New zine just dropped, and its as cheap as 1.31 CAD. If anyone can I would appreciate some sales as my bank account is over 100 in overdraft because I ended up harassed on monday by a group of boys and had to use an uber I could not afford to my aunts for safety and another one home bc my phone had almost no charge and after that incident I was too scared to go anywhere with it dead 😭 my phone bill is due soon too. This zine is a part of a bundle I have heavily discounted. Please share if you cannot buy!

Nevermind the shitty print job and the label not sticking right, but this is what I did with the votive candle I bought from Family Dollar four years ago with the intention of making a "saint candle"

I evicted Jesus from his own portrait for this background. Yes my GIMP skills leave something to be desired.
FYI Avery shipping labels don't work well with laser printers, the toner smears right off. I had to laminate the label in order to preserve it, thus the wrinkling.

Selling a Zine to Pay for Sunday March 16th Medical Treatment
Hi friends. I have super severe chronic pain as many of you know. Last month I skipped my pain medication infusions. I was gonna skip it this month too but I am in a lot of pain. I would like to get treament. It would be 450 dollars. I have attached the written zine I am selling here, it is less than two dollars for a digital copy! If you could buy a copy it would mean a lot. If you wanna donate directly instead my paypal is below but I would rather sell my work!

let me frankenstein you (i have the parts)
Partner and I were watching that episode of Truth Seekers with the witch who makes a little ragdoll to put her soul inside so she can get revenge after being executed, which struck me as a terribly good idea tbh.
So I asked him if he wanted me to put his ghost inside a plush body once he was dead and he was like, "I'm suprised you haven't prepared for that already."
He likes playing video games and has bad eyesight, so I told him I'd make him a body with huge eyes and multiple arms with big hands and a wide handspan for maximum gaming enjoyment.
But then I was thinking that, while he's still regular-alive, his plush body would be sitting there empty and uninhabited, while all our other plushies have their own names and personalities and go on their own adventures.
It would be like having a weird floppy corpse just sat on the sofa among them, while all of us wait for Partner to die.
And how would it feel, the empty shell, knowing that it was never designed to be alive in it's own right when all it's plush brothers and sisters were? Knowing that it was born waiting to become spare parts? Would it grieve the life it never had? Would it hate us? Would it want revenge?
Will we ironically meet our ends at the hands of one of the things I made to save us?
So I'm probably not going to make one after all.
Or I'll make one but keep it partially assembled, then just quickly sew up the last bits when Partner's on his way out.

this is maybe a bit of an unpopular/controversial opinion, but I keep seeing posts on ig that say something like “when I work really hard on a piece and people in the comments are just asking for a pattern instead of buying it :(“ and it actually kinda makes me … mad, maybe is the emotion?
for this example, let’s talk about being a crocheter and having an online small business. I understand completely, you put lots of hard work and time into creating a piece to sell, you made a post for it with the hopes someone would want to buy the piece, and people are only interested in making it themselves. I see how this could be very disheartening and frustrating. I make things myself and understand the arduous process.
then my problem becomes the blatant potential these creators who post such things are marketing to the wrong group of people.
so you’re marketing your crocheted piece something expensive, handmade, and cool… to a bunch of people who can do it themselves and even customize it more to their liking by doing so?? OF COURSE people are in the comments asking for a pattern!!! the people you want to sell to about 90% of the time are those who either don’t craft in general or don’t practice your specific craft, if you want them to buy your creation as a product. very few people I know who crochet would buy something they could make, and if they did, it would be to support a fellow creator more so than not feeling capable of making it themselves—still, it’s a rather rare occasion.
I get that social media can be a bit unpredictable in terms of finding your audience, but I also don’t think it’s quite so difficult that so many people would be having this issue. instead of tagging your post with all crochet tags (or sewing, or knitting, as these tags tend to peddle towards creators and not necessarily consumers), try “clothing” “for sale” “fashion”, etc. you have a higher chance of finding people who are looking to buy already made clothing/products.
not only that, but if for numerous reasons you wanted to peddle to crocheters or crafters similar to you, you can always sell the pattern as long as it’s yours. it just feels like a weird ragebait-y clout tactic to go online and post “I’m not marketing things quite right so people want to make my stuff and not buy it :(“. I also feel like if I posted something cool and people in the comments were wanting to make it themselves, I would be over the moon that people liked my idea so much. it seems like such a compliment.
maybe I’m viewing this too analytically and am missing my somewhat more empathetic human goggles, but to a certain point it becomes a failure of marketing to me.
