Looking back on some stuff... I have a LOT of unresolved beef with Lucas I’m not even exaggerating.

Not gonna lie folks, getting really fucking tired of seeing Billy Stans openly cross-tagging, egging other people on and trying to guilt-trip people out of not liking Billy.

No. I do not care that Billy is an abuse victim, he abused his younger sister, tried to murder three kids and another teen. The moment he began abusing someone else, it ceased to matter what happened in his past. Billy is not a saint, not a hero, Billy Hargrove is a monster. That is it. 1. I feel some tomdayas do too much with timdayas. I'm aware this is very unpopular, but let me explain. I'm not a timdaya, but I was a Timothee stan before I was a Tomdaya stan, so my perspective may be different. I feel Tomdayas need to accept that tindayas are going to exist and to stop giving them so much attention. This is not the first time both Tim and Z in their careers, are going to play with love interests that don't reflect their personal life(Timothee with Taylor in Bones and all whilst dating Kylie and Zendaya with Hunter and Mike and Josh while being with Tom).

Back in the day, actors had so much variety in their roles that had Z or Timothee been this age in the 90s, they would have been in 100 romcoms by now and ppl would be shipping them with their costars. It's not a reflection in real life. The insecurity projected unto Z is so weird because this same insecurity is never placed on Tom, and he had a makeout scene in TCR. No one thought he was dating his costar. It's obvious some Tomdayas are insecure, and tbh it's silly cause if you truly are a fan of both of them, you would know that the insecurity comes from film twitter and is not reflection in real life. The only way actors can do "showmances" is very early in theory careers as they don't have an established fanbase. In the new hunger games films, Tom blyth and Rachel Zegler have great chemistry, but they both have partners in real life, and so there's a line they don't cross and are still very popular. There are fans who want them together, but that's a loud minority.

Timothee and Z are well established in their careers, and it wouldn't make sense to do that.

A manager is not an actor, Lucas gave him a lot of troubles, the man wouldn't be able to hide animosity to the artist even if he tried. Instead, we can see a very supporting hyung, who likes the idol he takes care of.

The problems with fans is that they believe words and not their own eyes. They can't judge character, so they follow someone's opinions. You, anon, were able to make a profile just by looking how Lucas interacted with NCT members, how he behaved during programmes. I'm always grateful that the problem with shawols is that their standards are sky-high, lol. And they rarely waste time on such nonsense.

And I'm with you. I give zero shits if Baekhyun gets scolded at work. Who hasn't been scolded at work? I scold and get scolded, lol. That's work. Unfortunately, a lot of the people drawn to the kpop "stan" thing are people who aren't familiar with having an ambitious and demanding career. For us that are chasing something, you do work hard and overstretch yourself and get scolded and fail and try again. Lots of things happen if you're chasing a dream. What I hate is the "overwork" thing you bring up because it's just very clear these people don't know what it's like to go after your dreams and start succeeding. It Lives is an amazing book and the MC is an absolute legend. I haven’t changes much about their looks, only removed the bangs and gave them a piercing. I have a ton of headcanons about them though so see the notes under the cut.

I really hope I didn’t mess up with the name. From what I gathered, De is usually masculine, but I think it could work as a unisex name too. It’s supposed to be pronounced like Deh, but their non-Vietnamese friends call them Dee. 

Her parents moved to the US from Vietnam when De was a baby. They work for some big humanitarian non-profit, and their job entails a lot of lengthy trips around the world. They are good people, but they kind of have their heads in the clouds a little. Like yeah, let's leave our underage kid alone in the country for weeks, she'll be fine. 

Lucky for them, De is actually very well adjusted, although it might not seem like that from the outside. Best way to describe their routine is controlled chaos. You won’t catch them dead following any kind of daily schedules, and their friends give them shit for never eating 3 meals a day. But they not at all irresponsible, they just know what works for them, and they never cross the line. 

Neurodivergent, it just makes so much sense in my head that they have ASD.

Loves really long hikes, would often just grab a tent and a sleeping bag and leave for the weekends. Bonus points if there is a cliff she can climb because she’s kind of an adrenaline junkie when it comes to sports. Her parents have no idea about these little adventures and they’d probably loose their mind if they did.

In school, they were the kind of student who mostly gets Cs, but then there are a few subjects they actually like, and they completely dominate those. In De’s case, those subjects were math and physics. Despite their shitty grades, they managed to brute force her way into a decent college. Plans to go into quantum physics. They actually have theories about how the power fits into it, but once they starts rambling about those, only Tom has any idea about wtf De’s saying. The two of them kind of geek out about it a little sometimes.

Came out as nonbinary after the events of the ILITW book (yeah, this is my explanation as to why she uses she/her pronouns in book 1). In their case, they don't really feel like any gender in particular, so they go by any pronouns. Mostly they/them among friends, except Andy who leans towards he/him and uses every chance to call De his bro/dude etc. (he's just really excited to have a trans friend, and De thinks it's cute). 

They’re a very physical person. They like making stuff with their hands and they often show affection through touch.

De’s very protective of her friends. Her worst nightmare is being unable to help them. She’d rather spend 4 years trying to literally bring Noah back from the dead than admit that she can’t help him.

In my original playthrough, De’s love interest was Lucas and I still love him a lot, but ILW converted me into a Dan stan. So in my ‘canon’ ILITW playthrough De is single, and they only start dating Dan during the events of ILW. This pairing just makes so much sense to me, they are both sensitive, reliable and protective. Even the fact that it takes them years to get together seems very in character, they are both always too busy taking care of other people to fix their own lives.

Steve is the only character you listed that has canonically interacted with all 7 kids.

Nancy barely interacted with Lucas, Erica and Max.

Robin barely interacted with Lucas.

Steve is the only teen Max gave a letter to.

You cant override the junkyard, and defending the kids from Billy in s2, Max and Lucas are Steve's kids based on that alone.

Erica? You're overlooking Scoops Troop. S3. She is Steve and Robin's. An argument could be had here that Dustin is Steve and Robin's, again because of the Scoops Troop.

The real listing would be El and Will are Jonathans. Not Jancys, Jonathans. Nancy doesn't have any major connection to either of those kids, and very little interaction.

Steve has barely interacted with Will and El so that barely counts, especially if you’re trying to say Nancy’s barely interacted with some of them.

Nancy hasn’t interacted much with Lucas on the show but it’s literally canon she dressed up as an Elf to help them with their D&D campaign, she’s also known all of the boys for as long as Mike has.

Again, these are headcanons, no one is overriding anything. I forgot about Scoops Troop when I made this tbh, my only reasoning for giving Erica to Nancy was bc I see her looking up to Nancy like Max & El do.

Max has never really had a female role model and she clearly has that with Nancy, she calls her a role model in Runaway Max and also talks about how badass she is. They spend time together in S4 where both Robin and Nancy are protective over her. It’s also canon that Nancy and Max have a friendship, and who was Max‘s second choice to find after Lucas in S4? Nancy. Not Steve. She went to find Nancy before Dustin even.

nancy from season 1 to season 4 remains the most badass and independent women from this show (besides joyce, and el, whos also independent af), if there’s one thing nancy’s character will NEVER lose is her independence, no matter how this love triangle ends, she’ll NEVER lose her independence bc that’s just how nancy is, nancy wasn’t reduced as a love interest, her love life is just a tiny part of who she is, this girl has been character-driven from day one, and being in love with jonathan or steve won’t change that, nancy was ALWAYS bigger than her love life, she’s REALLY important for the plot, u just need to WATCH THE SHOW to know that, but y’all need to accept that being in love with jonathan or steve (we don’t know yet how this plot will end) is part of her. female characters can be in love and still be badass and independent just as they can be soft and kind, stop making them choose. s4 nancy was a masterpiece, she gets better and better every season. and whatever life SHE chooses, i know she’ll still be kicking ass and taking names bc THAT’S nancy wheeler and nothing will change that.

Lucas and his love island Journey

(Note: I had these thoughts for quite a while now but I was too embarrassed to post because I didn’t think it would make sense, but after seeing @0shewrites0 theory and some of @mercedesdecorazon works, I got inspired to post. Also the sections will be titled after movie puns, Idk why I did this.)

While I have gotten to love Lucas through fanfics and headcannons, I have yet to play his route ( I’m too stubborn to let Lottie have Gary). So all the information that I’m using for this is based off of Photos I’ve seen, information I’ve heard from Lucas stans on this website, and the occasional video that follows his route. So if I get any information wrong or if my reasoning feels slightly off, feel free to correct me. On top of that, the reason why I wanted to do this was because I was really curious about the discussion amongst fans about how glitchy his route was, and how developers haven’t really put much thought into it compared to the OG guys. There’s also this idea that he was supposed to be the secondary love interest, but after script changes it was dropped. So, out of curiosity, I tried piecing together the moments from his route and his Henrik’s route (since their kind of interconnected) to try and see the full story.

Lucas’ route aka How to Lose a Guy in 4 Days

In my opinion, I feel like Lucas‘ route was meant to be a the one that got away route. The islander who managed to connect with MC, but because of certain unfortunate circumstances, was taken away. So when he returns, it’s supposed to be this joyous moment between two people who were pulled apart and brought back together. If he does end up staying, he ends up with Henrik’s dialogue which makes it seem like he’s not interested, when in fact he is. The middle section of the game is so wired to Henrik, that if Lucas ends up staying, he ends up with Henrik’s dialogue and arc instead of his own.

What do I mean? When we first meet the guys you can tell that there’s distinct differences between them. The game goes out of their way to show how much of an odd couple dynamic they have, Lucas the posh rich boy with a seductive charm and a more mature outlook and Henrik the outdoorsy nature boy with a childlike sense of wonder. There dialogues match their personalities and even their relationships with the other islanders differ. For example, While Henrik is shown to have a great relationship with Bobby and Gary, enjoying their jokes and banter, Lucas is shown not responding positively to the both of them. Once we get past day 9, things get a little clunky, especially for Lucas. Fans have mentioned that he starts acting out of character, but I don’t think he’s just acting out of character, I think he’s acting as someone else entirely.

Lurik’s route a.k.a. Don’t Be a Menace on Love Island While Doing Henrik’s Route in the Villa

Like I said, the game gets real weird in the middle. Between the two of them, this section is mostly tailored towards Henrik, even though there’s certain moments that should have Lucas there instead of him. So there ends up being this weird middle ground were he’s not supposed to be there, but also him being there makes sense because of the side plot that they give him.

Let’s try breaking this down shall we? The section were Lucas is mostly important is during the Operation Nope arc, we see this plot point come up around days 10-12.

- [ ] After you finish talking to Priya and Bobby about Operation Nope, you head to the kitchen to see Gary and Lucas. If you take the diamond choice to tell them about the plan, Lucas says he should go find and check up on Hope.

- [ ] When you go to talk to Hope on the roof terrace, she mentions Noah’s comment about her excitement over Lucas.

- [ ] Later on if you listen in on Noah and Priya, Noah makes the comment about how both Jakub and Lucas are into Hope. (Yes he says this about Henrik too, but it doesn’t make sense because Henrik hasn’t shown any interest in Hope)

Once Jakub starts to slither his way in between Hope and Noah, there’s nothing left for Lucas to do. After this, everything else is purely Henrik. We don’t see anything tailored towards Lucas until his return.

Before I get to Casa, I want to go on a tangent about something that happens during the disaster recoupling. Before you get chosen, there’s a moment where Lurik seems almost reluctant to pick you, looking over at Noah (who’s with Priya) and they end up giving a really shitty speech. For the Lucas stans, That negative recoupling speech is supposed to be said by Henrik because of his lack of interest in MC. Remember when both men are introduced, their default dialogue has Lucas interested in Hope and MC, while Henrik has an interest in Priya and Lottie. You have to outright reject Lucas in order to get Henrik’s attention. Besides that, when Lucas leaves, Henrik has that dialogue claiming how you probably wish it was him who left instead of Lucas which again makes sense since by default, Lucas likes Mc. So when it comes time for the disaster recoupling, Henrik looking over at Priya and saying how he wants her make sense because he’s actually interested in her and he’s stuck choosing between Marisol (not interested), Chelsea (a girl he hasn’t known for that long and is clearly into Gary), Lottie (someone he had feelings for at one point but she became too wrapped up in Gary to acknowledge him), and the MC who (by default) has feelings for his friend Lucas. The reason Lucas says it on his route (the one where you have to use reverse psychology on the girls to get him to stay) is because the game has him programmed as Henrik. Lucas is not supposed to be there, Henrik is, so he ends up with his reactions and dialogue.

Continuing on, the whole casa amor arc is purely for Henrik. We see that he wanted the other girls, but got left with MC. On top of that, he saw how they didn’t reciprocate his feelings plus the video clip where it looks like MC was nibbling that guy’s ear (proving her lack of interest in him). So as a way to move on, he couples up with the first girl who showed interest in him, Blake. Why would Lucas, the man who is so interested in MC, choose Blake? Especially if MC showed her loyalty to him by rejecting the other guys in the main villa. While Henrik interprets the clip as her moving on because of past occurrences, I feel like Lucas would know the clip that he sees of her is of the same challenge he and the boys took. Heck, he and Hope (if you don’t take it) do the same 30 second kissing challenge. The only reason why Lucas chose Blake, was because Henrik chose Blake.

Gary the main and Lucas the secondary aka Rennell vs. Koh

Besides Henrik (obviously) and Noah somewhat, the only other guy that Lucas has a close tie to in his arc is Gary. When the guys first come in, theirs immediately this tension between Gary and Lucas. Gary thinks of Lucas as a cocky rich pretty boy, and Lucas thinks and even says Gary is a man who beds anything that walks. The tension worsens when Lucas reveals that he has an interest in MC causing Gary, who also has a crush on her no matter the route, to sweat. On top of that, Marisol mentions to Gary that MC may have feelings for him right back. The only time the rivalry gets pushed to the side, is when Roccogate happens. If you’re apart of the drama, Lucas defends you during the tweets game and either of them can have a moment to check on you at the fire pit. The rivalry ends when Lucas leaves the villa.

The only time the rivalry comes back is if your on a Gary's route during the R!Hannah drama. Lucas and Hannah are supposed to act as a test of temptation for you and Gary. Despite his behavior, Gary is not really tempted by Hannah. MC on the other hand, is kind of supposed to be tempted by Lucas. Both he and Gary have genuine feelings for MC and both of them also connected with her on a deep level, so when he comes back she’s stuck choosing between two great guys she got to know, her day 1 and the one who got away.

The rivalry officially ends when you choose between the two. If you choose Gary, you guys come out the whole ordeal much stronger. Fully trusting each other, and finally able to enjoy the rest of your stay in the villa in peace (well Lottie is still there, but at this point she’s irrelevant). If you choose Lucas without cheating, you guys reunite and also have a very nice time in the villa. Surprisingly, things go smoothly for both couples.

Honestly? Priya is gorgeous and all but she's not that good of a friend, way too immature for her age and I don't pity her getting dumped at all. She was right about not fitting in to be honest. I think it was her fate that she was in line for a dumping.

I don't think Lucas should have been an LI, he's not much of a good one and the same goes for Ibrahim. I just don't trust them around MC...sorry. They just weren't made for her.

Noah should have stayed off limits if they well knew they weren't planning on letting us have him in the first place, it was SO messy and I hate the entire concept of operation Nope. As sad as it is...they should have gave him a proper route or not at all.

They should have continued with the "Player Bobby" storyline...because why do I feel like it was dropped after they saw his popularity to please the mass? But with the switch of writers I guess we'll never know.

Also Returning Hannah and Returning Lurik were a waste of time. They didn't add anything to the plot and should have just stayed at home. What "rekindling flame" storyline- I don't see it.

Priya - 100% agree. I said it in another ask, Priya is one year older than I am canon. She’s so immature and she’s not ready for a relationship. I didn’t feel bad when she was dumped either. My mc happily helped her pack like bye.

Lucas, I do like him. He’s probably one of the only LIs in S2 I can still stomach but I’m currently trying to get through Gary (very slowly). Lucas definitely can rub people the wrong way though so I can see why you dislike him as an LI.

Noah’s route is 1000% the worst afterthought in LITG history. The way they just made him available at the end… I like Noah but I like his headcanon. His route is pretty difficult to do, I always do it along with someone else so I can just restart the day to finish with him and the other LI.

Bobby as a player. I’ve gone back and forth on this. I used to be a Bobby Stan (yes, yes, go ahead and gasp) and thought it was possible they wanted to hint this then I decided I didn’t think he was. I think this was another victim of FB lazy writing - if you’re not with Bobby, he’s clearly just playing the field in friendship couples which could come off with a player vibe so it fits but it comes off as he’s not genuine if you are coupled. If you didn’t know, Bobby can give a friendship couple speech at the first recouple (no one ask me what he says it was literally my first play through and I’ve never gotten it again). I don’t think Bobby is a player but could have been interesting to see it in the game!

Okay but YES. I cannot stand returning Hannah so any scenario where I never have to see her face again, I’m for it. Where do I sign up?? Also yeah, I guess the only purpose returning lurik will do is if you want to lose (which some people do) so it does add to the story there. But Hannah? Yeah goodbye, go write another book about your thirty seconds in the villa 😂

stan is definitely mike. there is no doubt. it's obvious. their families and lives are basically the same and their personality is pretty much alike! they're both paladins too??? like??? they're both seen as selfish at some point but they're just struggling! they hate feeling vulnerable and are really really stubborn when it comes to arguments. they have this inferiority complex they try to hide with their savior complex and both of them have this extreme fear of not being enough and losing the people they love!

kyle has to be will because he's super best friends in a definitely not gay way with stan (i had to make byler and style happen okay). they're both smart, sweet, love their families, they're done with literally everyone and follow morals and righteousness! maybe will isn't exactly like kyle because he loses his temper over nothing (it often is because of cartman, really) and is able to go to extremes sometimes. but i do think that when they get mad at stan/mike they're pretty much the same! and they fight for what's right and tbh they've been through a lot and they're trying so hard give them a breaaaak

butters is obviously el because he often doesn't understand what's going on and had a pretty shitty life (specifically because of his dad). just like el! they're both kindhearted but they aren't dumb and would do anything for their friends. plus, butters is pretty much bald already so- plus he became a main character only to cover up the fact that kenny was dead (cof cof el appearing when will's missing/dead cof cof)

kenny is max and i KNOW it probably doesn't make sense but hear me out! kenny is the only one who treats butters like he deserves and actually sees him as a person and not some guy they can just use. the way kenny/max act around butters/el is basically the same thing and they both help them get out of their codependent relationships! and kenny is like in a huge coma in between death and life?? hello??? max in S4/5???? and kenny would be the one getting vecna'd and dying duh! tbh their personalities are alike too! they are the cool ones of their group and have strong opinions on people! they have a shitty life too and abuse never stopped them from being heroes.

hear me out do not judge before reading this: cartman is dustin. AND I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE THINKING BUT HEAR ME OUT- please forget about everything awful eric does (i know it's hard but please do) and focus on the good stuff! they're both highly intelligent and always make the best plans. they're definitely the brain of the group and can get sarcastic and mean and low-key manipulative if they want. but they're actually sweethearts??? like obviously dustin is kind and sweet but eric is too! sometimes! not too many times tho--- but i swear he is sometimes! and avoiding the fact that the cartman/butters dynamic is toxic af, if you only see the good moments they have and the fact that they're canon bffs it could be similar to dustin/el. i don't agree with most of the things eric does but we gotta admit that when he is on the good team he has awesome ideas but!!! no one!!! hears him!! just like dustin.

tolkien is lucas it's so damn obvious- they have they same arguments with stan/mike because they just don't get to understand their struggles and they never seem to listen to them when they're the voice of the reason most of the time. both tolkien and lucas are pretty logical and goal-oriented and have awesome ideas! they just want to have fun and chill and they're both really really sweet and hilarious! i don't think tolkien is as chaotic as lucas tho?? he's more on the calm side. but i think they're both similar in a lot of other stuff!!

clyde is soooo steve coded! they're both seen as dumb and superficial and cool and everyone thinks they're just the "popular guy" when actually they're so so sweet! they care so much about their friends and they try so hard to make everyone happy!!! even if they focus a lot on dating and image. girls don't really want them for their true selves (they only want steve for his looks and money and clyde because of his dad's job). and they cry and whine for EVERYTHING they're so done give them a break-

craig is so so so so much like robin! they're seen as sarcastic and serious at first but then when they open up they can't shut up. they have the same issue with social cues and they use sarcasm as a coping mechanism A LOT. plus they're clyde/steve's bffs and their dynamic is basically the same. they're highly intelligent and always have the best plans, although they didn't even intend to be there in the first place.

tweek is vickie because i said so and because vickie gives me the adhd/anxious energy tweek has. and because tweek is dating craig and i really really wanted creek to happen in this au.

please forget for a moment that i said mike is stan and just focus on personality here! wendy is so much like nancy! both girlbosses, love journalism, i don't have any proof but nancy was def class president, and both would gladly use a gun if needed. they're so strong and smart and always fight for what's right!! literally the same character. when everyone seems to be against them and their ideas they always fight for their stories! i admire them so much for that
