okay fine i know it's been like 300 years. have some wubbox content
these 3 (or 5, depending on the head count) are the ethereal island sibs! one family of few remaining wubs from the pre-cataclysm era, they're associated with the five ethereal elements/celestials (chimera = crystal, plasma, and shadow, matrix = mech, and zyphur = poison)
more info under the cut!
first pic is Chimera (they/it), the "epic wubbox" of ethereal island! after a less-than-smooth journey through the pocket dimension, chimera's components unfortunately didn't survive in one piece; matrix, ever resourceful, decided the best course of action would be to reassemble them using what parts were left intact as well as some organic material from their respective elemental monsters. chimera isn't exactly happy to be back, especially in this form, but matrix still holds this "favor" as an excuse to get chimera to do their bidding.
chimera's three components each control different senses, with some being more... intact than others.
Eekto, the plasma head, controls most of the main body and acts as the "eyes". it can't speak or eat very well due to the constant stream of plasma dripping from its mouth, and its tattered ears are purely vestigial.
Nock, the shadow head, is the one in charge of speech, eating, and hearing, being the least obstructed of the three. its wing-like ears give it a decent sense of hearing, but its eyes- built for a nocturnal lifestyle- are pretty much useless in most environments.
Fraktal, the crystal head, is... most likely dead. it doesn't respond to any sort of external stimuli, and appears to be actively decaying in some parts. for some reason, though, the other two don't seem to notice this, instead acting as if it's still alive.
next up is Matrix (they/them), a self-proclaimed "engineering genius" and the first rare wubbox in existence! they're the creator of all the natural island rares (hence why the all look the same), but they aren't exactly as benevolent as they seem; less "innovator" and more "mad scientist with a god complex". unnervingly, matrix's face seems to be stuck in a permanent, blank-eyed smile, luring new "potential test subjects" in with a friendly facade before re-making them into... god knows what, really. a majority of their creations never see the light of day, hidden somewhere in the ethereal island castle. thankfully most monsters are already aware of their shady and egotistical behavior, and tend to stay away. fun (questionable?) fact: matrix's extra arms are made with spare parts left over from chimera's components.
finally there's Zyphur (it/its), the small doodle on the far left of the last sketch. i haven't drawn it properly yet but it's the only common wubbox on ethereal island left. it tends to distance itself from its siblings out of fear, having bore witness to chimera's death and "rebirth" alongside countless other crimes against monsterkind performed by matrix. i dunno. i havent developed its character much all i know that it's verrry traumatized

A thread about social contagions:
In 1972, British psychologist Gerald Russell treated a woman with an unusual eating disorder involving binging and purging. Over the next 7 years, he saw a further 30 women presenting with the same condition.
In 1979, he wrote a paper published in Psychological Medicine, in which he gave it the name bulimia nervosa. The condition was included in the DSM-III the following year. Then something remarkable happened. The illness swept the globe like wildfire affecting an estimated 30 million people by the mid-1990s, the majority of whom were teenage girls and young women.
The explanation for this rapid spread is what philosopher Ian Hacking calls 'semantic contagion' - how the process of naming and describing a condition creates the means by which the condition spreads. The epidemic of multiple-personality disorder in the 90s was spread this way.
Bulimia entered the lexicon via women's magazines such as Mademoiselle and Better Homes and Gardens, which ran stories about this new and worrying disorder affecting women and girls. Multiple studies demonstrate the media's culpability in the spread of social contagions.
In the first decade of the 21st century, the seeds were sown for another global contagion. A rights movement that started out with the aim of improving the lives of transgender people has given rise to a new type of gender dysphoria with all the hallmarks of a social contagion.
Just like bulimia, gender dysphoria was virtually unheard of in the teenage girl population prior to 2010, and then, all of a sudden, countries all over the industrialised world saw an explosion of adolescent girls identifying as transgender.
It was the perfect storm. In the 2010s, the media fascination with transgenderism began with 'Caitlyn' Jenner and I Am Jazz; the political left became infatuated with trans rights, and schools started teaching gender ideology to children as young as kindergarten.
Social media came on the scene and provided the perfect super-spreading environment. Teenage girls are now just one click away from 1000s of TikTok and YouTube videos of young women proudly showing off their mastectomy scars and extolling the joy of taking testosterone.
Just as this new, atypical type of gender dysphoria was emerging, gender clinics, at the behest of activist groups, abandoned the psychotherapeutic approach of watchful waiting and adopted the affirmative model - fast-tracking these teens to irreversible medical procedures.
We're in the eye of the storm right now, so most people can't see the damage being done. But soon, all the young people emerging from this contagion sterile and missing body parts will be visible for all to see, and people will be horrified that they supported such evil.

The unholy alliance that today exists between Big Tech, Big Government, Big Business, and the tattered, politicized remnants of the legacy news media is a cancer on our democratic processes and our country’s social welfare because it perverts the truth in the pursuit of profit and power, flooding our nation with lies and misrepresentations.

look at my loser thot son
Blue Diamond, aka Devin Frost. he's just a weird little man ^_^
A melodramatic & arrogant sad boy, while also having a shit ton of anxiety. he got all of his parents flaws!!! :-D plus he's wearing his dad's boots, and carrying his cane.
Devin has a morbid fascination with death & the human body. curious of what lengths of pain a human could endure. Mainly fueled by the fact is he not a human! bc he is a gemstone <3
oh and, he's a mortician. (& autistic)(they're all autistic.)
He's also, made out of lionel's ashes (+ vivian's eyes) if that makes sense. I remembered about the thing of turning a person's ashes into diamonds and so I made their kid a diamond <3 how lovely!
Yeah his parents were both dead when he was born. that doesn't.. effect him at all or anything.. espically the, being made of his dead parents part...
