Please, friend, do you have the screencap where Columbo says something like, "the best way to make an omelet is no eggs, only milk!"? 🥺
Tumblr media
(original post)
fun fact: the original line was "no milk, just eggs" but peter falk flubbed the line and they kept it in. makes me sad that we'll never get to see columbo bloopers

Today’s villaintine is direct and to the point! Simply put, when someone walks onto the page or screen with a little leather or lace, maybe the evil eyeliner, definitely the cutting wit, I say: Spare your tormented backstory? Spare your number? Evil’s just sexier. That’s a quote from Long Live Evil, and if you agree pray be so kind as to preorder for extra evil treats from Murder by the Book in Houston, Texas, a fabulous indie that has kindly agreed to celebrate villainy with me.
I was there on tour once for my first series, The Demon’s Lexicon, long ago. I was lucky enough to be put on tour with Holly Black, who has always been a rock star babe genius. Kindly Bookseller: Holly Black is here! And you, I’d never heard of you.
Sarah (this happened all the time, I was unbothered): Very natural. A rock star babe genius is here, we’re going to have fun. Kindly Bookseller: So I read both your books and I really liked them and I told my regulars to read them and I printed out your short stories from your website. Sign your short stories for me?
Sarah (this did not happen all the time) … oh my god?
At the event, there were many loyal customers and crime lovers who were here to see us because their booksellers said we fantasy creatures were good, and they trusted their local, and were an extremely engaged audience. I never forgot that, and I’m excited they’re with me on my villain’s journey. Into the book, and having the best fun and best lines and the worst fate along with the villains. Murder by the Book indeed. Also, my protagonist (can’t call her the heroine, that’s someone else) has a pet snake. Every evil accessory! Come meet the snek.

Columbo S1E1: "Murder by the Book" (1971)
Fern spotted at 49:05! I think. It looks like a tree fern, but might be a small sago palm.

lol Columbo tells the murderer that he (Columbo) would have taken a plane back from San Diego to LA after learning about the murder.
Yeah, even today, if you use Delta or United that's an hour flight. Driving is like, 2 and a half. I don't even know if Google takes into account LA Traffic which is like + 1 million years supposedly.

Here’s the TruTV schedule for Monday, January 10 to Sunday, January 16, 2011.
Now, unlike any other network I post on this archive, I never really cared for TruTV until the Impractical Jokers premiered later in 2011, and not really a lot of TruTV got me besides from World's Dumbest around this time, and this is coming from my perspective now. (I didn't care for this when I was 5, which was when this schedule was made)
Now, this schedule had a lot of multi-hour blocks, given this schedule was essentially not that much changed from their CourtTV days, and I actually prefer how the channel was up until last year compared to how it was in 2011.
I won't list what's new, as I never cared for the shows on TruTV up until... when they changed their format in 2014?

Mystery by the Book edited by Martin Edwards
Tumblr media
3 out of 5.
Subtitled "Mysteries for Bibliophiles", this is a collection of sixteen short stories published between the 1930s and early 1970s. The basic theme is mysteries from the world of books, victims or perpetrators who are authors or booksellers or others with a literary connection.
I was expecting to adore this book as older mysteries are usually my favorites. Plus there are some rather big names of mystery fiction from that period represented here. Don't get me wrong, these weren't bad, they were just meh. It was rather boring a read. None of the stories rated high enough to be a favorite or low enough to hate.
Contents:
"A Lesson in Crime" by G. D. H. & M. Cole (aka George Douglas Howard & Margaret Cole, husband & wife) "Trent and the Ministering Angel" by E. C. Bentley "A Slice of Bad Luck" by Nicholas Blake "The Strange Case of the Megotherium Thefts" by S. C. Roberts "Malice Domestic" by Philip MacDonald "A Savage Game" by A. A. Milne "The Clue in the Book" by Julian Symons "The Manuscript" by Gladys Mitchell "A Man and His Mother-in-Law" by Roy Vickers "Grey's Ghost" by Michael Innes "Dear Mr. Editor…" by Christianna Brand "Murder in Advance" by Marjorie Bremner "A Question of Character" by Victor Canning "The Book of Honour" by John Creasey "We Know You're Busy Writing…" by Edmund Crispin "Chapter and Verse" by Ngaio Marsh
