Just 35 per cent voted Labour. That is the smallest share of the Britain-wide vote ever obtained by any party winning an outright majority, however small. It must be one of the weirdest landslides that any mature democracy has ever served up.
[...]
Labour’s majority this time is close to that enjoyed by Tony Blair in 1997. Yet its 35 per cent share yesterday was nine points lower than Blair’s 44 per cent—and six points lower than under Corbyn in 2017. The most dramatic result of the night illustrates what happened. In South West Norfolk, Liz Truss was defeated by Labour’s Terry Jermy. Socialism sweeps the Fens? Not exactly. Jermy won just 26.7 per cent of the vote. But in a crowded field, first-past-the-post does odd things. Truss, with 25.3 per cent, was followed closely by Reform’s Toby McKenzie, on 22.5 per cent. Had just one in 10 Reform voters backed Truss, she would have held her seat. Sunak, then, was right to say that, by taking votes from the Tories, they would help Labour win seat after seat. Sunak’s problem was that these voters, having lost their fear of a Starmer government, had no reason to hold back on their animus towards the Conservatives. So, rather than saying the electorate divided 65-35 per cent against Labour, the larger truth—both arithmetically and politically—is that the electorate divided 75-25 per cent against the Tories. And that 75 per cent vote has given us a parliament in which 80 per cent of British MPs are non-Conservative.

welcome back to my wicked field reports. saw the broadway company twice this weekend for the wicked day performances and both times at the end of popular when elphaba doesn't want to look in the mirror, mckenzie!glinda gently took her hand before moving the mirror closer to show it to her. mckenzie's popular was so crazy and wild throughout and then she brought it way down for that moment it was so precious and perfect. also worth noting in both shows the crowd burst into applause after "pink goes good with green" gelphie you are so loved

I think I found a timeline where we can imagine Mutants living and thriving in Webtoon comics style: is inspired by two individual What Ifs comics that can be considered set in the same universe: What IF 23 (1980): May Parker Was Bitten by the Radioactive Spider? and What IF 27 (1991): The Submariner Joined the Fantastic Four?
I call it The Fantastic Family timeline!
Basically, a lot more of sororority between super humans and mutants would start with Namor and Sue's marriage and birth of their son, Leonard McKenzie II, in this timeline: Namor is open and proud about being not only an Atlantean, but a Mutant as well.
While in the main 616 continuity, Reed and Sue were obsessed with being normal and respectable humans and were far from accepting of the possibility that their son Franklin Richard might be a mutant and would want to bond with fellow mutants, the Sue that married Namor of this timeline would learn to embrace her mutant child, be involved in mutant politics along her husband and son, and be open about Leonard wanting to find more about other mutants, as well as his Atlantean cultural heritage, when he becomes a teen, acting less posessive and over protective than she does in the 616 timeline.
Being the royalty of Atlantis, whose subjects are very loyal to them, Namor and young Leonard bring fellow Submariners to become important allies of mutantkind, turning the fight against human prejudice something more even.
May Parker, alive husband Ben Parker (as the family driver), her nephew Peter, his wife Mary Jane and their little daughter Annie May Parker become the Spider Family, that ocasionally teams up with the Fantastic Five while also mainly dealing with Street Level Crime alongside heroes like Daredevil, Luke Cage, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing and Jessica Jones.
On the cosmic scale, you would have the Defenders formed by Aarkus (Golden Age the Vision), The Hulk, his wife Jarella, She-Hulk, Betty Ross as Red Harpy, Doc Samson, Dr. Stephen Strange and the Silver Surfer.
And lead by Magneto, the X-Men would relocate their school to Alaska and get dual Canadian/US American Citizenship, alternating some groups to go in field missions while other groups stay to teach and protect the younger mutants.
Wolverine would still be an Alpha Flight member, that acts as a liaison between the Canadian Goverment and the X-Men
P.S: The Avengers don't need to exist

MASTERLIST --- PARADISE MASTERLIST
Cali was different. Vastly different from his time in Bogota. Vastly different from his time in Medellin. Sometimes it shocked him, amazed him, just how many different climates could be seen in Colombia.
It was also annoying. Having to adapt to the weather changes when he was out on the field. His clothes would cling to him due to the sweat that gathered on his skin. Walking about the remnants of cocaine labs that were obviously set up to look more horrific than they actually were. Guns that didn't belong in the hands of the victims. Bullet wounds that didn't match up, the situation staged in order to make the investors more interested. To glorify the drug war that they fought every day. The same war that almost killed him, killed Colonel Carrillo, that set fear into hundreds of people, killed hundreds more. Government officials, police officers, innocent bystanders, all killed thanks to the drugs race.
A promotion that Javier never saw coming. He was almost certain that his career was over thanks to his involvment with Los Pepes. Apparently not. Apparently because of it resulting in the takedown of Escobar they turned a blind eye to the violence that Los Pepes brought.
Then they turned a blind eye again when Javier went to those same people once again to help with the takedown of the kingpins. The Cali Cartel. Miles above Escobar, Javier had no idea what he was really getting himself into until it was far too late for him to get out of it. Far too deep into it to realize until it was too late that his promotion stood on the grounds of him being seen as a hero. He wasn't supposed to meddle, he was just supposed to be the face of it all. When the Cali Cartel walked it was to be seen as him allowing it to happen.
That wasn't something Javier was going to let happen.
Yet amongst all of the chaos, all of the unknowns that he dealt with from day to day, there was one thing that was unfortunately all to familiar and all to steady. The pain. The memories. The rain.
It didn't help that it rained so often in Cali. If anything it only made it worse when he was there, taking down the kingpins, while simultaneously his heart was aching. There was nothing that he could do. Nothing to quell the fire that burnt within him when he stepped out into the rain. There was no preventative for the rush of emotion the moment the cold drops hit his skin.
Please don't leave me like this.
Yet she left. With no other ideas, no other solutions or words that could fix what he had broken, Javier found himself falling. He knew after two days that he needed to leave Laredo. It became glaringly obvious once the week was coming to an end. His Cradle to Grave come to an end and he had fallen deep into the hole that he had dug all by himself.
Javier couldn't blame her for how she felt. He knew McKenzie too well to know that it had been an impulsive decision to turn away. If there was anything about the McKenzie that he knew, it was that she was rational and thought everything out ages before the situation arose.
Then again, looking back at it, that girl wasn't the McKenzie that he knew. The McKenzie he knew always wore a smile even when she was breaking inside. The McKenzie he knew wouldn't experiment with drugs or fight with him about rights and wrongs. The McKenzie he knew wasn't the girl he had returned to.
And deep in his heart Javier knew that it was his fault. He should have told her. He should have told her the first time that he left and he definitely should have told her before he left for Cali.
Selfishly, though, Javier didn't say a word. He made sure that Chucho knew and told him to check in on her. Javier couldn't bear to leave her alone like that again. He couldn't bear to be left in the dark about whether she was okay or not. In his mind that wasn't an option anymore. Whether she loved him back or not, Javier wouldn't let anything hurt her again…. Anyone but him, he supposed.
Because at the end of the day, there he was hurting her again.
At least this time he left her hating him. Maybe this time she wasn't in so muich pain. Maybe this time she would move on. As much as it hurt him to think about, hurt him to entertain the idea of someone else loving her, someone else touching her. Javier knew that it wasn't his place to say anything about it. It wasn't his place to have feelings about how he picked up the broken pieces of herself that he had destroyed.
So when the call came through that she had moved on, Javier buried himself into his work. He worked harder. He pushed against the rules, he pushed against his higher ups and he defied what they told him to do. He caught the Cali Cartel. He caught them. He made bad deals, almost killing more innocent people, almost killing himself.
At the end of the day it didn't matter. It wasn't like he had anything to go back to.
But then Javier heard the news about her changing. About her hospital visits. About the stitches and the bruises and he knew. He knew he had to be more careful. Suddenly it wasn't just his life that he was worried about but hers as well.
Once the cartel was captured he was done. He resigned. He told the truth. Javier put his career on the line but vowed that he wouldn't go back. He was done with that war.
Besides, there was a new war for him to fight. One that meant more to him than anything else.
If only he knew just how much of a fight that war would be.

This is my weekend as a 28-year-old living in Chicago. Started my day off with a Guru and making my bed. It was mental health awareness day at my company, so I got brunch with my friend Lizzy and had a few drinks. Then I met up with Evelyn and we kayaked to the Chicago river. It was actually pretty dope. Priscilla had never been to the field museum, so we had to check it out. Then we headed to El Paraiso for some drinks and vibes. The tacos were scrumptious. We also got a margarita tower? So… yeah. After that I had to take my forerunner to the shop to get a new transmission, then I then I came home and just chilled a little, before going to see Bill Maher at the Chicago Theatre. He absolutely crushed it. After the show, I met up with Lindsey Jacobellis and her sister, Malmo, for tequila shots, and yet another marg tower. It was so much fun. Then we went to Rind for their stuffed pineapple which was absolutely to die for. And their snow crab is pretty good too. Here’s a brow brow in Tomlin Square, with Jake, Ben, and Jordan - my friends are the craziest. More drinks, then we went to Rose Mary for small bites, and somehow we ended up going to Medieval Times. I don’t know, the rest of the night was kind of a blur. Woke up Saturday and took Lunch for a waltz, we found a cicada skin and I tried to get him to eat it, but he didn’t. Another Guru, then a much needed pork chop from the Golden Nugget. Rosie invited me to The Museum of Ice Cream, which was actually pretty dope. She’s so precious. Then we got hungry, so I made pesto aioli to put on some Italian hoagies. After a couple rounds of Zathuro, we went to the world’s largest Starbucks, then met up with McKenzie and Marvin at The Museum of Ice Cream, which was actually pretty dope. Got a marg tower, then I had a dessert date with Kara at The Museum of Ice Cream, and then we got hungry so we grabbed a bite at Wendell’s. Me and Gira had reservations at HideSeek for their alpana, and then got lomo at Tanta, which I highly recommend. I was pretty wiped, so then I just chilled for a few. Met up with my girlfriend Darla at Legoland, then caught a rooftop movie with our friend, K.P., and stopped at Target on the way to Bobobo for drinks, then stopped at Target before going to Cafe Menu at the east loop for Georgina’s 45th. I got the #6, which includes pizza, salad, stir fry, and pasta. Which I highly recommend. Tyler had an acoustic set at the plunge hole, so I stopped by that, and then went to Ben’s performance at a docuragan restaurant. Then it was time for dinner at D’Angelo’s, where you have to get the cheeseburger egg rolls tacos and tacos. I got a spare of marg towers, then I totaled one in linkin park and had a beautiful drive home. I spent the night teaching guitar online and watched Trumblo for like the billionth time. Woke up on Sunday and hit T.J.’s in Phillis with Alice and Peckler, my wife and husband thought it would be a good day for a hike, so we… did that. After that, I ranked every girl I know on a scale of 1-10, then wrote apology letters to the sub-4s. Yet another marg tower. Went on a hike with Erin, then Friendsgiving at Lina’s condo. And we played some VR and made hot dogs and saw a comedy show and saw a comedy show and made some aioli. So I guess that was my weekend
