compared to how it was in 2011.
I won't list what's new, as I never cared for the shows on TruTV up until... when they changed their format in 2014?

Elvis: The Musical- a review by Lauren Avila
Tumblr media
It would seem that the public has a renewed Burnin’ Love for Elvis Presley, without an end in sight. Between the recent Netflix premiere of “Agent Elvis,” Baz Luhrmann’s Oscar-nominated film “Elvis,” and ongoing tourism at Graceland, there is an unquenchable thirst for the King of Rock n’ Roll. Now there is a new way to enjoy the legend and his music. Elvis: The Musical made its West Coast premiere this month and has enjoyed a completely sold out run! The bad news is that the curtain will come down in California very soon. However, this same version will be making its Australian debut later this year!
I managed to get a ticket to a daytime performance where, even in the middle of the day, people flocked to the East Sonora Theater to see Elvis in the building. This show tells the rise of the “kid that changed the world.” Playing the man, the myth, and the legend was Taylor Rodriguez. This was not the first time walking a mile in the blue suede shoes for this performer though. According to his credits, he “has had the honor of performing in many musical productions including the Million Dollar Quartet where he starred as Elvis Presley. In 2017 he was named One of the Top 5 Elvis Tribute Artist in the world. In June of 2019, he was crowned the 2019 Tupelo Elvis Festival Champion. Recently, Taylor Rodriguez was named The 2019 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion by Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE).” As you might expect from an introduction like that, Taylor really captures the voice and the moves of Elvis.
The story begins with a nervous Elvis, waiting to go onstage for his career-changing, 68’ Comeback Special. He faces his younger self, in the form of an adorable 11-year old actor named Asher Berg. Kid Elvis asks him, “What are you doing?” In the midst of this self-reflection, the audience embarks on a journey throughout the life of both young Elvis and Elvis, the icon. The show was comprised of a very strong supporting cast! Personally, I’ve seen Broadway shows, touring companies, regional productions, and community theater. I have found that many times the supporting cast can make or break a show. In this case, they truly contributed to an entertaining afternoon. Major standouts include Christopher Michael, Elizabeth Harlen, Olivia Marie Jones, Sage Spiker, Taylor Tveten, and Dedrick Weathersby. They had the kind of stage presence that made you pay attention to them. Perhaps it was a million watt smile, the passion of a southern Reverend, the excitement of a radio DJ in the 50’s, the corniness of a tv announcer in the 60’s, or even a lovestruck Priscilla.
The book comes from Sean Cercone and David Abbinanti who were wise enough to include all the major players in Elvis’ life, the hits you want to hear, and lines that make you think and feel. I really enjoyed the Jersey Boys-like template that many shows tend to follow these days. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? There were poignant moments of heartbreak, light-hearted points of humor that sparked genuine laughter, and even audience interaction that only an Elvis show could truly justify.
Spoiler warning: My favorite parts included the build up to “That’s Alright,” the interaction of Elvis with the front row during his appearance on The Frank Sinatra Show, the compilation of Elvis making his movies, and all the scenes of Kid Elvis and Adult Elvis.
Considering that this show was put on by a local theater company, I was impressed by the visuals. The set was a modest bi-level stage, encompassed by a Vegas-like semi-circle opening. Vinyl records were mounted to the walls on either side of the stage too. The stage’s projection screen added an immersive element, from spinning records to playing background for Elvis’s movies. The band was present onstage throughout, very convenient since they also doubled as Elvis’ actual bandmates. Unfortunately, power outage problems did occur several times but once again I must commend these professionals for not missing a beat. Strange things are, in fact, happening every day!
I must conclude by highlighting Taylor’s performance. Both his speaking and singing voice were very similar to the hip-swinging musician we all know and love. He accompanied himself on guitar. He pulled off all the moves that history has tied to Elvis. He convinced the audience enough of his character that the women were swooning over him by the time he was interacting with (and kissing) them.
All that said, I will say that the show itself may need to be shook up a bit before hitting the stage again. My biggest problem is that there were hardly any solutions for each storyline and character introduced. If you’re looking for trouble, you may find it in the structure of this show. I came out of it feeling like I was missing something. I believe though, with all the potential that Elvis: The Musical has, it can be a hit. Check out this preview below:

Recap of My Elvis Presley Movie Watching So Far (And More!)
So far, I’ve watched 10 of the 31 studio movies Elvis starred in, and even if I didn’t love them, I liked them all so far.
The ten I’ve watched so far (in chronological order) are:
(I did not watch them in chronological order - only listing them so far this way...)
1. Love Me Tender
2. Loving You
3. Jailhouse Rock
4. King Creole
5. G.I. Blues
6. Wild in the Country
7. Blue Hawaii
8. Follow That Dream
9. Viva Las Vegas
10. Girl Happy
Favorite (So Far): King Creole
Least Favorite (So Far): G.I. Blues
Nicest Surprise: Blue Hawaii
Favorite Song in a Movie: Either “Jailhouse Rock” or “Trouble” - it’s so hard to decide!
Give A Second Chance: Viva Las Vegas and Follow That Dream
Most Looking Forward To: Live a Little, Love a Little or The Trouble With Girls
Least Looking Forward To: Any of the westerns because I’ve never been into those types of films, but hopefully it surprises me
(But I’m really looking forward to all of them!)
Honorable Mention: The ‘68 Comeback Special
(I know, not a studio film, but I just love it so much!)
All in all, I’m really enjoying this adventure. I know there are a few stinkers among Elvis films, but I’m sure I’ll still enjoy most of them for Elvis alone. Even my least favorites, or the ones I’m not looking forward to as much, still seem to be great films.
I’ve also watched The Searcher which is a phenomenal documentary about Elvis as an artist, and I now have 3 more documentaries to watch and add to the list.
And besides King Creole and Jailhouse Rock, I think The ‘68 Comeback Special might be my new favorite Elvis thing ever. Not only for “If I Can Dream,”  what has now become one of my all-time favorite Elvis songs, but for how spectacular and passionate the whole special is.
Well, there you have it. Those are my stats so far.
More to come....now that I’m pretty much 1/3 of the way through this adventure.

Events In The History And Of The Life Of Elvis Presley Today On The 31st Of July In 1969.
Elvis Presley International Hotel, Las Vegas July 31st, In 1969.
Known for a powerful stage presence in total command of every room he has ever worked. But backstage at the International Hotel on July 31, 1969, Elvis Presley was packing back and forth like a panther. In a few minutes, he would march out into what was then the largest showroom in Las Vegas, holding 2.000 people.
Elvis Presley In Concert July 31st, 1969. Las Vegas, NV.
Dressed in a chic black tunic and bell bottoms that matched his long but neatly combed black-tinted hair. Elvis Presley stepped onstage last week at the International Hotel in Las Vegas and launched into the driving beat of 'Blue Suede Shoes'. The audience of 2,000, most of them over 30, roared and squealed in nostalgic appreciation. In spite of his updated look, ElvisPresley hadn't changed at all in the nearly nine years since his last personal appearance. Shaking, gyrating and quivering, he again proved himself worthy of his nickname, The Pelvis. Which he himself found it to be very childish coming from an adult Through nervousness caused him to sing 'Love my, me tender' for 'Love Me Tender', the pasty-faced enchanter quickly settled down to work his oleaginous charms, backed by a 30-piece orchestra, a five-man combo and a chorus of seven. Oozing the sullen sexuality that threw the America into a state of shock in the 50's, he groaned and swiveled through a medley of 'Jailhouse Rock', 'Don't Be Cruel', 'Heartbreak Hotel', 'All Shook Up' and 'Hound Dog'. It was hard to believe he was 34 and no longer 19 years old.
In fact, there are several unbelievable things about Elvis Presley but the most incredible is his staying power in a world where meteoric careers fade like shooting stars, Elvis Presley shot to the top in 1956 with 'Heartbreak Hotel' and has stayed in the uppermost tax bracket ever since.
Forty-seven of his singles have sold more than a million copies. He has made 32 movies, currently turning them out at a rate of four year and raking in a cool million plus half the profits for each. Presley's income is estimated at $5 million a year and he spends it freely. Among his purchases are an antebellum mansion called Graceland near Memphis (the house is painted luminous blue and gold and glows in the dark), and a succession of cars including a gold Cadillac. No ones knows how much the boy from Memphis is being paid for his four week Las Vegas stand but, according to Presley associate, 'Coming in on the heels of Barbra Streisand, you know that it's over a million'.
Brief Review By Terry O'niell

I’ve been talking non stop about it on Twitter & in my discord servers but it hasn’t spewed over here yet which is honestly shocking BUT I watched the Elvis biopic movie like a week ago & now my brain is obsessed with Elvis Presley. This is one of those examples of “you don’t choose the hyperfixation, the hyperfixation chooses you”. Like I can’t stop thinking about Elvis Presley I’ve been listening to his hit songs on repeat for the past week. Like constantly. I’d be shocked if this guy isn’t in my Spotify wrapped at the end of the year. I’ve even started watching the movies he’s in. I just watched King Creole. I’m watching Flaming Star tomorrow. I have a SCHEDULE. GOD HELP ME
But also can we talk about how different his life & career success would have looked like without Colonel Parker- OK ILL STOP ILL STOP
Jk I won’t this is just gonna be my designated Elvis Brainrott Post so I don’t flood my page with Elvis nonsense. I’ll just keep editing & adding to this post instead 🙃
My Elvis playlist: (major [I’m biased on some] hits in order of when they were released - it runs perfectly at an hour long which is too satisfying so now I can’t add or remove songs I’m stuck at this 23 song set up)
That’s All Right \\ Baby, Let’s Play House \\ Blue Suede Shoes \\ Heartbreak Hotel \\ Hound Dog \\ Don’t Be Cruel \\ Love Me Tender \\ All Shook Up \\ Jailhouse Rock \\ Trouble \\ Fever \\ It’s Now or Never \\ I’m Coming Home \\ Can’t Help Falling in Love \\ (You’re The) Devil in Disguise \\ Viva Las Vegas \\ A Little Less Conversation \\ If I Can Dream \\ In the Ghetto \\ Suspicious Minds \\ Always On My Mind \\ Burning Love \\ Unchained Melody
Also a list of my favorite lines/verses in these songs (bc some of the lyrics are so funny &/or very good):
“Drink my liquor from an old-fruit jar” (Blue Suede Shoes)
“I'm itchin' like a man on a fuzzy tree // My friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug”, “Her lips are like a Volcano that’s hot” (All Shook Up)
“Spider Murphy played the tenor saxophone // Little Joe was blowin' on the slide trombone // The drummer boy from Illinois went crash, boom, bang // The whole rhythm section was a purple gang” , “The warden said, ‘Hey, buddy, don't you be no square //If you can't find a partner, use a wooden chair’” (Jailhouse Rock)
“But if you're gonna start a rumble, don't you try it all alone” (Trouble)
“Thou givest fever when we kisseth // fever with thy flaming youth” , “Cats were born to give chicks fever // Be it Fahrenheit or centigrade” (Fever)
“”(Viva Las Vegas)

How to Watch Elvis Movies for Free! (Legally)
Hello Elvis fans!
If you're anything like me, when you develop a new special interest that slowly but surely begins to consume every waking moment of your life, you try to absorb as much about that topic as possible. Unfortunately, this pursuit of knowledge sometimes come at a price that not everyone can afford. So for those of you wanting to watch some films starring Elvis Presley, there are plenty of free resources at your disposal!
{These resources are available at the time of writing (July 2023)}
Pluto TV:
Pluto has a whole sub-folder dedicated to Elvis films, with about ten that rotate out on a regular basis. The only con is that ad breaks are inevitable. These films include:
G.I. Blues (1960)
Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962)
Fun in Acapulco (1963)
Easy Come, Easy Go (1967)
Clambake (1967)
Frankie and Johnny (1966)
{Other films regularly added include King Creole (1958), Blue Hawaii (1961), Roustabout (1964), and Paradise, Hawaiian Style (1966)}
YouTube:
So far, I've managed to find three full-length films for free, including:
Love Me Tender (1956)
Loving You (1957)
Charro! (1969)
The Criterion Channel:
Now there is a catch with this one. While this is a premium streaming service, you can get a 7-day free trial (I can't link the individual movies, so I'll link the site). For July 2023, the platform is offering six films, which are:
Love Me Tender (1956)
Jailhouse Rock (1957)
King Creole (1958)
Blue Hawaii (1961)
Wild in the Country (1961)
Viva Las Vegas (1964)
These are only the ones I know about. If anyone knows of any others, feel free to reblog and add them.
I hope everyone enjoys!

We Met in Tampa PT 5
A/N: the Elvis movie plot but Y/N version!!
pairing: austin!elvis x reader
Warning: fluff, america burning to the ground, the colonel being an asshole ONCE AGAIN
Tumblr media
Y/N POV
When Elvis came back from the Army he got in a movie and he wanted to get married so I invited my family to come up to Las Vegas, we had a hell of a time! Our wedding was perfect! I never seen my parents so happy for me in my life, they wanted my wedding day to be the best day that they can witness! Several months later, our beautiful daughter, Evelyn Presley came in to the world! My family would come up to Memphis to visit her and they would stay at Graceland when Elvis would do a movie.
Elvis got a lot of movie roles and he wanted me to go to the sets but I kinda got scared to because maybe the producers didn’t want me there because I’m too ‘distracting’ to Elvis.
His friends also known as, Memphis Mafia, they’re really nice but we would kinda get along sometimes. They always do dumb things when they would be at Graceland or at a movie set.
‘Dr. Martin Luther King jr., the apostle of non-violence in the Civil Rights movement, has been shot to death in Memphis, Tennessee.’
I already know that Elvis is crushed by this, I am as well, we watched his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech and it was inspiring, we support the Civil Rights Movement.
I hold Evelyn in my arms while Vernon is saying, “With the sale of the ranch and the horses, that’s gonna cover the payroll, but as for the security at graceland…” I look at Evelyn, looking sleepy as ever.
I listen to the radio hearing MLK news, Elvis walks up with Evelyn, I turn the volume up and I get closer to the both of them and says, “Memphis is burning.”
Elvis hands me Eve and I rock her gently and see John F. Kennedy talking about MLK. Elvis walks off to talk to the Colonel and I set Evelyn down in her little crib and walk up to Elvis and wrapped my left arm around him.
“We’ve seen “Elvis the Rebel, we’ve seen “Elvis the Movie Star.”
Now we will see “Elvis the Family Entertainer.” I look at him then hear Jerry say, “And appliance salesman?” Elvis, the Colonel, and I look at Jerry and Elvis says, “What did you say? Listen, Jerry, I don’t need you to question me about how I support my family and every goddamn person here you understand stand me?” I look at Elvis walking away hearing, “Laugh it up, assholes.” He slams the door to his trailer.
I walk in the trailer to find Elvis and I see him with a radio, I lean on a wall to look at him, “Hi.” I said.
He turns the radio off. “Can I watch the memorial with you?”
“Yeah, baby.” He puts his right hand out for me to sit next to him.
“I’m so tired of playing Elvis Presley. Too many people rely on me.” I sigh, “I love you and your daughter loves you.” I whimper to him.
“We don’t care about the money or anything else. We just want you to be happy. You’re only really happy when you sing the music you love.” I kiss his forehead.
I look at the TV and hear “Mahalia Jackson, I used to hear her sing at East Street Church.” I look at him.
“That’s the music that makes me happy.” Elvis points at the TV, I keep on watching the memorial.
Elvis meets up with a guy name, Steve Binder, about his Christmas Special. Elvis tells me about what he’s going to do, and it’s not a christmas special, it’s something different.
I wait for Elvis to get ready for the small stage, he looks good in a leather suit. He comes up to me and gives me a kiss, I kiss him back. I hope this goes well for him. The audience starts to clap when he went up on the stage. Jerry took me to esclusive area to see Elvis better.
‘Well, it’s down at the end Of Lonely Town’
He’s like a new Elvis but the same Elvis like I saw him at Russwood Park. He starts to sing Hound Dog and I get the feeling I had back when we met. He’s still the amazing guy. Jailhouse Rock comes on, he does new moves I haven’t seen before.
“Bobby Kennedy has been shot!” We run in the green room to see the TV and everyone is silent. I start to shake a little. What’s happening in America? Elvis holds me close, I hug him. Steve turns the TV volume down and says, “Listen, I, uh…. I just want to say that…” I can tell he want to cry.
“We have to say something. You…” He looks at Elvis, “have to make a statement, E.P.”
“Mr. Presley doesn’t make statements, he sings ‘Here Comes Santa Claus.’ and wishes everyone, ‘Merry Christmas and good night.’ I hate the Colonel. He rubs me the wrong way. The Colonel shuts off the TV.
Jerry and I hear music so we go in the sounding room, it’s Elvis singing a new song, it sounds amazing.
‘Still, I am sure that the answer’s answer’s gonna come somehow’
I continue to watch, I’m in awe.
‘While I can talk while I can stand while walk while I can dream oh, please let my dream come true, oh right now’
I clap a little but I can see the Colonel looking pissed. I can tell that, that song is going to be huge.

I’ve only seen a few Elvis movies so far, but I was curious how you would rank them? From best to worst. :)
Oooh.. Which ones have you seen? Also, I'd love to rank his movies! This will be fun. 😂
These are how I rank them personally. But I'd love to hear everyone else's rankings! I will be ranking the movies from the 50's first and then do the 60's, because his movies in the 50's are honestly my favorite because the stories actually made sense and weren't rushed and you can tell he actually cared.
The 50's - From best to worst
King Creole (Baby acted his ass off in this and the story was great!)
Jailhouse Rock (I really loved this because I could hope that he would've taken charge of his career the way Vince did without the asshole part. Another where the story was great.)
Loving you (He was just too darn cute in this movie with his little stuttering and I love that his parents were in it. Deke has my heart.)
Love Me Tender (Spoiler: this gets worst because he dies 😭)
The 60's - From best to worst
1. Follow That Dream (Does this even need an explanation? You guys know how much I love this movie and not even for the story. It's my comfort movie)
2. Girls! Girls! Girls! (This was the very first Elvis movie I saw and I hold it dear to my heart. I would play Return to Sender on repeat, lol)
3. Wild in the Country (I know this is like 50/50 for people but I really loved this movie. The story was great and his acting was amazing.)
4. G.I Blues (God.. This movie.. He.. Yeah, he looked fine as hell. Story was okay. The songs are my fave.)
5. Live a Little, Love a Little (This was the second Elvis movie I saw and honestly is a favorite!! Bernice is insane BUT I STAN. Greg Nolan is my baby.)
6. It Happened at the World's Fair (This movie was so cute and funny. I always love him in movies with kids! 😭)
7. The Trouble with Girls (DO I EVEN NEED TO EXPLAIN?!!? HIS EYES WERE SPARKLING. THE SUITS)
8. Change of Habit (Okay, I feel like this movie is incredibly underrated and AE made it seem like it was so terrible. But I personally loved this movie because of its serious story and plot. It was also a different character we've seen Elvis play. I think had there been no songs at all, this would've been taken more seriously. He also looked good af.)
9. Flaming Star (Despite the stereotypes and well everything else that would get this movie canceled.. I actually enjoyed it a lot. It was certainly different for Elvis. If I remember correctly, Tarantino said this was his favorite Elvis western because it was the most violent.)
10. Kid Galahad (This movie was good and another different character for him. But I'm not into boxing so it was kind of boring to me)
11. Blue Hawaii (I really enjoyed this movie, but I don't love it as much as everyone does. I don't get the hype and I also think Can't Help Falling In Love is overplayed and overrated. He's got so many better love songs. But that's just my opinion! This movie still gets a good ranking though.)
12. Viva Las Vegas (I enjoyed this movie! But much like Blue Hawaii I don't get the hype. It's not my favorite but definitely not the worst)
Now let's get into the movies that in my personal opinion were the worst. Now that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them. Even with the stories not being great; some of them were funny!
13. Fun in Acapulco (This movie was enjoyable but the story could've been better and I didn't really like a lot of the songs.)
14. Roustabout (I just found this movie so boring and I'm not surprised the colonel loved it. But Elvis looked HOT.)
15. Girl Happy (I really enjoyed this but again the story wasn't great and his character wasn't anything special. But if you want a few laughs this is a good one. ALSO ELVIS IN A DRESS!!!) 16. Tickle Me (this movie was so funny and Elvis always has perfect comedic timing. It reminded me of Scooby Doo. But unfortunately the story was meh they also used songs from one of his old albums because they had nothing written for the film)
17. Spinout (This movie was okay, a few laughs. But nothing too special besides him threatening to spank someone, lol. Basic Elvis character.)
18. Speedway (A few good songs, but kinda boring to me)
19. Frankie and Johnny (I really liked the aesthetic of this film and some of the songs, but it certainly wasn't the best. He looked horrid in that yellow sweater lmfao)
20. Paradise, Hawaiian Style (I enjoyed the songs and his interaction with the little girl. It was too cute! A few good laughs, but nothing to rave about)
21. Stay Away, Joe (This movie was so ridiculous and stupid, but also funny as hell to me because of how ridiculous it was. Another one that would be cancelled. But Elvis looked so good lol)
22. Clambake (SNOOZE FEST. Stupid story also Elvis tried to get out of making this movie. So much drama behind the scenes of this, lol. He was fat shamed. His character.. I don't even know.)
23. Charro! (This movie could've been great since they weren't really any songs, Elvis' acting was great and he looked good with a beard. But the story was just so boring.)
24. Double Trouble (This movie was funny but that's about it. Story was eh)
25. Kissin' Cousins (Jesus Christ.. Where do I even begin with this movie? We should not be hooking up with our cousins first off, LMFAO. The only good thing was Jodie. 😂)
26. Harum Scrum (I DONT EVEN NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS DUMPSTER FIRE. I hate this movie, lol. 2.99 WASTED. Like wtf was this?? It was so bad Elvis gave up acting in the middle of it lol.)
Now let's rank the concert docs for funsies!
Elvis on Tour (THIS IS MY BABY. The amount of times I watch this is unhealthy. He's so fucking sexy in it and just watching him at all these shows doing what he loves. Ugh. The shot of him staring out the window and kind of just lost in thought.. It just makes me want to hold him.)
That's The Way It Is (The first concert doc I watched. This is just amazing. The album alone is my favorite. But seeing him up on that stage giving it his all and having so much fun doing it warms my heart.)
Aloha From Hawaii via Satellite (I know this technically isn't a concert doc but it belongs on this list. Do I even need to say how amazing this was??? How good he looked?? This certainly is underrated.)
Honorable mention
Elvis In Concert - (I wish they would release this because it only aired once I believe on October 3rd, 1977. But that was it. You can watch it on YouTube because someone remastered it and fixed the audio as best as they could. But It'd be nice if EPE would just release the actual footage and have CBS or RCA remaster it. Despite how ill he was he still put on a performance no matter what. He still wanted to make the fans happy. But I understand why they don't really want it out there.)
Sorry this was so long and I don't know if you wanted my actual opinions on them. But I felt I might as well give them, lol. Thanks for the question, bestie!
