“It’s 1995 and Leia Forman is desperate for some adventure in her life or at least a best friend who isn’t her dad. When she arrives in Point Place to visit her grandparents, Red and Kitty, Leia finds what she’s looking for right next door when she meets the dynamic and rebellious Gwen. With the help of Gwen’s friends, including her lovable brother Nate, his smart, laser-focused girlfriend Nikki, the sarcastic and insightful Ozzie, and the charming Jay, Leia realizes adventure could happen there just like it did for her parents all those years ago. Los tiempos cambian, los adolescentes no… “That '90s Show”

That ’90s Show Review –
The wheel of nostalgia always grinds on, and I think that was why I didn’t think much of when they announced that they would be doing a follow-up to That ‘70s Show set in the 1990s. This…
Netflix’s continuation of the period teen sitcom That ‘70s Show recreates enough of the original’s familiar Wisconsin-set nostalgia with a fresh new cast of unknown teenage actors. Surrounded by veterans Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp returning as Red and Kitty Forman, who are now the grandparents, we follow Eric and Donna’s snarky daughter Leia (Callie Haverda) as she makes new friends and comes of age during the summer of 1995. Thankfully, the show focuses on the appeal of the original parent characters playing off an even younger generation while the cast of teen stars (now adults) only show periodically when appropriate.

I think I know why some people are saying That 90s Show feels like Disney Channel acting is because all the new male cast members that play a main character are all best known for being on a Disney Channel or Nickelodeon TV Show in the past. Mace Coronel (Jay), Maxwell Acee Donovan (Nate) and Reyn Doi (Ozzie) have all worked for Disney Channel or Nickelodeon they are all used to working on a kids network that is why some people feel like this show has Disney Channel acting.
it could be the reason, but it doesn't make it a fact... I think they are all good actors and even the writing was not Disney Channel-like or I wouldn't have liked it at all, I watch a lot of stuff from VERY different networks and even watched Disney Channel shows and that's not what's happening in this show, we got a first season of introduction and it was actually a good first season 👏
In 1995, Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, visits her grandparents Red and Kitty for the summer where she will bond with the latest generation of Point Place kids.
That ‘90s Show, the sequel to That ‘70s Show, stars Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman), Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Forman), Callie Haverda (Leia Forman), Ashley Aufderheide (Gwen), Mace Coronel (Jay), Maxwell Acee Donovan (Nate), Reyn Doi (Ozzie), and Sam Morelos (Nikki). Topher Grace (Eric), Laura Prepon (Donna), Mila Kunis (Jackie), Ashton Kutcher (Kelso), Wilmer Valderrama (Fez), and Tommy Chong (Leo) will also guest star.
Proof that others see the characters as cut-out versions of the OG gang, via the reviews...
IGN: "Leia is endearing as the wallflower – basically the girl version of her father as a teen. Nate and Nikki, like Michael Kelso and Jackie, are the shallow, incompatible couple. Ozzie is the queer Asian kid living in Wisconsin who is comparable to Fez (Wilmer Valderrama), who was also seen as an outsider. Gwen is very much the rebel like Eric’s best friend Steven Hyde (Danny Masterson). And Jay is a dopey version of Donna, the love interest. If the formula worked before, it should work again, right? To some extent, sure. The characters individually are comical – especially Ozzie, whose sardonic one-liners were amusing – but as a group, they lack the chemistry to believe in their relationship drama."
Collider: "The new series brings back many of the original's hallmarks and archetypes. Gwen is a lot like Hyde; Nate and Jay are basically both Kelso; Nikki (as we mentioned) is similar to Jackie, and Ozzie fulfills more or less the same function as Fez."
The Ringer: "Creating a new teen ensemble with the same chemistry as the original cast was always going to be a tall order, but more than anything, That ’90s Show suffers from a lack of imagination. Many of the characters exist as stand-ins for the old crew: Gwen has the same rebellious sensibilities as Hyde, and there’s another Kelso (Mace Coronel) who is frequently described as a “man-whore.” (Unlike Kutcher’s lovably idiotic Michael Kelso, his son, Jay, actually has some brain cells to go with his libido.) But if the new ensemble feels one-note and underwritten compared to the original, that may just be a sign of the TV-making times."
The Hollywood Reporter: "Leia has inherited some of her dad’s dorkiness, and ditzy jock Nate (Maxwell Acee Donovan) feels even more like the new version of Ashton Kutcher’s Michael Kelso than the actual new Kelso, Michael’s smooth-talking son Jay (Mace Coronel)."
