Happy 39th Birthday  Mince Fratelli.
Real name Gordon McRory, the Scottish Drummer was born 16th May 1983. Gordon McRory is best known by his stage name Mince Fratelli: he is the drummer and backing vocalist in Scottish band The Fratellis.
The band formed in Glasgow in 2004 after Mince and other band members stuck advert sin a windows of record stores in the city.  The "Fratelli" pseudonym name came from the criminal family in The Goonies and received their first radio playing in 2005, on central Scotland's Beat 106 (later XFM Scotland, now Capital Scotland) Fratelli means brothers in Italian so I think them taking the surname fits perfectly. I have heard that bassist Barry's mother's maiden name was Fratelli, Barry's actual surname is Wallace, but it really was Fratelli before his mother remarried.
For the drummers out there Mince plays with a Premier Modern Classic (mahogany and bird’s-eye maple and a Ludwig wood snare.
The band have released 6 studio albums, the latest,  Half Drunk Under a Full Moon came out in April 2021, having been delayed a bit due to the pandemic, it reached number 12 in the UK and 3 in Scottish charts. Their single Chelsea Daggers is their biggest hit to date and is a great anthem like song.
I’ve chosen another anthem from the lads, a version of the Baccara hit  Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, the song was famously adopted by The Scotland football team after they qualified for the UEFA Euro 2020 championships.

Franz Angerer ~1900
Tumblr media
Franz Angerer Romantic guitar from ~ 1900 - high quality master built guitar in the Viennese style! Franz Angerer (* 20.1.1851 Vienna, † 16.2.1924 Vienna) was one of the most famous guitar and violin makers of the Vienna School. It all started with Johann Georg Stauffer, who must probably be counted among the most creative guitar builders of all. Students such as Johann Gottfried Scherzer, Friedrich Schenk, Ludwig Reisinger, Josef Swossil, Wendelin Lux, Franz Xaver Güttler and Franz Angerer continued the tradition and from today's point of view form the foundation of classical Viennese guitar making. In addition to his work as a guitar maker, Franz Angerer was initially also a member of G. Dänzer's quartet. From 1885 he was completely self-employed as an instrument maker. In the years 1888-1910 he was also active as a guitarist at the Vienna Hofoper and the Burgtheater. During his active time Franz Angerer trained numerous students and his son in instrument making. This guitar is a real gem - you can immediately see the great quality of the craftsmanship and the high-quality materials used to build this guitar. Back and sides are made of beautiful flamed maple. The top is made of high quality spruce. The fingerboard is made of ebony. The neck is height adjustable. This guitar is built as light as a feather and is perfectly crafted in every detail. This gives it a resonance like no other romantic guitar we have had so far. Read the full article

(Long Post) So what's been going on? Some new inspiration! Still waiting on bass heads and finding the correct paint, Benjamin Moore Regal Semi-Gloss color number 333 with primer pre-mixed to get this Club Date going. It's been tough to stay motivated on some days here and there though. Turning gigs down for health safety reasons... That's a first. The current political climate and social issues that have not changed in generations... I guess we all have to live in our own truth and do what's best for us but don't forget to put on the other's shoe and take a minute to see how your decisions will effect them. I've mostly been listening to music and shedding stroke types in different grips with F. Moellar, B. Gladstone and G. L. Stone techniques. Looking through some old Ludwig catalogs and historical info recently, it reminded me of being a kid in middle school band where we had marching drums from the 70's & early 80's and a few kits thanks to the local high school from the 60's that were black oyster pearl, psychedelic red & clown vomit (AKA Psychedelic Citrus Mod) hahaha! We would sit in the back of the room behind the timpani and look through the Thoroughbred Music catalog in black & white and we drooled over the early 90's Ludwig Classic Maple kits with 2 basses and all the toms on a Gibraltar rack haha! Then we'd look into a 1987 Ludwig/Musser catalog with the 1986 Spirit of Atlanta drum line mid drum break! Simple stuff but it drove our passion. Heck, I bet the drummer at my family's church in the late 70's/early 80's (when I was an infant) was playing a Ludwig and man, my first 3 years at Spirit of Atlanta getting the crap beat out of us on the field in rehearsal everyday, carrying those Ludwigs even hough I was on cymbals for 2 of those. Those were some character building days.Trying to figure out how to make art out of where I am, what's happening now but truly from me and not exactly how or what the people who inspired me did.
