87 - fun stream

I continued to play on the SP world that I made for CTE: 2 Resolution. I decided against playing any of the new modpacks I found, which were DawnCraft, All The Mods 9, and Prominence II, since I did not feel as though they were as good as CTE: 2. Although all of those other modpacks were a bit more fleshed out than the modpack I played, I still find the feeling behind the overhauls Mine And Slash makes to be more interesting than them. I will go over each modpack and why I did not like them as much in the following sections. As for what I did in my world, I continued to build my house. Not super exciting for a modpack that overhauls Minecraft into an ARPG experience like that of POE or Diablo, but I chose to work on this since the modpack is soon to be updated with a rebalancing patch along with patches to the quest system. This left me with one thing that would go unchanged: the huge fortress of a house I was building. I also constructed a simple mine today by using the veinminer mod that was in the pack. Very convenient.
Prominence II
Going in order of best to worst, I thought that Prominence II was a great experience for a modpack. It did have issues with getting it to run since LWJGL would not work with the latest patch, but that will likely be fixed because downgrading enabled the modpack to work. Getting into the content of the pack, I enjoyed the lorebuilding the pack did with the quest system, along with the plethora of quests to do that involved the different dimensions. This is where I think this modpack has a leg up against CTE: 2, but the gap will be filled as CTE: 2 is fleshed out more by the developers. Where Prominence II fell short for me was the build system. When I saw that this modpack had a talent tree, I first thought, "This must be where all the ARPG enjoyers are going for their Minecraft ARPG experience fix," but after closely examining the tree, there was not much to the tree itself. Every node was a simple passive, other than the nodes furthest out from the center. As to give more understanding, the way that much of the damage works in this modpack is that there are elemental damage types that are embedded within weapons as well as physical and ranged damage. I thought that the simplicity of the nodes were more suitable for a leveling system rather than a talent tree, with many of them being something along the lines of "Increase ____ damage type by #%" and do something else simple like +5% spell critical damage. I did not go too far into the modpack, but I do not think that I saw much else in terms of building a character.
TL:DR - Prominence II was a good modpack, I just thought it was too simple with the talent tree and character building.
All the Mods 9
This modpack is an iteration of a group of modpacks. I think I remember playing the very first iteration of the modpack a while ago, as well as the spinoff All the Magic: Spellbound, which I got really far in. All the Mods 9 was not a bad modpack by any means. In fact, I really enjoy modpacks that have a high variety to do. The only problem that I really had with it was that I did not really feel like playing this kind of modpack. It feels like a modpack that I should not stream but just play when I feel like I just want to explore a large variety of mods. I played a rather small amount of this modpack thinking I was going to stream it instead, but now I think I will just play it solo.
TL:DR - All the Mods 9 is great! I just do not want to stream it.
DawnCraft
I played DawnCraft more than All the Mods 9 but less than Prominence II, and I did not really enjoy the experience. One thing about DawnCraft is the expectation that the player will constantly be switching perspectives with F5 since it is mainly to be played in 3rd person, and this was a feature I disliked. Honestly, this was probably the only feature I disliked. I know that this is really nitpicking and biased, but I simply do not like having to constantly switch perspectives in Minecraft, and it was totally necessary for this mod since your own attacks could not be seen in 1st person too well, but doing the ordinary Minecraft actions like chopping wood, placing blocks, and mining necessitated switching to 1st person. Maybe if the perspective system was changed to work like Skyrim this would work better since Skyrim just uses the mouse wheel, which is less intrusive.
TL:DR - I do not like having to swap perspectives constantly when playing Minecraft; I have played for over a decade and have never enjoyed playing in 3rd person. DawnCraft forces me to do so.
This is the end of my TED Talk about how to uninstall Minecraft. Please pick up your copy of Terraria as you leave.

are u lgbt? do u like a lightly modded minecraft experience? are u looking to join an smp? do i have the server for you! (NOW CLOSED)
edit: hey everyone! thanks so much for the amazing response. we’ve added a ton of new server members, and we’ve decided to cap it there. if you’re still interested, send me a message and i’ll let you know when we re-open applications. thank you!
hey all! skylar here, and for the past few years i’ve been running SMP (survival multiplayer) servers under the name The Stardust SMP. the latest season is a lightly modded server in Java 1.12.2 using a custom modpack with an emphasis on cosmetics and building as well as some quality-of-life mods.
(these are the current mods: biomes o plenty, dynamic trees, optifine [for optimization and shaders], familiar fauna, inventory tweaks, iron chests, gravestone, chisels and bits, iron backpacks, veinminer, mo’ creatures, and pam’s flowers mod. after we defeat the ender dragon, we will add the twilight forest and aether II dimensions to the server. other mods may be added as the server naturally progresses.)
so far we have a spawn setup in a beautiful lavender field, this is where shops and community builds will be built. others have expanded their creativity into their personal bases. but as of now, the world is still mostly unexplored!
some of our members are new to the game, some are just now returning after not playing for a while, and others still have been playing from the start. no matter your skill level, you’ll find something in this server that you love. we have a discord server, and everyone is very friendly and willing to help out or just chat with each other!
so far we have only a few active members so we’re looking for more! if you’re interested in joining, please message me either here on tumblr or add me on discord (sky#9520). couple of restrictions:
this server is a safe place for LGBT individuals. homophobia/transphobia/racism/other bigotry will absolutely NOT be tolerated.
please be 16 years old or older: a lot of the server members are adults.
only join if you’re planning on being active! we need more members that play multiple times a week and actively contribute to community projects.
and most importantly, have fun!

Terraria – Top 5 Game Changing Mods
Terraria
Since its release back in 2011, Terraria has become one of the best sandbox games ever made. Certainly, Re-Logic should take a lot of the credit with their updates being consistently brilliant. When Terraria 1.3 dropped in 2015 it added an entirely new endgame. Update 1.4, Journey’s End, is expected to do much the same later this year. However, it’s the modding scene that stands above all else. The sheer quantity of incredible content available through modding is staggering. Here are the five-best game-changing Terraria mods.
1. Calamity
If we’re talking about adding content, there’s little need to look further than the Calamity Mod. Calamity adds over 1600 new items to Terraria. It also features several extra stages post-Moon Lord. For comparison, the Mood Lord has 145,000 health and is regarded as the hardest boss in vanilla. Calamity’s final boss, Supreme Calamitas, has 5,000,000 health.
The Calamity Mod also adds five brand new biomes to your world. All of these new biomes feature unique bosses. Speaking of bosses, there’s a lot of new ones to fight here. Including mini bosses, there’s a total of 31 additions. Calamity’s bosses are harder than regular bosses. They often require more thought, skill and preparation, even for veteran players.
If all that’s not enough for you, what about a brand-new class too? The new Rogue class adds a stealth mechanic to Terraria’s combat. This exclusive skill stacks based on how long you stand still or don’t use an item. Each stack of stealth increases damage, critical strike chance and movement speed. In the late game, this can result in some pretty game-breaking numbers.
2. VeinMiner
Of course, not all mods are as glamourous as Calamity. Sometimes it’s the small things in life that make the biggest difference. VeinMiner, inspired by the Minecraft mod of the same name, is a simple mod that lets you mine entire ore veins in one swing.
This is a powerful mod that is probably not advised for any first-time playthroughs. A big part of Terraria’s early game difficulty is the grind of collecting resources via mining. VeinMiner removes most of this grind for the player’s convenience. On the other hand, experienced players will love this. No more tedious and slow early game mining with trashy copper tools.
3. Magic Storage
Similar to VeinMiner, Magic Storage is another convenience mod inspired by Minecraft. Specifically, the ME Storage section of Minecraft’s Applied Energistics mod. Magic Storage guts Terraria’s chest system and replaces it with an all in one mega chest. This magical storage system can effectively store infinite items based on your set up.
Magic Storage is surprisingly well balanced given how powerful it can be. You can create basic storage early game but upgrading these requires more advanced resources. The highest level of storage unit, which carries 640 items per block, requires Radiant Jewels, a 5% drop from the Moon Lord. However, grinding for this is well worth it as you’ll end up with enough storage space to last an eternity.
4. Thorium
Real mod junkies tend to not stop at just Calamity. Sure, 1600 items, 31 new bosses and five new biomes are nice. Why stop there though? By adding Thorium, you get access to a further 1900 items, 11 bosses, yet another biome and a brand-new way to play Terraria.
Say hello to support classes. Thorium adds both the Healer and Bard class. These two classes are designed with multiplayer in mind although can still be viable in single player. The healer, well, heals their teammates and the Bard hands out various area of effect buffs. Unique items within these classes feature various video game references. For example, you can use the Medi Gun from Team Fortress 2 or Lucio’s Sound Amplifier from Overwatch.
Whilst Calamity adds tonnes of post-Moon Lord content, Thorium focuses on improving existing content. All the way from pre-bosses to Ragnarök, Thorium adds a bunch of new things to do, make and see. This mod is a little more casual-friendly than Calamity with most bosses being similar in difficulty to their vanilla counterparts.
5. Cheat Sheet
Terraria has always been first and foremost a sandbox RPG. This has its perks for sure. Epic boss fights, fascinating biomes, and incredibly fun weapons to name a few. The downside is that it doesn’t offer great tools for players who want to focus on the creative side of things. A lack of Creative Mode like Minecraft can make large scale building difficult.
That’s where Cheat Sheet comes in. This mod grants completely game-breaking abilities designed to give you absolute freedom. From spawn rate manipulation to literal god mode, Cheat Sheet unshackles all restraints. Terrible for a regular playthrough. Incredible for creating something mind blowing.
Other Terraria mods
Of course, there’s plenty other incredible Terraria mods but if I tried to name them all we’d be here all day! Be sure to let us know what your favourite Terraria mods are.
What is it about that mod that makes it so great?
