congratulations, mr. president
pairing: young!coriolanus snow x linnea lowtower. content: coriolanus is announced as president of Panem with his wife by his side. warning: none. an: idk this is short and simple. just randomly thought of it. I was gonna add smut but decided against it. tags: @fastlikealambo
Coriolanus knew that the stars were aligned for his future. And, he knew that they one day, would align as a stepping stone to the seat of the presidency. The odds were ever in his favor. Though, life threw him arils of sour pomegranate and his support system was minuscule once his father passed, life had proven that good things come to those who wait. He had waited long enough. It was finally his time.
Election season was brutal, but unlike his peers, Coriolanus could easily admit that he enjoyed it. He was full of charm, class, and intelligence that made everyone fall for him. He became the President of Panem at the tender age of 24. The world was in the palm of his hand.
It was the day of his swearing in. The sun rose early and the smell of freshly brewed coffee filled his hotel suite. He spent the evening alone, per his request, to collect himself before his swearing in. His blue eyes darted to the clock on the wall. He had an hour to prepare himself before he’d be whisked away to the center of the Capitol. He stepped to the bathroom to begin getting ready.
Hot showers were something he still was not used to. For thirteen years, he lived just above the poverty line, and cold showers became a norm. It was better than no water at all, he reasoned. Coriolanus ran his fingers through his short, damp hair as he fumbled around for his toothbrush and toothpaste.
Through the foggy mirror, he caught his reflection. He looked much different than he did during his time at the Academy and at University. He no longer had shaggy, blond curls, but rather a platinum blond and a haircut with short sides and considerable length at the top, that was always strategically brushed back. It made him look older, more mature. More powerful. His shoulders were stronger and more broad, and he oozed confidence with every step he took. A complete 180 change.
Coriolanus flicked off the bathroom light and whistled his way to the main room. Near the window was a rack of clothes. The option he’d chosen hung pressed and wrinkle free against an iron hanger. His fingers danced along the thick fabric. The circular buttons, his fingertips touched. Tigris’ design.
He dropped his towel and proceeded to get dressed. He eyed himself in the mirror as he buttoned his shirt. A small smile graced his lips. Patience was a virtue and it proved to leave him victorious.
A soft knock came from the door. Coriolanus dropped his coat on the bed and went to open it. “Who is—hi.”
“Good morning, Coriolanus.” Right past him walked his wife. His eyes followed her with every step she took. He let go of the door slowly and let it close behind them. “How are you feeling?” She sat elegantly at the foot of the bed. She crossed her leg at the knee, her brown skin a stark contrast against her white dress. Coriolanus released a shaky breath.
To say his wife was stunning was far from an understatement. Their marital union began once they graduated from the Academy. Coriolanus proposed to her the day of graduation with a unique ring—a two diamond band, one silver, and one ruby red. Six years with her by his side through the ups, downs, and in-betweens.
She was a sensual being. Even in her most classy and elegant attire. She picked out her dress for the occasion and she picked it well. She wore a figure-hugging white dress with a slit going up the left thigh. Her dress was sleeveless with feathers along the chest. On her feet were a heel a shade of the deepest crimson. Her makeup was bold, eyes and lips bleeding with crimson. Her locs were curled and curtained her back. His beautiful wife. His First Lady. His Queen of Panem.
“Fine,” he said shortly. He extended his hand and took hers into his. She was careful not to rest her head on his white shirt; she’d hate for his outfit to be tainted with makeup. “Even better now. I’m almost ready. Just need my jacket.” He nodded at his crimson trench coat that rested on the edge of the bed. She broke from his embrace and swiped the coat from his hands.
“Go.” She pointed to the full length mirror on the back of the hotel door. He followed her command with ease. Though shorter than him, the crown of her head could be seen behind his stature as she stood behind him. She took the coat in her hands and gestured for him to slide his arms in the sleeves. One by one.
Her hands smoothed the non-existent wrinkles on the shoulders of the coat. Coriolanus lifted his chin, an unfamiliar sense of power coursing through his veins. On Linnea’s lips played a smile of approval. “Well, Mr. Snow, it’s about that time, yeah?” Right on cue, a knock on the door. It was time.
Coriolanus met her eyes through the mirror and nodded. “It’s that time.”
“It is with great pride that we welcome your new president of Panem,” Lucretius Lucky Flickerman said lowly. His dark eyes scanned over the crowd who itched with anticipation for their new leader to enter. “Coriolanus Snow!”
A pair of titanium doors opened. The logo of the Capitol split in two and slowly, Coriolanus and Linnea came into view. Capitol citizens roared with excitement. Coriolanus glanced at Linnea, who was already looking at him with a smile on her lips.
They were guided toward two chairs in the center of the suite. It was an overwhelming sight to see. Tens of hundreds of thousands people, proud and ecstatic for the arrival of the man who was determined to make Panem the greatest it could ever be. They were here for him, for Coriolanus Snow. The man who fought and clawed his way to the top. The man who went from something, to nothing, to everything in a short amount of time. Who could stop him? Coriolanus squeezed her hand tightly.
“Please, everyone, give it up for President Coriolanus Snow, and his First Lady, Linnea Snow!” A roar of cheers erupted. Dreams had become a reality.
Linnea leaned up and brought her lips to his ear, “Congratulations, Mr. President.” The words rolled off her tongue smoother than molasses. And the look in her eye was killer. Was she trying to make him weak in the knees in front of everyone? Putty in her hands, he was. Desire glazed over her brown eyes. She would pay for it later.
Coriolanus’ arm draped around her waist and his hand ghosted over the swell of her bottom. He brought his lips to her ear. “Save the congratulations for later, sweetheart. We’ll celebrate the right way, my beautiful First Lady…”
She smiled softly. “I love you.”
Not caring about the crowd ahead of them, his lips ghosted over hers. “Mhm, I love you, too.”

Old friendships taken advantage of her innate kindness, but her parents always pushed herto not lose it, promising her that, one day, she would have found true friends. Because of her past, she's very often somewhere between throwing herself into the search for new friends and the fear of how people can react. Her ability to come in contact with any kind of spirit has the power to make her feel uneasy, and this is a part of her which she continuously refuses. She'll runs away at the first sign of danger, but she managed to take action only when, during the third year, she had seen her friends being at risk because of her fear of fighting back. CLOSED STARTER for @linnea-lorenzo at the secret santa banquet
Camryn pokes her head around, seeking out the person that the simply wrapped box in her hands belongs to. Inside of it is a fleece blanket with a design of a speaker in the middle, surrounded by music notes and patches of color. Along with it is the worry it’s something her giftee ends up disliking.
“Hi, I think I got you for Secret Santa. You’re Linnea, right?”

“Oh boy, do I have an update for you.” Carter laughed as he met his older brother in the family room. It was furnished in an exquisite design that couldn’t be farther from Carter’s taste. The only thing in the room that he liked the look of was the grand piano but even that made his heart ache a little with a longing of his old passion. He wasn’t going to tell Rhett that their mother kept asking him to play for her, and there was no way he’d ever tell him he’d been putting off doing it for her.
“Gianna’s in town and so is Celia and they hate me possibly more than ever. I guess that isn’t really an update since they’ve been hating me. Oh, and let’s not get into Linnea rejecting me. Something has changed— you’re the one with the steady relationship and I’m the one wondering what the fuck happened to make me this single.” He sighed as he plopped down on the couch.
“Anything new with you?”

Now at IPR: The Details of Our Escape
The Details of Our Escape is a new roleplaying game from ENnie Award-winning game designer Tyler Crumrine, two-time Eisner-nominated comics artist Linnea Sterte, and Windham-Campbell Prize winner in fiction Renee Gladman. Played with a standard 28-tile set of dominos instead of dice, players control a caravan of over 2000 people in search of a new home.
What they're leaving and what kinds of strange & wonderful sights they encounter along their journey is up to you. Which groups continue all the way to the caravan's final destination is up to fate.
The Details of our Escape can be played as a single-session one-shot, spread over multiple sessions to create a campaign, or used as a session-zero to create characters and settings to play in an alternate system.

Hi everyone!
February might be the shortest month of the year, but we sure managed to fill it with plenty of things, including a bit of a break after hitting a certain Steam Page milestone. Let’s get into it!
The Arcadia Fallen II Steam page is live! We’ve been working hard to get it all set up with cool new screenshots. We’re still quite some way from release (we’ve got a whole Kickstarter planned after all!), but having a Steam page is super helpful because we can now partake in Steam events. It’s a great way for a small studio like ours to find new players; and if they like what they see, they can wishlist and get an email when the game is ready. A win-win for everyone!^^
Speaking of Steam events! We’re part of the Woman’s Day Sale on Steam! It’s arranged by the brilliant people over at WINGS, who do an amazing job funding teams led by women and gender marginalized folks. With how tough the industry is at the moment, the work they do is invaluable, so be sure to check out the events, talks and sweet deals, and help support the cause!
Prep work for our next Kickstarter continues. We’ve done this twice now, so we’ve had some practice, but it’s always kinda surprising just how much work goes into planning, writing and designing graphics. Marketing is tough! So it’s a great motivator to see that more than a hundred people have already signed up on the pre-launch page.
If you haven’t gotten around to it yet, hit the ‘Notify on launch’ button on the Kickstarter page to be the first to know when our campaign goes live. Thank you so much for your support; we’ll work hard to make sure the campaign will be a party! ❤
Speaking of Kickstarter! We’re very happy to announce that we’ll have an extra pair of hands working to get the demo sparkly and ready for the campaign! Linnea is a combined programmer and producer who used to work with the good folks at Triple Topping. We’re so excited to have them join the team to help Daniel out with coding and help us all keep track of the different projects we’re working on. Welcome, Linnea!
To round up this month's devlog, here's a time-lapse of this month's header image, accompanied by a cute little jingle Jesper whipped up! ^^
Thank you so much for following our journey! And we’ll see you in April for another DevLog!
Cheers!
- The Galdra Team

Thomas Dowdeswell, by Joseph Blackburn c. 1778. Dowdeswell was a Lieutenant and Captain (a ranking convention peculiar to the Brigade of Guards that I won’t get into here) in the 1st Foot Guards during the American Revolution, and this portrait shows him in the modified campaign uniform he wore in the early years of the conflict.
Superficially it follows what we might expect from an officer’s garb, but differs from standard regulations in many interesting ways. Firstly, Dowdeswell’s hat is not the cocked “tricorn” (to use the later term) that we’re used to – it’s been modified by being cut down into a small round hat, with the lace left off and only one side pinned up, plus a few feathers.
He carries a fusil and bayonet and the accoutrements that go with it – belting and a cartridge pouch, making him appear in this regard almost indistinguishable from a regular private soldier. It seems he doesn’t have a sword. He has kept his gorget and sash, but removed the gold lace from around his buttons. In fact, his regimental coat has been cut down to a jacket, with the skirts shortened.
Besides these more obvious modifications, there are many minor ones that set him apart, from the pointed design of the cuffs to the slender trim of white cord around his collar and turnbacks. It is an ensemble that doesn’t match most regulations, but fits with reality.
Officers rarely modified their uniforms wholesale during the war, but nor were they all strident followers of the 1768 regulations. The traditional rank signifiers of sash, gorget and epaulettes were sometimes present in different combinations. Not, of course, that a formal portrait necessarily denotes exactly what was worn during active service, but in Dowdeswell’s case he seems to have specifically worn his “campaign uniform.”
There are further caveats to this – the Brigade of Guards made a lot of specific uniform modifications prior to deploying to North America in 1776, but didn’t keep all of them up throughout the war. Officers dressed differently in different theatres and at different times.
But I think the Dowdeswell portrait gives a nice indication of some of the variation at play. Much of this comes from the brilliant research of Professor Gregory Urwin, who has studied and analysed hundreds of portraits of British officers from the period. For the full modifications undertaken by the Brigade of Guards in 1776, see this excellent article by William W. Burke and Linnea M. Bass https://www.military-historians.org/company/journal/guards/guards.htm 15/15

Seasonal Screams: A History of Holiday Horror will be published in paperback and e-book on October 31 by author Adrian Roe (First Scream to the Last: The Definitive Guide to '80s Horror). Graham Humphreys designed the cover art.
It features exclusive interviews with Neil Marshall (The Descent), Melissa Anderson (Happy Birthday to Me), Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism), Barney Cohen (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter), Ellie Cornell (Halloween 4 & 5), Linnea Quigley (Silent Night, Deadly Night), Jeff Lieberman (Satan’s Little Helper), and Michael Gilio (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves).
Whether it’s the dry autumnal leaves that shatter under your feet with every step during Halloween, or the cold crisp snow turning the world white over Christmas, there has always been a special relationship with film and the changing seasons. Or more specifically, with the public holidays that are celebrated during these traditional and familiar dates marked by default on our calendars. To some, these moments represent something far more profound, an annual reminder of where we were, who we were with, as the memories of yesteryear are invoked during holidays that we have become accustomed to since childhood. For varying reasons there has also been a creative bond between film and these annual events for almost as long as the medium has existed. We can trace holiday themed movies back to 1898, with the release of George Albert Smith’s Santa Claus, which is believed to be the first ever “Christmas Movie”. Smith would also direct the short The Old Maid’s Valentine in 1900, which would use February the 14th to deliver a surprise. Victor Sjöström’s silent movie, The Phantom Carriage (1921), would use New Year’s Eve as the backdrop for its haunting premise, while holidays such as Halloween and Easter have been channeled through film on countless occasions. Although no genre is immune to the adaptability and pulling power of the holiday themed concept, no other has used this narrative quite as effectively as the horror genre. Maybe it’s the irony of chaos, bloodshed, and fear during what is traditionally perceived as a happy and joyous occasion, regardless of the celebration in question. Perhaps the alluring promise of a villain so deranged that they are willing to use the happiest of days for such pain and carnage takes that fear factor to another level. There is another clear benefit of this creative allegiance, which is possibly the strongest explanation of them all - the repeat offender. Creating a horror movie that happens to coincide with a familiar annual event not only opens the door for sequels but gives us a horror villain who will become synonymous with our favorite holiday– a filmmaker’s dream, if you will. A guaranteed audience hungry to revisit their favorite holiday villain, whatever the occasion. The horror fan is a loyal breed, and I can’t think of an annual holiday where moviegoers aren’t searching for that perfect holiday horror movie to mark the occasion. Whatever the reason, film would not be what it is without the “Holiday Horror” subgenre, which has managed to influence and evolve due to this most unlikely convergence.

hi! what are your top 5 horror movies?
1.) Return of the Living Dead
Zombies, A+ comedy, A+ horror, and Linnea Quigley stripping down to only thigh high socks and dancing in a cemetery. What more could you ask for in a movie?! It also had one of the best soundtracks ever and one of the best creepy zombie designs (Tarman still creeps me out to this day).
2.) Evil Dead 2
This movie was another example of comedy and horror blending seamlessly. The creature effects were wild and Bruce Campbell was hot as fuck here. I watched this movie like a million times after I discovered it.
3.) Brainscan
Not that strong on horror but is one of the most relatable movies I’ve ever seen. The protagonist was basically a gender swapped teenage me if I were rich (a horror/video game/comic book obsessed nerd with a snarky attitude and a crippling inability to make a move on a crush). I still want his exact bedroom.
4.) Whispering Corridors: Wishing Stairs
Actually I would put the WC series as a whole on here but that would be cheating. I love these super atmospheric Korean horror flicks that focus on the relationships between girls. Also very relatable.
5.) A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
My favorite Freddy movie (and Freddy is my favorite slasher). So many of my favorite Freddy moments come from this one movie. I loved the idea of the victims fighting him with their own dream-induced powers. It was just so cool!
