Happy Ghost Swap week! Here's what I've been cooking, for the anonymous prompt "Your most self-indulgent crossover."

Couldn't think of anything clever for the Banana Man, especially since I kinda wanted to avoid making him a cat as it seemed too obvious, so Hedgehog it is. As for Lynne... Well, she keeps dying and reviving, so what could fit better than a Phoenix? Well, honestly she ended up looking more parrot but eh, also works. Her hair also landed itself really well into a bird's crest, so doubly good there!

Honestly I wanted to draw a bit more, use these designs for a scenario or something, but work has kept me busy so I don't think I could finish that before Ghost Swap was over... Perhaps some other time I'll get to that.

“See you’ve gotten acquainted with the old girl,” Sandra Lynn smiled at her, rattling the cat feed and watching as the cats made their way out of the woods and across the lawn.  Aelwyn didn’t respond, only frowning as Lady hopped off of her lap, the cat stationing herself at a food bowl and accepting a pet behind the ears from Sandra Lynn.  “Not surprised Lady found you, she loves a lap to sit on,” she told her, laughing to herself as she watched two of the cats, looked like Marron and Dougy, fight over one bowl, throwing a bit of kibble out on the porch so they’d get off of each other. “She likes quieter folks, I think, or at least that's what I tell Jawbone cuz she really hates him and he doesn’t buy the whole ‘cats vs dogs’ thing.” She didn’t get much of a response, only a bored look, though Sandra Lynn didn’t mind, she wasn’t against talking to herself, just letting the words hang in the air as she finished feeding the cats.  “Lady?”  “This old girl,” she pointed the calico out, taking a seat in the rocker across from Aelwyn and letting Lady crawl up into her lap. “‘s not terribly original, I know, but she was the first out of the Colony to be named so she drew the short straw. Fits her well, though.”  “You call them the Colony? Does that not sound cultish to you?” Aewlyn sneered, challenging her as she watched Sandra Lynn across the porch.  “A little bit,” she brushed off easily, not taking the bait, “but they’re my cult and I’m their little cult leader cuz I’m the one with the cat food.” Aelwyn grimaced, watching as Sandra Lynn pulled Lady onto her back so that she was sitting like a baby in the crook of her arm, cooing at the cat as she rocked in her rocker. “This house is full of freaks.”  “With you in it,” Sandra Lynn quipped back, leaving it at that as she enjoyed her evening routine, Aelwyn or not.

finally after 3 months of constant hyper fixating , i’ve finally started cooking with a StEx oc. i’m being so silly and self indulgent but who cares.

don’t have anything concrete but his name is lynn , he’s a coach car who used to go by evelyn <3 specializes in makeup n stuff <3 i like to think they’re newer than dinah but not as new as pearl.

he’s good friends with the rest of the coaches and was super nervous to come out to them. but i like to think they were extremely supportive of him. he’s a little bit of a bitch but he’s got a good heart.

lynn has no real opinion on rusty , he joins in on the teasing but thinks rusty’s got spunk.

he IS a fan of greaseball admittedly — but then electra comes along and lynn is enamored with the swag. although he thinks they do have a bit of an ego. but lynn’s like i can handle it. i think it could be a very cute relationship of lynn doing his makeup and cheering him on , perhaps being his coach in the race.

i haven’t made a design yet because i don’t know how to design train outfits. but he’s there. i love him. does anyone hear me.

I'll admit, I was a little worried about the format change. Maybe people wouldn't like it. Maybe it'd fizzle out. Maybe, maybe, maybe... ...but no! Would you look at THAT! With 98 (?!???) participations, this edition blew away the previous biggest ever, last year's, which capped at 67. CONTINUES IN PART TWO!

Sasha's Finest Hour...

This is perhaps the only episode of Attack on Titan I would willingly watch if I were to sit down and put it back on.

"I'm Home".

Way back in the early days of season two.

Doesn't matter how much time has passed since the finale, my love and appreciation for Sasha has never wavered. And this episode here, where she showed us what she was truly made of should have been the start of much greater things for our legendary Potato Girl.

Her courage in this episode cannot be overstated. Armed with nothing but a bow and arrow, she finally managed to cast aside her fear of the Titans to save her hometown, and in doing so she saved the girl who she'd later take in as her own sister. Sasha has always been one of the most noble characters on the show, and nowhere is that clearer than in the moment she stays behind to ensure Kaya's escape.

Her character growth in the span of a single season is nothing short of impressive. She went from the odd one out among the recruits to throwing herself in the clutches of these monsters all to save an innocent life, and LIVED to tell about it.

It's from that moment that Sasha went from a silly, self-indulgent farm girl into the kind of warrior the Scout Regiment needed.....And one who earned her right to wear the Wings of Freedom. Not many who can say they fought their way out of the arms of a Titan with only an arrow for self-defense.

Sasha proved she's much stronger than she appears, her sense of justice and her compassion for others is what makes her stand out among Eren's circle of friends. And it's moments like this episode that are why I believe so strongly that Sasha had the potential to rival even Mikasa as the main heroine of this story. She's a girl with no extraordinary superhuman abilities, just a strong will to live and to stand with those who need her the most.

And we FULLY DESERVED to see a whole lot more of what this episode promised than what we ultimately got. We deserved to see more of Sasha becoming the big sister figure she was to Kaya. We deserved to see more of her with her father who was so proud of her, her mother who we NEVER saw share even a single scene with Sasha....with Mikasa her supposed close friend and roommate, with Niccolo the man who abandoned his prejudiced mindset because of her....with freaking Eren who she had once trusted.....And YES, even with the Gabi Braun, who could have learned much from Sasha without the story taking the extreme turn it did on the heels of Sasha's incredible growth......

....And Hajime Isayama owes us DEARLY for denying us all of the potential laid out by this episode.

This episode offered so much towards one character, and it could have gone even farther. Even without outright killing a Titan, something else we absolutely deserved to see at least once, this was Sasha's proudest moment. We needed more episodes/chapters like this where Sasha could show what she was truly made of.

Sasha Braus, truly the most noble of them all. ❤️ ⚔️ 🥔 ⚔️ ❤️

And with that said, "I'm Home" is also the one episode where my other favorite gal, the too often overlooked Lynne gets her introduction.

Definitely another gal for whom this episode should absolutely have been the start of something much greater.

May be weird that I feel such a strong attachment to a character who was not long for this series, but Lynne still left her mark on me. Like Sasha she is beautiful, compassionate, and rock solid in the face of danger, striking back with the same ferocity as the Titans who are constantly on the attack.

She's a capable member of Squad Miche, and her kindness and care towards Conny and the other members of the 104th make me wonder what kind of relationship she would have had with the main squad if she had been given that chance. No doubt she'd have been a force to be reckoned with, and a force to keep up with, given her gallant stand at Castle Utgard.

Truly a character who deserves a second chance to shine. And this episode gave us a great introduction to what could have been. But once again, we were robbed of that by an author who never acts on the potential he puts onscreen. But that hasn't stopped me from exploring what she could have been, what her story might've looked like, and giving her the spotlight she's overdue for.

Remember her face, because she deserves that much. Lynne earned her Wings of Freedom. ❤️ ⚔️ ❤️

Long story short, this is the one episode of Attack on Titan I'd put on if I were to do so again. This episode gave us much, and it should have been the foundation for far more than what ultimately ended up being.

Two great characters, both who richly deserved so much better.

And that's not all I have to say about this episode, guys. We'll be back on this one soon enough, so stay tuned.

(prefacing this by the fact that this is made at around midnight my time, so this is probably just my brain being a stinker rn)

i hate how i just dont have many thoughts for tsp rn

its still my main fandom, i love it dearly, but i cant think of any story or thing to do with it rn, and its making me sad

i wish i had a unique narrator design thats elegant and unique and brings something new to the table

i wish i had a cool sprawling au that tells its own story thats based in tsp

i wish i could have an au with an amazing story that brings something new while also staying the same, the balance of new and old

i want to find that spike in brainrot for the game again, i want to do something with it

but my mind rn is just...

blank.

idk, it might just be the late night voices speaking, but im just worried that im not really bringing anything new.

i want to make a cool new au that tells this cool story with lore drops n plot events and whatnot

but my aus are simple n light mostly, out of bounds/fourth wall is self indulgent "hey what if they were taken to the real world", control group is just me sticking to the base game while also still doing the real world schtick of fourth wall

and outside of that... nothing.

i want to tell a story, i want to explore their characters again, to tug at heartstrings and to have people feel

idk. maybe im just feeling self conscious over having fourth wall as an au

n thats not even getting to how ive been feeling self conscious over my designs recently, with tk, curator, and lynne their designs feel unique enough that i feel okay with. but with my narry? with virgil??? i feel like the swoop isnt enough anymore. i feel like i need to do more with it but idk what or where or why

because i love my narry design so far, but meanie voice in my heads telling me that its too simple, that theres a dozen other narrator designs like mine that are 10x more cooler and unique and original than mine, n i feel bad bc i felt this issue last year, and its one of those things that doesnt seem like its going to leave me any time soon.

My last entry for @fyeahghosttrick's Ghost Swap Liiight 2024, this one is self-indulgent to the max and I'm extremely grateful for the anonymous prompter who requested self-indulgent crossovers (A-54) for the excuse to write it (not that I really need one, but still.) I also used the A-28 prompt from @caravanlurker regarding Kamila's taste in music; I'm afraid I rather hijacked it but many regards for the plot bunny!

Summary: In the FFVI/GT AU, they prepare to go face the full might of Sith and his Empire, along with the inevitability of another familiar face arrayed against them. Kamila tries to convince Captain Memry that there's more to the situation than any of them can understand.

“But he did resist,” Kamila pointed out, crossing her arms and giving Memry a belligerent look. “Didn’t he? Isn’t that how Mama and Lynne and Missile had time to sneak on the ship?”

“Look, don’t sweat the details,” Memry said, waving this logical objection away. “The point is, the guy is great at impersonating other people, okay? It’s no wonder he had everyone fooled.”

4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

Whatever I'm currently learning about worms its way into my writing. An Arm and a Leg and The Sticking Place are rooted in my love of cephalopods, and my philosophical interest in body neutrality and self-love through self-discovery. In Favor With Their Stars and The Ship of Theseus stem from my interests in AI, space exploration, engineering, humanism, bodies, neurodiversity, and personhood. Wave Hello to the Void is an ode to monstrosity, gender, the interrelationship between hyperfixation and passion, interconnectedness, and physics. A lot of my stories are seeded by poetry I read. I get a lot of inspiration from images, metaphor, and turns of phrase that make me reconsider how I view the world. I love the ways in which Rae Armantrout, Jane Wong, Maggie Nelson, and Robert Wood Lynn have made me reconsider my POV in particular.

17. What do you do when writing becomes difficult?

Body doubling and rubbering ducking with my betas. Most of my problems with writing come from being slow and struggling to initiate the task. With a buddy writing at the same time (Discord sprinties ftw), I am able to at least get something on the page, and having the cheerleader there to give some immediate feedback will usually be enough reinforcement to unstick me. Same works for my original writing, which is why I find having a writing group to be indispensable.

46. How would you describe your style?

Lyrical? Maybe a bit self-indulgent. I'll get a turn of phrase stuck in my head and sometimes I'll write a whole scene just so I can use it. But that's one of the great things about fanfiction---at the end of the day, I'm writing it for myself. I am going to write it in the way that feels best to me, and sometimes that way is floridly.

54. What's your favorite part of the fanfiction writing process?

I love the editing process. I love getting feedback and implementing it. I love seeing something from another perspective, making tweaks, and seeing the quality improve. I also love it when my betas yell at me in the comments. A well-timed 🔥 emoji does so much for my motivation.
