Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men will be celebrating our 10th birthday on April 13 in Portland, Oregon, with a live show at Clinton Street Theater (10 AM - 12 PM) followed by a birthday party at Books With Pictures (2 - 5 PM)!

Both events are free and all-ages-friendly (assuming you're down with your kid learning a few choice swears).

The live show is mask-mandatory; masks will be provided at the door for anyone who doesn't bring their own. (The party is outdoors and therefore mask-optional.)

There will be both party favors (free) and merch (legal currency or barter), the latter including a fancy new 10th-anniversary print by Colleen Coover!

The hallucination Morse Code (Part 1)

For those who didn't see hallucination, it ends with morse code. Here's the full show uploaded by someone else. I'll have a proper archive up in a few weeks that has each segment separated and a few other things.

This is going to be 2 parts because this is likely in YouTube's content ID system because people were uploading segments. I don't really know how you would translate this, so I'm mainly just putting this out there for someone else to try because I keep getting junk when I try to translate this.

I’ve mentioned this before but I want to do a large over the top event for my 30th birthday.

It won’t be until next year and I’m still thinking of a theme

Under these conditions would yall attend something like this be completely honest and tell me why in the mentions before I start investing my time in planning

It will be in down town Austin tx

I will have to do tickets of some kind but it wouldn’t be no more than $20 (unless I find a place that allows vip section you can upgrade if you want). This would be to pay for the venue/food/drinks

It will be in Dec, I’m hoping to find something indoors but it’s been 80 degrees on my birthday many a times.

Possible themes so far: studio 54/ mad max/ Beyoncé southern/ anime cosplay. These depend on the venues I have in mind

Possible dates : 12/6/25 or 12/13/25 or 12/20/25

I want to treat this as a large scale event so I’d have bag checks and all that maybe look into Uber and Lyft codes I want everyone to be safe and feel included. Accessibility all that

Here’s my opinion on the Big Bang event that happened: Horrible

The actual event itself felt like a toned down version of the end event, and was 2 minutes shorter than the normal end event. Other than that, all of it was just a showcase of next season, not an event. They spent 10 minutes just showing Lego and racing and “Oooh space and pretty colors”

So, Atlus and Metaphor will be at Anime Expo in LA.

First of all : there will be a panel dedicated to the world of the game. It will be streamed on July 5th from 10:30-11:20AM PST on Anime Expo's youtube channel.

Then, by "demo experience in Gauntlet Runner" I thought they meant the demo itself in a segment in the runner ( which would've been weird considering at SGF and Atlus FES they had 3 different demos you could play with only 1 having a bit in the runner ) but then NO, upon closer inspection it appears that the set is literally the Gauntlet Runner.

What.

Seems like they're also bringing over the Seeker statue from Atlus FES. I don't have any high quality images of it but it looks like this :

On May 9th, 2024, I hosted my first live and in-person public science communication event as “Katia Plant Scientist” at the @gardenmuseum London! Here are some highlights from the event, photographed by @slothskitchen.cuisine .

Branch Out: The World of Seeds with Katia Plant Scientist featured a presentation paired with an interactive “make and take” workshop on the theme of seeds and their biology.

The guests were enchanted with an informative talk on the evolution and anatomy seeds. We touched upon other plant science topics such as how seeds find new habitats and how seeds know when to germinate.

The guests then explored a fascinating exhibit of exotic seeds from the Garden Museum’s extensive collection, including the Coco de Mer aka the world’s biggest seed.

The second part of my talk was practical advice for amateur gardeners on how to select, store, and reliably germinate seeds.

Guests applied their new knowledge in the hands-on portion of the workshop by planting herb and vegetable seeds in pots and setting up Petri dishes for in vitro seed germination. The guests left with at least four pots of plants for their own gardening projects.

With support from Samia Qureshi (plant science educator at the Garden Museum) this exciting event finally became a reality after two months of diligent planning.

This workshop was part of the Garden Museum’s Branch Out series. I am grateful to Ms. Qureshi and the Garden Museum staff for their time and energy spent setting up the room, providing workshop supplies, and assisting with IT for the event. The Garden Museum team could not have been more accommodating and welcoming, and I eagerly look forward to future collaborations with them.
