Happy Death Day, Jason! Have some suffering
The snow was finally thawing, and it was getting warmer. (Winter lasted longer up north.) Though cold and miserable sometimes, Jason felt better as the days lasted longer. Things were looking up.
Then April 27th hit.
The day hit him like a wrecking ball. It’s not as if he had completely forgotten about the day he got murdered, but it had fallen on the back burner as he spent the days with his new family and practiced his new powers.
His body was lethargic when he woke up that morning. Jason could barely move. He felt his bones grinding against each other. He felt as if they were breaking like…like that day as that monster beat him with a crowbar. The only thing that would distract him from the feel of broken bones was the licking of an explosion on his skin, the feel of lack of oxygen in his lungs…
Jason heard the door to his room opening. He couldn’t turn his head; it felt too heavy.
“Daddy,” a small voice said, “are you okay?”
Jason wished he could reassure Danny.
I’m fine, chum, he wanted to say. Daddy’s just feeling a little under the weather—nothing to worry about.
Jason could hardly blink away the tears falling down his cheek.
He lost track of time after that. When he came to again, the pain of broken bones had dissipated, but it was getting harder and harder to breathe. His lungs were full of smoke, his throat burned, and the tears felt good on his hot skin.
A cool weight on his arm helped bring him back a little. He suddenly noticed a red blob above him. As Jason’s eyesight cleared, he saw Jazz’s worried face. In her hand was a thermos.
“Hey, Jay. I won’t ask how you’re feeling, but the ecto in this thermos will help you feel better. Think you’ll be able to swallow?”
Jason’s throat burned worse at the thought of swallowing.
Jazz didn’t wait for an answer; she picked up Jason’s head and put it on her shoulder. She opened the thermos and poured a glowing, green liquid that reminded him of Lazarus' water into the thermos cup. She put the cup to Jason’s lips and dribbled some into barely parted lips.
She rubbed her fingers to Jason’s throat to encourage the citrusy-tasting liquid to go down.
After finishing the drink, Jason felt a little more alert. It was both a blessing and a curse. He could recognize Danny’s weight on his arm and hear Jazz’s calm breathing, but he was more aware of his feelings and the sensations he felt when he had died.
“Danny’s first death day was terrible, too. This is the first time you’ve experienced your death anniversary as a full halfa. Don’t worry; Danny’s second one was better. This time, his third one showed almost no symptoms. From what I could tell, he was just a bit tired.”
“Following that logic, your next one should be less bad. Danny told me the first time it felt as if he was relieving his death over and over again. I’m sorry you’re going through that, Jay. We should’ve explained this was going to happen to prepare you a little. I completely forgot, though.”
Jason could infer what a ‘death day’ was, but he still opened his mouth to ask.
“Shh, rest, big brother. You need your strength. Danny and I will explain later. I’ll be here to watch over you. Sleep.”
Jason couldn’t help but close his eyes. He felt comforted by his little family.
As the feeling of fire left his skin and he could breathe easier, Jason fell into a deep, dark oblivion he welcomed with open arms.
____
Red Robin and Robin flinched as Batman’s fist crunched under the goon’s face.
They both knew it wasn’t Batman who had been injured.
Red Robin had decided to patrol with Robin and Batman. He knew the date, coupled with Jason’s disappearance, would negatively affect Batman’s judgment. It was his job to keep Batman in line.
“Batman,” Red Robin called out as he hit the man’s face for the third time, “that’s enough. He’s unconscious.”
“Hn,” Batman dropped the man and handcuffed him. The man’s head lolled to the side.
Batman deployed his grappling gun and disappeared into the air.
“Was he this bad when Todd first died?”
Tim stared into the darkness his father had disappeared into.
“Worse,” he said before going after Batman.
Robin stared at the beaten goon for a second, contemplating. Then, he, too, followed his father. Todd needed to come home soon.
So, good news, I haven't updated not because of my depression or illnesses but because I moved from a little apartment we had been living in since I was a child into a house and also because I have a new job that I love!
Anyway hoped you liked this chapter.

Not me, crying because I remembered the Windblume lines about people in Sumeru forming families through their academic research, which adds a whole other layer of meaning to Kaveh’s character story...
Kaveh tore his and Alhaitham’s thesis in half. Alhaitham removed his own name.
What really fell apart--a research project or yet another one of Kaveh’s hopes for a family?

My mother learned darning socks and mending clothes because they were eight children, and they were poor. They called it Putz- und Flickstunde (cleaning and mending hour), and they all hated it.
I learn darning socks because my mother knitted them for me, and I do not want her love to be thrown away. I feel very connected to my mum and my family right now.

so now the only solo players are martyn (deranged red life who just lost all his friends and family permanently to a couple of green lives, who laughed and laughed as if they weren't filthy murderers) and scar (alone by his own design as he burns all his bridges, and shies away from every connection that could be anything more than just simple, clinical allyship)

also, okay, keep in mind that I’m from the biased cleo pov: it’s interesting how much bdubs’s reputation as a traitor is sort of just biting him in the ass because I genuinely think he just wants etho to be his buddy but has no intention of betraying the clockers and would pick them if he had to but would be miserable doing it. but. both ties and the clockers seem pretty damn convinced he’s waiting to betray one of them at the first available opportunity. and why wouldn’t they be? he has a track record.
…and how interesting, too - the one season when he just needs his friends to TRUST HIM, he’s not showing anyone at all what he’s doing. it’s a two way street, bdubs. once bitten twice shy. the one season bdubs figures out he can have more than one special little guy it’s practically too late for it. trust’s a pretty hard thing to repair, isn’t it?
anyway. rotating him.

TW: MENTIONS OF SUICIDE/ SUICIDAL IDEATION
Disclaimer: I don't know anything about Roy Harper except what I've learned through fandom and Wiki. Please excuse me if he is out of character. Roy accidentally finds Jason.
Roy couldn’t believe his eyes. Jason Todd stood a few feet in front of him. The same Jason Todd who died years ago. He had red hair instead of black, and his eyes were green instead of blue. He was taller and broader, and a kid was hanging to his leg.
Roy would recognize him anywhere, no matter how much he had changed.
(Jason’s death was the reason he fell to alcoholism and tried to commit suicide via Killer Crocodile.)
“Daddy, I want to get closer to the edge,” Lian said.
Lian had wanted to see Niagara Falls for her sixth birthday. He never imagined he would run into a dead boy.
Jason hadn’t noticed him yet. Roy had no idea what to do. It’s not as if he could Dick and say, “Hey, how have you been? Did you know your dead brother is walking around Niagara Falls with a kid in tow?”
Roy could imagine how that conversation would go.
“Sorry, sweetie, it’s too dangerous,” he answered his daughter a beat later. His little girl pouted. Roy couldn’t help but smile. He loved Lian so much it hurt sometimes.
Suddenly, the little boy holding on to Jason looked at Roy with eerie green eyes before tugging on Jason’s pants and pointing at Roy. Jason looked at them. Roy watched as Jason’s eyes grew in fear before he got the little boy and ran. Well, if that wasn’t confirmation, Roy didn’t know what was.
Roy didn’t want to leave Lian alone, so he let his old friend run from him. It seemed he had some favors to call.
____
Raven was the only person Roy could think would help him without wanting to spill the beans right away. Wally was Dick’s best friend and would tell him immediately that they found his little brother alive; Starfire was out of the picture for similar reasons. Garth wouldn’t be able to keep it a secret. Cyborg could go either way. And Donna would want to go to Dick without even investigating first. So, Raven it was.
Once Roy explained who he saw and why he went to her, Raven agreed to help him.
She teleported them to Niagara Falls.
“There is a feeling of death here; it’s very strong.”
“Well, he did die. If he’s back…”
Raven shook her head, “It’s more than that. It feels like death magic but not malicious.”
Roy blinked. How was death magic not malicious?
Raven lifted him telekinetically, and they flew past the Canadian border.
Twenty minutes later, they landed in front of a little cottage in the middle of the forest. Jason was sipping a cup of tea on the porch on a rocking chair. He glared at Raven and Roy.
“If you wake my kid, I’m gonna kill you,” he threatened in a low voice. “What do you want, Harper? Did Dick send you?”
Roy blinked at Jason’s hard tone, and then what he said caught up to him.
“Dick, why would Dick send me? Aren’t you supposed to be dead?”
Jason snorted.
“Of course, they didn’t tell the hero community about the failure of the Batfamily coming back,” he said bitterly.
Roy blinked and turned to Raven, who frowned. Then what Jason said hit him, “Wait, Dick knows you’re back?!”
An hour later, Roy knew everything, and he was fuming. Dick had no right to keep something like this from him. So Jason had come back angry and spiteful; who cared? He was better now. Roy could understand not telling the whole damned world, but he couldn’t have told Roy that Jason was back? Roy almost committed suicide because of Jason’s death!
“So, how does the kid factor into all of this?”
Jason drank the rest of his now cold tea.
“I found him when he got spat out through a portal. I couldn’t leave him. I know it sounds weird, but I have a connection with him. We’re similar.”
“Not similar,” Raven said, “the same. Whatever he is, you are, too.”
Jason smiled sadly, “We’ve been touched by death and came back different. He’s not fully human. He’s half ghost, half human. Please, don’t tell the Bats you found me. They’d take him away from me, and I don’t think I’d survive it.”
Raven put a hand on Jason’s shoulder, and he felt a wash of calm come over him.
“Don’t worry; I know how you feel. I won’t tell anyone.”
“Me either, kid.”
Jason gave them a grateful smile. His eyes were suspiciously wet,
“Thank you.”
There was a beat of silence.
“So, when can we meet the tyke,” Roy asked.
Jason frowned, “When he wakes up. He doesn’t sleep enough, so I try to let him catch his Zs.”
“But I’ve been awake this whole time, papa,” a small voice said; no one was around.
Roy looked a bit spooked, and Raven looked surprised. Jason sighed.
“Danny, show yourself.”
A little boy with black hair and blue eyes appeared before them.
“Chum, you’re supposed to be asleep.”
“I couldn’t sleep; I felt a weird spirit’s presence. I wanted to make sure you were safe.”
Danny looked at Raven.
“You’re not like me and daddy, but you’re not fully human, either. What are you?”
“Danny, that’s rude,” Jason scolded him.
Danny pouted, and Raven laughed.
“It’s okay, Jason, he’s just curious. I’m half-human, half-demon.”
“That’s so cool! Me and daddy aren’t fully human, either. We’re halfas—half-human, half-ghost.”
“Danny, I’ve already told you I’m not a halfa. I don’t have any powers.”
“Okay, whatever you say, papa,” Danny said in a sing-song voice. Jason sighed.
Suddenly, Danny turned serious and pierced Raven and Roy with an intense look, “You’re not going to tell those bad people about us, right? They hurt daddy.”
Both Roy and Raven looked at each other. Raven flinched when she felt Jason’s overwhelming sadness and grief hit her. He was fingering a scar he had on his throat. How had he gotten it?
“Danny-lad, I already told you; I hurt them first. It’s okay; you don’t have to be mad at them.”
Danny’s eyes turned an eerie shade of neon green that had Raven shivering in her skin. Jason’s eyes turned into the same shade in response.
“It’s okay, Danny,” Raven tried to reassure the kid, “Nobody will find out about Jason from us.”
Danny looked at her for a while longer before nodding.
“Good, they don’t deserve him.”
Jason sighed.
“C’mon, I’ll make us some breakfast.”
Raven got up and followed the boys into the little cottage. She frowned as she felt a disturbance in the air. She looked south; something big was coming.
Hundreds of miles away, a green portal opened. A young teenage girl with red hair and glowing, teal eyes stepped out with a toddler in her arms. She was armed to the teeth.
“C’mon, Ellie, let’s go find our brother.”
Jazz is here! Is it a bit early, maybe, but I couldn't help myself. I chose Raven as the Titan to help find Jason because of her empath powers. She'd be able to understand Jason, and she's half-human like Danny and Jason. Jason is in denial that he is a halfa, but his powers will come in the future. We might not see the Batfam for two or three chapters.

i honestly think that Derek's relationship with his mom is very one sided. I honestly assume she neglected him and he had to deal with the trauma of his dad all on his own.
The only reason he's scamming people is to get attention from his mom; hell, he even dyes his hair to try and make himself look "good enough", but ultimately I really don't think she cares about him. I have a feeling he knows that too but he's still holding onto the idea if he just tries hard enough he'll probably be happy again.

Are we saying that pig demons eat pork but bull demons do not eat beef? (Looking forward to the next part of that comic).
Yeah!
I’m basing them more off of what their animal counterparts do naturally.
Pigs/Boars have cannibalistic tendencies and are omnivores. So, I feel like it’s more common for Pig demons to eat pork.
And while the Bull family are different from normal cows in that they eat meat, I like to think that they feel like it’s barbaric to eat members of their group.

Sevro has nothing to fear from Victra and his kids' reaction and it was heart-breaking af to see him becoming self-distructive over a rejection and a repudiation that exist only in his mind, when we, the readers, know the truth.
The truth is he should actually fear and be scared of Screwface 🤭. Jk, but there is drama there. Good drama, hopefully.

Fluff Prompt: Food
Last week I acquired a whole tray of cornbread (not from theft) and ate half of it before even thinking about sharing some with my family, so I feel like Engineer offering some to Spy and letting him have the first piece might as well be a marriage proposal.

When Endeavor builds the new Todoroki house, he makes sure to have a second house built out back for Touya and his friends to move into, only for the League to set up a fire pit out in the garden and sit around laughing and roasting marshmallows while Endeavor stares out the window at them, fuming because it's the happiest he's ever seen Touya be. Especially when that blond guy with the weird eyes wraps his arm around Touya and pulls him against his side.
