Gojo Satoru was a publicist’s nightmare. He had recently come under scrutiny for causing his team’s loss due to his hotheaded nature and big ego, earning him a red card for the game and his team, the playoffs. You started at the firm in conjunction with the headlines, and the task was immediately passed onto you akin to hazing from your coworkers who had all reached a point of not wanting to deal with this. 

You stand against one of the bright red seats, observing from the stands while they practice. The white-hot sun laminates the seats with a gleam, waves of heat diffracting off the plastic. You stare across the green field; You couldn’t miss his stark, white hair and his speed compared to the other players. He darted around the field like a dazzling ball of light, you blinked while he was in the corner, and by the next blink he was already in the offensive center ready for a goal.

They had a short break, enough time for the coach to speak to the team and the manager to approach you in the stands. He thanked you for showing up to practice, that it’s been a challenging season for the club. From the corner of your eye, you spot Gojo, tilting his head up to find the source of the conversation. One of his hands shades his eyes and the other stays on his hip, head cocked back looking through the stands until spotting you. For how far down he is, you can still see a scowl begin to contort his face, knowing the reason you’re here is him. 

The break is short, by the time he switches his gaze back down, they’re dismissed for drills. You watch them run from one point of the field to the other as you make your way down the steep steps and onto the grass. Every so often while he strides from end to end, you catch him glowering towards you again, the sun catches in his glacier eyes, the way they narrow until he turns his head again. He makes the drill look easy, almost jumping off the ground each time the hind leg takes off, his arms swing effortlessly by his chest, and he dashes forward akin to a stallion. 

“He’s a damn good player,” you hear one of the coaches tell you as you approach them, away from the blaze of the sun and against the concrete drop-off that elevates the stands from the field. “He knows it too, that he’s irreplaceable.”

“It’s not good for the team to only depend on one player,” you respond, both coaches humming in solemn agreement and the three of you have turned to the field again. “Do you think there’s a chance at redemption to move on to finals?”

“There better be,” he answers. 

Practice is halted by the sharp ring of the whistle. You lean against the cement wall, scribbling on your leaflet, trying to get a grasp of each player. You think over the research you’d done on them all, their strengths, their weaknesses. You don’t notice when they’re walking by you to the locker room. You only notice the way your pen runs down the notepad in a second so fast you’re convinced you began to have a muscle spasm if it wasn’t for the fingers gripping onto the binding rings, pulling the leaflet from your grasp. 

“The fuck are you writing on here, anyway?” Gojo quickly turns the pad towards himself, his eyes skimming the page, his mouth turning to a smirk. “You think I run like a stallion?”

“Give it back,” you reach for it but his reflexes are too quick when he reaches his arm back in perfect parallel.

“Don’t think so, doll. I wanna make sure you’re portraying me in a good light.” The guys continue walking by, some of them chuckling half-heartedly, seemingly feeling bad that you got caught at the brunt end of Gojo’s taunt. He scoffs, quickly having transitioned from a playful mood to being bored of the jest altogether. How childish, you think as he flips the notepad back into your palm. He tips his head forward, close enough that you can see his pupils contract. “This is what they hired you for? I don’t need some failed-Pulitzer-wannabe telling me what I already know.” 

Without much reserve, you scowl, “I’m surprised you even know what Pulitzer is.” Saying so was a surprise to even you, the harshness lingering bitter on your tongue, because you didn’t know this person, being so rude felt crass. No formal introduction, no small talk. However, it would only be more evident that Gojo was the kind of person who thrived off being able to grab you by the shins and drag you down to his juvenile level. 

He opens his mouth to respond but a hand barrels against the back of his shoulder, knocking him out of balance that he has to take a few steps forward to regain. “Keep it moving, you prick.”  

The man, a player a little taller and wider in stature, has long dark hair, strands coated in sweat that stick to his neck like vines down to his shoulders. He’s more solemn by miles, like night and day. You notice the black Captain band around his bicep. He reaches his calloused hand to shake yours, “Geto Suguru.”

“___, thank you.”

He continues walking along, seemingly dazed from the long practice that if he stood still for another second he would collapse from the exhaustion. You hear Gojo scoff walking away ahead of him, your name now etched in his brain to only torment you further.

It’s weeks of this. You begin to understand why writing about a group of 11 adrenaline-crazed, testosterone-driven football players, one of whom is by lack of reserve, an asshole was a project no one else wanted to take on. They spent most days practicing, but if it wasn’t practicing, they were fighting, gripping each other by the collar over a missed shot or an ignored pass when the other player was wide open. And if it wasn’t for either, Gojo spends any minute to let you know how much he doesn’t need your help. If it wasn’t for his scoffs and his scowls when he walked by you in the morning, it was the way your gaze would snap with his while he was whispering to another player, a smirk on both their faces, both sets of eyes transfixed on you.  

It’s a late afternoon, the sun still unwilling to waver its heat, washing the field a sea of vermillion, the grass no longer a shining vibrant green but coated amber by its rays. Practice ended maybe an hour ago, you couldn’t see far enough behind you where the clock hung in the box seats. You sat at one of the ruby seats close to the ground level, the blistering heat sizzling under your legs. You watched Gojo, the only player in the saffron-shaded field, reaching for a ball from his duffel, standing back from its position and kicking it with forceful speed, like a gutter punch, or the cocking of a gun. Like a bullet, the ball flies into the net and topples down to join the other dozen or so ones that had reached the same target. 

Gojo was a damn good player. You wondered if the problem was that he believed he was one in a million, or if he truly was one in a million and it pissed everyone off to see his lack of humility. In the meantime, he’s moved closer to left field where you sit, maybe just out of your earshot, to shoot from the left. He jogs back, running up to the ball, winding his right leg back then quickly switching his hips when his leg palindromes forward with his arms outstretched to the outreach of the field. You watch the ball dart through, once again, enveloped by the white mesh and landing on the patch. 

He pays you no mind, you’re not even sure he knows you’re there, it’s like he doesn’t even know where he is or it doesn’t matter where he is, in the amber grass, in the mud, it’s just about any way he can get a ball in the warp of the net. It was fully quiet by this point, except for the cicadas that danced with their signature anthem, though not too loud lest they break his focus. 

You smirk to yourself with a vicious idea. You watch him jog back again, gearing up for his shot, you watch him charge his right leg back, you wait for the moment the forefront of his foot is about to scoop the ball, and—

“Perfect weather we’re having, yeah?” You holler. The ball goes flying, hitting the perimeter pole with a clang! 

Gojo groans, fists balled up at his side, he lolls his head back to look skyward. The sun accentuates the sweat on the bridge of his nose, he is shaded blood orange all over. He turns to you, exasperated. 

“Are you fucking kidding me?” 

“Woah, I’m just trying to make small talk.”

He swings his head back, rolling his eyes, “Yeah, fucking small talk, I’m sure you are. What the hell are you still doing here anyway?” 

“Doing my job.”

He chuckles, a patronizing smile still tugging at his lips, “Hard day’s work, huh?” His condescending blue eyes flicker to yours. A bead of sweat runs down his neck and reaches the valley of his already glistening collarbone. 

“Hey, I’m here to help you. Matter of fact, I’ve been reading a bit while here.”

“Yeah?” 

He shifts from leg to leg, hands on his hips when he’s turned to you, under the same daze as Geto Suguru, unable to still his body in fear the piston halts. 

“Yeah, quite mad. A boy from Northside sent to Kyoto F.C. as a football prodigy. The third game from starting with the team, second half, scores a goal for the other team, I think might’ve been for —God, I can’t remember now—“

“Okayama,” he scoffs, he grins now but you can’t tell if this one is in malice or not, “I scored a goal for Okayama. What is this, you’re stalking me now? Reading my life story?”

“I do my research.”

Gojo pauses for a second, looking at the ball that he twirls from foot to foot, seemingly not saying much else and going back to his practice. 

“Though I’ll have you know, that team made it to J1 because of me.” You roll your eyes at this and it doesn’t go unnoticed. “What? I’m serious. And I’ll do the same with this team too. Write that in your little notebook.” 

“You really do think you’re one in a million,” you mumble. This doesn’t go unnoticed either despite the fact he’s standing far enough away that it should. 

“I am one in a million.” 

You tap your pen against the rigid white paper, wondering if it’s worth arguing, and by the tenth tap, deciding it is. “You’re one in eleven. In a match, one in twenty-two, with every player even for a small fragment thinking they’re one in a million.”

His smile isn’t genuine anymore, nor is it lingering on his lips at all. “You should focus more on your useless journalism,” he says, contempt like bile spitting from his lips.

“You should focus more on being one of eleven if you actually want to win tomorrow.”

Yeah, fucking high-road me, Gojo thinks. The pressure pinpoints at the base of his chest at the statement, for he understands what it means. It wasn’t about him, in any context. Even when he was benched. For bullshit reasons, he recalls. Idiot Suguru, instead of passing the ball to me when I’m wide open, he motions to move it to another. Ball gets intercepted and in a snap moment of rage, I try to intercept the intercept, foot sliding under the ball and knocking the opponent to the ground with a forceful push to the chest. Even then, even when it cost the team a loss, he thought if it wasn’t for him being benched, they would’ve won. But, if it wasn’t for his anger, his ego, he wouldn’t have gotten benched in the first place. If he thought as one in eleven, he wouldn’t have cost the whole team the chance at J1. 

He stares at the ball that comes to a halt at his ankles. If it was only that easy, he thinks. Before he joined Kyoto, he was made to believe he was special. How impossible it was for someone at his young age to be scouted by such a big team, even if they were nowhere near the Premier back then. He was made to believe he was the one who had to always score, who was the saving grace in the second half that tied the score and eventually overtook it completely. While he was part of a team, it was Gojo Satoru that the newscast would mention by name over and over. This pressure was only stacked on by his family until it became second nature for him to think so too. 

Gojo remembers the night he scored a goal for the other team. He smiled just then but back then, it was a gut punch, a sudden realization that hit him like a freight train for the first time since he was eight: Maybe he didn’t have it, he was a fool to think he was special. He couldn’t forget how bright the stadium lights all of a sudden shined. Have they always been this blindingly white? How he heard them ring loudly for the first time. He m

couldn’t forget the silence in the crowd, a breathless second before the cacophony of cheers and boos. He could never forget the way his father berated him in the car after everyone had already left the stadium. You’re either a winner or a failure. If you don’t win, this was all a waste and I’ve wasted my time on you. Back then, all Gojo could do was ball his fists, knuckles white, eyes locked onto his knees lest he dared shed a tear. From that moment, a second realization followed, he had to believe he was one in a million, he had no other choice. It wasn’t a player part of a team. It was either being a winner or a failure. 

“Whatever,” he grumbles quietly to his ball, kicking it and watching it warily bounce only a few feet ahead. For the first time since the morning, he notices his heart thumping in his rib cage. He grabs his duffel, paying no mind to you, and walks off the field.

It’s the day of the match and Gojo hasn’t stopped noticing his heart pumping in his chest. Since the evening prior, when he was in bed unable to sleep due to the loud thump, thump, thump that he swore was reverberating from his chest to his wrists and ankles to this morning on the way to the stadium to now, in the locker room. He could only fix his gaze on the floor beneath him, his coach’s speech muffled like he was speaking from the end of a tunnel. 

It’s only the way his Captain shuts his own locker, purposefully slamming so the metal rings for a second too long to snap Gojo from his daze. 

“The fuck is up with you?” He asks.

Gojo blinks in surprise like his eyes just learned how to blink. “Nothing.”

Geto sneers, “You're not nervous, are you?”

By this point, Gojo’s eyes have learned how to throw glaring daggers.

“No, I’m not fucking nervous. I’m just thinking.”

“Can’t believe you do that.”

Fuck you, he wants to spit back but grits his teeth instead, for he wouldn’t even be able to hear himself say it due to the bass that rumbles against the bones of his ribcage.

It’s the day of the match and you don’t think you can feel yourself breathe. The atmosphere of the stadium is so palpably loud, fans from either team unforgiving with their cheers or boos. As you make your way down the steps to your seat next to the managers and stakeholders, a cold breeze that contrasts the warm weather from this past week reminds you of yesterday. You couldn’t get the image of Gojo walking off the field out of your head, the way he didn’t go back to practicing his strikes, the way his shoulders slumped and trembled, the grimace overtaking each feature of his face. A part of you feels bad for having potentially set him off like that, unsure of what it was that completely changed his body language like a ventriloquist that all of a sudden tugged at the strings so hard, that he pulled the egotistical Gojo out and left behind this hollow shell. You’re not able to mull over it much longer because the players have already begun walking out to the playfield, and the announcers begin their commentary.

This could be this team’s make-or-break match, a defining game that takes them closer to the finals and closer to their Premier. We all witnessed the Ace of the team, Gojo Satoru, penalize the team weeks ago. Do you think he has it in him to cooperate this time? 

You don’t catch any part of the answer, the roars of the crowd when the players shuffle out ringing from ear to ear. You can immediately spot Geto Suguru at the front, his stoic manner not letting up to how loud the crowd cheers for him. Gojo is last, at the end, and he too doesn’t give much reaction. Surprisingly. 

The players file in a straight line, parallel to the opposing team. Geto and the opposing team’s captain join the referee for the coin toss. It is by a stroke of pure coincidence that amid hundreds of people, Gojo glances up and immediately spots you in the second row from the drop-off and it is by a sliver of luck that you connect his gaze in that same moment. He takes this as a good sign. What are the fucking odds? He wants to be annoyed but can’t ignore the comedic jab from deep within his ribcage. You watch as he doesn’t scowl, doesn’t narrow his eyes like lasers, but shakes his head, a chuckle shuddering through him. 

It’s three minutes left of the added time and the teams are tied 1-1. Your insides feel like scrambled eggs. Gojo hadn’t scored a goal yet; the first and only goal played by Geto. The crowd had gone crazy for that one, you even caught yourself gasping in your seat when the ball spun in the net. The crowd’s cheers and nerves were contagious. The way your heart raced for a sport you hadn’t given much second thought a month ago was deafening, but you knew how the boys played, you got to see each of their tactics and their sportsmanship as a team. The way the offense switched legs last minute to divert the ball and make a pass to another. The way the goalie hopped from foot to foot never ending and always anticipating. 

It’s only a couple minutes left of time and both teams are level. Both teams have brought out their best tonight from the dugout, it’s been a tough match.

Intercept. That’s what Geto does when he gains possession of the ball. You heard the word a lot when you’d watch commentated games hours into the night. 

A through pass from Geto and Gojo is immediately off with it! He’s a tough player to catch, it’s him against another player, we know he might take this and could. But he makes a quick pass to a wide-open Haibara! 

Your body feels numb watching the pass, how quickly Gojo slides his leg, almost slipping and falling to pass to Haibara who stands to the left of him and quickly receives the ball. 

And he scores it! 

The crowd roars like a thrashing wave, and you catch yourself scrambling to your feet and cheering too. Gojo sprints to Haibara, jumping in his arms; He smiles hard, you don’t think you’ve seen his full set of teeth before. The rest of the boys topple on top of them like sardines as the referee rings the final whistle of the game. 

What a play we’ve seen tonight, it’s like night and day with this team. This only puts them closer to the Premier and hope they can keep this up for the season.

You wait for him in the same tunnel he stormed through the day before. You don’t want to admit that you’re waiting for him, but the stadium lights illuminate your presence standing there so perfectly that you can’t even hide it. You watch them walk through, all smiles, one player having their arm around another, another walking by you still in disbelief, another running by with a player on his back, guiding them towards the lockers. You spot Gojo walking up alone, chest heaving, and glistening. He looks up to immediately meet your gaze, a grin taking over his face, this one most genuine. 

“Hey, there you are,” he breathes out. He slows down in front of you, placing his head atop the crown of your head. He gives your hair a ruffle and chuckles breathlessly. You can’t ignore the way your heart is doing summersaults in your chest. “You were right by the way.” 

“Yeah? About what?”

“That teambuilding bullshit you were talking about, yesterday and all. I think without you, we would’ve stayed tied.”

Maybe you had a freak accident at some point during this project, hit your head so hard you forgot to feel any animosity towards Gojo because the stadium lights spotlight the most ridiculous smile on your face for everyone to see. 

“Guess I was useful after all.”

Gojo laughs at that, a real-from-the-belly laugh. He gives your head one last gentle pat before he continues his stride to the locker room, looking back once more for your reaction. 

NOTE: i feel a bit burnt out and wanted to write a simple drabble w/ this idea however it surpassed the drabble word count but not the low-effort drabble vibes i hope -- maybe MAYBE in the future i can make a second part thats more juiceyyyy come chat! lmk what you thought! mwah (▰˘◡˘▰)

It’s true what they say, boys (nb). Cope hard enough and your wishes and prayers for NPCs to become actual cards will become a reality… Happened with Rollo, now it’s happening with Crowley—and presumably other NRC Staff. (I wonder if Year 4 of JP anniversary will feature staff in the groovy with Grim??)

IT’S SO FUNNY THAT THEY MADE THE MOST USELESS STAFF MEMBER THE FIRST STAFF CARD 😭 I thought for sure they would “save the best for last” but I guess Crowley isn’t really “the best”, huh… BUT HEY, at least now we can chuck him into battles against OBs and make him be a responsible adult and actually work to earn his coin 💰

I hope we get vignettes and not just furniture for Crowley! It would be cool to have a short story that centers around him, even if it’s just him goofing around and being unproductive. I’ll happily take a day in the life of Crowley anytime!!

I have so many questions about how Crowley would work gameplay-wise?????? ?? ? ? ????? ?? ? I wonder if we’ll be able to make staff members attend class…? But that’s odd, isn’t it?? Why would teachers be studying? And what happens if there’s a situation where like. Crowley is a student but also Crowley crashed in for a Special Lesson segment? Double Crowley?!?!?!?! The Spiderman meme where they point at each other?? Or will staff not be able to attend lessons at all and you just have to feed them materials to level them up outside of class… (You know what, leeching off of resources that the students worked hard to farm is very in-character for Crowley, so if this is the case then I won’t be upset 😂) What about Duo Magic??? Will Crowley actually be able to combo with a student??? Or will it be with Grim or whatever staff card is coming next...?

His card art looks hella cool ✨ It’s really atmospheric but also has a bit of that unique Crowley flair if you notice where exactly he’s seated (on his own damn desk www) while posing so sassily. And is that the word RAVEN literally making up the teeth at the end of his key-like staff????? That’s so Crowley of him…

What I am slightly concerned about is…

… Why is the composition of Malleus’s Dorm Uniform card and Crowley’s card kinda similar…

Malleus is clearly turned to the side, but the slight worm’s eye view is the same and the lighting is somewhat close (relatively dark)… and both of them are holding staves while sitting. Plus the timing of Crowley dropping mid-book 7… AND sharing elements in Malleus’s Masquerade (Crowley notoriously wears a mask) groovy of all things (similar angle, chandelier overhead)… With the fan theory of Crowley actually being Malleus’s missing dad at an all-time fever pitch in popularity, this has me a little worried (since I personally think the theory doesn’t have a lot of solid proof and leaves a lot to be explained in terms of his actions).

Maybe that’s me overthinking it, but TWST has been known to intentionally do parallel or mirrored designs before (though I’ll admit this instance isn’t as clear cut as previous instances). I’m just pointing out what I see and I’ll leave the final judgment up to you, dear readers! I’m sure the “Crowley is Malleus’s dad” theorists will be in a frenzy picking apart these details www

ive never really had a pet white man. ive had many pet white men characters, yes, but never a little pet white man actor who I wish to give treats and pats to like a purse dog. I never before really understood the phenomenon until my 5th or so rewatch of true detective in the year 2024, at which point something demonic was unlocked in my brain. why? how? a mystery for my therapist, when I had a therapist, but I don't anymore, so now it's a mystery for you. overcome with the insatiable urge to tape his picture to the front of my binder and write "hott" underneath it in sharpie I mentally detransitioned and, embracing my latent teenage girl (the girl I was, perhaps, in another world, one parallel to ours; a darker world, but of equal worth to our own sphere, damned as it may be) --began to watch every Matthew mcconaughey romcom ever made.

how to lose a guy in 10 days: this is a near perfect 00s romcom, too much secondhand embarrassment to be a real mainstay for me, but it nonetheless hits every beat with aplomb. particularly tickled to see them playing bullshit the card game which was a family and friend group fave for me growing up. he and Kate Hudson have probably fucked, which added a lot to the chemistry. in one scene Kate Hudson described how cute he was rubbing his face into her tits and her friend says, do you want to date him or adopt him? at which point I saw into the void, which then saw back into me. instantly it became apparent to me that he will act circles around whoever he's paired with to the point that it actually becomes kind of comical how good of a performance he's giving in a movie that includes not one but two scenes of a dog pissing on a pool table. that being said bebe neuwirth CARRIED this film on her BEAUTIFUL lithe back. 1 instance of no shirt, unfortunately brief. 7/10. vape I hit at midpoint also a 7/10, coincidentally

NB: after watching this movie I had a dream that I was at the beach with him and Kate hudson and I hated her because she had stolen may man.

the wedding planner: when I watched this I got extremely caught up in two things 1 the fact that he went on a date with another woman while engaged and almost kissed her and 2 jlo playing an italian girl. this led me to think about what race is/was in 90s-00s, colorism, borders of the latinx body and codemeshing. something interesting about the wedding planner is that the leads are in every way the opposite of the character they are playing, with little effort to no effort to make up for that diff (Matthew not at all acting like a wholesome pediatrician and rarely seen with children/jlo not at all acting (like) or being an italian). as a result the fourth wall in this movie is made out of wobbling cellophane, an upsetting and uncanny experience. Matthew doing a tango meant a lot to me as a fan of rust's deranged impromptu norteñas tutorial in true detective. as he is a texan, I think he is essentially one of my people. 0 instances of no shirt. 2/10

failure to launch: at the first incident of animal slapstick (chipmunk related) I had the thought while the scene wore on and on, I feel like I'm on drugs. that's because I was on drugs, which I then remembered, but a joint doesnt deny the truth, only reveal it. there are many sports, and Matthew doing sports. I wouldn't be surprised if the original conception of this movie was more like lars and the real girl or silver linings playbook which then had to get repackaged as a rom com bc some parts of this kind of push at the seams of the haha funny tone which makes for a shockingly bad film but a very interesting way to think about process and what this writer's passion project would be. by the final animal slapstick incident (dolphin, second appearance) I really said what the fuck out loud, like actually out loud in my home. we started off strong with some shirtlessness and a calf shot during the sex scene, but the chipmunk to dolphin to bird to iguana to dolphin pipeline really took the wind out of my sails. 1/10

ghosts of girlfriends past: This is doubtless Matthew's worst performance--and yet what a triumph it is, purely because for any other actor, it would be the peak of a career. Matthew has an incredible naturalism. About 15 minutes into this movie, Matthew gets belligerently drunk at his brother's rehearsal dinner. Through half-lidded, glassy eyes, he delivers with thoughtless verve the exact sort of diatribe a man not only uncaring but also unaware of his cruelty can; and yet, in that passivity, he unearths pathos. I consider it an underpainting--a little window which peeks out of a bad script to a fully conceived person. Throughout its runtime, the film degenerates into a pantomime, even parody, of itself: but with just a series of slow blinks, Matthew conveys a complete psyche, an entire lifetime. I truly believe that he comes to roles even those he dislikes with an inescapable talent and sensitivity. If I could bring half of his effort and spark and originality to my own creative pursuits, that would make for a very good career indeed. (Some of) My retrospective grievances Bakugan

I loved Bakugan growing up--and for the most part, the first two seasons hold up. That said, I did want to mention things about the series that I wish they'd done better. Some of it's nit-picks, and some of it is stuff that really annoyed me. I don't recall everything, so be sure to let me know if I misremembered some things!

There's NO WAY Dan, Shun, and Runo were 11 years old (in the Japanese version; they were 12 in the English version, which is still unbelievable to me). I'd buy that everyone on the team was 16-18 and Marucho was 12.

I wish the parents and more adults in general were more involved in Bakugan. Magical creatures and cards that put you in another dimension fall from the sky and it's mostly just young people who use them? It feels like parents would at least be more concerned about what's going on, but Dan's parents aren't super involved--heck, I remember being surprised that he had a dad! That's something we never see from Yugi (whose dad is always on a business trip) and Ash (whose dad is a mystery).

Terrible treatment t of female characters. Julie, Alice, and Runo were great members of the team, but they were essentially removed from the show in season 2 because Drago only wanted to involve Dan. That'd be fine, but Marucho tagged along too, and Shun found his way there, too--and the male/female ratio was thrown off enormously, because we got a lot of new male characters, and very few new female characters.

Give more information on the location of the characters. Julie is from Australia and Alice is from Russia. Aside from missing accents, I'd have liked to have seen how Bakugan affected the different countries/cultures.

More backstories for the characters. I recall Shun's backstory and how it ties into his relationship with Skyress, but everyone else deserves that, too--plus it'd be neat to see how his traditional background (with his grandfather being a ninja) affecting his relationship with Marucho, who comes from a rich and modern family, as well as his friendship with Dan, who is also more modern.

Too many side characters who don't return for season 2 onwards. I always hated that we had fun characters like Chan Lee, Billy, and Klaus who are just written off later. It would've been fun to see them become bigger characters as the show went on rather than smaller ones.

Marucho and Shun keep getting new Bakugan. I'd have enjoyed it if the original 6 Bakugan returned to the team and they got Bakugan as well--namely because Ingram and Elfin were the only good "replacement" Bakugan for Marucho and Shun. The girls can just have their OG bakugan like Dan, or they could have two (their OG and a new one) like Shun and Marucho--though I guess technically Marucho would have 3 because of Angelo/Diablo.

Why is it that only some Bakugan can talk while the rest don't? I kinda wish they all could talk, as well as not having duplicate bakugan with different elements.

The Vexos needed more backstories and didn't have to die. For a kids' show, this felt like a needlessly grim fate for them--and an annoying one if you grew up with the English dub, since they're just lost in another dimension rather than dead. It's Yu-Gi-Oh all over again--except the original and 5Ds had every right to be that dark. They could've just been imprisoned and we could've learned about more of them outside of Spectra and Gus. I really loved Lync and Alice, as well as Shadow and Mylene's chemistry, as well as the parallels between Volt and Baron.

Ingram's gender. This is more of a dub issue. To my understanding, Ingram is male, though in the dub, he was referred to as female for the first half of the anime with a female voice actor, and then male in the later half with a male voice actor. I'd be fine if he was NB or genderfluid, though if I had to pick between male and female, I'd prefer if he was male, given that Shun already had Skyress as a mother-figure, and Ingram could represent Shun's insecurities.

No one's gonna explain that moment between Drago and Percival in episode 26 of "New Vestroia"? That's the most surprising rivalry-turned-(almost) romance I've ever seen.

"Gundalion Invaders" was basically "New Vestroia" but with less interesting characters.

Amara and Castiel Parallels in 15x17

Castiel rebelled against Heaven and (through his connection with Dean) came to truly love humanity and the world. Look at this shot of him in 6x20 The Man Who Would be King, on a heart decorated bench surrounded, even in the winter of his doubt, by flowers.

Amara raged against her brother, Chuck, but (through her connection with Dean) she stopped being simply The DarknessTM and came to truly love and appreciate the beauty of the world Chuck had created (when he no longer could): 

We talked, at length, back in S11, about the contrast parallels drawn by the narrative between the forced bond between Amara and Dean in S11 and the profound (chosen) bond between Dean and Cas.

And we also talked, at the beginning of S15 about the new set of parallels being drawn between Cas and Amara.

Amara breaks up with Chuck in Reno in 15x02 Raising Hell (in front of a picture of the Taj Mahal, mausoleum to dead love) because he’s treating her poorly, and only wants to use/ control her, rather than respect her as an equal:

CHUCK: “Amara, we've been all through this. We belong together.”

AMARA: “Yes. Yes, yin, yang, balance of nature. I am willing to coexist with you, brother, in the universe. Just not, you know, anywhere near you.”

CHUCK: “Hey, don't test me. I front the group. You sing backup.”

Cas breaks up with Dean in 15x03 The Rupture because Dean is treating Cas poorly, blaming him for Mary’s (apparent) death (as Cas was the one who brought Jack into their lives etc.):

CASTIEL: “The plan changed, Dean. Something went wrong. You know this. Something always goes wrong.”

DEAN: “Yeah, why does that something always seem to be you?”

CASTIEL: “You used to trust me, give me the benefit of the doubt. Now you can barely look at me. My powers are failing, and -- and I've tried to talk to you, over and over, and you just don't want to hear it. You don't care. I'm... dead to you.”

Eventually, Cas returns to Dean and Dean apologises for his behaviour in Purgatory 2.0, in 15x09 The Trap. But, things are still not truly OK between them. Dean loses faith in Free Will and joins Team Fate, getting down with Billie’s plan to turn Jack into a suicide-bomb to kill God, thus denying that Jack is truly family, which breaks Cas’ heart all over again.

Just as Amara tries to get her brother to accept a true partnership in 15x17 Unity, but he won’t, and still wants to absorb/ control her.

And now, Cas has just had to watch Dean, in 15x17, intent on killing God, apparently dismiss Castiel as unimportant to him (although we know that’s not how Dean really feels). 

Dean has already, at this point, unilaterally, fed Cas’ beloved son, Jack, the final bomb ingredient (Adam’s rib) and, as Cas crouches against the wall shielding his dangerously unwell son, Dean yells at Sam that he is willing to sacrifice everyone to get free of Chuck, including, Castiel is bound to have surmised, himself. 

In 15x17 Amara tells Dean: “We will always help each other”:

but he betrays her. And after that, she agrees to be re-blended with her brother Chuck, apparently, a kind of “suicide” for her, as Chuck “absorbs”  her. Although, I feel certain, as I’ve said in other meta about the episode, that the feminine principle is not truly lost from the narrative, but will return, and Amara will change Chuck from the inside.

The persistent Amara/ Cas parallel in the narrative, however, at this point, gives us insight into what mind-state Castiel may be in, in 15x18 Despair (i.e., like 15x17 betrayed Amara, a self-sacrificial one). 

Castiel told Dean in 15x02 Raising Hell: 

“You asked, what about all of this is real? We are...”

But, Dean couldn’t hear it, couldn’t believe it, so sure that everything in his life had been written by Chuck. Now, although Chuck has confirmed in 15x17 that *this* Castiel was always a wild-card agent of Free Will, is it too late for Dean and Cas to get on the same page about how much they mean to each other? 

Remember when Cas committed the awful sin of breaking the wall in Sam’s mind (Dean’s brother-son) back in 6x22 The Man Who Knew Too Much? 

Now, Dean has committed a similarly awful sin, being willing to sacrifice the life of Castiel’s son, Jack. 

This is the moment of 15x18 Despair, BUT, take heart lovelies, it is not the last moment.  This is a penultimate story beat, not the final story beat. 

NB: Obviously, as far as Chuck is concerned, Sam and Dean mirror Amara and himself (which is why he wants one brother to kill the other, in his preferred ending - playing out his own fratricidal impulses). 

NB also: reading the evidently crafted Amara/ Castiel parallels does not automatically mean the narrative is going to break into a rainbow of obvious romantic/ erotic love, declared between Dean and Cas (although it’s all there in the subtext - and subtext IS part of narrative). Amara and Chuck are God-Twins, siblings and family in overt text. Their coding as lovers is subtextual (like the use of the Taj Mahal painting between them, above).

1 - give short descriptions of all your current WIPs

Ahhhhhhh this might get slightly long so sorry in advance [I apologize for NOTHING]. They dont really have names so this is gonna be fun to keep track of

There's one that's basically almost autobiographical lmfao, where a genderqueer lesbian teenager is figuring himself out. It's really self indulgent bc the two main characters are the nb girl and her teacher, and they get p close, and the teen in basically in love with their best friend (romantically? Platonically? Who can say [=maybe I'll decide when i figure out my own feelings about my friend]), and her story mirrors the story of the teacher, who is in a qpr with another woman. Basically it's self indulgence about how i need a dependable adult figure in my life. I'm gonna move on to the rest cuz they're not nearly as depressing as this

Space pirates - i still haven't worked out everything but I'm thinking of maybe doing two parallel stories, where basically one group of overworked workers on a spaceship are considering a mutiny so as they're planning the thing they're telling the story of the first space pirate crew from earth to overthrow the captain of the spaceship and take command for themselves, and how they oparated and how those supposedly legendary people were actually just people. Like they have the auras of greek heros but all the stories people tell about them are actually about tenderness and care and the simple goodness of humanity

WITCHES - I'm still tryna figure out a plot that isn't entirely a The Owl House rip-off, but basically the world is where magic is fundamentally about a connection w nature. And not everyone has that connection and that's okay bc nature can't provide everything so there are essentially two coexisting societies with ties that benefit everyone (it's a utopia - witches basically have "shifts" in the fields to grow an infinite amount of food, and the non-witches give them essential products). When it comes to characters, the main character is a girl who comes from a non-witch family and basically Has The Connection With Nature (which is not uncommon) but her family is relatively conservative so she gets a lot of Looks and mild disapproval from them (yah this is basically a queer metaphor). And basically she goes to live with an old lesbian witch couple at the parallel witch town. And I'm thinking maybe the witchs' son will be a non-witch and will go live with the girl's family (thats also a queer metaphor although i haven't figued exactly how. Anyway he's gay. The witch girl is also gay)? Basically Found Family Shenanigans. But it's not exactly a plot yet

Magic World™ - i have a few ideas for stories in this world (maybe I'll just write a bunch of short stories? I dunno) but i really like this world!! Basically magic is entirely about curiosity and kindness. The world will literally sense your intentions and will not let you do anything Evil with magic. And there's this whole thing where if you become evil out of good intentions the world will not let you pass it on to anyone. So if you don't redeem yourself, the world will not let you have kids (as in, adoption basically - there's no biological reproduction [i started thinking about this when i was twelve okay]. If you want a kid, the world will sense that. And when the infallible world will sense that you're ready, you will just wake up one morning and there'll be a fucken baby outside). So every idea for a story i have in that world is basically about villians redemption arcs but fun ig? Listing all of them would genuinely take forever so im Not Gonna Do That Here. Also the way i explained the world is a bit rudimentary and there's more depth to it but it's hard to explain without a plot lmao

Seedbombing gone wrong - this is my most recent one i think. Basically a bunch of kids try to do seedbombing at school bc the school cut down a beloved tree and then there are So Many Flowers Just Everywhere bc the ground was Magical. Also one of the teacher is a witch/fairy and will explain shit to the kids. Idk i haven't thought a lot about this one but it's a fun idea for the future

2 - give short descriptions of the main character from one of your WIP

Well fortunately for those of you who decided to read this far i dont exactly have many fleshed out ideas for main characters. The only one from a story where the main character isn't literally me that i know what they're gonna be like is the captain of the legendary original space pirate spaceship from the space pirates story. Basically I'm imagining her like Lovelace from wolf 359 (a combination of her pre and after trauma. Also I'm only about halfway through the podcast so no spoilers) - so generally a fun person and cares deeply for her crew, but feels like everyone's fate rests on her shoulders and is dealing with So Much. Oh if the question was about physical description then idk really? I just know that she's gonna be a woc (it makes so much sense for the worldbuilding but i could talk about that for hours. In the same vein, she was also in prison at some point. Bc the system discriminates heavily and deliberately against people who were in prison. Again i could talk about that for so long lmao). Also she's gonna have a romantic arc with the ship's appointed doctor bc Tenderness and h/c. Cuz basically she needs to learn to let herself rest and what better way to do that than the cliché of a loved one pulling the doctor card on her

Talks Machina Highlights - Critical Role C2E12 (Apr 3, 2018)

Happy 60th episode, Talks Machina! Take that, only-12-episodes-of-Critical-Role! (NB: Brian made the same joke like five minutes into the episode. I don’t know what this says about me.)

Matt names all the episodes (he now comes up with a name right after the episode, which may or may not match his working title for the session) and Dani writes the descriptions (for early episodes, it was Taliesin).

Joe Manganiello pops up on FaceTime, calling from the very fancy Gary Gygax Memorial DM Chair. As one does. There’s a brief discussion about amazing minis and casting him as Wolverine. Brian: “Dude, can you believe... that guy’s a nerd.”

Had Beau been involved in the infirmary debacle, Marisha suspects she’d be a lot less nice than Fjord.

If the team hadn’t picked up Ulog, he would’ve tried to infiltrate the High Richter’s house by himself partway through, and possibly could’ve ended up in an altercation with the party. There was also the chance of developing a rift with the Knights of Requital if things had gone badly in a different way.

Beau can step up to a leadership role when the group’s goals are in jeopardy, but it’s still generally rooted in selfish reasons.

Was the Rug of Smothering revenge for the magic carpet-related antics in the first campaign? Matt: “In hindsight, subconsciously, maybe?”

There was another chamber with some extra information they could’ve acquired, there were some challenges they avoided, but Matt doesn’t want to get into specifics in case the party decides to go back at some point.

Matt briefly considered having the Metagaming Pigeon make an appearance to drop a hint about mage hand, but decided it was more fun to bring it up after the fact.

If Fjord and Caleb had been actively in combat when she arrived, the High Richter would’ve turned around and brought in the guards instead of coming in alone. Many of the group could’ve wound up being arrested.

Matt is enjoying being able to space out the intense moments and give people a chance to explore their characters, especially after the constant intensity of high-level D&D at the end of the last campaign.

Everyone is delighted at the second username of the night that ends with a “69″.

Marisha suspects that Beau and Fjord might have similar morality beats, although Fjord’s better at holding his cards close to his chest.

Ulog’s item was a Necklace of Fireballs with only one use left. His final fatal attack was a last-ditch secondary plan in case things went south.

Marisha points out that Beau doesn’t know yet that Ulog’s dead.

Fanart of the week: a glimpse at the events at the end of the episode.

Matt placed the scroll purposely as an invitation for character drama: “I put it there knowing it was going to cause a ruckus... but I didn’t think it was going to cause that much of a ruckus.” Marisha: “Fuckin’ reality show director here.”

Marisha’s reaction to the ending was: “Wow, that escalated quickly!” Beau’s still in shock over all this, and right now her only thought is, “Run.”

Matt is a little defensive over people pointing out how many towers he’s brought down between the two campaigns (there’s a great back-and-forth where he points out that one of them was the party’s fault, but Marisha insists that they were inspired by a previous tower falling, and I’m really dodging spoilers here so let’s get out of this parenthetical). Marisha gets into how a tower is generally a symbol of power and established order.

Marisha points out that the whole party is trying to keep in mind that they’re just level 3 and they’re not established heroes, so they can’t run towards the problem the way VM could. Brian points out that VM was also already at will-die-for-each-other levels of loyalty at their big crisis point, whereas MN are still begrudging allies for the most part.

Matt, on the players now knowing to look for plot clues in smut: “I am so excited for them to be hoarding all the smut and have none of it inform anything for the rest of the campaign.” Later: “Please... please don’t keep doing that.” He loves the idea of some ultra-powerful future-seer in-universe hiding all this stuff in smut.

Matt is continually surprised at the weird parallels between the campaigns that keep creeping in here and there, like the intra-party conflict right before the big upheaval.

Marisha tries to RP her combat and find in-universe reasons to do new things. She’s looking forward to having the Cobalt Soul abilities really start to kick in. Matt points out that the Cobalt Soul abilities are situationally useful.

Asked about Lord Sutan being from the same family that lost the Plate of the Dawnmartyr in a game of cards last campaign, Matt says: “...maybe.”

Matt put in a few red flags for Ulog to see if the party would pick up on just how desperate he was (like giving away his life’s savings to the party).

There was an alternate plan out there for the party to learn about the Crick (that they can still avail themselves of), but the smut plot was made up on the spot as a tease of information.

Who does Beau trust the most in the Mighty Nein? Marisha: “Probably Jester, believe it or not. Jester’s the most open book thus far.” Brian asks to what extent she trusts what Jester says. “Beau thinks that Jester believes what she believes, and that’s enough for Beau. She sees her as being 100% forthright.”

Matt is enjoying being able to bring in these lower-level enemies he didn’t get a chance to use in the last campaign.

Dark Times at Talks Machina High on Alpha:

Pillow Matt is the true power behind the throne and gets his own splitscreen.

Matt had a plan in mind if the party had opted to turn in the Knights of Requital. They would’ve received a reward, gotten in good with the Crownsguard and the High Richter, and probably would’ve been invited to the Gala. It was possible that they could’ve taken plot hooks that took them further from the tower, and they may have only heard about the events of that night the next day.

Marisha feels like, compared to the other team, she and Jester did “pretty fuckin’ okay” at casing their building, and they even managed to retain their dignity.

Of everybody, Matt most fears the notion of Jester getting her hands on a Deck of Many Things.

Matt’s priority as a DM is always to keep his players excited and engaged. He finds D&D to be a great exercise in renewing friendships and relationships. Marisha has really come to appreciate the problem-solving aspects of the game.

Matt’s moving mouth has been superimposed on Pillow Matt. “What have you done.”

Information about VM is not common knowledge in the Empire, especially since Wildemount either wasn’t directly involved in or didn’t really believe a lot of the threats they faced. It would be a history roll for the current characters to learn more about them.

Matt does an alarmingly good Keyleth impression when Brian points out that Marisha’s perfect attendance means Matt’s never had to play her character.

Marisha recommends getting Dwarven Forge by running a D&D game at your work as a corporate team-building exercise. Some talk of tax fraud gets bandied around. It’s fine.

it's gonna fare in terms of power consumption and uh yeah all that stuff i have a separate power supply to see how much the gpu is taking so we're going to see how that all goes within this video hopefully you guys enjoy and i'll also update the hash rate spreadsheet that i have on google docs so link down below you guys may have saw the video where i already tested out a 3080ti founders edition and so i got a bunch of those hashrates already thank you to techshinji he is another youtuber who let me remote in to test that 3080ti so link down below to tech shinji's channel thank you so much man but anyways guys in this video i received this i chill x3 3080 ti from mineshop.eu and it looks like they got a couple of gpus for sale on their website as we speak looks like they have a 30 80 amp holo for sale i'm not quite sure if that's lhr or non-lhr but guys go check them out link down below mineshop.eu thank you so much all right so before i plug in the gpu i just want to show you guys something when i unboxed it the no3d they said here the product is not designed for crypto mining we reserve the right to void the warranty if there's any damage associated with this application no3d so i found that to be pretty funny it was the anti-static bag around this card and i just had to laugh and i posted it on instagram and a bunch of you guys laughed as well but anyways let me just flip it around here so you guys can see what else is going on with this graphics card it's just it's quite interesting there's a lot going on and uh i'll show you something in a sec here but i'm just showing you the back side of it so you guys can see what this gpu is all about and there's the two eight pins for power and here is the io this thing is extremely heavy it's it's quite amazing and i know this is gonna be lit up in terms of the rgb or the light bar as you guys can see on the box that looks pretty cool and then it also came with this like plastic insert that goes onto the back here i guess this is going to be lit up in terms of there must be rgb on the back here and then i had to screw it in and so there's another insert here it's just clear without the x3 marking so i thought that was pretty interesting pretty interesting anyways guys without further ado let me go ahead i'm going to plug it into my test mining rig here i have two 360s right now so i'm going to remove both and we're going to put the 3080ti on a gpu risers.com riser brand spanking new and also on a hp server psu this is from parallel miner using a 1200 watt psu going into a kilowatt meter that you guys can see right there all right so you guys will see the 3080 ti on there right now oh all right so it's been about about a week now i've been playing around with this 3080 ti and i've been kind of just scratching my head figuring out why i cannot get 80 mega hash or more on this 380 ti specifically and i will show you guys my results right now it's it's pretty sporadic between like 68 69 mega hash to like 73 mega hash and here are my settings so let me just talk with you all and what i've figured out with this card specifically and i know a lot of others have gotten different results out there with the 3080 ti and so here are the settings that i was able to achieve no matter what i did doing minus like 502 you know plus 100 or even like you know going from 100 to 200 300 400 500 600 and so on in terms of the memory as i was going higher in the memory i was losing mega hash alright so i don't know if that happened to you guys but let me know down below what 3080 ti that you guys have and let me know what settings you did in order to achieve whatever mega hash that you are able to get on your 3080 ti and i just want to show you like the id in terms of the tech power app it shows 2208 so i think that's the normal id for this you know this model of 38dti so you know we got we can get 71 now it's only been running for about 30 minutes now but you can look at my also memory temperatures which is 88 degrees celsius so that's totally fine and i'm using the latest version of nb miner 39.2 with the nvidia driver 471. 11 okay and no matter what i've tried so now i'm getting 73 now but then it's gonna go back to like 69 68 mega hash it just goes all over the place so there you go i i've tried even like if i go back to stock actually before i do that i want to show you the power consumption we are at the gpu or at the wall it says it's like you know 298 306 it jumps around but in the software it shows 267 okay or for what i'm able to achieve now if i just put everything back to stock okay and now also if i bring up the fan back up because i don't want it to get too hot so at the stock power now uh yeah it's going to change a bit i want to know from you all like if you guys have tested out the latest version of the nb miner with the dash lhr or even without it because i know nv miner now can do the lhr unlock without adding the dash lhr in the batch file okay so yeah that's something let me know down below what you guys get in terms of the mega hash but yeah maybe specifically this no3d i chill x3 which is really cool by the way i don't know what you guys think about this cooler but man it's got interesting rgb lighting on the back here with the little plastic piece i showed you guys earlier it looks like i can change this out if i wanted but i think i like the x3 logo one on it and then it's got the i chill light bar at the top which seems pretty cool but otherwise i don't really care about that i care about the the silicon i guess on this gpu specifically and i'm curious to know if maybe if there is a possibly another revision of the lhr as i think this 380 ti is maybe really recent in terms of manufacturing and okay so anyways just to show you guys 72 mega hash we got up there at about 267 watts and this is at 100 power this is just stock okay with 80 fan and you can see at the wall nothing has really changed we are still at 300 and around 300 watts for this gpu so i don't know what's going on maybe you guys can let me know if there's anything else i can try i did try doing ddu okay on this whole machine in windows i got rid of the nvidia driver installed brand new i did that reinstalled msi afterburner i even tried the latest nvidia driver just to see if that would unlock it maybe even more but no that didn't help at all i i don't know if i'm doing something wrong i tried dash lhr 68 lhr 69 lhr 70. I even tried 71 72 and so on just to see if i could get any better results and like i said earlier i tried all the different numbers in terms of the core in terms of the memory it seems like as i was getting higher memory it was getting worse mega hash so yeah i i just want to know like this is a really interesting card and i've seen people get 80. and there's someone on my discord that was able to get 85 on an evga for the win 3 edition card so i don't know what's up with that i don't know if that has a specific maybe different lhr method from the manufacturer but i want to know from you guys in terms of the brands in terms of the model in terms of the overclocks that you guys are able to use on your 3080ti let me know down below hopefully that will help others out there and yeah i've seen all different types of reports of different hash rates for these 38 dtis and yeah i'm just totally confused as to why this one whatever settings i try to do it just cannot get to the number that i've seen other people get all right so anyways let me know what you guys think i now want to try ergo and ravencoin so let's do ergo first i'll be right back all right we are mining ergo some of you guys were wondering maybe what the power consumption is of the motherboard and the power supply for the motherboard ssd ram cpu all that it's drawing about 21 20 20 watts right now okay and now we're mining ergo on this 3080 ti we're using about 327 watts at the wall i think this hp server psu is maybe not as efficient at the lower levels of power consumption maybe more towards 50 then we'll get more efficiency there but anyways i want to show you guys the ergo hash rate that i can achieve on this 3080 ti 272.5 mega hash on the auto lycos algorithm and the power consumption according to the software says 289 watts and then the memory temperature that some of you may want to know is about 82 degrees celsius so that's pretty good at 80 fan my ambient temperature right now where i am doing this video is it's pretty cool so this the temperature the memory temperature is on this 380ti it's not bad but i'm assuming once it gets hotter i guess during the summer time and now that fall is coming uh you know i won't know and until it gets hotter during the day but anyways that's the ergo hash rate i mean that's really good honestly i'm gonna take the ethereum hash rate the ergo hash rate and the raven coin hash rate in a second here and see what is the most profitable algorithm on this 380 ti that we achieved today okay and here are my overclock settings just in case some people are curious i was able to do 83 power limit minus 100 on the core and plus 1370 on the memory and 80 fan and that is the mega hash that i'm able to achieve on this card all right guys let's do ravencoin all right i have reason to believe that the no3d i chill x3 3080 ti is also like further lhred and maybe they figured out on the ravencoin algorithm kapow because i know for a fact that these 380 ti's are supposed to get above 50 megahash at stock power limit all right and you can see here i just put plus 150 core zero memory i'll show you guys something funny in a second here to show that when i add more memory the mega hash will start going lower so let me just show you guys that right now let me show you the initial power consumption 328 watts and the tdp of this thing is supposed to be 350 watts so isn't it theoretically supposed to be taking up the full power consumption now i wonder if the lhr is already activated because you can see here the tdp is uh 83.9 83 tdp right now even though i have the 100 power limit set and i have tried uninstalling afterburner clean install twice now with a clean install of the driver as well i did ddu and everything and this gpu cannot get above i can't get past 43 or 44 mega hash on this thing so let me just show you guys something let me put this up to let's just say 1000 memory just a moderate 1000 okay we're going to hit check i'm not going to change anything else and i want to show you guys here the i guess the memory controller load it was at a hundred okay it was at 100 before but when i just changed it to a thousand it's now down to about 87 percent now we're gonna see the hash rate drop all right we were at like 43. 44 now we're going to 42 and 42.8 and it's continuing to go lower 42.67 so like do you guys think that this card is lhred like further on ravencoin is it just me or am i going crazy because i don't know from from what i've been seeing out there i've been seeing that this card is supposed to get about 50 to like 56 mega hash mining ravencoin on a 3080 ti so has no 3d figured out a lhr version like number five or something like just i don't know what's going on this is really weird we're getting limited on mining raven coin on this gpu so we weren't getting limited it seems on ergo you guys saw that earlier right on ergo and then of course on ethereum we were getting limited but i wasn't able to achieve the you know the 80 plus mega hash and i was actually reading online there's other people here that tested the uh the i chill x3 right here okay the inno 3d rtx 3080 i chill x4 actually not the x3 x4 but the same brand no 3d and you can see here that they were only able to achieve about 58 mega hash and uh doing the dash lhr 68 okay and actually if we scroll down they say at the end here they say here note that your results may vary depending on their gpu model overclocking settings and temperatures i mean i've said that before and our case our rtx 3080ti should be getting 82 mega hash but our base hash rate was only around 42 which then improved to 62 after the lhr 68 update so you see that they talk about even 82 mega hash but their inno 3d was only able to get up to about 62 and then i was able to only get it to about 73 max and it was always fluctuating between you know 68 69 to 73. So i think this inno 3d brand they figured out how to like limit ravencoin on this gpu on the 3080 ti i want to know what you guys think let me know if any of you have this no3d model specifically and maybe like another chinese brand perhaps like a gain word card that maybe those also have the lhr maybe just like a further revision of the light hash rate lock on these cards for different algorithms now maybe it's not just ethereum now it's ravencore am i just going crazy i want to know what you guys think down below please post your results of you know what brand gpu you have what overclock settings you guys use power limits memory core clock fan speed what have you but the most important thing is to also put down the model which you guys have a 3080 ti and please let me know what results you guys can get let's say on ethereum ravencoin as well and ergo so that you know other people can see this as well if people are watching this and reading the comments it should help those that are maybe wanting to buy these gpus so would i buy this ino 3d i chill x3 3080ti no at this point no because it looks like in my experience limited on mining ravencoin so actually if i just go back to like 100 memory and gonna hit plus there we should theoretically then see the hash rate start to rise okay so yeah like we're getting limited here and also the memory controller went back up to a hundred all right it was uh it was uh at 80 something 88 87 before you guys can see here but now i just changed it and now the mega hash is going back up alright so tell me are we not limited or lhred on this 3080 ti on ravencoin very strange very strange anyways i just want to end off with profitability here i have the raven coin auto lycos and ethereum entered in here in terms of the hash rate that i can achieve on this 3080 ti i'm gonna hit calculate there and we're gonna go down and it says ergo is the most profitable on this and no 3d 3080 ti and then ethereum is the next one at uh looks like 40 cents 30 cents less than ergo and then ravencoin is a little bit further down at about another dollar less it seems okay anyways guys let me know your thoughts about this no3d 3080 ti and if you guys have seen similar results that i have and i know there are many varying 3080 ti results out there but yeah i've been testing this card for a very long time now and i've tried many different things to make sure that i'm like doing this right and correct and i'm not going crazy it feels like i'm going crazy let me know what you guys think down below i appreciate you all let me know your thoughts i'll see you guys in the next video have a good one and peace out Read the full article

YOU’RE telling me YOU’RE not oppressed for being ace. I have been told differently by many aces of all stripes who are not you, both those with other queer identities and those without. If you don’t feel oppressed on that axis, that’s great for you! Your experiences are not universal though. This isn’t even an intracommunity discussion on whether aces are oppressed, this is a difference of experience between individuals and you don’t get to speak for people who have already spoken.

“They are just as straight as cishet non-aces.”A) the Straights disagree with you. B) Other aces disagree with you. C) You’ve made it clear you’re not a “cishet” ace and that you consider them a whole separate identity, so you are not an authority on the experiences or the identity of that group. You’re talking over them.

“"Gay and lesbian" ALWAYS included trans people and biseuxal people because "gay" was an umbrella term.“There has been quite a lot of historical discussion about and resistance to including trans and bisexual people in the community, in the interest of respectability politics, which is why the name/acronym of the community has changed to be explicitly inclusive. This despite the fact that these groups have always been here, always been participating, and, further back, history doesn’t make the distinction. Hmmm, does that sound like any other groups we’ve been talking about?

I agree they’ve always been here and always played a significant role. Same as aces. The question was whether the rest of the group included/wanted to include them.

ANATOMICAL VULNERABILITY #2: LOREN DAY

LOREN DAY IS A FEMINIST ART HISTORIAN AND TEXTILE BASED ARTIST. SHE RECEIVED A BA HONS FROM MANCHESTER SCHOOL OF ART IN FINE ART AND ART HISTORY AND A MA IN CONTEMPORARY ART THEORY. HER ART EXPLORES THEMES SUCH AS THE EVERYDAY OBJECT, OBSESSION, DISABILITY AND THE LIVED EXPERIENCE OF ‘THE OTHER’.

WHY DO YOU LOVE ART AND ART HISTORY?

- My main realisation that I adored art happened in front of of a Francis Bacon painting when I was 11. It scared me, the darkness and anger that was visible through brushstrokes. I first loved art when I found out it didn’t have to be pretty. I grew up around Monet prints, which are all well and good, but once I realised art could challenge you, it changed everything.

In terms of art history, I’m excited by it’s existence as a direct parallel to life lived in a certain period. The socio-economic factors, the politics and the signs of change. However, I am mostly interested in art post 1965. For me, that’s when things get really exciting. Art no longer needed to realistically portray an image due to the mainstream accessibility to photography. So… then art was free to become anything at all.

WOMEN’S ART IS OFTEN LABELLED AS FEMINIST WITHOUT HAVING ANY POLITICAL OR FEMININE ASPECTS INVOLVED, BUT RATHER STEREOTYPED DUE TO GENDER. HOW DO YOU FEEL THESE ASSUMPTIONS LIMIT FEMALE ARTISTS AND HOW DO YOU BELIEVE, AS A FEMALE ARTIST,  YOU SHOULD CHALLENGE THESE.

- I think there are two ways this can be interpreted. I, personally, wear my textile skills like a badge of honour. In terms of technique, knitting and sewing are historical methods that tend to be passed from generation to generation, mother to daughter. Although there have been times I have resisted the ‘femininity’ of creation aspects of this, there is also the opportunity to embrace and reclaim them. Some people prefer to challenge this. I think it is a deep flaw in art history to attribute certain words ad methods with gender. A great example of this is a comparison between Abstract Expressionists: Jackson Pollock’s works are described as ejaculatory, explosive and definite whereas Helen Frankenstein’s pieces are said to be delicate, light and stained.

I think as a community the focus should be on elevating different voices the have been omitted since history began. I do think that we’re in an amazing time of change and awareness, though. In the past few years there have been more female and non-binary solo shows than ever before. Although this mission of equality can seem huge, pay attention to those little peaks of progress!

WHAT IMPACT DO YOU HOPE TO HAVE WITH YOUR WORK?

- One of my largest pieces was a 2m x 3m long wall, covered entirely by found and collected used scratch cards. My favourite thing about it was the reaction from my tutors at the time. One clearly thought I was bananas and the other tried to submit my work for a prize at the R.A. I like that juxtaposition. The thought of someone saying “yeah… but is it art?” makes me smile.

I also like to keep an element of humour in my work.

The body of textile pieces made from shopping lists was a turning point. My main aim with those works was to collect quick snapshots of strangers. These lists were hastily written, used and then discarded. The notion of giving them a higher function after that was exciting for me. I loved the contrast between a quick list and me then painstakingly embroidering the copies.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEDIUM TO WORK WITH AND WHY?

- I’ve never been much of an illustrator, and much prefer embroidery mark making than drawing. I enjoy any method that revolves around precision, such as printmaking and photography. There are just too many options for me, with practices such as abstract painting.

NAME THREE FEMALE ARTISTS THAT MOST INFLUENCE YOUR WORK AND WHY.

-This changes so frequently! At the moment I’m fascinated by the work of Sally Hewett. She makes embroideries/textile pieces based on bodies of all shapes and sizes. These often reflect disability, perceived ‘imperfections’ and a variation of themes.

Jenny Holzer’s ‘ don’t look down on me…’ poem from her series of Inflammatory Essays started a huge journey for me. It was art that gave the artist her autonomy. All of those poems are amazing, but there was something so brave about her addressing her abuser - I still know the poem off by heart.

Hannah Altman us a photographer/textile artist who manages to take photos that portray strength and sensitivity simultaneously. Again, I’m currently drawn to her work- especially the series involving mothers and daughters. Although her work doesn’t directly influence mine, I’ve enjoyed analysing her photographs in relation to themes of vulnerability and relationships.  

DISCUSS THE PHRASE ‘ANATOMICAL VULNERABILITY’-WHAT ARE ITS CONNOTATIONS FOR YOU?

-For me, ‘anatomical vulnerability’ is a reflection of my lived experience with chronic illnesses, To love a body that feels broken at times is a difficult task. Finding art and artists that represent this is reassuring. I could also suggest that as women/NB/trans/queer folk, there is a pre-disposition to experience oppression that MAKES us more vulnerable, just for existing. However, a focus on intersectionality within feminism can combat this.

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF COLOUR IN YOUR WORK?

-Colour is really important in my work. One of my favourite sights is  wall full of various rainbow thread and wool! However, as much  of my work centres around reproduction, I replicate the colours that already exist. In my shopping lists and post-it works, this involves a lot of neons.

‘ANATOMICAL VULNERABILITY’ IS A SERIES OF INTERVIEWS HIGHLIGHTING THE BEAUTY OF THE FEMALE ANATOMY AND INVESTIGATING HOW THE ROLE OF A FEMALE AND/OR THE EXPERIENCE OF TRAUMA CAN AFFECT THE BODY PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY TO CREATE DAMAGE OR DISTORTION.

Their Future

This is Part 2 of a quest analysis featuring Sayu and Suguru.

Part 1 here

Spoiler warning

NB:  For my reference I call the settings of the first quest World 1 and the second World 2

The second Sayu and Suguru quest is called ‘Their Future’. It is actually set in World 2 and is essentially Sayu and Suguru’s story in a parallel timeline.

What is immediately noticeable is how similar the beginnings of both quests are.

One day we encountered a mysterious boy.

Similar to the first quest, this one starts with an escape from the facility, then Suguru approaching Yuki and asking for her cooperation to defeat an organisation. There are a few minor differences in this first half which solidly place this quest in the setting of World 2. Suguru names the organization he is trying to take down: Nostalgia. He is asking for Yuki's help because he has heard they have taken down countless members of Nostalgia. Though the details of the events are slightly different, Suguru acts in exactly the same way. However this quest starts to diverge from the plot of the World 1 quest when Yuki peers into Suguru’s memories.

“Tch, so you looked at my memories”

In this timeline, the orphanage delivers Sayu to Nostalgia. After being caught spying on one of the experiments involving Sayu, Suguru asks to go along with her as well. The two decide to make a run for it one day but Sayu has been weakened by the experiments and can’t run anymore. She tells Suguru to go on without her, live an ordinary life for her sake, and be happy in her place.

Of course, Suguru can’t do that, especially because he knows Nostalgia is planning to get rid of her in three days, so he vows to come back and save her.

Where the World 1 Yuki only saw Suguru’s memories when he started to attack them, Yuki here does it while he is still our ally. This means all of them are now on the same page and Takuya and Yuki now know enough about Suguru to confidently make the decision to help him. Additionally, Takuya is able to empathise with Sayu’s plight because he was once a captive of the organisation as well (World 2 beginning of main story).

Meanwhile, Sayu reflects on her life as she prepares herself for the experiment that will kill her. We see the same flashbacks as Yuki saw in the other quest/timeline. However Sayu’s perspective adds a deeper layer of meaning. When Suguru blushed after she teased him, she realised there were still human feelings inside her. When she shares her earphones with him she thought of it like giving him half of her life. With the Christmas present she was so happy she forgot to cry. Sayu was ready to completely give up, but Suguru made life worth living. She concludes it wasn’t such a bad life at all because Suguru was there. As she readies herself to face death, suddenly a friendly neighbourhood Beo appears.  

Beo accuses Sayu of mentally twisting reality to placate herself with a false sense of satisfaction: “Are you really sure that's how you feel? Isn't escaping together with Suguru much more satisfying?” Then, like a trained salesman, he reveals the tarot card.  “I’ll give you this tarot card. It has the power of ‘revival’. If you use it, the experiment won’t kill you. You’ll get to escape with Suguru and live happily ever after with him.”

Unlike his other desperate victims however, even in the face of death Sayu stands her ground and remains true to her values.

“What Suguru and I wished for was a normal life. That card is probably not normal, and even if I live, the experiments will eventually turn me into a monster. When that time comes, I can no longer return to being a human.”

Sayu has firmly resolved to die normally as a human. She has lived her life to the fullest, without regret. Because after all, if she was not ‘God’s Child’, she would not have been able to meet Suguru. All the pain was worth it, a small sacrifice to be able to spend time with him.

Beo, realising he can't change her mind, gives up. 

Nostalgia are getting rid of Sayu because her power levels have dwindled so much to the point she is no longer useful to them. The reason for this is actually Suguru, who had planted such a strong concept of ‘normality’ in her that the ‘God’ part of God's Child started to wither away. However as the experiment is about to begin, Kikyou immediately calls on them to stop. Suguru has broken into the facility, and seeing her beloved place himself in danger to save her has caused Sayu’s power to rise to the highest level it has ever been. Kikyou plans to use this to their advantage. In a tragically similar climax to the other quest, they hijack Sayu’s consciousness in order to kill Suguru. Kikyou notes the irony that Sayu’s strong feelings of not wanting Suguru to get hurt is the basis of the power that will kill him.

Suguru finds Sayu, who tells him to run before it’s too late. She then evolves. Her thoughts are erratic but she manages to utter a plea for somebody to kill her. Yuki notes in an almost uncharacteristically calculating way that even though Sayu is powerful her defense is weak. In contrast, poor Suguru weakly begs us not to hurt Sayu any further.

“Please stop...stop attacking Sayu...”

But we kill her anyway.

Sayu dies, leaving Suguru devastated and in denial. Beo notes it is a bad habit of humans to try to avoid harsh realities. Sayu is dead, and Suguru has to face that fact. But then he turns around and dangles a single thread of hope in front of him.

“This tarot card can revive her, but there is a tiny price to pay. For example, Sayu might look slightly different from how she was before. She might not even be human anymore. Even then would you still love her? “

Suguru's answer is tragically predictable. Beo’s smile is sinister as he announces: “Blind love is beautiful, don't you think?“

Sayu is revived and turns into a monster, however Suguru gets incredibly offended when he hears Yuki call her one.

“Don't you dare call her that! Sayu isn't a monster, nor is she God's child! Sayu is just...a normal girl!”

Then we fight them. The ‘normal’ couple have the power of revival, meaning no matter how many times we beat them they come back to life.

Suddenly though, Sayu says something… 

‘Normal’ girl Sayu: (says something only Suguru can understand)

Suguru: “Man Sayu, you are really attached to humans, but if you say so, we’ll spare them. I don’t care as long as I can be with you.”

Then the two disappear in a flash. Fighting us is not even worth their time anymore.

Takuya and Yuki are left conflicted. Was what we did the right thing? The wrong thing? Thanks to us, Sayu is now a monster and Suguru has probably made some questionable life decisions. But they look...happy?

Yuki concludes with the important lesson she learned that day: There are forces way more powerful than we can imagine in this world. That was the important lesson we learned, and so I resolved to never forget that day.

In an epilogue we find the ‘normal’ couple celebrating Christmas. Suguru got Sayu a present: it’s new clothes for Nico.

Now let’s start our ‘normal life’

~~Analysis Time~~

Sayu and Suguru’s quests are one of the most emotionally impactful stories I have ever experienced in Shoumetsu Toshi (both quests emotionally impact me in very different ways though).

While on the surface it is clear they are not quite the same story, structurally there are a heap of plot similarities. Even ignoring the fact that Suguru and Sayu’s memories together are almost exactly the same, both quests start with Yuki’s recount of an “encounter with a mysterious boy”, Suguru asking for Yuki’s cooperation, and then eventually Yuki peering into his memories. In World 2, the three make it to the facility to rescue Sayu instead of Sayu escaping and meeting Suguru at a rendezvous point in World 1. However the tragedy that occurs is almost exactly the same, just with the roles reversed. Kikyou and Taiyou’s actions are also eerily similar.

That said, the similarities of both stories also highlight some interesting differences, namely the actions of Takuya and Yuki. I have noted before that Sayu and Suguru are essentially the same characters in both timelines, right down to their dialogue. What is different from our perspective though, is how Takuya and Yuki behave.

World 2 Yuki peers into Suguru’s memories early on, providing a common knowledge that acts as a foundation for cooperation. Instead of running from him, this Yuki attempted to understand him and his motives better. I think this is possible because in World 2 Yuki did not have a traumatising situation happen to her like World 1 Yuki. She has led basically a normal and happy life (this is, of course, before she finds out who Kikyou really is), and so her perspective overall is more positive and progressive. She has the confidence to ask Suguru what his problem is, and explain they can’t help if he isn’t willing to talk. Also, as mentioned previously, the Takuya in World 2 is able to relate as a captive of the organisation. The combination of these two factors means that, in contrast to World 1, where Suguru is our enemy by the second quest stage, in World 2 he remains our ally, and the power of the three working together allows them to actually progress to the facility in this timeline.

However, even with the three cooperating, the ending could ultimately not be changed. I think this says something quite important about how parallel worlds work in this game, which is: you ultimately can’t change your fate (unless something decidedly not-normal interferes). This reinforces what we have learnt from the experiences of multiple other characters tampering with different timelines (namely, Satoru and Souma). Suguru and Sayu’s stories even hit a lot of similar plot points to Souma’s. In particular: Yuki is forced to kill an opponent she does not want to fight against, World 2 Sayu pleas for somebody to kill her, and World 1 Sayu laments: “Why can’t we be happy?” The only factor that seemingly made any difference to the tragic nature of the story was Beo’s tarot card. Even then, the results are ambiguous (I guess the lesson I learned that day was that Shoumetsu Toshi does not give out happy endings for free).

I also noticed some very interesting differences with the main motifs. In World 1, Suguru is symbolised by an Angel: he is the ‘Guardian Angel’ that will protect ‘God’s Child’. The imagery is otherworldly, Suguru is a heavenly figure. The emphasis is on the contrast he makes with Sayu: they are light and dark, Heaven and the Underworld. This also references their ending in that timeline, where they are only reunited in death.

However, in World 2, Suguru’s importance lies in the fact he is human. His presence allows ‘God’s Child’ to experience ‘human’ emotions. Sayu actually loses her power because the possibility of a ‘normal life’ with Suguru is so appealing to her. Note that Sayu is the same in both quests, but it is only in World 2 that we realise what humanity really means to her. That is, Suguru was the only thing tethering Sayu to her humanity at all. And I guess that just made me realise the true connotation of Suguru’s actions in World 1. By discarding his humanity, Suguru symbolically threw away all hope of normality for the both of them...which happens to be exactly what he does in World 2.

What’s the takeaway from this, then? I guess what I am trying to say is, at his very core, Suguru was always ready to give up ‘normality’ to be with Sayu. This would have been true in every timeline and is the reason why these two will never find their ideal happy ending. Another way to think of it is that the ending we got in World 2 is as happy an ending as we will ever get for these two.
